Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, discos, need a little more Disgraceland in your life,
- 0:05Speaker 1: just to touch to get you through.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 0:08Speaker 1: This is the podcast that comes after the podcast. Welcome
- 0:12Speaker 1: to Disgraceland, the after Party. Welcome to the Disgraceland bonus episode,
- 0:30Speaker 1: a little thing we like to call the after party.
- 0:33Speaker 1: This is the show after the show, the party after
- 0:35Speaker 1: the party, the bridge to get you from one full
- 0:37Speaker 1: episode of Disgraceland to the other, the backyard to dig
- 0:40Speaker 1: into the dirt. On this bonus episode, we are talking
- 0:44Speaker 1: about this week's full episode subject Blink one two and
- 0:48Speaker 1: Tom DeLong, and also talking about what kind of UFO
- 0:51Speaker 1: JFK and Sean dinny Combe's disclosure that we will actually
- 0:56Speaker 1: end up getting. We're previewing Richard Pryor and Rick James,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and we get in to your voicemails, text DMS emails
- 1:02Speaker 1: and as always.
- 1:03Speaker 2: A whole lot of rosie.
- 1:05Speaker 1: All Right, discoes, let's get into it. Why do we
- 1:24Speaker 1: care about the things we don't know? About the things
- 1:27Speaker 1: we can't know, or perhaps aren't supposed to know, whether
- 1:31Speaker 1: or not aliens exist?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Who killed JFK?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Which a list celebrities are on those ditty tapes Our
- 1:38Speaker 1: heads have been spinning for the past few months in
- 1:40Speaker 1: anticipation of knowing the truth at the heart of all
- 1:43Speaker 1: of these stories. And I've certainly done my part here
- 1:46Speaker 1: in ginning up that anticipation for all of us. I
- 1:50Speaker 1: hear from you, guys, and most of you are like me.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Most of you want the truth, which is another way
- 1:54Speaker 1: of saying that you don't believe that the official story
- 1:57Speaker 1: surrounding these topics is the whole truth. But what if
- 2:00Speaker 1: it is? What if we are alone in the universe?
- 2:05Speaker 1: What if Oswald did do JFK by himself? And what
- 2:09Speaker 1: if Ditty is innocent on this? I hear from you
- 2:12Speaker 1: guys as well. There's a small minority of you who
- 2:15Speaker 1: write in weekly the voice your skepticism about any or
- 2:18Speaker 1: all of these topics, and I engage with you, but
- 2:21Speaker 1: my heart isn't really in it. And this morning I
- 2:23Speaker 1: ask myself, why is it? Because I'm actually a crackpot
- 2:28Speaker 1: conspiracy theorist. No, I am far from it. The earth
- 2:33Speaker 1: is round. Those dudes landed on the moon back in
- 2:35Speaker 1: nineteen sixty nine nine to eleven was not an inside job.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Paul McCartney didn't die, and Elvis I'm sorry to report
- 2:42Speaker 1: is not alive.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But when it comes to the question of.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Whether or not we are alone in this universe, when
- 2:50Speaker 1: it comes to the question of the jfk assassination, and
- 2:54Speaker 1: if we were sold a bad bill of goods, when
- 2:56Speaker 1: it comes to Ditty in the sex tapes, there is
- 3:00Speaker 1: just too much available evidence and I can't dismiss the
- 3:05Speaker 1: so called conspiracies around these stories. In particular, it's the evidence,
- 3:11Speaker 1: but if I'm being honest, it's also because I, like
- 3:15Speaker 1: you guys, love a good story. These big, in some
- 3:20Speaker 1: cases humanity altering topics and the open ended questions that
- 3:24Speaker 1: surround them. The endless conjecture, the connecting of the dots,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the spookiness, the eeriness, the massive pop culture and historical
- 3:31Speaker 1: bold faced names who serve as characters in these stories.
- 3:35Speaker 1: All of it makes for incredible storytelling. But what happens
- 3:39Speaker 1: when we get the truth about these stories, when there
- 3:42Speaker 1: are no more questions. This week's episode subject, Tom DeLong
- 3:47Speaker 1: of Blank one eighty two said about the drones flying
- 3:50Speaker 1: over New Jersey and elsewhere during the last part of
- 3:52Speaker 1: twenty twenty four just a couple months ago. Drones that many,
- 3:56Speaker 1: myself included, wanted to believe were not just drone and
- 4:00Speaker 1: where some sort of UAP or unexplained aerial phenomena. Tom
- 4:05Speaker 1: was quoted saying on his Instagram this past December to
- 4:08Speaker 1: his one and a half million followers, quote, the drones
- 4:11Speaker 1: that are being discussed can hover for six hours and
- 4:14Speaker 1: then disappear once they are spotted. This is why it's
- 4:16Speaker 1: been hard to get facts from any US agency unquote.
