- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the Best of Stugatz & Company live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Israel Gutierrez is in studio with us. His weekends are
- 0:23Speaker 1: getting a lot shorter. 877-99 on Fox. Gary Sheffield is
- 0:31Speaker 1: going to join us in about 15 minutes. John Starks
- 0:35Speaker 1: is going to join us in hour number two.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I'm excited for that. Izzy, I'm nervous here, though.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Because I'm tempted to play one of Taylor's Jalen Brunson
- 0:44Speaker 1: songs for John Starks. But John Starks is a serious— he
- 0:48Speaker 1: seems like a serious guy. I'm not certain— I feel like
- 0:51Speaker 1: we'll be wasting Starks' time with a Brunson song.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I'm not certain what to do here.
- 0:55Speaker 4: I don't know. I think— first of all, you're right. I
- 0:57Speaker 4: do think he seems like a serious dude, right? Wasn't
- 1:00Speaker 4: he the guy that was like— isn' t he a Kurt Warner story? Like—
- 1:03Speaker 4: bagging groceries one month, and then all of a sudden
- 1:05Speaker 4: he's on the Knicks a year later.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Playing in a game seven.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Right. But I don't think he's that serious anymore, especially
- 1:13Speaker 4: now that the Knicks have won it. Like, I don't
- 1:14Speaker 4: even know what we're talking to him about, but I
- 1:16Speaker 4: can't imagine it's anything very serious. It's got to be just, hey,
- 1:19Speaker 4: how are you feeling about the Knicks still? Yeah, but...
- 1:21Speaker 4: I think he can take a good side.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Izzy, I'm sweating already at the thought of John Starks
- 1:25Speaker 5: having to sit through one of my songs.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Oh, well, you should.
- 1:27Speaker 5: I don't want anything really to do with that experience.
- 1:31Speaker 5: If you ask Taylor... In 2004, a fourth-grade Taylor. Yes.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Name two people you want on the show. Derek Jeter
- 1:38Speaker 5: would be number one, but let's say Derek Jeter was
- 1:40Speaker 5: unavailable that day.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Right. What show is fourth-grade Taylor discussing here? This show.
- 1:44Speaker 5: This hypothetical show.
- 1:46Speaker 4: He already knows.
- 1:46Speaker 1: He's saying he's producing— We're going back in time. Okay,
- 1:49Speaker 1: so back in 2004. How old were you?
- 1:51Speaker 5: Fourth grade.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Okay, fourth grade. All right, you said that.
- 1:54Speaker 5: It's just easier for me because whatever the year was,
- 1:56Speaker 5: that's what grade I was in.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Got it. Okay.
- 1:58Speaker 5: So if you go back to fourth-grade Taylor and say—
- 2:02Speaker 5: Name two people you want on the show, assuming Derek
- 2:04Speaker 5: Jeter's unavailable. I might tell you Gary Sheffield and John Starks.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Over Patrick Ewing, huh?
- 2:10Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Starks was like, oh, easy. You have to consider the
- 2:12Speaker 5: fact that I'm like 5'9.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:14Speaker 5: Like, I can't really relate with Patrick Ewing being a
- 2:18Speaker 5: big man.
- 2:18Speaker 1: If we asked today's Taylor the two guests he would
- 2:21Speaker 1: most want on the show, who would they be?
- 2:23Speaker 5: Oh, it's still Derek Jeter and Cam Schluter probably and
- 2:26Speaker 5: Jalen Brunson.
- 2:27Speaker 3: No, it would be Brunson. It has to be Brunson, right?
- 2:29Speaker 5: It's still Derek Jeter.
- 2:29Speaker 4: It's always Derek Jeter. Hang on a second. You've seen
- 2:31Speaker 4: Derek Jeter on all of these talk shows. You've seen
- 2:34Speaker 4: him be terrible at basically talking, and you still want
- 2:37Speaker 4: him to be your guest.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I really don't care. I just kind of want
- 2:40Speaker 5: to be in the presence of Derek Jeter.
- 2:41Speaker 4: You just want to stare at him as always. Right.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Trusting me to get the most out of Derek Jeter.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Yeah, Steve would be like, Taylor, ask a question. I go,
- 2:48Speaker 5: I don't have any.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I just want to stare at Jeter, the captain. Jeets.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Just to remember that championship? Oh, that was great.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So Taylor's dream show in 2004 is happening today. Gary
- 3:02Speaker 1: Sheffield at about 10 minutes and John Starks in hour
- 3:05Speaker 1: number two. Izzy gives me, I'm just going to be
- 3:08Speaker 1: honest with the audience, a list of topics of things
- 3:10Speaker 1: he would like to discuss. And he does it in
- 3:13Speaker 1: a way because he knows I'm not following all of this.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I'm certainly not following the NBA now. And he is
- 3:18Speaker 1: always following the NBA.
- 3:19Speaker 4: You're too busy following the WNBA?
- 3:21Speaker 3: Yes, the playoffs and hockey. Hockey has started. Panthers, big
- 3:25Speaker 3: win last night. Kachuk with a big goal. First lead
- 3:28Speaker 3: of the season for the Panthers.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Witchka-chuck.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I'm gambling again. But what is going on here with
- 3:35Speaker 3: Joel Embiid? I'm tired of him. LeBron James? I'm tired
- 3:39Speaker 3: of him. Mike Breen? Never tired of him.
- 3:43Speaker 4: So there was a preseason game on the other night,
- 3:46Speaker 4: and Mike Breen, who he's not a reporter, obviously, right?
- 3:51Speaker 4: But he is somebody who even when he goes on
- 3:54Speaker 4: air with something, it's got to be, like, rock solid.
- 3:57Speaker 4: But he is not going on air because he heard
- 3:59Speaker 4: something third-hand that might have happened.
- 4:02Speaker 3: He has earned maximum credibility.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 4:05Speaker 3: If he's bringing something to air, it's true, I would think, yes.
- 4:08Speaker 4: It's not like, you know, he got unserious now that
- 4:11Speaker 4: the Knicks have won a championship since he's been calling it.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Although Breen is wacky. I mean, keep in mind, he
- 4:16Speaker 3: did updates for Imus. He's got a sneaky good sense
- 4:19Speaker 3: of humor. He does, Mike Breen.
- 4:21Speaker 4: I would not associate wacky with Mike Breen. I'm going
- 4:24Speaker 4: to have to hear that for myself.
- 4:26Speaker 3: You know him better, so that's fair.
- 4:27Speaker 4: But he said that there was a practice recently and
- 4:30Speaker 4: Joel Embiid was a little late because the other guys
- 4:33Speaker 4: were already on the floor and that LeBron James let
- 4:36Speaker 4: him have it. And then LeBron James said, I think
- 4:41Speaker 4: via social media, that that was a lie, that he
- 4:44Speaker 4: wasn't late.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Stop lying.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Now.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Hmm.
- 4:48Speaker 4: This is a credibility off, I think, between Joel Embiid,
- 4:53Speaker 4: LeBron James, and Mike Breen. Right. I think in terms
- 4:56Speaker 4: of telling the truth. Mike Breen versus LeBron James is
- 5:00Speaker 4: a mismatch because LeBron lies.
- 5:02Speaker 3: All the time. I would say it's the greatest mismatch
- 5:05Speaker 3: in sports.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Yeah, Izzy, I think LeBron's on his, like, what, 40th
- 5:09Speaker 5: rewatch of The Godfather?
- 5:11Speaker 4: Yeah, seriously. Still can't pick a favorite scene. And, yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 4: he knew that Kobe's 81 was coming. He just knew
- 5:17Speaker 4: it that day. And then you also have the credibility
- 5:22Speaker 4: off between Mike Breen and Joel Embiid, or even LeBron
- 5:25Speaker 4: and Joel Embiid, like, The idea that Joel Embiid would
- 5:28Speaker 4: be late to practice is pretty much a ho-hum thought, right?
- 5:31Speaker 4: It's not like something you'd be like, no, unbelievable, that guy.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Of course, given what you've heard from him, given other
- 5:38Speaker 4: people who have questioned him his professionalism, like the idea
- 5:42Speaker 4: that he's going to be late to a practice is
- 5:44Speaker 4: not a shocker.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I think the shocking thing would be if he showed
- 5:46Speaker 1: up right on time or five minutes early.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Yes. Yeah. But couldn't you guys make the argument that
- 5:52Speaker 5: in terms of LeBron James, like this is not really
- 5:55Speaker 5: something if you're LeBron James, I don't think you want
- 5:57Speaker 5: to be disputing like Michael Jordan led in ripped into teammates,
- 6:01Speaker 5: Kobe Bryant ripped into teammates. And look at the way
- 6:03Speaker 5: that we kind of like hold those guys up on
- 6:05Speaker 5: pedestals being like, This is the kind of teammate you
- 6:08Speaker 5: want to be.
- 6:08Speaker 4: That's exactly my thought. When I heard that, it was like,
- 6:11Speaker 4: wait a second. Is it just that you want to
- 6:14Speaker 4: deny whatever it is that people say about you? Is
- 6:17Speaker 4: it just that you want to be liked by so
- 6:19Speaker 4: many people that you don't want to hear potential negative backlash?
