- 0:06SPEAKER_01: Hello and welcome to This Is The Thing, where we get into all the things we read Seen Heard and got a little too obsessed with this week.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: I'm Lindsay.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: This is my Good Heard and Vip, and this is our very first official episode.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, it's exciting.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Official.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: We're official.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: So we've been working on this for about a month.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: And so if you go to the show link and if you find us anywhere, you find us on Apple, Spotify, which, if you're listening to this, you found it.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Um, you will find a few of our first episodes where we are kind of working things out.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: It's still very similar to what you're gonna hear here.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: And also our Meet Bevan Lindsay episode, yes, where we talk about how we met, who we are, all the people we're gonna reference, like Aaron, your husband, your kids, my dog.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: And so you'll kind of like have a quick cheat sheet about who we are.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So start from the beginning if you can, and if you want to, if you fans, and get to know us from the get-go.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: And so people have kind of been like, okay, so what is this is the thing?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: So this is we talked about like well, what are we into?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: What do we talk about?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Well, we're into true crime, we're into reading, we're into watching, we're into listening, we're into pop culture.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: I'm into reality TV.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: So this is the thing, is all the things.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: And there's gonna be kind of a format that we're trying to loosely follow.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: This is the thing happening this week.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: This is the thing in true crime, this is the thing in pop culture, this is a thing that we're reading.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: So you know what to expect from every show.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: It's all the things.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: All the things.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Well, this is the thing.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: You know what this is the thing.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: About it.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: We like to overthink too.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: That's so there's a lot of things.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: This is what we're overthinking.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of obsessing and a lot of overthinking and a lot of spiraling.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: So yeah, so we hope it's all the things that you guys are into as well.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: We're all in the same things and chatting about it.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: What we wanted to tell you is while setting this up, we have a Yahoo account.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: A Yahoo.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: It's not because we're a hundred years old.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Well, part of that too.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: But I almost just went full hotmail.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: It was like, forget it.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Because if you guys haven't tried to set up a Gmail lately, they only let you have a few.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: And I happen to have three, which of course the other two I didn't even remember besides my main one.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Like, when did I set these up?
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: I guess I could have canceled those and then made this.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: But anyway, Gmail blocked me out.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I tried to create a Gmail account as well.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: But I hit a roadblock and I think I only have one.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I have one.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Aaron has one, but I only have one.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And so when I tried to set up a new one, whoa, sorry.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: My boyfriend spam's calling me.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: He calls every time we record, and then I have to turn it off.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: He's obsessed with you.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Oh my God.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: So when I tried to set up a Gmail account, because I only have one.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Aaron has one.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: I have one.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I only have one.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: But I hit a roadblock when it was like, you're here, scan.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: First of all, you have to scan your QR, which I'm already over.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Please know.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: You're like immediately no.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Hard no on any QR or portals or anything.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: And so when I when I scanned it, it like said, here, it'll say a text, a text.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: You need to verify with your verify something.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: But there was a code that I just pressed send because I was like, where do you do that?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: And then nothing happened after that.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Zero.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I think I got like a sorry, you're like denied after I after I got that bar.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: And you bring up a point that drives me crazy is I have so many logins and portals.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: I went to Pure Bar recently and it was great.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: B-A-R-R-E.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: It's like it's like one of those ballet work.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: The ballet, yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: It's fun.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: But the point is, is like they were like, okay, well, download our app.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: And then you can create an account and assign in and make your, you know, sign up for your classes.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I have it almost made me quit.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: It almost made me be, well, I'll never be back.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: You'll never see my face.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: I'm not, I can't.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: I can't.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: There's I can't do another app.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I can't have another password.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I can't do it.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I'm committing to someone.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm committing to this workout.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: I can't commit to your app too.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: But everything is an app.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: So also download our app and then you can listen.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: I'm kidding.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: I'm kidding.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: But I mean, I don't know.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: By the end of this first episode, we're gonna be like, you know what?
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Let's make it apply to make it app.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: You can only listen on our app exclusively.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Scan the QR code.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: So what was your thing this week?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Well, I am I I have a very exciting, fulfilling, beautiful, glamorous life.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: By that I mean I have been obsessively, obsessively tracking my refrigerator.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Where is it?
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: It's still in transit.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: There's no way.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: It doesn't, it a week ago, it is still in transit.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: It kills me.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: A week ago, I got the it's in transit, and then I've been checking and there's no update.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, there's no update.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: And you know, to be fair, it says when it arrives in the warehouse, the local warehouse, then they'll call you.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: But we are officially in the window of from now until next Tuesday, we're that's the delivery window.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: So I am just sort of in limbo waiting.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I went to Halloween's this weekend.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: There's a soccer tournament.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like there's we're not around a lot this weekend.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So, and I don't think do refrigerators even deliver on a weekend?
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I have no clue.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: No idea.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I have no idea.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: But if they want to deliver Friday morning at nine o'clock, if you're listening to refrigerator, if you're listening, appliance delivery man.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: I can I like you can come by it at nine o'clock Friday morning.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: And then otherwise, no, otherwise leave it in the front yard and Aaron will carry it inside.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: One of these days in November.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: But what have you done this week?
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: I went to a wedding on Saturday night, which was beautiful.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Um, congratulations, Michael and Olivia.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: My friend's niece got married.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: So a few things happened.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: First of all, my friend and I, and then our other best friend were there, and we were like, were we ever this young?