- 4:20Speaker 1: DeLong goes on to say that some of them can
- 4:22Speaker 1: even move into the ocean and then back up to
- 4:25Speaker 1: the air, which is called trans medium travel, a.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Very hard thing to do.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And then Tom posts this document that is from the
- 4:34Speaker 1: United States Air Force, and Tom is commenting on what
- 4:37Speaker 1: this document says. Again, this is on his Instagram. You
- 4:39Speaker 1: can check that out. Tom goes on to say, if
- 4:42Speaker 1: you look at this document, it seems like a repeat
- 4:44Speaker 1: of exactly what happened in the sixties. There is a
- 4:47Speaker 1: good chance that these things could potentially be mimicking other aircraft.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And this even happened more recently in situations at Skinwalker
- 4:55Speaker 1: Ranch years ago when it was being studied the US
- 4:58Speaker 1: government under baas AATIP, and again also decades ago in
- 5:02Speaker 1: the sixties. Tom continues, it's all something to consider unquote,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and then he adds finally here a quote. And although
- 5:11Speaker 1: we don't have all the facts yet, we do know
- 5:15Speaker 1: that UFOs play with mimicry, and that has been known
- 5:18Speaker 1: for quite some time. Why to get us to notice
- 5:21Speaker 1: them without a major freak out?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 5:23Speaker 1: But well, we are noticing nonetheless, And again Tom is
- 5:28Speaker 1: saying this all in reference to the drones over New
- 5:31Speaker 1: Jersey and elsewhere on the East Coast, largely on the
- 5:34Speaker 1: East Coast. I know they are elsewhere in America. Now,
- 5:37Speaker 1: Tom doesn't go all the way and say that the
- 5:38Speaker 1: drones are UAPs, but it's implied. And Tom was, of course,
- 5:43Speaker 1: like the rest of us, searching for answers because the
- 5:45Speaker 1: White House at the time claimed that the drones did
- 5:49Speaker 1: not pose a national security risk and leaned into the
- 5:53Speaker 1: assertion that these drones were operated by drone hobbyists, which
- 5:56Speaker 1: stretched credibility because, as many saw with their own eyes,
- 6:00Speaker 1: myself included, these drones were massive, beyond anything a hobbyist
- 6:04Speaker 1: could operate. Furthermore, commercial drone use is not allowed at night. Okay,
- 6:09Speaker 1: Then the White House spokesperson came out this week. Okay,
- 6:13Speaker 1: new White House new spokesperson comes out this week and
- 6:17Speaker 1: it says, you know, with a little more detail, that yes,
- 6:21Speaker 1: the drones were not a national security risk, they were
- 6:25Speaker 1: FAA approved aerial vehicles deployed by the previous White House
- 6:29Speaker 1: administration to conduct research. So, in effect, this White House
- 6:33Speaker 1: is confirming what the last White House said about the drones,
- 6:36Speaker 1: taking it a step further and saying that they were
- 6:39Speaker 1: FAA approved aerial vehicles that were in fact deployed by
- 6:43Speaker 1: the previous White House administration to conduct research. Now, what
- 6:47Speaker 1: neither White House has given us answers on is what
- 6:49Speaker 1: the hell types of drones were worthies? And what were
- 6:53Speaker 1: they supposedly researching and whatever? I mean, you know government secrecy,
- 6:58Speaker 1: you know military operations. I guess they don't have to
- 7:01Speaker 1: be transparent. But people were freaked the fuck out. That's
- 7:04Speaker 1: not the point. The point is what a bummer?
- 7:08Speaker 2: That's it?
- 7:11Speaker 3: These things aren't even Chinese or Iranian drones send here
- 7:14Speaker 3: to assassinate the president or to Manturian candidate one of
- 7:18Speaker 3: us with their high powered gamma rays or whatever research.
- 7:23Speaker 2: How fucking boring is that.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So this story now sucks, but it doesn't change my
- 7:29Speaker 1: opinion that we are not alone in this universe. It
- 7:31Speaker 1: doesn't change my take on Tom DeLong from Blink one
- 7:33Speaker 1: eighty two's disclosure efforts, but it did get me thinking
- 7:36Speaker 1: about some of these other theories in a new light.
- 7:39Speaker 1: It was announced last week that the JFK files are
- 7:42Speaker 1: to be released in the coming days, perhaps in time
- 7:45Speaker 1: for the next after party. Guys, So what the hell
- 7:47Speaker 1: is in those files?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Now?
- 7:50Speaker 1: We can go on and on imagining and trying to
- 7:52Speaker 1: figure this out. But what if nothing is in the files?
- 7:56Speaker 1: What if the files, the JFK files indisputably confirm the
- 8:01Speaker 1: lone gunman theory. What if there's no CIA involvement. What
- 8:05Speaker 1: if there's no mafia involvement, nobody Harrelson's dad, no George
- 8:08Speaker 1: Bush Senior, no, nothing. Well that will suck too, And
- 8:13Speaker 1: what the hell kind of story does that leave us with?
- 8:16Speaker 2: And what if the opposite is true?
- 8:18Speaker 1: What if our wildest JFK conspiracy theories or theory is
- 8:22Speaker 1: proven in just seven or so days, Well that's gonna
- 8:26Speaker 1: suck too, because we're no longer going to have this amazing,
- 8:28Speaker 1: endless theory and all the wild storytelling attached to it
- 8:32Speaker 1: to occupy our brains with. Either way, we're headed toward
- 8:35Speaker 1: the end of an era here with the JFK story,
- 8:36Speaker 1: and I don't know how I feel about it. I
- 8:38Speaker 1: guess what I'm saying is right now, I kind of
- 8:42Speaker 1: like not knowing. If what's revealed in the JFK files
- 8:46Speaker 1: is underwhelming, most of us are going to be supremely
- 8:50Speaker 1: bummed out.