- 6:24Speaker 4: Is it that it didn't happen and that somebody told
- 6:26Speaker 4: Mike Breen a BS story and that he got unlucky
- 6:29Speaker 4: in all this? But I think, again, based on the
- 6:33Speaker 4: history of all three of these people, it I didn't
- 6:36Speaker 4: even think it was a big deal. I thought LeBron
- 6:38Speaker 4: would have been like, yeah, okay, and? If anybody's late,
- 6:41Speaker 4: I'm going to yell at them.
- 6:42Speaker 3: That's what I was brought here to do. Right.
- 6:43Speaker 4: I didn't come here. I didn't leave my family to
- 6:46Speaker 4: wait for Joel Embiid to get to practice before we
- 6:49Speaker 4: can start practicing.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Izzy, do you think any part of LeBron James and
- 6:53Speaker 5: why he's getting so defensive is he feels a little
- 6:56Speaker 5: bit of guilt that Joel Embiid was late to practice
- 6:58Speaker 5: and he should have let him use his helicopter?
- 7:01Speaker 3: From New York City? Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Pick up Joel on the way.
- 7:07Speaker 4: That's a great you know what? That's a great point.
- 7:09Speaker 3: It's an unfair advantage for LeBron.
- 7:11Speaker 4: I mean, he's very stealthily going to be late, like
- 7:13Speaker 4: he's probably going to be an hour early every time.
- 7:15Speaker 4: So how is traffic? What do you mean traffic? Right.
- 7:18Speaker 4: But yeah, I do think. But the part about this
- 7:20Speaker 4: is just like it's odd.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Well, how much slack do you need to give Joel
- 7:25Speaker 4: Embiid again? Because unless every report about people questioning his
- 7:30Speaker 4: professionalism over the years has been wrong, has been a
- 7:33Speaker 4: flat-out lie, then, again, I don't think this is a
- 7:36Speaker 4: big deal at all. I don't care if it's LeBron James.
- 7:39Speaker 4: In fact, it would be strange if it was somebody
- 7:42Speaker 4: other than LeBron James. Maybe even, I would be okay
- 7:45Speaker 4: if Jalen Brown said, yeah, I yelled at him because
- 7:48Speaker 4: he was late, and that's not how you win a championship.
- 7:50Speaker 4: I would know I've won a championship. LeBron, having gotten
- 7:54Speaker 4: there again, he didn't leave his family to lose in
- 7:56Speaker 4: the second round, right?
- 7:57Speaker 2: Correct.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Which is going to live with him forever if he
- 7:58Speaker 4: loses in the second round these next two seasons.
- 8:01Speaker 5: But.
- 8:02Speaker 4: He didn't leave his family to lose in the second round.
- 8:05Speaker 4: If you're going to set these championship habits, you've got
- 8:07Speaker 4: to do it right from the start. So I'm with you, Taylor.
- 8:09Speaker 4: He should have been boasting that he went off on
- 8:12Speaker 4: Joel Embiid and then said, but we're teammates. Of course,
- 8:15Speaker 4: he's going to take it well.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Mike Breen is telling a story that paints LeBron in
- 8:19Speaker 1: the exact light that he wants to be painted in.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I mean, that's what he was brought to Philadelphia to do.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Whatever they've tried hasn't succeeded. And so LeBron and Jalen Brown,
- 8:28Speaker 1: I guess to a lesser extent, was brought in to
- 8:31Speaker 1: change the culture of that organization and help Joel Embiid
- 8:35Speaker 1: get to practice on time.
- 8:37Speaker 4: I wonder, Taylor, though, if everybody would have reacted the
- 8:40Speaker 4: way we have, where it's just like, no, no, he
- 8:42Speaker 4: should be doing that. He'd be You know, he'd be
- 8:45Speaker 4: championed if he'd be doing that. He'd be lauded if
- 8:46Speaker 4: he does that. If he changes his mind again and says, no,
- 8:49Speaker 4: I was just kidding. It was the truth. I did
- 8:51Speaker 4: yell at him.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Izzy, I wonder if there's anything there with LeBron James
- 8:55Speaker 5: and not wanting to be portrayed in this light, because
- 8:59Speaker 5: it does feel like there's been a history of people
- 9:03Speaker 5: just treating LeBron James teammates weird and. again, pushing LeBron
- 9:08Speaker 5: and pushing the LeBron narrative, like the whole Kyrie Irving
- 9:10Speaker 5: thing where it was like, do you consider LeBron James
- 9:13Speaker 5: a father figure? And Kyrie was like, no, I have
- 9:16Speaker 5: a father.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I do think at this stage, like I don't
- 9:19Speaker 4: really think he cares about the whole replaying the Kyrie thing.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I don't think that haunts him. But and maybe this
- 9:25Speaker 4: is just because I'm getting old. I just think he
- 9:28Speaker 4: doesn't want to be looked at as unk. I don't
- 9:30Speaker 4: think he wants to be looked at as the old
- 9:31Speaker 4: man who's just telling everybody what to do now because
- 9:34Speaker 4: he's so old and yada yada instead of just being
- 9:36Speaker 4: a player and coming in as a sort of player
- 9:39Speaker 4: coach type.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It doesn't help that his son plays in the league.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I mean, just in terms of how we view LeBron
- 9:43Speaker 1: James and his age.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Crazy graphic yesterday. Steph Curry versus Bronny James for a
- 9:50Speaker 4: preseason game. Like, good Lord, go back 20 years and
- 9:53Speaker 4: imagine that.
- 9:53Speaker 3: But shouldn't we be applauding LeBron James?
- 9:56Speaker 1: I mean, most fans, they fans love this stuff is
- 9:59Speaker 1: he they don't care that LeBron has been there for
- 10:02Speaker 1: a minute whatever Embiid's been doing we all know his
- 10:05Speaker 1: talent he gets heard a lot which is unfortunate, but
- 10:08Speaker 1: LeBron was brought there to bring some structure to that
- 10:11Speaker 1: team because he's the guy who has done it, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: he's done it four or five times, you know?
- 10:16Speaker 4: I can think of maybe one other player, and that's
- 10:19Speaker 4: John Morant, who you would, like, sort of ask around
- 10:22Speaker 4: and say, hey, if, you know, said leader from a team,
- 10:26Speaker 4: a new player from a team, went off on a
- 10:29Speaker 4: player because he was late, who would you be okay
- 10:32Speaker 4: with that, you know, that player being? And it would
- 10:35Speaker 4: be Joel Embiid and John Morant because— Again, everything we've read,
- 10:38Speaker 4: everything we've heard seems to be that this is something
- 10:41Speaker 4: that is an issue with him, professionalism. And if you
- 10:44Speaker 4: just nip it in the bud right off the top
- 10:47Speaker 4: and just get that story out of the way, you'll
- 10:50Speaker 4: never have to address it again. Instead, now, it seems
- 10:54Speaker 4: like LeBron can never really, again, assuming this is true
- 10:58Speaker 4: and he is, you know, lying to protect himself. Because
- 11:02Speaker 4: I can't imagine not only Breen telling a story that
- 11:05Speaker 4: wasn't true, believing a story that wasn't true, but being
- 11:09Speaker 4: fed a story that wasn't true. Who's that cruel to
- 11:13Speaker 4: feed Mike Breen some fake news? I can't imagine who
- 11:16Speaker 4: would do that.
- 11:17Speaker 3: And if Breen wasn't certain, he would get a second source.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Because that's what Mike Breen does. He's responsible.
- 11:24Speaker 4: But I also think even if he didn't get another one,
- 11:26Speaker 4: it's such, to me, a nothing story given the history
- 11:30Speaker 4: of these two guys that it was just like, Okay, yeah, finally,
- 11:33Speaker 4: somebody's getting on Joel Embiid's you-know-what instead of a coach
- 11:37Speaker 4: who probably doesn't feel like he has that sort of
- 11:39Speaker 4: pull with Embiid. And instead, it's just he's making it
- 11:42Speaker 4: worse by saying, that's a lie, Mike Breen, who everybody respects.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Yes, one of the players who has earned the right
- 11:48Speaker 1: to walk into a new organization and say, hey.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I chose you.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I came, Joel Embiid, I chose to play with you.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I could have done anything with the final two years
- 11:57Speaker 1: of my career. I chose to come to Philadelphia. Don't
- 12:00Speaker 1: you dare be late on my watch.
- 12:03Speaker 3: I'm okay with that, especially if, you know, he's got
- 12:05Speaker 3: a time where his chopper has to take off and
- 12:06Speaker 3: get him back to New York City.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I do love the idea. Chopper. You know what? Let's
- 12:13Speaker 4: just swing by Embiid's house.
- 12:15Speaker 3: He'll hear us coming.
- 12:16Speaker 4: He knows he's got to be ready. We'll swoop down.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Maybe we'll just send a rope down because there's no
- 12:21Speaker 4: place to land. And then you just see Embiid just
- 12:23Speaker 4: climbing up that rope ladder. Yes.
- 12:24Speaker 1: You have to love Philly fans who they have enough
- 12:26Speaker 1: to be upset about. I mean, they're just upset in
- 12:28Speaker 1: general about everything.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But the idea that they are now realizing LeBron doesn't
- 12:33Speaker 3: like their city. You don't want to live there. He's
- 12:36Speaker 3: taking a chopper from New York City to Philadelphia back
- 12:40Speaker 3: and forth every day. The only time he'll spend in
- 12:43Speaker 3: Philly is when they have home games.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Well, it is a good sign anyway that Joel Embiid
- 12:47Speaker 4: looks like he's lost weight. He looks like he's fit
- 12:50Speaker 4: because the other guy who was recruiting or another guy
- 12:52Speaker 4: who was recruiting LeBron James really hard. This offseason was
- 12:56Speaker 4: Draymond Green. Have you seen him lately?
