- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome into jags Am Today, presented by Carshield. It's Victory
- 0:18Speaker 1: Monday and Ka Nannie Stevens, Brian Sexton and John Osier
- 0:21Speaker 1: are with me today as we recap a win that
- 0:23Speaker 1: the Jaguars desperately needed as they took down the Titan
- 0:26Speaker 1: yesterday thirty four to fourteen. It's over our big things today.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Big thing one is willpower. This team has been desperately
- 0:33Speaker 1: looking for a big day on offense and they got
- 0:35Speaker 1: that Yesterday. Wasn't always flashy, but they had flash points.
- 0:38Speaker 1: They were methodical, they calculated and Doug really had a
- 0:42Speaker 1: lot of confidence in his offense yesterday.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I thought Trevor played played extremely well obviously, you know,
- 0:48Speaker 2: bounced back from last week and put together a good
- 0:51Speaker 2: performance rand the ball, you know, two rushing touchdo I
- 0:55Speaker 2: think two rushing touchdowns right today, did a great job.
- 0:59Speaker 2: You know, saw the field of extremely well. I thought
- 1:01Speaker 2: offensive line you know, protected him well, and it was
- 1:05Speaker 2: good to get Zay back as well. But overall, Trevor,
- 1:07Speaker 2: Trevor played really well today.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Brian, We've been waiting for a day like this to
- 1:12Speaker 1: come back and kind of see a big performance from
- 1:15Speaker 1: the offense.
- 1:15Speaker 3: What did you see out of Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:16Speaker 4: You know, look on that drive in particular, when the
- 1:20Speaker 4: Jaguars faced fourth down, you could see the look in
- 1:23Speaker 4: Doug Peterson's eye on the sideline. He just just stay
- 1:25Speaker 4: we're going, We're not gonna We're not gonna stop and
- 1:28Speaker 4: start like they did there at the end of the
- 1:29Speaker 4: first half and settle for field goals in the red zone.
- 1:32Speaker 4: And then they hit the fourth down play for thirty
- 1:34Speaker 4: four yards. And then on first and goal from the
- 1:36Speaker 4: sixth Trevor Lawrence trying to get to the outside on
- 1:38Speaker 4: a quick run slips and you can see the disgust
- 1:41Speaker 4: in his eyes, and so the very next play, pocket collapsing,
- 1:44Speaker 4: pressure coming, he got to the outside and raced to
- 1:46Speaker 4: the pylon to beat Jeffrey Simmons for the touchdown. It
- 1:50Speaker 4: just felt like that series and those two plays in particular,
- 1:54Speaker 4: were Doug and Trevor willing this offense to find some
- 1:56Speaker 4: rhythm and the rest of the way they have it.
- 1:59Speaker 5: Yeah, of the many reasons why Doug's coaching this team,
- 2:03Speaker 5: and I'm not that play fourth and four they had
- 2:08Speaker 5: a thirteen point lead. I'm in the press box saying,
- 2:10Speaker 5: Doug just don't give them an opportunity. Well, it kickstarted
- 2:15Speaker 5: the offense, and Doug clearly believes going forward in those situations.
- 2:20Speaker 5: There's some fans who get really angry at him for
- 2:22Speaker 5: doing it, going for it in those situations.
- 2:24Speaker 6: He talked afterward of.
- 2:25Speaker 5: The confidence that he gives the team, of the momentum
- 2:27Speaker 5: gives the team.
- 2:28Speaker 6: He believes that.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Overall, making it helps you far more over the course
- 2:33Speaker 5: of a season than the times where you don't make it.
- 2:37Speaker 6: He's aggressive, it's his nature.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Our big thing Number two today is going to be
- 2:41Speaker 1: plus two. We've talked about the turnover issues for this
- 2:43Speaker 1: team the last couple of weeks. That certainly hurt them
- 2:46Speaker 1: against the forty nine ers, but they were pretty good
- 2:48Speaker 1: yesterday and they were able to force some turnovers as well,
- 2:51Speaker 1: which we know is a huge part of their defense,
- 2:53Speaker 1: but also being smart with the football and offense.
- 2:57Speaker 2: That was just something I felt at that time just
- 2:59Speaker 2: to kind of keep we were moving the ball. Felt
- 3:02Speaker 2: good about it again. You know, it's when when I
- 3:06Speaker 2: show confidence in the team and they respawn like that,
- 3:09Speaker 2: it just it just breeds confidence in them.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So I've got a ton of confidence in the offense
- 3:14Speaker 1: to go for things on fourth down or in certain
- 3:16Speaker 1: positions in the game. But also they were smart with
- 3:18Speaker 1: the football, John, And that's something we've been harping on
- 3:20Speaker 1: for weeks, that they needed to not turn the ball over.
- 3:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 5: I got an email from somebody saying, hey, you know,
- 3:26Speaker 5: analyzing this game and saying that the team that wins,
- 3:29Speaker 5: the team that wins the turnover battle is going to
- 3:30Speaker 5: win the game.
- 3:31Speaker 6: In that like saying the team with the most points
- 3:33Speaker 6: is going to win the game.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Well, ha ha, But on this team, in this season,
- 3:40Speaker 5: the turnover thing has been the thing. And if you
- 3:45Speaker 5: think about it, Brian, in that game yesterday, the Titans
- 3:49Speaker 5: have momentum and they have two big plays. All of
- 3:51Speaker 5: a sudden, they fumbled the ball. They was down on
- 3:53Speaker 5: score the second turnover. The game was probably out of
- 3:58Speaker 5: reach anyway. But that first turn and the fact that
- 4:01Speaker 5: the Jaguars I thought they took a page in the
- 4:03Speaker 5: first half, Brian, Every possession.
- 4:08Speaker 6: That ends in a kick is a good possession. Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 6: they got.
- 4:10Speaker 5: To the red zone, they got a touchdown early, and
- 4:12Speaker 5: they wanted to score touchdowns, but they wanted to get points.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I thought they played that smart. Don't make mistakes. It's
- 4:20Speaker 5: what's killed you so far this season.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Well, it wasn't just the fumble that they recovered, right,
- 4:25Speaker 4: it was the two dropped interceptions that they had jumping
- 4:28Speaker 4: routes on Will Levis. They were very aggressive, they just
- 4:32Speaker 4: didn't pull those in good right, I mean, you know,
- 4:34Speaker 4: get after the ball. I look, this morning, the Jaguars
- 4:37Speaker 4: were tied for the league lead with twenty takeaways, back
- 4:40Speaker 4: on top where they belonged. More importantly, that seventeen number,
- 4:43Speaker 4: seventeen giveaways, which is tied for the fourth most in
- 4:46Speaker 4: the NFL. Right now, that number is still seventeen. That's
- 4:49Speaker 4: the really important part. This team has to protect the football.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Every team does, but ray Sean Jenkins told us last
- 4:55Speaker 4: week kai that the heartbeat of this defense is that
- 4:58Speaker 4: ball hawking aggressive to take the ball away, give it
- 5:01Speaker 4: back to Trevor and good field position and end other
- 5:04Speaker 4: teams momentum like John alluded to on that Titans drive.
