- 0:00Speaker 1: Weekdays three to seven pm.
- 0:03Speaker 2: A flash drive with Carl Weat on KFM ninety four
- 0:07Speaker 2: point five.
- 0:08Speaker 1: That's what it is. Welcome, welcome, so nice to have
- 0:10Speaker 1: you along for the ride today till seven pm. It's
- 0:12Speaker 1: a flash drive and k ninety four point five winning,
- 0:15Speaker 1: winning and more winning. But let's slow it down for
- 0:18Speaker 1: a second because I didn't get a chance to catch
- 0:20Speaker 1: up with Cassidy J. Nicholson today. Do you mind just
- 0:22Speaker 1: give me a moment there, let's catch up for a second.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Hey, Hello, how's it? How are you?
- 0:26Speaker 1: I walked into the office, yes, the studio, and you
- 0:30Speaker 1: were sitting on the floor. I mean, you're very grounded today.
- 0:34Speaker 1: What's happened?
- 0:35Speaker 4: I went, I had a nice six a m strength
- 0:38Speaker 4: and conditioning session.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I knew something like that.
- 0:40Speaker 4: It took something slowly, you know, we were talking after
- 0:43Speaker 4: Luminosity on the weekend. You are going at your own
- 0:45Speaker 4: pace and falling out of love with things that you love,
- 0:49Speaker 4: which is how I felt about Jim because.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I kept hurting myself enough.
- 0:52Speaker 4: And now I feel really strong this morning because I
- 0:58Speaker 4: took my time.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And yeah, I had fun and I didn't know myself.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It's so calm today. Thanks interesting, I got the zoomies
- 1:07Speaker 1: because that intron. That's also because there are many things
- 1:13Speaker 1: to give you today, like a cash back from Clicks,
- 1:16Speaker 1: flash word opportunity coming away. You could win the concept today.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It's a fresh one with a brand new price sponsor.
- 1:22Speaker 1: If you've ever heard of a place citrustal area called
- 1:25Speaker 1: peters Field, we got an email from the owners of
- 1:30Speaker 1: a certain mountain lodge.
- 1:31Speaker 3: There Okay street Credit, and they were like.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Hey, we want to be a part of the concept too.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, that's cool. So if you never play
- 1:37Speaker 1: that game, you're gonna play it a little bit later
- 1:40Speaker 1: on your show, which is great. Plus, we need to
- 1:42Speaker 1: check in on our sound archive if you missed out
- 1:44Speaker 1: on that on Friday, I know it was a sort
- 1:46Speaker 1: of a slower day. And what we did was I
- 1:49Speaker 1: heard that Australia have a sound archive detailing this sound
- 1:52Speaker 1: of history in Australia. I said, let's check South Africa's one.
- 1:56Speaker 1: We don't have one, the flash drive creator one. And
- 1:59Speaker 1: we went off and we got a bunch of different
- 2:01Speaker 1: things that you believe needs to be part of a
- 2:03Speaker 1: South African sound archive. Just kind of connecting to all
- 2:07Speaker 1: of those, I'm gonna say like these amazing things that
- 2:10Speaker 1: have happened and some not so amazing, but it's the
- 2:13Speaker 1: sound that kind of take us back. So we're gonna
- 2:15Speaker 1: give you another play of that to see if there's
- 2:16Speaker 1: anything else we're missing. I know that to producer Jody
- 2:20Speaker 1: in the booth, he took your comments, he took your
- 2:22Speaker 1: comments on Instagram adding and he actually added them. So
- 2:25Speaker 1: we have a nice full archive.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Yes, if you haven't seen it, if you don't know
- 2:29Speaker 4: what we're talking about, it is currently on the KFM socials.
- 2:32Speaker 4: We posted it yesterday, so you can see what things
- 2:34Speaker 4: we've already added, what we've already spoken about, and feel
- 2:37Speaker 4: free to go and leave a comment over there of
- 2:40Speaker 4: the things that are missing.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Nothing tastes like fresca. It's not inside, it's on top top,
- 2:47Speaker 1: you know those sorts of things. Yes, that's not bad.
- 2:50Speaker 1: All of them are there, and also some of the comments.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to the update today. But welcome to
- 2:54Speaker 1: your show The flash Drive. Let's get it going with Somber.
- 2:58Speaker 1: This is twelve to twelve Fancy Iggy Azalea and Charlie
- 3:03Speaker 1: XCX on the track It's Your flash Drive on KFM
- 3:05Speaker 1: ninety four point five hopefully you've had a fantastic day.