- 12:58Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 12:59Speaker 4: He was wearing a black T-shirt yesterday. I think it
- 13:01Speaker 4: was yesterday, maybe the day before that, getting interviewed. And
- 13:05Speaker 4: not in NBA shape. You know what? I can take
- 13:09Speaker 4: the NBA out of that. Not in shape at all. Really?
- 13:12Speaker 4: Not in shape at all. And it just, you know,
- 13:14Speaker 4: he's the type of guy that makes you, like, you
- 13:17Speaker 4: know he's going to be, you know, in terms of conditioning,
- 13:21Speaker 4: he'll be able to run up and down. He'll be okay.
- 13:24Speaker 4: But you kind of want to give off like you're
- 13:27Speaker 4: trying a little harder and you don't want to give
- 13:29Speaker 4: off like what they're calling this a gap year. You
- 13:31Speaker 4: don't want to be that obvious that you don't really care.
- 13:34Speaker 4: And it makes me wonder if Steph Curry was just like, dang.
- 13:36Speaker 3: It, I should have left.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Yes.
- 13:39Speaker 4: That's the answer.
- 13:41Speaker 5: On the topic of some NBA body transformations this offseason.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Chet Holmgren?
- 13:45Speaker 5: Yes.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:47Speaker 5: I'm so glad you knew exactly where I was going.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I mean, you guys are locked into the association already.
- 13:51Speaker 5: Yeah, because when you hear the word body transformation, you
- 13:54Speaker 5: just think Chet Holmgren this offseason. Stu, I forget if
- 13:58Speaker 5: it was like a reporter from the Thunder or maybe
- 14:00Speaker 5: the Thunder put it out themselves.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Chet Holmgren. has added two pounds this off season, two
- 14:07Speaker 5: 13 to two 15. Wow. It feels like we could
- 14:10Speaker 5: have saved a graphic there.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Yeah. We should have let Stu guts guess how much
- 14:14Speaker 4: weight he's gained. Put it on the ball.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Taylor is, uh, is putting out a graphic that Chet
- 14:25Speaker 3: Holmgren has gained two pounds, a waste of a graphic.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I'm with you on that.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 14:34Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific on
- 14:38Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Thanks to Gary Sheffield for joining us. John Starks going
- 14:48Speaker 1: to join us in hour number two. Is he in
- 14:49Speaker 1: studio with us? Taylor, we're one for one on your
- 14:52Speaker 1: dream show back in 2004. You said it would be
- 14:55Speaker 1: Gary Sheffield and John Starks. You love Gary Sheffield, don't you?
- 14:59Speaker 3: You love him.
- 15:00Speaker 5: Yeah, somebody just wrote in to me, too, what about A-Rod?
- 15:02Speaker 5: And I forgot about A-Rod and Hideki Matsui, but I
- 15:04Speaker 5: would imagine the interview with Hideki Matsui might be a
- 15:07Speaker 5: little difficult. We'd need a translator there with us.
- 15:10Speaker 1: But you and I have had Sheffield on now three
- 15:12Speaker 1: times since we've been together.
- 15:14Speaker 3: He never disappoints, ever.
- 15:16Speaker 5: He feels like a friend. He's a friend to you,
- 15:19Speaker 5: but he's starting to feel like a friend to me. Yes.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Izzy, he is unhinged about his Yankees, Taylor, because they're
- 15:25Speaker 3: down 2-0.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Yeah, what happened to them? Now they can't hit a thing, huh?
- 15:31Speaker 5: Well, Izzy, this is the problem. They've never been able
- 15:33Speaker 5: to hit a thing. They just had a two-game spurt
- 15:35Speaker 5: against Boston where everybody kind of readjusted their expectations.
- 15:39Speaker 3: They hit everything.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Yeah, they hit everything once Boston went to their bullpen
- 15:43Speaker 5: because the starters were doing a great job and the
- 15:46Speaker 5: manager couldn't wait to take them out. But yeah, Izzy,
- 15:49Speaker 5: this offense stinks. Like we knew when the season started,
- 15:51Speaker 5: like I'm embarrassed in myself for thinking, for getting my
- 15:53Speaker 5: hopes up at points during the season. Like when the
- 15:56Speaker 5: season started, I knew how the season would end. There
- 15:58Speaker 5: was like a hot stretch where I started to believe.
- 16:00Speaker 5: And yeah, I just, I feel like an idiot, egg
- 16:03Speaker 5: on my face for believing in this Yankee team.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Are you just sort of trying another reverse jinx like
- 16:07Speaker 4: you did last time where you said.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I feel like he is maybe.
- 16:10Speaker 4: What was that? Was the fat lady singing or something else?
- 16:14Speaker 5: The fat lady song. The Titanic was going down. They
- 16:17Speaker 5: were playing us off. No, I don't believe in jinxes.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Somebody in Fort Lauderdale, Florida... has no impact on what
- 16:23Speaker 5: happens tonight in the Bronx.
- 16:24Speaker 4: But what is it about this Tampa Bay team that
- 16:27Speaker 4: is just, I mean, is it just they have a
- 16:29Speaker 4: couple of decent starting pitchers so they can shut down
- 16:31Speaker 4: the Yankees because the Yankees are terrible? Or are you
- 16:33Speaker 4: giving the Rays credit?
- 16:34Speaker 1: I think it's more about the Yankees than it is
- 16:35Speaker 1: the Rays. He's just not convinced this team can hit.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I mean, that's it.
- 16:38Speaker 3: And he hasn't been all year in his defense.
- 16:41Speaker 5: It's a little bit of both, Izzy, where the Rays
- 16:43Speaker 5: do have a couple of big starters, like Freddy Peralta
- 16:45Speaker 5: comes over from the Mets. Freddy Peralta was one of
- 16:48Speaker 5: the worst pitchers in the National League. and then he
- 16:50Speaker 5: gets traded to the Mets, or he gets traded to
- 16:52Speaker 5: the Rays from the Mets, and his last seven starts,
- 16:55Speaker 5: his ERA is under one. They have Drew Rasmussen.
- 16:58Speaker 4: And then the.
- 16:58Speaker 5: Rays have the best batting average in baseball. So the Rays'
- 17:03Speaker 5: strategy is we're just going to put the ball in play.
- 17:06Speaker 5: We don't strike out. We're going to make high contact
- 17:09Speaker 5: rate and force the Yankees to play defense. And you
- 17:12Speaker 5: saw in game one, on whatever or game two whenever
- 17:17Speaker 5: this yankee team can't play defense that.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Was the embarrassing part but this is the best of
- 17:22Speaker 4: five so they've got to win their next three so
- 17:24Speaker 4: it's all you know win or go home zero faith
- 17:28Speaker 4: you don't see any path to victory.
- 17:30Speaker 3: So i sit here in a great spot because i
- 17:31Speaker 3: don't care about the yankees and i'm sitting here telling
- 17:33Speaker 3: taylor trust your team dude you're going home you're going
- 17:35Speaker 3: to yankee stadium the pitching is set up for you
- 17:38Speaker 3: They're going to win in five, but I don't care.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And so it's an easy prediction for me to make
- 17:42Speaker 3: because if I'm wrong, who cares? And if I'm right,
- 17:45Speaker 3: Taylor will never hear the end of it.
- 17:46Speaker 5: And so, so right now, Izzy, I'd say our win
- 17:50Speaker 5: percentage is like 2%. And it's just like Ben Rice
- 17:53Speaker 5: might get hot.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Come on. He's been hot.
- 17:56Speaker 4: He is hot.
- 17:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 5: But he might get hot for the next three games.
- 17:58Speaker 5: Like maybe, maybe like our leadoff hitter or like Lux
- 18:02Speaker 5: into like a walk or something or a hit by
- 18:04Speaker 5: a pitch. Like, A pitch slips from the Rays starting
- 18:06Speaker 5: pitcher tonight. And then Ben Rice gets a hold of
- 18:08Speaker 5: a couple.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Have you guys noticed what's going on with the Braves
- 18:12Speaker 1: and their fans and Freddie Freeman? Because when he first
- 18:15Speaker 1: left Atlanta, he's beloved there. But he left there, went
- 18:18Speaker 1: to the Dodgers. And, you know, the first couple of
- 18:21Speaker 1: times he went back there, it was standing ovations. And
- 18:24Speaker 1: Freddie was really, he was almost embarrassed to be a Dodger,
- 18:26Speaker 1: even though they were winning a lot.
- 18:28Speaker 3: And he made the right decision. But last night they
- 18:31Speaker 3: were booing Freddie Freeman. And Freddie hit a home run.
- 18:36Speaker 3: and he took great delight in hitting that home run
- 18:39Speaker 3: in atlanta in front of those fans it was fun i.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Hated the way that freddie freeman left left the braves
- 18:44Speaker 5: because he was a fan favorite there like probably eventually
- 18:47Speaker 5: gets a statue in front of their stadium and then
- 18:50Speaker 5: when he goes to the dodgers he made it seem
- 18:52Speaker 5: like his agent like twisted his arm and like joined
- 18:54Speaker 5: this super team and he was like oh i i
- 18:57Speaker 5: never i never wanted to leave atlanta well you left
- 18:59Speaker 5: atlanta freddie freeman So.
