- 0:21Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered, a special edition high above the
- 0:29Speaker 2: practice fields here at Gillette Stadium.
- 0:31Speaker 3: This is a special joint broadcast.
- 0:33Speaker 2: And what I mean by that the Washington Commanders are
- 0:36Speaker 2: in town for a joint practice with the New England Patriots.
- 0:39Speaker 2: We'll be here for the first four periods to cover
- 0:42Speaker 2: everything that we're allowed to show you, and then after
- 0:45Speaker 2: practice Deuce and Paul will be around to wrap up
- 0:49Speaker 2: everything that they saw today. This is a big day
- 0:51Speaker 2: for you know, both teams, but we only care about
- 0:54Speaker 2: one of them. A good measuring stick for the Patriots
- 0:58Speaker 2: to see where they are against uh, you know, players
- 1:01Speaker 2: that they haven't seen yet.
- 1:03Speaker 3: So guys, what do you what are you looking at?
- 1:08Speaker 4: Pretty much everything?
- 1:09Speaker 5: I totally agree with you about the importance of seeing
- 1:13Speaker 5: what what it looks like against another team. And you know,
- 1:17Speaker 5: another set of personnel, set of schemes, coaching styles and whatnot.
- 1:21Speaker 4: So I think there's a lot to watch. For me.
- 1:23Speaker 4: It starts and ends with Drake May.
- 1:25Speaker 5: As you know, I'm always quarterback centric, but I feel
- 1:28Speaker 5: like the offense has shown some signs of being improved
- 1:32Speaker 5: this year this summer, but we haven't seen it on
- 1:35Speaker 5: a consistent basis. So I do still have a little
- 1:38Speaker 5: PTSD to that joint practice that we had last year
- 1:40Speaker 5: against Philadelphia.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I want to make sure it's a hell of a
- 1:43Speaker 4: lot better than that.
- 1:44Speaker 3: You know, I've said this before.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I hope somebody put that tape in from Mike for
- 1:48Speaker 2: Abel because obviously he wasn't here last year.
- 1:50Speaker 3: He needs to see that.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and and somebody, you know, whether it's Robert Craft
- 1:55Speaker 2: or Milton Williams.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, Milton Williams.
- 1:59Speaker 2: This can't happen again because you know, sometimes you'll learn
- 2:03Speaker 2: from mistakes, and last year was terrible, so we don't
- 2:09Speaker 2: want to see a repeat of that now.
- 2:10Speaker 6: I just echo what Paul had to say.
- 2:12Speaker 7: I think for me today it's really about Drake May
- 2:14Speaker 7: and the competitive period, probably the very last period they're
- 2:17Speaker 7: going to do today. It's gonna be Red Zone Live
- 2:19Speaker 7: eleven on eleven. Those are the periods over the last
- 2:22Speaker 7: couple of practices that you know, we've seen the offense
- 2:24Speaker 7: sputter a little bit. They look good early on seven
- 2:26Speaker 7: on seven when they're putting stuff in when it's not
- 2:29Speaker 7: quite so competitive, But the more competitive it's got, the
- 2:32Speaker 7: more the defense has dominated these practices at the end.
- 2:34Speaker 7: So to me, today it's all going to be a
- 2:36Speaker 7: build up to that final drill to see if Drake
- 2:39Speaker 7: can maybe deliver and help that offense get in the
- 2:41Speaker 7: end zone and start inspiring some confidence in his teammates
- 2:44Speaker 7: that he's going to be the kind of guy when
- 2:45Speaker 7: the game's on the line that he can lead the
- 2:47Speaker 7: team down the field and get critical points.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Absolutely, yeah, I go offensive line.
- 2:52Speaker 8: I think that's the biggest thing right now if with
- 2:53Speaker 8: this team, Paul, you brought up last year's joined practice
- 2:56Speaker 8: with the Eagles, and that was the most glaring issue
- 2:59Speaker 8: out of that was just how overmatched the Patriots offensive
- 3:02Speaker 8: line was against that Philly front. You know, this Washington
- 3:06Speaker 8: defense doesn't quite have the horses. There's no Jalen Carter
- 3:09Speaker 8: and you know Nolan Smith and those guys in Philly
- 3:12Speaker 8: that not quite at that level. But still you got
- 3:14Speaker 8: those two rookies on the line that you're expecting to
- 3:17Speaker 8: see a lot of today, Will Campbell and Jared Wilson,
- 3:19Speaker 8: And how do those guys look?
- 3:21Speaker 4: How do they hold up to get to deuce?
- 3:23Speaker 8: As part of Drake being able to succeed in those
- 3:25Speaker 8: big moments, he's got to be protected. They got to
- 3:27Speaker 8: keep the quarterback up right, and then I think he's
- 3:30Speaker 8: gonna be able to do his thing. But until they
- 3:32Speaker 8: can protect for him consistently, they're gonna have issues offensively.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So that's where I'm looking. Do we have a participation
- 3:41Speaker 2: report from the commanders? Who's in, who's out? Jayden Daniels
- 3:45Speaker 2: is playing, he'll be out there today. Terry McLaurin, What's
- 3:50Speaker 2: what's the deal with him?
- 3:50Speaker 1: Now?
- 3:51Speaker 6: It sounds like Terry mclaurin's in a hold ink.
- 3:53Speaker 7: You'll see him unless the person the rams was Terry McLaurin.
- 3:56Speaker 7: I did see a jersey, but I don't think that
- 3:58Speaker 7: was him. Unfortunate though, I mean when we first saw
- 4:00Speaker 7: these practices come in, I thought to myself, Wow, Terry
- 4:03Speaker 7: McLaurin versus Christian Gonzales. Maybe no such luck today, but
- 4:07Speaker 7: still plenty to look at in those one on one periods.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't seen anything, Fred, I haven't you know,
- 4:13Speaker 5: spent much time doing the Washington prep work. Just for me,
- 4:19Speaker 5: it's it's more about what the Patriots are doing. And
- 4:21Speaker 5: I think, you know, Evan focusing on the offensive line.
- 4:25Speaker 5: I don't really care who's who's rushing the pass or
- 4:27Speaker 5: I want to make sure that they're, you know, at
- 4:29Speaker 5: least doing a better job of protecting Drake May than
- 4:32Speaker 5: they did last year. And it should be it should
- 4:35Speaker 5: be better because Evan's right, they don't have a Jailing
- 4:37Speaker 5: Carter or Jordan Davis and and you know all of those,
- 4:40Speaker 5: you know, Josh Wetz and the guy in Milton Williams
- 4:43Speaker 5: even you know, we talked to him in the offseason.
- 4:45Speaker 5: He brought back, brought up those those joint that joint
- 4:49Speaker 5: practice and all those past rush problems that the Patriots had.
- 4:53Speaker 4: So it should be better.
- 4:54Speaker 5: I like the idea of the two rookies for the
- 4:57Speaker 5: reason that you talked about on Patriots Unfiltered yesterday. You know,
- 5:00Speaker 5: get those two rookies out there, let them start, and
- 5:02Speaker 5: let them learn through their mistakes and go through the
- 5:05Speaker 5: peaks and valleys and you should be better off in
- 5:07Speaker 5: the long.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Run, right, Throw them into the fire, see what happens.
- 5:09Speaker 2: It's the same attitude I had last year with Drake May.
- 5:12Speaker 2: It's like, let him make mistakes, let him know what
- 5:15Speaker 2: he's good at, let him know what he's going to
- 5:17Speaker 2: have to work on. And the only way you can
- 5:19Speaker 2: do that is to just, you know, take the shackles
- 5:23Speaker 2: off and let.
- 5:24Speaker 7: Them taking the shackles off. And I want to see
- 5:27Speaker 7: Jade Daniels today. I mean, what an outstanding rookie year
- 5:29Speaker 7: from him? Is he ready to take that second year leap?
- 5:32Speaker 7: Not as easy without Terry mclaorner around here, but you know,
- 5:35Speaker 7: such an outstanding season from him last year. A lot
- 5:37Speaker 7: of this stuff we're talking about with Drake is you
- 5:39Speaker 7: know what Jayden Daniels did as a rookie. Look at
- 5:41Speaker 7: that playoff run that he had, delivering in the clutch,
- 5:44Speaker 7: getting them in position to it to win big games.
- 5:46Speaker 6: So you know, curious what he looks like in year two.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Is he maybe added a little weight?
- 5:50Speaker 7: Is he still you know how much are they still
- 5:51Speaker 7: trying to run him at least in this camp? Is
- 5:53Speaker 7: that going to be part of what their their plan is?
- 5:56Speaker 7: I remember Paul a couple of years ago, we saw
- 5:57Speaker 7: the Giants come here and it felt like the only
- 5:58Speaker 7: thing the Giants could do was Daniel Jones. That was
- 6:01Speaker 7: their one play that looked pretty good. Otherwise it was
- 6:03Speaker 7: a struggle. But I'm sure to look different from the
- 6:05Speaker 7: Commanders today and just exciting young player that's certainly on
- 6:08Speaker 7: the rise for the NFL.
- 6:10Speaker 2: All right, so around ten o'clock, Mike Vrabel will have
- 6:12Speaker 2: his press conference before practice, and I'm wondering if any
- 6:17Speaker 2: of the scribes will ask him if he's talked to
- 6:20Speaker 2: Dan Quinn and sort of choreographed maybe some of these
- 6:25Speaker 2: sessions too, so they can get certain looks that they.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Want to see.
- 6:29Speaker 7: I mean, looking at the schedule, it seems pretty straightforward
- 6:31Speaker 7: of you know what you want to accomplish in terms
- 6:33Speaker 7: of seven on seven. You want to do some middle
- 6:35Speaker 7: of the field stuff, early down work. You want to
- 6:37Speaker 7: get a bunch of situations on third down which you
- 6:40Speaker 7: can't control in the preseason game. You don't know what
- 6:42Speaker 7: opportunities are going to rise when a game's unfolding organically.