- 5:08Speaker 4: And they got it done yesterday. And they got it
- 5:10Speaker 4: done once. They should have gotten done twice. And of
- 5:12Speaker 4: course we got to give Ross Madison credit. What a
- 5:15Speaker 4: great play for the long snapper. And if you go
- 5:16Speaker 4: back and watch it, he has to go way out
- 5:19Speaker 4: to the left and come all the way back to
- 5:20Speaker 4: the right side of the field and then just as
- 5:23Speaker 4: he's going to the ground, he rips it out. Most
- 5:25Speaker 4: guys would just be happy pulling the guy to the
- 5:26Speaker 4: ground and then he immediately is up there to recover it. Hey,
- 5:30Speaker 4: we don't talk about the long snapper on this show
- 5:32Speaker 4: very much. They'll talk about long snappers on many shows.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Congratulations to Ross Madison as a hell of a play.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Absolutely the best guy.
- 5:38Speaker 1: He deserves it as well, and you know he loved that,
- 5:40Speaker 1: loved his celebration as well. I think he couldn't have
- 5:43Speaker 1: been waiting to spike that football for quite some time.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So happy for Ross. Our final big thing today is
- 5:47Speaker 1: going to be bigger in Texas. Daigars definitely needed that
- 5:50Speaker 1: win yesterday to get back on track. It was a
- 5:52Speaker 1: big division win. But next week is going to be
- 5:55Speaker 1: even bigger of a matchup as they go in to
- 5:57Speaker 1: Houston take on team that already beat them, blew them
- 5:59Speaker 1: out in the years.
- 6:00Speaker 3: They're gonna look to get a win against them on
- 6:02Speaker 3: the road.
- 6:04Speaker 6: We needed this one.
- 6:05Speaker 7: And we needed a win like this.
- 6:06Speaker 8: But that's the when when I said last week, man,
- 6:10Speaker 8: when everybody do their job, man, and they.
- 6:13Speaker 6: Just want to go out there and perform.
- 6:15Speaker 8: We could beat into two in the nest Pole League,
- 6:17Speaker 8: and that's the confidence that we have within ourselves. First, Homo,
- 6:20Speaker 8: So you know next week is is an even bigger
- 6:23Speaker 8: game than this week. So that's a great team. And
- 6:25Speaker 8: I know in the past that you know Tennessee, I mean,
- 6:28Speaker 8: Texans and Jaguars don't really mix. But we're gonna have
- 6:31Speaker 8: to go there there our handle business and we got
- 6:32Speaker 8: a great team over there, and we're excited to play them.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I think Josh Allen says, the Texans and the Jaguars
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't mix. How are they gonna get things done next week?
- 6:40Speaker 4: Well, they don't mix because the Texans have owned the
- 6:43Speaker 4: series since they came to the league in two thousand
- 6:45Speaker 4: and two. Here's the number that matters for you. Ready,
- 6:48Speaker 4: we talked about takeaways. The Jaguars have twenty. They got
- 6:51Speaker 4: one two yesterday, defense got one, Special teams got one
- 6:54Speaker 4: all of a sudden. CJ. Stroud even though they're winning,
- 6:57Speaker 4: even though he's clearly the offensive rookie of the year
- 7:00Speaker 4: and maybe an MVP can it depending on where the
- 7:02Speaker 4: end their season. He's turned the ball over six times
- 7:05Speaker 4: in the last two weeks. He's starting to do some
- 7:07Speaker 4: things that rookies do. He's got four interceptions and he's
- 7:09Speaker 4: lost two fumbles. He is a good football player with
- 7:13Speaker 4: the ability. I think John to be a great quarterback
- 7:16Speaker 4: in this league. But he's still only played ten games.
- 7:18Speaker 4: The Jaguars appear to be back on target. You got
- 7:21Speaker 4: to go take the ball away from him, and he's
- 7:22Speaker 4: been willing to give it up the last couple of weeks.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Yeah, he's really good. He's gonna get better.
- 7:28Speaker 5: There's been a little bit of a talk among Jaguars
- 7:31Speaker 5: fans the last three weeks that this guy's Brady Manning
- 7:34Speaker 5: and Rodgers put together.
- 7:35Speaker 6: He's not that yet. So I agree with you.
- 7:38Speaker 5: They are gonna be opportunities for the Jags. I think
- 7:40Speaker 5: with the Jags will hit on more this week in preparation. Yes,
- 7:44Speaker 5: it was a twenty point game that last game, but
- 7:48Speaker 5: it doesn't feel like the Texans are any way twenty
- 7:52Speaker 5: points better. Jagos gave up two long touchdowns essentially touchdowns
- 7:57Speaker 5: on bad miscommunications in the secondary and a weird kickoff return. Uh,
- 8:01Speaker 5: these teams are even I mean Jagsuars are gonna be favored. Uh,
- 8:05Speaker 5: the Jaguars need to play like they're even and not
- 8:07Speaker 5: think that the Texans are a better team.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Than they are.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Certainly be a big game.
- 8:10Speaker 1: We're gonna get into that later in the week, but
- 8:12Speaker 1: stay with us here on JAGSA. I'm coming up after
- 8:14Speaker 1: the break. We're gonna go over the highlights from yesterday's
- 8:16Speaker 1: win over the Titans.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Move the freight, Move the freight.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Magellan Transport voted the coolest office space in Jacksonville. You
- 8:32Speaker 1: can apply online at www dot Magellanlogistics dot com.
- 8:38Speaker 2: You know we are explosive offense, explosive players, and we
- 8:41Speaker 2: know that we have a lot of you know, players
- 8:43Speaker 2: that can make plays.
- 8:44Speaker 6: And like I said, we just got to be in
- 8:46Speaker 6: those moments and own the moment. And when when when,
- 8:49Speaker 6: no matter who we plan against, you just.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Gotta do that.
- 8:53Speaker 1: When when when we finally saw some action the offense right,
- 8:57Speaker 1: a little bit of everything. Calvin Ridley got involved, which
- 8:59Speaker 1: we've all been dying to see what he's capable of.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And I felt like the offense we were hoping to see
- 9:04Speaker 1: in the preseason, we knew they could be, they just
- 9:07Speaker 1: hadn't quite gotten there yet.
- 9:08Speaker 4: We're not going to show one of these plays or
- 9:10Speaker 4: either release plays probably on highlights. So let me just
- 9:13Speaker 4: tell you the two that I thought best exemplified the
- 9:15Speaker 4: offense yesterday. Third quarter, the second drive or the second
- 9:18Speaker 4: touchdown drive for Ridley. Right, you have an eleven yard
- 9:21Speaker 4: run by Travis Etn and on the very next play
- 9:26Speaker 4: you can see the safeties creeping up towards the line
- 9:28Speaker 4: of scrimmage. Next play twenty six yards on the Titan
- 9:31Speaker 4: side line to Calvin Ridley. That's what this offense is used,
- 9:34Speaker 4: the run to set up the deep shots. And of
- 9:36Speaker 4: course I think the Jaguars average nine nine point three
- 9:38Speaker 4: yards per attempt yesterday, which is a significant increase from
- 9:42Speaker 4: where they had been. The running game and play action
- 9:45Speaker 4: sets up everything for this team and gives them the
- 9:48Speaker 4: opportunity to be that downfield offense that I think we
- 9:51Speaker 4: all have been waiting for.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought I talked about the defense at the
- 9:54Speaker 5: top of the show is I thought the defense.
