  Speaker 2: today we get to start the Book of Acts chapter nineteen.

  Speaker 2: We finished chapter eighteen on our Life last episode, and

  Speaker 2: so we see the apostle Paul in his missionary journeys
• 5:06
  Speaker 2: some cities. He was driven out of he had to
• 5:09
  Speaker 2: flee for his life. In some cities he was able
• 5:13
  Speaker 2: to stay for a couple of years. God's divine protection
• 5:17
  Speaker 2: was on him. The last episode we saw Priscilla and Aquila.
• 5:23
  Speaker 2: They were able to give instruction to a minister who
• 5:26
  Speaker 2: received it, and his ministry was even more powerful. He
• 5:32
  Speaker 2: was able to vigorously debate that Christ Jesus is the
• 5:38
  Speaker 2: Messiah from the scripture. And so we're gonna see that
• 5:43
  Speaker 2: happen again today on this chapter. This chapter is entitled
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Amen?
• 5:54
  Speaker 2: So le's go to chapter nineteen, verse one. And it
• 6:00
  Speaker 2: happened while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed
• 6:07
  Speaker 2: through the upper regions, came to Ephesus in finding some disciples.
• 6:15
  Speaker 2: Now a little bit of history. Who is Apollos. Apollos
• 6:22
  Speaker 2: was in the last chapter. He was the minister that
• 6:25
  Speaker 2: Priscilla and Aquila were able to minister to and told
• 6:30
  Speaker 2: him he was baptized in the baptism of John. Only
• 6:34
  Speaker 2: he was not aware of the baptism of Christ Jesus,
• 6:40
  Speaker 2: and so he received Christ and he was able to
• 6:43
  Speaker 2: vigorously confront the Jews. Now the story does not follow
• 6:49
  Speaker 2: with him. We don't know if he was ran out
• 6:50
  Speaker 2: of town or what happened to him. I'm pretty sure
• 6:56
  Speaker 2: it was similar to Paul's experience with the story. He
• 7:00
  Speaker 2: goes back to Paul the apostle, and he is traveling
• 7:04
  Speaker 2: again the upper regions of Ephesus, and he finds some disciples. Now,
• 7:13
  Speaker 2: Paul arives in Ephesis and encounters believers, but something is
• 7:20
  Speaker 2: missing spiritually. They're called disciples, but they were not fully equipped.

  Speaker 2: When you keep be around truth but still lack power,

  Speaker 2: let me say that again. Believe it. We can be
• 7:44
  Speaker 2: around the truth, but we can still lack empower. Now
• 7:53
  Speaker 2: and I think this is awesome because the Bible tells
• 7:56
  Speaker 2: us that Jesus left gifts to the church, and the
• 8:02
  Speaker 2: gifts are found in our apostles, our pastors, our teachers, evangelists.

  Speaker 2: God will raise up leaders in the body to help
• 8:14
  Speaker 2: equip us. Right. The Bible says that the pastor is
• 8:17
  Speaker 2: to equip the saints for the work of the ministry.
• 8:21
  Speaker 2: And this is what we see happening right here with Paul.

  Speaker 2: This is happening right here even on this podcast. Is
• 8:29
  Speaker 2: my job, even though I may not be your pastor
• 8:32
  Speaker 2: per se. But as a teacher, and even though I'm
• 8:36
  Speaker 2: digital and online, what I teach and what I bring

  Speaker 2: to the listeners prayerfully is I'm equipping you for the ministry.

  Speaker 2: That you are being equipped and that you are no
• 8:54
  Speaker 2: longer lacking power. The knowledge that we share, the knowledge

  Speaker 2: that we gain together from the Word should be increasing

  Speaker 2: power to everyone involved. Amen. And that's one reason why
• 9:09
  Speaker 2: we do have the accountability partner on here. So a
• 9:15
  Speaker 2: healthy ministry will equipped the believers. Amen. Verse two. He
• 9:23
  Speaker 2: said to them, did you receive the Holy Spirit when
• 9:26
  Speaker 2: you believed?

  Speaker 4: So?