- 3:09Speaker 1: We've got lots of tidbits and things that could assist
- 3:12Speaker 1: you and help you today. Not only a two and
- 3:14Speaker 1: a half thousand cash back coming away soon, but there's
- 3:17Speaker 1: also let me foreshadow the concept today, there is a
- 3:21Speaker 1: Petersfield venue. Now for some reason, there's been an uptick
- 3:24Speaker 1: of people emailing Pietrice saying, hey, I'd like to be
- 3:27Speaker 1: part of the concept as an incentive, here is my
- 3:29Speaker 1: place to stay. I'm very big on tourism in the
- 3:33Speaker 1: Western Cape because we have a beautiful place, I believe,
- 3:35Speaker 1: and if we need to tour our own place. And
- 3:38Speaker 1: that's why so many of these I'm going to say
- 3:41Speaker 1: the word, can you forgive me for saying this? I'm
- 3:43Speaker 1: gonna say it's two words, can you forgive me? Hidden
- 3:46Speaker 1: gems or coming forward? I'm sorry, I apologize, but they're
- 3:49Speaker 1: coming forward and they're saying, like, now I can get
- 3:52Speaker 1: my venue on the map because it's a it's a
- 3:54Speaker 1: little prize like consensuality was there they So their response
- 3:59Speaker 1: to me was just the fact that the business and
- 4:02Speaker 1: the uptick of their concept, they are literally getting booked
- 4:06Speaker 1: out regularly. That's incredible based on this little game we
- 4:10Speaker 1: play called the Concept, So it's just two single word
- 4:13Speaker 1: clues daily. You have to listen every single day to
- 4:16Speaker 1: bowld the clues to see if you can find links
- 4:18Speaker 1: between the words and possibly even some of the links
- 4:23Speaker 1: between just a single word and what could be on
- 4:26Speaker 1: a piece of paper in front of us. That's how
- 4:27Speaker 1: it works. So it's a little bread crumbing, but the
- 4:29Speaker 1: word version to find out what's on our piece of
- 4:32Speaker 1: paper to win the prize. And this prize is in
- 4:36Speaker 1: the heart of Cedarberg Petersfield Mountain Cottage. It's situated in
- 4:41Speaker 1: that golden valley in Citrusdal, which I love so much.
- 4:43Speaker 1: There are other venues that I have visited in that
- 4:45Speaker 1: little area there, like pick a Nie screw up and
- 4:48Speaker 1: the baths and that sort of thing, but there are
- 4:49Speaker 1: other areas that I've yet to travel to and this
- 4:51Speaker 1: is one of them. So I'm very excited. The best
- 4:54Speaker 1: part of this whole thing is that this place is
- 4:56Speaker 1: completely pet friendly, and that's why I was happy that
- 5:00Speaker 1: they came forward and said, hey, here we go, let's
- 5:02Speaker 1: make it happen. So yeah, Petersfield Mountain Cottage are hooking
- 5:06Speaker 1: you up. They're going to give you and escape three
- 5:09Speaker 1: night weekends, stay Friday to Sunday for up to six
- 5:14Speaker 1: people in one of their four beautiful pet friendly homes.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I just think that sometimes I want to take these
- 5:22Speaker 1: for us and they bold, but no, it's all about
- 5:26Speaker 1: you thought about us, and it's about you figuring that out.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So just after four o'clock, just stick around for that
- 5:30Speaker 1: one cash back if you want one of those autumn
- 5:33Speaker 1: wildness goals. What's your autumn weillness goal?
- 5:36Speaker 5: Hmmm?
- 5:37Speaker 4: I think it's to stay moisturized.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Just stay moisturized.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, well, this is the thing. The seasons are changing.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Yeah right, and I got diagnosed with zema a few
- 5:50Speaker 4: years back. So my biggest thing is that over the
- 5:54Speaker 4: seasons when it gets colder, is I need to go
- 5:56Speaker 4: and invest in thicker face creams, thicker body creams because
- 6:00Speaker 4: if I do get flaky and ashy, then it can
- 6:02Speaker 4: lead to my exema flare ups.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Perfect good wellness goal. Thanks love it. You see what
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's so easy to share an autumn wellness goal,
- 6:11Speaker 1: So go for it, send me yours and win that
- 6:14Speaker 1: cash back. The keyword is clicks your name and ID
- 6:17Speaker 1: number necessary and send it our way and you can
- 6:19Speaker 1: win with clicks Field good pay less KFM naty four
- 6:22Speaker 1: point five. T'sncy supply.
- 6:27Speaker 6: Bottle, just like.
- 6:32Speaker 1: It's Lee coal with ice cream. AKA granted Della Lalli
- 6:35Speaker 1: to make you, Charlie, it's your show flash drive KFIM
- 6:38Speaker 1: ninety four point five. I'd said that because your daughter ooh, girl, girl,
- 6:44Speaker 1: that's sort of but you see, these things are part
- 6:46Speaker 1: of a sound history, sound cultural manifest of South Africa.
- 6:52Speaker 1: The other day I learned that Australia they've got their
- 6:55Speaker 1: own little bank of sounds. Yes, and there was a
- 6:58Speaker 1: certain political sound there was added to it. And then
- 7:00Speaker 1: I was like, okay to me Google and then I
- 7:02Speaker 1: googled and there's no sound archive for South Africa. And
- 7:06Speaker 1: that's why on Friday we started our very own But
- 7:09Speaker 1: it started with asking you about certain things that you
- 7:12Speaker 1: wanted added to a sound archive. And I'm very very
- 7:16Speaker 1: happy that we've added as many as you've sent to
- 7:20Speaker 1: the WhatsApp line and many as you've sent on the
- 7:22Speaker 1: comments or the post that we have up on KFM ZA.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Listening to this made me feel so warm, it made
- 7:29Speaker 1: me smile, It made me feel like, oh my word,
- 7:31Speaker 1: this is like an audio version of patriotism because we've
- 7:35Speaker 1: been through so many different things and phases, and I
- 7:39Speaker 1: think a large part of it. Adverts became a part
- 7:41Speaker 1: of our life. It became part of the way we
- 7:44Speaker 1: saw time.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I think that adverts because I noticed that that was
- 7:48Speaker 4: a lot of the comments, right, I played from this.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Ad, this ad.