- 19:01Speaker 4: To your theory there, Stu, do you have to now
- 19:04Speaker 4: start cheering him again just so he can, you know,
- 19:06Speaker 4: be bad again? Or do you have to keep with
- 19:09Speaker 4: that villain strategy?
- 19:10Speaker 3: So did the booze motivate Freddie Freeman? He almost hit two.
- 19:13Speaker 3: He should have hit two home runs. One was out
- 19:15Speaker 3: and was pulled back in.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Great catch. You're watching a lot of sports, huh?
- 19:18Speaker 3: I watched hockey last night at 10.45 at night. I
- 19:21Speaker 3: can't sleep.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Oh, my poor guy, Brad Marshawn.
- 19:24Speaker 3: What happened to Marshawn? Forget about Freddie Freeman. I did
- 19:27Speaker 3: watch hockey last night.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I saw Kachuk's goal, and I couldn't believe when the
- 19:32Speaker 1: announcer said it's the first time the Panthers have had
- 19:34Speaker 1: the lead the entire season.
- 19:35Speaker 4: It was weird because they've won a game, but I
- 19:37Speaker 4: guess when you score in overtime and it's sudden death,
- 19:39Speaker 4: I guess that has the lead, but you don't hold
- 19:41Speaker 4: the lead.
- 19:42Speaker 3: It's just you have the lead forever.
- 19:44Speaker 4: The game's over. The game's over. That one was a
- 19:45Speaker 4: little semantics there.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:47Speaker 4: But, yeah, I feel like they're a little bit cursed now.
- 19:50Speaker 4: because they obviously had the Barkov injury, which I don't
- 19:54Speaker 4: know what they're saying. I think they're saying four to
- 19:55Speaker 4: six weeks now, maybe six to eight weeks. And now
- 19:58Speaker 4: Marshawn just couldn't put any pressure on him. It looked
- 20:00Speaker 4: like his knee just got trampled on and just bent,
- 20:05Speaker 4: not bent backwards, but bent underneath him. And he couldn't
- 20:08Speaker 4: put any pressure on that knees that's a knees had
- 20:10Speaker 4: some issues with. And it's just it would be sad
- 20:12Speaker 4: if he's done. It's like he's done done because that's
- 20:14Speaker 4: got to be a career ender. Like he's not coming
- 20:16Speaker 4: back from that one if it's a serious knee injury. Right.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Because he's old. Yes. He's up there in age. I mean,
- 20:21Speaker 3: old by hockey standards. Yes. To answer your question on
- 20:24Speaker 3: Braves fans. Absolutely.
- 20:27Speaker 1: You have to go back to treating him in the
- 20:28Speaker 1: nicest way possible. You don't want to do something bad
- 20:31Speaker 1: to people who are treating you nicely. You want to
- 20:34Speaker 1: do something bad to people who are booing you and
- 20:37Speaker 1: making fun of you and who are being mean to you. So, yes,
- 20:40Speaker 1: if I'm a Braves fan, I would go back to
- 20:42Speaker 1: giving him standing ovations as if he was batting cleanup
- 20:45Speaker 1: for the Atlanta Braves.
- 20:46Speaker 6: Yes.
- 20:47Speaker 4: How does that work, though? He goes back to the
- 20:48Speaker 4: dugout after struggling. He's like to his own teammates, yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 4: but they're cheering for me, so I can't get a hit.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I don't want to do that to them.
- 20:54Speaker 5: He's batting 363 this series with two homers.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Oh, Lord. Cheer that man.
- 20:59Speaker 1: John Stark's going to join us in about 20 minutes.
- 21:02Speaker 1: We're all very nervous. We're going to play one of
- 21:04Speaker 1: Taylor's Jalen Brunson songs for him. We have no idea
- 21:06Speaker 1: how he's going to respond.
- 21:08Speaker 4: I'd be more nervous if Taylor had to sing it live.
- 21:11Speaker 4: That's the next challenge, Taylor. Do it live.
- 21:14Speaker 5: I don't have that in my bag.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Find it. Let's try it out one day, okay? You're
- 21:22Speaker 3: not willing?
- 21:23Speaker 6: No. All right.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Eight seven seven ninety nine on fox.
- 21:26Speaker 1: That is eight seven seven we have 14 minutes to
- 21:29Speaker 1: take your phone calls eight seven seven ninety nine on
- 21:32Speaker 1: fox john starks again is going to join us here
- 21:35Speaker 1: in just a minute you hate john starks right what
- 21:38Speaker 1: i mean just as a heat fan i'm just i
- 21:40Speaker 1: hate is a strong word.
- 21:41Speaker 4: No i'll tell you why because he was the era
- 21:43Speaker 4: before the heat were a legitimate playoff anything right that
- 21:47Speaker 4: was That was back in the day where, like, Steve
- 21:49Speaker 4: Smith would make the playoffs. He'd be like, yeah, we
- 21:51Speaker 4: made it. We're going to lose in the first round,
- 21:52Speaker 4: but we made it. And then, you know, you watch
- 21:54Speaker 4: the Knicks and the Bulls and all those other teams
- 21:56Speaker 4: go deep into the playoffs. It wasn't until Allen Houston
- 21:59Speaker 4: and them boys is when I started really hating the
- 22:01Speaker 4: Knicks after Pat Riley left there.
- 22:03Speaker 1: We were discussing last week, Izzy, it was a Think
- 22:06Speaker 1: About It Thursday, and Taylor asked a very good question.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Would you be okay with whoever your rival is in sports,
- 22:13Speaker 1: whoever your favorite team is, whoever their rival is, If
- 22:17Speaker 1: they won four consecutive titles, you had to sit through
- 22:20Speaker 1: them winning four consecutive titles. But I guarantee you, five
- 22:24Speaker 1: years from now, you win a title. Your favorite team
- 22:27Speaker 1: wins a title. And I'm not certain who you consider.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I know the Heat are your favorite.
- 22:32Speaker 4: Well, my favorite team in all of sports is the
- 22:34Speaker 4: Florida women's volleyball team.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Okay.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Would I be able to sit through four championships from Kentucky?
- 22:39Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 22:40Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Let's do it with the NBA here, okay? Because you
- 22:44Speaker 3: do like the Heat. And I'm wondering, well, Knicks or Celtics,
- 22:49Speaker 3: who is, who's the Heat's rival?
- 22:51Speaker 4: So, you know, it feels like their rival, their more,
- 22:54Speaker 4: their long-term rival is the Knicks just because it's been
- 22:57Speaker 4: battles just because Pat Riley, you know, was in.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Both places, et cetera.
- 23:01Speaker 4: But if you're just asking anybody who's like, I don't know,
- 23:04Speaker 4: 35 or younger, it feels like the Celtics, right? Especially
- 23:09Speaker 4: with the LeBron angle and everything else. But, The way
- 23:12Speaker 4: I'm thinking of it is just the way you framed
- 23:14Speaker 4: it in terms of who would I be like more
- 23:17Speaker 4: upset or more frustrated or annoyed by having to sit
- 23:21Speaker 4: through four championships for.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Both annoying fan bases.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yes.
- 23:25Speaker 4: That's a great because like right off the dome, it's
- 23:27Speaker 4: like Boston. I don't want to hear them. I don't want,
- 23:29Speaker 4: you know, Bill Simmons to be all cocky and everything else.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:33Speaker 4: But that's because I don't know what it would look
- 23:35Speaker 4: like if the Knicks were actually actually a dynasty.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Right. You've seen Taylor after one. Imagine what it would
- 23:40Speaker 3: be like after five.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Imagine how many tattoos Taylor would have if they won
- 23:45Speaker 4: four in a row.
- 23:46Speaker 5: Yes.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Like he would have every, you know, landmark in New
- 23:49Speaker 4: York tattooed on his body somewhere with a Jalen Brunson
- 23:52Speaker 4: jersey on it. I have a feeling that that would
- 23:57Speaker 4: be the worst option of the two, but I'm going
- 24:00Speaker 4: to go by just their current players as well, because they,
- 24:04Speaker 4: Do I really care if Jalen Brunson becomes one of
- 24:07Speaker 4: the all-time greats and wins, I guess in this case,
- 24:10Speaker 4: four consecutive championships? Not really.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Right.
- 24:14Speaker 4: Would I like it or would I be able to
- 24:15Speaker 4: withstand it if Jason Tatum did it? Hell no.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Without Jalen Brown.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Hell no. Would I be okay with Jason Tatum winning
- 24:23Speaker 4: those championships and him copying other people's celebrations every single
- 24:27Speaker 4: year and having Boston be that much more of an
- 24:30Speaker 4: obnoxious fan base? I think it would have to be Boston.
- 24:33Speaker 1: But if I guaranteed you, I understand what it is
- 24:37Speaker 1: you're saying, but if I said, hey, you have to
- 24:39Speaker 1: sit through all of that, and on the other side,
- 24:41Speaker 1: the Heat are going to win another title, guaranteed, it's yours, okay?
- 24:45Speaker 4: Larry O'Brien, you get it.