- 9:58Speaker 6: Shouting the Titans.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Out while the jag Wars sort of got things going
- 10:03Speaker 5: in the first half was really big because had the
- 10:06Speaker 5: defense given a couple of touchdowns then all of a
- 10:09Speaker 5: sudden at halftime, at the offenses, you know, not getting
- 10:16Speaker 5: three touchdowns in the red zone would have really felt
- 10:18Speaker 5: like you're tight. I thought that enabled the Jaguars to
- 10:21Speaker 5: come out and play loose in the second half and
- 10:23Speaker 5: free and sort of get I guess where they wanted
- 10:26Speaker 5: to go.
- 10:28Speaker 6: I think the story of the game was the offensive line.
- 10:30Speaker 5: After a disastrous performance against San Francisco, for them to
- 10:34Speaker 5: come out and play well against a defensive front. I'm
- 10:40Speaker 5: not gonna say it's a good to San Francisco, but
- 10:42Speaker 5: if San Francisco is here, that doesn't mean Tennessee's here.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Well pretty good. He's one of the best three or
- 10:49Speaker 4: four defensive linemen.
- 10:50Speaker 5: In the game, and he showed it in a few spots,
- 10:53Speaker 5: but he didn't dominate the game. And I thought the
- 10:55Speaker 5: jag Wars offensive line, let's be honest, because Trevor could move,
- 11:01Speaker 5: it helped everything, and it looked.
- 11:03Speaker 6: A lot more like the offense we thought it would.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And you could see the comfort, how much comfort that
- 11:07Speaker 1: Trevor kind of had in the pocket. We didn't see
- 11:09Speaker 1: a lot of that last week, and he looked a
- 11:10Speaker 1: lot more comfortable this week, or at least trusting of
- 11:13Speaker 1: the linemen around him. Let's go over some of these highlights,
- 11:16Speaker 1: because early on we had talked pregame a little bit
- 11:18Speaker 1: about it, Brian. This defense needs to get back to
- 11:21Speaker 1: what they do, which is forcing turnovers and getting the
- 11:23Speaker 1: ball back right, that's their identity, stopping the run in
- 11:26Speaker 1: forcing turnovers, and they did that early on, getting this
- 11:29Speaker 1: extra possession for the offense because that's what they needed.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Well, what I love here is and you can see
- 11:34Speaker 4: it from this angle watch how as soon as Duan
- 11:36Speaker 4: Smooth sees that the ball is out, he grabs Will
- 11:39Speaker 4: Levis and wrenches his arm away so he can't reach
- 11:41Speaker 4: out and pull it back in. Let me talked about
- 11:44Speaker 4: just being aware, savvy, savvy play.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And then the offense it was just it wasn't Flasher
- 11:49Speaker 1: out of the gun, but it was just nice to see,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know, finding Kirk open Ingram getting involved Calvin.
- 11:55Speaker 3: It was a little bit of everybody.
- 11:57Speaker 4: Great footwork there getting the in and then of course
- 12:00Speaker 4: that's what Calvin does.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Excellent flilwork there. Yes, just get his feet in on
- 12:04Speaker 1: the engine. I mean, we've been dying to see Calvin
- 12:06Speaker 1: get a catch.
- 12:07Speaker 3: John.
- 12:08Speaker 1: How much in Zay open up some space for Calvin
- 12:10Speaker 1: to that yesterday?
- 12:11Speaker 6: Well, I think a lot.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I mean, it's uh, I asked Christian Kirk that afterward
- 12:14Speaker 5: and he said, look, they trust Zay. This is a
- 12:20Speaker 5: group that believes you know, of course you believe it.
- 12:24Speaker 5: When they have their five skill guys, meaning Ingram Ridley, Kirk,
- 12:28Speaker 5: Jones and etn around Trevor, that's their guys. That's the
- 12:32Speaker 5: bunch that they feel like is gonna be great with
- 12:34Speaker 5: the receivers. They do depend on each other. I don't
- 12:38Speaker 5: want to find this out, but I get the feeling
- 12:41Speaker 5: that they sort of depend on Zay Jones, maybe as
- 12:45Speaker 5: much or more as they depend on the other guys,
- 12:46Speaker 5: even though the other guy's may be bigger names. Uh,
- 12:50Speaker 5: Zay's a really good leader. He's really smart. He keeps
- 12:53Speaker 5: things going on the sidelines. He's the leader of that room.
- 12:56Speaker 5: And I think him being back drew coverage. But it
- 12:59Speaker 5: also helps Hi the way I just talked about.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Well, he's just so much more of a threat than
- 13:04Speaker 4: Tim Jones, is right, or Elijah Cooks And when they
- 13:07Speaker 4: had to fill in defense didn't play it the same way.
- 13:10Speaker 4: When you see Za Jones and you know his body
- 13:12Speaker 4: of work and the plays that he makes, and the
- 13:13Speaker 4: Titans have because he's beaten him a couple of times, already.
- 13:16Speaker 4: You can't just let him run free. And that you
- 13:18Speaker 4: talked about spacing J Jones does a lot for the
- 13:21Speaker 4: spacing of that offense.
- 13:23Speaker 1: They're just a totally different offense when they have all
- 13:25Speaker 1: the pieces in place, it seems. And also Doug Peterson,
- 13:28Speaker 1: the way he coached them yesterday is the way.
- 13:30Speaker 3: He always coaches them. He likes to go for on
- 13:32Speaker 3: fourth down.
- 13:32Speaker 1: He likes to take that risk, but calculated risk, and
- 13:35Speaker 1: he showed tons of confidence in this team and didn't
- 13:38Speaker 1: kind of baby them in it. He's like, no, we
- 13:39Speaker 1: can do this and going for it. And just in
- 13:42Speaker 1: choice moments, it was good to see I.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Love that throw too, him getting out there, and he
- 13:47Speaker 4: could have thrown the ball down the field further, taken
- 13:50Speaker 4: a bigger bite of the apple and gone for Calvin
- 13:54Speaker 4: Ridley who was down the sideline there. But that wasn't
- 13:56Speaker 4: as good or a high percentage throw as the one
- 13:59Speaker 4: to the earnest who ended up getting the kind of
- 14:01Speaker 4: yardage something. It was a great decision by Trevor Well.
- 14:04Speaker 5: It's such a game of moments this league. It still
- 14:08Speaker 5: felt like it was on the edge this game until
- 14:12Speaker 5: this play, and then you knew they were gonna win.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Yeah, and.
- 14:16Speaker 6: I think the offensive line played well.
- 14:18Speaker 5: But this is another play where if you have immobile Trevor,
- 14:22Speaker 5: this play.
- 14:23Speaker 6: Might end right here. Yep.
- 14:24Speaker 5: Instead it ends over here and you get thirty five yards.