- 7:51Speaker 4: But I think what was really beautiful is that South
- 7:54Speaker 4: Africans really do have their ear to the ground with
- 7:57Speaker 4: regards to like meme culture because the adverts that we
- 8:00Speaker 4: see on TV on indicative of what's happening in the time, right, Yes,
- 8:04Speaker 4: so it's more than just an adverts, it's the culture.
- 8:09Speaker 7: You know.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Someone reminded us on that post. Do you remember back
- 8:11Speaker 1: in the day they used to have like ads with
- 8:15Speaker 1: different cultural representations and race representations in the ads. Yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 1: that's this Africa that we came from in the nineties
- 8:21Speaker 1: and the advertising came out, so wowser. I can't wait
- 8:25Speaker 1: to play that. I will play it for you a
- 8:26Speaker 1: little later. But I know you've been working today and
- 8:28Speaker 1: you didn't even hear about the fact that Capeton commuters
- 8:31Speaker 1: could save around eleven minutes a day, you know how Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I need that more than anyone of course, you do, explain.
- 8:37Speaker 1: One surprising simple change could change this. It's car pooling.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Car pooling, maybe car pooling. Yes, so here's the thing,
- 8:45Speaker 1: new search shows. Okay, new research shows that sharing rides
- 8:49Speaker 1: could cut traffic times significantly, adding up to about sixty
- 8:52Speaker 1: seven hours saved a year, plus serious fuel savings as well.
- 8:56Speaker 1: With long commutes and heavy congestion already a daily reality,
- 9:00Speaker 1: the biggest fix might not be the new roads, just
- 9:03Speaker 1: fewer cars, so more people get into a single car.
- 9:06Speaker 1: It'll be a lot better for this particular you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: the environment, and for the times so less cause it
- 9:14Speaker 1: just means less congestion. So find a car pool and
- 9:18Speaker 1: get involved. Now, split the rates in the petrol. Maybe
- 9:21Speaker 1: save some money more importantly, save some time. Yes, all right,
- 9:24Speaker 1: So there's a there's a little thing that I learned,
- 9:28Speaker 1: just a quick one. I'm not a foot person per se,
- 9:33Speaker 1: but I heard that Los Angeles delivery driver went viral
- 9:35Speaker 1: because you know, when the delivery people have to place
- 9:39Speaker 1: a package down and then take a photo and then
- 9:41Speaker 1: send it on the app to say it's been delivered. Now,
- 9:44Speaker 1: this one decided to add her feet to it, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: suddenly French tip, I think, And then apparently the so apparently,
- 9:58Speaker 1: just this is a little hack that she wanted to
- 10:01Speaker 1: share that you got better tips that way. So if
- 10:03Speaker 1: you are indeed a delivery driver, show you show your
- 10:06Speaker 1: feet in the picture that is delivered, and you'll be fine.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I don't make these things up, Okay, I just I
- 10:13Speaker 1: just delivered the stats.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Clean your underwear, and a coffee machine.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Why would you do that? This is not a hotel room.
- 10:20Speaker 1: It's a delivery thing, that's what it is. This one
- 10:25Speaker 1: is crazy. Take a listen to this. Now you know
- 10:29Speaker 1: how sometimes you need to dodge an awkward conversation.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's every day of my life.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Okay, So, so what are some of your strategies in
- 10:36Speaker 1: order to dodge an awkward conversation? Like when you see
- 10:38Speaker 1: someone coming around and you know that they're a talker,
- 10:40Speaker 1: what do you do to dodge the conversation?
- 10:42Speaker 3: I pretend I get a phone call.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Okay, why are you laughing? I'm laughing because that's that's
- 10:51Speaker 1: that's a good way.
- 10:51Speaker 8: To do it.
- 10:52Speaker 4: And pretend I get a phone call or look, people
- 10:56Speaker 4: always just get busy on their phone.
- 10:59Speaker 8: So I do it.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I do another thing dark and tuck.
- 11:02Speaker 7: What you do?
- 11:03Speaker 8: No man?
- 11:03Speaker 1: So I kind of hold like with the band of
- 11:06Speaker 1: my pants or a bolt, and I said, like, I'm
- 11:10Speaker 1: on the way to the bosroom came and what's up?
- 11:12Speaker 1: And then suddenly the conversations are a lot, a lot
- 11:15Speaker 1: more punchy. But I always you need to hold that area,
- 11:18Speaker 1: not in the front, do it on the side that
- 11:21Speaker 1: way they know, like, I'm ready to take this baby
- 11:22Speaker 1: off and go, So don't talk.
- 11:24Speaker 3: To me so unbuttoning and this. Sorry, Yeah, come, let's
- 11:29Speaker 3: walk and talk.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, let's exactly okay, qubicle two or one? What do
- 11:32Speaker 1: you think? Oh? You two smiles? Better's fine, Let's go
- 11:35Speaker 1: in there quickly. You want to finish the conversation, all right. Oh,
- 11:38Speaker 1: but there's a woman that took it completely off grid
- 11:42Speaker 1: with the side she do. A fifty seven year old
- 11:45Speaker 1: woman from Madrid admitted she pretended to be blind for
- 11:48Speaker 1: twenty eight years, convincing family and friends she'd lost her
- 11:51Speaker 1: sight after an injury. Those around her supported her the
- 11:55Speaker 1: entire time, believing it is real. The truth eventually came out,
- 11:58Speaker 1: with past moments like perfectly applied makeup, raising questions her reason.
