- 0:23Speaker 1: make a great story later. And let's face it, you
- 0:26Speaker 1: don't laugh sometimes you're gonna cry. Join us in having
- 0:30Speaker 1: a good laugh together. I'm Monica Samuels. You are now
- 0:35Speaker 1: inside the Mom's Club, your private destination for all things mom.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Welcome Mom's welcome to Inside the Mom's Club. I'm your host,
- 0:47Speaker 1: Monica Samuels, and today I have a special co host,
- 0:52Speaker 1: Georgia Orchid. Welcome Georgia.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Thank you Monica Jeres.
- 0:57Speaker 1: For joining us. So, Georgia is the daughter of our
- 1:01Speaker 1: co host Julie, and we sent Julie off on assignment
- 1:06Speaker 1: so that Georgia could come and sud for her. Because
- 1:09Speaker 1: I have a lot of questions. So, Georgia, what's the
- 1:12Speaker 1: most embarrassing thing you can share about your mother?
- 1:15Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:15Speaker 4: Well, where do I start?
- 1:18Speaker 1: No, No, we're not going to do that. So, so
- 1:23Speaker 1: you and your mom, But you and your mom have
- 1:24Speaker 1: a great relationship. You're very close, right, would you? Yeah?
- 1:30Speaker 4: I would say we're very close. It would seem to.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Be I think, so she helped you move out here
- 1:34Speaker 1: to Los Angeles, right, she sure did.
- 1:36Speaker 2: My mom has always been there for I just graduated
- 1:39Speaker 2: from college a year ago. My mom has been there
- 1:40Speaker 2: for all stages of life, in all stages of moving
- 1:44Speaker 2: me in and out of different eras that I've lived through.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And so now you graduated college and you are ready
- 1:50Speaker 1: to start your your life and adult hanks, ma'am. So
- 1:55Speaker 1: you don't have to call me ma'am.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yes, I'm from the South.
- 1:58Speaker 1: That's just that's true. That's very polite. I appreciate that.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Well.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So she just moved you out here to LA and
- 2:06Speaker 1: I know she's gonna miss you terribly. Are you gonna
- 2:09Speaker 1: visit a lot? At least you're gonna be a good
- 2:10Speaker 1: daughter and.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Visit often. I will absolutely.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Welcome her often into your home.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm returning to Austin, Texas later this week
- 2:21Speaker 2: because my sister is going to be in her senior
- 2:23Speaker 2: play and she's a soccer player. She'll have her senior
- 2:25Speaker 2: moments in high school.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So that's good. So yeah, because I have two sons,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and sometimes it's tougher with when you have sons, like
- 2:32Speaker 1: they go off and you know, I call us, well,
- 2:37Speaker 1: they will. Yes, but I my oldest son, and this
- 2:40Speaker 1: is not to criticize, but he has an apartment. I've
- 2:43Speaker 1: never seen it and it's in Austin, where we live.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So oh, he's not yet invited us. Now that maybe
- 2:48Speaker 1: that's a good thing. Maybe it's because it's not presentable.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I don't know what the deal is. But so yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: so would you ever? Would you ever work with your mom?
- 2:58Speaker 1: I mean, do you think how would that go?
- 3:00Speaker 4: I think it would. It depends on the topic. I feel.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I feel like we would work together.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Well, she doesn't watching.
- 3:08Speaker 2: She's watching this show right now, so I feel like
- 3:10Speaker 2: I have to say that you do.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you some advice. She is she is
- 3:17Speaker 1: actually yeah, she's actually watching what you're doing. Yeah, that's
- 3:23Speaker 1: kind of a mom thing too. She's also I don't
- 3:25Speaker 1: want to make you conscious of this, but from what
- 3:29Speaker 1: I understand, she's got the text numbers of everybody in
- 3:31Speaker 1: the studio and she's texting notes and things. Yeah, so
- 3:34Speaker 1: she will actually very much on top produce. The producer
- 3:37Speaker 1: in this room just told me to sit up straighter.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yes, but not because she thought I was slouching, but
- 3:41Speaker 2: because I love my mother, who's in Texas.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Where did text at her to tell me to sit
- 3:45Speaker 1: up there? Where did that come from? Yeah?
- 3:47Speaker 2: So no, am I sitting straight enough?
- 3:51Speaker 1: Hey? I get that all the time too, And I
- 3:53Speaker 1: couldn't be tall. You're sitting up straight. You're doing a
- 3:56Speaker 1: great job. I think it's I think you're good. Could
- 3:59Speaker 1: you ever do that us with your mom? Maybe? Not
- 4:01Speaker 1: that I'm actually I thought, not that I'm wonder in
- 4:03Speaker 1: the coast chair, but two co hosts together. Yeah, maybe
- 4:08Speaker 1: you guys could.
- 4:08Speaker 2: The embarrassing stories would be never ending.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Okay, well, you know what, We're gonna do another episode
- 4:13Speaker 1: later when she's not watching with all the embarrassing stuff. Well,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you know what, Mothers and daughters are amazing, all amazing,
- 4:21Speaker 1: as we say, And we have a mother and daughter
- 4:24Speaker 1: team here to get today. Who are the duo behind
- 4:28Speaker 1: Elite Home Staging and Elite Mason Furniture. And they also
- 4:32Speaker 1: have a podcast called The Power of We, which peels
- 4:36Speaker 1: back the curtain on sobriety, sanity, and survival. Please welcome,
- 4:40Speaker 1: Samantha and Nicole Sinio.
- 4:42Speaker 6: Welcome to the.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Most Probably.
- 4:45Speaker 5: It's so nice to be here. It's like amazing to
- 4:48Speaker 5: be here and we're not there. Yeah, well, I like
- 4:51Speaker 5: it interview us in this chair. We're always there interviewing everyone,
- 4:56Speaker 5: and it's so fun. I love seeing the dynamic. Good
- 4:58Speaker 5: for you for coming on amazing.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's great. Now how did you all start
- 5:03Speaker 1: doing a podcast together?
- 5:05Speaker 7: Oh?
- 5:05Speaker 5: We met this crazy lady. We met this amazing lady
- 5:10Speaker 5: and I think you know her. And she said, I
- 5:13Speaker 5: want you to tell your story and I was like,
- 5:18Speaker 5: how am I going to do that?
- 5:19Speaker 4: And she's like, have you ever heard of a podcast?
- 5:21Speaker 4: I was like nope. It was during pandemic right yeah, right.
- 5:25Speaker 3: After and you know, I was still doing zoom classes
- 5:29Speaker 3: and I skipped my zoom class because for some reason,
- 5:31Speaker 3: I was like, I have to go to this meeting.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Oh yeah. She was like, our life's about to change.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 5: So we met with her and we knew instantly, like
- 5:42Speaker 5: we had such a connection. And I didn't even know
- 5:44Speaker 5: what a podcast was. I didn't even know what she
- 5:46Speaker 5: wanted me to do, but I knew I had to
- 5:48Speaker 5: do it.