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: Because they're 27, they're dancing, they're having the time of their life, they're chanting all the songs and the dance floor.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: They had their necks were amazing.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: They're dressed, you guys, the dresses of these girls and how they look at 27.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: I just did not.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't know the evolution of how that happens, but I'm like, you all look like supermodels with the best dress ever.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: And I know I can remember me at that age, and I was wearing some horrible thing.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: My makeup was a mess, had not figured out my hair yet.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Just so many things.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I okay.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: It was okay, it was okay.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: It was not Carrie Bradshaw.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: It was Carrie Bradshaw.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: It was not the level of these girls now.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: And I I think it's maybe YouTube and TikTok.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Like they can teach themselves to do makeup at 11 years old.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Instead of slowly figuring out how terrible they are through pictures.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Well, there's an app for that.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: There's for that.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: There's an app for that.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Um, that was the first part of my thought about it.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: It was beautiful, a beautiful wedding.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Also, I was sober, and it was probably the first time I've ever been sober at a wedding.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: How is that?
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: First of all, I want to say I don't drink.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: I'm not sober.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: To say I'm sober, I think takes away from people who like have gone through the 12 steps.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: And like you see me eat picture of me like writing in my journal and stuff.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: And I just have chosen not to drink.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: So I don't want to take away from other people.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: Anyway, it was it was interesting.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: At first, it's like very uncomfortable.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: You think every thought, you're like, am I talking?
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Am I a person?
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Is there something on my nose?
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: What am I saying?
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Do I say something next?
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Am I talking too much?
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: Am I talking too little?
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Were people staring at you or something?
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: No, they're just so hyper aware when you're in a situation with your where you're really mingling with people you don't know.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: That's where a drink really comes in handy in those situations.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: But then I got used to it and I was like, it's okay.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: I'm a person, I'm talking, I'm saying things.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: Did you find everyone insufferable?
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: No, okay.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: I think if I had been like I was with my friend and her husband who had some drinks, and you know, my friend who was there had some drinks, but it's not like I didn't know a lot of people.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: If I had been with a group of 30 people that were like jumping and screaming and dancing on the dance floor, like that that wasn't my group.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: I would have felt like I'm too old and out of place.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: But I didn't.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was very fun.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: It was just, it's just interesting how much alcohol is like such a good social lube, you know, for sure.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I think I would have found everyone just really obnoxious and I would have wanted to go home.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: But but like you said, you're not in that group of people dancing on the tables and dancing.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we were just like talking, hanging out.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: That's I would have been over there right next to you.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Do you have any thoughts about Halloween week that you're nervous about the kids' costumes or anything?
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not nervous about their cost.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: They're having a a a great time.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: This is what's funny, though, is that we have we have moved out officially of the cute stuff.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Last year, Natalie and her best friend were cows, dairy cows, like dairy cows.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: In a onesie.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: And so it was like a zip-up situation.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: They plopped it on their head.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: It was the easiest, cutest, that's what.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: You know, because it was kind of chilly.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: I think this weekend is actually like 70.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: It's like around 70 degrees.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: And I hate that.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Maybe a little bit of rain too, which might add to the mood.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she was a cow last year.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Will was kind of, he was a little bit like bruised and bloodied last year because he went as men trampled by two cows.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Not that we were together the whole night, but a pick, you know, a photo to get them together.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: I was like, this is cute.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: You know, you're a man trampled by two cows.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: This year we're And Will are twins, by the way.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: They are twins, yes.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: They are twins.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: And so this year, Will he and his best friend are wearing a hospital, they're they're hospital gowns, but they came bloodied already.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: So it's like a gown.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: And the way he looked last year was like kind of mummied up.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: But he it's a gown this year, and it's got a lot of fake blood on it.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: And he, and they each chose like a really scary, creepy mask.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: And so there's an axe, there's a bat.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: They're gonna be running your, I don't know.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: It's like it's fine.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: But then this year, Natalie and her gaggle of friends, they have bedazzled some scream masks.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: I saw on Instagram.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: They were very yes, they're really cute.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Nat's almost done with hers, and it's I mean, it's intense.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: There's all bedazzling takes a long time.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Which is why I don't bedazzle.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: I don't bedazzle.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: I stopped bedazzling my jeans because of that.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Well, there's an app for that.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: But so she's working, she's about to be finished with that.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna hand out some candy.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Me and my niece will hand out some candy, and I hope to see some some cute kiddos.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: No big parties.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: No big party.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not gonna go to a party sober and then like report about it next week.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, this is the thing I saw online literally just this morning that I can't stop thinking about.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: I'm nervous.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: I gotta put my reading glasses on.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: You guys can't see because we're not video yet, but I'm putting my reading glasses on.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: 18-month-old Vincent Fiordalino was found in a morgue in Gilbert, Arizona, more than five hours after he was mistakenly pronounced dead.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: I saw.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: What?
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: The chills.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: In the world.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: The whole body chills.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: So it was February, it was Super Soul Super Bowl Sunday, just this last year, February 8th.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: His parents were having people over or something, and they this is also a parent's biggest nightmare.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: They found him in the pool unresponsive.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: So parents are busy, having a party, nothing wrong.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: They he wanders outside and falls in the family pool.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: So there, that story's happened a million times and it's devastating.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: But that's what happened to him.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: So the parents, along with the baby, obviously are rushed to the hospital.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: They're trying to resuscitate him, all of these things.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: And about 620, which does not matter, the doctor on duty was like, I think we can pronounce him dead.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: I think we can call it.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: Well, the parents are sitting there and they think they see him like breathe again.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: And they said, No, it's I am losing the word for it now, but it's like the last uh death breath.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: There's an actual term for it.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: And the doctor said that.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: And the parents, I were kind of like, believed him.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Uh, they took Vincent to the morgue.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: The hospital took him to the morgue, and someone there was, you know, getting ready to do some things to the body and was like, this baby's still alive.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: Rush them back to like a trauma hospital.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: He's still alive to this day.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: But the parents are like, he's not, he's not the same.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: He's not the same.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: There's some delays.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: And he had all he had some first words that he was saying.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: And those are I know.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say, did I say how old this baby was?
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: Well, I thought it was like, no, I don't remember.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: It's a toddler.
