Transcript
- 0:13Hi, good afternoon. Welcome Miller and Condon.
- 0:16On our Wednesday, we welcome you to the Iowa Sports Radio
- 0:19Network. We're talking sports with you
- 0:22over the next couple of hours. Whether you're joining us on Des
- 0:24Moines sports station One O 6.3, KXNO, the Iowa Sports Radio
- 0:28Network, all are fine affiliates throughout the state or anywhere
- 0:30in the I heart. I'm glad you are with us for the
- 0:33next couple of hours. Here's what's coming up on our
- 0:35program. Elliot Clough is going to join
- 0:37us. hawkeyeinsider.com going to go over all of the kick off
- 0:41times that were released. Whoops 2:00 Unbelievable.
- 0:45I thought we had them this morning.
- 0:46I thought so. I really did.
- 0:48Year after year after year. It's in morning, it's in
- 0:50morning. Yep. 2:00 So the boys in the
- 0:53afternoon catch another another break programming wise.
- 0:58So we will speculate. Yes, this.
- 1:00Is what we're going to hear coming up at 2:00.
- 1:03But I guess for everybody, all the first three weeks of college
- 1:07football, those games will be released and then we go to that
- 1:11week by week and some days the six day hold and you know all of
- 1:15the parameters when it comes to college football and scheduling.
- 1:18But Elliot Cleff is going to join us at 12:30.
- 1:22Cappy's going to be here. This should be fun.
- 1:24The Cubs are in the midst of a 10 game skid.
- 1:27We'll pick Cappy's brain on how he thinks, if he thinks that
- 1:30this team can find a way out of it or what needs to change in
- 1:34order for them to do so. The Pirates absolutely
- 1:37embarrassed them last night, but Craig Council got tossed when it
- 1:40was 12 to one in the ninth inning.
- 1:43I'm not sure what message that sends or not, but Council, I
- 1:47think it's part of the problem. Anyways, Cappy coming up at 1:00
- 1:51and then we're going to talk. I thought that the Fever played
- 1:54the Valkyries tonight. It's tomorrow, but doesn't
- 1:57matter. We're still going to preview the
- 1:58game and do a little Fever conversation, WNBA conversation
- 2:02with our friend Scott Agnes who covers the league and covers the
- 2:05Fever. We'll do that at 1:30.
- 2:08Tip off time tomorrow night for that game is 9:00.
- 2:11It is on prime. And no hockey tomorrow night as
- 2:14there's just going to be one NBA game.
- 2:16There's no NBA tonight. There's one hockey game.
- 2:19We're coming to the end of this TC.
- 2:21The winter sports are getting closer to crowning their
- 2:24champions. Well, it is almost summers.
- 2:25Well, it is, yeah. It would be nice for them, yeah,
- 2:28to get things wrapped up. But yeah, spread out that
- 2:30calendar as much as possible. We'll definitely take that and
- 2:33looking forward to seeing Game 4 coming up this evening with the
- 2:36Hurricanes in Montreal and just that scene.
- 2:38You've talked about it a ton. It's special, it's different,
- 2:41and if you're casual or maybe you're just not a big hockey
- 2:44person, take a gander tonight. Dip your toe in this one.
- 2:47Yeah, I think it'd be a great game.
- 2:48The last two have gone to overtime.
- 2:49They're evenly matched and and Montreal just elevates it.
- 2:53It truly does. Just the experience alone.
- 2:56I'm glad I've been out there a couple of times.
- 2:57I think 3 times have been able to get there and that was a no
- 2:59no as a kid. Yeah, Oh yeah, it.
- 3:01Was that was not a big fan of the French.
- 3:05Ah yes, and it was a very divisive.
- 3:08Well, it wasn't we we saw it his way, right?
- 3:12But and for whatever, we never thought about vacation in
- 3:14Montreal or not that we were vacation family by any means.
- 3:18We had a cabin, so that's where we would go and get on the rope
- 3:21swing. And my childhood was a Mountain
- 3:23Dew commercial for crying out. It was it was a blast, but I saw
- 3:27Montreal for the first time as blown away.
- 3:30Anyways, he came around later in life, but fun experience
- 3:33tonight. So that's our program.
- 3:35Ted Trent will make some plays of the day.
- 3:36How did yesterday go for you? 4:00 and 2:00.
- 3:39Another good day. We'll take it.
- 3:40Did your props hit? For the most part.
- 3:42What did we hit yesterday? Let's see, you had two.
- 3:44Strikeout props I. Remember, we actually went, we
- 3:47had three, OK. Or two, yes.
- 3:49And we hit Schlitter. He went over 5 1/2.
- 3:52Harrison only had two, though, did he?
- 3:53Yeah. Which was weird because he'd
- 3:55been striking out like 8-9 guys in a game.
- 3:57We hit Jordan Alvarez over needed over 1 1/2 bases.
- 4:01He had eight. Really.
- 4:03That helps. We hit the Nationals on the
- 4:06money line plus 1/22 and the Thunder last night, so four and
- 4:10two will keep stacking them up. When you watch the game last
- 4:14night, the NBA game and I, I thought I was going to watch
- 4:18more. It was such a boring game.
- 4:20Well, it was boring because one team was just dominating, with
- 4:22the exception of the first quarter.
- 4:24The first quarter was good. I mean, I thought the Spurs
- 4:25couldn't miss early and it was going to be a A game and it
- 4:29turned out not to be. And by the end of the first 12
- 4:32minutes, OKC had taken the lead and they were on their way.
- 4:35But it was got. I mean, Chad Holmgren got got
- 4:39him credit because he's been one of the poster child for
- 4:42underachieving players and, and, and Jared McCain stepping up
- 4:47and, and, and doing what he did last night.
- 4:49By God, he was good. 20 points for him.
- 4:52But maybe Chet Holmgren was as big of a story last night as
- 4:55anything. I think so his emergency,
- 4:58because if you look forward and even if the Thunder advances,
- 5:00they're now prohibited favorites to do against the Knicks.
- 5:04It can't just be SGA. They're not beating the way this
- 5:07Knicks team is playing. They're not beating the Knicks
- 5:09with one guy. Totally agree with you.
- 5:10And even the way that they play and the style and all that, they
- 5:12need Chet Holgren to be the guy that we saw last night.
- 5:15And that certainly was not the case in the first four games of
- 5:18the series. But I thought there were a
- 5:19couple of things early. Spurs jump out to lead.
- 5:22All right, that's nice. Champenny was nuts.