- 5:49Speaker 1: So tell me a little bit about your story that
- 5:51Speaker 1: made her think this would be a great podcast.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Where to start?
- 5:54Speaker 4: Yeah, well you start?
- 5:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we have just like as a family,
- 6:00Speaker 3: oh crazy story. We're both sober and it's good for you. Yeah,
- 6:05Speaker 3: thank you.
- 6:07Speaker 5: We're sober and my son sober. So we're a sober family.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Let's get that started. And that was not easy to
- 6:13Speaker 5: get there, right, Yeah, it was. Actually we have some
- 6:18Speaker 5: crazy stories.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean yeah.
- 6:22Speaker 4: We had so much going on in our life.
- 6:25Speaker 5: You know, I was a single mom when they were
- 6:28Speaker 5: five and six, and what happened to me was, you know,
- 6:33Speaker 5: I wanted to keep them in their lifestyle, right, so
- 6:36Speaker 5: I would go out to you know, cocktails with my
- 6:38Speaker 5: friends with moms and the kids would be playing and
- 6:41Speaker 5: I would start with a glass of wine. And that
- 6:44Speaker 5: was like my way of, you know, dealing with the
- 6:47Speaker 5: stress as a single mom. And that was really hard.
- 6:51Speaker 5: You know, it's hard on the kids. It's going to
- 6:53Speaker 5: make me cry. I'm not used to talking about this lately,
- 6:57Speaker 5: but it was. It was real. It was real life,
- 7:02Speaker 5: and being a.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Mom is not easy.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Being a single mom is definitely not easy, right, And
- 7:07Speaker 5: you know, I know a lot of people out there.
- 7:09Speaker 4: You're scared.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Sometimes you don't know what to do with your life,
- 7:13Speaker 5: so you pick up that glass of wine. Yesterday, I
- 7:15Speaker 5: was at a lunch and I saw these moms with
- 7:18Speaker 5: kids and it was like eleven o'clock and they were
- 7:20Speaker 5: drinking wine. And let me tell you, that was me.
- 7:23Speaker 5: But you know what, that didn't get me anywhere. What
- 7:25Speaker 5: it got me is a lot of headache.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yeah. And since we've been on this like sober journey
- 7:29Speaker 3: together with her and my younger brother as well, we've
- 7:33Speaker 3: just been able to like reconnect in such a special
- 7:35Speaker 3: way where we can really be there for each other.
- 7:38Speaker 3: We have such an open and honest relationship and we
- 7:40Speaker 3: can do so many fun things together and it's just
- 7:42Speaker 3: like such a great way to live. And I think
- 7:45Speaker 3: it's just changed everything. And that's why we wanted to
- 7:47Speaker 3: start the podcast to show people that even if you
- 7:50Speaker 3: come from like a dysfunctional family or whatever, you can
- 7:54Speaker 3: I'm emotional.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I don't even would you cry a lot, show you
- 7:59Speaker 1: don't worry about that. We laugh too though.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Yeah, you can have an amazing, amazing time with your family. Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 3: things can change.
- 8:06Speaker 5: I mean it changed a hundred percent after that. And
- 8:10Speaker 5: then you know, then we just started. I always wanted
- 8:14Speaker 5: to empower women to get into staging. So there was
- 8:17Speaker 5: no nobody was doing staging right. It was a big
- 8:23Speaker 5: company and me and little companies, but women did not
- 8:26Speaker 5: have careers in staging.
- 8:27Speaker 4: And I was like, when I.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Spoke on Steve Schul's stage and people were asking me
- 8:33Speaker 5: all kinds of questions, I said, you know what, that's it.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I'm going to make sure that people know women know
- 8:39Speaker 5: they can have a career in staging. And that was
- 8:41Speaker 5: really one of my things I wanted to do. And
- 8:43Speaker 5: then little by little she started working at the bottom
- 8:47Speaker 5: in my company, and now you know, I'm going to
- 8:49Speaker 5: fast forward. She's a big time boss empowering young entrepreneurs.
- 8:55Speaker 5: So now there's so many young entrepreneurs. It wasn't like
- 8:59Speaker 5: that when I was like doing it and it's fun.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Thank god she can deal with them, so I deal
- 9:05Speaker 5: with my age.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yeah here, I know exactly what you're saying. So, so
- 9:09Speaker 1: were you Did you have the staging business when you
- 9:12Speaker 1: were first divorced and they were little?
- 9:14Speaker 5: So where did I got divorced in two thousand and
- 9:16Speaker 5: eight and I was like, we lived in Calabasas. I
- 9:19Speaker 5: lived a very bougie life. I didn't know what I
- 9:21Speaker 5: was going to do with my life. And a realtor said,
- 9:25Speaker 5: you're going to start a staging company, and I was
- 9:27Speaker 5: like okay, great. So they were six and seven and
- 9:31Speaker 5: I started the staging company in my garage with a partner,
- 9:35Speaker 5: and literally they would come home and they'd be like,
- 9:37Speaker 5: where's my bed? Well, hold on a second, let me
- 9:41Speaker 5: get back to you. But yeah, so we started there
- 9:46Speaker 5: and then I slowly built it up, and the alcohol
- 9:49Speaker 5: was during that time. And then you know, they went.
- 9:54Speaker 4: To high school.
- 9:55Speaker 5: That's when it was hard for me, because high school
- 9:58Speaker 5: is hard for moms.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know, it was hard for everyone.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I was just gonna say that, Yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 3: As a dog, sure you can really like you don't
- 10:07Speaker 3: really know what's going on. You're trying to figure everything out.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And like for me, that's when I first saw drugs
- 10:12Speaker 3: and alcohol at least. And she was crazy. So that
- 10:16Speaker 3: was fun and I got to throw all the parties
- 10:19Speaker 3: because I had the crazy mom. I mean, we had
- 10:21Speaker 3: a lot of fun.
- 10:22Speaker 1: So you were the mom that I was.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Let's go to Cabo.
- 10:27Speaker 5: You bring three friends, Brandon, you're breaking three friends, and
- 10:30Speaker 5: then we would go. It was we had a lot
- 10:34Speaker 5: of good times. But you know, the alcohol does bring
- 10:36Speaker 5: out like other things. So it's just not the way
- 10:40Speaker 5: I wanted to live my life, you know, but I mean,
- 10:45Speaker 5: we have grown so much. I can't even tell you
- 10:48Speaker 5: not that Laurie helped us start on the podcast, which
- 10:51Speaker 5: has changed our life one hundred percent for forever. You know,
- 10:55Speaker 5: we are very grateful to her. And then we kind
- 10:58Speaker 5: of brought this whole thing into our company. So when
- 11:03Speaker 5: we hire, we make sure they understand we are here
- 11:06Speaker 5: to empower you for your journey.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Right. So, Nicole, you know, trains them.