- 24:47Speaker 3: You wouldn't do it?
- 24:48Speaker 6: No.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Really? I would take my chances without a guarantee over
- 24:51Speaker 4: the next five years that my franchise can get it
- 24:54Speaker 4: done because it's not like it's Cavs-Warriors where you're saying, hey,
- 24:59Speaker 4: the Warriors can win four in a row, then the
- 25:01Speaker 4: Cavs will get one. Because maybe we'll face them in
- 25:05Speaker 4: the finals every single year, but more than likely not, right?
- 25:08Speaker 4: If it's in your own conference, if it's your main rival,
- 25:12Speaker 4: they have to win it and they have to probably
- 25:15Speaker 4: beat you in the playoffs pretty much all of those seasons,
- 25:18Speaker 4: if not a couple of them. And then at the
- 25:21Speaker 4: back end, you just get one. where they're just going
- 25:23Speaker 4: to be like, oh, that's nice, a little championship you
- 25:25Speaker 4: got there. What are you going to do with that
- 25:27Speaker 4: one ring? So I would say no. I'd rather take
- 25:30Speaker 4: my chances, even if I'm just competitive over those five
- 25:33Speaker 4: years and maybe make a championship round, as long as
- 25:36Speaker 4: that particular team isn't winning all four in between. Yeah, no,
- 25:40Speaker 4: I'd rather the other option.
- 25:41Speaker 1: It also depends on your favorite team's history, meaning you've
- 25:44Speaker 1: seen the Heat win a ton of championships.
- 25:46Speaker 4: I have not seen a women's volleyball team from Florida
- 25:49Speaker 4: win a championship, so that one I'd have to think about.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Right, but if you're a Wizards fan, and I have
- 25:53Speaker 3: no idea who their rival is, okay?
- 25:56Speaker 4: Salary cap, maybe?
- 25:57Speaker 3: Right, you'll sit through 10 titles from someone else if
- 26:00Speaker 3: they guarantee you won 11 years from now.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Yeah, if the Portland Trailblazers were to win 10 straight
- 26:05Speaker 4: titles and the Heat the 11th, I'll take that.
- 26:08Speaker 5: My least favorite thing about Heat fans is, yes, they
- 26:11Speaker 5: have the three titles. I'm still waiting to see the
- 26:14Speaker 5: Heat do anything without LeBron James. Like, Izzy, you're saying?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Well, they did with Dwayne Wade and Shaq.
- 26:18Speaker 5: All right, I'll take a left.
- 26:23Speaker 4: My absolute wheelhouse.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Mine too, somehow.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Not my best moment.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I mean, listen, it was Dwayne Wade, like at the
- 26:33Speaker 3: height of his powers, right?
- 26:34Speaker 4: Yeah. He was year three. It was amazing. You still had,
- 26:37Speaker 4: you know, some semblance of a decent Shaq and you had.
- 26:40Speaker 4: The most motivated backup center in the history of backup
- 26:43Speaker 4: centers in Alonzo Mourner.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Here's the other funny part of what Taylor just did.
- 26:47Speaker 1: They made it to the finals with Jimmy Butler, which
- 26:50Speaker 1: is essentially like winning a title as.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Their best player.
- 26:54Speaker 4: I think amongst Dwayne Wade's accomplishments that don't really get
- 26:57Speaker 4: discussed that much. is the fact that he won a
- 27:00Speaker 4: championship for both Jason Williams and Antoine Walker. Antoine Walker
- 27:06Speaker 4: was a critical part of that championship run somehow. And really,
- 27:10Speaker 4: it could have been anybody.
- 27:11Speaker 3: And Gary Payton.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Well, Gary. I mean, Gary deserved it. As somebody who
- 27:16Speaker 4: was such a prominent part of a team that made
- 27:19Speaker 4: a couple of finals, that's a whole different story. But
- 27:21Speaker 4: Antoine Walker, I mean, come on.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Dwayne Wade.
- 27:25Speaker 1: And he won Shaq a fourth, by the way, which
- 27:27Speaker 1: was important to Shaq because Kobe was thrilled to win
- 27:30Speaker 1: two without Shaq, and Shaq needed one without Kobe, and
- 27:33Speaker 1: Dwayne Wade got.
- 27:34Speaker 3: It for him.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and then time kept going. And then Kobe caught
- 27:37Speaker 4: up and passed him. It's unfortunate.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Dwayne Wade, so yes, Taylor, just to inform you, the
- 27:45Speaker 3: Heat have done it.
- 27:47Speaker 5: In terms of lowest moments I've had on the show,
- 27:49Speaker 5: that's up there.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Really?
- 27:50Speaker 5: Yeah, this is going to sit with me.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Really?
- 27:52Speaker 5: I just... blacked out and forgot about the the wade
- 27:55Speaker 5: shack title.
- 27:56Speaker 3: That's an odd lowest moment could someone get the old
- 27:58Speaker 3: ball coach.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Because that was just misspeaking like i misspeak all the
- 28:04Speaker 5: time right okay i take pride in my sports knowledge
- 28:07Speaker 5: and i just completely forgot about the uh the 2006 title.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Well anytime i have to remind somebody about the 2016
- 28:13Speaker 4: title i think of it as a good thing so
- 28:15Speaker 4: for me you're doing me a favor.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Let's go to uh rashad who's in north carolina today
- 28:20Speaker 3: rashad go ahead you're on fox sports radio.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Hey, buddy. What's up, guys? What's up?
- 28:25Speaker 6: I just want to talk about them Carolina Panthers, man.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah, man. They're good.
- 28:30Speaker 6: We're chilling, you know, we're getting better. Bryce Young's coming along.
- 28:34Speaker 6: But I heard a lot of talk about this Tyler
- 28:36Speaker 6: Shook guy, you know, he's coming out, he's doing his thing.
- 28:38Speaker 6: He's carrying the Saints to somewhere. But the elevation of
- 28:41Speaker 6: Bryce Young coming from what he began with and team
- 28:43Speaker 6: around him to what he's got now, you know, I've
- 28:46Speaker 6: never heard such high praise for him. And he's, you know,
- 28:48Speaker 6: getting better. Tyler Shook is coming out and he's giving
- 28:51Speaker 6: you what he's got. He might be like a Bo
- 28:52Speaker 6: Nix type, just as this is his feeling.
- 28:55Speaker 3: I think Bryce.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Bryce Young's floor is probably Tyler Shuck's ceiling, like now.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Like, that's what we're looking at now.
- 29:02Speaker 6: Yep.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, let's be honest. Shuck is super white,
- 29:05Speaker 4: so that's his advantage when it comes to people talking
- 29:08Speaker 4: about him. I think there's an easy knock on Bryce
- 29:12Speaker 4: is just because of his height and his early start,
- 29:14Speaker 4: and people don't want to, you know, admit they were
- 29:16Speaker 4: ever wrong. And so there's those elements to it. But
- 29:18Speaker 4: you're right. He does deserve to be spoken of in,
- 29:21Speaker 4: you know, good light.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You have to give Bryce some credit because– He came
- 29:25Speaker 1: out of Alabama. There were major expectations. He did not
- 29:28Speaker 1: meet those expectations at the beginning. A lot of players
- 29:31Speaker 1: would fold under those circumstances.
- 29:33Speaker 3: He's gotten better. He got to work. He's gotten better.
- 29:36Speaker 1: We were discussing yesterday, Izzy, I'm not certain there are
- 29:39Speaker 1: 10 quarterbacks you would choose. ahead of Bryce Young if
- 29:41Speaker 1: you were starting a franchise from scratch today. I know
- 29:44Speaker 1: that sounds ridiculous and crazy, but we went through the
- 29:47Speaker 1: exercise of doing it, and I'll do it again. And
- 29:50Speaker 1: I do it every single day for the remainder of time.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I am not certain there are 10 quarterbacks I would
- 29:54Speaker 1: take ahead of Bryce Young.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Um, yeah, I haven't done the math on that, but it's,
- 29:58Speaker 4: it's good to see somebody, you know, sort of overcoming
- 30:01Speaker 4: early career, you know, issues and becoming the player that
- 30:05Speaker 4: people thought, uh, he could be because obviously he's drafted
- 30:08Speaker 4: as a number one. Um, now if we can get
- 30:10Speaker 4: back to Tyler Shuck, for example, which is exactly the
- 30:14Speaker 4: opposite of what the caller wanted.
- 30:16Speaker 6: Yes.
- 30:16Speaker 4: But there was a moment in the, uh, the game
- 30:18Speaker 4: the other day against the Falcons that cracked me up
- 30:20Speaker 4: because I don't think the cameraman or the director actually
- 30:24Speaker 4: knew what they were cutting to here. Because there was
- 30:26Speaker 4: a fan that had a T-shirt that said, blank the Falcons.
- 30:32Speaker 4: And it was the F word. but it was the
- 30:34Speaker 4: F word spelled like Tyler Shuck's last name. And so
- 30:39Speaker 4: do you think that the director knew he was cutting
- 30:42Speaker 4: to a fan that basically had a misspelled curse word
- 30:45Speaker 4: on it for all of America to see? It's like, dad,
- 30:47Speaker 4: what did that shirt say? Or do you think that
- 30:50Speaker 4: was a mistake and they cut away immediately?