- 6:45Speaker 7: This gives you an opportunity to say, hey, we want
- 6:47Speaker 7: to get a bunch of reps that this specific situation
- 6:50Speaker 7: that maybe hasn't looked that good or you know, really
- 6:52Speaker 7: that you want to drill down on. So I'm sure
- 6:54Speaker 7: they'll walk through all those different things, but I would expect,
- 6:56Speaker 7: you know, middle of the field, some early down work
- 6:58Speaker 7: you're going to get in the red zone a little bit,
- 7:00Speaker 7: and then that final competitive pierod and not just like uh,
- 7:03Speaker 7: you know, reps of scenarios in situations, but also individuals.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, can you send so and so up against
- 7:11Speaker 2: Will Campbell? No, I'm serious, why not? Yeah, you know,
- 7:14Speaker 2: insigner info. We want to test these guys on things.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I don't know how close close Brabel and Quinn are.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I mean, I know next week you have Kevin O'Connell's.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You have a little bit overlap there with with those
- 7:24Speaker 2: coaching staff. So yeah, we'll see, we'll see what they
- 7:26Speaker 2: put together. But I think generally all these that I've
- 7:28Speaker 2: seen are generally the same. You want to get competitive periods,
- 7:31Speaker 2: you want to get team periods, a little seven on
- 7:32Speaker 2: seven in the red zone, but otherwise have you ever
- 7:34Speaker 2: met Dan Quinn to let him know I'm the guy
- 7:36Speaker 2: with the twenty eight, Well, we saw him in the
- 7:37Speaker 2: airport last year.
- 7:39Speaker 6: We saw him in the airport.
- 7:41Speaker 8: Met dan Quinn in the airport in Indianapolis one year
- 7:44Speaker 8: and we're sitting there eating lunch and we saw a
- 7:48Speaker 8: guy walking with the backwards hat on and I was
- 7:51Speaker 8: we were both like and sure enough it was dan Quinn.
- 7:54Speaker 8: But between dan Quinn and Cliff Kingsbury, I would assume
- 7:57Speaker 8: that they that Mike Rabel has some connections with the
- 7:59Speaker 8: coaching staff here in Washington, and I would think that
- 8:03Speaker 8: he overlapped with Kingsbury for you know, a short period
- 8:06Speaker 8: of time at least when Kingsbury was a player here
- 8:09Speaker 8: as well, so you know, you have you have a
- 8:11Speaker 8: connection there too, So I'm sure these staffs know each
- 8:14Speaker 8: other pretty well.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Okay, you can see players arriving, I can't. Can we
- 8:20Speaker 2: turn this monitor on? Traveon Henderson is on the screen.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I think there's a chance that he could be a
- 8:29Speaker 5: much bigger part of the offense in terms of a
- 8:32Speaker 5: big play threat than maybe some people realize. I still
- 8:36Speaker 5: think he's more of a pass catcher, but I just
- 8:40Speaker 5: watching some of the things that Josh mcdineals has had
- 8:42Speaker 5: him do. I think he maybe once or twice every
- 8:47Speaker 5: practice he's he tries to get him downfield on some
- 8:49Speaker 5: kind of a wheel route or you know, something of
- 8:52Speaker 5: that nature. And I think he's going to be a
- 8:55Speaker 5: big matchup problem for you know, virtually any any linebacker
- 9:00Speaker 5: that that's going to try to run with him. I
- 9:01Speaker 5: just don't think you're going to be able to do it.
- 9:03Speaker 5: And I think they're gonna take some shots with him.
- 9:05Speaker 5: I don't know where else you get the big plays
- 9:07Speaker 5: out of this offense. I don't think they have a
- 9:09Speaker 5: traditional downfield guy, so sometimes you have to be a
- 9:12Speaker 5: little creative.
- 9:12Speaker 4: But I think Henderson could be a way that McDaniels
- 9:14Speaker 4: can be creative.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I mean we talked about that yesterday and Paul, you
- 9:19Speaker 2: even agreed that this year, compared to last year, Drake
- 9:23Speaker 2: may should have more weapons. Yeah yeah, on paper, Yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 2: on paper, there is at at least a players.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Too, talented guys that weren't here last year and Henderson
- 9:32Speaker 5: and Diggs.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Yeah, Henderson is their most explosive weapon that we've seen
- 9:36Speaker 4: so far.
- 9:37Speaker 2: All Right, we've got Mike Rabel coming up to the podium,
- 9:40Speaker 2: so uh, let's go to him.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I see him glad handing. It's gonna he's gonna take
- 9:46Speaker 3: a few minutes.
- 9:47Speaker 2: He's talking to somebody right now, So let's let's hold off.
- 9:51Speaker 8: It's dan Quinn is at the is there right now
- 9:54Speaker 8: talking to who's he talking to? Dan quinn is talking
- 9:56Speaker 8: to the media.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Right, Oh yeah, sometime.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Oh so the staggering that he was going first, Yeah,
- 10:03Speaker 3: all right, so backwards.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Them.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Well he's got dann Quinn, He's got the hat backwards.
- 10:10Speaker 5: You like that, right? Alex actually likes it, right, Alex
- 10:15Speaker 5: likes the hat backwards.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 7: Yeah, Oh, I don't to be the ruling on that
- 10:18Speaker 7: with the fitted hat backwards though, I don't know if that.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Might fitted hat backwards?
- 10:21Speaker 6: Is that is that makes you might like?
- 10:23Speaker 1: This?
- 10:23Speaker 4: Is that different? The snap back the snap back?
- 10:25Speaker 6: It's the difference.
- 10:26Speaker 4: No one likes the snap back.
- 10:28Speaker 8: The flappert snapback is what's in right now, Paul, that's
- 10:31Speaker 8: that's what all the kids are wearing these days.
- 10:33Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Not a big fan, all right.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So as we wait for Vrabel, like I said, it'll
- 10:42Speaker 2: be interesting to see if if our uh peers down
- 10:47Speaker 2: in the media, you know, ask him about the details
- 10:50Speaker 2: of the practice, and then how open he'll be about it.
- 10:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 7: I mean, that's the thing I noticed about Rabel is
- 10:55Speaker 7: he kind of wants to just get it out there
- 10:57Speaker 7: instead of making you waste time trying to figure out
- 10:59Speaker 7: what's going on with that. The other night he laid
- 11:01Speaker 7: it all out. Uh, so maybe we'll get more of
- 11:03Speaker 7: that today. I found when you know those things, it's
- 11:05Speaker 7: a lot nicer. You're not spending so much time deciphering
- 11:08Speaker 7: what's coming up next. You kind of know, and you
- 11:09Speaker 7: can just focus on the competitive period. So yeah, I
- 11:13Speaker 7: think it's going to be a good day for both teams.
- 11:15Speaker 7: And you know, see a lot of a lot of young, exciting.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Players out here.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Ye see what's going on.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Look like you seem like you were a little surprised.
- 11:23Speaker 5: For it that I you know, I felt like they
- 11:25Speaker 5: had a couple more weapons.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Well, you know, you're you're very particular about your definition
- 11:31Speaker 2: of what a weapon is. It seems to me like
- 11:34Speaker 2: Jamar Chase isn't a weapon. Jam Chase is not a
- 11:37Speaker 2: web I said, anything lower than Jamar Chase in your eyes,
- 11:41Speaker 2: is it really a weapon?
- 11:42Speaker 5: No, I would say there's a difference between just having
- 11:46Speaker 5: a bunch of guys and having Stefan Dix.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Well, I mean I'm a little crazy like that.
- 11:52Speaker 2: That's why and that's why I go to the talent right. No,
- 11:56Speaker 2: and that's why I wanted to, you know, talk to
- 11:59Speaker 2: you about that, because you can also use weapon in
- 12:02Speaker 2: a way like, Okay, who are my weapons on this team? Oh,
- 12:05Speaker 2: it's this is Well, they're not very good, you know,
- 12:07Speaker 2: their weapons, but they're not very good like so.
- 12:09Speaker 5: And that's what I'm saying by he's not a weapon, Like, yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 5: you have guys that are wide receivers, but the difference
- 12:15Speaker 5: between just having a wide receiver and having Jamar Chase
- 12:18Speaker 5: right or Justin Jeffers.
- 12:20Speaker 3: He's a favorite guy.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Yeah, so the guy you developed in we're covered.
- 12:25Speaker 4: We're not quite on that level yet.
- 12:28Speaker 8: But I am interested with Travon Henderson because, like, statistically,
- 12:31Speaker 8: running backs, their targets usually go for less yards because
- 12:35Speaker 8: they're targeted closer to the line of scrimmage, Like their
- 12:38Speaker 8: average depth of target is not as high as like
- 12:41Speaker 8: a wide receiver would be down the field. So, if
- 12:44Speaker 8: you're running back is your most explosive player on your offense,
- 12:48Speaker 8: how do you then manufacture big plays down the field
- 12:52Speaker 8: coming out of the backfield wheel routes seams. You're getting
- 12:55Speaker 8: him into the seams, flexing him out wide. There's a
- 12:58Speaker 8: million ways to do it, I suppose.
- 12:59Speaker 2: But yeah, so we've got you can see dan Quinn
- 13:02Speaker 2: and Mike Rabel right now, uh talking about what would
- 13:06Speaker 2: seem like here's what's gonna happen in practice. Vrabel has
- 13:09Speaker 2: a sheet that he's pointing to and going over with
- 13:14Speaker 2: with dan Quinn.
- 13:15Speaker 3: So they're doing exactly what we just talked about.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yuh.
- 13:19Speaker 7: I was reminiscing with Paul because of course, you know,
- 13:20Speaker 7: Jonathan Jones and Tutrick Wise are now on the Commanders, So, uh,
- 13:24Speaker 7: Dietrick Wise among the memorable performances and a couple of
- 13:27Speaker 7: joint practices.
- 13:28Speaker 6: And go in the middle of a couple of scrumbs.
- 13:29Speaker 6: But love those guys.
- 13:31Speaker 7: They were you know, you're heard yesterday some of the
- 13:33Speaker 7: defensive players talking about what those guys meant to them
- 13:36Speaker 7: as as leaders around here.
- 13:37Speaker 6: So they've moved on.
- 13:38Speaker 7: They're trying to help a team like the Commanders get
- 13:40Speaker 7: over the hump. But good to see a couple of
- 13:42Speaker 7: old old Patriots who you know, contributed to a couple
- 13:45Speaker 7: couple of championships.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Both those guys, all right, yeah, so this this is interesting.
- 13:51Speaker 2: They're they're talking at length about, uh what would seem like,
- 13:55Speaker 2: here's what I want to do.