- 14:27Speaker 6: Out of it.
- 14:30Speaker 5: It's not a coincidence that he comes out as his
- 14:32Speaker 5: best game a couple of runs.
- 14:35Speaker 6: He needs that mobility play.
- 14:36Speaker 5: I'm not saying he can't win from the pocket, but
- 14:38Speaker 5: right now he needs that as a supplement to his game.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Let's go to Trevor's first rushing touchdown of the day,
- 14:44Speaker 1: first of two, which was great to see. And this
- 14:47Speaker 1: is something we've seen on and off from him. I
- 14:50Speaker 1: know Doug had talked earlier about if he's a little
- 14:52Speaker 1: bit limited. Didn't look limited there.
- 14:54Speaker 4: This is the touchdown I was talking about him that
- 14:55Speaker 4: will power off at the top of the deep things.
- 14:57Speaker 4: You know, he gets out there and he sees Jeffrey Simmons,
- 15:00Speaker 4: There's probably gonna be a collision at some point, and
- 15:03Speaker 4: he just gave it all up. That to me, that's
- 15:06Speaker 4: where I knew that Trevor Lawrence was ready to go
- 15:09Speaker 4: and back the guy that we had been waiting to
- 15:11Speaker 4: see because that play was all him.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't want to take that away from him.
- 15:16Speaker 5: You know, he scared me a little bit when he
- 15:19Speaker 5: reached that ball out of the pylon because those things
- 15:21Speaker 5: can end up being touched back.
- 15:23Speaker 6: Yeah, but at that moment, good for Trepp.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Look at the way that he shuffles, right, I mean
- 15:30Speaker 4: he's back pedaling and shuffling his feet and still looking
- 15:33Speaker 4: down the field before he decides to run. And he
- 15:35Speaker 4: talked in the post game yesterday about seeing you know,
- 15:38Speaker 4: the men, the man coverage flowing with the receivers back
- 15:41Speaker 4: to the other side, and then realizing I can go.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I just will power was the word yesterday. That was
- 15:48Speaker 4: the same drive that Doug called ford and fourth down
- 15:50Speaker 4: and he made the play and then he made the
- 15:51Speaker 4: play there. I'm excited to see him play this next Sunday,
- 15:54Speaker 4: see if he can keep this momentum going.
- 15:55Speaker 6: And right now he needs this in his game.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Yes, I think he'll develop more as a pocket passer
- 16:02Speaker 5: who can win just staying in the pocket, which is
- 16:04Speaker 5: a kind of football I love. But I think right
- 16:07Speaker 5: now he needs to feel that aggression, like he's dictating
- 16:11Speaker 5: things or he certainly seems to play better when he
- 16:14Speaker 5: has that.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Element divin play. Always looks good when you get the
- 16:17Speaker 1: touchdown right, so that always helps. And I'm sure running
- 16:20Speaker 1: from Jeffrey Simmons was enough motivation for him as well.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Let's look at that second passing touchdown for Trevor yesterday
- 16:25Speaker 1: to Calvin, because obviously we've seen Calvin get one touchdown before,
- 16:29Speaker 1: but two touchdown game over one hundred receiving yards. That
- 16:31Speaker 1: was a huge day for him. And just to see
- 16:34Speaker 1: his not that he gets down to himself, because he
- 16:36Speaker 1: really doesn't, and he hasn't been disrupted by any means,
- 16:38Speaker 1: but just to see his involvement, you could tell that
- 16:41Speaker 1: confidence boost was there and just what he's been able
- 16:44Speaker 1: to do. I think the limited stats we've seen, but
- 16:46Speaker 1: the games that Zay Jones plays, Calvin really really benefits
- 16:48Speaker 1: from that.
- 16:49Speaker 4: I underestimated. I think how it might take him more
- 16:53Speaker 4: time to get back into the flow of the season
- 16:55Speaker 4: after missing two years. He's shown us some things this
- 16:58Speaker 4: year and it hasn't always been his faulty offense has
- 17:00Speaker 4: not given enough time for Trevor, and Trevor hasn't been mobile.
- 17:03Speaker 4: But I thought yesterday was important John, and you heard
- 17:06Speaker 4: it in his voice in the post game, because he
- 17:08Speaker 4: has been talking about how good of a player he is.
- 17:11Speaker 4: He has been boosting his own confidence and letting people
- 17:14Speaker 4: see the confident Calvin. But I think until yesterday, I
- 17:18Speaker 4: think maybe he questioned, how long is it going to
- 17:20Speaker 4: take me to get back to where I was? I
- 17:21Speaker 4: was before I left the game?
- 17:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, it's only Nashville.
- 17:25Speaker 5: You're out of the game for two years or essentially
- 17:28Speaker 5: two years, and then you're out of the game last
- 17:31Speaker 5: year for a reason that you don't want to be
- 17:34Speaker 5: and that you know people are looking at you because
- 17:37Speaker 5: you know it wasn't a great reason to be out
- 17:40Speaker 5: of the games, so people are criticizing you. I think
- 17:45Speaker 5: it's unfair to him to say that he hasn't helped
- 17:47Speaker 5: this team already. I'm not sure they win Week one
- 17:51Speaker 5: in Indy, No, they do without him. The touchdown against
- 17:56Speaker 5: the Falcons. I know it came on kind of a
- 17:58Speaker 5: bust and play, but that got you going. You don't
- 18:00Speaker 5: win in against Buffalo in London without him at all.
- 18:04Speaker 5: And then yesterday he has a huge impact three hundred
- 18:06Speaker 5: yard games, A lot of criticism from him in my
- 18:10Speaker 5: inbox last week. When is it okay to start criticizing
- 18:13Speaker 5: cowway you criticize anything you want if you're a fan.
- 18:16Speaker 6: But this kid's good.
- 18:18Speaker 5: The ten interference penalties, holdings, whatever, that shows you enough
- 18:23Speaker 5: that he's hard to cover. There's no doubt that he's
- 18:26Speaker 5: gonna make this team better as the season goes forward.
- 18:28Speaker 6: He's still the above the x's and o's guy.
- 18:29Speaker 4: In this So he is, and I do think he's
- 18:31Speaker 4: also like a great running back in the sense that
- 18:33Speaker 4: you got to feed him. You've got to get him
- 18:35Speaker 4: going and get his confidence going. In that first catch
- 18:38Speaker 4: that he made on the Titans sideline where he was
- 18:40Speaker 4: on the ground on third down and pulled the ball away,
- 18:43Speaker 4: you could see him get up with a little extra
- 18:45Speaker 4: spark in his step. So I think I think we'll
- 18:48Speaker 4: see him heavily involved the rest of the way because
- 18:52Speaker 4: the Jaguars are much better when he is.
- 18:53Speaker 5: And give him a little credit to In the post
- 18:55Speaker 5: game yesterday, somebody asked him about beating one on one
- 18:57Speaker 5: coverage and the phrasing, is it finally good to be
- 19:01Speaker 5: able to beat that? You haven't seen that much? And
- 19:03Speaker 5: he said, no, I've seen it. I've got to beat it.
