- 0:02Speaker 1: Life audio and the sequels can be tough in a
- 0:06Speaker 1: movie of business.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yeah, did you think this one would work? I was terrified.
- 0:10Speaker 3: I didn't know if it would work stepping into this,
- 0:11Speaker 3: I just did want to screw up what the first
- 0:13Speaker 3: one did, and I didn't want to go back to
- 0:15Speaker 3: it if it was a gimmick, And so I was
- 0:17Speaker 3: really skeptical. But my co director brenmaccorky brought the story
- 0:21Speaker 3: to me with Bart and said, have you heard the
- 0:23Speaker 3: second half of Bart's life? And it was this idea
- 0:26Speaker 3: of like what happens if the happily ever after breaks?
- 0:29Speaker 3: You know, what happens after you get everything you think
- 0:31Speaker 3: you want and the crowd goes home and the plause
- 0:33Speaker 3: stops and life gets hard.
- 0:35Speaker 2: And so I think that was a message of hope
- 0:38Speaker 2: that really really resonated with me.
- 0:40Speaker 3: To tell Tim Timmins, who's kind of this new character
- 0:43Speaker 3: in the story that becomes a spiritual guide for Bart.
- 0:45Speaker 3: And then the idea and my levint to Bela absolutely
- 0:48Speaker 3: kills it at it. And then the idea of being
- 0:50Speaker 3: able to go back and finish what Dennis and I
- 0:52Speaker 3: got a chance to start, you know, eight years ago,
- 0:55Speaker 3: to finish that story and fully complete it. And we
- 0:59Speaker 3: just really want as we stepped into it, we wanted
- 1:01Speaker 3: it to be a story that took those stories somewhere
- 1:05Speaker 3: new and fresh, and it wasn't what you would expect
- 1:08Speaker 3: in a typical sequel, and that it would really catch
- 1:10Speaker 3: you off garden.
- 1:11Speaker 2: As audiences have.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Watched it, you know, test audiences and things like that,
- 1:15Speaker 3: it's been awesome to see the response because it's not
- 1:18Speaker 3: at all what they expect.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Dennis, what what resonated with you about this film? Why
- 1:22Speaker 2: did you want to be a part of it?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Jose I want to be at every one of his movies.
- 1:27Speaker 2: That's that's why it's a feeling that's very antual.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and uh so, But it's not really a sequel
- 1:34Speaker 4: to be it's a continuation of this and that you know,
- 1:38Speaker 4: I have a small part in it because it's I've
- 1:40Speaker 4: been I'm a memory really, it's really what this comes
- 1:44Speaker 4: down to, and in that Bart's memory of his father
- 1:49Speaker 4: and his relationship with him.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Thank god he had a good one in there, and
- 1:54Speaker 2: it you.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Know, it just it's this movie is very much about
- 1:59Speaker 1: fathers and son and the.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Chain of that relationship, you know, from generation to generation, and.
- 2:07Speaker 1: That's really glad to be a part of that.
- 2:10Speaker 2: This is at least your third living dentist with with Andy,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and it's gonna John.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Had these movies changed you personally?
- 2:17Speaker 2: I mean I would think that's playing these roles about
- 2:19Speaker 2: redeption over and over and impact of person.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Well, I don't know if they've changed me, but you know,
- 2:34Speaker 4: there's a thirst out there for for these movies, and
- 2:37Speaker 4: there was the thirst in meet to play parts like
- 2:39Speaker 4: this because it really it's you know, these are what
- 2:42Speaker 4: makes movies about are things that I've struggled with, think
- 2:46Speaker 4: about happened in my life. You know, those things that
- 2:52Speaker 4: don't get talked about or you know that the real
- 2:56Speaker 4: questions life. That's what Andy is so good about, authentic
- 3:01Speaker 4: in his storytelling like that without beating it over the head.
- 3:06Speaker 4: He speaks to that that inner voice in all of us.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Then that ask the big questions Andy, This is a
- 3:17Speaker 3: movie that has about ten positive themes.
- 3:20Speaker 2: In my mind, what are the big ones that you
- 3:21Speaker 2: want to resonate with with audiences? I mean, I think
- 3:24Speaker 2: the real big one is gratitude. You know.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Gratitude is like you know, I think the first movie
- 3:30Speaker 3: was about Bart. There's a father son story of a
- 3:33Speaker 3: son coming to terms with his father and it resulted
- 3:37Speaker 3: in hope. This movie is you know, we kind of
- 3:40Speaker 3: break that happily ever after. And this movie is about
- 3:44Speaker 3: Bart as a father having to come to terms with
- 3:46Speaker 3: his own son, realizing that, you know, he feels not prepared,
- 3:51Speaker 3: that his dad never taught him how to do this job.
- 3:54Speaker 3: And what it results in in this story is gratitude.
- 3:57Speaker 3: And I think gratitude is is hope with teeth to it.
- 4:00Speaker 3: It's it's hope that's fought for and lived in it.
- 4:02Speaker 3: It's something that you struggle to find. And the catalyst
- 4:06Speaker 3: to that story and this one is this character Tim
- 4:08Speaker 3: Timmins that Milevin Tamelia plays amazingly, and Tim has an
- 4:13Speaker 3: amazing story that a lot of people don't know that
- 4:16Speaker 3: they'll find out as they watch the movie. But he
- 4:18Speaker 3: wakes up every day grateful for another day and mark's
- 4:20Speaker 3: an X on his wrist with a sharpie, like he's
- 4:23Speaker 3: marking off a calendar for a day that he wasn't promised.
- 4:26Speaker 3: And it's just that idea of that idea of gratitude.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I think that's an important one. And then that idea
- 4:31Speaker 3: of just completing, like Dennis said, that chain of fatherhood,
- 4:35Speaker 3: of healing the relationship with your father so that you
- 4:38Speaker 3: can give it to your son or to your kids.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, the gratitude is the shortest road to happiness, I said, Hey.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