- 11:12Speaker 5: We do meditations with them, we do positive affirmations with them,
- 11:16Speaker 5: we do all that kind of stuff, so they know
- 11:19Speaker 5: they're amazing just the way they are.
- 11:22Speaker 4: But we're going to help guide them to the next
- 11:25Speaker 4: level in their love.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Well, one of the things you said, which I think
- 11:28Speaker 1: is so true in our society, you were just going
- 11:31Speaker 1: to mom's events and everybody's drinking, so I can see.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And I practiced law for years, and the little time
- 11:38Speaker 1: that we ever got to go anywhere outside the office,
- 11:41Speaker 1: it was always let's go get margarita, let's go do this.
- 11:43Speaker 1: It was all around alcohol, So it's very easy to
- 11:45Speaker 1: fall into that.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And then did you feel like watching your mom as
- 11:50Speaker 1: she was drinking more? Did that make you feel like,
- 11:54Speaker 1: as this high schooler that oh, well, you know it's cool. Yeah,
- 11:56Speaker 1: I think with your friends around her doesn't have any
- 11:58Speaker 1: impact on you at all.
- 12:00Speaker 3: For sure. I think, like as a child coming from
- 12:03Speaker 3: like an alcoholic family or anything like that, when you
- 12:06Speaker 3: see that's what's normal in your mind, you normalize it, right, Like, well,
- 12:09Speaker 3: mom had a drink to feel better, so I should
- 12:11Speaker 3: have a drink to feel better. And that kind of
- 12:13Speaker 3: stuff is like it just gets played in your selbconscious
- 12:15Speaker 3: without I think you knowing it, and that's when you know.
- 12:20Speaker 3: And then also like mom was having fun, so I
- 12:23Speaker 3: was like, oh, I could have fun too, and like,
- 12:25Speaker 3: you know, it just happens, and I'm sure you can.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Relate, right right.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I actually am hearing the timeline. I think we might
- 12:30Speaker 2: be the same age. I'm twenty two.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Okay, I wish I'm.
- 12:41Speaker 2: This happens every time I like, I get the yeah
- 12:46Speaker 2: yeah closer in age.
- 12:49Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Well, I was wondering what it would what it's like
- 12:51Speaker 2: working together with your mom.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Honestly, we have a really good time. We have a
- 12:57Speaker 3: great relationship now, and we mess with each other a lot.
- 13:00Speaker 3: And we're also very different. We use different parts of
- 13:03Speaker 3: our brain. I'm pretty I'm more logical and she's very
- 13:06Speaker 3: creative and like we get each other. We know each
- 13:08Speaker 3: other so well that when she's thinking about things, I
- 13:09Speaker 3: just know what she's thinking about without her having to
- 13:11Speaker 3: explain it, so I can explain it to other people.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I don't know. We have this like crazy connection where
- 13:16Speaker 3: it just works.
- 13:16Speaker 4: No, that happens with me with my mom.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Sometimes she's trying to say something and I'm like, no,
- 13:21Speaker 2: I understand what you're trying to say. And it's almost
- 13:23Speaker 2: like your daughter can be your own like translator. But
- 13:27Speaker 2: it's not like another language. It's just your mom's brain
- 13:29Speaker 2: into something everybody else can understand.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 4: I can see how that can be very helpful in
- 13:34Speaker 4: a business capacity for you guys.
- 13:36Speaker 1: So how'd you get in? Then you told us how
- 13:38Speaker 1: you got into staging? But was that so? Let's face,
- 13:41Speaker 1: my husband would be the first one to tell you,
- 13:43Speaker 1: I could never do a staging business. I mean maybe
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's not easy, maybe an antique store like full of joke, because.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Waging business is not for the week. I'm going to
- 13:53Speaker 5: tell you right now. I mean, do I work all
- 13:55Speaker 5: the time? One hundred percent. I work a lot. I'm
- 13:58Speaker 5: very involved in my company. I have a very big company.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Now.
- 14:03Speaker 5: The reason I have a big company is because I
- 14:06Speaker 5: stayed present in my company, and that is so important
- 14:09Speaker 5: for any moms that are trying to start a business.
- 14:12Speaker 5: It's important to also be with your kids, but to
- 14:15Speaker 5: stay present even when you get bigger, because people need
- 14:19Speaker 5: to still.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Want to talk to you.
- 14:21Speaker 5: They still want to know that you're involved in your business, right,
- 14:25Speaker 5: And that's really why I think it's keeps.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Going up and up and up. And I'm not corporate, right.
- 14:31Speaker 5: I started in my garage, so and I funded everything,
- 14:35Speaker 5: you know, little by little by little.
- 14:37Speaker 1: So how did what were you doing before that? Because
- 14:40Speaker 1: for someone to stay at your house for sale, you
- 14:43Speaker 1: would want to see what their what their work looks like.
- 14:46Speaker 1: So if you just started, were you working with somebody
- 14:48Speaker 1: else and you were kind of what was sing or
- 14:51Speaker 1: staying no?
- 14:53Speaker 4: So that's so funny.
- 14:56Speaker 5: So I got divorced and this big realtor said you
- 15:00Speaker 5: need to start a staging company and I didn't even
- 15:02Speaker 5: know what that was. And he said, you just need
- 15:04Speaker 5: to decorate homes and you know that need to be sold.
- 15:07Speaker 5: And I was like, okay, I can do that. I
- 15:09Speaker 5: can do that because I built four houses. I didn't
- 15:12Speaker 5: even think to myself. I can't do that. I don't
- 15:16Speaker 5: have past work. I don't I just did it. I
- 15:19Speaker 5: went out, I did presentations. I went and I got furniture,
- 15:24Speaker 5: and I just went. I didn't even put that thought
- 15:26Speaker 5: in my head. What did I do before? I sold
- 15:30Speaker 5: purses and jewelry when they were babies at a restaurant,
- 15:33Speaker 5: I'd sell ten thousand dollars a night and sell to
- 15:35Speaker 5: all the moms.
- 15:37Speaker 4: That's what I did.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It's very good.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Before that, I was in selling cell phones when they
- 15:42Speaker 5: first came out.
- 15:43Speaker 4: So nothing to do with any wo wow.
- 15:45Speaker 5: So I've always been an entrepreneur and I always have
- 15:49Speaker 5: been very creative.
- 15:50Speaker 4: I'm a very creative person. My eye is very creative.