- 19:06Speaker 5: He's a confident kid. He walks with a swagger, but
- 19:11Speaker 5: he's not afraid to tell you when he hasn't done
- 19:15Speaker 5: well enough. You know, I think he's going to be
- 19:19Speaker 5: a huge factor going forward. For the last couple of weeks,
- 19:21Speaker 5: I thought that his above the x's and those stuff
- 19:23Speaker 5: would be the difference. I still think that it's going
- 19:27Speaker 5: to continue to win them games, because thenk.
- 19:31Speaker 6: It already has.
- 19:32Speaker 1: I love to see him when he was talking to
- 19:33Speaker 1: his post game as well, drawn when someone said, oh,
- 19:35Speaker 1: you've been drawing those PI penalties.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Do you get some satisfaction out of that, and he
- 19:38Speaker 3: said absolutely not.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I want to catch the football and I want to
- 19:40Speaker 1: score touchdowns like I did today.
- 19:42Speaker 3: And I think we all a those.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Pis helped the team.
- 19:44Speaker 3: They did.
- 19:44Speaker 6: I get it from a receiver's point of view.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Even the team guys want their numbers and that doesn't
- 19:51Speaker 5: get him numbers, but maybe it should because those pis
- 19:55Speaker 5: for him have been They were huge yesterday.
- 19:57Speaker 6: There was one early they kept a drive going.
- 19:58Speaker 4: So we're too down.
- 20:00Speaker 6: When you're hard to cover enough that teams have to
- 20:03Speaker 6: cheat to be cheap. Yeah, it's a good thing for us.
- 20:07Speaker 5: I'm saying cheat, but you have to do things above
- 20:10Speaker 5: to stop him. That means you're good.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Think nice for him to have a day though, and
- 20:16Speaker 1: at home in front of the fans kind of show
- 20:18Speaker 1: everybody what he's capable of. Certainly he was enjoying that
- 20:21Speaker 1: post game for sure. We do have to mention that
- 20:23Speaker 1: one Titans touchdown, the early on one with Levis with
- 20:26Speaker 1: that flea flicker, because I want to mention at least
- 20:29Speaker 1: because there seems to be some miscommunication on the secondary
- 20:31Speaker 1: on that one, and we had talked about some of
- 20:33Speaker 1: the miscommunication they had against the text, which that reminded
- 20:37Speaker 1: me of, and that's something that they've had. If you
- 20:40Speaker 1: want to have a little achilles heel on the defense,
- 20:41Speaker 1: it can be that at times.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Well that's about the route that tanked Dell ran for
- 20:47Speaker 4: that set up had the same problem. Yeah, with that
- 20:50Speaker 4: one away, So they're you want to come out of
- 20:53Speaker 4: a game and they do right with enough to work
- 20:55Speaker 4: on to get your sharp for next week. That loss
- 20:58Speaker 4: to the San Francisco forty nine ers had this team sharp.
- 21:02Speaker 4: They need a couple of these, I think going into
- 21:04Speaker 4: the Texans game.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought there was an element here too, where
- 21:09Speaker 5: you know, you get sucked in by the play call
- 21:12Speaker 5: and then the hop's pretty good.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Yeah, so I mean, yeah, one on one, you're gonna
- 21:16Speaker 3: get it.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's I thought the thing that was
- 21:19Speaker 5: too bad on this drive was Calebon and getting called
- 21:22Speaker 5: for the roughing the passer. Yeah, and that's when I've
- 21:26Speaker 5: got a lot of emails on that call, so I'll
- 21:29Speaker 5: talk about it. It's a it's a tough rule for
- 21:33Speaker 5: the defense because they ruled that he fell on him
- 21:36Speaker 5: with his weight it. I don't know what in the
- 21:38Speaker 5: world Klebon could have done differently.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Was it the guy falling on top of him? In doubling?
- 21:42Speaker 4: I thought maybe if you were gonna legitimately throw it,
- 21:45Speaker 4: you would have thrown it at Roy Robertson Harris he
- 21:47Speaker 4: landed on top of Calebon, who landed on top of
- 21:49Speaker 4: the quarterback. But you're absolutely right.
- 21:50Speaker 6: It's a hard call.
- 21:51Speaker 4: It's a hard one.
- 21:53Speaker 5: The official has to make it. It has to be
- 21:55Speaker 5: in to protect quarterbacks. It's patently unfair to defenses. Sometimes
- 22:00Speaker 5: I think you just can't.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Live with it. When we were talking with Doug last
- 22:02Speaker 4: Wednesday about quarterbacks and protecting quarterbacks and what more can
- 22:07Speaker 4: you do? In fact, we're talking about them Friday after
- 22:09Speaker 4: Joe Burrow had gotten hurt and is there more you
- 22:11Speaker 4: can do? Because the quarterbacks are so important and you've
- 22:14Speaker 4: seen so many big ones, but there was nice time
- 22:16Speaker 4: this year had done different. Well, it was a perfect play,
- 22:18Speaker 4: and he's two hundred and forty five pounds and he
- 22:22Speaker 4: so is Levice.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I really felt that was in the mix because when
- 22:26Speaker 1: you look at both of them falling on top of Leves,
- 22:28Speaker 1: that was the issue.
- 22:29Speaker 5: Even then it's tell then you've got to tell exactly.
- 22:33Speaker 6: You got to tell Roy to stop in that situation.
- 22:35Speaker 5: It's an impossible situation for the defense because their coordinators
- 22:38Speaker 5: and coaches are telling him go hard.
- 22:41Speaker 6: They just had to live with.
- 22:42Speaker 5: You would hope that at least they don't get fined
- 22:45Speaker 5: for it, because right, it's not really their fault, but
- 22:49Speaker 5: it has to be called.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Up to Roy, right. I thought it was a picture
- 22:52Speaker 4: perfectly hit him right here, right between the head and
- 22:56Speaker 4: the knees, which is the only strike zone. You've got
- 23:00Speaker 4: forty five pound man. You got to put him on
- 23:01Speaker 4: the ground. You can't just try to baby him there.
- 23:04Speaker 4: You can't do that. So I think if legitimately we
- 23:07Speaker 4: had a chance to sit with the officials, they'd have
- 23:09Speaker 4: to say, well, it was Roy on top of.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Him and he can't coach the defense to stop there.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I mean, you'll live with that play. We don't like it,
- 23:14Speaker 1: but we'll live with it. We gave Ross mattisk the
- 23:17Speaker 1: long snapper some love earlier on in the first segment.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Now let's take a look at it because it was
- 23:21Speaker 1: complimentary football game, because Special Teams did a lot yesterday
- 23:24Speaker 1: as well.
- 23:25Speaker 4: And I mean, I love Joseph Lancah. He's the most
- 23:27Speaker 4: popular long snapper in Jaguars history and a phenomenal guy.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Gotta run for his money.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Joe wouldn't have made this play, sorry, Joe. That is
- 23:35Speaker 4: the first time I've ever seen a long snapper do
- 23:37Speaker 4: that in thirty years covering this game. And he's by
- 23:40Speaker 4: the way, if you watch Special Teams, John, you see
- 23:42Speaker 4: forty six, he's got the third most Special Teams tackles
- 23:45Speaker 4: on the squad second. Now, yeah, he what a great play.
