- 0:00Recording in progress. Go for it.
- 0:03Me. You mean me?
- 0:06What's that wrong? I don't know.
- 0:08I just made that up. Yeah, I feel like that that's
- 0:11like that feels like it was from something you.
- 0:14Know you mean me? I don't know.
- 0:15Anyways, obeying your management fantasy hockey podcast.
- 0:20Woo woo. Double woo, eh?
- 0:24Noise. It's this is supposed to be the
- 0:27last episode without Josh, so I'm pretty excited to get him
- 0:29back next episode. Maybe that's why I'm so excited.
- 0:34I didn't double room, but I'm excited too.
- 0:36We miss you, Josh. OK, so Ben Vindo, Al Bangor
- 0:41management all podcast subway Hoke de Fantasia.
- 0:45Guess what language? That was as sound like Russian
- 0:50esque, like a like a, like a Slovakian and was that close.
- 0:58No, what was the same continent? Same continent so an all
- 1:02horrible. Danish.
- 1:04No, I don't know what is it. Think outside the box.
- 1:09Think outside the box. What's the box?
- 1:13The box is anyway it was Portuguese.
- 1:17Oh. Oh, OK.
- 1:20Yeah, all our hockey fans in Portugal.
- 1:22You're welcome. Mr. Worldwide, Mr. Worldwide OK,
- 1:27so welcoming everyone to Bangor management, the fantasy hockey
- 1:31podcast with Jake and Kevork. Today we're going to be doing
- 1:36our add, hold drop episode and we are recording as of week 13.
- 1:41So we're each going to be suggesting.
- 1:43What what you said a week 13? I knew it the week of January
- 1:5113th. This is.
- 1:52New so you gotta co-host. That's why I'm here.
- 1:55Yes, thank you. Thank you.
- 1:56So this is as of the week of January 13th.
- 2:01We're going to work on that. You get the point.
- 2:03It's contemporary. All your fault, you're going to
- 2:05work on it. Fine, it will be worked on.
- 2:09We're a team. OK.
- 2:11Yeah, it's OK. Fair.
- 2:12And you, it's relevant for when you're listening to it, when
- 2:16it's going to be released. Well, that's the important part.
- 2:18So we're each going to be suggesting one player to add, 1
- 2:21to hold and one to drop. And why this is relevant in some
- 2:24leagues where there the other managers are hard to trade with.
- 2:27So essentially, yeah, you know, you want to be able to work with
- 2:31the managers in your league. Sometimes that's difficult.
- 2:33So make your own way. This can be helpful in that
- 2:36case. There's no official requirements
- 2:38for this. It could be any player we
- 2:40believe is worth an ad that's available, Mostly anyone worth a
- 2:43hold even if he's underperforming in a player that
- 2:47you may be rostering for name value or because of a hot
- 2:50streak, but that's not worth holding onto anymore.
- 2:53This is mainly focused on Bangor category leagues, but it's can
- 2:56certainly be relevant for points as well.

- 3:24We appreciate it. So we are doing this Josh list
- 3:27this week. So we're just going to do some
- 3:30some ads, holds and drops ourselves.
- 3:32So Kevin starts off with yours. Yep.
- 3:34I think the main disclaimer, I mean, you mentioned just just
- 3:37now, but I think one of the things that keep in mind is it's
- 3:41really hard to provide exactly 100% advice for all the
- 3:45different types of leagues out there, different sizes,
- 3:47different categories, different points, everything.
- 3:49So we're really trying to kind of like what's what's the saying
- 3:53like throw a wide cast, a wide net type of thing?
- 3:56Is that the thing that just make that up?
- 3:58I don't know. I, I, I got the idea.
- 4:01But like, yeah, we're, we're trying to make it as relevant as
- 4:04possible for. Everybody, that's absolutely.
- 4:07But I think the main thing is when we're giving her, as we're
- 4:09giving our drops and holds is really gonna depend on the size
- 4:12of your league. So trying to stay as relevant as
- 4:15possible. But my ad for right now is Tyler
- 4:20Bertuzzi of the Chicago Blackhawks.
- 4:23Yeah, sorry. Carry on.
- 4:26No, I don't know. I don't know.