- 8:51Speaker 2: But we shall see.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Now leaving JFK behind, this brings me to the last
- 8:55Speaker 1: of the big three conspiracy theories floating around out there,
- 8:57Speaker 1: floating around in my brain right now, and that's the
- 9:00Speaker 1: Didty tapes. First of all, it's my belief, especially after
- 9:03Speaker 1: watching the first episode of this new Diddy doc that
- 9:06Speaker 1: just dropped on Peacock on HBO as well. You can
- 9:09Speaker 1: watch on HBO. Didd he is a monster. Okay, this
- 9:13Speaker 1: this documentary just episode one. I haven't seen the episode
- 9:15Speaker 1: two yet, which is available. I'm gonna watch it tonight.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I meant to watch it in time for this after
- 9:20Speaker 1: party to talk to you guys about it, but last
- 9:22Speaker 1: night was fucked for a lot of reasons. Anyhow, This
- 9:26Speaker 1: is kind of the nail in the coffin for me
- 9:28Speaker 1: with Sean Combs, and you know, as far as his
- 9:31Speaker 1: guilt is concerned, now to the level of his guilt,
- 9:33Speaker 1: I don't know, But like I said, dude is a monster.
- 9:36Speaker 1: He denies everything in this new series, all the allegations,
- 9:40Speaker 1: he denies it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Of course. However, this is why it's.
- 9:43Speaker 1: The nail in the coffin for me. The people who
- 9:45Speaker 1: go on record in this documentary are real people. They
- 9:48Speaker 1: are real people with real careers. They are real people
- 9:51Speaker 1: who are involved in the music industry. They're not just
- 9:56Speaker 1: they're You can't you can't just say they're looking for
- 9:59Speaker 1: a quick bite. I mean, I'm sure you can with
- 10:01Speaker 1: some I haven't Obviously I haven't seen I said, I
- 10:03Speaker 1: haven't seen episode two. I haven't seen the whole series.
- 10:06Speaker 1: But that said, from what I have seen, this is
- 10:09Speaker 1: not TikTok conjecture at all. These people are credible, okay,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and it is in the details, I know, storytelling, Okay.
- 10:18Speaker 1: The allegations are incredibly explicit, they are incredibly detailed, and
- 10:24Speaker 1: you can be your own judge. But like I said,
- 10:28Speaker 1: this is the final nail in the coffin for me,
- 10:30Speaker 1: based on Diddy's guilt or just based on the notion
- 10:32Speaker 1: of whether or not this dude is a monster. Okay,
- 10:36Speaker 1: After watching this one episode here, on top of everything
- 10:40Speaker 1: else I've read about this guy, it is now for me,
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's indisputable. This dude is capable of anything. Okay, but
- 10:48Speaker 1: again we shall see innocent until proven guilty and all
- 10:52Speaker 1: that right, And you know, to be fair, this still
- 10:56Speaker 1: doesn't prove the wildest of conspiracies here that Sean Combs
- 10:59Speaker 1: was acting like a model de Caligila and has those
- 11:01Speaker 1: tapes filled with footage of his A list celebrity friends
- 11:04Speaker 1: caught up in some weird satanic sexual ritual type stuff.
- 11:09Speaker 1: That's a stretch, but like I said, we shall see.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I guess the point is it was a weird week
- 11:16Speaker 1: for storytelling. In the next few weeks, I believe are
- 11:18Speaker 1: going to be even weirder, So make sure you're listening
- 11:21Speaker 1: to the after Party because we're going to get into
- 11:22Speaker 1: all of it. Also, next week, we are continuing with
- 11:25Speaker 1: our icon series, bringing it to an end with one
- 11:28Speaker 1: of our last, but not the last, non music related
- 11:31Speaker 1: topics in the Disgrace Sland Feed. This one is on
- 11:34Speaker 1: Richard Pryor, and when you're listening to it, I want
- 11:36Speaker 1: you guys to be thinking about which comedian from your
- 11:38Speaker 1: youth now prior predates my childhood. But he's a direct
- 11:42Speaker 1: influence on Eddie Murphy, whose stand up when I was
- 11:44Speaker 1: a kid was must watch, must memorize, must show up
- 11:49Speaker 1: at the bus top, must be as profane as possible
- 11:52Speaker 1: as a little twelve year old kid, or whatever. That
- 11:55Speaker 1: kind of influence. Okay, now, Eddie Murphy was directly influenced
- 11:58Speaker 1: by Richard Pryor. Richard Pryor might be part of your childhood.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Maybe maybe it's someone else, Maybe it's Adam Sandler, maybe
- 12:04Speaker 1: it's who knows. But the question that I want you
- 12:07Speaker 1: to be thinking about when you're listening to this Richard
- 12:09Speaker 1: Pryor episode is when you were a kid, which comedian
- 12:13Speaker 1: made you laugh the hardest? And why we started showing
- 12:16Speaker 1: my oldest this past weekend, actually unrelated to this, we
- 12:20Speaker 1: started showing my oldest son and actually, I guess by extension,
- 12:23Speaker 1: my youngest song too. The nineties Adam Sandler movies, and
- 12:28Speaker 1: he's dying. He's loving it. So I know that right now,
- 12:32Speaker 1: if I asked him this question twenty years from now,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure Adam Sandler would be his answer.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Based on this last week alone. He's obsessed.