- 12:26SPEAKER_01: It wasn't necessarily baby.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: And let me find he was well, he was 18 months old.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: That's okay, that's that's a baby.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: That's a baby.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, that gives me just chills on so many levels.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: 100%.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: That's awful.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Hey, just waking up in a morgue, are you kidding?
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: I don't care if you're 18 months or 18 years, like that's horrific.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And it's also horrific for the parents, like on so many levels.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: My child wakes up in the morgue.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: I'm happy that he woke up in the morgue versus not, but that's that's awful.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: That's terrible.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: And this happened like last this happened, yeah, this February is when it happened.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: I wonder why it's just not being talked about because I saw it on the New York Times this morning.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's interesting too.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Just know if you die in my presence, I will sit with you for days to make sure there's not another after the story.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Like I will not leave.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: You're welcome.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: That's nice.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: It's good, it's good to have just I think everybody should like pinpoint a person that like that's your job is to make sure she's really dead.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: That's horrible.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: Just make sure she's really dead.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: So, in the same vein, kind of, but this is the thing in true crime this week.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: Um, I think that's an update for us about the Laura Owens Bachelor.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Can you back up and tell this story a little bit?
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: A little, I've talked about this podcast forever.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: I say forever, for the past few months, called Love Trapped.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: And it's everywhere.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: It's the it's the one of the old bachelor contestants.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: I'm drawing a blank on his name, Cole.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: That's not it at all.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, you keep talking.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he he was he was sort of an unlike Clayton Eckert.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Clayton Eckert, that's right.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: I knew there was a C in there.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: He was unlikable on the show for various reasons.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: If you watch The Bachelor, I I never watched the I listened to Love Trap 2 and they kept saying the most hated bachelor.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: And we'll follow up and tell you next week why, because I don't remember.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Well, he was just really honest about his intimacies with multiple women.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: And they were all just like, what?
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: He really took advantage of the fantasy suite.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Is that what they call it?
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: I've never watched it.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: They okay.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: They all go to like one of the last things after he's courting all these women is he can spend the night with them, basically.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: And I think they call it the fantasy suite, which sounds a little wrong to me.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: But he gets he, and a lot of times they're like, oh, nothing happened.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: We talked, we drank champagne, I went to sleep.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: But I think he slept with all the women on the fantasy suite.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: And then talked to all about it.
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And like mo that's a little bit of that's a bachelor faux pas.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, for sure.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Well, the whole show was set up anyway.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: So he was he was most hated, you know.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: And fast forward, he's starting over in his life and he becomes a I think a realtor in Arizona.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: It was Stocksdale, Scottsdale.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Never can't say that.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: You can't.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: I really can't hear it.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Scottsdale, Arizona.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: And he meets this woman named Laura Owens, and they have this encounter, and the details of the encounter are important, and I'm not gonna tell you what they are here, but you have to go listen to the podcast because those details are vital to the rest of the world.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm gonna say they don't have sex.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: They don't.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: They don't have sex.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: They do not have sex.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: So So what happens next is crazy.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: So what happens next is she is pregnant with twins, and he's like, impossible.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Impossible.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: But she's got this belly and she has she takes a pregnancy test in front of him, and and he's coming up with all these ways that how did that actually happen?
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: So he's like, So what did I miss in health ties?
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: I wasn't paying attention and I should have been.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Like the whole myth of sitting on a toilet, and it just spirals from there.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: And it ends up not just being Clayton Eckert.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: It's it's a whole slew of victims that she has tortured with the same story.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: That she's love trapped.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: It's a great name for the podcast.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: She's like love trapping that.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: And so if you if you have listened to it all and you're following the news, she just had she just had her day in court.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And because it is happening right now, it's not a spoiler.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: I guess it's a spoiler if you I don't know.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: She got 30 days in jail.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: In jail, yeah.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: One month.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: And six years probation, right?
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Six years probation, which is the lamest sentence.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: It's unheard of.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: It's unbelievable.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: And it it's something, but it's not nearly enough.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: She was very, did you watch her?
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: She was very, I guess, apologetic.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: She's crying.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: She she wasn't doing the like, I don't even know what the word I mean.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: She wasn't hedging.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: She was like, I am so sorry, I am so embarrassed.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: I know I really hurt these men.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: I know I really messed up their lives.
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: I am so sorry to ever like she was real, I mean, it doesn't work.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: I think she it's nice to be sorry, but like there's only when you do something over and over again, how much can we forgive you?
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:03SPEAKER_01: But she she did apologize.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, a lot of times people don't.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: So no, not now it's not all good.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: Wait, what I can't remember about this podcast, and maybe you don't either, what was her goal?
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: Was she trying to get money from Clayton?
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: No.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: I think she was just trying to get love.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: I think she was just trying to trap him into being in a relationship with her because she had money.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: She like came from a family with money.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: But that's the a whole other layer to the podcast is that they they did here, her dad was like a famous radio host in San Francisco or Stocksdale.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: In Stocksdale.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: And so he had he had a a very lucrative career and he was very well known.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: And his her mom, Jan Black, I think was her name.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Good poll there.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: She, but I I think that they they were they were experiencing some money problems.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: And they were funding her entire life.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: She never worked at all.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: And she would have these business quote unquote ventures, but they were they they didn't go anywhere.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: And so their financial turmoil is another layer in the whole thing.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: And so it's kind of an interesting.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: It's just it, it's all very, it's all very fascinating.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: And I highly recommend listening from the very beginning.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: It was very good.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's really good.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: And I think this week they're gonna do, I saw kind of like just a teaser because I do fall, because I follow the show that like there, she's gonna do a follow-up of like, okay, now here's what happened.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: And after the sunshine, she can't wait to listen to whatever episode.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Whatever they're gonna talk about.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I want to hear.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: So anyway, follow that show, Love Trapped, really good.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: Are you reading anything good this week?