  Speaker 2: They said to him, we have not so much as
• 9:30
  Speaker 2: heard whether there is a Holy Spirit. Now this is amazing.
• 9:35
  Speaker 2: This shows a distinction between belief and the empowering of
• 9:43
  Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit. We can believe, but we can still
• 9:47
  Speaker 2: lack the power of the Holy Spirit. Now, Paul didn't
• 9:52
  Speaker 2: ask him did you go to church? Or Paul didn't
• 9:57
  Speaker 2: say do you believe in God? He asked did you
• 10:02
  Speaker 2: receive the Holy Spirit? He is very specific in his question.
• 10:10
  Speaker 2: Salvation is essential, but power comes through the Holy Spirit.
• 10:18
  Speaker 2: And this is a question that most pastors, all the
• 10:23
  Speaker 2: pastors should ask their members in the body. If you
• 10:27
  Speaker 2: are working with disciples, if you are working with the church,
• 10:34
  Speaker 2: if you have a teaching ministry, if you have a
• 10:39
  Speaker 2: leadership role. Even if you're a husband, you should ask
• 10:46
  Speaker 2: your wife did you receive the Holy Spirit? You should
• 10:48
  Speaker 2: ask your children did you receive the Holy Spirit? Because
• 10:53
  Speaker 2: it's believing. It's great, don't get me wrong, and can't
• 10:58
  Speaker 2: be saved and go to heaven. But we would have
• 11:01
  Speaker 2: a greater experience of victory if we receive power from
• 11:08
  Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Amen,
• 11:14
  Speaker 2: this is a question we all ask ourselves verse three.
• 11:21
  Speaker 2: And he said to them, unto what then were you baptized?
• 11:27
  Speaker 2: So they said, unto John's baptism. They heard repentance, but
• 11:38
  Speaker 2: not revelation. They did not receive the revelation that there
• 11:47
  Speaker 2: is a power that follows repentance, the baptism of the
• 11:53
  Speaker 2: Holy Spirit. Now we saw this in the Book of Acts.
• 11:56
  Speaker 2: Remember when Paul the Apostle went to the Gentile was
• 12:01
  Speaker 2: at Cornelius's house, and he couldn't even finish speaking and
• 12:05
  Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit fell. So this tells us a couple
• 12:10
  Speaker 2: of things. Right here we follow faithfully the scripture. First,
• 12:14
  Speaker 2: this tells us how effective of the ministry of John
• 12:18
  Speaker 2: the Baptist was here. Paul is traveling, he's all the
• 12:22
  Speaker 2: way over in Ephesus, and he's traveling the world. And
• 12:28
  Speaker 2: I believe Ephesus is in Europe, right, ancient Europe, and
• 12:34
  Speaker 2: he's finding believers. He's running into believers. But these believers
• 12:42
  Speaker 2: only knew the baptism of John. And John preached repentance.
• 12:47
  Speaker 2: He remember he said, bring fruit and keeping with repentance,
• 12:54
  Speaker 2: which is essential. Even Jesus himself preached repentance when he
• 12:59
  Speaker 2: started his ministry. But remember, John says, I baptize you
• 13:03
  Speaker 2: with water, but there's one who's greater than I who
• 13:07
  Speaker 2: will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. So John was
• 13:12
  Speaker 2: not able to impart the Holy Spirit unto the believers.
• 13:18
  Speaker 2: That was not his ministry. That was reserved only for Christ,
• 13:24
  Speaker 2: the anointed One Yah shu Ahamashiah. We should praise God, Amen,
• 13:33
  Speaker 2: and be thankful even the more for the ministry of
• 13:37
  Speaker 2: Christ Jesus. Jesus says that I go, but I will
• 13:41
  Speaker 2: send you a helper that comes through Jesus. Believing in
• 13:46
  Speaker 2: Jesus and through Jesus alone, there is no other way
• 13:52
  Speaker 2: that we can receive this power, but through Christ. You
• 13:56
  Speaker 2: can't buy it, you can't pay for it. It's a relation,
• 14:00
  Speaker 2: relationship with God. Hallelujah, man, this is awesome. Verse four,

  Speaker 2: And Paul said, John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance,
• 14:15
  Speaker 2: saying to the people that they should believe on him
• 14:19
  Speaker 2: whom can't come after him, that is on the Christ.
• 14:24
  Speaker 2: John the Baptists himself said, this is not the complete revelation, right,
• 14:30
  Speaker 2: John pointed forward to Jesus. But these disciples hadn't fully
• 14:37
  Speaker 2: stepped into that truth.
• 14:41
  Speaker 3: Another one.