- 12:39Speaker 1: He's quoting the films highly inappropriate, but pretty innocent. So anyways,
- 12:44Speaker 1: for you guys, next week's question of the week thinking
- 12:47Speaker 1: about this when you're listening to the Richard Prior episode
- 12:49Speaker 1: is going to be which comedian from your youth made
- 12:51Speaker 1: you laugh the hardest and why you can let me
- 12:53Speaker 1: know six one seven nine oh six six six three
- 12:55Speaker 1: eight voicemail and text at disgrace lampod on the socials.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Coming up for that Richard Prior episode, however, and coming
- 13:02Speaker 1: up next in your feed here after this bonus episode
- 13:05Speaker 1: is our rewind episode on Rick James. Now, guys, if
- 13:09Speaker 1: you haven't heard this episode before, if you're like, who
- 13:11Speaker 1: the fuck is Rick James, do not sleep on this episode.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Do not skip this episode. You will miss out. I
- 13:17Speaker 1: assure you. Same goes for those of you OG discos
- 13:20Speaker 1: who heard this episode when it was originally released. If
- 13:22Speaker 1: that's you, I invite you to listen to this episode again.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And it's for a couple of reasons. The main one
- 13:27Speaker 1: is that this story is insane. What Rick James did
- 13:30Speaker 1: in his career, the crimes, the transgressions, they are mind blowing.
- 13:34Speaker 1: People are aware of the kidnapping and the torture chargers
- 13:37Speaker 1: from later in his career. But this dude's whole life
- 13:40Speaker 1: was one long crime saga. It's hard for me to
- 13:44Speaker 1: think of another musician who better embodies the rock and
- 13:47Speaker 1: rolla criminally minded lifestyle than Rick James. Honestly, I could
- 13:51Speaker 1: do ten episodes on this dude. The other reason I
- 13:53Speaker 1: want you to listen to this episode is because Rick James.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Rick James is one of those weird artists where if
- 13:58Speaker 1: I say anything remotely critical about him, people freak the
- 14:03Speaker 1: fuck out. He's beloved, which is bizarre. Give him what
- 14:06Speaker 1: a psychopath he was and how much horror he brought
- 14:09Speaker 1: upon people, but he did make incredible, fantastic, mold breaking music,
- 14:16Speaker 1: and that's the whole story for some, but it's not
- 14:18Speaker 1: for us. Okay, Rick got up to some bullshit, wild
- 14:21Speaker 1: dramatic true crime bullshit, and when I talk about it
- 14:24Speaker 1: online later this week, you're going to see some people
- 14:27Speaker 1: freak out. So listen to this episode so you can
- 14:29Speaker 1: hear what all the insanity is about and be part
- 14:31Speaker 1: of the conversation. Disgrace Sam pod on the socials, on Instagram,
- 14:35Speaker 1: on Facebook, on TikTok on X. All Right, I'm going
- 14:38Speaker 1: to take a quick break I'll be back shortly with
- 14:40Speaker 1: your voicemails, text and dms from our question of the week.
- 15:03Speaker 1: You guys know how to get in touch with me
- 15:04Speaker 1: six one seven nine oh six sixty six three eight
- 15:07Speaker 1: to leave a voicemail, to send me a text. Look,
- 15:09Speaker 1: it seems like you guys, this happens from week to
- 15:11Speaker 1: week sometimes. You know, you guys just want to keep
- 15:14Speaker 1: digging into an episode. You don't want to stop talking
- 15:16Speaker 1: about the Beastie Boys, And I'm just going to roll
- 15:18Speaker 1: with it. So let's hear from Emily in the nine
- 15:21Speaker 1: oh six.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Hey, dig it is Emily of the nine oh six,
- 15:26Speaker 4: And I say of the as I grew up in
- 15:29Speaker 4: rule Up Peninsula of Michigan, and my music education was
- 15:36Speaker 4: my dad's records and the videos I could catch on
- 15:40Speaker 4: MTV when I could speak and turn it on when
- 15:43Speaker 4: my mom with that word. I appreciated the BC Boys
- 15:48Speaker 4: episode so much because BC Boys hold that place in
- 15:52Speaker 4: my heart entirely because I was drawn in by their videos.
- 15:57Speaker 4: They just that's my childhood. Oh strange, and it's so weird.
- 16:01Speaker 4: But with your half of the visuals, I guess that
- 16:05Speaker 4: ties you to the artist. But is that an episode
- 16:08Speaker 4: right there? Looking at some really influential and breakthrough videos
- 16:15Speaker 4: and the stories behind them, because you know there's some
- 16:18Speaker 4: debauchery in some of those videos. And also I always
- 16:22Speaker 4: want to ask, why is there no Dave Grohle Foot
- 16:25Speaker 4: Fighters episode question mark? Anyways, thank you for the content
- 16:30Speaker 4: you bring to us. All I appreciate it so very much.
- 16:33Speaker 4: And I also appreciate your voice because I fall asleep
- 16:37Speaker 4: to it every night and then listen to the full
- 16:39Speaker 4: episode in the morning. All Right, thanks so much, Emily.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Thank you for the voicemail. I appreciate it. It sounds like
- 16:45Speaker 1: you and I had a very similar upbringing, exposed to
- 16:49Speaker 1: new music through our parents' record collections and MTV. As
- 16:54Speaker 1: for your question as to whether or not we could
- 16:58Speaker 1: do subjects on specific videos, I suppose we could if
- 17:02Speaker 1: the story behind the video was juicy enough. And I
- 17:04Speaker 1: haven't come across anything yet that has sort of prompted
- 17:08Speaker 1: me to go, huh, that'd be a cool idea. I
- 17:11Speaker 1: kind of like sometimes using a singular event to tell
- 17:17Speaker 1: not the full story, but to just tell a whole
- 17:19Speaker 1: story that takes place around one event. I just the
- 17:21Speaker 1: Martin Scorsese episode that I just wrote that's coming out in.