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Well, you tell me first, and then I'll tell you my reading.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, is it a memoir?
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: No, here's just what I wanted to say.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: I haven't gotten into a book in a couple of weeks, but as Bev knows, I've taken a real memoir rabbit hole, and I was thinking about it, and I'm like, how did this happen?
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: So let me tell you.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: It started with Strangers with Bell Burden.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: And before that, I was only reading like thrillers.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: And I was like, wait, this is good.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: Then Lena Dunham's memoir came out, fame sick.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: I'm a huge Lena Dunham fan.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: Then I read Sociopath, which I told you about last week, about a PhD who is a sociopath.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: Then I read Andre Agassiz's memoir called Open.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: And if you didn't know, he had a meth addiction while he was a tennis player.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: It's actually really fascinating.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: That's not all what it was about, but you know, whatever.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: Then I read Matthew Perry's memoir, which I think is coming to Netflix, like they turned it into a show.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: Uh so I'm gonna watch that.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: It's coming, I think it's this week.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, good.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: So I'll talk about Matthew Perry again.
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: Again.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: I can't.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Talk about Matthew Perry.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: Then I read Anthony Keita's part of Anthony Keitas scar tissue.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: And then I read the first couple pages of Slash's memoir, and I'm I'm gonna and I realized I needed to pull myself out.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: No, I love it.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: I think if you're just you're on a roll.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: If you're wondering, Slash's memoir is just called Slash.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: If there's like subtitle, nothing.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, I think I need a reset, and I'm trying to do that, but I went on a real memoir rabbit hole because they can be really fascinating.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: I I don't read many memoirs, and I know that I should.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: I've I read Julie Andrews, I think it's called Home a long time ago, and I think we've talked about this.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: And it's really, really, really good.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: It's, I mean, Julie Andrews is you know, the sound of music is number one for me when it comes to movie, like number one.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: I and I want to read Michelle Obama's, of course.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Right at some point.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Which one is that?
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: What is that called?
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Becoming.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: But I am reading the second book, the second in the holiday series.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: The holiday series that that I'm doing for a sponsor.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: So next week I'll be back into regular books.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: And I think I'm gonna dive into Lost Lake by Sarah Allen Addison, I believe her is her name.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: And I, if you've not read any of her books, she is she's a lovely writer.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: And it's a lot of her plots take uh place in the south.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: There's something dramatic, there's a PTA and there's a farm, there's a peach tree somewhere, you know.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: She's really great.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: I like her books.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna do Lost Lake.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna start that as soon as I'm finished with this.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Have you enjoyed the holidays?
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: I'm really I really am.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: I was I was telling Erin, I was like, these books, they're by design, it's formulaic because at Christmas we want to read the cozy and we want to know it's a happy ending, and there's gotta be a, you know, there's gotta be the twist, there's gotta be some drama.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: It's it's a bit steamy, you know, and I'm not talking about a hot cocoa.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: And she uh the books, like the writer is she's it's well written.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Like the the quips are quick, it's whip smart, it's funny.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Do you read steamy books?
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Like, I didn't even read 50 shades.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: I did read that a long time ago.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: I don't seek things out.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: But if if it's if it's there's happening, you know, it's it's happening.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: You know, yeah, yeah.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: No, I don't seek them out either.
- 21:52SPEAKER_01: Are you watch you don't watch as much as I do?
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Are you watching anything?
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Zero.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Okay Zero.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: I my consumption is strictly.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: What I what and this week has just been it's been, you know, just a busy week with Halloween coming and just things, things going on.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: I've got my social calendar is a bit, a bit hectic in a good way, in a really good way.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: You know, we've my the kids' social calendars are busy, which kind of means mine is, you know.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: And so like all the parents like the moms will want to hang out.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: If the if this group is doing something, then you hang out with this, with that, with those moms.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: And last night So which moms do you not like?
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: No, I'm okay.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna give you a list.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Last night, actually, it's kind of cool.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: You know the podcast I think everybody listens to We Can Do Hard Things, Lennon Doyle and her wife, uh, the soccer player.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: I'm just blanking on her name.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: Abby.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Abby, Adi Walbeck.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Adi Walbeck, that's right.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: So Lennon has a great memoir, by the way.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm sure she does.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Of course, of course.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Have you read it?
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Um, so that there is an episode from October the 13th, and it's called Finally Menopause Relief.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: And uh, and it's that's a really good episode.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: So a group of friends and I, spearheaded by my friend Kate, she had us all listen to the podcast, and then we, because we're all about 50, you know, some are a little younger, and then one one one friend of hers is 68.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: And so she She's like, I can tell you from experience.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: So we we talked all about what everyone's feeling in their bodies and how we're changing and all this.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: And and the the woman who was 68, you know, she's on the other side.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: She's in post-menopause.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: And for her, it was no big deal, but she's on.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: She said the actual transition was not that big of a deal, but she has an estrogen patch.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: She does an estrogen patch that she changes twice a week, and then and cream, maybe testosterone cream that she rubs into her arm.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah once a week.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: I don't even know.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: But that she was like, you just find the balance of hormones.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: And there's a lot of, there's a lot of controversy when it comes to hormone replacement therapy.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: You know, in the past, and and that their podcast goes into all those details.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: There's a there's a specialized doctor that has all the knowledge and can answer the questions and can say, this was a myth, like this, this, this research back then, and they everything leads to cancer.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Things have come out since then that that derails those, those, those myths, you know.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: And it basically what it was saying was like when you go through menopause, you flatline, like your hormones drop to zero, there's nothing left.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: And so it's all about getting the balance of the estrogen, the progesterone, and the testosterone.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: And those balances, and I was like, well, I wish that we could just spit in a cup.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: And then it would like generate like you need 12 points.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: This is I have no idea about this.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: But like 12 points of estrogen and 74 points of testosterone, whatever it is.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: And here's that pill, take it once a year, and you're set.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: I love once a year.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: I love once a year.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: But can't you sort of do that?