- 30:53Speaker 3: Taylor, what do you think? There's no way, there is
- 30:55Speaker 3: no way. I'm trying to think about this now.
- 30:59Speaker 4: I'm telling you, I don't think in this America- where
- 31:02Speaker 4: you have to be so careful about everything. He either
- 31:05Speaker 4: knew exactly what he was doing and feels like he
- 31:07Speaker 4: got away with one, or was just like, oh, no,
- 31:09Speaker 4: does that say what I think it does? If you
- 31:11Speaker 4: actually say it out loud, let me cut away immediately.
- 31:14Speaker 4: It's either a great.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Moment or he's terrified of losing his job.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was the latter.
- 31:19Speaker 5: I'm going to lean towards the innocence, Izzy, because my
- 31:23Speaker 5: dad came over from Italy. English is his second language,
- 31:26Speaker 5: and he used to take me to Yankee games all
- 31:27Speaker 5: the time growing up. And the most mad I've ever
- 31:31Speaker 5: seen my mom is when I went to a Yankee
- 31:33Speaker 5: game with my dad, I convinced him, Hey, let me
- 31:35Speaker 5: buy this shirt. He says, Yeah, sure. Why not? And
- 31:38Speaker 5: the shirt said Buck Faust. Like when I tell you
- 31:44Speaker 5: my mom dragged both of us in by the ears
- 31:47Speaker 5: into the into the house and just ripped the T-shirt
- 31:50Speaker 5: off my body and threw it out.
- 31:52Speaker 4: But even as a TV director, if I'm like seeing
- 31:54Speaker 4: if I'm at, you know, a Celtics game and I
- 31:56Speaker 4: see a bunch of or not a Celtics game, a
- 31:58Speaker 4: Knicks game or something, and it's somebody wearing. a Buck-Faustin shirt,
- 32:02Speaker 4: I'd be like, hey, even when you say that out loud,
- 32:05Speaker 4: you can look at it, it doesn't say a curse word.
- 32:07Speaker 4: When you say it out loud, it doesn't say a
- 32:09Speaker 4: curse word. This one, you're like, hey, what's that shirt? Oh, no.
- 32:14Speaker 4: It says the F word. It's just spelled differently. And
- 32:16Speaker 4: now there's kids everywhere across America saying, dad, what did
- 32:18Speaker 4: that shirt say?
- 32:19Speaker 3: When they panned over, were the announcers like, what did
- 32:22Speaker 3: the announcers do?
- 32:24Speaker 4: I think it was early on in the game where
- 32:26Speaker 4: it was just like a scenic that we're just going
- 32:28Speaker 4: to cut away from anyway. So they didn't really say anything,
- 32:30Speaker 4: didn't mention it.
- 32:31Speaker 1: So I think he was probably thinking if he did
- 32:33Speaker 1: it purposely and he knew what was on the shirt, like, hey,
- 32:36Speaker 1: the shirt could speak. No one's going to actually say
- 32:40Speaker 1: the word. I'm just going to show people what this
- 32:42Speaker 1: guy is wearing.
- 32:43Speaker 4: It's also a brilliant shirt. Yes.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Like, oh, it's great. Yes.
- 32:46Speaker 5: But when you guys see Tyler Shuck's name, do you
- 32:48Speaker 5: automatically assume the pronunciation is Shuck? Because it doesn't.
- 32:52Speaker 4: No, show.
- 32:53Speaker 5: It looks like it's spelled show, so maybe the guy
- 32:55Speaker 5: just thought the shirt said faux?
- 32:57Speaker 4: Well, that's what I'm saying. It's like the guy didn't
- 33:00Speaker 4: even give it a second thought. It's like, oh, it's
- 33:01Speaker 4: some word. And then once it's on screen, it's like, oh, no,
- 33:05Speaker 4: it's going to encourage a lot of people to say
- 33:07Speaker 4: the F word because I just put this on the screen.
- 33:10Speaker 4: I did not notice that.
- 33:11Speaker 3: But he's a Saints fan. He has to know, right?
- 33:13Speaker 4: I mean— Saints fans do, but it took me a second.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I was just like, what is that shirt?
- 33:18Speaker 4: Oh, that's a great shirt. What an amazing shirt. And,
- 33:21Speaker 4: I mean, obviously the Falcons, there's the alliteration there, so
- 33:24Speaker 4: you can't use it really, but you can use that
- 33:26Speaker 4: pronunciation of Tyler Shuck's name to your advantage by a lot.
- 33:30Speaker 1: John Stark's going to join us in a couple of
- 33:32Speaker 1: minutes here. Jalen Brunson's songs are going to be played
- 33:35Speaker 1: for him.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Taylor's worried about Carl Anthony Towns. And so am I,
- 33:38Speaker 3: quite frankly.
- 33:39Speaker 4: Why?
- 33:40Speaker 3: Because he's not signed yet. Long term.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Really? Isn't that a motivated Karl-Anthony Towns, though, Taylor?
- 33:45Speaker 5: Yeah, but Izzy, they are so far off in the numbers.
- 33:48Speaker 5: They could offer him $ 276 million, and it sounds like
- 33:50Speaker 5: the Knicks are offering $ 200 million. If I'm Carl Anthony Towns,
- 33:54Speaker 5: that's what Jalen Duren just got.
- 33:56Speaker 4: Yeah, you can't give me the same money that Jalen
- 33:58Speaker 4: Duren had to settle for. Like, you've at least got
- 34:00Speaker 4: to give me in the 220s, 225.
- 34:02Speaker 3: And I would leave if I'm him.
- 34:03Speaker 1: If they don't give him the money that he wants,
- 34:06Speaker 1: he's going to be a legend in New York City
- 34:07Speaker 1: for the remainder of time.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Especially since that organization and that owner is notorious for
- 34:11Speaker 4: not wanting to spend money, and they're not going to
- 34:13Speaker 4: go second apron. So, yeah. It's the only other option
- 34:16Speaker 4: for him.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 34:19Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Pacific.
- 34:25Speaker 5: NFL Week 5 is here, and this one's personal. Bears vs.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Packers this Sunday, America's Game of the Week, streaming live
- 34:31Speaker 5: on Fox 1 at 1 p.m. Eastern. This rivalry needs
- 34:35Speaker 5: no introduction. Bears and Packers, one of the oldest in
- 34:38Speaker 5: the NFL. There's no bigger stage to settle it than
- 34:40Speaker 5: this one. Don't worry, you can catch every can't-miss play
- 34:43Speaker 5: before it becomes a highlight. Bears vs. Packers, live Sunday
- 34:47Speaker 5: on Fox 1.
- 34:48Speaker 4: The rivalry doesn't need an introduction, but the Bears quarterback does.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Nobody knows who that is.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Special Bajent? Yes. Izzy, Taylor is beaming today.
- 35:01Speaker 4: Should be.
- 35:01Speaker 1: He started off the show by saying in 2004, a
- 35:05Speaker 1: fourth grade Taylor, if he could choose any two guests,
- 35:08Speaker 1: it would be Gary Sheffield and John Starks. I was
- 35:11Speaker 1: debating whether or not we should play one of Jalen
- 35:13Speaker 1: Brunson's songs for John Starks.
- 35:15Speaker 3: We just did it, and man, did John Starks love
- 35:20Speaker 3: Taylor's song about Jalen Brunson.
- 35:21Speaker 4: I'm not sure what he loved more, the song itself,
- 35:23Speaker 4: or just the fact that he didn't have to talk
- 35:25Speaker 4: at all during it, which is great. But it was, yeah,
- 35:28Speaker 4: it was a banger. He immediately recognized it, and... You know,
- 35:31Speaker 4: even though he's making fun of Taylor's, I guess, singing voice,
- 35:35Speaker 4: which isn't really the whole point. Right. I think overall
- 35:37Speaker 4: it went over pretty well.
- 35:38Speaker 3: The funny part is Taylor's singing voice. One of the
- 35:41Speaker 3: funny parts.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Yes.
- 35:42Speaker 5: So it went about as well as it could go
- 35:44Speaker 5: for me. And you could tell listening back to that
- 35:47Speaker 5: how well I thought it was going. When I try
- 35:49Speaker 5: to sneak in an invitation to say courtside within.
- 35:52Speaker 4: The Madison Square Garden.
- 35:53Speaker 3: I know, courtside, yes.
- 35:54Speaker 5: I was like, oh, man, if I'm making John Starks
- 35:56Speaker 5: laugh this much, maybe he wants to hang out with me.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I think he does, actually. I think he would take
- 36:01Speaker 3: you to a regular season game against a bad team,
- 36:04Speaker 3: bad opponent.
- 36:05Speaker 5: The Grizzlies, let's say. The Wizards.
- 36:06Speaker 3: The Wizards are good this year, maybe.
- 36:08Speaker 5: The Wizards are sneaky good.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Oh, stop it right now.
- 36:12Speaker 4: I will, but okay.
- 36:13Speaker 6: What?
- 36:14Speaker 4: They got Anthony Davis and Trey Young now, and A.J. DeBonson.
- 36:17Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 36:19Speaker 1: But the second Anthony Davis goes down, and that might
- 36:21Speaker 1: be in the first couple of seconds, they will no
- 36:24Speaker 1: longer be.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Good, right? Is that fair?