- 15:53Speaker 5: So I just you know, when I put something in
- 15:56Speaker 5: my mind, I know I can do it, and then
- 15:57Speaker 5: I do it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Well, that's impressive because for someone to allow someone to
- 16:01Speaker 1: come into your house to stage it, like I have
- 16:03Speaker 1: a friend who just did that and she said, oh, Monica,
- 16:06Speaker 1: it was really something. They just like took. I just
- 16:09Speaker 1: watched them being carted out of my house. I could
- 16:10Speaker 1: barely talk because they were packing everything up and then
- 16:14Speaker 1: sending it off to the storage unit. So you've to
- 16:16Speaker 1: have a lot of trust.
- 16:17Speaker 5: But you got to remember back then, people didn't even
- 16:20Speaker 5: know what staging was.
- 16:21Speaker 4: I had to talk them into it. First of all.
- 16:24Speaker 5: I had to explain to them, when you stage, you're
- 16:27Speaker 5: going to get so much more, so much money, more
- 16:30Speaker 5: money for your home that you would never because you
- 16:33Speaker 5: have all this personal stuff out. So I had to
- 16:36Speaker 5: explain it all to them and then bring it in
- 16:39Speaker 5: and then it started happening. One after the other people
- 16:42Speaker 5: would get more money for their home.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So what's the stuff you want to take out then?
- 16:46Speaker 4: Because all the personal stuff, the.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Family photos and things like small belongings are an important
- 16:52Speaker 3: thing to take out of your home because when you
- 16:55Speaker 3: know a potential family is walking through the house, they
- 16:57Speaker 3: want to picture themselves living there. So we always highly
- 16:59Speaker 3: recommend depersonalizing the house.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So if I want six oscars, I should remove them
- 17:04Speaker 1: because I also.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Privacy purposes too, especially in LA like we signed work
- 17:11Speaker 3: with a lot of people who need to get rid
- 17:13Speaker 3: of all their stuff put them away because you just don't.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Know, and decluttering is the cluttering one.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Yeah, people don't realize when you're going to sell your house.
- 17:23Speaker 5: You gotta when when we walk in the door, you
- 17:26Speaker 5: got to think the house is going to be sold
- 17:27Speaker 5: in three minutes. So that's exactly what you know. You
- 17:32Speaker 5: have to already get that mindset that I'm selling my house.
- 17:35Speaker 5: I've got to clear out, clean out, declutter, and get
- 17:39Speaker 5: the personal stuff out.
- 17:40Speaker 1: So really I'm essentially moving. Yes, already moving.
- 17:44Speaker 4: You're moving on to your next journey. How excited.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I just think about it like that, like you're moving.
- 17:49Speaker 3: You get all your stuff ready to move, and let
- 17:51Speaker 3: us do our job so it sells quickly and then
- 17:53Speaker 3: you're ready to go.
- 17:54Speaker 5: I mean, we actually are helping people's dreams come true
- 17:57Speaker 5: because their dream is to get out of that house, right,
- 18:00Speaker 5: And that's how that's.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Quite a job. Like I have hundreds of books, and
- 18:06Speaker 1: my friend was telling me that the person that stayed
- 18:08Speaker 1: her house took every cover off of every one of
- 18:10Speaker 1: her books, like it would take for I mean, I
- 18:14Speaker 1: mean if I ever had to put them all back on,
- 18:15Speaker 1: that would like that's so everybody's a different philosophy. I
- 18:19Speaker 1: guess as to what needs to go. And of course,
- 18:21Speaker 1: well so things have changed. So we were supposed to
- 18:24Speaker 1: be here a couple of weeks ago. The fires kept.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Us from going devastating.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I live in Austin, Texas, And I was at a
- 18:35Speaker 1: get together with neighbors the other night and there's like,
- 18:38Speaker 1: oh you, all these families from Palisades are moving to
- 18:41Speaker 1: Austin and we're all talking each other. Do you want
- 18:44Speaker 1: to sell your house? Do you want to sell your house?
- 18:45Speaker 1: Because everybody's like leaving because they don't have a house
- 18:51Speaker 1: to go to. But what's it like? Now? What's your
- 18:56Speaker 1: business like? And I know you've even you're helping people
- 18:59Speaker 1: that have lost everything, So tell us a little bit
- 19:02Speaker 1: about that.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Well, this isn't my first rodeo, let me tell you,
- 19:05Speaker 5: so let me just go back. So I feel like
- 19:08Speaker 5: every time there's some kind of catastrophe in Los Angeles,
- 19:12Speaker 5: I'm like the first responder. And I do that on
- 19:15Speaker 5: purpose because I would give back to the community immensely.
- 19:20Speaker 5: So when COVID hit, every single thing was shut down
- 19:24Speaker 5: like crazy. But my business manager said, you're essential, I
- 19:28Speaker 5: was like, perfect, what does that mean?
- 19:29Speaker 4: He's like, go do what you do and let me
- 19:31Speaker 4: tell you.
- 19:32Speaker 5: We helped so many families be able to because they
- 19:36Speaker 5: were really freaked out. Then I would go, I would
- 19:39Speaker 5: help them. I would tell them to get them ready
- 19:42Speaker 5: for staging. And then they'd move to wherever state they
- 19:45Speaker 5: wanted to. But so I've already kind of done that.
- 19:49Speaker 5: So this time when the fires happened, I knew immediately.
- 19:53Speaker 5: I put a package together, a rental package, and I
- 19:56Speaker 5: advertised and let the people know we're here for you.
- 20:00Speaker 4: This Palisades, it's not people.
- 20:03Speaker 5: It's like most of the people is not like you
- 20:06Speaker 5: and I there. You know, they are been there for
- 20:09Speaker 5: many years. It's three generations. It's huge homes. So most
- 20:14Speaker 5: staging companies don't have that kind of furniture. So we
- 20:17Speaker 5: put a package together and I personally took that on myself.
- 20:21Speaker 5: I went out and met with them. I brought my
- 20:23Speaker 5: stager and then we went out and helped them. And
- 20:27Speaker 5: we've been extremely busy, extremely busy, but you know, it's
- 20:31Speaker 5: nice to help and give back.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean you've done that for homeless people.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Did I read that or what is?
- 20:39Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 20:41Speaker 1: So tell me about it's interesting.
- 20:44Speaker 4: The Midnight Mission.
- 20:47Speaker 5: So the Midnight Mission, yeah, is a organization where people
- 20:52Speaker 5: come off the streets that were either using drugs or
- 20:56Speaker 5: you know, battered women or you know, just couldn't pay
- 21:01Speaker 5: their bills and they were living in their cars and
- 21:04Speaker 5: I got together with the president of it and he said,
- 21:08Speaker 5: I'd love for you to come and stage some you know, units,
- 21:13Speaker 5: And so I was like, okay, sure, I had no
- 21:15Speaker 5: idea what I was getting involved in at the time,
- 21:18Speaker 5: and I went.