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: Like you can go to your gyno, yeah, and they can take blood.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: You can't spit, I don't think.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: Um, it's not one drop of blood either.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: Fair enough.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: And they can say, you need this, you need testosterone.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: We're gonna give you can do that.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: And I think where the controversy lies, because I did ask my doctor about this last year, this past summer when I went to see her.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Actually, just my general, my general practice whenever I went in for the wellness.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: I had yet to have turned 50.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: So I was like, I'm turning 50 next month.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Do we need to do a hormone panel and see where I stand?
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: And she was like, No, absolutely not.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: She goes, How are you feeling?
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I feel fine.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: She goes, Then there's no need.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: And she goes, and you do you still have periods?
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Yes, I do.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Are they regular?
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: For the most part, there's no need.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: You know, and she was like, when you get to the point where you're in nanopause, when you have gone, when you have had 12 months of no periods, at that point, if you start to, and you will on some levels, you will feel wonky do.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: She goes, at that point, we can think about testing for like what's low, what's high, like you know, how to get that balance.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: But but I think that I think that a lot of women, and and again, to each their own, and what if you are feeling weird, but you're still having periods and you want to go down that road, there's nothing wrong with that.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: I just think that that the that doctors are are like, you don't, you don't need to jump there just yet.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: And back to that point of you take blood that one day.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: If you do that, if you do that, that is a snapshot of that hour, that day, that day of the week.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: And tomorrow, if you go get, if you go give blood again, it'll be a completely different result because the hormones, while you're having your periods, shift.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: So they're like, you wait till you're in menopause.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: That's good to know.
- 26:37SPEAKER_01: This is the thing I like about perimenopause is that like I can blame everything on it.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: Like yesterday I was like unnaturally chilled.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: Like I was like in the walking in the sun.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: I was warm in other ways, but I was chilled.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, you know what?
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: It's perimenopause.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: It's peri.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: Not gonna worry about it.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: That's what it is.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: So I like to do that.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: I do want to say I have friends who haven't gone through the change yet, did some specialized testing, and they're getting testosterone pellets, and they they put them in your butt.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Not like in your butt.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: But like a suppository, right?
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: No, I think it's like in the cheek.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: I think it's in the fatty cheek.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: I don't think it's in fatty.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, the US BEV does testosterone suppositories.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Tell me everything.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, so this is a friend.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: I won't name it.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: In the cheek?
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, my friend told me our testosterone was one, and our testosterone is supposed to be a 12 to 14 or something.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: So she was super low.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: So knowing that they gave her like this is how much you need, it's very specialized.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: It costs obviously, it's not your insurance isn't gonna do this for you.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: Wow, yeah.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: So she she was paying out of pocket, and they put a pellet, and I think it's like under the skin, and the meaty part of your butt, but she feels like a million bucks.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: And she loves it and she swears by testosterone.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: The meaty part like your butt.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know what it means to put a pellet in your butt cheek, but I don't think it's a suppository.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: So it's it just dissolves sort of in the the in the the full.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Maybe it's because it's like the fattiest part of your body, which they could do my stomach if they wanted, because that's the fattiest part, not my butt.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: We're starting a band called Dissolving in the Meat.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Called testosterone suppository.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, alter alternative names to this podcast.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: We do have like a funny like list of alternative names for the podcast.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: One was um, let me see.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: Definitely had the word suppository in it.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: One was drenched and clammy.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: Drenched and clammy.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: That was a love letter to perimetopause.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: Uh huh.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: We can cut that was really a serious name that we considered because every other sentence, one of us was like, We can cut that.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: We can cut that.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: And we were like, would be funny to call it that.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: What pants and blazers?
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was a funny name.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: That was a but that somebody had they they someone literally had the names.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: What very similar.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: They had another word added to the end.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: So we were like, nah, yes, we're we'll do this.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: And then another one was obligatory midlife crisis.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: Because that's what we're in right now.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: I do think drenched and clammy would have been a really solid choice.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: Just to remind us, this was me asking Bev what she watched this week.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: And we also, but we also were like, we're gonna do this as a thing about parametables.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's right.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: And so you just covered that.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: Two switch years.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna tell you what I watched.
- 29:16SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: Last I watched a lot.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: I watched a lot of TV unapologetically.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: Like, I think there's like a time where I was like, oh, I don't watch TV.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: But like in the words of Chloe Kardashian, good for you, you don't get an award for watching less TV.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: So anyway, I watched this show on Peacock.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: It's a doc three-part documentary called The Wolves of Real Estate.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: And I didn't really know what I was getting into.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: Little the like thumbnails, these three gorgeous guys, probably in their early 30s.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: And they're brothers.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: They grew up in South Florida, Miami, which says a lot about what the rest that I'm gonna tell you.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: No shade to Miami.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: But these three guys were, they were all really good looking.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: Um sticky.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, very Kendall looking, sort of.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, a bit greased up.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, very like slicked back hair.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: So Google them right now on your phone.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: It's called just the wolf the wolves of real estate or the Alexander Brothers.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: That's who they their names were they were the Alexander Brothers.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: They grew up really wealthy.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: Their parents had a very successful company, and they went into real estate in New York for some reason.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Not for some reason it was lucrative.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: But I think like how they looked was half of their success.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: Like you looked at them and you believed they were successful men who could get you the right things.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Well, that's them in high school.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: Look at that, look, look below.
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they they yes, they look they look the part.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: They look the part of a 100% very wealthy real estate developer.
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: They would have they would go to these parties and just kind of cultivate billionaires and then sell them multi-million dollar property.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: So they were very successful.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: Turns out it was it was actually very horrifying.