- 36:27Speaker 4: Yeah, they'll be stinky again. It'll be a Trey Young
- 36:29Speaker 4: team all over again.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Izzy, I have a question for you before we get
- 36:32Speaker 3: to this Michigan group text story that's going on right now.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Has your life been made infinitely better, less stressful now?
- 36:40Speaker 3: By not being a part of Taylor's softball team.
- 36:42Speaker 4: Oh, man. There's so many reasons why I love not
- 36:45Speaker 4: playing softball. One is I don't have to be there.
- 36:49Speaker 4: And two, yeah, the team's way better without me.
- 36:54Speaker 3: You're a team player.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Let me just say, it's not like they only removed
- 36:57Speaker 4: me and all of a sudden have become this great
- 37:00Speaker 4: juggernaut of a softball team. They added a few of
- 37:02Speaker 4: my friends who are pretty decent softball players. And so
- 37:06Speaker 4: now they've got, you know, one through whatever it is, 10,
- 37:08Speaker 4: 11 players. that they've got a pretty solid lineup and
- 37:12Speaker 4: now they're running that league.
- 37:13Speaker 5: Yeah, Stu, what we basically did is imagine there was
- 37:16Speaker 5: like an AL versus NL All-Star game. We just went
- 37:19Speaker 5: there to scout and we took like the best five
- 37:21Speaker 5: people from those games.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Some ringers.
- 37:23Speaker 5: Yeah, we added them to our team. And right now...
- 37:27Speaker 5: I love our manager, Tony. But we're invoking analytics now
- 37:35Speaker 5: to our lineup. That's why Ian got moved to the
- 37:37Speaker 5: top of the lineup, and then Ian promptly... Ian turns
- 37:40Speaker 5: to me and goes... Taylor, I'm going to let you
- 37:42Speaker 5: know this right now. I'm not built for the top
- 37:44Speaker 5: of the lineup. And he immediately went 0 for 3.
- 37:47Speaker 5: And I was like, oh, Ian, it's so perfect that
- 37:48Speaker 5: you're a Yankee fan because, again, not built for the moment.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yes, Tony seems like Gary Sheffield, who said earlier that
- 37:54Speaker 1: he would change the Yankees lineup and put more speed
- 37:56Speaker 1: at the top.
- 37:57Speaker 4: That's where all the old heads would be like, see,
- 37:59Speaker 4: analytics don't tell everything. This guy knows he's not a
- 38:02Speaker 4: top of the lineup hitter. You should listen to him.
- 38:04Speaker 5: And Izzy, the problem is with the stats that are
- 38:07Speaker 5: being kept, if you just reach first base, you're getting–
- 38:11Speaker 5: credited with with a single or you're getting credited with
- 38:14Speaker 5: a hit oh wow if you make contact.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Where was that last it's the manager he's been waiting
- 38:20Speaker 3: for his entire life.
- 38:21Speaker 5: So while i'm railing against the analytics i think we
- 38:24Speaker 5: actually need more analytics to determine like barrel rate and
- 38:29Speaker 5: exit velocity because stew some of my hits some of
- 38:32Speaker 5: my hits are are so feeble and pathetic yes they're
- 38:35Speaker 5: dribbling like barely reaching third base it's a hit and
- 38:38Speaker 5: i'm getting on first base and they're like oh taylor
- 38:41Speaker 5: like look at the stats you're batting 750 i'm like
- 38:43Speaker 5: guys my all 750s are not created equally.
- 38:47Speaker 3: So in your personal record book you're batting like 250.
- 38:49Speaker 5: Yeah and like if i hit into a fielder's choice
- 38:52Speaker 5: because i'm getting on first base i'm pretty sure they're
- 38:54Speaker 5: still counting that as me reaching like We're keeping stats.
- 38:58Speaker 5: The stats are basically doing us a disservice right now
- 39:01Speaker 5: at this point.
- 39:02Speaker 3: How about you guys just go out and drink a
- 39:03Speaker 3: six-pack of beer and take some hacks? I mean, it's softball.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Stop taking it so seriously.
- 39:09Speaker 5: And the last game was a disaster for me in
- 39:11Speaker 5: terms of Not in terms of the field, because you
- 39:14Speaker 5: guys know I'm Andrew Jones when I'm out there. Of course, right.
- 39:16Speaker 5: And now you're Hank Aaron batting 750. A ball got hit.
- 39:20Speaker 5: I'm in left field, and a ball got hit over
- 39:22Speaker 5: my head. And I'm going backwards. I'm going backwards. I'm like,
- 39:25Speaker 5: I think I'm here. And then, like, two feet before
- 39:28Speaker 5: the ball is about to land— I look up and
- 39:30Speaker 5: I go, oh no, I don't think I'm even close
- 39:32Speaker 5: to where this ball is. So I do like as
- 39:34Speaker 5: fast a back pedal as I can and I leap
- 39:37Speaker 5: and I catch the ball. and it's like a mix
- 39:40Speaker 5: between a leap and a stumble, because I stumble backwards,
- 39:44Speaker 5: I land straight on my head, and I look at everybody,
- 39:47Speaker 5: I just hear everybody go collectively, oh! And I look
- 39:51Speaker 5: at my glove, and I'm like, oh, thank God I
- 39:53Speaker 5: still have the ball. And then the next morning I
- 39:55Speaker 5: woke up, Izzy, and I was like, man, my neck
- 39:57Speaker 5: is killing me. Like, I must have slept wrong, and
- 39:59Speaker 5: I was like, oh, no, I just landed 185 pounds
- 40:01Speaker 5: directly onto my neck.
- 40:02Speaker 2: 185, huh?
- 40:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Sneaky 185.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Andrew Jones, you are.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Listen.
- 40:09Speaker 4: I hate playing the sport, but if you need to
- 40:11Speaker 4: get the scoring corrected, I'll go score a game for
- 40:14Speaker 4: you guys. That way Tony doesn't have to put this.
- 40:15Speaker 5: That's a waste of a Monday.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Night for you. I mean, it's a ridiculous thing. A
- 40:19Speaker 4: fielder's choice as a single, I mean, he needs to
- 40:21Speaker 4: be corrected.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Absurd, yes. But you've been waiting for this manager. It
- 40:24Speaker 3: seems like you should jump back into play.
- 40:26Speaker 4: No, I think Tony was on the team when I played.
- 40:28Speaker 4: He's one of the reasons I wanted to play. It's
- 40:30Speaker 4: because he decided to play with us. But I think
- 40:32Speaker 4: he saw who we had on the squad and was like,
- 40:34Speaker 4: I don't need to keep down for this team. I'll
- 40:36Speaker 4: save that for next season. You seem happier. Oh, man,
- 40:41Speaker 4: I'm so happy. I'm happy as P.J. Fleck after a win.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Rubbing blood all over someone else's blood all over his face.
- 40:49Speaker 1: What interests you about the Michigan group text story?
- 40:52Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 40:52Speaker 3: It's kind of funny.
- 40:53Speaker 4: I mean, it's hilarious, right? It's already bad enough that
- 40:56Speaker 4: you saw it. I came across it on Instagram, and
- 40:59Speaker 4: so it's basically like, all right, oh, wow, this guy's
- 41:01Speaker 4: really going off, da-da-da. Okay, this is a group text.
- 41:04Speaker 4: And then to see at the end where he says,
- 41:06Speaker 4: all right, basically our offense sucks. Because if you blitz us,
- 41:09Speaker 4: we have no answers. We have an extra O-lineman on
- 41:12Speaker 4: the field every play and run different versions of power
- 41:14Speaker 4: read every play. Clown emoji. Also, Beck tells Bryce where
- 41:18Speaker 4: to go on every play and it gets strapped. Bryce is,
- 41:21Speaker 4: I love that terminology. Bryce is a good quarterback. Beck
- 41:24Speaker 4: is a problem. And then in parentheses, I never said
- 41:30Speaker 4: this and this better not ever leave this group chat.
- 41:35Speaker 4: What level of betrayal? I don't care what's happening in
- 41:38Speaker 4: the Michigan tight ends room. I don't care what's happening
- 41:41Speaker 4: in their offensive meetings. I'm sure Zach Miller's like, I
- 41:44Speaker 4: don't care. Other people believe this. I don't care. But
- 41:46Speaker 4: in that friend group, in that chat, it has to
- 41:50Speaker 4: be absolute Armageddon.
- 41:52Speaker 5: Yes.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Like you, the worst possible scenario. It wasn't the coaches
- 41:56Speaker 4: got wind of this. It wasn't that, you know, our
- 41:59Speaker 4: girlfriends got wind of this and are chatting. Oh my,
- 42:02Speaker 4: there's some, you know, some drama in the Michigan team.
- 42:05Speaker 4: It went public.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Wow.
- 42:07Speaker 4: And you just can't be friends with any of these
- 42:10Speaker 4: people unless you're absolutely certain how this got out.
- 42:14Speaker 1: So when you enter a group text like that and
- 42:16Speaker 1: you're talking about things you probably shouldn't be talking about
- 42:19Speaker 1: with people.
- 42:20Speaker 3: That you don't trust.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Big mistake, number one.
- 42:22Speaker 3: You have to.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Know that it should not have to be stated that, hey,
- 42:26Speaker 1: this stays right here. Do not share it with anyone else.
- 42:29Speaker 1: He made the mistake of doing it with people he
- 42:31Speaker 1: shouldn't be trusting, right?