  Speaker 2: They were still stuck on that. They should have been
• 14:45
  Speaker 2: waiting for the Messiah, or they should have been looking
• 14:51
  Speaker 2: for the Messiah, right if they were to receive the
• 14:59
  Speaker 2: full teaching, John the Baptist, he said himself, but they
• 15:05
  Speaker 2: were stuck right there in repentance. Now, repentance prepares you,
• 15:13
  Speaker 2: But Jesus completes the work, hallelujah. Verse five. When they
• 15:21
  Speaker 2: heard this, they were baptized in the name of the
• 15:24
  Speaker 2: Lord Jesus. Hallelujah. When truth comes, they responded immediately. When
• 15:35
  Speaker 2: they heard the truth and they understood it fully, they
• 15:39
  Speaker 2: had an immediate response. The late obedience is still disobedience.
• 15:45
  Speaker 2: Remember of Mars hill. When Paul gave his speech, some
• 15:50
  Speaker 2: mocked them, and some said come back at a later time,
• 15:54
  Speaker 2: And who knows if that later time ever came. This
• 15:59
  Speaker 2: was the visitation, This was their time for salvation is now, Amen,
• 16:08
  Speaker 2: don't miss your day of visitation when God wants to
• 16:14
  Speaker 2: bring a breakthrough in your life. Hallelujah. Verse six. And
• 16:20
  Speaker 2: when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit
• 16:23
  Speaker 2: came upon them and they spoke with tongues and prophesy.
• 16:29
  Speaker 2: Now this is the empowering of the Holy Spirit and
• 16:34
  Speaker 2: the evidence outwardly. Now they have salvation. They have an understanding,
• 16:44
  Speaker 2: now a better understanding, and then now they have the
• 16:48
  Speaker 2: power of the Holy Spirit. God doesn't just save us, beloved,
• 16:54
  Speaker 2: he empowers us. Hallelujah. There's even an indictment in the
• 16:59
  Speaker 2: Book of Timothy where it says that they had a
• 17:02
  Speaker 2: form of godliness, but deny the powers thereof. Do not
• 17:07
  Speaker 2: deny the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives. Amen, hallelujah.

  Speaker 2: Now there's a bit of a controversy, and I'm not
• 17:19
  Speaker 2: gonna stay in it too long, but some people I've
• 17:24
  Speaker 2: heard say that you can have the baptism of the
• 17:27
  Speaker 2: Holy Spirit without the evidence of speaking in tongues. Some
• 17:33
  Speaker 2: ministries teach that speaking in tongues is the evidence of
• 17:39
  Speaker 2: the power.
• 17:40
  Speaker 4: Of the Holy Spirit.
• 17:42
  Speaker 2: Some camps would say that if you don't speak in tongues,
• 17:47
  Speaker 2: you don't have the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. And
• 17:52
  Speaker 2: some will say that you can have the empowerment because
• 17:55
  Speaker 2: not everyone speaks in tongues, that doesn't mean they're not
• 17:59
  Speaker 2: empowered by the Holy Spirit. Now belove it. I'm gonna
• 18:04
  Speaker 2: share with you which camp I'm in, and then I'm
• 18:07
  Speaker 2: gonna leave you to do your own study and ask
• 18:09
  Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the truth of
• 18:13
  Speaker 2: this matter, because I believe right with the better understanding,
• 18:19
  Speaker 2: there's better empowerment. Now think about it. If not everyone
• 18:27
  Speaker 2: receives the Holy Spirit, Paul, remember Paul came to them
• 18:35
  Speaker 2: and said, have you received the Holy Spirit? Since you believed?
• 18:41
  Speaker 2: Now something Paul had discernments, something prompted Paul to ask
• 18:46
  Speaker 2: that question. That they are lacking power. They're lacking something. Hallelujah.

  Speaker 2: And then every time in the Book of Acts, when
• 18:58
  Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit fell, people spoken tongues. I haven't seen
• 19:05
  Speaker 2: a verse yet where it says the Holy Spirit fell
• 19:08
  Speaker 2: and they were silent, and they did not make a sound.
• 19:14
  Speaker 2: So to say, faithful to the scriptures. I'm in the
• 19:17
  Speaker 2: camp of Yes. Speaking in tongues is evidence of the
• 19:23
  Speaker 2: empowerment of the Holy Spirit. That's where I'm at. I
• 19:30
  Speaker 2: know that I speaking tongues. I remember the power of
• 19:34
  Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit that came upon me. Now, we need
• 19:37
  Speaker 2: to be filled with the Spirit daily. A man, we
• 19:42
  Speaker 2: need to be filled daily with this power. But do
• 19:48
  Speaker 2: not leave this part out of your salvation, because you're
• 19:53
  Speaker 2: going to struggle. We all need the power of the
• 19:55
  Speaker 2: Holy Spirit. You may be a believer, but you're not
• 19:58
  Speaker 2: empowered by the spirit. And we see this now in
• 20:02
  Speaker 2: the Book of Acts verse seven. Now the men were
• 20:07
  Speaker 2: about twelve in all, just twelve men. But God can
• 20:11
  Speaker 2: use a small group to shake the whole world. We
• 20:14
  Speaker 2: can see what happened with the twelve Apostles Amen, verse eight.

