- 0:00Happy Sunday, everybody. It is the greatest day in
- 0:05Motorsports history, as Mark Martin would say, history in
- 0:10that Arkansas draw. I love Mark Martin.
- 0:14All right, we starting off with the the Formula One race over
- 0:18Monaco and then we'll come on over here to America and we got
- 0:23the Indianapolis 500, the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500
- 0:29in Indianapolis, IN. And then we're going to finish
- 0:32it all off right here where I'm at.
- 0:34I'm in Charlotte, NC right now. I'm at my mom's house and it's
- 0:39the Coke 600. Now remember today at 12 noon,
- 0:43we kick it off with trackside live right behind the main
- 0:47grandstands on the big stage. You're going to want to show up.
- 0:51It's going to be a great show. We got Ryan Priest, we got Ricky
- 0:55Stenhouse, who else we got. Gosh, I did all my studying last
- 1:02night. Check us out.
- 1:05OK, One thing that I was thinking about, this is Memorial
- 1:11Day weekend and I want to say thank you to everybody that
- 1:17served. And you know, we get into this
- 1:19every year. How do we say it right?
- 1:22Are you saying it right? Thank you to everyone that
- 1:27served in any military in any way, men, women, anybody.
- 1:35So I did my best. I love you all.
- 1:38We wouldn't be where we're at today without today.
- 1:42Everybody that served and and saved this beautiful country.
- 1:46God Bless America, greatest land of all.
- 1:49All right, everybody, let's get started.
- 1:51So one more thing. Hold on now, hold on.
- 1:55Tomorrow is Memorial Day. I Google it, Google it.
- 2:00It is Memorial Day weekend, but tomorrow on Monday, Monday is
- 2:05Memorial Day. But it is a great day to say
- 2:09thank you to everybody that served yesterday.
- 2:12On Saturday, somebody talked about retirement and boy, oh
- 2:18boy, did did it? Did it push a a nerve?
- 2:22It's like Ann Schrader says, Herman, I had one bad nerve left
- 2:28and you stepped on it. Ann Schrader, she teaches me a
- 2:33lot. She's got some great sayings.
- 2:34She really has taught me a lot. But so I said something about
- 2:39retirement yesterday, said somebody said about Jimmie
- 2:42Johnson or, or some great racers not retiring, right?
- 2:48And I said the word retirement is not in a successful person's
- 2:54vocabulary. I'm going to say that one more
- 2:56time. This is what created the the
- 2:59drama Saturday night. The word retirement is not in a
- 3:06successful person's vocabulary. No, no.
- 3:11Why did that piss some people off?
- 3:15All right, so I'm going to say this.
- 3:20I understand. I will admit that the word
- 3:23retirement means that you have worked a factory job your whole
- 3:27life. You have given your soul, you
- 3:30have given your life to Anheuser Busch.
- 3:33So in St. Louis, MO, you have a union job.
- 3:36You worked at, you worked at Anheuser Busch, you've worked on
- 3:39the railroad. Wherever you work, you worked 30
- 3:43years and now it's time for you to enjoy life.
- 3:48There you go, smell the roses. Mom's got some beautiful roses
- 3:54out here, whatever that is. Plants.
- 3:56I'm not good at horticulture or whatever.
- 3:59You respond right here. You know everything.
- 4:04But you know, I get it. I get it.
- 4:09It means you have financial freedom.
- 4:11The word retirement means you have financial freedom.
- 4:15It means now the man doesn't got you anymore.
- 4:19You can relax. You can relax.
- 4:23That's what retirement means. Retirement means now you can
- 4:27relax. You've got your money saved up,
- 4:29you're going to get your Social Security.
- 4:31You don't have to rely on the man.
- 4:35Take here we go, ADHD kicking in.
- 4:39Take this job and shove it. I ain't working here no more.
- 4:45Remember that? Oh, what a great song.
- 4:50Forever, forever. You work for a living and you
- 4:56and you think it's you think it's their fault You're making
- 4:59me work. I don't like where I work.
- 5:03So for years there was that negativity over the people you
- 5:08work for. Damn it, they're making me work.
- 5:11I hate my job. I can't wait till I retire.
- 5:14Sit on my ass and watch TV, drink some beer, I hang.
- 5:20That's the way it always was. OK, now that I've explained to
- 5:24you I understand what retirement is, let me tell you what I
- 5:27learned. I was like that too.
- 5:30I can't wait to retire until my life.
- 5:35Coach Ashok Chagar from India, he said my friend in that thick
- 5:42Indian from India accent, he would say this now Ashok ran
- 5:52ACPA, you know company and he's still my CPA of 27 years.
- 5:59I've been with the same CPA slash life coach Ashok.
- 6:05He's got all these clients and here's what Ashok started
- 6:08teaching me. My friend, client, the client or
- 6:17retires, they move away. They come back two years later,
- 6:22they say I'm getting ready to die.
- 6:24I have to start company back up. See, when you retire, sometimes
- 6:34that means you start dying. Let me explain.
