- 0:02Speaker 1: Good morning, Good morning morning, Welcome walk Frome, welcome Meeting's
- 0:05Speaker 1: time now for car talk, bright sunshiny Thursday, and you
- 0:09Speaker 1: know what that means. It's time to buy a car.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hey doing, Brad, I've been very well Tom.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Good morning to everyone out there listening to us again
- 0:17Speaker 3: on this beautiful Thursday morning in Bartlesville. I can see
- 0:21Speaker 3: the kind of the skyline of Bartlesville in the distance
- 0:24Speaker 3: and from the studio here and I've got my friend
- 0:27Speaker 3: Chad Inglehart from the Splash Phillip sixty six Splash Club
- 0:31Speaker 3: here in Bartlesville.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Welcome, good morning, Brad morning, thanks for having me in.
- 0:35Speaker 5: Anxious to have a little conversation about the swim team
- 0:38Speaker 5: and how we impact the community.
- 0:40Speaker 4: So we're excited about this opportunity.
- 0:42Speaker 3: We're really excited to have you here and to learn
- 0:46Speaker 3: more about the Splash Club.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I've been kind of around it a long time.
- 0:52Speaker 3: And you guys started a long time ago in Bartlesville,
- 0:55Speaker 3: just like my family business did, and like those kinds
- 1:00Speaker 3: of things, and you guys work really hard to develop
- 1:03Speaker 3: people and create those kinds of disciplines. I guess it
- 1:08Speaker 3: takes to kind of put together some kind of a
- 1:15Speaker 3: passion for life.
- 1:16Speaker 5: I think the passion comes from inside them, but we
- 1:19Speaker 5: definitely try and develop I guess what would call good citizens.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Our vision is challenging tomorrow's leaders and building lifelong champions.
- 1:28Speaker 5: And I think I hope that I am judged fairly
- 1:32Speaker 5: and positively when they get to be thirty and forty
- 1:34Speaker 5: years old. What did they learn and what were those
- 1:38Speaker 5: foundational skills that we help them develop that have carried
- 1:42Speaker 5: them on through life? And do they go out and
- 1:45Speaker 5: be leaders in their community and be leaders in their
- 1:47Speaker 5: homes and do things that benefit the people around them.
- 1:51Speaker 3: That's awesome. That's a common theme here on the show.
- 1:54Speaker 3: We definitely appreciate that. We call it sparks at the dealership,
- 1:59Speaker 3: and that's a thing that employees came up with.
- 2:02Speaker 2: A picture of my grandfather.
- 2:04Speaker 3: So really the very beginning, he was on a basketball
- 2:08Speaker 3: team sponsored by a Ford dealer in Tonquah, Oklahoma, in
- 2:12Speaker 3: nineteen twenty four, and there's a picture of him there
- 2:15Speaker 3: with two of his brothers on that team, and my
- 2:19Speaker 3: great grandmother wrote the scores of every basketball game on
- 2:22Speaker 3: the back of the picture. And a few years later
- 2:26Speaker 3: he and his one of the brothers in the picture
- 2:30Speaker 3: came graduate from college and came back and got the
- 2:32Speaker 3: opportunity to buy the dealership there in nineteen twenty nine.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Kind of a challenging time economically, but that's when we
- 2:41Speaker 3: got into the car business. And it was really about
- 2:44Speaker 3: that sports team thing where you learn to work together
- 2:50Speaker 3: on something. And swimming is kind of an individual sport,
- 2:54Speaker 3: but it's a team sport too, and that discipline of
- 2:57Speaker 3: working towards your goals and competition. There is a theme
- 3:01Speaker 3: that goes through our life. I think I agree with.
- 3:04Speaker 5: You, and I think when you get on the blocks,
- 3:06Speaker 5: you're by yourself. But I think if it's done right,
- 3:09Speaker 5: every day you have a family and you get on
- 3:11Speaker 5: those blocks, that family goes with you and you feel
- 3:14Speaker 5: their support and you feel their love and desire for
- 3:17Speaker 5: you to be successful well.
- 3:18Speaker 3: And and the work too, kind of the layers of
- 3:22Speaker 3: of of things so that you know, because you get
- 3:25Speaker 3: better once, you know at swimming, when you start to
- 3:29Speaker 3: get more comfortable with it, learn the different strokes, get
- 3:33Speaker 3: more fit, you know, you get you start to grow.
- 3:35Speaker 3: I mean because you start with sometimes young children, we do,
- 3:39Speaker 3: and their bodies are changing, they're they're learning a lot
- 3:44Speaker 3: of things. Then they start to grow and get stronger,
- 3:46Speaker 3: and sometimes they can be quite good at it, but
- 3:49Speaker 3: sometimes that's not really what it's about, is it.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Well, everybody loves to win, and everybody loves to get better.
- 3:56Speaker 5: But I think we start them as early as three
- 3:58Speaker 5: years old in our lessons program and watching them go
- 4:01Speaker 5: through each phase of the program and how they grow
- 4:04Speaker 5: and mature, and I hope we don't emphasize who touches
- 4:09Speaker 5: the wall first as much as we emphasize the journey
- 4:13Speaker 5: to the end of the wall, to the end of
- 4:15Speaker 5: the pool. We talk a lot about personal development that
- 4:19Speaker 5: that growth mindset and having kids work through challenges and
- 4:24Speaker 5: work through setbacks and obstacles.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Life is tough. I believe it was the Rocky movie
- 4:30Speaker 4: that talked about life.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Nothing will hit you harder than life, and when you
- 4:34Speaker 5: get knocked down, you just have to keep moving. And
- 4:36Speaker 5: when we try and provide them reasonable failures and reasonable
- 4:40Speaker 5: obstacles and challenges so that they can harden themselves and
- 4:44Speaker 5: strengthen themselves. And you talk about building that confidence and
- 4:47Speaker 5: that confidence to go through life and persevere.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and resilient and focused on a goal too. I
- 4:56Speaker 3: think is also really important stuff there. And you guys
- 5:01Speaker 3: have been doing in Barrilsviok. Like I said, for a
- 5:02Speaker 3: long time, over seventy five years.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Now, in seventy five years.