- 5:24I mean just hitting three pointers all over the place.
- 5:26After another, yeah. But it was right after the
- 5:29Thunder, all right? Kind of got their legs
- 5:31underneath them a little bit, got it back to basically even.
- 5:35And there are a couple of plays in the second quarter.
- 5:36Remember Vassal just missing a wide open layup?
- 5:38It was, yeah, I do. I do.
- 5:41How does that happen to the NBA? Right.
- 5:43This isn't Jack right at a breakaway.
- 5:47It's still maybe a 5050 proposition.
- 5:50This is an NBA player with nobody around it.
- 5:53I I one of the most baffling things.
- 5:55But as soon as you see. That a lot, though, and guys are
- 5:58usually get not a lot, but not with this he this case, he was
- 6:00why all by himself. But you see guys that have an an
- 6:03open lane to the basket that miss and you get that clean up.
- 6:07You know, then that one of his teammates coming and saw that a
- 6:09couple of times last night. But I don't know.
- 6:12I I hope it's not over, but man, it sure seems like it's over.
- 6:17I love the Spurs in Game 6. I hope.
- 6:19Maybe it's just hopeful. I hope you're right.
- 6:21Not a Thunder fan BI enjoy the Spurs team.
- 6:25I do too. Most importantly, I want to see
- 6:26a Game 7. I do too.
- 6:28Saturday night. Yep, bring it on.
- 6:30That would be excellent to be able to get that two young
- 6:32teams, two teams that are going to be part of our lives for a
- 6:34long time, I think going forward, and to get that
- 6:38opportunity to get that in a playoff.
- 6:40Overall, the NBA has been OK. Not yeah, I mean, it's not the
- 6:45NHL. No, the NHL is far surpassed it.
- 6:49And again, I'm biased, but I think I could put that aside
- 6:51because, you know, if you watch the games, I think you see the
- 6:54same thing I'm seeing it's and look, if they're still, they're
- 6:58still obviously a championship series.
- 7:00And I can't. I look, I think the Knicks are
- 7:02going to give whoever it is a series.
- 7:04Right there with. You, I really do.
- 7:05And I'm, you know what? I think I'd find myself pulling
- 7:08for the Knicks just because I think these two teams from the
- 7:10West, whoever it is, they're not going to where, as you said,
- 7:13you're right, they're going to be back.
- 7:15I, I don't know if that's the same for the Knicks.
- 7:17It's just New York, right? It's been since the 70s, for
- 7:20crying out loud, 73 or 7474. I think since they won a
- 7:24championship, that building would be packed.
- 7:27It is a special place. Madison Square Garden is I, I
- 7:30loved it. I'm so glad that I, I checked
- 7:32that box in my life. It's a really cool venue and
- 7:36it's New York. And it's special and you hear
- 7:39New Yorkers talk about it and when the Knicks are good in the
- 7:42springtime and the seasons changing and everything and, and
- 7:45just how different the city it's, it's a buzz.
- 7:47Let's see, let's see a couple of outsiders.
- 7:50How do you? How do you?
- 7:51Think New York sports fans, and I know this is every there's
- 7:55going to be a lot of different ways we could go what's the most
- 7:59popular team in New York is it the Yankees then the Knicks I.
- 8:05That's difficult because without knowing really what the city is
- 8:09like, because you do have the Mets there.
- 8:10You do, right? And that is a portion.
- 8:12And even if it's 2/3 versus 1/3 or whatever it is.
- 8:16There's more Giants fans than Jets fans, right?
- 8:18But there are there is that you know allotment percentage of
- 8:23Jets fan. The Rangers are popular.
- 8:26But you also have the Islanders. Because you have the Islanders.
- 8:29I I would love to know what, what new, how New York fans kind
- 8:34of rank their fandom, if you will, in the city.
- 8:37I think I think it'd be. Closer than you think.
- 8:40I think the Yankees, because of the national perception, maybe
- 8:44change. And the championships.
- 8:45Yes, the way that we look at them because of where we are
- 8:48compared to maybe how New Yorkers overall, and I don't
- 8:51know, it's a really good question.
- 8:52I think probably the next number #1 though I wonder there's no
- 8:55Nets fans. No, no.
- 8:57Not very many, no. At minimum, right.
- 8:59It's, I think, different than the fracture that you have in
- 9:02the other sports for New York, in comparison, the Knicks are
- 9:05just different. Yeah.
- 9:06And 1973 by the way. Is it 73?
- 9:09Yeah. Is it?
- 9:10But it do. Do we have the right the first
- 9:122? Is it Yankees?
- 9:13Knicks. I think so.
- 9:15Too. I think so too, but it's so
- 9:17hard. Hey, we're sitting in Des
- 9:21Moines. We're crying out loud and I'm
- 9:23like, I've been there a bunch of times, but I don't know how the
- 9:26fans feel about how they rank their teams.
- 9:29And then, you know, what would what would be a method that we
- 9:33would go about it? We could remove the biases.
- 9:35I don't think you possibly can. Well, we're headed in that
- 9:38direction seemingly. OK, see right now in the
- 9:41driver's seat and they will get the Knicks who will wait.
- 9:44And I'm sure if you're a Knicks fan or your Knicks player, they
- 9:47were. You're hoping this thing does go
- 9:48seven games. Let's get Thunder Joe in here.
- 9:51You had to like last night. Joe, how are you?
- 9:54I, you know, OK, good afternoon, Ken.
- 9:56I did like last night and I'm not a big fan of the theatrics.
- 10:00I just I can't it's I love the NBA.
- 10:02It's tough. I don't know if they need to
- 10:04hire some guy to watch every game at the end of each game and
- 10:08start handing out and start handing out like every every 20
- 10:10you get a quarter suspension, 42 quarters, you know, and so on.
- 10:14He's here. I'm going with that.
- 10:16Two things here real quick. I think Alex Caricio is the
- 10:19Western Conference MVP and I don't know if they win, they win
- 10:23the series. I think it's a travesty if he
- 10:25does not get it. I wonder what he was prior to
- 10:27the series to be the Western Conference MVP.
- 10:30Do you have any idea what he was?
- 10:31Bree before the playoffs started.
- 10:34No, but I wish I could have that back in the future Almanacs and
- 10:38I think I think the Knicks are the most popular team in New
- 10:41York and I've got a theory. OK.
- 10:44Yankees and Mets fans hate each other.
- 10:46Jets and Giants fans hate each other.