- 13:56Speaker 3: What do you want to do? So good stuff? It's
- 14:01Speaker 3: I don't think we've ever.
- 14:03Speaker 2: All right, So here comes uh, here comes Mike to
- 14:07Speaker 2: the podium right now my practice.
- 14:11Speaker 9: Is there anything you're looking for outside of what you
- 14:14Speaker 9: typically look for in a regular practice or what's what's
- 14:17Speaker 9: the game?
- 14:18Speaker 1: What's the goal for you? Well, the goal is just
- 14:19Speaker 1: to be able to.
- 14:22Speaker 10: Put put the the identity out on the field against
- 14:25Speaker 10: another team, to put the fundamentals that we've put out
- 14:28Speaker 10: there the installation, to be able to do it against
- 14:31Speaker 10: another defense. To be able to adjust to different play
- 14:34Speaker 10: styles of players, players that maybe are you know have
- 14:37Speaker 10: maybe are longer or quicker or you know, stronger, Just
- 14:41Speaker 10: at different play styles of each player throughout this league.
- 14:44Speaker 10: Work with a team that we have a lot of
- 14:46Speaker 10: respect for, a team that was very good and played
- 14:51Speaker 10: their best football late in the season, which is why
- 14:54Speaker 10: they were had an opportunity.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Late in the season in the in the tournament.
- 14:58Speaker 10: A lot of respect for for DQ and his coaching staff.
- 15:02Speaker 1: So just as a good fit like today and Friday
- 15:07Speaker 1: to get what you want to see, How do I
- 15:10Speaker 1: use what I'm sorry in.
- 15:11Speaker 6: Friday, the game and joint practice.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Yeah, the game is an extension of practice.
- 15:15Speaker 10: The first preseason game is you know, we're gonna we're
- 15:18Speaker 10: gonna play, We're practice today, We've got some situations and
- 15:21Speaker 10: then you know tomorrow we'll you know, be the day before.
- 15:25Speaker 10: But but Friday will be an extension.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Of of a work.
- 15:28Speaker 10: It'll be a game and it'll give us an opportunity
- 15:31Speaker 10: to go out there. But still just looking at it
- 15:33Speaker 10: as a as a practice opportunity to to continue to
- 15:36Speaker 10: work and get guys the reps that we think that
- 15:38Speaker 10: they're gonna need for the season.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Like when the game plan for the starters specifically great
- 15:42Speaker 4: on Friday.
- 15:43Speaker 10: Nay, again, focused on today and they'll get a lot
- 15:46Speaker 10: of rep so today, different situations and again, uh, I
- 15:52Speaker 10: would say most everybody that's that's healthy, UH should expect
- 15:55Speaker 10: to play in the game.
- 15:56Speaker 1: How long they'll play, I don't know.
- 15:57Speaker 10: But we have to prepare to play in football games
- 15:59Speaker 10: and you know, prepare to win football game.
- 16:02Speaker 1: So that's the mentality that that we're going to take.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Mike learn the paratum on so far dozens are so
- 16:09Speaker 4: price prices.
- 16:11Speaker 10: I mean, he's seems to be a quick learner. And
- 16:13Speaker 10: if there's a you know, something that happens in production.
- 16:15Speaker 10: He rarely makes the same mistake twice. This great teammate,
- 16:21Speaker 10: you know, I mean you see him playing with effort
- 16:23Speaker 10: when he doesn't have the ball in his hand, and
- 16:26Speaker 10: you know he's been able to do some things in
- 16:28Speaker 10: a run game, and you know, learns quickly to be
- 16:31Speaker 10: able to move.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Him around at different positions offensively.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Thoses you didn't see out there yesterday, kind of left
- 16:37Speaker 5: practice earlier the day before.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Is that easing him back in still or is that
- 16:41Speaker 4: something he knew he's.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Doing with Probably a combination of both.
- 16:44Speaker 10: And just want to be smart and you know, make
- 16:46Speaker 10: sure that everybody's playing is the best one for them
- 16:48Speaker 10: to to be.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Prepared for the season.
- 16:51Speaker 10: So you know, more than I'll do a little bit today,
- 16:54Speaker 10: it won't do much and then you know, we'll see
- 16:56Speaker 10: where he is at the next opportunity, which would be Friday.
- 16:58Speaker 1: You mentioned spect for d Q. He did it last year,
- 17:02Speaker 1: first year with the team.
- 17:03Speaker 10: What's the biggest challenge for a coach in his first
- 17:05Speaker 10: season with a team? Just putting a lot of different
- 17:09Speaker 10: people together, figuring out who the core players are, the
- 17:13Speaker 10: ones that you want to bring in the coaching staff,
- 17:15Speaker 10: the organizationally, the support staffs to get it to where
- 17:19Speaker 10: you want it and you feel comfortable about it. And
- 17:22Speaker 10: that's that's what he did. He did an excellent job
- 17:25Speaker 10: of and we're hoping to do the same thing.
- 17:27Speaker 11: Like I've heard some medical coaches say that they get
- 17:30Speaker 11: more out of joint practices than they do in the
- 17:33Speaker 11: preseason game for kicks out process on that, I.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Think that they're important. I think that you know, they
- 17:39Speaker 1: may not be.
- 17:42Speaker 10: Live, but I think that there's still great tempo, there's
- 17:44Speaker 10: great speed, the competitiveness.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But I as I mean that the games are important.
- 17:49Speaker 10: That the games to go out there and operate and
- 17:53Speaker 10: see the penalties and the speed of it and the
- 17:57Speaker 10: timing of it, the time with the two minute and
- 17:59Speaker 10: all those differentferent things and tackling and being able to
- 18:01Speaker 10: get get guys at the ground, being able to break tackles,
- 18:06Speaker 10: you know, playing cut box and all those things that
- 18:08Speaker 10: we don't see in practice.
- 18:09Speaker 12: Like you guys, obviously your defense is to see Drake
- 18:12Speaker 12: May on a daily basis in practice. But what kind
- 18:14Speaker 12: of uh maybe different challenge does Jayden Daniels post.
- 18:17Speaker 10: Well, again, we'll have to see what they call and
- 18:19Speaker 10: what Cliff calls and what they run. But he talented,
- 18:25Speaker 10: makes great decisions, but also very fast. And you know
- 18:30Speaker 10: while he scrambles and he can run with the football,
- 18:33Speaker 10: you know rarely takes a big hit, which is very
- 18:36Speaker 10: impressive for for any player, especially a quarterback. And he's
- 18:41Speaker 10: not the not the biggest guy, but you know, you
- 18:43Speaker 10: just don't see him taking too many hits when he
- 18:46Speaker 10: runs like.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Marcus, Brian get he increase reps in th starters, lost
- 18:51Speaker 2: a couple of viass.
- 18:51Speaker 6: What have you seen from the seven drund page this offseason?
- 18:54Speaker 10: Marcus has gotten better is you know, trying to compete
- 18:56Speaker 10: at left tackle and right tackle, and you know, when
- 18:59Speaker 10: somebody goes down or they're not available, we just put
- 19:02Speaker 10: the next guy in there and then we evaluate him
- 19:04Speaker 10: and if he earns the opportunity to stay there, he
- 19:06Speaker 10: stays there. And Marcus has done that.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I think he's gotten better each and every day played
- 19:12Speaker 1: the left, switched over and played on the right. And
- 19:14Speaker 1: you did a nice job the other day. At the
- 19:16Speaker 1: end of.
- 19:16Speaker 12: Practice, into the consideration that having with one to in practice.
- 19:21Speaker 10: Have two because Washington only wanted to come up for
- 19:26Speaker 10: one day.
- 19:27Speaker 8: Mike any words of the players about the fights and stuff.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Like that out here.
- 19:31Speaker 10: We want to practice the same way we practice against
- 19:34Speaker 10: our team, and that's by playing physical and aggressive and
- 19:38Speaker 10: not doing stuff that hurts the team.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And you know, certainly don't expect.
- 19:42Speaker 10: Any of that, and if it does, we'll have to
- 19:44Speaker 10: handle it accordingly. And I just you have to be
- 19:46Speaker 10: able to play competitively and physically without you know, letting
- 19:50Speaker 10: your emotions get the best of you.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Any plans for a live tackling to everything like that, No, well,
- 19:56Speaker 4: you're when.
- 19:57Speaker 12: To come to just to kind of fall up on
- 19:58Speaker 12: the Gene Daniels question. Heard your defensive line guys talk
- 20:01Speaker 12: about being aggressive.
- 20:02Speaker 6: And getting off the ball fast.
- 20:03Speaker 12: Do you have to against the more athletic quarterback temper
- 20:06Speaker 12: that for some guys.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I mean, again, you just have to be coordinated.
- 20:10Speaker 10: You have to be relentless and coordinated in your rush
- 20:12Speaker 10: and based on some calls, and you know, if you're
- 20:16Speaker 10: not going to be, you know, where's going to be
- 20:18Speaker 10: some scrambles today that we need to coach off of
- 20:20Speaker 10: and and see, so that's that'll be a good thing.
- 20:23Speaker 10: And uh, you know, we haven't talked too much about it.
- 20:26Speaker 10: We're going to go and practice, and then I think
- 20:29Speaker 10: the best thing will be to be able to correct
- 20:31Speaker 10: it and and show it and figure out what we
- 20:33Speaker 10: need to do if we were going into a game, and.
- 20:36Speaker 12: Like what amount of preparation that you put in with
- 20:38Speaker 12: the players to familiarize themselves with.
- 20:40Speaker 10: Just a little bit, you know what I mean, just
- 20:42Speaker 10: a little bit, just enough for maybe they're they've show
- 20:44Speaker 10: us some things that we haven't done on either side
- 20:46Speaker 10: of the football, and making sure that they're they're prepared
- 20:49Speaker 10: for some of that if they choose to run the
- 20:51Speaker 10: quarterback in the red zone or whenever they want to
- 20:53Speaker 10: do it, or some of their plays that we maybe
- 20:56Speaker 10: haven't seen. And then defensively, some of the looks that
- 21:00Speaker 10: he may or may not get that we haven't gotten
- 21:02Speaker 10: from our defense. So I want to try to give
- 21:04Speaker 10: the players the best opportunity to come out here and
- 21:06Speaker 10: be evaluated and so that they feel comfortable and they
- 21:11Speaker 10: feel like.