- 12:03Speaker 1: She says she simply avoided social interactions and Davy small
- 12:08Speaker 1: talk in a solution that she found worked, which was
- 12:11Speaker 1: for twenty eight years. Ah, she she faked the blindness.
- 12:15Speaker 4: I feel like you're just gonna encourage other types of conversations,
- 12:20Speaker 4: do you know what I mean? Also, I don't think
- 12:22Speaker 4: it's worth all the all the looks and the questions
- 12:25Speaker 4: and and then so on.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Do you know what I mean? Just with your chest,
- 12:28Speaker 3: be like, I'm busy. I need to go somewhere. I
- 12:31Speaker 3: need to go to the loop.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Your bolt, that's what I'm saying. Your hold hold just
- 12:35Speaker 1: like that elastic of your pants if you got on
- 12:37Speaker 1: those loose pants on. Yeah, she was hold that very
- 12:38Speaker 1: quickly and you go it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I just
- 12:41Speaker 1: gonna Okay, good to see you, as Holman.
- 12:43Speaker 3: I'm on the way to the Oh, my phone drinking,
- 12:45Speaker 3: my phone drinking.
- 12:45Speaker 1: That's your strategy. That's crazy stuff.
- 12:49Speaker 4: But now you have to get a tissue out for
- 12:50Speaker 4: your mom because she's crying because she thinks you're blind.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's that's the lady. Twenty eight years she
- 12:56Speaker 1: avoted small talk that way. That was her strategy to
- 12:58Speaker 1: do that particular thing. Wow, yeah, I thought I'd add
- 13:01Speaker 1: that to your mix. I mean, I know for a
- 13:03Speaker 1: fact that you've been working very hard and that's that's
- 13:05Speaker 1: yours because I want to look after you. Coming up
- 13:08Speaker 1: though our upgraded sound archive from South Africa. You're gonna
- 13:13Speaker 1: want to listen to these things. There's something about it
- 13:15Speaker 1: that warms the soul. And I'll spend that in the
- 13:17Speaker 1: next few minutes. It's your flash drive k IF in
- 13:19Speaker 1: ninety four point five. What miss it is low Wenley
- 13:24Speaker 1: on your show flash Drive k IF ninety four low
- 13:29Speaker 1: Wey Yeah, well Wenley, Yeah, he says that's.
- 13:33Speaker 8: His rap name.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's what when I interviewed him like a yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 1: maybe like a year two years back, he was like, ah,
- 13:40Speaker 1: low Wenley, that's his rap name. No one knows. It's
- 13:43Speaker 1: like Timothy Shallo may Is, like you know alias as Well.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Yeah. I just feel like, well is the last one
- 13:48Speaker 3: who can have a lull in front of his name
- 13:52Speaker 3: is Yeah.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I think Lowell's over, isn't it? You know, like young
- 13:56Speaker 1: and Lowell, especially young because like when you check those
- 13:59Speaker 1: those Owens out like young Buck and then you know
- 14:02Speaker 1: for a fact that it's it's kind of like five. Yeah,
- 14:08Speaker 1: So that's the that's an issue there if you certainly,
- 14:11Speaker 1: but how do you progress because your brand and everything
- 14:13Speaker 1: that is now like young Buck, we've seen seen.
- 14:17Speaker 3: With low bow Wow. He's now just dropped low and
- 14:20Speaker 3: now it's just bow Wow.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But low Wayne is still low Wayne and he will
- 14:25Speaker 1: but he's his stature is also short, so that makes sense.
- 14:28Speaker 1: So low does work for him. But not no, no, no,
- 14:32Speaker 1: he's That's what I'm saying.
- 14:33Speaker 3: He should be big. Why excuse me?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Just try that one more time?
- 14:40Speaker 3: Big Whenley?
- 14:42Speaker 1: Mm hmm sure for some reason what you said there?
- 14:48Speaker 1: It states so close to the b c cs as email,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean? One more time, just one.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I just want to make sure that it's all clear,
- 14:57Speaker 1: just to check, just a real lesson in here, just
- 15:00Speaker 1: to make sure that's an all clear with our rules
- 15:02Speaker 1: and regulations. Body say it again? So he shouldn't be
- 15:05Speaker 1: lil Winley because of his stature? What I should she
- 15:10Speaker 1: be big? Just one more time for me? Mate? Okay, sorry,
- 15:19Speaker 1: it's fun, yes, oh dear, thank you very much now, sir, okay,
- 15:38Speaker 1: sound archive can we get to that quickly. We've got
- 15:42Speaker 1: an updated sound archive little throwback Friday. I heard that
- 15:46Speaker 1: Australia has one of these sound archives detailing some of
- 15:49Speaker 1: the events in history. The audio. We didn't have one
- 15:52Speaker 1: in South Africa, I thought, shocking. Let's add ours. This
- 15:56Speaker 1: is our updated sound archive, brought to you by the
- 15:59Speaker 1: Flash Ivan KFM ninety four point five. Please enjoy. This
- 16:03Speaker 1: is gonna make you proudly South Africa.
- 16:05Speaker 6: Sister.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Alright, there's no.

- 17:11Speaker 1: to make it fun.
- 17:15Speaker 6: Touch me on my studio. I touch you on your studio.
- 17:17Speaker 1: You don't do that.