- 21:19Speaker 4: And I staged these units out of the chills.
- 21:21Speaker 5: And literally I made them like cute and like, you know,
- 21:26Speaker 5: really light and colorful. And listen, these people were on
- 21:30Speaker 5: the streets. So when they come in, they don't even
- 21:32Speaker 5: know how to live anymore. But they the little kids
- 21:35Speaker 5: would come in and help me, and they were so excited,
- 21:38Speaker 5: and I knew that second I needed to continue. This's
- 21:43Speaker 5: so this year, every year we donate thousands and thousands
- 21:47Speaker 5: of dollars. We probably donated over half a million dollars
- 21:51Speaker 5: of inventory. But this year we got to donate to
- 21:55Speaker 5: a mom who has been on the streets and she
- 22:00Speaker 5: finally got into the program and she's learning how to
- 22:02Speaker 5: get a job again, she's learning how to they have childcare.
- 22:06Speaker 3: She just got a job at Amazon and she has
- 22:08Speaker 3: three kids. And you know, we were able to gift
- 22:11Speaker 3: her with when she transitions out of the transitional living,
- 22:15Speaker 3: she's going to get a new apartment. We're going to
- 22:16Speaker 3: furnish it for her. So that was really amazing.
- 22:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really so nice to see these people and
- 22:22Speaker 3: everything they're doing for themselves and bettering themselves to be
- 22:26Speaker 3: able to help. It's amazing.
- 22:27Speaker 1: It's got to feel good.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:28Speaker 1: And then all the people here that have lost everything.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Yeah, so I mean I can't help everyone, and unfortunately
- 22:36Speaker 5: we get calls all the time, you know, doing everything.
- 22:40Speaker 3: We can, but right now we're focused on furnishing rental
- 22:44Speaker 3: homes for people who are doing temporary living to find
- 22:47Speaker 3: a place to live because most of these people did
- 22:49Speaker 3: lose all of their belongings, clothes, I mean everything. So
- 22:54Speaker 3: you know, we're doing what we can to help everyone. Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 3: and yeah, it's it's a crazy time. I mean, if
- 22:59Speaker 3: you've I don't know if had you been to the
- 23:02Speaker 3: Polisades before.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I have been.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it just looks so different.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's very sad and yeah.
- 23:09Speaker 3: So you know, hopefully our community is strong and we'll
- 23:12Speaker 3: we'll figure it out.
- 23:14Speaker 1: What's a beautiful place, it's so beautiful. Yeah, I feel like,
- 23:17Speaker 1: you know, it'll come back for sure. But yeah, there's
- 23:20Speaker 1: so many families that have been there for generations, right.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's important that people know like that we
- 23:27Speaker 5: are a mother daughter team, and so when we're out there,
- 23:31Speaker 5: they remember that, you know, because we are a family
- 23:34Speaker 5: business and we want to help them. And I think that,
- 23:39Speaker 5: you know, living I've always lived in LA I've always
- 23:42Speaker 5: lived in California, and it's it's so nice to see
- 23:47Speaker 5: the community really coming together through all of this.
- 23:50Speaker 4: That's what I think.
- 23:51Speaker 5: I've the best thing out of everything that's happened in
- 23:54Speaker 5: the last you know.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Well, we reached out. We wanted moms across the country
- 23:59Speaker 1: to help here and in North Carolina where they also
- 24:03Speaker 1: living in tents right now the winter, so and do
- 24:07Speaker 1: what they can. But yeah, I really, you know, commend
- 24:10Speaker 1: you and and you're a good example. You know. What
- 24:13Speaker 1: happened here has made a lot of people think about
- 24:16Speaker 1: a lot of things, Like in Texas. I learned through
- 24:19Speaker 1: that experience that we're the third at risk city for wildfires.
- 24:24Speaker 1: So I talked to a girl whose family lost their
- 24:27Speaker 1: house at Palisades and she was talking about I had
- 24:29Speaker 1: She said, I had the flu and I've called my
- 24:33Speaker 1: mother caused me and I have to leave the house
- 24:34Speaker 1: because of the fire, and I have to decide what
- 24:36Speaker 1: to take. And she said in part she took the
- 24:38Speaker 1: wrong things because she said, I took my birth certificate
- 24:40Speaker 1: and searching for it you can get one really quick.
- 24:44Speaker 1: So it's also to explain to people to be ready,
- 24:48Speaker 1: like I know, if it were me, I don't know
- 24:49Speaker 1: what I would it would take. So yeah, no, that
- 24:52Speaker 1: was that was quite an experience. Well, we have some
- 24:55Speaker 1: ladies who would like to talk to you and ask
- 24:57Speaker 1: you some questions and they are ours mom, So why
- 25:01Speaker 1: do my mom?
- 25:02Speaker 5: Mom?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Welcome to the Mom's Club. Introduce I'm gonna introduce each
- 25:08Speaker 1: one of you and tell us a little bit about
- 25:10Speaker 1: yourself and if you'll all have questions, and I guess
- 25:14Speaker 1: I will start with because she'll be really quick because
- 25:17Speaker 1: she's she knows how it works here at the Mom's Club.
- 25:20Speaker 1: My usual co host, Julie, Welcome to the Mom's Club.
- 25:25Speaker 6: Well, hello Monica, Hello Julie, Ja, Hi Mom, Hi ladies.
- 25:31Speaker 6: Your story is amazing. I uh wanted to touch base
- 25:35Speaker 6: on figuring out like how many people work for you
- 25:39Speaker 6: as everybody involved in helping people with the fires. Are
- 25:42Speaker 6: you continuing your business obviously as well? I mean, what
- 25:47Speaker 6: does that look like?
- 25:50Speaker 4: You want to answer? Do you want me to yes?
- 25:53Speaker 4: We're continuing our business.
- 25:55Speaker 5: We run about six to seven trucks a day, so
- 25:58Speaker 5: we're doing staging, we're doing rentals, we're doing everything.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Yeah, we are so busy right now.
- 26:05Speaker 3: We've gotten an extra extra trucks that are dedicated to
- 26:08Speaker 3: furnishing our rentals. So we have like two separate aspects
- 26:11Speaker 3: of our company right now.
- 26:13Speaker 6: Yeah, and I know this won't surprise Monica, but I
- 26:15Speaker 6: do have a part two real quick.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That's sounds surprising, Go ahead, go for it.
- 26:19Speaker 6: I just want to know, like, first of all, congratulations
- 26:22Speaker 6: on being sober. I think that's thank you, very difficult
- 26:25Speaker 6: and amazing that you told your story. But how how
- 26:29Speaker 6: did it come to all three of you coming to
- 26:31Speaker 6: that same journey.