- 21:11Speaker 1: They've maybe seen something. If they haven't, then we have
- 21:13Speaker 1: to adjust to it pretty quickly. You were a teamate
- 21:15Speaker 1: at Cliff Kingsbury for a relatively short period of time.
- 21:18Speaker 1: What if anything do you remember about him as a player.
- 21:22Speaker 1: He wasn't better than Tom Brady.
- 21:24Speaker 10: Uh, just you know, Cliff, Cliff's a good friend. There's
- 21:28Speaker 10: I mean, there's a handful of coaches over there that
- 21:30Speaker 10: I've that I've played with in the league, whether that's
- 21:33Speaker 10: a year or you know, in Larry's case, eight years.
- 21:36Speaker 1: So they got a good staff.
- 21:39Speaker 10: They've got a good mix of guys that have played
- 21:41Speaker 10: in this league and other guys that that didn't.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But that's a good coaching staff that they have.
- 21:45Speaker 10: And you know, Cliff's really done a nice job everywhere
- 21:49Speaker 10: he's been offensively.
- 21:50Speaker 11: When you ever get him got together talking about this practice,
- 21:53Speaker 11: are there situations where they'll say to you, Mike, at
- 21:56Speaker 11: this point, we want to see something that you'll set
- 21:59Speaker 11: something up that he wants to see his team against
- 22:01Speaker 11: and vice versa.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we talked.
- 22:02Speaker 10: I mean that the scheme is we don't get into
- 22:05Speaker 10: the scheme so much. Is more situationally, what do we
- 22:08Speaker 10: want to see as it relates to first, second, third, third,
- 22:11Speaker 10: and long. Maybe we're going to be in a no
- 22:13Speaker 10: huddle period or you know, how do you want to
- 22:16Speaker 10: operate or we'll be on the ball. Let's get some
- 22:20Speaker 10: red zone in, Let's get some red zone seven on seven.
- 22:23Speaker 10: You know the quarterback can can look to us first
- 22:26Speaker 10: read got to get the ball out or probably extend
- 22:29Speaker 10: the play, which is realistic in pro football in the
- 22:32Speaker 10: red zone.
- 22:33Speaker 12: Like the guys that you know, their ticket to make
- 22:36Speaker 12: the roster be on special teams.
- 22:38Speaker 1: You just mentioned Larry Zoe.
- 22:39Speaker 12: Are there Larry Izzo qualities that you look for when
- 22:42Speaker 12: you're looking at special teams guys?
- 22:45Speaker 10: Well, our passion for playing football, competitive spirit production, I
- 22:50Speaker 10: think would.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Be the biggest thing.
- 22:52Speaker 10: Understanding speed and space and blocking angles and you know it,
- 22:57Speaker 10: it's a skill and it's an art and certainly Larry
- 23:00Speaker 10: uh did it as well as anybody, So I would
- 23:04Speaker 10: say that the competitive spirit would probably be at the
- 23:07Speaker 10: at the top of the list of looking for adjectives
- 23:10Speaker 10: to describe Larry.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you.
- 23:16Speaker 3: All right.
- 23:17Speaker 2: That was Mike Rabel and uh he addressed the media
- 23:23Speaker 2: and like we thought, uh, there was the question about
- 23:26Speaker 2: are you gonna, you know, talk with Dan quinn and
- 23:29Speaker 2: come up with certain scenarios and yeah, and so uh good,
- 23:33Speaker 2: I mean we we said we actually saw it.
- 23:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I don't know if that's the first time they talked
- 23:37Speaker 2: about practice, but certainly they were going over things that
- 23:40Speaker 2: they were expecting to see out in the field before practice.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:44Speaker 7: Also Dan Kuinn said Terry mcclorin did not make the
- 23:47Speaker 7: trip for anyone who was interested, not that we expected
- 23:48Speaker 7: to see him practice anyway, but and also Mike Brabel
- 23:52Speaker 7: said no life tackling today, So just something to note.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I would expect that. I mean, we've seen a
- 23:58Speaker 2: lot of joint practice. Is we've never seen bringing people
- 24:01Speaker 2: to the ground. Well yeah, all fights, but not that
- 24:05Speaker 2: they wanted. Yeah, not not intentionally right. Uh, as you
- 24:11Speaker 2: can see Drake may is warming up out on the field.
- 24:15Speaker 7: I just thought it was interesting too that Brabel kind
- 24:17Speaker 7: of mentioned how Washington peaked at the end last year,
- 24:20Speaker 7: you know, to help get them into the playoffs and
- 24:22Speaker 7: make a little bit of a run there. And that's
- 24:24Speaker 7: something I think he's very aware of. I mean, I know,
- 24:26Speaker 7: you know, yesterday Greg but Our said he thought there
- 24:29Speaker 7: was a light pract one of the lightest practices training
- 24:31Speaker 7: camps he's ever seen. Uh, you know, maybe that's connected
- 24:34Speaker 7: to Rabel's philosophy of managing some of these guys. We've
- 24:37Speaker 7: seen extensive plans with that, talked about Morgan Moses's plan.
- 24:40Speaker 7: So I think we're just getting to know Mike Brabil
- 24:42Speaker 7: as a coach now and a little bit of the
- 24:44Speaker 7: ins and outs what he believes, especially here in training camp.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Yeah, so as we uh wait to get you know,
- 24:50Speaker 2: some of the drills going, I will say the place
- 24:52Speaker 2: is packed.
- 24:53Speaker 5: There's a lot of people. There's a lot of people
- 24:55Speaker 5: coming up the ramps. Yeah, you know, to our right.
- 24:57Speaker 5: And it's typical for a joint practice. I mean, the
- 25:01Speaker 5: weather is really conducive for it. It's not oppressively hot.
- 25:04Speaker 5: It's a it's a nice, nice day, not not a
- 25:07Speaker 5: really hot day. And I'm looking at the stands behind you, Freddy,
- 25:11Speaker 5: they look like they're pretty pretty packed in.
- 25:13Speaker 4: The hill looks like it's pretty packed in.
- 25:15Speaker 2: So we see a steady stream of people coming.
- 25:19Speaker 3: So, uh, I don't know, thirty forty thousand, maybe.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Thirty five let's go, let's call it thirty five thousand.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Okay, conservatively, Okay, Yeah, no, I mean listen, it's a Wednesday.
- 25:30Speaker 2: It's a beautiful day, a little overcast, but it's perfect
- 25:33Speaker 2: for uh football practice.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Uh so why not. It's free, bring the kids, find
- 25:39Speaker 3: a place.
- 25:40Speaker 6: It's a great time.
- 25:41Speaker 5: Yeah, we're gonna go to one day. We've been saying
- 25:44Speaker 5: since the spring. This is the day that you would pick,
- 25:46Speaker 5: you know, the joint practice day. So there'll be a
- 25:49Speaker 5: lot of different things to keep an eye on, you know,
- 25:51Speaker 5: like we talked about one on ones and what that
- 25:53Speaker 5: might mean for linemen and for receivers and backs, and
- 25:57Speaker 5: then we talk about seven on seven in the red zone.
- 25:59Speaker 5: You just or might be able to talk about that
- 26:01Speaker 5: a little bit. And you know how it you know,
- 26:05Speaker 5: quickens up the pace the clock for the quarterback. You
- 26:07Speaker 5: almost always have to move, you know, down in the
- 26:09Speaker 5: red zone when you're doing even seven on seven. So
- 26:13Speaker 5: you know, to see some of those things, see some
- 26:14Speaker 5: of the reactions that there should be a lot to.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Watch, absolutely, and I think so after this obviously there
- 26:22Speaker 2: won't There'll probably be a walk through tomorrow, but it
- 26:24Speaker 2: won't be open to the public. And then we have
- 26:26Speaker 2: the preseason game on Friday. Players will be off on Saturday,
- 26:29Speaker 2: as they typically are after a game. There'll be a
- 26:32Speaker 2: public practice on Sunday. So is that your last opportunity
- 26:37Speaker 2: if you want to come down and watch a practice, correct, Yeah,
- 26:40Speaker 2: so that's it Sunday.
- 26:42Speaker 3: This boy, this went fast, huh. It came fast and
- 26:45Speaker 3: it went fast.
- 26:46Speaker 8: Yeah, there'll be a few more practices open to the
- 26:49Speaker 8: media for us, but.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I'm talking about the public. Yeah, that's it.
- 26:52Speaker 8: We'll be out here until the end of preseason week
- 26:55Speaker 8: number three. Yeah, so we'll have a few more for
- 26:58Speaker 8: you that we can talk about and tell you what's
- 27:00Speaker 8: going on. But Sunday is the last chance for the public.
- 27:05Speaker 3: So the Patriots will be in blue today.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, all blue for the Patriots, you see, not
- 27:11Speaker 5: just not just the defense.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Yeah, you see Pop Douglas and mccollins and some of
- 27:17Speaker 2: the other wide receivers kind of warming up in their blues.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Is it's kind of weird because they've been in white
- 27:22Speaker 2: every day and the defense is in blue.
- 27:24Speaker 3: But now we're one team. We're back to one team.
- 27:27Speaker 4: We're all one.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Patriots United. We are all Patriots, and so there
- 27:32Speaker 2: is there. They're gotta be wearing their blues.
- 27:36Speaker 7: Well, a big day for this guy right here, Pop Douglas,
- 27:38Speaker 7: who's had a really good camp, showing off his arm,
- 27:41Speaker 7: showing off his arm a little bit. Well, he tried
- 27:43Speaker 7: to show it off in the stadium. He should he
- 27:48Speaker 7: probably should have ate that one and threw it out
- 27:50Speaker 7: of bounds. But you know the other guy, I want to
- 27:52Speaker 7: talk about right next to those MATC Collins, which, no,
- 27:54Speaker 7: I'm not going to talk about his hanging shirt, Paul,
- 27:56Speaker 7: don't worry, but I do want to say, you know,
- 27:59Speaker 7: when we were out in Vain, and I brought it
- 28:00Speaker 7: up a couple of times, like I was enamored with
- 28:02Speaker 7: DeVante Adams and him and Hunter Renfro were obviously the
- 28:05Speaker 7: engines of that offense, but I just was impressed with
- 28:08Speaker 7: seeing mac Collins on the field that I remember, you know,
- 28:10Speaker 7: just watching him a little bit and saying, man, he
- 28:12Speaker 7: seems like a really good compliment to these two other
- 28:14Speaker 7: guys going and looking. I mean, he's kind of bounced
- 28:16Speaker 7: around the league, and at that point, he kind of
- 28:18Speaker 7: bounced around the league. But I think everybody took note
- 28:20Speaker 7: when he came back last week off of pup that
- 28:23Speaker 7: he was kind of right in the mix. And I
- 28:25Speaker 7: continue to think that he is somebody that we're not
- 28:28Speaker 7: really mentioning enough. That is that I think Josh McDaniels
- 28:31Speaker 7: has a real plan for both special teams and maybe
- 28:34Speaker 7: some special spots on offense. But he's got some size,
- 28:37Speaker 7: he's got some experience. Loved the leadership that he brought.