- 10:49Nobody cares about the Nets. Islanders and Rangers fans hate
- 10:53each other. But they all love them.
- 10:55But they all love the Knicks. Yeah, I think you're probably
- 10:58right, Joe. I think you're probably right.
- 11:00Who do you want? Do you think it's going to be a
- 11:03series? If it if we do get OKC in the
- 11:05Knicks, we're trying to make it a series.
- 11:07I think it's going to be. Do you think it will be?
- 11:11Well, I'll give my unbiased opinion and it's going to sound
- 11:13biased. It's going to come down to
- 11:15depth. We've known this for two years.
- 11:17We talked about it last year. I think.
- 11:19I don't know if the layoffs going to hurt the Knicks come
- 11:22game one like it did the Panther, Carolina, Panthers,
- 11:25like it did the Thunder. I mean, you sit, but it's going
- 11:29to come down to depth. And when a team like Oklahoma
- 11:31City can hit you wave after wave.
- 11:33Hell, Jared McCain would have won Rookie of the year last year
- 11:36had he not got hurt and they fleeced and they fleeced the
- 11:38Sixers. He's coming off the bench,
- 11:41although he although he didn't start last night.
- 11:43He last started last night. Yeah, Yeah.
- 11:45But. He was great come down to yeah.
- 11:48Yep. Thanks, Joe.
- 11:49I appreciate the call. And I and I think you're right.
- 11:51And I, I think that's good reasoning behind it.
- 11:53Just the hatred that the fan bases have for the team that
- 11:57they share the city with, you know, McCain was unbelievable.
- 12:00So I started messing around just trying to, you know, because I I
- 12:03thought I'd like the Knicks, Knicks, Knights, and then found
- 12:07I think the Yankees are going to prevail.
- 12:09OK. And I think the Brewers are a
- 12:11free square and they're not that much overwhelming favorite.
- 12:14The Brewers are a free square. I Who's going to beat them?
- 12:19Cups. No, no, I'm not so sure.
- 12:22They finished in the top two. Who Trent, they're pitching is
- 12:26just, I mean, it's just decimated.
- 12:28And what they did last night, I mean, how embarrassing.
- 12:31But you have no other options. You trot Wicks out there and
- 12:34then he's got to wear it. Gives up five in the 1st and
- 12:36sorry, you just got to keep going.
- 12:38Back out there. Because we don't want to tax his
- 12:40bullpen anymore. You're throwing Palencia because
- 12:43you got to get him some work. Tyone's been going to be asked
- 12:46today to stop A10 game losing. Streak.
- 12:49I don't think there's a free square though.
- 12:52I feel really good about it and it's and it's not that over.
- 12:56You don't have to lay a ton of money.
- 12:57I mean, the Cardinals are a nice story.
- 12:58The the Brewers crushed him last night.
- 13:01I'm anxious to see this game today because of the history
- 13:03onics at the end. Did you see the relief pitcher
- 13:05for the Brewers? I did doing the DX suck.
- 13:08It What was he thinking? And good for Pat Murphy nipping
- 13:13that in the buds. That's not how we do things
- 13:15here. And apparently they reached out
- 13:16to the Cardinals and apologized to them as well.
- 13:19I guess maybe trying to get ahead of what was going to
- 13:22happen today. There's going to be some balls
- 13:23coming in right high and tight. And I'm still not so sure that
- 13:26that's not going to be the case today.
- 13:29But I just think the Brewers are just so much better, at least at
- 13:32this point. And again, we're 1/3 of the way
- 13:35through the regular season, right?
- 13:3650 something games into it. So about 1/3 of the way through,
- 13:40they've taken the lead. The Cubs have have They can't
- 13:44hit. They can't pitch.
- 13:46It's not a good combo. It's not a good combo.
- 13:48They got gloves. Yeah, most nights.
- 13:52Most nights, by the way, I heard.
- 13:55I think we shot this PC AAA. Had you heard of that nickname?
- 13:59I hadn't heard that till this morning until they said it.
- 14:01I peed my pants. That's a pretty good one.
- 14:03It is GPC AAA, so they haven't won since.
- 14:07Since White Sox Bride and PC AAA got into it.
- 14:11I guess the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern died the last day
- 14:14the Cubs won a game. Really.
- 14:16And they haven't won sense. Another curse.
- 14:19Another curse. It lives.
- 14:22We'll see, but I but I like the Brewers.
- 14:24I think the Brewers are going to prevail.
- 14:25Anxious to talk to Kathy about that.
- 14:27Coming up at 12:15. All right, since we won't get
- 14:30the Television times, you thought yesterday that the
- 14:35Seihawk game is going to be a 630 kick.
- 14:38Yes. Lucas says you're wrong.
- 14:41Well, Lucas is wrong. He says it's 2:30.
- 14:43CBS. He's wrong.
- 14:45I saw where he saw that. He saw it on Twitter.
- 14:47Did he I? Don't know.
- 14:49I saw somebody on Twitter that had it.
- 14:51No, I've heard both doctor men with us yesterday.
- 14:54Yeah, he did say that. He what did he?
- 14:55I think he said you're going to have to wait most of the day for
- 14:59the game. Yes, something I'm paraphrasing,
- 15:01but that was the. Gist of it, Tom Caker from
- 15:03Hawkeye Report has speculated the same.
- 15:06I believe it's going to be a night game and that's good.
- 15:09I agree with you. The most ridiculous tailgate
- 15:13environment I've ever seen. It was the 2002 game.
- 15:16Oh. My God. 5:00 kick. 5:00 kick.
- 15:19It was obviously Iowa State in the midst of the winning streak
- 15:22that they built up up to six. It continued there.
- 15:25A great game. Great game. 24/7 lead for Iowa
- 15:28at the half. Yep, Iowa State comes roaring
- 15:30back. Yep, Brad Banks gets his hand
- 15:32wrapped too tight and fumbles the ball twice.
- 15:34Fall apart. Iowa State comes charging back.
- 15:37Seneca was outstanding. He's a Heisman contender.
- 15:39It wasn't the time till Oklahoma.
- 15:41That was also a game that I dropped my wallet in the student
- 15:47section. Oh, good, yes.
- 15:50So I get up, I make my way from downtown area to the stadium,
- 15:58hoping maybe because I got to the bar that night, no wallet,
- 16:03couldn't get back in all right. But he's floating B20 and back
- 16:07then that was enough to get through the night and
- 16:11everything's locked up not getting there.