- 26:33Speaker 3: That's an interesting question. I think if I don't know
- 26:37Speaker 3: people who know anything about like addiction or everyone, I
- 26:42Speaker 3: don't think it. I don't know how excited, but like
- 26:44Speaker 3: it's not because she's sober. I had to get sober everyone.
- 26:49Speaker 3: It's like a mental we talk about I don't we
- 26:52Speaker 3: talk about it as like a mental obsession over right,
- 26:55Speaker 3: drugs or alcohol and there's many other things, so you
- 26:58Speaker 3: know it. Once she got sober, I think it set
- 27:01Speaker 3: a really good example for me, and I realized very
- 27:04Speaker 3: quickly after many bad instances. I'll say that I needed
- 27:09Speaker 3: to get sober, and I knew where to go, And
- 27:10Speaker 3: I think that was the biggest thing, is I knew
- 27:12Speaker 3: who to ask for help, and I was able to
- 27:14Speaker 3: ask her. And then my younger brother actually he was
- 27:18Speaker 3: partying like crazy in college and I had noticed it
- 27:21Speaker 3: for myself and I was able to have a conversation
- 27:23Speaker 3: with him and he knew where to come to get
- 27:24Speaker 3: sober as well. So I think the biggest thing is
- 27:26Speaker 3: knowing where to go to get help because a lot
- 27:28Speaker 3: of times, like if you normalize it, you really don't
- 27:31Speaker 3: know where to go.
- 27:32Speaker 5: And also when you get sober, your life just gets
- 27:35Speaker 5: better and better. I mean, they saw a huge difference
- 27:38Speaker 5: in me right and you know they're struggling. They're having fun,
- 27:43Speaker 5: but they're struggling. But when you get to that point,
- 27:45Speaker 5: you're drinking, and then it's not fun anymore.
- 27:48Speaker 4: They're like, God, does this get better?
- 27:50Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 27:51Speaker 4: And you know, I appreciate.
- 27:52Speaker 6: You sharing it because it gets brighter, it gets clearer.
- 27:55Speaker 6: So thank you.
- 27:57Speaker 1: And welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us a little
- 28:00Speaker 1: bit about yourself, and do you have a question.
- 28:03Speaker 9: Yeah, So my name is and Dynam. I'm a realtor
- 28:05Speaker 9: actually in the Marina, the Santa Monica, and you know,
- 28:12Speaker 9: I've also coached with Steve, so that was just a
- 28:16Speaker 9: small right and I'm one of those agents who got
- 28:20Speaker 9: the swan of people coming in after you know, the
- 28:24Speaker 9: fire and one thing that we've been and I have
- 28:27Speaker 9: one son, as you said, like, I'm also a mom,
- 28:29Speaker 9: so and he wants to do real essays. I'm taking
- 28:32Speaker 9: cues from is it going to be a good idea?
- 28:34Speaker 9: But it seems like it's going to be a good
- 28:36Speaker 9: idea to work with your whole child. So my question
- 28:39Speaker 9: is like one of the things that I'm actually dealing with,
- 28:42Speaker 9: I have a lot of leases and we're turning it
- 28:45Speaker 9: to short term rentals and most of the stages in
- 28:50Speaker 9: the area it's easier to stage to sell, but when
- 28:52Speaker 9: you stage because the person is going to live there,
- 28:54Speaker 9: it's been really challenging to find enough stages are willing
- 28:58Speaker 9: to do that. So in your business that your business
- 29:01Speaker 9: had to pivot from staging a property to be sold
- 29:05Speaker 9: to staging a property as a maybe short term or
- 29:09Speaker 9: leaster for people that had lost everything in the fires.
- 29:13Speaker 5: Well, first of all, I have a big company, so
- 29:17Speaker 5: we do rentals and we've done it for many years,
- 29:20Speaker 5: so this isn't like a new thing that I'm doing.
- 29:23Speaker 5: And we have an amazing team in the back end.
- 29:26Speaker 5: So basically the rentals work like this. It's one price
- 29:31Speaker 5: for the move in, the inventory and the pickup, and
- 29:35Speaker 5: then there's a security deposit.
- 29:36Speaker 4: And then there's a monthly.
- 29:38Speaker 5: And the great thing is I have an amazing team
- 29:41Speaker 5: that checks everything so everything comes clean and new, and
- 29:45Speaker 5: we just do it with furniture. We don't do the
- 29:47Speaker 5: accessories in the art and all of that, so that
- 29:50Speaker 5: that way they can because these people want to make
- 29:53Speaker 5: it their home. They don't want a stage home, right,
- 29:56Speaker 5: they want to make it their own. So I tell
- 29:58Speaker 5: them when I go out, do not don't need that.
- 30:00Speaker 5: You need to do that yourself so you can make
- 30:02Speaker 5: it your own place. And yeah, I buy containers all
- 30:07Speaker 5: over the world, so I'm ready at any time for anything,
- 30:11Speaker 5: so don't forget us.
- 30:13Speaker 1: And that's impressive to start from your garage to all
- 30:16Speaker 1: these trucks and places.
- 30:18Speaker 4: To thank you, I'm very impressed.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Allie, welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us a little
- 30:23Speaker 1: bit about yourself and do you have a question.
- 30:26Speaker 8: Yeah, so, hi everyone. I actually lived in the Palisades
- 30:31Speaker 8: for ten years and my kids were one of those
- 30:33Speaker 8: families that actually West their home. I'm in Calabasis now
- 30:38Speaker 8: and I am the founder of Youth Thrive Wellness, Inc.
- 30:44Speaker 8: I help bring in mindfulness and meditation and healing arts
- 30:48Speaker 8: to the schools and community. Great so and that's my
- 30:52Speaker 8: main I would say, I also do after school merichment programs,
- 30:56Speaker 8: but my love really is working with kids and parents
- 31:01Speaker 8: and teachers. And so my question, I think you know
- 31:05Speaker 8: right now, I feel like I'm manager transition from all
- 31:09Speaker 8: the after school programs I'm doing to like really focusing
- 31:12Speaker 8: on my nonprofit and putting all my energy into it.
- 31:16Speaker 8: And I heard you speak how it was just a
- 31:20Speaker 8: mindset like you just did it. And I sometimes have trouble,
- 31:24Speaker 8: like my mind is like, oh, you can't do that right,
- 31:27Speaker 8: Like it's it's so much.
- 31:29Speaker 4: So because you're stuck in the fear. You're stuck in
- 31:31Speaker 4: the fear. To get out of the fear, and you.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Need to write down everything that you want to do
- 31:36Speaker 5: and you just got to take one step at a time.