- 17:18Speaker 10: My name is Martin.
- 17:20Speaker 6: I stay in the road, my fellow South Africans.
- 17:23Speaker 3: When people's all baby, ill just call the maise. I
- 17:27Speaker 3: wanted to call the marse.

- 17:34Speaker 9: not just stomach out.
- 17:36Speaker 11: Just I am McEntire from Glasgow.
- 17:39Speaker 1: What kind of a marcht are you?
- 17:40Speaker 9: I'm a mccartiny macatin from embracappose no from Marrins Para.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Can't go look at don't pay, they don't go, Belie,
- 18:06Speaker 1: you don't numble in the furnage of business, Josh.
- 18:12Speaker 6: Lise, listen properly? Did you see I love the way
- 18:17Speaker 6: you said?
- 18:17Speaker 1: Thirty six? Thirty six?
- 18:20Speaker 6: These hands will never let you go? Woh will put
- 18:24Speaker 6: the pedal to the metal.
- 18:26Speaker 1: It's Friday Action Mix right here, Honey, I diggle and
- 18:32Speaker 1: I waggle, and I diggle and I gaggle.
- 18:34Speaker 5: Remember put the bottom each time when I come here, I.
- 18:43Speaker 6: Am abused, killing me so be.
- 18:48Speaker 3: He weally so.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Rey exkilling miss ud.
- 18:56Speaker 1: What but our sound archive is getting there.
- 19:20Speaker 3: It is crying and laughing at the same time.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Well done, guys, No, thank you.
- 19:26Speaker 6: This is a group effort.
- 19:27Speaker 1: No no, no, no no no. We don't can take
- 19:28Speaker 1: all the all the applaudits for that. No, that's a
- 19:30Speaker 1: group effort right there. And you know what we're gonna
- 19:32Speaker 1: build on that every single day of this year. We're
- 19:35Speaker 1: build the comprehensive sound archive because whenever I listen to that,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I don't know if you feel the same way, but
- 19:41Speaker 1: like I feel so proud to be a South African.
- 19:43Speaker 3: We've gone through a ay and it's been so fun.
- 19:46Speaker 1: No, this is great. So I mean, if you have
- 19:48Speaker 1: any others that you feel that three minute and I
- 19:51Speaker 1: think it's a two minute and fifty seven second clip
- 19:53Speaker 1: didn't cover, then you must add yours. That'd be wonderful
- 19:56Speaker 1: because I am really keen to hear what do you
- 19:58Speaker 1: feel about it?
- 19:59Speaker 12: God, I just got back into my car going to
- 20:02Speaker 12: the shop and I've gone goosies all the way home.
- 20:04Speaker 3: It's like a time capsule.
- 20:07Speaker 1: There we go. I mean, that's the thing that's all
- 20:08Speaker 1: these sound archives from South Africa. And I know, yes, Lawrence,
- 20:12Speaker 1: is that I'm missing the laugh of the Sun from
- 20:15Speaker 1: Teley Tubby's. But that's the English show, you know what
- 20:17Speaker 1: I mean. We want some such African stuff here, man, come.
- 20:20Speaker 3: On, Oh my gosh, call this is amazing.
- 20:24Speaker 1: What a great job, all time favorite. Thank you so much.
- 20:28Speaker 1: We know what We're going to keep on playing it
- 20:29Speaker 1: because every time I play that thing, I feel so elevated,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I feel so proud, I feel so good. And if
- 20:36Speaker 1: that can make you feel good, it's my responsibility to
- 20:38Speaker 1: spin it as often as possible. If you want to
- 20:41Speaker 1: add to it, this is what I really like. I'd
- 20:42Speaker 1: really like you to add to the mix as well.
- 20:45Speaker 6: That'd be beautiful feel and all emotions.
- 20:50Speaker 1: That's the whole idea. So your flash drive and it's
- 20:52Speaker 1: your country. Enjoy it a shanty. It's called happy. I
- 20:59Speaker 1: like it when you have. I really am, and I
- 21:01Speaker 1: think that it's important to be happy within your job too,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and this is why it's the flashdrar. By the way,
- 21:07Speaker 1: KF ninety four point five minime is Carl, This Cassidy,
- 21:09Speaker 1: Pietrice is here, Karen and is here. I brought the
- 21:11Speaker 1: entire team together because back in two thousand and four,
- 21:16Speaker 1: there was a tech employee and this employee Badge had
- 21:20Speaker 1: on it some of the rules for success within that company,
- 21:26Speaker 1: that massive tech company. The great thing is it was
- 21:29Speaker 1: discovered quite recently and a lot of these things and
- 21:34Speaker 1: this is on the employee card and I want to
- 21:36Speaker 1: track through it. These were really just cool to read
- 21:39Speaker 1: out because everybody's industry is different. Everybody has certain rules
- 21:43Speaker 1: for success in their own industry. Things that you need
- 21:45Speaker 1: to know to be someone who is revered, who can progress.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Those are the important things. So I want to read
- 21:51Speaker 1: you this because this uh two thousand and four tech
- 21:54Speaker 1: employee Badge stated the following to be successful in this company.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Let go of the old, make most of the future
- 22:03Speaker 1: less point number one. Everybody feels feels that feeling it.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Don't hold onto things, progress, move on. Always tell the truth.
- 22:12Speaker 1: We want to hear the bad news sooner than later.