- 17:24Speaker 2: A couple of weeks.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Is basically that it would be fun, though, to tackle
- 17:28Speaker 1: a video. So if anyone has any ideas about the
- 17:31Speaker 1: crazy stories but the production of some of the videos
- 17:35Speaker 1: from our past the eighties and nineties, etc.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Let me know.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Ask your question about the Foo Fighters, Emily. You know,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I just don't know if there's enough there. You know,
- 17:44Speaker 1: Dave Grohle cheating on his wife certainly shitty behavior. Is
- 17:48Speaker 1: it that interesting though? I was it going to make
- 17:50Speaker 1: a make up an episode. As for the Taylor Hawkins
- 17:53Speaker 1: piece of it, I don't know that we have all
- 17:55Speaker 1: that information yet, Like actual information. There is a lot
- 17:58Speaker 1: of conjecture out there, but I just don't know that
- 18:00Speaker 1: there's enough there yet. But you know, Food Fighters are
- 18:05Speaker 1: still a young band. We shall see what happens. And
- 18:07Speaker 1: thank you Emily for the kind words about my voice.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Sleep tight tonight. Wish I got better sleep last night.
- 18:12Speaker 2: I did not. Okay, let's hear from Kurt in the
- 18:15Speaker 2: four one five.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Hi, this is a Kurt Spohler. I grew up in
- 18:20Speaker 5: New York in the seventies and eighties. Listen to your
- 18:22Speaker 5: PC boys podcast, Super is amazing you out to influenced
- 18:28Speaker 5: me in my life, and I'd love to hear something
- 18:30Speaker 5: about Lou Reed who I've seen a bunch of David
- 18:33Speaker 5: bow I've heard a lot of David Bowie and other
- 18:35Speaker 5: you know, epop and that kind of stuff, but Lou
- 18:38Speaker 5: seems to be kind of lost in the in the
- 18:39Speaker 5: crowd too. Anyway, I love your podcast and hope to
- 18:44Speaker 5: hear it too.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Thanks, Thank Kurt, appreciate the voicemail. Dude, I got you covered. Okay,
- 18:50Speaker 2: we have a fantastic.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Episode if I do say so myself, on David Bowie.
- 18:54Speaker 1: That's in the archive that's available for you right now.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Just go to wherever you're listening to Disgraceland and search Bowie.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Have any trouble, get in touch and we'll surface that episode. Actually,
- 19:04Speaker 1: Matt here, our Steadfast producer, will make sure that the
- 19:07Speaker 1: episode information for the David Bowie and Lou Reid episodes
- 19:11Speaker 1: are in the show notes of this bonus episode, so
- 19:14Speaker 1: that should make it easy for you.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Kurt. We actually did so.
- 19:17Speaker 1: We did a David Bowie episode, and then Bowie shows
- 19:19Speaker 1: up pretty significantly in both the Iggy Pop episode that
- 19:23Speaker 1: we did, which is also available, and the led Zeppelin episode,
- 19:27Speaker 1: which is also available lou Reid.
- 19:30Speaker 2: I did two of my favorite.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Episodes on lou Reid that I wrote when I was
- 19:36Speaker 1: You're going to Hear I was pretty obsessed with Raymond
- 19:38Speaker 1: Chandler at the time when I wrote. Those episodes are
- 19:40Speaker 1: kind of the lou Reed origin story. And we did
- 19:44Speaker 1: a double episode on the Velvet Underground as well, I believe.
- 19:47Speaker 1: So that's all available for you, Okay, go check that out.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Kurt eight oh three texts in, Hey, what a fantastic episode.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I don't dislike Blink one eighty two, but I don't
- 19:56Speaker 1: know that I could name more than the enema of
- 19:58Speaker 1: the State album. That story story had me hooked from
- 20:01Speaker 1: start to finish. I nodded alone, was occasionally skeptical, but
- 20:04Speaker 1: always a believer of the storytelling. Well done, Jake, rock
- 20:06Speaker 1: a rolla that's from the eighth three. Thanks eight oh three.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Happy to be making believers of you guys. Seven to
- 20:12Speaker 1: one six texts in, this was almost the story of
- 20:14Speaker 1: the week, almost the story of a week. It's it's
- 20:17Speaker 1: a good one. But seven one six writes here, so
- 20:20Speaker 1: here's a story. Not sure about rock and roll history,
- 20:22Speaker 1: but it's one you play a role in. For me,
- 20:25Speaker 1: I was excited to listen to Dead and Gone. For
- 20:27Speaker 1: those of you who don't know, I did a podcast
- 20:29Speaker 1: in partnership with my buddy Payne Lindsay a couple of