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: It was very Cornell seven.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: They were raping women.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: They were roofing.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: This is starts in high school, roofing them, raping them all at once.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: They're three brothers.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: Like, what kind of sick incest thing do you have going on in your brain that you want to be in a sexual situation with your sibling?
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: It's disgusting.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: So they're brothers?
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: All three of them are brothers.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Two of them are twins, the ones that look alike, the ones that look exactly alike.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: And the third one doesn't look like them, but he's their brother.
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: This, I mean, this goes on unscathed for years and years.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: And then I think someone wrote an article about it because it was this known secret in the industry and like among their quote-unquote friend group was like, these are bad dudes.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: Even in high school, they went back to high school and it was like, don't go to these guys' house.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: They started their own real estate brokerage called an official.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: I don't know why I remember that.
- 31:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: And then when when the charges start coming from, they show the footage of them like going to all their houses and arresting them.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: And it was so satisfying.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: I've like never been so satisfying.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: They're charged with rape, trafficking, blah, blah, blah.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: And they say, look, we're good-looking guys.
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: Women want to be around us.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: They do something maybe they regret the next day because they had a little too much to drink.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: I hate them.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: And can you blame us?
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: No.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: Well, well, I mean, yes.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: But I'm just saying, no, we're just sleeping with women, whatever.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Cut to the amount of evidence they had against these guys.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: They literally had a blog.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: I can't remember what it was called, but I'll give you a snippet.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: It's not rape if she's asleep.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: It's not rape if she secretly wants it.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: It's not rape if you're good looking.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: It's not rape if she wears a slutty outfit and is asking for it.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: So then they, and that was just like this fun little writing exercise they did.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: But then there was other blogs that were like, you that let me tell you how we who we are.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know which one of the three wrote this.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: But literally saying we rape women, we drug them and rape them, and we know you guys want to be just like us.
- 32:59SPEAKER_01: And the next morning, they wake up feeling terrible about themselves and wondering what happened.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: And we wake up happy and confident to take on the world.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: What I mean, you're raping someone, but to put it out there like that?
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was crazy.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: And they had also done like a pilot for a real estate show years ago, which is understandable.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: You can see why a production company would think that.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: And the stuff they were saying was like walking right up to the line of saying they did this.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: They were like, I'm with multiple women a night.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: We don't know how someone can think presenting yourself like that.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: Welcome to this is the thing where we talk about uplifting it.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: It is great.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: It's very, it's it was really disturbing, but it was really interesting.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: I hate them.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: I hate them.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: It's part for the course.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: They they look the part.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: It's just, and the the problem is, well, there's so many problems, but like other boys and men are like, yeah, cool.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: Nothing wrong with this.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: They're role models.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: They're setting examples and it's just, it's derailing.
- 34:02SPEAKER_00: It's horrible on all the levels.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: The other thing, I'm like, I want a part two where because they kind of were like, How did this happen?
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: But didn't really, I think they just didn't know.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: But I'm like, they grew up with wealthy parents, awarded every privilege.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: And how do you turn into this?
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: The other interesting part is there's a brother that's like five years older than them who is not attractive.
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: Lucky for him, he probably was always like, Why don't my brothers invite me to hang out with them?
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: And then this happened, he's like, Okay, thank God.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: I want to hear his documentary.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:34SPEAKER_01: Like, tell me what was happening that made you, or I want to, I want to read his memoir, okay?
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: He's like, I'll get his app.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: He probably is writing one.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: It's been depressing, just with the Cornell 7 and and all everything that's just currently happening.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: Everywhere we look, everywhere we look, it's disappointment.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: It's enraging.
- 34:51SPEAKER_00: It's just it's not too much.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, sorry, I didn't do the top line.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: They are in jail for life.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, good.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: I was gonna ask, like, what's the end result here?
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: They were in jail, they're in jail for life.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Of course, they're like, we contacted them, they deny all the things, they're appealing their case.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: But they have so many different things against them, they'll never get out.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: They really won't ever get out.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: And they were saying it's really hard to prove a sex trafficking case, uh, aka diddy a year or whatever, but they proved it with these guys, all the stuff that they wrote on the internet.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, you guys, they're in jail for life.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: So let's just say that's one good thing.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: That's the uplifting.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: That that I felt good about that.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: Are you listening to anything this week?
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: I am, and it's this is also another downer.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: Okay, great.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: I'm listening to this uh podcast called Cruel Summer, not to be confused with Taylor Swift's massive hit from Lover.
- 35:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: Um Cruel Summer, the violent death of Tiffany Valiante.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: It's a very tragic thing.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: It's this, it's this girl who had graduated high school.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: She was starting college, and she was a volleyball player, 6'2.
- 35:54SPEAKER_00: You know, she had a volleyball scholarship, she was about to move away, and in a party in July with her nieces and nephews and some friends, uh, she goes to this party and then she disappears from the party.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: And the the theory is that she walked four miles along into uh away from this whole thing and away from this whole thing meaning that party in the town.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: And uh she walked four miles to a railroad track and jumped in front of a train.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 36:27SPEAKER_00: And but she she wasn't and oh, and the the the the the big thing here is that the the death certificate, it was immediate, it was an afternoon, and the sheriffs and the police department were like, oh, it's suicide, death by suicide.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: And and they just like on to the next.
- 36:44SPEAKER_00: And everyone's like, uh well, the family, I should say, not her friends.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: Her friends went silent.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: Every, every single friend of hers went completely silent.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: And they wouldn't talk to anyone, they wouldn't, they wouldn't, they were like, nope, I'm out, I'm not, I don't want anything to do with this.
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: But the family's like, suicide.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: This makes no sense.