  Speaker 2: And when he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly
• 20:24
  Speaker 2: to for three months, reasoning and preaching concerning the things
• 20:30
  Speaker 2: of the Kingdom of God. Hallelujah. Now Paul consistently taught
• 20:36
  Speaker 2: truth with boldness and with patience. Paul was a great teacher.

  Speaker 2: He was a man that reasoned, and he persuaded concerning Now,
• 20:50
  Speaker 2: it's important what you believe. It's important to allow the
• 20:56
  Speaker 2: word to get into our hearts, our mind, what we
• 20:59
  Speaker 2: think about out and what we meditate on is very important.

  Speaker 2: We need to reason with the word. We need to

  Speaker 2: be persuaded. We need to be taught the word. Amen.

  Speaker 2: Now he was there for three months and that's all

  Speaker 2: he did was taught growth, Beloved, will take time, and

  Speaker 2: it takes consistency. Amen. That's why on this podcast, that's

  Speaker 2: why we do it daily. That's why I encourage the

  Speaker 2: people that I work with or that I'm encouraging. That

  Speaker 2: God allowed Amen for me to work with and fellowship with.

  Speaker 2: people probably do, but I mean they're not going to

  Speaker 2: be that healthy and strong. Of course, we take a

  Speaker 2: time out, a period of time to fast, but if

  Speaker 2: you don't eat, you're gonna be weak and eventually pass away.

  Speaker 2: And it's the same thing in the spiritual realm. We

  Speaker 2: need to feast on the Word of God daily. And
• 22:31
  Speaker 2: I pray that this podcast helps you. It doesn't, it's not.

  Speaker 2: It's just an enhancement, right. It's not a replacement for

  Speaker 2: your devotional time with the Lord, but it's an enhancement

  Speaker 2: spiritual disciplines. Amen, all right, Acts nine, I mean verse nine.

  Speaker 2: But when some were hardened and did not believe, but

  Speaker 2: spoke evil of the way before the multitude, he departed

  Speaker 2: from them and withdrew the disciples. Reasoning daily in the

  Speaker 2: school of Tyrannus. Now when hearts become hardened, Paul shifts strategies.

  Speaker 2: Not the message. People may reject. You reject your message.

  Speaker 2: Don't water down or compromise the truth. Just switch the strategy.

  Speaker 2: When I outreach and I witness the people and I
• 23:46
  Speaker 2: come against a brick wall, I just go to the
• 23:48
  Speaker 2: heart that is open. Amen. Some rejected some even spoke evil.

  Speaker 2: They got up and spoke evil to the multitudes. That
• 23:58
  Speaker 2: is wicked. But Paul did not quit. He just adjusted.

  Speaker 2: Don't keep forcing truth on hardened hearts. Focus on those
• 24:11
  Speaker 2: who are ready.

  Speaker 2: Jesus would quietly when they told Jesus to leave, he

  Speaker 2: would just quietly dismiss himself, and he would go to

  Speaker 2: where opportunities were open. Amen, Verse ten. And this continued

  Speaker 2: for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia

  Speaker 2: heard the word of the Lord, both jew and Greek.

  Speaker 2: Now two years of consistency, here are the results. The

  Speaker 2: entire region heard the word. Amen. How many of us

  Speaker 2: can say the entire region heard the word of the
• 25:04
  Speaker 2: Lord heard of the gospel because of your ministry, And
• 25:10
  Speaker 2: since can if I can talk right, Consistency produces kingdom impact.

  Speaker 2: Let me say that is again, consistency, this is powerful
• 25:23
  Speaker 2: produces kingdom impact. Amen. Do you want to produce an

  Speaker 2: Do you want to make a difference in your community?