- 22:15Speaker 1: So if you messed up, just say it. The highest
- 22:18Speaker 1: level of integrity is expected when in doubt, ask Learn
- 22:22Speaker 1: to be a good business person, not just a good
- 22:25Speaker 1: sales person. Everyone sweeps the floor. I love that one.
- 22:31Speaker 1: It was really cool. Be professional in your style speech
- 22:34Speaker 1: and follow up. Create win win relationships with our partners.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Listen to the customer. They almost always get it. Look
- 22:45Speaker 1: out for each other. Sharing information is a good thing.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Don't take yourself too seriously. Have fun, otherwise it is
- 22:53Speaker 1: not worth it. Keys rules for success at this massive
- 22:58Speaker 1: tech company. Now, this is great, profound stuff, but you know,
- 23:03Speaker 1: when you worked in your own space, your own company
- 23:05Speaker 1: for a while, you start learning about certain other things
- 23:10Speaker 1: that are actually the keys to success, not just punctuality, diligence,
- 23:14Speaker 1: hard work, being someone that's great to work with. You
- 23:19Speaker 1: learn some other hacks for success in your industry. And
- 23:24Speaker 1: that's why I wanted to track through everybody around this
- 23:27Speaker 1: table now, because I know we all work in the
- 23:30Speaker 1: same industry, and I want to see if everybody can compare.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I'll make a first example. Perhaps maybe in the taxi
- 23:38Speaker 1: driving industry, it is better to use your arm than
- 23:42Speaker 1: your indicator to get into another lane. Keys hacks for success. No,
- 23:49Speaker 1: because on the way to work it happened to me
- 23:50Speaker 1: there was no indicator, but I saw a man's hand,
- 23:53Speaker 1: like a whole arm coming out. Immediately, I was like, well,
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna let this do through. If you had to indicate,
- 23:59Speaker 1: I would have driven fast. And I'm like, that's genius,
- 24:02Speaker 1: because have you noticed that if you want to get
- 24:03Speaker 1: into a lane, all you have to do right, it's
- 24:06Speaker 1: a high key weight.
- 24:07Speaker 5: Man.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Just wait, I'm coming through you if you want to.
- 24:10Speaker 1: If you want to indicate, the person in that length
- 24:12Speaker 1: goes faster. They don't want you to be in front
- 24:14Speaker 1: of them. But a taxi driver, you use your whole arm.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Suddenly people stop and they wait for the taxi to
- 24:20Speaker 1: go past. It's amazing. So that's a hack for success
- 24:23Speaker 1: in taxi driving. That's what I believe, That's what I see.
- 24:26Speaker 1: But now let's look at our industry. Let's go around
- 24:28Speaker 1: the room.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Peetrice I think it's name drop to get what you want.
- 24:36Speaker 10: Name drop to get what you want. Yes, why would
- 24:39Speaker 10: you say that, Pietrice, Because I name drop your name
- 24:42Speaker 10: to get what I want.
- 24:48Speaker 1: That's what you know. I asked in that deliberty. This
- 24:50Speaker 1: the amount of times this man said, oh, my mechanic
- 24:52Speaker 1: gave me a discount. I'm like, why, I said, I
- 24:55Speaker 1: work with you.
- 24:59Speaker 3: That's very that's in life. In life, Pietrice will go,
- 25:02Speaker 3: oh yeah, no ca Yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 4: But then on social media, Kathy Nicholson, she's my mused, Yeah, look,
- 25:08Speaker 4: Cassidy's eating funny.
- 25:09Speaker 10: Okay, here's a great example. All right, I'm gonna let's
- 25:12Speaker 10: use Will Linley as an example.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 10: I message Wall normally and go hey, Woll, can you
- 25:18Speaker 10: come on the show? Will doesn't respond to me. I
- 25:22Speaker 10: go hey, Woll, Carl wants to know, can you come
- 25:25Speaker 10: on the show.
- 25:25Speaker 8: Guess what?
- 25:26Speaker 6: Woll phones me is like, I'm there.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Now, hilarious, hilarious interviews.
- 25:34Speaker 10: Drop his name, people like with there with there, with
- 25:37Speaker 10: the so name's not to give it you want? Great,
- 25:41Speaker 10: that's a good start.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Cassidy just greets everyone in the office.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Man, good one. You must just you know what I mean,
- 25:51Speaker 1: just greet everybody.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Yeah, take a moment, you know, don't don't bring any
- 25:56Speaker 4: of that outside in with you.
- 25:59Speaker 3: You must just greet, be civil. We're all here to
- 26:04Speaker 3: work and we want to have a good time while
- 26:05Speaker 3: we do it. You know what I mean. Don't be vindictive,
- 26:09Speaker 3: none of that. Keep that you have a hot lemon
- 26:12Speaker 3: water while you're at it.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Okay, good, good energies, good vibes, great.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Very personal subjective.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I have no idea what to do.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Me neither Karen Anne. Journalism, I think it's not about
- 26:26Speaker 1: what you know, it's about who you know.
- 26:29Speaker 12: And I think I've learned it doesn't matter what story
- 26:33Speaker 12: I'm doing, whether it's crime, politics, whatever it is, I
- 26:38Speaker 12: must be able to know who to call, who to
- 26:40Speaker 12: get the information from. If I don't know who my
- 26:44Speaker 12: sources are, who the contacts are, who the experts are,
- 26:48Speaker 12: I can't tell my story. There's nothing that I can
- 26:51Speaker 12: report on that is amazing.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Hacks for success in the industry, this is so good. Okay,
- 26:58Speaker 1: you see we building, so they were, surely, But it
- 27:00Speaker 1: can't only be our industry can't only be entertainment because
- 27:03Speaker 1: now we've got like the name dropping here who you know?