- 28:40Speaker 7: I think he's a real wild card in that room.
- 28:42Speaker 8: Yeah, I just wonder, like, where's the line of taking
- 28:45Speaker 8: the reps from the younger guys, because I can tell
- 28:48Speaker 8: you right now there's going to be a lot of
- 28:49Speaker 8: people that if Mac collins is taking reps from Kyle Williams,
- 28:53Speaker 8: they're not going to be happy about that. And either
- 28:55Speaker 8: there's Kyle Williams or Booty or if they keep Javon Baker, like,
- 29:00Speaker 8: those guys have more ceiling, they have more potential. So
- 29:04Speaker 8: I agree with you that mccollins I think is going
- 29:07Speaker 8: to be here and have a role. But is it
- 29:11Speaker 8: depends on how you want to look at it. I
- 29:12Speaker 8: suppose whether or not that's a good thing that he's
- 29:15Speaker 8: going to be getting reps over Kyle Williams, I think
- 29:18Speaker 8: is probably the biggest Well.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I mean, listen, when we talk about young guys getting reps,
- 29:24Speaker 2: we talked about will Campbell and Wilson. They're gonna get
- 29:27Speaker 2: reps over veterans, but they're better. Yeah, Okay, I would
- 29:32Speaker 2: say the same thing for wide receiver. If Kyle Williams
- 29:36Speaker 2: right now is better than Mac Collins, I don't think
- 29:38Speaker 2: he is at this point. And we need to get
- 29:41Speaker 2: this offense rolling we need to, you know, get it
- 29:44Speaker 2: going early as much as possible. So in that case,
- 29:47Speaker 2: I want the best wide receivers out there. I'm not
- 29:50Speaker 2: worried about young guys getting reps and getting developed. I
- 29:54Speaker 2: want guys that can function in this offense. For Drake
- 29:59Speaker 2: Man to be able to execute.
- 30:01Speaker 8: Yeah, that's more than fair. I just know that that's
- 30:04Speaker 8: not how a lot of fans are going to look
- 30:05Speaker 8: at it from the outside looking in, because they want
- 30:08Speaker 8: the potential and they want the upside of the younger players.
- 30:11Speaker 3: And that's all.
- 30:11Speaker 8: That's all I'm saying, is you know, I think that
- 30:14Speaker 8: it's a hard sell to say that we're gonna have
- 30:16Speaker 8: a journeyman like Mac collins play over the guy that
- 30:19Speaker 8: we just drafted sixty ninth overall and has some potential,
- 30:23Speaker 8: that's all.
- 30:23Speaker 4: And I just wonder where that line is, you know.
- 30:26Speaker 8: And I was also thinking about this and as it
- 30:28Speaker 8: relates to Kendrick Bourne too, like do you you know
- 30:30Speaker 8: they're not exactly the same type of receiver, But if
- 30:33Speaker 8: you already have the mccollins of like if Kyle Williams
- 30:36Speaker 8: is not quite ready, or if Kayshawn Booty is not
- 30:39Speaker 8: taking that next step you have the steady veteran that
- 30:42Speaker 8: you can put in there.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Do you really need.
- 30:43Speaker 8: Two of those kinds of guys with Kendrick Bourne and
- 30:47Speaker 8: Mac Collins or like, does that allow does mac Collins'
- 30:51Speaker 8: involvement allow you the freedom to keep a Chisholm, to
- 30:55Speaker 8: keep a Baker, to keep a Polk as sort of
- 30:57Speaker 8: a developmental player on the right.
- 31:00Speaker 7: Yeah, it's so clear how much more Mac Hollins would
- 31:02Speaker 7: kind of do than Kendrick Born would overall on the roster,
- 31:05Speaker 7: you know, just in terms of special teams, in terms
- 31:07Speaker 7: of being a little bit different within that wide receiver room.
- 31:10Speaker 7: I think you make a great point of It's it's
- 31:11Speaker 7: really just a question of you know, I don't know
- 31:13Speaker 7: if Kyle Williams looks ready to jump in, you know
- 31:16Speaker 7: and take a big role right out of the gate,
- 31:18Speaker 7: So you know, you do I see it as to start,
- 31:21Speaker 7: You've got Booty who's had a strong camp, continues to
- 31:24Speaker 7: contribute on the outside, stretches the field a little bit
- 31:26Speaker 7: in Hollands, so you know, you mix and match those
- 31:28Speaker 7: guys a little bit, but absolutely you got to give
- 31:30Speaker 7: Kyle Williams every opportunity to work his way in and
- 31:33Speaker 7: you know, if he can bring an element of explosive
- 31:36Speaker 7: downfield playmaking, which I think is a little bit limited,
- 31:39Speaker 7: like EEV said with with Hollands and Booty, then that
- 31:42Speaker 7: could really take this offense to the next level.
- 31:44Speaker 2: No, I agree with that, everything being even, I always
- 31:46Speaker 2: go for the younger guy, you know, get them in there.
- 31:49Speaker 3: But I don't think it's even right now.
- 31:50Speaker 7: No, And I mean it's about you know, it's a
- 31:52Speaker 7: long season two and you want to make sure. I mean,
- 31:54Speaker 7: I just I mean, the easiest comparison to make is
- 31:56Speaker 7: to Javon Baker, who you know, I think Mac Hollins is,
- 31:59Speaker 7: he is what he is, but he's a picture of
- 32:01Speaker 7: consistency in what he does. So you know, maybe that's
- 32:04Speaker 7: an example of somebody like Jaymon Baker where it might
- 32:06Speaker 7: be a little bit more feast or famine up and
- 32:08Speaker 7: down that he can find some of that steadiness that
- 32:11Speaker 7: Mac Collins is trying to pass along to those younger guys.
- 32:13Speaker 2: But you know what, you know, having said what I
- 32:17Speaker 2: just said, I still would love to see whenever they
- 32:20Speaker 2: can get Kyle Williams in there, you know, get it,
- 32:23Speaker 2: get him some reps. Sure, you know I'm talking about
- 32:26Speaker 2: during the regular season. Uh so we're seeing uh, Matt Collins,
- 32:31Speaker 2: and I mean.
- 32:32Speaker 7: He looks the far I just looking at him, I'm like,
- 32:34Speaker 7: this guy's a beast, like you know, I mean, I
- 32:36Speaker 7: know he is what he is.
- 32:37Speaker 6: But at the same time, it's a nice place.
- 32:39Speaker 8: And I'm not trying to dump on Matt Collins. There's
- 32:41Speaker 8: nothing against him whatsoever. I just I know how the
- 32:45Speaker 8: mind of the fan works and that they want to
- 32:47Speaker 8: see the young guys, they want to see the rookie,
- 32:49Speaker 8: they want to see the second year guys, pull Baker, Chisholm,
- 32:53Speaker 8: Yep Williams.
- 32:54Speaker 4: But you know what Matt Collins is. We don't know
- 32:56Speaker 4: what Kyle Williams is. Kyle Williams.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Williams may have Larren, he might have a bigger ceiling
- 33:01Speaker 5: and you know that That's what you know, people are
- 33:03Speaker 5: going to be wondering about now.
- 33:06Speaker 4: Based on you know, eleven days of camp.
- 33:08Speaker 5: I think it's been a little bit of a slow
- 33:10Speaker 5: uh you know, indoctrination for Kyle Waims.
- 33:12Speaker 4: I think he's he's flashed a little bit.
- 33:14Speaker 5: We've seen some big plays from him, but we've seen
- 33:16Speaker 5: other periods of time where he's been you know, just
- 33:19Speaker 5: sort of out there and not really showing up as much.
- 33:22Speaker 4: So I think there's some some talent there.
- 33:24Speaker 5: There's certainly, you know, a skill set that is intriguing,
- 33:28Speaker 5: but we want to see it on a more consistent basis.
- 33:30Speaker 8: I think the biggest thing with him right now is
- 33:32Speaker 8: the physicality at this level. Is he going to be
- 33:34Speaker 8: able to get off press coverage? Is he going to
- 33:37Speaker 8: be able to use his body to create separation at
- 33:40Speaker 8: the first two levels of the defense. He can run
- 33:42Speaker 8: by people on the outside, We've seen that already, but
- 33:45Speaker 8: is he gonna consistently be able to go out there
- 33:48Speaker 8: and finish through contact and get off physical coverage that
- 33:52Speaker 8: you're going to see at this level at his size
- 33:54Speaker 8: and at his just the build that he has, I
- 33:57Speaker 8: think is something.
- 33:58Speaker 4: That I've noticed.
- 33:59Speaker 8: Like the other day we you know DJ James, Like
- 34:01Speaker 8: you ran a little comeback route and DJ James is
- 34:03Speaker 8: just all over it and broke up the pass. You know,
- 34:06Speaker 8: like those types of things. You know, you got to
- 34:08Speaker 8: carve out space for yourself. You got to be able
- 34:10Speaker 8: to get open at the top of the route, like
- 34:12Speaker 8: you have to figure out ways to use your body
- 34:14Speaker 8: and your physicality to also win at this level along
- 34:17Speaker 8: with your speed, so.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Are the commanders on the lower field were going to
- 34:21Speaker 2: warm up separate there in the park.
- 34:25Speaker 8: I like when they do that because then you kind
- 34:26Speaker 8: of come together and it's like a It's like a
- 34:28Speaker 8: moment entered thunder.
- 34:29Speaker 4: The West Side story.
- 34:30Speaker 6: Yeah, don't you remember in Green I love that as
- 34:34Speaker 6: my favorite.