- 20:31Speaker 1: years ago about missing in dead grateful dead fans. It's
- 20:34Speaker 1: called Dead and Gone, so that's what the seven to
- 20:36Speaker 1: one six is referring to. I was excited to listen
- 20:39Speaker 1: to Dead and Gone. I always knew that I saw
- 20:40Speaker 1: one of Jerry Garcia's last shows, but shortly after he died,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I was in a car accident that resulted to me
- 20:46Speaker 1: getting retrograde amnesia. The second time I listened to your
- 20:50Speaker 1: story about the seven to ninety five show at Deer Creek,
- 20:54Speaker 1: it hit me and I remembered that I was there,
- 20:58Speaker 1: not a gate crasher because I had a tick. I
- 21:00Speaker 1: remember a lot of shows, but thanks for bringing back
- 21:02Speaker 1: that one for me. Another little tie into a last
- 21:05Speaker 1: show ten twenty seventy four at the Winterland was the
- 21:07Speaker 1: last show before their hiatus and the day I was
- 21:09Speaker 1: born as well. Don't remember that one either. Seven one six,
- 21:14Speaker 1: great text. I love your sense of humor about your
- 21:18Speaker 1: retrograde amnisia. What a wild thing to have, and I'm
- 21:21Speaker 1: happy that we were able to remind you of some
- 21:24Speaker 1: of your memories. Pretty cool. Three Zho two text said, Hey,
- 21:27Speaker 1: have you seen Beyond Saturday Night on Peacock? If I
- 21:29Speaker 1: remember correctly, you're a big Will Ferrell fan, there's an
- 21:31Speaker 1: entire episode devoted to the cow bell bit. I recommend it.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I've watched it twice and could watch it one hundred
- 21:37Speaker 1: more times. At least I have not seen this. And
- 21:41Speaker 1: Zeth and I Zeth was He texted me about this yesterday.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Is this the quest Love produced show about the Saturday
- 21:48Speaker 1: Night Live show about the SNL music. I think that's
- 21:52Speaker 1: what you're referring to. And if so, I'm gonna watch it.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I heard it's fantastic and I'm pumped to watch it.
- 21:57Speaker 1: And yes, I am a Will Ferrell fan who's not
- 22:00Speaker 1: so it' psyched to see this one of his most
- 22:02Speaker 1: iconic skits brought to life here with a little more detail,
- 22:05Speaker 1: hopefully at lumber af on Instagram. Rights, this universe is
- 22:09Speaker 1: incomprehensibly large. To think we are the only life out
- 22:12Speaker 1: there is insanely naive and very boring. Hey, I totally
- 22:16Speaker 1: completely agree to that. I say exactly, You're absolutely right.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Jeffrey Urman on Facebook rights. Hey Jake, Jeff from the
- 22:24Speaker 1: three one oh slash nine oh nine long story not
- 22:26Speaker 1: relevant Crosby Stills, Nash and whoever the fuck is my
- 22:29Speaker 1: new favorite line from any podcast at any point ever
- 22:33Speaker 1: wanted you to know, keep killing it rock and ROLLA Jeff.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Jeff is of course referring to that little quip I
- 22:39Speaker 1: had in the Beatles episode one of the two Beatles
- 22:42Speaker 1: episodes that we rewound for you last week, Crosby Stills
- 22:45Speaker 1: in whoever the fuck? Yeah, that just flowed out. Glad you, Doug.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I got a couple comments on that. Appreciate it all right, guys.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Question of the week for next week, you know the drill.
- 22:54Speaker 1: It's going to be about which comedian from your childhood
- 22:56Speaker 1: made you laugh the hardest.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I want to know.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Hit me up, who was feeding you those dirty jokes
- 23:02Speaker 1: you were spilling at the bus stop six one seven
- 23:04Speaker 1: nine oh six six six three eight voicemail text at
- 23:07Speaker 1: Disgrace Lampod on the socials Disgracelampod at gmail dot com.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Email I'll be back in the flash with your emails
- 23:15Speaker 1: and your reviews and from you guys, the story of
- 23:19Speaker 1: the week. Okay, we're back and you know what we're
- 23:35Speaker 1: doing here with this story of the Week. Every week
- 23:37Speaker 1: it's up to you, guys to hit me up with
- 23:39Speaker 1: your best story from your past, from the past of
- 23:42Speaker 1: one of your friends or your family members, from something.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Maybe it doesn't even have to be personal. It can
- 23:46Speaker 1: be something that you read in a book, something that
- 23:48Speaker 1: somebody told you, just some wild and crazy story from
- 23:53Speaker 1: rock and roll history. The ones where you're involved, I
- 23:56Speaker 1: gotta say, they're they're the best ones.
