- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop quasi the
- 0:31porch. It's pouring dark, rainy.
- 0:33I can hear the Roosters off in the distance.
- 0:34Sun isn't even cracking yet, but I'm out here getting ready to
- 0:39talk to you and maybe you can hear the rain pouring in the
- 0:42background as it's coming off the roof.
- 0:44You know it's it's a lot. Anyway, we're talking about this
- 0:48today, this journey of self discovery that we are all on.
- 0:53And being on a journey of self discovery is not easy, my
- 0:58friends. And it is really important to
- 1:02listen to the one keyword that's in what I just said, and it was
- 1:06self. And the reason that this is so
- 1:09important, especially this time of year, comes back to right
- 1:14now. If you're in that place of
- 1:16getting ready to transition over and start making your plans and
- 1:19getting excited like we've been talking about and thinking about
- 1:21what you want to make your goals be for 2025 and all that good
- 1:25stuff. It's important to recognize not
- 1:30everyone is on your journey. Not everyone is on your journey.
- 1:34It's a journey of self discovery.
- 1:36We are here to have self discovery, learn about
- 1:40ourselves, understand ourselves. And it seems incredibly obvious
- 1:48that it is called self discovery for a reason.
- 1:52But we are constantly looking at every other journey and we're
- 1:56judging other people's journey and we're judging other things
- 1:59that are happening instead of putting our attention on
- 2:02ourselves. Instead of saying I'm going to
- 2:04pay attention to my journey right now because that's what's
- 2:07so important. And I'm going to put my journey
- 2:10in this place up front because we feel like that could be
- 2:13selfish. But here's an interesting
- 2:16thought. If you are not taking care of
- 2:19your own journey, you can't take care of someone else's.
- 2:21And you have no right to talk to them about what they are either
- 2:25doing correctly or incorrectly. Because one, maybe they didn't
- 2:28ask and two, you are supposed to be focusing on your journey.
- 2:33So basically we're talking kindergarten rules, my friends,
- 2:36where it's like, keep your eyes on your table, on your work,
- 2:40keep your hands to yourself. Please do not touch anyone
- 2:43else's Plato crayons or papers. You know basic kindergarten
- 2:48rules. Now, that doesn't mean if they
- 2:50ask for help that you don't help.
- 2:52But I feel as though this time of the year is always a great
- 2:55time to reflect on this because when you are on a path of self
- 3:00recovery, you have to keep asking better questions of
- 3:04yourself. What was the reason I reacted
- 3:07this way? What was my outcome?
- 3:09What was I thinking when I said XY and Z?
- 3:12There's so many little integral parts of asking questions of
- 3:15ourselves on a path of self discovery that can be really,
- 3:19really helpful to us if we choose to look at it.
- 3:22And that's part of the the real crux of what I want to get
- 3:26across today. If we choose to look at it.
- 3:29And by not choosing to look at it, we set ourselves up for this
- 3:33colossal let down. Because ultimately the most
- 3:37important thing that we could possibly do for ourselves is to
- 3:41recognize that we have this innate need to grow inside of
- 3:46us. And when we shut that down by
- 3:50giving us ourselves a label or saying, you know, this is too
- 3:54hard or I don't understand or I'm just defeated because one
- 3:59thing showed up, we start to look outside of ourselves for
- 4:03other things to do. And that's when we start to pull
- 4:08in other people. We start to pull in other
- 4:11thoughts. We start to pull in other
- 4:12beliefs instead of saying, Nope, you know what?
- 4:15I bless them on their journey. I'm going to stay focused on me
- 4:18and I'm going to be the best me that I can be.
- 4:20And I'm going to show up the best way because ultimately
- 4:23that's how you change a situation.
- 4:25When you can change your own path and change how you respond,
- 4:29ultimately you change the situation.
- 4:31So for instance, think about the fact that you might be someone
- 4:35who gets anxious about things. So when you show up in a
- 4:38situation, you bring your anxiety to it.
- 4:41The best thing that you can do for that situation and your path
- 4:44of self discovery is to say, OK, I'm going to leave my anxious
- 4:48self, my anxiety aside and then I'm going to go.
- 4:51And I'm not going to show up with that.
- 4:53I'm going to just be chill. I'm going to keep monitoring
- 4:56myself. I'm going to know what my
- 4:58buttons are ahead of time. I'm going to be prepared and I'm
- 5:00going to go in and ultimately you just doing that one little
- 5:04thing will change the situation overall because people will
- 5:08respond differently when you respond differently.
- 5:12They might not be perfect. Put me rephrase that.
- 5:14They will not be perfect. They this will not go 100% the
- 5:18way you want it to go. However, it can still go 80% the
- 5:22way you want it to go. It can still feel 80% better.
- 5:25And if you were 80% better, isn't that a great way to start
- 5:29figuring out what you want for the new year?
- 5:31So my friends, consider it, it's a path of self discovery.
- 5:35So it's not selfish to put it on yourself for this portion.
- 5:40It, it doesn't mean you don't share, it doesn't mean that you
- 5:43don't give, it doesn't mean that you don't care.
- 5:45It just means that you are on your path of self discovery 1st
- 5:49and then you do a better job for everyone else.
- 5:51All right my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I will
- 5:54see you tomorrow. Bye.