- 16:13But the walk from downtown to get to the stadium is unlike
- 16:18anything I've ever seen. It was just looked like there
- 16:22was prayer post post game. This is Sunday morning and it
- 16:26looked like Obama got off. It was awful.
- 16:31This also led to in the closing of the old field house lot that
- 16:35is now. And that was behind it?
- 16:37Or was that the last straw? No, but this was, this was bad.
- 16:41I mean, there was, there's a parking structure there.
- 16:43People are up there like 5 floors up and they got a beer
- 16:46bong that's going all the way down.
- 16:47I mean, it was an incredible party, a very fun scene, but it
- 16:52went to the NTH degree. That's what happens with night
- 16:55kick offs now I don't think. We've had somewhat, we've had a
- 17:00night kickoff subsequent to that.
- 17:02Yeah, we had the rain delay that turned into a night kickoff, or
- 17:05I guess it kicked off before that but ended under the lights.
- 17:08There's been a few, but take me back because you're in the
- 17:12middle of it here. I was in the middle of it as a
- 17:14student. That time in 2002.
- 17:18Losing streak ends at 15. Iowa State's taking control.
- 17:22They're having success. Iowa is building.
- 17:26Did the the hate feel bigger at that time?
- 17:29You know what it did? I think it's this is how I
- 17:32remember for a couple of times, a couple of things.
- 17:34A because I would say basketball was good.
- 17:36It it to me was the at the time, the high watermark for Cyclone
- 17:42athletics. It seemed like they'd finally
- 17:44gotten over the hump and beat quote, I'll say it, Big Brother
- 17:52and it just felt different. I remember that we put a cyclone
- 17:56show on the air. We did because there there was a
- 18:00there was a market for it and we're sponsorship behind it.
- 18:03It just it, it just felt different that that I was dated
- 18:07leveled the playing field after being well, I look, I, I got
- 18:10here in 89. It was I, I I I, I was.
- 18:13Yes, it was. Yes, Yeah.
- 18:15And, and some people, younger people think we're crazy.
- 18:18I I told you where I grew up, Iowa State was not a thing
- 18:21outside of a couple of farming families.
- 18:23That was it. We had this thing in elementary
- 18:26school, every side hawk week, Mr. Mayor would put up two big
- 18:30pieces of poster board and he'd write your name and the score on
- 18:35what side it was. And it would be, I don't know
- 18:37how much school probably had, what, 4 grades, probably 400
- 18:39kids. And there would be 380 on the
- 18:42Iowa side and there'll be about 20 on the Iowa State side.
- 18:46And it's not to be flippant. It's not me being Ariel Hawkeye
- 18:49fan. It's the reality.
- 18:50It was from WHO to the Iowa Television Network and what that
- 18:54turned into for back. Yes, those were the things that
- 18:59just made it a statewide phenomenon.
- 19:02Well, I'll, I'll, I'll throw this in too, because as a, as a
- 19:05rank out a total outsider. I was at Prairie Meadows and we,
- 19:09we were done racing and you know, a little bonding group.
- 19:12We went to Kinnick and we went to Jack Trice that same season.
- 19:18Buses, bus loads of us, right, bus loads of Prairie Meadows and
- 19:20probably just doing a, a company outing thing.
- 19:23I got to Kinnick. There's a holy mackerel.
- 19:26Right. It's a stadium.
- 19:27It's really cool. What a neat.
- 19:29I kind of started to, I was starting to grasp college sports
- 19:34because at that time I hadn't college sports rhyme From his
- 19:36family and friends and girlfriends, period.
- 19:39Nobody cares. Nobody cares.
- 19:41And then I got to Jack Trice later on in the year.
- 19:43I was like in a pasture. I was literally in a.
- 19:46Now, I might have been AI don't know where we were.
- 19:48I know we were South of the stadium 'cause I can remember
- 19:53the park there was, but we were in like a field and a Kinnock.
- 19:56I felt like it was just elevated.
- 19:59Yeah. So I had that preconception, I
- 20:03guess planted at 89, but it was just Iowa, Iowa, Iowa, Iowa.
- 20:07But Fast forward to when McCartney finally, and I'll
- 20:11never forget his khaki pants. I mean, he sweated right through
- 20:14them, right? That's the thing that sticks
- 20:16with me about that streak finally coming to an end.
- 20:18And then they kept winning, and then they kept winning.
- 20:20And there were seemingly more Iowa State fans.
- 20:24I don't know where they were, not that they weren't hiding,
- 20:26but they, they weren't necessarily wearing their
- 20:29cardinal and gold on their sleeve.
- 20:31Like very quickly they, they, they began to do so.
- 20:34And then it all changed when Paul had put up the billboards.
- 20:37And that was so damn good for business.
- 20:39I mean, it was what a what a time to be doing talk radio.
- 20:43What a time we had God, it was fun and just the Hawkeye fans in
- 20:49disbelief right that some guy was going to do this and do it
- 20:53over in Eastern. I will not nerve the gulf and it
- 20:56was thank you Jamie Pollard. This thing just took a a toll
- 20:59new turn and went to a whole new level.
- 21:02The vitriol online is as ugly as it's ever.
- 21:04Well, and that that's true. Don't forget that was preceding
- 21:07message boards or if message. Boards were a thing.
- 21:09They were a. Thing but nowhere near the The
- 21:13first message board I remember was I couldn't believe Hawkeye
- 21:15fans were so mean to Kyle McCann.
- 21:19I mean, good God, that's your quarterback.
- 21:21AS 2001 two. 1001 I hope he's not seeing this 'cause I, it's
- 21:26not that I was thin skinned, but I'd never seen this part of it.
- 21:29I mean, you get toughened in this job, right, Right.
- 21:32But yeah, that's just the the whole message boards thing.
- 21:35So I can imagine what the vitro and and today it's just.
- 21:39But that's also that's different too from message boards to
- 21:42social media, because for a lot of them, they're hiding behind a
- 21:46screen name. It's not you, no.
- 21:49And the interactions. But this also might be just age
- 21:51too, where I'm aging and probably don't kind of fly quite
- 21:55at the level that I once did. But I don't see that tailgating.
- 22:00Yes, go buy an Cy Hawk game and you'll see some people
- 22:04bickering, you'll see some hollering.
- 22:06There might be a fight or two. Pre or post fight?
- 22:09No, I'm talking about now. Right, but pregame or post game
- 22:12fight either OK. But it felt more prevalent at
- 22:17that time. It was little brother getting
- 22:20their wind underneath. They got a little something to
- 22:23lungs down and they're going to shout back.