- 37:01SPEAKER_00: She had a scholarship, she was pumped about what she was wearing to this party, and she'd, you know, like put this whole vibe together with her best friend, and and then she walks away from a party.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: And then jumps in the room.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: And it's not suicidal.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: So this is where it gets interesting is that there's the the police just botched they didn't do DNA tests, they didn't do a rape kit, they didn't do anything.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: They found they they found her body and they were like, uh, suicide, like I said, moving on.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: But everyone was like, this doesn't make any sense at all.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: But the train couldn't, and this is the thing, is like, okay, well, have you talked to the conductor of the train?
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: What did he see?
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: And he saw someone standing and turning like like by the tracks, and then a woman stands up and dives toward the train.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: And he's like, I saw that though.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: But everything else, when they brought the case back, like the way it none of it makes any sense.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: And they're like, but no.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: But like, how do you take his, how do you how do you go against that and say, Well, but he saw her jump towards me.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: So I'm about five chapters in.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: I think there's a couple more, but I don't know.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: It's very, very fascinating to me.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: It's so What was the name of Gate of Cruel Summer, The Violent Death of Tiffany Valiante.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: And yeah, I'm on chapter five.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: I think there's two more.
- 38:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is the thing that I saw in pop culture this week.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you saw Christina Applegate.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: Misdiagnosed! Was misdiagnosed.
- 38:31SPEAKER_01: Maybe five years ago she came out and said she had MS.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: She looked markedly different than she has, as you probably remember her, walking with a cane.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: Really, really seemed like she was affected.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: And she came out on a podcast she has with Meadow Soprano, Jamie Lynn Sigler.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: That's her name.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: I don't know her.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: Did you watch The Sopranos?
- 38:49SPEAKER_01: You didn't.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: No.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, we're gonna have to watch more TV.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: I watched Fillmore Girls.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, The Sopranos is really good.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: She plays the daughter on The Sopranos.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: I think she has relapsing MS, but they have a podcast together where they talk about all the things to do with MS.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: But Christine Applegate came out and said she was misdiagnosed, which while her doctor was looking at her like she was gonna cry tears of relief, she was crying because she was like, that doesn't change how I feel.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: And now I feel like I'm back at square one and I don't know what's wrong with me, which is it can be the worst part about having a health issue is not having a name for it.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: That was my next question.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: So they say, you don't have MS, but we don't know what it is, right?
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: So she's back at square.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: She says she's back at square one, which is very sad for her.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: And didn't something similar happen with Selma Blair?
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: Well, not something similar, but she has health issues too.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: And didn't she hit somebody on a plane?
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: So Selma Blair has MS, and they've talked about it.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: She hasn't messed.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: They could always have said them in the same breath over the last few years.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: And Selma also walks with a cane.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: She also seems very affected by it.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:53SPEAKER_01: And recently she was on a plane.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: She was arrested actually after an October 11th confrontation with flight attendants on a Delta Airlines flight.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: She was arrested and accused of attacking a flight attendant, a port authority officer.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: I think after they got off the plane, they had port authority officers there, and she attacked the officer.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: And a hospital nurse, um, she was kicking and biting them, and they arrested her on assault.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: The two of the flight attendants reported injuries, and one was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: The FBI is looking into the incident.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: Isn't it because she was?
- 40:27SPEAKER_00: I think I read something about her being under medicated or didn't have the proper medication.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: And so it was a result of that.
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: The actress's lawyers said it was because she didn't take the medications prescribed to her to treat her multiple sclerosis.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: And also claimed, they were like, if that's not enough, she had also had recently fallen and hit her head.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: I don't know what's real and what's not.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: What's interesting is years ago, 2016, she also accidentally mixed medication with alcohol.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: I don't think she was diagnosed in 2016 on another flight and assaulted a flight attendant.
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: Wait, so she has assaulted two?
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: This has happened before.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 41:03SPEAKER_01: So this has happened before.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: And she also wrote a memoir, funny enough, where she's talking about how she likes to bite people.
- 41:09SPEAKER_01: What?
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: And she was saying it obviously in a cheeky, no pun intended way.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: Where she was like, Oh, I bit, I can't remember the actress that she said.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say Heidi Clum.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: That's probably wrong.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: I bit Heidi Clum at this party once, and she just looked at me like, what?
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: And then I bit her again.
- 41:23SPEAKER_01: Why is that a thing you do?
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe are she in Mike Tyson right?
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: Back to the Mike Tyson documentary, which is amazing.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: I think if all those things weren't true, I would be inclined to be like, this is a medical situation.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: Let's all ease up on her.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: Not that I want to go hard on Selma Blair.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: No.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: But it just it seemed paints a different picture when you put everything in context.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: I agree.
- 41:45SPEAKER_00: Selma, what's going on?
- 41:46SPEAKER_00: Selma, quit biting people.
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: It's kind of like when we realized that Winona writer was a shoplifter 20 years ago, or how long ago?
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: That was great.
- 41:54SPEAKER_00: That was great.
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: It was so, but it was super disappointing, but then like the world forgot.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'd love that for her though.
- 42:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: And then with Drew Barrymore, too.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: I remember there was a dip during the strike, there was a writer strike, but she had her crew with her or something.
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: And, you know, she there was a lot of backlash.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: And then like five seconds later, everyone's like, you know, like, okay, well, all right.
- 42:17SPEAKER_00: Myself included.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like, I don't, I didn't really have an opinion about.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't want people to shoplift, of course.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: But but back then I was just like, oh, okay.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: It's more interesting that that is an actual disorder, if you want to, that a lot of women have, I guess.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: Like what?
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: Shoplifting?
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: Obviously, when Ona Writer didn't need to shoplift, I think it was lipstick from Wordstrom or something.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: Obviously, that did not need to happen, but she is like looking for the rush of taking it and getting away with it.
- 42:45SPEAKER_01: And it's sort of like a cutting or I don't know, any kind of thing.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: It's a dopamine sort of thing.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: She had a dopamine deficiency.