- 23:49Speaker 6: Well, it's funny.
- 23:51Speaker 5: I didn't make a big deal out of it because
- 23:57Speaker 5: with Ross it's not unexpected. He makes tackles all the time.
- 24:00Speaker 5: To me, the only thing he added was the fun
- 24:03Speaker 5: on the phone recovered. He's always first guy down. They've
- 24:05Speaker 5: talked about it around here A lot in terms of coverage.
- 24:10Speaker 5: He's I can't imagine there's a better long snapper in
- 24:12Speaker 5: the league. In terms of being down there and being
- 24:14Speaker 5: a factor. Usually the long snapper is sort of the
- 24:17Speaker 5: guy who's also going down.
- 24:20Speaker 6: A ross is often first.
- 24:21Speaker 4: Guy down well and he pulls the ball out. He's
- 24:23Speaker 4: facing the Titans sideline and the ball goes to the
- 24:25Speaker 4: Jaguars sideline. You see him immediately turn up and just
- 24:29Speaker 4: jump the other direction. I just I freaking love it
- 24:32Speaker 4: when the long snapper gets some love.
- 24:33Speaker 1: People say things whatever you want to say about special teams,
- 24:36Speaker 1: they're very specific.
- 24:36Speaker 3: He's rosso's being a football player.
- 24:39Speaker 4: And if you go back and watch Doug Peterson's postgame
- 24:43Speaker 4: a locker room that's up on the website when they
- 24:46Speaker 4: talk about that play and you see Roy Robertson, Harrison,
- 24:49Speaker 4: the whole team giving him some love. Come of a
- 24:51Speaker 4: long snapper, right, I mean, it was an awesome, great moment.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Happy to see it. Let's take one final highlight today.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Trevor's second rushing touchdown of the day. The start of
- 24:59Speaker 1: the day I think was He's the first Jaguars quarterback
- 25:02Speaker 1: to have two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, which
- 25:04Speaker 1: is interesting to think about.
- 25:06Speaker 3: But I mean good for Trevor.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I love seeing Trevor run, and that's part of my
- 25:10Speaker 1: hot takes, so I won't get into too much into it,
- 25:12Speaker 1: but it opened so much stuff up yesterday just with
- 25:15Speaker 1: his and the threat he had of running.
- 25:18Speaker 4: You know, when you watched him play at Clemson, you
- 25:20Speaker 4: always knew he was the best player on the field,
- 25:23Speaker 4: and yesterday he felt like the best player on the
- 25:25Speaker 4: field without a doubt and was just showing off. I
- 25:30Speaker 4: loved it.
- 25:30Speaker 6: The old man and me says, you gotta stops taking
- 25:32Speaker 6: the ball like that.
- 25:33Speaker 4: No, it's not the old man, and you bet putting
- 25:36Speaker 4: it back on the inside for him.
- 25:38Speaker 6: Yesterday he needed it, This team needed it. It worked there,
- 25:43Speaker 6: it works.
- 25:43Speaker 1: It's fine, and it stops working, then we'll talk about it.
- 25:46Speaker 3: I love that there, all right, we love it.
- 25:49Speaker 1: All right, say that's coming back. We'll go over some
- 25:51Speaker 1: of our hot takes for the team after the break.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Sign up your furry friends for the Jaguars Official Four
- 26:02Speaker 1: Legged Fan Club for Pets, presented by Forevervet's Animal Hospital.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Your pet will receive access to exclusive merchandise events sweepstakes
- 26:09Speaker 1: throughout the season to the Jaguars dot Com Slash Promotions
- 26:13Speaker 1: Slash four Legged fan club to sign up today.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I don't think we talk enough about the defense.
- 26:20Speaker 1: You know.
- 26:20Speaker 2: They're the ones that have kept us in the majority
- 26:23Speaker 2: of our football games this season, you know, and they
- 26:25Speaker 2: did a nice job today. Is one of the things
- 26:26Speaker 2: that we knew going in we'd have to, you know,
- 26:29Speaker 2: slow down this run game, you know, and I thought
- 26:32Speaker 2: for the most part, did a nice job control the
- 26:34Speaker 2: line of scrimmage and they played fast. You know, they
- 26:37Speaker 2: played fast today and that was good to see. Our
- 26:39Speaker 2: secondary was was on point.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I have to politely disagree with Doug on that one
- 26:45Speaker 1: because we talked about the defense all the time because
- 26:47Speaker 1: they are amazing and they are the backbone of this
- 26:48Speaker 1: team for sure this season. But you know, probably won't
- 26:52Speaker 1: get as much love in this particular game, but they
- 26:53Speaker 1: played outstanding.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Yeah. I just felt like they were on it, you know,
- 26:57Speaker 4: And I kind of got to send from Rayshaw last
- 26:59Speaker 4: week that they would be. He just he's the heartbeat
- 27:01Speaker 4: of this defense. I know you could point to a
- 27:03Speaker 4: lot of different guys, but he's the energy, you know.
- 27:06Speaker 4: I mean, if I don't know how to describe it,
- 27:08Speaker 4: he's like an energy year for those guys. I mean,
- 27:10Speaker 4: he just juices him up. And I got the sense
- 27:12Speaker 4: last week that they were gonna come up with some
- 27:14Speaker 4: takeaways because of him.
- 27:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 5: I thought going into the game, the defense ability to
- 27:19Speaker 5: stop the run and to create take a and create
- 27:23Speaker 5: takeaways was the thing that the jag It was the
- 27:27Speaker 5: matchup edge that.
- 27:28Speaker 6: I thought would enable the Jaguars to control of the game.
- 27:31Speaker 6: And it did. That was right Pat me on the background, so.
- 27:37Speaker 5: And I thought, what really helped them be the dominant
- 27:40Speaker 5: team and allow them to be in control Some games,
- 27:43Speaker 5: when you're a good team, you're supposed.
- 27:45Speaker 6: To come out of it at the end.
- 27:47Speaker 5: Okay, that was a relatively easy one, and they're never easy,
- 27:51Speaker 5: but you know what I'm saying. You never really felt
- 27:53Speaker 5: like the Titans were gonna win that one. You got
- 27:55Speaker 5: to get some of those because you're just the better team.
- 27:58Speaker 5: The defense enable them to be the better team. And
- 28:00Speaker 5: for the most part, out of seventeen games this year,
- 28:03Speaker 5: I've said it multiple times, I think they're going to
- 28:05Speaker 5: be really really good, twelve or thirteen times.
- 28:09Speaker 6: It's hard in this lead to be great defensively every
- 28:11Speaker 6: week because the offenses are so good.
- 28:12Speaker 5: But they've gotten them to seven and three, and I
- 28:16Speaker 5: think most of the offense would tell you if the
- 28:18Speaker 5: defense wasn't playing well, this record be a lot different.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Certainly would be.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Let's go through our hot takes this week, Brian will
- 28:23Speaker 1: start off with you. What's your hot takes?