- 6:40What does Rodger Penske, Warren Buffett, the great ones, what do
- 6:47they have in common? That's right.
- 6:49They're almost 90 years old and they're still working.
- 6:53I asked brother Rusty one day. By the way, it's a little cold
- 6:58out here and I'm doing my best. Got my see here.
- 7:03Don't worry about this hand. Worry about this one here.
- 7:06Holding the phone. And I understand that you're
- 7:10studying everything. I'm not an idiot.
- 7:12He's shaking, but it's not this hand.
- 7:16It'd be this hand. OK, now that now that we've got
- 7:20that done, you can you can quit studying everything.
- 7:22I love Sunoco. So I once asked my brother
- 7:26Rusty. I said, Rusty, why does Rodger
- 7:31Penske keep working since he's got billions of dollars?
- 7:35One of the wealthiest man in the world.
- 7:37Why does Warren Buffett keep working?
- 7:40Why do these people, Charlie Munger, which was Warren
- 7:44Buffett's dear friend, partner in crime, why do all these 80
- 7:49and 90 year old people keep working?
- 7:52Because they enjoy it and that's what they know to do.
- 7:58My wife, Kim Edna, her grandma, she was 86 years old and she
- 8:04would go back to work. See, here's what you'll find in
- 8:08retirement. Now I'm retired and we all know
- 8:12that. We all know that Don't don't
- 8:15make me keep going on that. Some of you get pissed when I
- 8:18tell you don't get, don't get pissed.
- 8:21These are real life stories. My friend Eddie Balkovic.
- 8:25Eddie. Eddie's a retired
- 8:27microbiologist, but, but Eddie still, he runs the HOA down
- 8:33there in, you know, Pinehurst down there by the Rockingham
- 8:37racetrack. Eddie's got to stay busy.
- 8:39He's got to have something to do.
- 8:43You will learn, and I have learned that retirement means
- 8:49just that. It means you are financially
- 8:51stable now. But now it's time to go to work.
- 8:55Now it's time to do what you want to do.
- 8:58I'm as busier than I've ever been in my life.
- 9:02Let me explain. Marcus Smith called me up.
- 9:06He goes, Herman, I need you to come back to these race tracks
- 9:09and do trackside live. At first I said no, you can ask
- 9:13Marcus this. Then about three years went by
- 9:17and I got a trophy for running the most dirt races and dirt car
- 9:22UMP that year, that year. Now I don't hold the record.
- 9:26I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear it.
- 9:29I don't hold the record. But about four years ago I ran
- 9:3368 dirt races. I got it out of my system.
- 9:38I got it out of my system. And then when Marcus Smith
- 9:42called me again, I said, you know what?
- 9:44I'm ready to come back to NASCAR.
- 9:47So now I do 11 trackside lives. And of course, this coffee with
- 9:52Kenny's turned into its own animal.
- 9:55We got the Kenny Wallace YouTube show.
- 9:57We got Kenny conversation. We do the charity rides.
- 10:02Hey, it's a lot of fun. We're raising money for Kyle
- 10:05Petty and the Kyle Petty charity.
- 10:07We're we're motorcycle riding. I'm helping Big Brother Rusty.
- 10:11We got the big charity ride out in Sturgis on that Friday.
- 10:16I got a wonderful family. We're still making money.
- 10:21We're retired, but we're digging.
- 10:23So when I said retirement is not in successful people's
- 10:30vocabulary, I meant just that. People that are successful do
- 10:35not sit on their ass. However, I do understand.
- 10:40You know, the beautiful couple with the with the Gray hair,
- 10:43they moved to Florida. The sun is shining on them and
- 10:47they're enjoying life. I get that.
- 10:51But you got to have something to do.
- 10:55Remember what Ashok said? I'll leave it like this, my
- 10:58friend, my friend, my friends. They retire.
- 11:03They retire two years. They come back because their
- 11:07heart quit beating. They need something to do.
- 11:14Respond right here, everybody. And by the way, respectfully,
- 11:23this is an innuendo and I'm not going to tell you who this is
- 11:26about. I choose to do this.
- 11:30I choose to let you know my business.
- 11:33I don't let you know everything. You know that health update we
- 11:37did. You know the whole Mayo Clinic
- 11:39deal over there on YouTube, over 60,000 views.
- 11:45And at the racetrack on Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in
- 11:48Granite City, IL, I had a line outside my trailer.
- 11:54People smiling, older people smiling.
- 11:56Herman, thank you so much for telling us all about your
- 12:00health. You've really helped us.
- 12:02I'm going to start eating vegetables and fruit now.
- 12:04And yeah, you're right. I've, I, I don't do that enough.
- 12:08I've, I've neglected my fruits and vegetables.
- 12:10And hey, Herman, coffee really is the laxative, ain't it?
- 12:17So for the wonderful people that worry about me, that I give out
- 12:21too much information, I don't give out everything.
- 12:27Have a wonderful, wonderful Sunday and remember tomorrow,
- 12:31Monday, is Memorial Day. Lots of love, everybody.