- 42:32Speaker 4: It should be the name of the group chat. This
- 42:35Speaker 4: goes nowhere. Like, especially when you're talking about like you're
- 42:39Speaker 4: a member of a big, you know, college program like
- 42:42Speaker 4: Michigan and you're being critical in a time where, you know,
- 42:45Speaker 4: the rest of the world's already being critical of them.
- 42:47Speaker 4: They have a win they shouldn't even have. And they've
- 42:49Speaker 4: been terrible on top of that. and yet this gets out,
- 42:53Speaker 4: and now you are the scapegoat. You are part of
- 42:55Speaker 4: the problem at Michigan instead of somebody who's probably airing
- 43:00Speaker 4: out proper grievances.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Izzy, there's two parts to this where the first part,
- 43:04Speaker 5: you hit on it. You have to cut off this
- 43:06Speaker 5: group chat.
- 43:07Speaker 3: For life.
- 43:08Speaker 5: You cannot trust anybody in that group chat. I don't
- 43:10Speaker 5: care if everybody's telling you they didn't send it. This
- 43:14Speaker 5: group chat is done.
- 43:15Speaker 3: They're not your friends.
- 43:16Speaker 5: Yes, this group chat died yesterday. The second part of that...
- 43:20Speaker 5: This kid's done at Michigan. The second it becomes public
- 43:24Speaker 5: that you're calling your offensive coordinator a clown, how bad
- 43:27Speaker 5: the situation is, I don't think there's any coming back
- 43:30Speaker 5: from it. Unless this guy, Zach Marshall, was the next coming...
- 43:36Speaker 5: of of greg olson at the tight end position he's
- 43:38Speaker 5: a senior he's a senior with zero catches and zero
- 43:41Speaker 5: yards right and in your senior season you have 199
- 43:43Speaker 5: career receiving yards like there's no coming back from this if.
- 43:47Speaker 1: You're this kid well i was gonna say the kids
- 43:49Speaker 1: the athletes have more power than ever but the athlete
- 43:52Speaker 1: also has to be good and apparently this this athlete
- 43:55Speaker 1: is not very.
- 43:55Speaker 4: Good right not very good i mean not by the
- 43:57Speaker 4: statistics anyway but maybe it's because his offensive coordinator is
- 44:00Speaker 4: terrible and his head coach is terrible now he did
- 44:02Speaker 4: apologize because What are you going to do? Say I'm
- 44:04Speaker 4: going to transfer? There's nowhere to go. I mean, you
- 44:06Speaker 4: got no eligibility left. And so he said last weekend
- 44:10Speaker 4: and the hours after we lost, I made some inappropriate
- 44:12Speaker 4: comments that I regret. He doesn't regret the comments.
- 44:14Speaker 3: No, of course not.
- 44:15Speaker 4: He regrets the people he made it to.
- 44:17Speaker 3: He regrets having the friends that he chose.
- 44:20Speaker 4: I mean, just the utmost betrayal, the worst possible betrayal.
- 44:24Speaker 4: is leaking group chat information.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Do we know the exact person who leaked it? Like,
- 44:29Speaker 1: I'm just trying to wonder how that conversation.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Went once he realized that someone didn't listen.
- 44:35Speaker 4: And released all of it. Well, here's the thing, too. Like,
- 44:37Speaker 4: a coach has to ask him, hey, Who else is
- 44:39Speaker 4: in this chat? Anybody else from the team? Anybody else
- 44:42Speaker 4: who I've got to yell at? And he's got to
- 44:44Speaker 4: be honest there. And he's got to be a snitch
- 44:46Speaker 4: because he's already been snitched on. So, yeah, I would
- 44:48Speaker 4: out everybody in that scenario.
- 44:50Speaker 3: It is interesting. Kyle Whittingham, who should have stayed at Utah.
- 44:53Speaker 3: I'm not certain there's a coach who's ever lost his
- 44:56Speaker 3: team quicker than Kyle Whittingham has lost this team.
- 44:59Speaker 4: I mean, seriously.
- 45:00Speaker 3: At Utah, no one cares about this stuff.
- 45:02Speaker 6: Right.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I mean, you get 10 wins, 9 wins.
- 45:03Speaker 3: You go to a bowl game. Maybe you make a playoff.
- 45:05Speaker 3: You're happy. You can't do that in Michigan. And he
- 45:08Speaker 3: has learned that very quickly.
- 45:09Speaker 4: You know what? If I was a reporter, now that
- 45:11Speaker 4: I think about it, I would only try to get
- 45:13Speaker 4: just a quick view of some group chats. Like, that's
- 45:15Speaker 4: got to be where all the good stuff is. Like,
- 45:17Speaker 4: that's got to be where the good stuff is.
- 45:20Speaker 3: That's where the stuff that people think is safe is public. Yes,
- 45:25Speaker 3: you're right.
- 45:26Speaker 6: Izzy.
- 45:27Speaker 3: I have a list of topics here. There is one
- 45:29Speaker 3: topic we haven't gotten to yet. I circled it. I
- 45:32Speaker 3: have no idea what to do with it. I'm going
- 45:34Speaker 3: to ask Taylor what he thinks you're going to do
- 45:36Speaker 3: with it. You simply wrote down, I have to put
- 45:40Speaker 3: my glasses on, stop, drop, and roll. Oh, right.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, there's really nothing to this. I was
- 45:48Speaker 4: just thinking about this the other day. I was like,
- 45:50Speaker 4: how many people do you know that have caught fire?
- 45:53Speaker 4: And to me, the answer is no.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Zero. Like, On fire?
- 45:57Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, it can't be more than zero.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Just trying to think of some of the dead shows.
- 46:04Speaker 3: If I was ever on fire.
- 46:06Speaker 4: Taylor, you knew anybody that has caught fire?
- 46:09Speaker 5: I have not. The second you asked that question, Ricardo
- 46:13Speaker 5: said one.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Really? Let's hear about it. Ricardo. Ricky Mantle.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Well, the good thing is, is he had this mantra, stop, drop,
- 46:21Speaker 4: and roll, which has been taught to us since we
- 46:22Speaker 4: were children, which made me think that, you know, people
- 46:25Speaker 4: catching fire is something that happens. Like, what was going
- 46:28Speaker 4: on in the 80s when I was growing up, and
- 46:30Speaker 4: we were all growing up, I guess, where, like, catching
- 46:32Speaker 4: fire was such a fear that we had to have this,
- 46:35Speaker 4: you know, perfectly understandable mantra that we would go to,
- 46:39Speaker 4: and if we ever caught fire, I knew exactly what
- 46:40Speaker 4: to do, but it's almost a disappointment, like... Nobody catches fire.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Why did we have to know stop, drop, roll? Like,
- 46:47Speaker 4: why was that embedded into my brain for the entirety
- 46:50Speaker 4: of my life?
- 46:51Speaker 3: Yes.
- 46:51Speaker 4: When really it's like, eh, not very important.
- 46:54Speaker 3: You feel like it's unnecessary.
- 46:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 3: I mean, you learned it in the, you know, in
- 46:58Speaker 3: the rare instance that you caught on.
- 47:01Speaker 4: That's right.
- 47:01Speaker 3: You have to know what to do. That's exactly right.
- 47:04Speaker 5: Because if, say, Izzy, say if the chances of catching
- 47:08Speaker 5: on fire is. 0005 %, When it's probably even lower
- 47:13Speaker 5: than that, if we're being honest. If for some reason
- 47:17Speaker 5: I am caught in that. 0005 %, I would like
- 47:21Speaker 5: to think that somewhere in the back of my mind,
- 47:23Speaker 5: I would go, hey, remember in kindergarten when you learned stop, drop,
- 47:25Speaker 5: and roll? Yep.
- 47:26Speaker 4: It's time, baby.
- 47:28Speaker 5: This is what you practiced for.
- 47:29Speaker 4: In case it happens to you, yes. I mean.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Only if it's 1,000% certain to work. But I'm pretty
- 47:36Speaker 4: sure if I catch fire and start rolling around, I'll
- 47:39Speaker 4: still be on fire.
- 47:40Speaker 5: This is how I felt about quicksand, though, growing up, too.
- 47:44Speaker 4: What about it?
- 47:45Speaker 5: Like quicksand, you would see it in the movies.
- 47:47Speaker 3: You would just see it in Scooby-Doo.
- 47:49Speaker 4: No. No, it was really like the A-Team, maybe. Indiana Jones, too.
- 47:53Speaker 4: They never told you how to get out of quicksand.
- 47:55Speaker 4: It was like, ooh, quicksand might be a problem. Fire, however,
- 47:58Speaker 4: they know exactly what to do.
- 47:59Speaker 5: Yeah, like I would go, like say in kindergarten, I
- 48:02Speaker 5: just watched Indiana Jones with my parents. I thought the
- 48:06Speaker 5: next day I would be walking to school and encounter quicksand.
- 48:11Speaker 4: What do you do? You got to stay perfectly still,
- 48:14Speaker 4: I think, for as long as possible.
- 48:16Speaker 5: You have to basically wait until somebody saves you.
- 48:18Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 48:19Speaker 4: Do not stop, drop, and roll.
- 48:21Speaker 3: I was so tempted when you asked me if I
- 48:22Speaker 3: knew anyone who caught on fire to say Michael Jordan.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Have a good night, everyone.