- 4:29I was going to make a joke. We could probably, you could
- 4:30probably cut it out. I would be like vaccinated
- 4:32question mark. Oh my God.
- 4:37Not to get political, but yeah, anyway.
- 4:39OK. Bertuzzi, I mean, listen, I
- 4:42don't know how long this is gonna last as an ad, but ever
- 4:46since he got bumped up to line one power play one playing with
- 4:49Connor Bedard, he's been nuts. He's been producing at a way
- 4:52higher rate than what is roster percentage is like his roster.
- 4:55He's available in over 80% of leagues right now and he's
- 4:59producing at a way higher rate than that over the last month.
- 5:02He's at 0.85 points per game in deeper leagues.
- 5:05He's like, this is the type of guy you stream and you're you're
- 5:07thrilled because he's completely dominating your matchups.
- 5:10The only caveat is Chicago's been known to really change
- 5:12their lines up. Maybe that was with previous
- 5:16coaching staff, more than recent coaching staff feel they've been
- 5:18looking for alignment for Bedard, a consistent line made
- 5:21for Bedard the whole season. And, and I mean, listen, over
- 5:24the last month, Bertuzzi has been that guy and he's been
- 5:26solid. So I think as of right now, he's
- 5:29a clear AD and he's producing at a really high rate for your
- 5:32fantasy team streaming. Walley's hot.
- 5:35I wouldn't. He's the type of player that as
- 5:37long as he has the deployment, I'm looking to hold him because
- 5:39he's putting up shots, he's putting up points.
- 5:41So that's really what I'm going with right now.
- 5:43But obviously it's subject to change.
- 5:45If you see deployment change, his gets bumped offline.
- 5:48One, he's not playing with art anymore.
- 5:49I think his value really decreases at that point.
- 5:51So really keep that in mind. But if he's still there, he's
- 5:54must be on your roster for him deeply.
- 5:57Yeah, well said. You know, but Bedard is the the
- 6:03pedigree of talent that you think that anyone playing with
- 6:05him is gonna benefit. So if it's working with
- 6:08Bertuzzi, then they want to make it work.
- 6:10If that lasts, you're golden. I really like it as an ad Yeah,
- 6:16I think it could definitely be a a restless season hold depending
- 6:19on how things go. And it's all signs are pointing
- 6:21in the right direction. So it's a really good one.
- 6:25Let's move on to mine. I'm pretty happy with this one.
- 6:30So this is Jackson Lacombe from the Anaheim Ducks.
- 6:33It this is honestly a subtle flex cause I just added him in
- 6:36our main league but yeah he's been awesome.
- 6:39OK, OK. .79 points per game last month, .14 power play points,
- 6:462.5 shots and 1.21.21 blocks. So he's a defenseman, right?
- 6:51That's relevant for later on in the story.
- 6:53This is in the story. This is great production and his
- 6:59minutes have been up there, especially over the last two
- 7:01weeks. He's only owned 27% of leagues,
- 7:04but I think this number can climb pretty quickly, especially
- 7:07if he stays on the Ducks power play 1 and it seems like he's
- 7:09gonna do that. Six points in his last seven
- 7:12games and overlap span he's only gone one game without a point.
- 7:15Definitely worth an add in mid to deep points and bangers
- 7:18leagues. So looping around to the
- 7:22important detail from before. I didn't even know this, but he
- 7:25used to be a forward and now they're trying to make it work.
- 7:28Defensemen. Yeah, I feel like if you like a
- 7:30lot of people, if you don't really have the context for the
- 7:32player like you, you would have no idea about this, right?
- 7:35But he's he was a forward that they're playing at defensemen.
- 7:38So you really see a lot of offensive minded, offensive
- 7:42minded plays from him. That's why I think he's so he's
- 7:44been so prolific as a defenseman in terms of his offensive
- 7:47capabilities. He's still learning the game how
- 7:50to play defensively properly, which I guess is why maybe he's
- 7:54not the best in real life defenseman, but we don't care
- 7:56about that. We care about fantasy.
- 7:57And if he's on PS1 Anaheim team as a forward playing the power
- 8:01play quarterback, I mean, he could be really valuable.
- 8:04And also like to note, the only competition he has for that P1
- 8:08would be like Zellweger or Michkov.