- 27:06Speaker 1: Because that works for a lot of industries and greeting everybody.
- 27:10Speaker 1: There are other industries. I mean, there's accounting, taxi driving
- 27:13Speaker 1: as I mentioned as well, maybe even the sports industry.
- 27:16Speaker 1: You know, I'm really I'm excited to hear from the
- 27:21Speaker 1: hospitality space what the hacks are success there, because you know,
- 27:24Speaker 1: when you get shouted at and people are getting really
- 27:27Speaker 1: irate and rude to you, I'm sure there's something that
- 27:30Speaker 1: people say in their minds that'll get them through that'd
- 27:33Speaker 1: be fantastic. In fact, all that I'm going to message
- 27:36Speaker 1: that came through here, I'm going to call you anonymous,
- 27:39Speaker 1: just in case that this is a hacker says I'm
- 27:41Speaker 1: an intern doctor and buying liquor things for the nursing staff.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Make sure we have a good relationship. They will go
- 27:48Speaker 1: above and beyond for you, but you must buy them
- 27:51Speaker 1: liquor things. That is a hack. That is a key
- 27:55Speaker 1: to success. Now if you buy people around you some
- 27:58Speaker 1: liquor things, especially that industry, especially those nurses. Bah, what
- 28:02Speaker 1: do you need? So there we go. There's a nice
- 28:05Speaker 1: little top of you in the medical industry. That's step
- 28:08Speaker 1: number one for you. I know there are several others
- 28:10Speaker 1: as well. That's just come through. In fact, here we go.
- 28:14Speaker 1: This is one I think this is the government one go.
- 28:18Speaker 11: You cannot get the job in government without the having
- 28:21Speaker 11: a connection.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I unfortunately don't have a connection. So I'm looking for
- 28:25Speaker 3: on because I want to work in the government.
- 28:27Speaker 1: There we go.
- 28:29Speaker 6: That's legit valid.
- 28:31Speaker 1: So yeah, so rules for success government ensure that you
- 28:34Speaker 1: have a good connection, preferably a family member. I understand. Great,
- 28:38Speaker 1: all right, so some good success steps coming through, I think.
- 28:41Speaker 1: So your industry, I want you to share. Now, go
- 28:44Speaker 1: for it, please, it'll be amazing zero two nine four
- 28:48Speaker 1: five zero nine four zero. Not only diligence, punctuality, poise.
- 28:55Speaker 1: I want to hear the real after you've been in
- 28:58Speaker 1: this job for a while, the real keys to success
- 29:02Speaker 1: and go so easy to fall in love. Olivia Dean
- 29:05Speaker 1: on your show The flash Drive KU film Lty four
- 29:07Speaker 1: point five, I just mentioned to you Amber that forgotten
- 29:11Speaker 1: two thousand and four tech employees badge that are all
- 29:13Speaker 1: the rules for success at that particular tech company. It
- 29:16Speaker 1: was great to hear. But I know that you have
- 29:18Speaker 1: a rule for success or a hack for success in
- 29:21Speaker 1: your field as well.
- 29:22Speaker 11: Right, yeah, So it's very important to use your skill
- 29:27Speaker 11: to your advantage. So I'm a pastry shift and the
- 29:31Speaker 11: managers and HL always the first to try the sweet treats,
- 29:35Speaker 11: all the new menu items that we're doing. So I'm
- 29:39Speaker 11: always in the good books because I'm just feeding people's
- 29:41Speaker 11: sweet things.
- 29:42Speaker 1: So obviously being a pastry shift, the idea is to
- 29:45Speaker 1: feed the people you need, feed who you need. Yes,
- 29:49Speaker 1: that's the hack done, feed who you need.
- 29:54Speaker 11: And also it's very important to take note of dietaries
- 29:57Speaker 11: because that also just adds the cherry on top.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I got you, I got you, because that people will
- 30:01Speaker 1: be very impressed for that, like, oh, what, how do
- 30:03Speaker 1: you know that I am a pescatarian? And then you
- 30:06Speaker 1: know they tend to love you even more. Feed who
- 30:10Speaker 1: you need. Love at Amber appreciate that, Carla, Hello, Hi, hey, Hi,
- 30:17Speaker 1: So a hack for success in your industry? What is it?
- 30:21Speaker 5: Well?
- 30:22Speaker 13: When I was just a candidate attorney and I was overwhelmed,
- 30:24Speaker 13: one of the pipers told me, you know, take these
- 30:27Speaker 13: things to the court, take these things to the master,
- 30:29Speaker 13: and if I don't want to accept it, just play
- 30:31Speaker 13: themb and break into tears. And it's worked every single time.
- 30:35Speaker 13: They love helping you. It never works to have an
- 30:38Speaker 13: attitude and telling them that you know it's right. Just
- 30:41Speaker 13: break down in tears and tell them I'm so sorry,
- 30:43Speaker 13: I'm going to get in so much trouble.