- 22:25And after having to take it for the last 15 years.
- 22:27Right, we're here. It's built up.
- 22:29And it just feels different. And maybe because people also
- 22:33have the outlets now, they can do that and he can our message
- 22:37do it on. Our message boards as active as
- 22:40they would because we have Twitter and we have all those
- 22:43other outlets. Are they still as active?
- 22:45Probably not. I wouldn't think so, right?
- 22:48In the pre Twitter era, right, That was all that there was.
- 22:51You go back to the heyday, like of the mid aughts, like old 5 to
- 22:552010. That kind of feels like the
- 22:56sweet spot, doesn't it? I think it does when message
- 22:59boards were really blown up all across and were huge everywhere
- 23:02and it didn't matter where it was.
- 23:04And you still see them all over the place, but then still
- 23:06frequent some of them from time to time.
- 23:08Usually just Halo, but that's enough for me.
- 23:11It's it's fun interactions. It's still behind the screen,
- 23:16but yeah, Twitter and Facebook and Facebook and Facebook for
- 23:19your generation. Yeah.
- 23:20I don't go on it. Thank God.
- 23:22Yeah, You know what? I it's so bad.
- 23:25I think most people have at least sampled Facebook, right?
- 23:27Yeah. I'm so glad I haven't.
- 23:29Yeah, I it's never. I mean, I don't know.
- 23:31I don't know why I didn't, but I didn't.
- 23:33And I've no desire to to catch up what I've missed.
- 23:36All right, 1225 Elliott Clef is coming up.
- 23:39We will, I guess, speculate as to what we think we're going to
- 23:41get for kickoff times. We'll get the whole college
- 23:44football slate unveiled to us coming up at apparently 2O clock
- 23:49is when is now when it is anticipated to drop.
- 23:52So if you're sitting on pins and needles as far as kick off time,
- 23:55obviously the one we want to find out most of all is Psy
- 23:58Hawk. And we'll see if indeed it is
- 24:00NBC at 6:30. I hope it is.
- 24:05Yes, I hope it is. Do you know what the competition
- 24:08is that day as far as big games? I do.
- 24:10I had the list up here and we'll bring up the Big 10 football
- 24:15schedule for 2026. How about how about the entire
- 24:19slate do? You have, well, that doesn't
- 24:21really matter because it's going to be a Big 10 broadcast game.
- 24:23Right, But what will it go up against?
- 24:25What will? OK, I get what you're saying.
- 24:27Well, this is what they're working against in the Big 10.
- 24:29Let's start there. That's how I can simplify
- 24:32things. Here I see.
- 24:32OK, Where you going? I see where you going.
- 24:34So already announced 11:00 Big Noon kickoff is Oklahoma at
- 24:38Michigan. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:40Already also announced 630 Texas hosting Ohio State.
- 24:44Wow, yeah. And who's got that?
- 24:46That is on ABC. Holy mackerel.
- 24:48So selfishly, 230 would be better just as a fan.
- 24:51Yeah, because you're not beating that.
- 24:52Just a college football fan. That that game will will win the
- 24:56night. Right.
- 24:57Other games, though, that potentially could have something
- 25:01to do in those other good windows from the Big 10,
- 25:05Mississippi State at Minnesota, SEC versus Big 10 potentially.
- 25:11Kind of sounds like a Thursday night game on BT Doesn't
- 25:14Minnesota always start the year on on Thursday?
- 25:16Night. They do.
- 25:17They do. Yeah, because of the state.
- 25:18Yeah. For the State Fair.
- 25:19No, this is remember, this is week two.
- 25:20Yeah, this is week. Right, right, right.
- 25:22Yeah. Morgan's at Oklahoma State, but
- 25:25that falls under the Big 12 purview, so that'll be that one.
- 25:29San Diego State's at UCLAA, decent game.
- 25:32Feels like FS1 at 9:00 though, doesn't it?
- 25:34Or BTN at 9:00 with that one. Not a whole lot else.
- 25:38Bowling Green goes over to Huskerland, Nobody cares.
- 25:41Nobody's going to be real fired up that.
- 25:43Stat that Doc threw out yesterday about all the Big 10
- 25:46teams that would have made the playoff with the exception of
- 25:49Rutgers. Marilyn Perdue and Nebraska.
- 25:55That floored me. That's the company that they
- 25:57keep. That is the company that they
- 25:58keep. You love that.
- 26:00I do. I was just.
- 26:02He's right. Other big games that weekend.
- 26:05OK, let's see what else we have. I'm looking at teams that are
- 26:09ranked. Tennessee's at Georgia Tech.
- 26:11No, Georgia Tech doesn't move the needle.
- 26:14Alabama at Kentucky, we do get an SEC game that might be ABC
- 26:182:30 for that one. I could see that.
- 26:22Not a whole lot else as I continue to scroll through here.
- 26:26Arizona State at A&M. OK, that's decent.
- 26:29Yeah, that's not too bad. That's not too bad.
- 26:32Texas Tech at Oregon State. Not really, by the way.
- 26:35That's about it. Texas Tech's president?
- 26:37Did you see him go to bat for Soresby?
- 26:42I did not. Oh my God.
- 26:45I saw the that the NCAA said no, right?
- 26:48As it should be. Now they're appealing,
- 26:50obviously. And this Texas Tech quarterback,
- 26:53our our, our president rather going to to bat for his
- 26:56quarterback. OK.
- 26:58I mean, it's it's nice. I want to believe that it's just
- 27:01because you feel for the kid. Would you be doing this for the
- 27:04long snapper? Nope.
- 27:07They don't have a quarterback. They don't have a quarterback.
- 27:10Until Hammond's healthy. Until Hammond's healthy and and
- 27:13how healthy is going to be, but just that they're going to
- 27:16appeal. We're keeping his look, he's
- 27:18sick. There's no getting around.
- 27:20Sarsby's got a disease. When you're sitting in
- 27:22Cincinnati, you're betting pitch after pitch after pitch.
- 27:25You're you've got a problem. He's betting a buck.
- 27:27But he's still betting. I mean, he's not even looking at
- 27:30the you're not even looking at the field.
- 27:32You've got a Major League Baseball game in front of you
- 27:35and you've got your hand on your phone.
- 27:36If you're betting every pitch, that's sick.
- 27:38This is where I struggle with this and why I really Maybe I'm
- 27:44becoming jaded. As soon as this happened,
- 27:47everything went down. He's going to rehab.