- 23:58Speaker 2: I feel the passion coming through.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And we do this all of course, in our effort
- 24:02Speaker 1: to preserve the true spirit of rock and roll, because,
- 24:05Speaker 1: as we said, these stories there, they will one day
- 24:08Speaker 1: fade away, and it is our mission here in Disgraceland
- 24:10Speaker 1: to make sure that that does not happen for a very, very,
- 24:13Speaker 1: very long time. So this week's story that week comes
- 24:16Speaker 1: from Vicky Westgate. Vicky Wright say, Hey, Jake, I just
- 24:19Speaker 1: couldn't resist this. I had to reach out. I'm a
- 24:22Speaker 1: goldsmith up in Canada who listens faithfully to your podcast
- 24:25Speaker 1: while creating beautiful pieces of jewelry for customers, and I
- 24:28Speaker 1: discovered you about a year ago. So back to why
- 24:30Speaker 1: I felt compelled to write your story on the Keith
- 24:34Speaker 1: Richards drug bust was big news when it happened for
- 24:38Speaker 1: Stones fans here in Toronto. Stones fans like me, Maggie
- 24:43Speaker 1: Trudeau's antics were just a sideline show.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Vicky's email goes on to say, your pod on the
- 24:49Speaker 1: drug Bust brought back many great memories, as I can
- 24:52Speaker 1: proudly say that my boyfriend and I sat in the
- 24:55Speaker 1: courthouse and watched the Keith Richards trial. Podcast took me
- 25:01Speaker 1: back to my wild and wooly days where music was
- 25:04Speaker 1: everything in the Toronto scene was incredible. Anyhow, we skipped
- 25:08Speaker 1: school and we watched the trial with a few other
- 25:10Speaker 1: smart ass rolling Stones fans, and we were smart ass
- 25:12Speaker 1: as we figured out we could sit in the court
- 25:14Speaker 1: gallery and watch Keith on trial for free. We were
- 25:18Speaker 1: so close that I can vouch that, yes, he wore
- 25:21Speaker 1: a tan suit, very seventies style and white socks. And
- 25:25Speaker 1: I remember one fan my age wore a Starfucker T
- 25:28Speaker 1: shirt he had just made that morning and was so
- 25:30Speaker 1: proud of it. We were a rowdy bunch and we
- 25:33Speaker 1: had to be reprimanded several times by the judge when
- 25:35Speaker 1: he was going to kick us out, we took notice
- 25:37Speaker 1: and we shut up. Thank you for making me relive
- 25:40Speaker 1: this moment from my Rolling Stones fangirl life. As a
- 25:42Speaker 1: side note, my boyfriend got to go to the concert
- 25:45Speaker 1: for the blind.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I have no idea how we wrangled the ticket because
- 25:48Speaker 1: you had to be a blind person to get in.
- 25:50Speaker 2: He said. It was a fantastic concert. Of course. All
- 25:54Speaker 2: the best and keep making great content.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Love listening. Vicky from the six one three in Ontario, Canada.
- 25:59Speaker 1: VICKI thank you so much for the story of the week.
- 26:02Speaker 1: This is amazing, incredible. Look how savvy you guys were
- 26:06Speaker 1: understanding that you could get into the trial for free
- 26:08Speaker 1: and get up and close to a rolling Stone just
- 26:10Speaker 1: like that.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Amazing. I love it. Great story. Thank you for sending it.
- 26:14Speaker 2: We appreciate it. Vicky.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Guys, hit me up with your story of the week. Okay,
- 26:18Speaker 1: I want to know what it is, and you're gonna
- 26:19Speaker 1: get a chance, just like the reviewers. Okay, new policy,
- 26:22Speaker 1: Just like the reviewers, y'all write in with your story
- 26:25Speaker 1: of the week. If I read it here, you are
- 26:26Speaker 1: going to get some free merch whatever we get lying
- 26:30Speaker 1: around the old Disgray Sands studio here, which finally I
- 26:33Speaker 1: can report construction will be complete within four to six weeks. Anyhow, Vicky,
- 26:41Speaker 1: get in touch and hit me up with your address
- 26:44Speaker 1: and shirt size, and I will make sure that we
- 26:47Speaker 1: get some merch out to you reviewers. Same thing, you know,
- 26:50Speaker 1: the drill. You leave a review on Apple Podcasts, you
- 26:52Speaker 1: leave a review on Spotify. I read a couple of
- 26:55Speaker 1: them here each week. And because the reviews, not only
- 26:59Speaker 1: do I like like learning from you guys on a
- 27:01Speaker 1: different platform here, but the reviews help with discovery. And
- 27:04Speaker 1: that's the point, okay, because that helps the show grow.
- 27:07Speaker 2: So you do a little favorite for me. I pick
- 27:09Speaker 2: out a couple.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Of you per week, read your reviews, and then you
- 27:11Speaker 1: get in touch with me and I will hook you
- 27:13Speaker 1: up with a couple free merch items. Again, whatever we got,
- 27:17Speaker 1: whatever we got lying around the old studio here, okay,
- 27:19Speaker 1: not making any promises for T shirts or pins or
- 27:23Speaker 1: stickers or or books or whatever. It's whatever we got
- 27:26Speaker 1: lying around, and we always have something cool lying around.
- 27:28Speaker 1: So get in touch if you hear your review here.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Red in the after party. This one comes from Ryan
- 27:34Speaker 1: Red four or five to one on Apple Podcasts, who
- 27:36Speaker 1: says great listen, five stars.
- 27:38Speaker 2: This show is well written with great delivery of the story.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Everyone that asks for something new to listen to, Disgraceland
- 27:43Speaker 1: is my first option for them.
- 27:45Speaker 2: To try keep up the great work. Y'all, Ryan Red,
- 27:47Speaker 2: you got it.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Get in touch Ryan and we will hook you up
- 27:50Speaker 1: over on the old Spotify machine. Christopher Joseph writes in
- 27:54Speaker 1: response to the Blank one eighty two episode, great episode.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Blink's lore is really interesting in Tom is such an
- 28:00Speaker 1: inspiring person who always followed his heart.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Christopher. I read your.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Review because I haven't really talked about this at all
- 28:06Speaker 1: on this after party. And really, it's the theme of
- 28:09Speaker 1: the of the Blink one eighty two episode. It's not
- 28:11Speaker 1: just that you know, Tom did this monumental thing and
- 28:14Speaker 1: he's an unlikely hero and all that. It's just it's
- 28:17Speaker 1: the fact that you know, the theme of that episode
- 28:19Speaker 1: is that Tom is so purpose driven. His purpose has
- 28:23Speaker 1: always been clearly defined, and he's been on that path
- 28:27Speaker 1: since the beginning, even when it was really unpopular and
- 28:32Speaker 1: difficult for him to be on that path. And I
- 28:34Speaker 1: don't know, I just I value that. I think it's
- 28:35Speaker 1: really cool and I like that you that you called
- 28:38Speaker 1: it out here, Christopher.