- 34:35Speaker 4: God, it was like you were entering the college.
- 34:37Speaker 6: Right, They're just waiting for it.
- 34:38Speaker 4: It's crazy. Yeah, it was insane.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Yea.
- 34:42Speaker 6: I have a question for you.
- 34:43Speaker 7: Did you feel like Williams could have done maybe come
- 34:46Speaker 7: back to the ball a little bit more on that
- 34:47Speaker 7: final interception and in stadium, you know, we talked about
- 34:50Speaker 7: Drake probably not throwing the ball with Alex Austin sitting
- 34:54Speaker 7: on that route, but I kind of felt too part
- 34:56Speaker 7: of it might have been Kyle Williams needing to come
- 34:58Speaker 7: back to the ball.
- 34:59Speaker 8: Yeah, maybe a compete, Yeah, maybe come back for the ball,
- 35:02Speaker 8: or even just like sell the fade a little bit
- 35:04Speaker 8: more to get him to have to bail out and
- 35:07Speaker 8: bite on it, or even just like this is a
- 35:09Speaker 8: manute that I would never know if it was the
- 35:11Speaker 8: case or not, but like, is he writing the right.
- 35:14Speaker 4: Depth of the route?
- 35:15Speaker 8: Right, you know, they like get him off all these
- 35:17Speaker 8: little things, Like I just wonder if he's clearly fast
- 35:22Speaker 8: and he's clearly explosive and talented in that regard. I
- 35:25Speaker 8: just to play every single down in the NFL, you
- 35:28Speaker 8: have to be on the p's and q's at all
- 35:30Speaker 8: times and all those little things. Because if you're supposed
- 35:33Speaker 8: to break off your route at eight yards and you
- 35:36Speaker 8: break it off at ten, that's pick six going the
- 35:39Speaker 8: other way.
- 35:39Speaker 4: Like, that's how it works at this level.
- 35:41Speaker 5: And it's easy to look at a play like that.
- 35:43Speaker 5: We all watched him, are like, man, you know, what
- 35:45Speaker 5: does Drake may do?
- 35:46Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 35:46Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, he threw the ball right to Alex Austin.
- 35:49Speaker 5: But you just brought up five different scenarios, Evan that
- 35:53Speaker 5: any one of which could have been a much more
- 35:56Speaker 5: mitigating factor as to why that play happened, and none
- 35:58Speaker 5: of them really had anything to do with Drake May.
- 36:00Speaker 5: Now doesn't mean he should have thrown the ball, and
- 36:03Speaker 5: doesn't mean it's a good play by the quarterback by
- 36:05Speaker 5: any means. But it might have been a bad route,
- 36:08Speaker 5: it might not have been at the right depth, it
- 36:10Speaker 5: might have been not selling something something.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Didn't want his quarterback throwing a flat foolat footed corners, right, which.
- 36:17Speaker 8: Makes you think that it was probably more on the
- 36:19Speaker 8: quarterback than it was on the receiver. But we would
- 36:22Speaker 8: never know these little things because we're not in the
- 36:25Speaker 8: playbook and we're not in the film rooms, in the
- 36:27Speaker 8: in the practice meetings and all that kind of stuff.
- 36:29Speaker 8: So I just wonder where that that goes.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Sounds to me the rabel's putting it on both of them. Yeah,
- 36:34Speaker 2: the receiver was flat footed and may should have corner.
- 36:38Speaker 2: The corner was flat throw it to a flat footed corner.
- 36:41Speaker 2: That means he's sitting on the.
- 36:42Speaker 8: Round, Like, maybe you just got to he had to
- 36:46Speaker 8: sell the route a little bit better. Like that's a
- 36:48Speaker 8: coaching point for Kyle Williams. We're talking about the receivers
- 36:51Speaker 8: in the media tent down there, saying that Stefan Diggs
- 36:55Speaker 8: is not on the field.
- 36:55Speaker 5: I haven't them off yet, but that doesn't mean he's
- 36:59Speaker 5: not out.
- 36:59Speaker 4: There, So I don't.
- 37:00Speaker 8: I don't know if he's not going to be participating
- 37:03Speaker 8: in this prize today or not, but as of right now,
- 37:05Speaker 8: he is not out there and practice has started, right,
- 37:09Speaker 8: we're past that.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Well, that's disappointing. Yes, definitely.
- 37:13Speaker 7: But at the same time, us like Carlton Davis is
- 37:15Speaker 7: out here in pads. He's been mostly a walk through participant,
- 37:18Speaker 7: but he's amping up the That's a good developation a
- 37:21Speaker 7: little bit. But I am curious about Diggs.
- 37:25Speaker 6: Got to keep him under rap.
- 37:26Speaker 8: Maybe that's what it is, Deuce. I'm gonna take the
- 37:29Speaker 8: glass out full view on that, but.
- 37:30Speaker 6: He don't get to see what we're doing with digs yet.
- 37:32Speaker 8: He's been out there for every practice so far. There's
- 37:35Speaker 8: been no signs that anything with the knee or anything
- 37:38Speaker 8: like that of any setbacks whatsoever. Yesterday was a walkthrough
- 37:42Speaker 8: and he was here. Yeah, so it's not like he
- 37:44Speaker 8: did anything physical yesterday that that would have knocked him
- 37:47Speaker 8: off the field.
- 37:48Speaker 5: Might just be as simple as they don't want to
- 37:50Speaker 5: subject him to any possibility of contact yet, right, you know,
- 37:53Speaker 5: it could be a very simple I did.
- 37:55Speaker 6: I did catch a video of him yesterday walking out
- 37:57Speaker 6: of five.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Guys here, and I did I did see that.
- 38:00Speaker 7: So maybe he got himself a you know, a double burger,
- 38:03Speaker 7: and he's digesting it.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Well, maybe it's like, well, if you're not gonna have
- 38:06Speaker 3: mclorin out there, then we're not going to have right right.
- 38:09Speaker 8: It's always funny when you see those videos though, because
- 38:12Speaker 8: it's like very clearly Patriot place. We all can recognize
- 38:15Speaker 8: it right off the stars.
- 38:17Speaker 6: They're just like us. Yeah, wants a giant trough fries? Yeah, trough,
- 38:23Speaker 6: just take the whole fry later with you.
- 38:25Speaker 3: They do have good fries, they do, they do, Freddy,
- 38:28Speaker 3: I agree.
- 38:29Speaker 6: Still like in and out more, still like in and out?
- 38:32Speaker 4: Really fries, well done, they're coming, I heard.
- 38:35Speaker 6: Yeah, we're moving slowly east naturally.
- 38:38Speaker 4: One of the more overrated experiences I've ever had.
- 38:42Speaker 1: There.
- 38:42Speaker 3: We go.
- 38:43Speaker 4: It was fine, It was just fine.
- 38:45Speaker 7: He didn't get an animal style bad take.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Yeah, the fans just keep piling in here.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say five guys falls into that category. Two.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Just one of the more overrated experiences I've ever had.
- 38:59Speaker 5: Apparently, you don't need people to just talk about these
- 39:02Speaker 5: places like it's a good burger as opposed to tell
- 39:05Speaker 5: me my life is.
- 39:06Speaker 8: I know, I know everybody is like, why are we
- 39:09Speaker 8: talking about burgers? This is why watching this whenever, because
- 39:14Speaker 8: I you know, Deuse and I both lived out in California,
- 39:16Speaker 8: so we've had in and out a ton and I.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Always say to everybody it's a fast food burger. Like,
- 39:22Speaker 4: don't the way it was described to me initially, maybe
- 39:25Speaker 4: I wouldn't feel.
- 39:25Speaker 8: Because everybody does what Paul is saying, and I'm saying,
- 39:29Speaker 8: it's just better than McDonald's and all the other fast
- 39:33Speaker 8: food burgers.
- 39:33Speaker 4: It's not like it's like and I would agree with this.
- 39:36Speaker 3: We have any sponsors here that we have to worry about.
- 39:39Speaker 4: See who we can offend you.
- 39:40Speaker 7: I'll keep it if you guys allow me a quick
- 39:43Speaker 7: thirty second story. I went with Paul last week for
- 39:46Speaker 7: the first time to read Robin, which you know Paul,
- 39:48Speaker 7: he goes to Red Rob every Friday. And it was
- 39:52Speaker 7: like I was walking into Cheers with Norman Cliff Clay.
- 39:55Speaker 7: They're like Paul, they walk in, the drinks are already
- 39:59Speaker 7: put down. Everybody gets it's an appetizer fry. I've never
- 40:01Speaker 7: seen that before.
- 40:02Speaker 4: They're like, it's not advertiser fries, and so grow up.
- 40:06Speaker 7: And so they have their weight, their waiter, who's their
- 40:08Speaker 7: guy who hooks them up?
- 40:10Speaker 6: I mean, and why they didn't know what deal to use.
- 40:12Speaker 6: I mean it was that I didn't realize their.
- 40:14Speaker 7: Celebrity have a s oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, wow
- 40:17Speaker 7: they were like, dude, don't go in first.
- 40:19Speaker 6: We gotta go first, so we can, you.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Know, And everyone's like, hey, Norm, you know that's.
- 40:23Speaker 6: Exactly what it felt like.
- 40:24Speaker 5: Oh that's funny, which I guess finance.
- 40:27Speaker 6: I knew he went there every Friday forever.
- 40:29Speaker 7: I just didn't realize the extent that the welcoming community
- 40:33Speaker 7: of Red Robin were huge fans of of Paul and should.
- 40:36Speaker 4: I continue to tea Red Robin also overrated?
- 40:40Speaker 6: It was a pretty good burger.
- 40:41Speaker 4: You're just killing You're killing all the sponsors.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Is there any place that you've been to Paul that said, Wow,
- 40:47Speaker 3: this really lived up to.
- 40:48Speaker 2: The radurg rated, really lived up to the hype.
- 40:52Speaker 4: That's a good question, Fred. I'm gonna have to give that.
- 40:55Speaker 4: I don't want to. I don't want to just like
- 40:56Speaker 4: flippant weight come up with you. Sure, Okay, I will say,
- 40:59Speaker 4: like they the spring rolls at Davio's.
- 41:02Speaker 5: I had heard about, oh steak, Yeah, and they lived
- 41:06Speaker 5: up to it.