- 27:50Yep, great, wonderful for him. Yep, absolutely.
- 27:53He needs the help. And that's part of the argument
- 27:55for the from the Texas Tech president.
- 27:58But also it was stated that he had not placed a wager since
- 28:02he'd arrived in Lubbock. That was also part of the
- 28:04initial story. If you have an addiction, a true
- 28:08addiction. You're going to find a way to
- 28:09bet. That's where I jump off and
- 28:16where I start to think about nefarious things.
- 28:19I gotcha. And that's an excellent point.
- 28:21And that counters my point. And you're 1000% right.
- 28:23If you're sick, if you're an alcoholic and you go to a dry
- 28:26state, you're going to bring your you're going to find a way.
- 28:29Absolutely. You're an addict, you're going
- 28:32to find a way. And yet we're to believe.
- 28:35And once he got to Lubbock cold, cold Turkey, but he's addicted.
- 28:40That does not jive with the way that I think about things.
- 28:42Fair, unfair. That did not pass the smell
- 28:45smell test for me. Yeah, I can.
- 28:48I can. I can see your point.
- 28:50You make it. I can't argue that.
- 28:51I can't argue that, but I I just he's just a base himself, the
- 28:56Texas Tech president, he really and truly did.
- 28:58Again, it's the most important position in all sports.
- 29:01Would you be doing this for your long snapper?
- 29:02Of course not Elliot Cliff coming up next, 1230.
- 29:05Miller and Condon underway on our Wednesday.
- 29:08Cappy in 1/2 hour. That should be spirited.
- 29:11Look forward to catching up with Cappy Centurion Stone of Iowa
- 29:14sponsors capper. I'm Miller and Condon on the
- 29:16Iowa Sports Radio Network. I'm Hillary Congon, welcome
- 29:23back. 12:35 on a Wednesday, Cappy.
- 29:25Coming up, our number 2, Scott Agnes on the Fever and the W
- 29:28coming up at 1:30. Trends, plays of the day, circus
- 29:31sports sponsor, those those come by here at about till 150 or
- 29:34thereabouts. Let's talk to Elliot Clef a
- 29:37hawkeyeinsider.com. Elliot, we thought we might have
- 29:39some kickoff times. It sounds as though we're going
- 29:41to have to wait until 2:00 before we get into football.
- 29:44Elliot, I do want to pick your brain, Not pick your brain, but
- 29:47just get you to opine on your colleague Sean Bach, who did a a
- 29:51piece on Andrew through McKeever.
- 29:52I've not read it. I'm excited to see his fit at
- 29:56the University of Iowa. I I think he's going to he's got
- 29:59a chance, I think to play obviously a major impact in
- 30:03what's left of his career. Your thoughts and and what did
- 30:06Bach discover when it comes to McKeever and his potential fit?
- 30:11Yeah. Well, Ken, I was working this
- 30:13morning myself, so I haven't read it either, but it, you
- 30:17know, I think it's one of the primary things that is going to
- 30:22be different about Iowa this coming season.
- 30:24I mean, when you look at him, Manny out, what he did in the
- 30:27front court, pretty impressive for his size, but moving to a
- 30:30position where he can come off the bench, much more
- 30:33advantageous for him and Iowa. When you look at McKeever, I may
- 30:37have said it to you guys before, but the thing that sticks out to
- 30:40me and that I remember for my first year on the beat was going
- 30:44to watch the Hawks play at Purdue when back Eddie was there
- 30:49and Peyton Sanford telling me about how much space Edie took
- 30:53up. And that's such a positive
- 30:56towards the team that has a big guy.
- 30:58And now that's Iowa having having McKeever in the middle.
- 31:01He's I think he was, I can't remember the exact number, but
- 31:05he was one of the top players in the country and rebounding
- 31:09percentage, which again, that's huge for this team going into
- 31:12next season. Just the guy that takes up a ton
- 31:14of space that you can go to in the short pick and roll as a
- 31:18passer. Those numbers that that he put
- 31:21up as a passer and in a small sample size are really good.
- 31:25So just a guy that you know he's going to provide some serious
- 31:29size. That's what they needed.
- 31:30That's what they wanted on the portal.
- 31:32Underrated passer and a guy that can overwhelm overwhelm opposing
- 31:37offenses with his ability to take up space in the middle and
- 31:41in the paint. So just an ad that I were really
- 31:45needed and that they they got and that's a big win out of the
- 31:49out of the portal for for Ben McCollum and his and his second
- 31:53year leading the program. Speaking of out of the portal,
- 31:56Tyree Coleman his fit, another guy.
- 31:58You look at some of those numbers from Synergy, they're
- 32:00really good in the pick and roll game and something that you
- 32:02think he could strive on. Do you see him and Kale Combs
- 32:05playing a bunch together next year or maybe a little bit,
- 32:09maybe a stretch of 5 to 8 minutes a game?
- 32:11Do you think they're going to be the back court together or more
- 32:14of a combo, each of them running the point at different times?
- 32:18Yeah, that's a good question. I would imagine just because of
- 32:22the usage of the those type of guards in McCollum system that
- 32:28they'll play quite a bit together.
- 32:29It'll probably be interchangeable, right?
- 32:31I mean, those two are our combo guards with some positional
- 32:36versatility in terms of in terms of their size and and defense
- 32:42for that matter. Those that'll be two guys that
- 32:44play some really good perimeter defense for Iowa next year,
- 32:49whether it's on, you know, a point guard or or a shooting
- 32:52guard. I think what you want more from
- 32:55Combs is consistency in terms of shooting the three.
- 32:58Coleman brought that last year for Illinois State.
- 33:01My concern honestly, guys, is, is the immediate expectations
- 33:05for Coleman out of the portal because he was good for Illinois
- 33:09State last year. I think I think it's best
- 33:10basketball is ahead of him, but he's not going to be all Big 10
- 33:13first year, right? He averaged 10 points per game
- 33:16last year for Illinois State. So I think that's something
- 33:18maybe to tamper some expectations from the fan base
- 33:21at least. And you know, a lot of that
- 33:23expectations and stuff you see from the fan bases on Twitter.
- 33:26So maybe I'm overreacting because Twitter is not the real
- 33:29world, right? But yeah, but it'll be really
- 33:35interesting to see how McCollum balances those guys out.
- 33:39How much does Isaiah Howard factor into that rotation in the
- 33:43back or going into next year? Because he's one of the better
- 33:45defenders on the team and a really solid athlete.