- 28:39Speaker 2: So get in touch, hit me up. Email me, hit
- 28:41Speaker 2: me up on the socials and we will hook you up.
- 28:44Speaker 1: All right, All Access members, you got a Towns van
- 28:47Speaker 1: Zant episode last week as our All Access exclusive piece
- 28:53Speaker 1: of content that we released for you, and I hope
- 28:56Speaker 1: you dug it. And when we get into the all
- 28:59Speaker 1: Access portion into this episode, I'm going to talk a
- 29:01Speaker 1: little bit about a Townsvans Adn't related recommendation that I
- 29:03Speaker 1: think flew under the pop culture radar. I think it's
- 29:06Speaker 1: fantastic and I can't wait to hit you to it.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Also going to talk to All Access members about my
- 29:12Speaker 1: experience if you know what I'm saying. We're going to
- 29:16Speaker 1: get into that. This episode is, however, nearing its end.
- 29:20Speaker 1: For non All Access members, you know, you want to

- 29:25Speaker 1: to hear a little bit more additional content. It's really
- 29:27Speaker 1: easy to become an All Access member. It's just five
- 29:29Speaker 1: bucks and not only do you get this additional part
- 29:32Speaker 1: of the bonus episode here, you also get an exclusive
- 29:35Speaker 1: full episode per month and everything is ad free.
- 29:38Speaker 2: It's just five bucks. Five bucks a month.
- 29:41Speaker 1: That's like I mean, I think I said before it
- 29:43Speaker 1: was like the cost of an IPA cost of an
- 29:47Speaker 1: expensive cup of coffee. You know what else do we
- 29:50Speaker 1: blow five dollars on parking on Newbury Street for an hour?
- 29:55Speaker 2: What else? Five bucks? If you got it?
- 29:58Speaker 1: Come on become an All Acts This member. Join us,
- 30:01Speaker 1: and by join us, I mean you can be in

- 30:10Speaker 1: a good time, it's eazy, it's reasonably priced, and you

- 30:34Speaker 2: All right, we are back, guys.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Cool bunch of archive episodes mentioned in this bonus episode
- 30:37Speaker 1: as always. Okay, we mentioned Paul McCartney We've Gotta Paul
- 30:40Speaker 1: is Dead episode. You're gonna want to check that out.
- 30:43Speaker 1: We mentioned the JFKA conspiracy. Of course, we get into
- 30:46Speaker 1: that deeply in the Frank Sinatra and John Denver episodes.
- 30:48Speaker 1: In two completely different ways. David Bowie was brought up.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I talked about that episode. Lou Reid was brought up
- 30:55Speaker 1: as well. Two episodes on lou Reed. I think there's
- 30:57Speaker 1: two on Velvet Underground. Maybe there's one.
- 31:00Speaker 2: How weird is that? I don't even know if we
- 31:01Speaker 2: did a two part or on that.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Matt's going to have all the episode information in the
- 31:04Speaker 1: show notes here to help you better find these archive episodes.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Huge archive, new listeners. We have a huge, huge archive.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Any type of musician you could possibly think of, we've
- 31:17Speaker 1: most likely got an episode on them in our two
- 31:19Speaker 1: hundred plus episodes, which is continuing to grow every single week.
- 31:22Speaker 1: So if you want to hear an episode on somebody
- 31:24Speaker 1: that you think we may or may not have covered,
- 31:26Speaker 1: just check out the archive, go to the website, check
- 31:29Speaker 1: out your podcast feed, and if you're still stumped and
- 31:31Speaker 1: you're still looking for something, get in touch and I'll
- 31:33Speaker 1: hook you up. All right, Okay, let's recap, shall we.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Number one? I want your story, Call me, text me,
- 31:38Speaker 2: hit me on the socials.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Your favorite story of rock and roll animalism, as wild
- 31:42Speaker 1: a story you can think of about a rock star
- 31:44Speaker 1: that you're aware of, that you may have had a
- 31:45Speaker 1: personal encounter with, something that you may have heard from
- 31:48Speaker 1: somebody else, something I may have even told you about.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Okay, whatever it is, I want to know.
- 31:52Speaker 1: We want to preserve the true spirit of rock and
- 31:55Speaker 1: roll here in Disgraceland.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Hit me up.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Your story might be the story of the Week number
- 31:59Speaker 1: two Right now in your feed. Hour episode on Blink

- 32:11Speaker 2: Number five.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Remember no one cares about preserving the true spirit or
- 32:14Speaker 1: rock and roll more than you doing well. That's a disgrace,
- 32:16Speaker 1: all right. April twenty seven, twenty twenty, was the day
- 32:19Speaker 1: the government, compelled by Blink one eighty two's Tom DeLong,
- 32:22Speaker 1: finally disclosed some information regarding the likely existence of life
- 32:26Speaker 1: from beyond this planet or this dimension. Perhaps so this
- 32:30Speaker 1: is me reading to you the billboard charts from that day.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Number one Blinding Lights the weekend.
