Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The Retail Crime Group. This is the group the government
- 0:02Speaker 1: set up to fight retail crime. When it's been disbanded
- 0:04Speaker 1: early May. It was meant to end September. Goldsmith's'ys is
- 0:07Speaker 1: because all the resignations that we've had you've heard about those.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Only two of the five members are remaining. Carolyn Young quit.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We spoke to her at the time when she did
- 0:16Speaker 1: retail and zed Carolen good morning, Hey, Jonas good thank you,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Sonny Kashell's reckons they were so productive that they could
- 0:24Speaker 1: wrap early. What do you reckon?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Look, I think retail crime is a very complex issue
- 0:29Speaker 2: and you've never solved it. There's always a lot more
- 0:31Speaker 2: to do and a lot of different things that you
- 0:33Speaker 2: can look at around how you can help support retail
- 0:36Speaker 2: and create better environments in our community to shop in.
- 0:40Speaker 2: So I don't think we've solved retail crime. I think
- 0:43Speaker 2: there's a couple of things that might help it. It's
- 0:47Speaker 2: never solved, you.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Know, Okay, But has the rate come down? You know,
- 0:51Speaker 1: is there any tangible evidence that anything's improved, Because there's
- 0:54Speaker 1: a bill of that's progressing through the House, there's more
- 0:56Speaker 1: changes apparently coming, but is the rate actually come down?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Not at the moment. No, we haven't seen those changes,
- 1:03Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:05Speaker 1: So what do you make of what he's saying?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Then just bluster? Well, it's an election year, isn't it.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And he is a candidate or has been a candidate
- 1:13Speaker 2: for Labor and has been a candidate for National. I'm
- 1:15Speaker 2: sure he'll be standing for a party again this year
- 1:19Speaker 2: and we were wanting to secure votes. So you have
- 1:23Speaker 2: to really pick between what's the one of the headline
- 1:27Speaker 2: news and what's the actual news. So I think for
- 1:29Speaker 2: the understanding, what are the impacts of anything that's been
- 1:32Speaker 2: put in place and hasn't made a difference.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Which party do you reckon?
- 1:35Speaker 2: Carolyn? Well, you know, I'm not sure of and you'd
- 1:39Speaker 2: have to ask Sonny, but obviously Breon would think it
- 1:42Speaker 2: would be National, but it could be one of the
- 1:45Speaker 2: other parties as well, have.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Been New Zealand First Calm will leave it there. Krolyn
- 1:48Speaker 1: Young Retail Ends and CEO, former member of the Retail
- 1:52Speaker 1: Crime Advisory Group, which will all be over and made.