- 31:39Speaker 5: Don't stay in the fear. The fear is just an
- 31:41Speaker 5: emotion and won't get you anywhere. Like they were young,
- 31:45Speaker 5: I wanted them to stay in their live lifestyle. I
- 31:47Speaker 5: didn't want to have to move to a one bedroom apartment.
- 31:50Speaker 5: I knew this is what I had to do and
- 31:52Speaker 5: that's it, and that's how you have to stay.
- 31:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you can use your meditation tools as well. Like
- 31:57Speaker 3: some of the things that I do because I get
- 32:00Speaker 3: to fear a lot is I'll do like a meditation
- 32:02Speaker 3: hypnosis to get out of fear and into faith or
- 32:05Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it spirituality. And in order
- 32:08Speaker 3: to do that, you can, you know, change your mindset
- 32:10Speaker 3: to really you know, better yourself and focus on the
- 32:13Speaker 3: next step and the right next thing and the next
- 32:15Speaker 3: right action. And I think that that can help a
- 32:17Speaker 3: little bit as well.
- 32:19Speaker 4: Thank you, but you got this.
- 32:23Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Good luck to you.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Yeah, you're doing an amazing works.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that is that is very impressive. We have such
- 32:28Speaker 1: impressive Zoomer moms.
- 32:29Speaker 4: We always do.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I'm always impressed. Great, Kim, welcome to the Mom's Club.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Tell us a little bit about yourself and you have
- 32:35Speaker 1: a question.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:37Speaker 7: So my name is Kimberly. I have two little girls
- 32:40Speaker 7: and I resonated with your story a lot. I was
- 32:43Speaker 7: an entrepreneur for the last thirteen years I've had my
- 32:46Speaker 7: own business, but with having kids, it's it's just so
- 32:49Speaker 7: much harder, especially the age that mine are.
- 32:53Speaker 4: They're two and a half eight months. Wow.
- 32:56Speaker 7: So I guess I have two questions for you guys,
- 33:00Speaker 7: how did you keep the balance between work life and motherhood?
- 33:04Speaker 7: And then for Nicole, what made you decide that you
- 33:07Speaker 7: wanted to enter your mom's business?
- 33:09Speaker 3: Good?
- 33:09Speaker 4: Good question, Yeah, you go.
- 33:12Speaker 3: So, to be honest, I'd never thought I would work
- 33:15Speaker 3: for my mom or enter any type of design. I
- 33:17Speaker 3: actually went to school. I went to LMU, got a
- 33:20Speaker 3: bachelor's and journalism. I wanted to go into the news.
- 33:24Speaker 3: And during the pandemic, it was like a hard time
- 33:27Speaker 3: for everyone and she needed help in the warehouse and
- 33:30Speaker 3: I had really nothing to do. I was just getting sober.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I started working in the warehouse, counting the inventory, and
- 33:35Speaker 3: then I was like, just you know, I wanted to
- 33:37Speaker 3: do more. And I loved the environment, the work environment there.
- 33:42Speaker 3: It's a lot of like female empowerment, and I was
- 33:44Speaker 3: getting empowered myself, so you know, I just kind of
- 33:48Speaker 3: fell into it and I started really loving it growing up.
- 33:51Speaker 3: She we moved a lot. We moved every single year,
- 33:53Speaker 3: and she always had a different style in our house.
- 33:55Speaker 3: So I think I kind of picked up the design
- 33:57Speaker 3: style just like growing up. And you know, I started staging,
- 34:02Speaker 3: fell in love with it, and it was like no
- 34:05Speaker 3: question ever since. I just knew it was the right
- 34:07Speaker 3: thing to do.
- 34:08Speaker 5: That's awesome, Yeah, and I totally feel for you. I
- 34:12Speaker 5: know exactly what you're going through. Yeah, because my kids
- 34:17Speaker 5: are seventeen months apart, so it was very tough. But
- 34:21Speaker 5: you know what all I did was I worked until
- 34:25Speaker 5: three o'clock. I made and then I would pick them
- 34:28Speaker 5: up from school, take them to ballet, basketball, baseball, whatever
- 34:32Speaker 5: it is, made dinner.
- 34:34Speaker 4: And started again.
- 34:35Speaker 5: It was a again a mindset for me. I didn't
- 34:38Speaker 5: have a choice. I decided, you know what, I wanted
- 34:41Speaker 5: to be involved and I wanted to do this and
- 34:45Speaker 5: I even worked out and I had a great body
- 34:47Speaker 5: back then.
- 34:47Speaker 4: I don't know how I did that, but it's just.
- 34:51Speaker 5: You know, the I think the one of the things
- 34:54Speaker 5: that is really important is to give yourself grace. Give
- 34:58Speaker 5: yourself grace, like tell yourself you're amazing, you got this.
- 35:03Speaker 5: Like That's what I did every day, and I will
- 35:06Speaker 5: tell you I have an amazing life coach that got
- 35:09Speaker 5: me to stay on track. So I really believe, and
- 35:13Speaker 5: I'm telling all of you guys this. You know, at
- 35:16Speaker 5: fifty six years old, I've had a life coach or
- 35:19Speaker 5: two for many years because it helps me when I'm
- 35:23Speaker 5: going up here.
- 35:24Speaker 4: It helps me to stay on track.
- 35:26Speaker 5: It helps me to stay on track with my family,
- 35:29Speaker 5: with my stylists, with whatever it is in my life,
- 35:33Speaker 5: because you need someone else to talk to beside your
- 35:36Speaker 5: husband or your best friend or someone that is in that. Really,
- 35:41Speaker 5: I always say this, if that really has made the
- 35:45Speaker 5: difference in my life.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Did I also read that you do athletic you do kickboxing?
- 35:50Speaker 1: Is that correct?
- 35:52Speaker 7: Yes?
- 35:52Speaker 1: Wow, Now that takes a lot of fun.
- 35:55Speaker 4: That's where I get my aggression out. Yeah, I'm like, yes,
- 35:58Speaker 4: I got this, I got this.
- 36:00Speaker 2: That's really good advice for someone who's just starting their
- 36:04Speaker 2: career and trying to balance a bunch of things at adulthood.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Right right, Yeah.
- 36:09Speaker 2: I know, Nicole, You're you're not a mom yet, no,
- 36:12Speaker 2: thank god right now? And neither is Emily one of
- 36:18Speaker 2: our zoomer moms. So Emily, do you have another question
- 36:22Speaker 2: or a first question?
- 36:24Speaker 5: Yes?
- 36:24Speaker 3: Hello, I'm Emily.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I'm twenty three and I just graduated u CLA.
- 36:30Speaker 4: Congratulated questions. That's amazing, Thank you so much.
- 36:34Speaker 7: I guess I'm wondering what your favorite part of working
- 36:39Speaker 7: together and just your job in general is.