- 33:48But he needs to be much more consistent as a shooter to see
- 33:52more consistent minutes this coming year.
- 33:54But I mean, honestly, your guess is as good as mine.
- 33:56I think that's going to be one of the more intriguing pieces
- 33:59about this team this coming year.
- 34:00And and where does a stage factor as a guy who plays on the
- 34:04ball this coming year? Is he going to play on the ball
- 34:06more because he is a guard, right, despite his his size and
- 34:10kind of fitting into that hybrid size of being a 67 wing, he does
- 34:18identify himself as a guard. So will he be on the ball this
- 34:22coming year? And how much does that factor
- 34:24into how much the ball is in Coleman's hands in Cale Combs
- 34:27hands? It's really, really interesting.
- 34:29If I had to guess, they probably start together, Coleman and
- 34:33Combs. That's that's my guess right
- 34:34now, but it'll be really interesting as to how they they
- 34:39split those roles. How Colmes grows in this coming
- 34:43year with with stirts having moved on and how much on ball
- 34:46responsibility each of these guys is going to get because
- 34:50that's I mean, that's a factor of McCollum and the way he likes
- 34:53to play the ball. Yeah, it's like to have a
- 34:55dominant on ball guard and and is Colmes, does he have that
- 34:58star power to take over that role and and play at a high
- 35:01level or or could Coleman, you know, blow, blow my expectations
- 35:07out of the water and and play at a really high level after just
- 35:10one year of mid major ball. Do you know the answer to this
- 35:13when it comes to see that one of the I guess one of the things I
- 35:16want to watch is, is the season ticket renewal and when
- 35:20deadlines are because look, we, we know that the women have have
- 35:24sold way more tickets over the last few years than the men
- 35:26have. I think that gap narrows this
- 35:29year, Elliott, obviously based on the, you know, the Elite
- 35:32Eight run and, and the, and the feel around the program and
- 35:35seemingly men's men's basketball fans who may have, you know,
- 35:38checked out during the end of McCaffrey era.
- 35:40I, I think if they were on the fence, I think they're totally
- 35:43going to be back in. Do you know when there are any
- 35:45deadlines as to as far as renewing your season tickets or
- 35:49where they're going to be out for men's basketball?
- 35:53Unfortunately, I don't off top my head, Ken, I know that some,
- 35:57some messaging were was sent out by the athletic department just
- 36:02recently, but I, I as far as I know, I think it was just a
- 36:05reminder to to sign up for your for your tickets.
- 36:09But yeah, I would imagine that that those numbers are going to
- 36:13be way up relative to last year, especially with the portal
- 36:17edition and that success that they had at the end of the year.
- 36:21It'll be intriguing to see how Iowa does in the non con against
- 36:25the their high major opponents. And I think that'll really help
- 36:28dictate how things go in the Big 10.
- 36:30And, you know, at the beginning of Big 10 play, it'll be it'll
- 36:34be interesting to follow. I imagine, you know, well, there
- 36:37will be more sell out this year than there was last year.
- 36:40And I will will have an opportunity to right the wrong
- 36:44of what happened against Purdue at home during that one sell out
- 36:47this last year. That was a brutal one.
- 36:50But I, I think, I think they'll be much more prepared for that
- 36:54and, and be ready to go and, and big games like that at home.
- 36:58Was announced yesterday that season ticket holders.
- 37:01The renewal deadline is July 30, 1st for that.
- 37:04So there you go. People can renew and then we'll
- 37:06get the new ones that'll go in there.
- 37:07And yes, it's going to be a good environment in Carver.
- 37:10You know, one guy Elliott I don't think we've talked much
- 37:12about is Cooper Koch and the essential we saw for him golf.
- 37:16With Jess Settles and just pops yesterday.
- 37:17That's not too bad, right? That's a good day out on the
- 37:19golf course playing with Jess and and with Jr.
- 37:21So we saw the shooting finally start to improve in the back
- 37:25third of the season. Kept him in a couple of games,
- 37:28really shot the ball well. Is there more to him skill set
- 37:31wise offensively, is he a guy not consistently, but a little
- 37:35bit more that can put it on the deck when people are closing out
- 37:38hard that can finish at the rim a little bit better.
- 37:40Offensively we saw the emergence on the defensive end.
- 37:43What more can he do on the offensive end to become maybe a
- 37:46more complete pair player this season?
- 37:49I think one thing that went super underrated about Cooper
- 37:52coming out of high school was his ability to score at all
- 37:54three levels. That hasn't necessarily
- 37:57translated so much at this point anyway.
- 38:01Would not surprise me if McCollum and staff, one of their
- 38:04big focuses is getting him in a position to handle the ball a
- 38:08little bit more, granted that hybrid position.
- 38:11I mean, like, like we started off this conversation talking
- 38:13about Combs and Coleman in terms of how how heavily on ball they
- 38:18are in this system. If you can get your hybrid to be
- 38:22a little bit more consistent on ball in terms of attacking the
- 38:24rim and such, that'll be really interesting.
- 38:26It'll be interesting, too, to see how how McCollum combines
- 38:34these lineups and how often, like how how he uses the hybrid
- 38:38in relation to McKeever in that you don't want to clog the lane,
- 38:42right? You don't want to cause
- 38:44turnovers by getting too bunched up inside.
- 38:47So with with Makeba as a Screener, how often are you
- 38:50going to use your hybrids in a thick and roll?
- 38:53Or is that going to be primarily your your your guard?
- 38:57So, yeah, I think if the next step, if there is a next step in
- 39:01Cooper's game, it is putting the ball on the deck, maybe doing a
- 39:05little bit of creation rather than just a catch and shoot guy,
- 39:08which he was really, really good at towards the end of the
- 39:12season. And it was just a matter of time
- 39:14before that started the, you know, the his shot started to
- 39:17fall. And luckily it happened towards
- 39:19the end of the season for Iowa. But yeah, I think it's putting
- 39:22the ball on the deck. I think it's it's scoring at the
- 39:24rim specifically. You know, you talk about a three
- 39:27level score. McCollum is not one to go for
- 39:31mid range jump shots by any means.
- 39:33So I think it's putting the ball in the deck, maybe creating a
- 39:35little bit off the dribble on the outside and then getting
- 39:38downhill and attacking the rim, finishing through contact,
- 39:41right, going for those and ones because coops are really good
- 39:43free throw shooter too. So what you want to score right?
- 39:46You want to score at the rim, you want to score from the free
- 39:49throw line and you want to score for three.