- 8:11And both are scratches every other game at this point.
- 8:13So I think Lacombe is really exciting right now.
- 8:18He's kind of the type of player you don't really see often in
- 8:20fantasy right there, like a forward displaying ad.
- 8:22So I mean, he's hot right now. He's producing.
- 8:25Time to roll. The last time I could remember
- 8:28this happening was like 6-7 years ago when Brent Burns made
- 8:33that swap and he I mean. Yeah.
- 8:36I mean, we're not getting ahead of ourselves.
- 8:37He's not Brent Burns. No, but I'm just saying if it
- 8:41works, it works. And for fantasy specifically, as
- 8:43you mentioned, it's very exciting.
- 8:45So yeah, you gotta add him, and if he keeps this up, you're very
- 8:52happy. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:55Now bonus transaction. Yeah, So this is, we're calling
- 8:59this a bonus hold for for this week.
- 9:02This is gonna be Josh's hold, if you will.
- 9:05But we heard from one of our listeners, shout out to Clear
- 9:08Spirits, and he mentioned Michael Grandland.
- 9:11And he's absolutely right. He's totally old.
- 9:14He's still on line one power play one, but only has three
- 9:17points in his last 10 games, which is quite disappointing.
- 9:21We did expect some regression from his scorching pace at the
- 9:24beginning of the year, but not for him to slow down this much.
- 9:27His category covers also dipped quite a bit, but we can expect
- 9:31that to turn around for sure. His minutes have still been
- 9:35really great and I think the fact that the deployment hasn't
- 9:38changed despite the slowdown is a sign of good things to come
- 9:41moving forward. They're completely agree.
- 9:43So should I clear spirits for the the great suggestion and and
- 9:47yeah, Grantland definitely hold. I mean, this San Jose team is
- 9:50gonna have a it's ups and downs, but he's firmly in a top six
- 9:55role on P1. Like you don't really drop guys
- 9:58that have that deployment. Yeah, exactly.
- 10:00So it turns out that me mentioning someone earlier was a
- 10:06segue from the gods. So Kevin, I didn't even know
- 10:10that it was. There is really.
- 10:12No, I just didn't know. Wow.
- 10:14Brilliant. OK, so take it away.
- 10:16Well, Jake is trying to insinuate is my hold is Brent
- 10:21Burns. Now, listen, there's a lot of
- 10:23contact associated with this one because I, as a fellow person
- 10:27that just picked up Brent Burns last week with the ghost injury,
- 10:32wasn't too thrilled, right? Because listen, he's been
- 10:35rostering over 50% of leagues most of the year and he really
- 10:38hasn't been living up to that level of of roster percentage.
- 10:42The main thing is he's not P1. And that really hinders his
- 10:45value because he's not really getting you many defensive
- 10:48categories, right? Like he's not a huge blocker.
- 10:50He's mostly gonna get you shots and some points production.
- 10:52But if he's not a PP1, he's not really getting any points
- 10:54production. But Shane Gossiper gets hurt and
- 10:57then we're like, we're all very excited about no.
- 10:59Brent Burns finally get his opportunity to be a fantasy stud
- 11:02and then Rob Brendan were placed Ty Smith as a P1 and we all get
- 11:06deflated. And if you picked up Brent Burns
- 11:08disappointed, you maybe already dropped him.
- 11:10But I'm here to tell you that if you haven't dropped them yet, I
- 11:12would say hold on just a little longer because as of this
- 11:16morning we saw Brent Burns practicing on PP1.
- 11:19Now if he's practicing on PP1 while Gaspare is hurt, he
- 11:22becomes honestly potentially a league winner for the amount of
- 11:26stretch to Gaspars hurt. But that's what I'm saying.
- 11:29You need to have the context because we know that this can
- 11:31change. He wasn't the go to guy right
- 11:34away, so you have to keep that in mind.
- 11:36But if he's the power play, one quarterback for the Carolina
- 11:39Hurricanes, one of the best power plays in the league, I
- 11:41mean, he's gotta be a roster roster on your team.
- 11:44So that's what that's what I'm saying.
- 11:47If you have already dropped them, try picking them up again.