- 42:53SPEAKER_01: She's fine.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: Let's leave her alone.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: Let's leave her alone.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: And now she's famous again, which is which is good.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: So this is the thing that randomly happened this week.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: What's going on there?
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: This is so gross.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: But so I last week I had a head cold, and the last thing that, and I had completely lost my voice, completely gone.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: But voice is back.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: I'm back on, but my but my right nostril, when I blow my nose, okay.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Imagine, I want you to imagine.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: I am right now.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Like a Spanish matador in the middle of the big stadium.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Is that the word stadium?
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: Arena?
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: Oh, the Coliseum?
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: That is what I'm thinking.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: That's the word.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: And there's a bull running out of one of the little doors.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: And the Spanish matador has its little red cape and it's going flap, flap, flap.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: It's like enticing the bull to come.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: And the matador is living in your nose.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: The little red cape thingy feels like there's a flap in my right nostril, and I can't blow my nose correctly.
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: What I want is for you to go to a doctor, explain exactly like this.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Exactly like you did to us and film his reaction.
- 44:04SPEAKER_00: I'm sure he would be like, um, psychiatrist.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: Do you think it's perimenivos?
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: It could be peri.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: But I don't know.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: And I feel like yesterday was worse.
- 44:10SPEAKER_00: Listeners, what is that feeling?
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: And I don't, I mean if it's happened to you and you know what it is and you know that it's not a Spanish batador.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: Not a Spanish batador with cape and a bowl.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Let me know what it is in the comments.
- 44:21SPEAKER_01: We like to end our episodes, starting now and today, since this is technically our first, with a provocative question, using the word loosely.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Also, I just want to say thank you for being here with us.
- 44:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: I hope you form like a really deep and almost psychologically unhealthy parasocial relationship with our podcast.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: In it.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: Because I have those with lots of podcasters.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: I'm like obsessed with them.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: So, okay, the question I want to ask you.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: Wait, I want to ask you two questions.
- 44:48SPEAKER_01: You're asking me.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm asking you to do it.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, cool.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: You can ask me next week.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Would you trade your smartphone for a dumb phone?
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Because you know, there's like all this stuff recently with people turning back the technology, even though AI is gonna kill us.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: So what's the point, really?
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Would you take your phone and just have like a flip phone where you can only call, maybe in text, we'll say text, but you don't have all the you don't have an app for my pure bar class on your phone?
- 45:12SPEAKER_00: No, hell no.
- 45:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: I love the smartphone.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, the camera, the Instagram, the way you can document.
- 45:20SPEAKER_00: I want to reverse the feeling of life and make it feel nostalgic and cozy and not super fast.
- 45:28SPEAKER_00: But I want to document that.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: So I need my smartphone to capture the irony of that is hilarious.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: That's exactly what I'm saying.
- 45:36SPEAKER_00: It's so ironic, but it but I want the smartphone to capture and I also just the texting.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: I guess you could text on a dumb phone too, but no, absolutely not.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: I like I'm obsessed with the weather app.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: I'm obsessed with I with everything.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Instagram.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: I like the immediacy of and having a pulse just on everything around.
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: But but balancing that, like pulling back and then putting it away when I'm reading.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: But I also like to listen to podcasts when I'm cleaning.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: So I like to have everything just right there and I wear a fanny pack.
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: I wear a blue fanny pack every day, all day long, with my phone right in it.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like I like to have it just all right there.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: I might adopt a fanny pack.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: I have one.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: That's a good use.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 46:15SPEAKER_01: My real question that I derailed for was do you have a secret beauty hack?
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: What's your secret beauty weapon?
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: So I wouldn't say that it's a secret, I don't I wouldn't say it's beauty, but one thing that I've used my entire life and I have realized how glorious it is is Pons cold cream.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: Oh love it.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: Um talk about nostalgia.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: And this is the thing.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: Uh it was, I ran out of my pawns maybe two months ago, and the grocery store didn't have it.
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, Target didn't have it.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: I because you're the only person in the country.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: Right, exactly.
- 46:49SPEAKER_00: So I had to order it on Amazon.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: And but I realized it is the only thing that really gets my eye makeup off the way I want it.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: And it's soft and it doesn't sting.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: And I mean, it I I've used it since junior high.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: Since junior high.
- 47:01SPEAKER_00: When I first started wearing makeup, my mom was like, Pond's cool cream.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: And I was like, done, done for life.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: So that's Done for life.
- 47:07SPEAKER_00: Done for life.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: And so I, yeah, going back to Pond, I had used something else and I was like, this is crap.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: And going back to Ponds, I was like, I'll never leave you again.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: I remember in middle school, my friend and I noxema in our face and waiting for the tingle for like 30 seconds, which I think was just a marketing gimmick.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: Good one by them.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: And then we'd wipe it off.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: And then you'd kind of feel like, well, if I switched, I didn't get the noxema tingle.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: I kind of want to buy some again.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: You should definitely do that.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: But you have to do it like the way in the in the commercials, like splash.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: The splash.
- 47:38SPEAKER_00: It's all about the splash and the young, youthful girl looking up in the in the mirror, and it's all she's like.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: And then you do that and you get your pajamas completely soaked because I've done that.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, this isn't how it looked in the in the commercial.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I look psycho if I'm splashing more.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Episode one.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: Episode one and the books you guys.
- 47:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, like I said, if you look in the link, you're gonna find out three.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: Three other ones.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: Bonus, bonus.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: We already have a we're already giving you bonus tracks.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: This is insane.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: Um, one more thing I want to say before we wrap up is I found someone to go see.
- 48:08SPEAKER_01: You can see everything, the Elizabeth Holmes documentary with me on Thursday.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Okay, excellent.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: Well, that is all for this week.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: Don't forget to like, follow, and share the show because this is how we feed our kids and our dog.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: Bye.