- 41:07Speaker 4: Okay, that's a very very specific answer to that.
- 41:09Speaker 8: But so we got the owner walking on the field
- 41:13Speaker 8: with the special guest. I believe it might be our house.
- 41:18Speaker 6: Oh, John bond Jovi, there you go.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Oh really, let's go.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Maybe we can get eyes on that whoever's operating camera.
- 41:26Speaker 6: Yeah, they're walking right out of the tunnel right now.
- 41:28Speaker 4: I heard we're halfway there camp right. Well, Oh I
- 41:34Speaker 4: got more, I have more. I got a lot more.
- 41:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I wanted dead or alive. Yeah, blood on blood,
- 41:41Speaker 7: I mean just I celebrate his whole catalog, to be honest.
- 41:45Speaker 4: The other one, you and my wife.
- 41:48Speaker 7: Those are my first two CDs I ever bought. We're
- 41:50Speaker 7: still free one wet in New Jersey.
- 41:51Speaker 3: I know it's sacrilegious around here, but it was never.
- 41:53Speaker 6: A big no.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know the songs, but yeah, kind of
- 41:59Speaker 2: a chick ban huh.
- 42:01Speaker 4: My wife loves him, that's fair. I mean, there's nothing
- 42:04Speaker 4: wrong with that. Though.
- 42:05Speaker 7: When they played they did all be There for You
- 42:07Speaker 7: was our seventh grade dance theme song, and that just
- 42:10Speaker 7: you know that memories, you know, taking me back.
- 42:13Speaker 5: He has a very specific example of his childhood for everything.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Here we are for everything.
- 42:19Speaker 7: It's definite, like dancing with your seventh grade not your girlfriend,
- 42:22Speaker 7: just your friend that you weren't with.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I'll tell you he's like seventy years old.
- 42:24Speaker 4: He looks great.
- 42:25Speaker 3: He looks great, you know.
- 42:28Speaker 13: Son have to see if I can get run of
- 42:31Speaker 13: one of those creep picks for for Beth later, like
- 42:35Speaker 13: your boy was here today, here you go.
- 42:37Speaker 8: I do like Living on a Prayer is a really
- 42:40Speaker 8: good stadium song, Like you get the crowds.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Especially when he's here in the suite and you can
- 42:47Speaker 2: show him singing along with the fans.
- 42:49Speaker 4: Which which playoff run was that they all blend together.
- 42:53Speaker 6: There's so many of them.
- 42:54Speaker 4: I taught you, well, yeah, that's exactly how you did.
- 42:56Speaker 8: There was one playoff run I remember in particular where
- 42:59Speaker 8: I think they it was a divisional round game, and
- 43:02Speaker 8: they were kareaming whoever they were playing, and it was
- 43:05Speaker 8: like we're halfway there, like to the you.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Know, to the Super Bowl, probably the Colts, I don't
- 43:09Speaker 4: remember which one it was. That him in the in
- 43:14Speaker 4: the owner's box.
- 43:15Speaker 8: Singing it is that Blount Blount.
- 43:21Speaker 2: I'm still learning, all right. So that's that. Let's uh,
- 43:25Speaker 2: we've seen them. We can probably go back to watching
- 43:29Speaker 2: players now.
- 43:29Speaker 7: I think I see Donnie Amandola down there, Diana Rossini.
- 43:33Speaker 6: There's a cast of thousands of stars.
- 43:35Speaker 4: Now, maybe Danny A.
- 43:36Speaker 8: Mondola in Chisholm might have a little conversation later because
- 43:40Speaker 8: Spider Man, that is the receiver that Josh McDaniels made
- 43:44Speaker 8: a cut up of for Chisholm to watch was not Edelman,
- 43:49Speaker 8: It wasn't Welkert, was actually Danny A.
- 43:50Speaker 4: Mendola.
- 43:51Speaker 8: So he seems like there's a comp there for for
- 43:55Speaker 8: Josh like that that's the one that he sees the most.
- 43:58Speaker 6: Is gonna will this intox just for Paul, like.
- 44:01Speaker 8: I want him to make the team, and I want
- 44:04Speaker 8: him to be good, just so that I want him
- 44:06Speaker 8: to be good too.
- 44:07Speaker 4: No, no, the team, No, don't don't go. Don't do
- 44:10Speaker 4: that whole thing.
- 44:11Speaker 5: I just don't want to see what I've seen for
- 44:12Speaker 5: eleven days and have him make the team.
- 44:15Speaker 4: The dropping the endstadium practice.
- 44:17Speaker 3: There he is.
- 44:19Speaker 6: Right, he's looking good. He's got the cut off thing.
- 44:23Speaker 6: He's very fashionable. I guess that's probably a look now.
- 44:26Speaker 4: Hi, Hi Danny.
- 44:28Speaker 2: He's got the uh what do you call those types
- 44:30Speaker 2: of glasses, crystal glasses?
- 44:33Speaker 7: I thought you were gonna say, like a baja like
- 44:35Speaker 7: one of those things they wear, you know, the bajas cardo.
- 44:38Speaker 3: But you know, the thing.
- 44:39Speaker 2: The thing about guys like Edelman and Amondola it's it's yes,
- 44:45Speaker 2: technically they were so sound, but they were also clutch,
- 44:49Speaker 2: like the moment didn't scare them. In fact, they they
- 44:52Speaker 2: almost got better in the big moments. And I don't
- 44:55Speaker 2: know if he can teach that. Yeah, I don't know
- 44:57Speaker 2: if that you can teach that.
- 44:58Speaker 5: But that that that led to up Dronkowski, you know,
- 45:01Speaker 5: with the great nickname that he came up with, playoff Danny.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Playoff Danny playoff very imagine.
- 45:06Speaker 2: You know.
- 45:06Speaker 3: And it's it's not about the amount of catches that
- 45:09Speaker 3: they have. He when.
- 45:12Speaker 4: Was the epitome of that guy.
- 45:14Speaker 5: He didn't have a lot of volume, but every time
- 45:16Speaker 5: he made a catch, it was important.
- 45:18Speaker 8: Right because I was gonna say, like Edelman was kind
- 45:19Speaker 8: of both. He had the volume. That's why he's going
- 45:22Speaker 8: into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Ammondola was like that
- 45:25Speaker 8: that the clutches, like the catch against the Jaguars and
- 45:27Speaker 8: the ANFC Championship games.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Such an underrated catch. Yeah, it stands out.
- 45:31Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, we were rolling, you know, the Patriots
- 45:34Speaker 3: were rolling and the Jaguars are giving them everything they
- 45:37Speaker 3: could give him on that day they came really close
- 45:40Speaker 3: to losing that game.
- 45:41Speaker 8: He caught the touchdown and the fourth down catch too
- 45:46Speaker 8: stop he caught he caught the fourth down catch too right,
- 45:49Speaker 8: Paul the it was like fourth and like twelve. They
- 45:51Speaker 8: had to convert it near the middle of the field.
- 45:53Speaker 8: I think Ammadola in cut over the middle of the field,
- 45:56Speaker 8: I think was what moved the chains.
- 45:59Speaker 5: Rember, I'm the one to one in the end zone
- 46:02Speaker 5: zone was that was special.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Like the game winning touchdown was just unbelievable.
- 46:07Speaker 2: And Gronk is another guy that the moment didn't scare him.
- 46:11Speaker 2: You know, his abilities were so good that it gave
- 46:15Speaker 2: him the confidence in any moment to just execute.
- 46:18Speaker 6: Do you give that credit?
- 46:19Speaker 7: And I mean, I know we give tom Brady a
- 46:20Speaker 7: lot of credit, but do you give some of that
- 46:22Speaker 7: credit to Tom Brady? Just you have that belief in
- 46:25Speaker 7: him and therefore you just you don't doubt. You know,
- 46:28Speaker 7: if you have there's three seconds left on the clock
- 46:31Speaker 7: and you're within striking distance, that you've got a chance.
- 46:33Speaker 2: And you know, it puts you on alert because they know,
- 46:36Speaker 2: in a big moment, if I'm open, if I run
- 46:38Speaker 2: my rounte and I do what I'm supposed to do,
- 46:40Speaker 2: the ball's coming to me. And so like you know,
- 46:43Speaker 2: expect it.
- 46:43Speaker 7: Yeah, And then that's why I tied it to what
- 46:45Speaker 7: I said about Drake at the top of the show, like,
- 46:47Speaker 7: start to inspire that confidence in your guys a little
- 46:49Speaker 7: bit today. I mean, it's a joint practice. He's not
- 46:51Speaker 7: gonna change the trajectory of his career with a great,
- 46:54Speaker 7: you know, last drill today. But I just think that's
- 46:56Speaker 7: a cumulative thing. And when he starts to make plays
- 46:58Speaker 7: down the end and the competitive periods and guys start
- 47:01Speaker 7: to believe, and then.
- 47:02Speaker 6: You know, you really start to pick up some momentum
- 47:03Speaker 6: for the offense, you.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Know, and you know, getting back to the quarterback, that
- 47:07Speaker 2: comes back to a lot of times we're like, you know,
- 47:09Speaker 2: throw the ball, just get rid of it, even if
- 47:11Speaker 2: it's not perfect.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Just play the play, you know, play the play through.
- 47:16Speaker 2: And if it turns out to be a pick or
- 47:19Speaker 2: guy's not in the right place and the ball hits
- 47:21Speaker 2: the ground. So what get used to running the play
- 47:24Speaker 2: as it's written up, as it's drawn up.
- 47:27Speaker 8: That comes back to the I think the biggest thing
- 47:29Speaker 8: with those types of routes that those guys would run
- 47:31Speaker 8: was the anticipation. Yeah, you know, Brady just knowing how
- 47:35Speaker 8: to read their body language, seeing the coverage the same way,
- 47:39Speaker 8: those conversations year over year every year. You know this
- 47:42Speaker 8: corner does that, I'm gonna throw it here. If he
- 47:44Speaker 8: does this, I'm gonna throw it there. The throw in
- 47:47Speaker 8: Super Bowl fifty one to Ammondola or is it Hogan
- 47:50Speaker 8: on the sideline there.
- 47:51Speaker 4: Got each of them, They got the cover, two.
- 47:53Speaker 8: Corners squatting and Brady just throws it right on the
- 47:55Speaker 8: inside shoulder and he knew exactly where the ball was going.