- 11:51But I'm just encouraging you to hold and see what happens.
- 11:55And then if it doesn't, it doesn't get P1, you just drop
- 11:57them. That's kind of where it's at.
- 11:59But if he does get P1 and you drop them, you're going to be
- 12:02devastated because somebody else is going to take them and you're
- 12:04gonna miss out. Yeah, I like it a lot.
- 12:07And yeah, so for my hold this week, I have Thomas Hurdle.
- 12:14He's still power play one in line 2 currently though.
- 12:18He's playing left wing, so if you're in a face off league
- 12:21that's certainly been inconvenient.
- 12:23But yeah, his shots and his hits over the past month have been
- 12:282.42 and 1.33 respectively. And the .75 blog blogs per game
- 12:34is pretty nice too. He's also averaging pretty solid
- 12:37minutes overall and the opportunity is still there.
- 12:40But sadly, the poisonous haven't come for him lately.
- 12:42He's on a 0.65 points pace this season and he was on .7 last
- 12:47year. So his current pace of .42 over
- 12:50the past month has been, you know, and the honestly, it's
- 12:53abysmal over the past two weeks to .33.
- 12:56That's going to positively regress.
- 12:57And I think, yeah, with his deployment and how great of a
- 13:00team Vegas is, you could probably expect .65 to .8.
- 13:04It's a pretty big range, but I think it's going to land within
- 13:06their rest of the season. So yeah, I'd want to hold them.
- 13:10Yeah, I think that's a good call as well.
- 13:12I think he has great deployment. He's on a great team.
- 13:15We see players like this come and go in there in their
- 13:18production. But I mean he set up for success
- 13:20being in that Vegas P1 and I would really wanna be dropping
- 13:23somebody that has that kind of deployment.
- 13:25Yeah, exactly. That's it.
- 13:27So let's move on to the drops, Kevin.
- 13:32All right, my drop, I don't know if it's going to be
- 13:34controversial or not, but it is a 72% owned defenseman for the
- 13:40Philadelphia Flyers. Travis Sanheim.
- 13:44I think for what he's producing, he is rostered in way too many
- 13:47leagues. He averages about 0.3 points per
- 13:50game, which is honestly is like literally nothing and less than
- 13:54two shots per game, less than two hits per game, less than two
- 13:56blocks a game. So for me, in my mindset with
- 13:59how I like to build my teams, I like my defensemen to be a
- 14:01specialist and something if they're not going to be getting
- 14:04points, like you're not getting any points, at least give me a
- 14:06lot of hits, a lot of blocks or a lot of shots.
- 14:08So Sondheim is really master of none and doesn't get you points.
- 14:12So I really feel that roster that 72% in leagues is way too
- 14:17high for somebody that you can probably stream better
- 14:18production off waivers. I mean, I'd much rather stream
- 14:21the hot defenseman is getting points or just got a better
- 14:24deployment or, you know, a blocks or hit specialists.
- 14:27And that impacts my fantasy team way more than just holding a guy
- 14:30that's gonna get me one of each and no points, right?
- 14:33So that's really what it comes down to.
- 14:35Obviously, depends how shallow your league is.
- 14:37If you're in a really, really, really deep league, I mean,
- 14:40maybe you can reconsider. It really depends on what your
- 14:41alternatives are. But I think in most leagues you
- 14:43can probably get better production on the waivers than
- 14:45what Travis Sanheim is offering you.
- 14:47I agree, I think it's one of those like really good real life
- 14:51defence pin that just it's so sporadic how it translates to
- 14:55fantasy that I'm just not excited about it.
- 14:58Even when he had that really hot 2-3 weeks there, I wasn't
- 15:03tempted to pick him up in any of my leagues.
- 15:05Did it last year. He burned me then so.
- 15:08Yeah, defenseman, it really just depends on OK, what's your power
- 15:11play deployment? Because if you're a top tier,
- 15:13the fantasy defenseman, you're gonna be on PS1, that's not
- 15:16really the case for him. And then if you're not on P1,
- 15:19you're a different archetype of defenseman where you're really
- 15:21good at like, you know, hits, blocks, some shots.
- 15:24And he's not really in that archetype either, right?
- 15:26So he's kind of in the middle ground.