- 28:24Speaker 4: All right? Well, look, the nine carries for twenty one
- 28:27Speaker 4: yards and a two point six yard per carry average
- 28:29Speaker 4: is not going to dazzle anybody. But buried in there,
- 28:31Speaker 4: we're three six yard runs in the fourth quarter from
- 28:34Speaker 4: Tank big Speed. That is an element that this offense needs.
- 28:39Speaker 4: And I was talking with a member of the personnel
- 28:41Speaker 4: department during practice last week and I said, if you
- 28:43Speaker 4: get a lead this week, will you see big Speed
- 28:48Speaker 4: with the ball in his hands more than just once
- 28:50Speaker 4: or twice. Give him the ball? And there was like, yes,
- 28:53Speaker 4: we're waiting for that moment in the fourth quarter. Defeed
- 28:56Speaker 4: him and get him confident. Those three six yard runs
- 28:58Speaker 4: showcase power, they showcase patience, They showcase just enough wiggle
- 29:02Speaker 4: to get over the top of a defender and find more. Look,
- 29:06Speaker 4: Deanners Johnson is the number two back right now, but
- 29:08Speaker 4: he's not the power back. And Travis Dtn is a
- 29:11Speaker 4: home run hitter, and he can run with power occasionally,
- 29:13Speaker 4: but I don't see him as the power back John.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I think you're going to need this guy to come
- 29:18Speaker 4: in and hammer out on third down and four, whether
- 29:21Speaker 4: it's this week against the Texans or Monday night football,
- 29:23Speaker 4: or in Cleveland on a cold day coming up in
- 29:25Speaker 4: a couple of weeks, I think Tag Bigsby's going to
- 29:28Speaker 4: have some big opportunities, and I think he'll come through.
- 29:30Speaker 4: He's a good football player, despite the fact that he's
- 29:33Speaker 4: had a ball come off of his hands a couple
- 29:34Speaker 4: of times in the passing game.
- 29:35Speaker 6: Yeah, he's been so criticized, and frankly, rightfully.
- 29:39Speaker 5: So in a lot of situations. I've thought Tank's biggest.
- 29:44Speaker 6: Hurdle has been.
- 29:48Speaker 5: That in this offense right now, he's not gonna get
- 29:50Speaker 5: fifteen carries a game, right And think I said this
- 29:53Speaker 5: last week, if you gave Travis Etn three carries a
- 29:56Speaker 5: game right now, you wouldn't have any idea if he's
- 29:59Speaker 5: any good or not because the offensive line is not
- 30:02Speaker 5: blasting holes.
- 30:05Speaker 6: It has been.
- 30:06Speaker 5: The running game has been a stick to it running game,
- 30:10Speaker 5: meaning one to one and then seventeen yards. Well, Bigsby
- 30:15Speaker 5: really hasn't had a chance to get involved, and he
- 30:17Speaker 5: needs those carries. I still think that if he had
- 30:21Speaker 5: to carry the load in a game that you would
- 30:23Speaker 5: see more of what you saw late that you're talking about.
- 30:26Speaker 6: I think he's gonna be a good player.
- 30:27Speaker 4: And I don't think the fumble against the Steelers was
- 30:29Speaker 4: a fumble. I'll say that again. The ball's got off
- 30:31Speaker 4: his hands in two different ways. Have both been interceptions.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I don't think the fumble was there. I don't think
- 30:36Speaker 4: he's got a problem, even though people have taken that
- 30:39Speaker 4: as the narrative. I don't think he's a liability.
- 30:42Speaker 1: My problems with Tank and I agree with you. I
- 30:43Speaker 1: think seeing what he did in the fourth quarter was excellent.
- 30:46Speaker 1: He needs to be fed the ball a couple times
- 30:47Speaker 1: in a row, same drive get him going. But that's
- 30:50Speaker 1: when you're up by three touchdowns, because I don't think
- 30:52Speaker 1: we can put him in early in a game when
- 30:54Speaker 1: there's still things at risk at this point. And it's
- 30:56Speaker 1: not because I think he's going to fumble necessarily. It's
- 30:58Speaker 1: because what he did on special teams costly penalties, not blocking,
- 31:03Speaker 1: not knowing that coverage, things like that, And I don't
- 31:06Speaker 1: put anything against him. I think we get so caught
- 31:08Speaker 1: up in rookie's playing really well immediately. I don't think that.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I think he's someone that in his second year is
- 31:14Speaker 1: going to be amazing. It's you know, you see the
- 31:16Speaker 1: jump that Devin Lloyd has made it in his second season.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You see once they understand playing NFL football. I think
- 31:20Speaker 1: Tank can be one of those people. But it's week
- 31:22Speaker 1: twelve and I don't trust him. In the first and
- 31:24Speaker 1: second quarter when this game is.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Closed, you just can't shy away from talent. And he's
- 31:27Speaker 4: a hammer and they have not been good on third down,
- 31:30Speaker 4: and you're gonna need him. I'm telling you, you're gonna
- 31:32Speaker 4: need that power back at some point in this seven
- 31:35Speaker 4: game stretch, and you can't be scared.
- 31:36Speaker 6: He's not yeah to knocking guys backward late in the game.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Yesterday it was a stack box too.
- 31:43Speaker 5: I wonder how much it's gonna resonate with coaches, and
- 31:45Speaker 5: I think they're gonna try to figure out a way
- 31:46Speaker 5: to get him involved.
- 31:48Speaker 6: Even though Kay didn't.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Trust him, They're gonna do it. I just it's week twelve.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I can't at this point, I can't do anymore. Doug
- 31:54Speaker 1: will do it because Doug is that kind of coach
- 31:56Speaker 1: and he'll find a way. And I would love to
- 31:58Speaker 1: be wrong. Please run this tape back at me and
- 32:00Speaker 1: I'm wrong and Tank has a day. I hope that
- 32:02Speaker 1: happens very very soon, John, what's your hot take.
- 32:04Speaker 6: For I went with.
- 32:08Speaker 5: This team's good, and it's good whether fans believe it
- 32:12Speaker 5: or not. It's such an up and down thing and
- 32:14Speaker 5: it was so much angs last week. I don't know
- 32:17Speaker 5: if it's a great team. I don't see this team.
- 32:20Speaker 5: I hope I'm wrong. I don't see them being a
- 32:22Speaker 5: super Bowl favorite going into the playoffs. I see them
- 32:24Speaker 5: maybe being not twelve and five, eleven and six, maybe
- 32:28Speaker 5: twelve and five now.
- 32:30Speaker 6: But they're good, and.
- 32:33Speaker 5: Good teams do what they did yesterday, which is take
- 32:36Speaker 5: care of business against teams that aren't as good. How
- 32:39Speaker 5: many games, Bryan in the past do they play just
- 32:42Speaker 5: a muddled game yesterday against another team that's struggling, and
- 32:45Speaker 5: it's just more often than not. Yet I get the
- 32:49Speaker 5: fans who don't who I want them to be at
- 32:52Speaker 5: this Chi's forty nine ers level.
- 32:53Speaker 6: I don't know if they're there yet. I think they
- 32:54Speaker 6: can get there, but they're good.