- 47:58Speaker 4: Like those types of things are.
- 48:00Speaker 8: I've seen a little bit of that brewing with Drake
- 48:03Speaker 8: and Pop Douglas, Like I think there's they're starting to
- 48:06Speaker 8: find that sort of rhythm, but that takes years and
- 48:09Speaker 8: years of repetition. That's not something that happens overnight or
- 48:12Speaker 8: even in one training camp Like that's that was Amandola, Edelman,
- 48:16Speaker 8: Gronk playing with Brady for a decade.
- 48:18Speaker 4: That that got them to that point.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Ye, So we see Drake under the watchful eye of
- 48:22Speaker 2: Josh McDaniel's in the background.
- 48:28Speaker 5: I don't know how you guys feel, but I feel
- 48:30Speaker 5: like Josh Dobbs has been a little bit better the
- 48:32Speaker 5: last couple of practices that we've seen him.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I thought he was.
- 48:35Speaker 5: I thought he struggled quite frankly, and the first several
- 48:38Speaker 5: practices that we saw, I thought there were a lot.
- 48:39Speaker 4: Of ears into traffic.
- 48:41Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think they've seen a little bit better
- 48:44Speaker 5: execution medium, you know, for him, you know, you have
- 48:47Speaker 5: to consider you know, like the system too, you know,
- 48:50Speaker 5: not not a ton of familiarity there, so you know,
- 48:53Speaker 5: maybe it did take him a little while. I think
- 48:55Speaker 5: he's been a little bit better the last couple of practices.
- 48:57Speaker 7: It was it you, Paul that said, I think you
- 48:58Speaker 7: just like you like the style of just let it rip.
- 49:00Speaker 7: If you're gonna be the backup, like just get in.
- 49:02Speaker 5: There and and and you know, especially in practice, like
- 49:04Speaker 5: Fred just said, you know, get on your back, food
- 49:07Speaker 5: and run a play, try to have some kind of
- 49:09Speaker 5: timing and rhythm to it.
- 49:10Speaker 4: And you know, it's practice. There's supposed to be mistakes, there's.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Supposed to be some you know, rough, rough patches, and
- 49:16Speaker 5: you know, he's a veteran, he's been around, perfectly capable backup.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:22Speaker 2: Okay, so we are actually in the last period that
- 49:24Speaker 2: we're allowed to show you. Uh so we're gonna be
- 49:27Speaker 2: wrapping up soon. But before we go, I have a
- 49:30Speaker 2: special guest. Just because you're watching this show, We're gonna
- 49:35Speaker 2: give you a little inside baseball, little uh little preview of.
- 49:39Speaker 3: What's gonna happen during the season.
- 49:42Speaker 2: And I don't know if we're ready here, Matt, Matt,
- 49:45Speaker 2: but we have a new host for our pre and
- 49:48Speaker 2: postgame show and her name is Claudia Bellafato.
- 49:52Speaker 3: There she is, Claudia, Say hello.
- 49:56Speaker 6: Hi, everybody.
- 49:57Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 49:58Speaker 9: I told Friday I wasn't I'm ready today, but he said,
- 50:01Speaker 9: I don't care.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel curve compared to us.
- 50:04Speaker 6: You're camera ready, Claudia.
- 50:06Speaker 4: I don't know if you know, but I'm always camera ready.
- 50:08Speaker 4: Oh you don't know.
- 50:09Speaker 9: How badly I wanted my mic on when they were
- 50:11Speaker 9: talking about red Drop all the places I had a
- 50:16Speaker 9: lot to say, real full season.
- 50:19Speaker 2: You're gonna have average, Yeah, you're gonna have You're gonna
- 50:21Speaker 2: have plenty of times I haven't seen there.
- 50:23Speaker 3: What are you talking about?
- 50:24Speaker 4: Only on Friday?
- 50:26Speaker 3: As long as you're nice to dunkin Donuts, I think
- 50:28Speaker 3: everything's fair game.
- 50:30Speaker 4: You don't want to get Kenny Keller on your case
- 50:34Speaker 4: all the time.
- 50:36Speaker 2: So Claudia, you are going to be the host this
- 50:38Speaker 2: year of our pre and post game show.
- 50:41Speaker 9: Yeah, very very excited. Grew up I'm a New England girl.
- 50:44Speaker 9: So anybody out there like, who is this lady? I
- 50:46Speaker 9: grew up in New England. I've been here for a
- 50:49Speaker 9: few years working at the stations out here. Patriots have
- 50:51Speaker 9: always and forever been my team. So very surreal. I
- 50:55Speaker 9: remember one day I was at the gym and you know,
- 50:57Speaker 9: I'm in between jobs, and I see an email from
- 51:00Speaker 9: Cursed and I'm like, hold on that, Fred, and he's like, hey,
- 51:03Speaker 9: we need o's for the Patriots. I call my parents,
- 51:05Speaker 9: I'm like, you'll never believe it, And of course they're
- 51:08Speaker 9: super thrilled, and yeah, we're gonna have a lot of fun.
- 51:10Speaker 3: I'm excited.
- 51:11Speaker 4: So your parents said, Fred.
- 51:13Speaker 9: Who My Dad's like, I know who that is.
- 51:16Speaker 3: Really, he's the one not to bull smoke. Friend.
- 51:20Speaker 4: Don't get too big of a head.
- 51:21Speaker 3: All right, So we've got about a minute left. Give
- 51:25Speaker 3: us your quick synopsis of what you're looking for this
- 51:28Speaker 3: year with this team.
- 51:29Speaker 9: Yeah, there's no way we can do any worse. I think,
- 51:32Speaker 9: you know, we talk win totals. I think eight wins
- 51:35Speaker 9: makes a lot of sense for this team. You look
- 51:36Speaker 9: at the the East in general, I think the teams
- 51:39Speaker 9: around them are much lesser. And we'll talk it at
- 51:42Speaker 9: length about Steph Diggs, but I think just having him
- 51:45Speaker 9: there and look at the competition he had when it
- 51:47Speaker 9: came to targets and with the Texans, and he's still
- 51:50Speaker 9: I think performed well there and just more weapons. You
- 51:53Speaker 9: guys can argue about what is, but they.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Have more to do that.
- 51:58Speaker 9: You know, we have a real tackle, We have a
- 52:01Speaker 9: right tackle. The on line in general should be better.
- 52:03Speaker 9: We spent all that money on the defense. So I'm
- 52:05Speaker 9: really excited about the Patriots in general.
- 52:07Speaker 4: I think Drake May is great.
- 52:09Speaker 9: I think this really is interesting to see what this
- 52:11Speaker 9: first preseason game him and you know, the rookie of
- 52:14Speaker 9: the year in Jade and Daniels. There's a big age
- 52:16Speaker 9: gap the same draft class, and yeah, I'm really excited
- 52:19Speaker 9: to get started here on Friday.
- 52:20Speaker 4: It's gonna be a good season out that age gap. Oh,
- 52:28Speaker 4: we'll talk about it.
- 52:30Speaker 3: I think I think Daniel says grandkids at this point.
- 52:32Speaker 9: I heard yeah, yeah, No, I mean fifth year and
- 52:36Speaker 9: he did a lot of L s U and his
- 52:37Speaker 9: fifth year, and I think that showed us what he
- 52:40Speaker 9: was going to give us in the NFL, but but
- 52:42Speaker 9: he over exceeded expectations, and so I don't know if
- 52:44Speaker 9: it's totally fair to compare him in Drake May. But
- 52:46Speaker 9: of course they're going to do that when you're in
- 52:48Speaker 9: the same class, all right, and yeah, I'm excited.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Well that's great. So that's gonna be it for uh,
- 52:54Speaker 2: this practice. We're gonna go down and watch the practice.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Induce in Paul and Evan, right, you'll.
- 53:01Speaker 6: Wrap up, we'll have them.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll wrap up everything you see in the training
- 53:05Speaker 2: camp cast, which will come out later today, So you know,
- 53:09Speaker 2: any all the opinions and analysis, you'll still get that
- 53:12Speaker 2: later today. But I just want to thank Claudia for
- 53:16Speaker 2: joining us again. This is a little sneak peek at
- 53:19Speaker 2: our new pre and postgame host. We'll make an official
- 53:22Speaker 2: announcement before the regular season, so you know, we'll blow
- 53:26Speaker 2: all that out with Claudia. But you know, I as
- 53:29Speaker 2: a thank you for watching this, I thought maybe we'd
- 53:31Speaker 2: give people a little inside information today, all right, Yeah,
- 53:35Speaker 2: a little inside baseball. So for Claudia, Evan, Paul, myself, Deuce,
- 53:40Speaker 2: everybody behind the scenes. I want to thank you for
- 53:43Speaker 2: watching today, we're gonna go and get down to practice. Uh,
- 53:47Speaker 2: stay tuned on Patriotsocial and Patriots dot com for all
- 53:50Speaker 2: the content that we're going to be putting out.
- 53:52Speaker 3: And when's the next time we'll be talking to people?
- 53:56Speaker 2: Well, the pregame show, right, if you have tomorrow tomorrow.
- 54:01Speaker 4: We'll have PU tomorrow, right yeah?
- 54:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, what am I saying?
- 54:04Speaker 4: I don't know? It was confused. I was like, are
- 54:06Speaker 4: we not doing?
- 54:06Speaker 6: I get mixed up.
- 54:07Speaker 2: So we'll be back at noon tomorrow with PU. You're
- 54:10Speaker 2: gonna be what time tomorrow before right after twotiforecast twenty two,
- 54:14Speaker 2: and then we've got the pregame show on Friday, right yep?
- 54:17Speaker 4: Yeah, and of course don't know what time.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Don't forget the Brady statue unveiling on Friday. That'll be
- 54:23Speaker 2: stream live at six o'clock on Patriots dot com.
- 54:26Speaker 3: All right, thanks everyone for watching, see you later.
- 54:31Speaker 14: Hey, this is deuced. Thanks for tuning into the show.
- 54:33Speaker 14: If you really want to help us, make sure you
- 54:35Speaker 14: like us wherever you get your podcasts, like Apple Podcasts
- 54:37Speaker 14: or Spotify. Also make sure you follow us on the
- 54:39Speaker 14: New England Patriots YouTube channel to see this show and