- 39:51McCollum is all about efficiency.
- 39:53Super conscious he can get to the rim, finish with both hands,
- 39:56finish through contact. That would be a major step
- 39:59forward in the game. What the last thing for me?
- 40:01What time do you speculate we're going to see the Iowa State Iowa
- 40:05Seihawk football game 63230? Any idea what?
- 40:09What's your guess as to when we're going to see Seihawk at
- 40:12Kinnick this year? Man, it'd be cool to have a
- 40:15night game for for Cyhawk again, wouldn't it?
- 40:18Under the lights that Ed Kinnick, it's been a while was
- 40:21the last one. The the punt where it was well
- 40:24muffed by a teammate tackling is that was the last.
- 40:28Name. Yeah.
- 40:30Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so that would be, that
- 40:33would be really fun. But I'll be a company man.
- 40:36I I'll say it's going to be on CBS at 2:30.
- 40:40Good stuff. All right, Elliot, thanks for
- 40:42popping on. We appreciate the contribution.
- 40:44As always. We'll talk to you in the weeks
- 40:46ahead. Thank you, Elliot Clough,
- 40:47hawkeyeinsider.com. Thanks pal.
- 40:50Yeah. Thanks guys.
- 40:51Yeah, good to talk to you. As we speculate on, I would talk
- 40:54a little basketball, little football with Elliot Clough.
- 40:59Good stuff on it, Elliot. It's going to be fun.
- 41:00This McCullum air is off on the right foot to say the very
- 41:03least, right? People are in.
- 41:05Yeah, I'm anxious to see the numbers.
- 41:06Trent does. Does the do the women continue
- 41:09their sell out right their stronghold on the attendance or
- 41:13does that come at the expense of the men becoming more popular
- 41:17again? We're still talking about a
- 41:19media market that's not very big, right?
- 41:21And there's only so many entertainment dollars.
- 41:24Wrestling has their fan base. Yep.
- 41:26And they're selling out. Yep.
- 41:27Now you have women's basketball now people getting back into the
- 41:30men. And I told you that phenomenon
- 41:32of women's basketball and how my parents and their friends and
- 41:37how it wasn't like it was growing up when I was men's
- 41:40basketball was appointment viewing.
- 41:42It was women's basketball. Well, now with the success, and
- 41:45I started to see it in in March, they're starting to get back
- 41:48into it. Oh, yeah, this is fun.
- 41:50This, this is enjoyable. There does feel like there is a
- 41:55peak for everybody. It's going to be very difficult
- 41:58for everybody to be able to sell out everything.
- 42:00We'll take our final time out of our number one, David Kaplan off
- 42:03to Chicago to kick off the second hour, Miller and Condon
- 42:06on the Iowa Sports Radio Network.
- 42:12Hi, Miller and Condon, welcome back final couple of minutes,
- 42:14First hour of our program. David Kaplan kicks off Hour 2,
- 42:18Scott Agnes on the WNBA and the Fever that play the Valks
- 42:22tomorrow night in that rematch. Real quick, 11 hours from now,
- 42:26where are we? About 11 hours.
- 42:28Monchilovich will have told the world what he's going to do.
- 42:31It seems like if you wait till this long, you come back to
- 42:34school. That's my guess.
- 42:38I don't know where he's going. I don't think it's Iowa State.
- 42:40I don't think it's Iowa State either.
- 42:43I don't think it's Louisville. I don't think it's St.
- 42:44John's. You think it's Kentucky?
- 42:45I think it's Kentucky. I hope it's not Arizona for Iowa
- 42:49State fans. Yeah, when that one came up
- 42:52yesterday. When Goodman.
- 42:53Yeah, I. And of course, clone fans
- 42:56attacked him because he's after clicks.
- 42:58That was their push back. Nothing but clicks.
- 43:01I he's obviously got look, he's he's as connected as there
- 43:04anybody. He's in the sport, yes.
- 43:06Fair. Yes, I think, I don't think that
- 43:08this, I hope this isn't going to happen.
- 43:10He's also a Rankin tour. Yeah, he's not.
- 43:12That's true. He's not a strict, Yep news guy
- 43:15like Matt Hauerlander. Yep, he likes to prod and poke.
- 43:19Yeah, that's true. He does.
- 43:20So to be fair, on both sides, he also has more of that element,
- 43:24but I think it's Kentucky. I just don't think he pulled it
- 43:27out of his. You know what?
- 43:28Right. I also know where Jeff Tubman
- 43:30went to school, right? No.
- 43:31Where did he go? Arizona did he?
- 43:33Yes. And yet, Arizona fans hate.
- 43:35Him and he lives in Charleston, SC.
- 43:37Is that where he is I. Think he does?
- 43:38Yeah, I hope it's not Arizona. It's not a it would be if you go
- 43:45to another Big 12 school that wouldn't like it.
- 43:48It seemed pretty clear that the TJ and Milan had a conversation
- 43:53as soon as the year ended and both seem both seemingly were
- 43:57good with we came this far. It's time to go different ways.
- 44:02I I, I think he's going to Kentucky.
- 44:04I don't think he's going to the NBA.
- 44:06The St. John's won.
- 44:08The money's there. Yeah, get him over the hump.
- 44:13Talk about being a legend in in New York, right?
- 44:16That'll be pretty good. What?
- 44:17Who's going to be better? Who's.
- 44:18And you'll have essentially, if by the sounds of things, you'll
- 44:21have two years to play. If we get the passage and the
- 44:25opportunity for the five for five.
- 44:27That's Ted Cruz and some other and and another politician
- 44:32putting forward. Yeah, that's from Washington
- 44:34state. Yeah.
- 44:36Is that got a chance? I mean, there's some things in
- 44:38there that I like, Trent. Yes, the Lane Kiffin rule is the
- 44:40best one. I love it.
- 44:42I love it. If you missed it.
- 44:43So this has been being worked on forever.
- 44:45They've come together. They still got to get the votes.
- 44:47We're a long ways away from that, but they put it at the
- 44:50Lane Kiffin rule where you can't leave your program until the
- 44:53season is over, right? Perfect.
- 44:55Love it, love it. You get 5 years, one transfer.
- 45:01If you transfer again, you got to sit out you.
- 45:02Got to sit out here like you can, but you we'll see where it
- 45:06goes. We're going to go to Chicago and
- 45:07we come back. Cappy kicks off our number 2
- 45:10Miller and Condon Iowa Sports Radio Network.