- 32:57Speaker 5: I guess the point of the hot take is they
- 32:58Speaker 5: have a chance to get the if they improve, and
- 33:02Speaker 5: that's what December and January will be about.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Well, let me tell you where they can improve. And folks,
- 33:08Speaker 4: you've heard this from me ad nauseum four of twelve month.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Third down yesterday they couldn't stay on the field, okay,
- 33:15Speaker 4: and two field goals in the red zone in the
- 33:17Speaker 4: second half. If you score those two touchdowns and you're
- 33:20Speaker 4: up twenty one to nothing going into halftime instead of thirteen,
- 33:23Speaker 4: then you look like a great team and not what
- 33:26Speaker 4: I think is a very good team. Right, I'm with you,
- 33:29Speaker 4: they're good. They get to that great level when they
- 33:32Speaker 4: are near fifty percent on third down give me forty seven,
- 33:34Speaker 4: I'd take it, right. And when you're scoring touchdowns seventy
- 33:38Speaker 4: five percent of the time in the red zone, there's
- 33:41Speaker 4: no doubt they've got the weapons right to do that.
- 33:44Speaker 4: They just have to execute better. If they improve on
- 33:46Speaker 4: those two areas, they will be a team that will
- 33:49Speaker 4: make noise in the playoffs and maybe be a Super
- 33:52Speaker 4: Bowl contender.
- 33:52Speaker 5: And there are a lot of teams league right now
- 33:54Speaker 5: sitting record wise who I don't think would tell you
- 33:58Speaker 5: the straight face, Hey, we can get to great this year.
- 34:02Speaker 6: The Jaguars have the ability.
- 34:03Speaker 5: To get to great, and I think that's what is
- 34:06Speaker 5: going to make the final what is the seven games?
- 34:09Speaker 6: To me, that's the storyline. Can they go from here to.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Here good with a lot of upside. I think that's
- 34:13Speaker 1: a good way to describe it. My hot take this
- 34:15Speaker 1: week is about Trevor Lawrence. And we saw two rushing
- 34:18Speaker 1: touchdowns from yesterday, and we need I don't know if
- 34:20Speaker 1: we need touchdowns from every time, but we need to
- 34:23Speaker 1: see him keep running because that ability and that threat.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Not that he's you know, a crazy fast guy, but
- 34:28Speaker 1: he could turn on you know, the heaters when he
- 34:31Speaker 1: needs to and he gets there. And I think the
- 34:33Speaker 1: thing about it in our highlights, we looked at that
- 34:35Speaker 1: play on fourth down when he looked like he was
- 34:37Speaker 1: gonna run, kind of drew everyone in and then found
- 34:40Speaker 1: Dearness Johnson. That's what I want to see from him
- 34:42Speaker 1: more because the status.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Of the O line.
- 34:44Speaker 1: They played pretty well yesterday, but it's still not a
- 34:46Speaker 1: stout offensive line, so he does need to be able
- 34:48Speaker 1: to be mobile and then use that to create other things.
- 34:51Speaker 1: And from what we saw from yesterday, certainly capable of
- 34:54Speaker 1: doing that well.
- 34:55Speaker 4: And I loved on that first touchdown run where he
- 34:57Speaker 4: was still you know, shuffling his feet and back peddling,
- 35:00Speaker 4: but looking, you know, for the ball down the field.
- 35:03Speaker 4: He didn't necessarily want to run, but then he saw
- 35:06Speaker 4: it was his best option and he did. You need
- 35:08Speaker 4: that threat to keep defenders on us.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Yet it was clear watching yesterday that he hadn't been
- 35:14Speaker 5: the same guy the last three or four weeks, and
- 35:16Speaker 5: a credit him for playing giving them a chance to
- 35:20Speaker 5: win in those games.
- 35:23Speaker 6: He as earlier in the show.
- 35:25Speaker 5: He needs that element, that threat right now to make
- 35:30Speaker 5: him feel like Superman so to speak, right, I mean,
- 35:33Speaker 5: and that's what he sort of started feeling like as
- 35:36Speaker 5: he figured out, Hey, I've got the mobility, I'm on
- 35:39Speaker 5: it today.
- 35:40Speaker 3: That confidence boosts he can tell he plays differently with it.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Stay with us.

- 36:13Speaker 1: those currently serving. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Sweep service game yesterday we saw tons of bets here.
- 36:19Speaker 3: It was a great day.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it was just awesome.
- 36:21Speaker 6: Jack always is.
- 36:23Speaker 7: I mean, well, I'm not thinking about any of that stuff.
- 36:26Speaker 7: I could care less what those what those guys say,
- 36:28Speaker 7: to be honest, that's really my only response to that.
- 36:30Speaker 4: You know, it doesn't matter.
- 36:32Speaker 7: You know, if those guys think I'm the best thing
- 36:36Speaker 7: in the world, it doesn't matter either. So that doesn't
- 36:39Speaker 7: really matter. Love Arden, the former teammate, hurts that he said.
- 36:42Speaker 4: That, But now I really don't.
- 36:44Speaker 7: I don't care. You know, it's about how you perform
- 36:46Speaker 7: on Sunday, and you know it's not about what other
- 36:49Speaker 7: people say. But you want to change a narrative and
- 36:50Speaker 7: change a narrative and play better.
- 36:51Speaker 1: So former Jaguar art and he said, Trevor wasn't that guy.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Did you see? As he was setting up they had
- 36:59Speaker 4: him live on TV as they were trying to get
- 37:01Speaker 4: the sideline reporter to him, and Arden came up and
- 37:04Speaker 4: interrupted them and gave him a big hug. I mean
- 37:05Speaker 4: it was Arden's a talker, it's it's what he does.
- 37:08Speaker 4: He was throwing shade at him, but he certainly proved
- 37:12Speaker 4: him wrong. And that's what I love about Trevor is
- 37:14Speaker 4: he doesn't want to point his finger and argue with people.
- 37:16Speaker 4: He goes, I should play better, and he did yesterday
- 37:19Speaker 4: and and it was fun to watch Arden come over
- 37:21Speaker 4: and sort of eat cro.
- 37:23Speaker 6: The NFL is supposed to be fun.
- 37:24Speaker 3: It was fun.
- 37:25Speaker 5: It's sports, it's fun. That kind of talking is fun,
- 37:29Speaker 5: and yeah, it's fun.
- 37:32Speaker 1: I loved it. Shout out to Trevor for waffle House today.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Bought everybody waffle House. There's if there's a guy that's him.
- 37:38Speaker 3: It's Trevor.
- 37:39Speaker 4: That's still one of his great moments as a pro
- 37:40Speaker 4: is walking into the waffle House out in Jacksonville Beach
- 37:43Speaker 4: after that win last year with his whole crew. I mean,
- 37:46Speaker 4: that was It's such a Jacksonville thing, it's such a
- 37:48Speaker 4: a Southern thing, and he's a Southern kid. Uh, it
- 37:51Speaker 4: just it just it just fit it's why he fits
- 37:54Speaker 4: here so well. He's he just gets it.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Victory Monday.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Enjoy your victory Monday, enjoy your waffle House if you had,