- 30:45Speaker 1: And they always out so tears for anybody who you
- 30:49Speaker 1: require for Edmund, especially the Master's office. I have a
- 30:53Speaker 1: close friend who's been there several times and has new
- 30:56Speaker 1: story every time he goes there. I won't mention name,
- 31:00Speaker 1: but are you saying that that person should cry?
- 31:04Speaker 13: Yare normally it's it's tears of frustration, But I don't
- 31:07Speaker 13: know that. Just act as if you are very dumb
- 31:09Speaker 13: and very scared of going back to the office having
- 31:12Speaker 13: these things not been accepted or lodged.
- 31:14Speaker 1: This is a good this is a good idea. I
- 31:16Speaker 1: love this. Thank you so much, Gadler. Think you feed
- 31:19Speaker 1: who you need and tears to open administrative doors.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Can confirm that the tears also work if you're running
- 31:27Speaker 3: late for a flight.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Does it work for the person at the little desk there?
- 31:32Speaker 8: Really?
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 31:33Speaker 1: I didn't mention mine for this industry, all right? A
- 31:36Speaker 1: hack for success?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 31:37Speaker 1: Have a backup plan?
- 31:39Speaker 3: Really?
- 31:39Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 31:40Speaker 3: You look like the kind of guy that would commit
- 31:42Speaker 3: to plan A No.
- 31:43Speaker 1: No, I am a commite of plan a definitely. That's
- 31:46Speaker 1: why I'm saying this to myself. Contracts are quite small
- 31:50Speaker 1: in our industry, as you as you may know, backup, Yeah, exactly.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Contracts go from anywhere from ad hoc to freelancer to
- 31:58Speaker 1: one year, maybe two years. If you are like a
- 32:02Speaker 1: like a proper headliner, maybe you get a five year whoa. Yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 1: but but sort of one and two is kind of
- 32:12Speaker 1: where you roll in this industry. So when I say that,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I mean hack for success, have a backup plan, have
- 32:18Speaker 1: a have a side gig. You don't just have have
- 32:21Speaker 1: something on the side. And that's why I'm kind of
- 32:24Speaker 1: I'm telling myself that though, because I have committed to
- 32:27Speaker 1: plan A, so the pop is real, you know, you
- 32:30Speaker 1: never know. Sorry, I don't have any other properties. I
- 32:35Speaker 1: have no other sort of things like that. This is
- 32:37Speaker 1: I've bet on plan A on this one. Okay, okay, yeah,
- 32:41Speaker 1: So there's me vulnerable, me in this position.
- 32:45Speaker 3: It's okay, it's okay, Yeah, it's okay to be vulnerable.
- 32:47Speaker 6: Thank you very much.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I appreciate that, thank you. So, yes, there's a hack
- 32:51Speaker 1: for success. If you want to get into radio, have
- 32:54Speaker 1: something and something else, just try yeah, have have something else.
- 32:58Speaker 1: In the bag, you never know. And then Sasha says,
- 33:02Speaker 1: just some some practical things like writing things down. In
- 33:05Speaker 1: most industries, not a lot of people do that, and
- 33:08Speaker 1: also actually write it down like you do, Cassidy, as
- 33:11Speaker 1: opposed to put in your phone notes.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Yes, I write everything down.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I know you do. You write even phrases that I
- 33:17Speaker 1: give you. You write it down, then it gets transcribed
- 33:20Speaker 1: into your notes on your phone. And now you say
- 33:22Speaker 1: you're gonna save it for when I turn forty in June,
- 33:24Speaker 1: which I'm worried about. Yes. And then Andrewa is saying,
- 33:29Speaker 1: not a hack exactly, but something to keep in mind
- 33:31Speaker 1: by anyone in any industry. We have to deal with people.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I do not look good in orange and prison food sucks.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Let's call it a mantra for when people h when
- 33:42Speaker 1: people it is odd. Yeah, focus on that I don't
- 33:45Speaker 1: look good in orange, prison food sucks.
- 33:47Speaker 3: And also, I mean this is also just for every
- 33:50Speaker 3: every industry.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:51Speaker 4: I learned it when I worked in hospitality. Yes, people
- 33:54Speaker 4: love the sound of their own name.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Really, Cassidy, why would you say that, Cassidy.
- 34:00Speaker 4: I realized when I was working for that event company.
- 34:04Speaker 4: It's okay, don't overdo it?
- 34:06Speaker 8: What do you do?
- 34:07Speaker 4: But it's incredibly personal. It makes people feel like you're
- 34:10Speaker 4: invested in them and their story. So when you are
- 34:14Speaker 4: conversing with someone, or you are helping a table for
- 34:17Speaker 4: the whole night, or you or you have a meeting,
- 34:19Speaker 4: it's really important to know the people that you are conversing, meeting,
- 34:23Speaker 4: interviewing with.
- 34:25Speaker 1: This is a very good bit of advice, especially for
- 34:28Speaker 1: the younger individuals going into industry. That is, it's brilliant. Yeah,
- 34:32Speaker 1: all right, well, thank you for the hacks. If there's
- 34:33Speaker 1: any more, drop it on the one sapp line. I
- 34:35Speaker 1: know that there's no hack for the concept. You just
- 34:37Speaker 1: have to figure it out. That's on its way to you.
- 34:39Speaker 1: But ew and traffic with Pick and Pay and Cassidy
- 34:42Speaker 1: before traffic jams, let's shad strawberry, jam, apricot or anything
- 34:45Speaker 1: else you'd like to put on your toast, Cassidy and