- 36:42Speaker 3: What's your favorite thing about it? That's a good question.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I would say my favorite part of working with my
- 36:48Speaker 3: mom is just that we have built such an amazing
- 36:53Speaker 3: thing together and just to see like that we've I
- 36:56Speaker 3: don't know, we've been able to like really grow the
- 36:58Speaker 3: company at least since I started here, right.
- 37:01Speaker 4: And respect.
- 37:02Speaker 5: We respect each other like crazy. I respect what she
- 37:06Speaker 5: brings to the company. She respect what I bring.
- 37:08Speaker 3: It's interesting. I think our relationship has gotten better since
- 37:11Speaker 3: we started working together because it is so challenging that
- 37:13Speaker 3: we've had to actually, like when we disagree with something,
- 37:16Speaker 3: which we're not always gonna agree with everything. We have
- 37:19Speaker 3: to learn to communicate in a way where we can
- 37:21Speaker 3: hear each other, and I think as family members, sometimes
- 37:23Speaker 3: you don't hear each other when you talk. So that's
- 37:25Speaker 3: been like the biggest thing that's actually changed our relationship
- 37:28Speaker 3: and it's pretty incredible. Yeah, and then just the job
- 37:32Speaker 3: itself is super fun. I mean staging homes. I get
- 37:35Speaker 3: to meet a lot of celebrities, a lot of cool
- 37:36Speaker 3: people that I look up to personally, and just style
- 37:39Speaker 3: their home. It's just such a fun experience.
- 37:41Speaker 1: So yeah, that's great. So do you advise all families
- 37:46Speaker 1: just to work together like me? No? Obviously not.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Now most family businesses don't work.
- 37:53Speaker 1: We're so impressive.
- 37:55Speaker 5: That's why I've worked really hard because I have a
- 37:57Speaker 5: lot of family business in my distance families, and I
- 38:01Speaker 5: was like, no, if I'm going to do this.
- 38:02Speaker 4: I'm going to do it right.
- 38:04Speaker 5: And also I want her to be successful. I want
- 38:06Speaker 5: her to be way more successful for me. I want
- 38:08Speaker 5: my son to be more successful than if. Whatever I
- 38:11Speaker 5: can teach them, I will. But you know, that's what
- 38:14Speaker 5: we're moms. We're here to guide, We're.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Here to be there.
- 38:17Speaker 5: We're here to sometimes get beat up on. I'm just kidding,
- 38:20Speaker 5: but it's you know. I mean, I can say I'm
- 38:25Speaker 5: super blessed. I mean, we went through a lot, but
- 38:28Speaker 5: I'm so blessed. I have amazing kids. They work very hard.
- 38:31Speaker 5: They have old school morals, so they don't work like
- 38:36Speaker 5: you know until four, they.
- 38:38Speaker 4: Work like I do.
- 38:40Speaker 5: They work a lot, but they love it. And that's
- 38:43Speaker 5: the difference. When you love something, you want to work
- 38:46Speaker 5: at it, and I do want to. Yeah, And it's
- 38:48Speaker 5: not a race. I want to tell you, it's not
- 38:49Speaker 5: a race to be an adult. Like take your time,
- 38:52Speaker 5: find what you love. Like I never thought she was
- 38:55Speaker 5: going to work with me. Maybe you will be working
- 38:57Speaker 5: with your mom, maybe you won't, but like, take time,
- 39:00Speaker 5: time and really honor what you want.
- 39:03Speaker 4: That's really important.
- 39:04Speaker 3: And can't you come from like a divorced family, which
- 39:06Speaker 3: I know is a lot. It was really inspiring. I
- 39:09Speaker 3: think for me and my brother, the reason we have
- 39:11Speaker 3: such a hard work ethic is because we saw my
- 39:13Speaker 3: mom and my dad honestly working so hard to support us,
- 39:16Speaker 3: Like it just gave us that mentality that, like, we
- 39:19Speaker 3: can do whatever we want. And then my mom's mindset
- 39:21Speaker 3: she definitely embedded into us from my early age as well. Well.
- 39:25Speaker 1: It sounds like you're very lucky that you've got a
- 39:28Speaker 1: awesome mom, an amazing mom, And good for you set
- 39:33Speaker 1: a good example because even when you got off the
- 39:35Speaker 1: wrong track a little bit, you set the example to
- 39:37Speaker 1: get everybody on the right track, which is what moms.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Because we're not perfect, none of it.
- 39:43Speaker 4: Nobody wrote a book.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I'm this close to perfect, but I'm not there yet either.
- 39:48Speaker 4: And it's a hard job. I mean, being a mom
- 39:51Speaker 4: is not easy, you know.
- 39:53Speaker 5: So congratulations to all the moms out the Absolutely, that's.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Why we're great.
- 39:58Speaker 5: This is amazing that you're doing so that moms have
- 40:01Speaker 5: somewhere to go. When I was pregnant, I had nowhere
- 40:03Speaker 5: to go. You know, there was no rule book or
- 40:06Speaker 5: book that even told me what to do. So congratulations, well.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. Well where can they? Where can
- 40:12Speaker 1: our listeners find you all in your podcast and your business?

- 40:49Speaker 1: and thank you Zoomer moms. You were all tremendous yea,
- 40:52Speaker 1: and thank.
- 40:53Speaker 3: You for your questions.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Thank you, Georgia. You know you got a special honor
- 40:57Speaker 1: your mother has never gotten before, which is to introduce
- 41:00Speaker 1: one of the Zoomer moms. So don't tell her that she's,
- 41:03Speaker 1: you know, because then she'll start making demands on men.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I'm not sure that I'm really quite ready for that.
- 41:07Speaker 1: We want to thank our sponsors, the Beaman Hotel, which
- 41:11Speaker 1: has been amazing. They have hosted events for us in Dallas.
- 41:15Speaker 1: We've had Mom's Club events, which we're going to do
- 41:17Speaker 1: all over the country Tennessee, Nashville, Colorado. We've got big
- 41:22Speaker 1: plans for them. And they're events that we have where
- 41:25Speaker 1: moms come together and get to know each other and
- 41:29Speaker 1: then the local vendors and people make donations and there's
- 41:33Speaker 1: some great prizes there. I actually did try to win
- 41:36Speaker 1: some at the last event, but I got caught, so
- 41:38Speaker 1: I'm not allowed to do that. But they're great prizes,
- 41:41Speaker 1: which is why you absolutely want to come to those.
- 41:43Speaker 1: And we also want to thank our sponsor, Newcom, which
- 41:47Speaker 1: I'll tell you Newcom has saved my relationship with your
- 41:50Speaker 1: mother because it's an app that you use to sleep
- 41:55Speaker 1: better and reduce your stress and focus. I mean, it's
- 41:59Speaker 1: a great app and if you're interested and you want