- 15:27He's not really doing anything for your team, especially where
- 15:30it just really makes sense for your team to pick up somebody
- 15:33else. So basically you're saying he
- 15:35sucks at everything? I'm saying he's below average at
- 15:37everything. No, it's I agree though, I mean
- 15:42it is what it is with him is just one of those guys that's
- 15:45like sort of a master of none and he has his weeks for his
- 15:49relevant. Other than that, don't get too
- 15:50excited about it and you could safely drop him.
- 15:54And that concludes our AD whole drop episode for this.
- 15:58You do not even give your. Drop Ji know I just really don't
- 16:01want to say it because it brings me so much pain to do so.
- 16:05Ah OK, so my job for this week and I really hate it.
- 16:12I really, really do. But it has to be said, it's Luke
- 16:16Hughes. This hurts big time.
- 16:19And you know, the unfortunate part about this is that I really
- 16:22think he's such an elite talent. Clearly, you know, 4th overall
- 16:25Hughes, brother, amazing college degree.
- 16:28Degree. What amazing college careers.
- 16:31Parents know what he's studied. I have no idea.
- 16:34Anyway, you just really wish you were a huge brother or.
- 16:37Parent gotcha. Pause for applause.
- 16:41Anyway, so yeah, this is an elite talent as an offensive
- 16:45defenseman, but he is not going to crack that power play one
- 16:49this year barring an injury to Hamilton.
- 16:51Even though he's capable of amazing stretches to play for
- 16:53four to five games, you're not going to get the consistency.
- 16:57Very sad, especially in a bangers league.
- 16:59He doesn't do anything except shoot and it's very tough to
- 17:03roster a guy with, you know, such all over the place
- 17:06production if there are no peripherals or back categories
- 17:09to back it up. And you always got to keep them
- 17:12on your watch list because of course, if you ever does crack
- 17:16that power play one, I think you could do a lot better with it
- 17:18this year than you did last year.
- 17:21He's going to be a superstar one day, but at this stage, he can't
- 17:24be occupying a roster spot and not getting you anything.
- 17:27So yeah, no fire emoji after this sad, sad drop
- 17:32recommendation. No wolves either.
- 17:35Solemn. Noose, let's see how it is.
- 17:38But yeah, I mean, listen, I completely agree.
- 17:40I think he's been one of those players that can't be roster
- 17:42build the whole season. So he still Ross and almost 50%
- 17:45of leagues. I mean, that's too high.
- 17:47He's really not getting you anything for he's not
- 17:49contributing in any way for your fantasy team besides some shots
- 17:51and the odd point here and there.
- 17:53But that's not the type of player that you can hold.
- 17:55He he's held, he's held specifically for name value at
- 17:58this point. If he ever got people one and
- 18:00Hamilton got hurt, then obviously completely different
- 18:03conversation. But for the moment you can't
- 18:05hold on that on that promise. So yeah, he's a drop.
- 18:09Don't feel bad about it. Pick up anybody else and you'll
- 18:11be better off. Yeah, and and this OK, I I just
- 18:15need to spin this positively in some way or another.
- 18:18This isn't for this is not a dynasty podcast nor this is this
- 18:22a dynasty recommendation. But if you are in a dynasty
- 18:24league and you hold Luke Hughes, don't sell them like Quinn
- 18:27Hughes at this point in his career was not the Quinn Hughes
- 18:31of today. Luke Hughes is going to be
- 18:33great. It's just they have another
- 18:36bonafide superstar defenseman Dougie Hamilton on that power
- 18:39play one. This is a competing team right
- 18:41now. They don't care to develop their
- 18:42players. I mean, Luke Hughes is
- 18:45developing just by playing, but they're not putting an emphasis
- 18:47on crafting him to be like their guy this year.
- 18:50They just don't need that from him.
- 18:52So fortunately, that means it's a drop in redraft and it is what
- 18:56it is. But, you know, I hope by this
- 19:00time next year he's easy, 100% held in like 90 plus percent of
- 19:04leagues. I just don't see that being the
- 19:06case this year. So yeah, you could.
- 19:07You could draw them. Or now that wraps it up for this
- 19:10episode of a drop hold. Yeah, anyway, thank you to