- 5:06Speaker 5: We had a big celebration last fall or seventy fifth anniversary.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Routy Gaines was in town. We had all kinds of alumni.
- 5:11Speaker 5: It was a magical weekend. That's awesome.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And of course there's always stuff going on.
- 5:18Speaker 3: You guys are busy year round. But what's going on
- 5:21Speaker 3: these days? What are you guys up to? Now?
- 5:23Speaker 5: We're back in the water. We took spring break off.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Everybody got to enjoy it. Even the coaches took a
- 5:29Speaker 5: little time away from the pool. We're back in the
- 5:30Speaker 5: water now we'll get going. We've got a couple of
- 5:33Speaker 5: meets in April. We'll be over in Edmund and down
- 5:36Speaker 5: and Jinks. We typically host the big Stars of Winter
- 5:40Speaker 5: or Excoose me Stars of Summer in June. We're gonna
- 5:43Speaker 5: go a little bit different direction this year. It's just
- 5:46Speaker 5: hard to get people to come to an outdoor meet
- 5:48Speaker 5: sometimes nowadays with the weather and everything else and so
- 5:50Speaker 5: many indoor options, So we're gonna go a little bit
- 5:52Speaker 5: different there.
- 5:52Speaker 2: But we'll go.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Through the summer season. State championships in July.
- 5:56Speaker 5: We've got kids traveling to Dallas and Austin and like that.
- 6:00Speaker 5: So our top swimmers will do some travel.
- 6:02Speaker 4: But just just basically getting back into it and getting
- 6:05Speaker 4: that grind down.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Unlike some sports, I think our practices are probably our
- 6:10Speaker 5: most important thing, not necessarily meets and and and what
- 6:13Speaker 5: we do on a daily basis, and the teaching and
- 6:15Speaker 5: learning that they do there is really the important things
- 6:19Speaker 5: to us as a staff.
- 6:20Speaker 4: And hopefully we've.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Conveyed that to our parents and have that buy it
- 6:23Speaker 5: as well and the kids. The kids start to enjoy
- 6:26Speaker 5: the journey yea, and day to day journey and and
- 6:29Speaker 5: and that.
- 6:29Speaker 2: That wellbody does Leny sport for very long.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Really, I think that does become kind of ingrained in
- 6:35Speaker 3: them that work. You you know, it shows maybe in
- 6:38Speaker 3: the competition and in the games, but but it's you
- 6:42Speaker 3: don't get there without that journey, without the practice of both.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Being able to smile.
- 6:47Speaker 5: They was the sleeping beauty and the and the dwarves
- 6:50Speaker 5: whistle while you work, being able to enjoy your day
- 6:54Speaker 5: and and enjoy the journey that you're on, enjoy the
- 6:57Speaker 5: people you're with, and.
- 6:59Speaker 4: And we're through that.
- 7:00Speaker 5: I think that that daily support of each other. I
- 7:03Speaker 5: know when COVID, we were talking about COVID earlier, when
- 7:05Speaker 5: COVID hit, we were so fortunate to be able to
- 7:07Speaker 5: get into daily practices, and I think that made a
- 7:10Speaker 5: world of difference in our kids' lives, having that community
- 7:13Speaker 5: and having that opportunity to sweat together and just bond
- 7:19Speaker 5: together through something when all life and everything around you
- 7:23Speaker 5: was chaos and a mess. So I do think that
- 7:27Speaker 5: journey is very very important, and I think it helps
- 7:29Speaker 5: them as they go onto life. And some days you
- 7:32Speaker 5: just don't want to get out of bed, But if
- 7:34Speaker 5: you've learned to enjoy that and learned how to embrace
- 7:38Speaker 5: some of those grinds, I think you smile a little
- 7:41Speaker 5: bit more and you've got a feeling deep inside.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I mean, I know I've learned that I really look
- 7:47Speaker 3: forward to getting out of bed in that first part,
- 7:49Speaker 3: that the rituals and routines of the practice every day
- 7:53Speaker 3: and layering that up and yeah, it makes the rest
- 7:58Speaker 3: of the day easier, I think as you get older,
- 8:00Speaker 3: and yeah, it's important.
- 8:03Speaker 4: As we get older, some days it's just good to
- 8:04Speaker 4: get out of it.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Yeah that's for sure.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Yeah, no doubt so yeah, we do that every day
- 8:10Speaker 3: at the dealership too. A lot of similarities I think
- 8:14Speaker 3: in business, you know, certainly, and trying to create a
- 8:17Speaker 3: team and an environment where people feel supported and want
- 8:21Speaker 3: to participate in something that's beyond just individual uh, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 3: accomplishment or punching the clock. It's it's it's really about
- 8:30Speaker 3: what we all do together and and what that results
- 8:33Speaker 3: in for us as a group and for our customers
- 8:36Speaker 3: and the community as a whole. It it really is
- 8:40Speaker 3: an important part of of our business and has been
- 8:43Speaker 3: now for almost one hundred years. And we're proud of that.
- 8:48Speaker 3: And I'm happy to support the Splash Club again this year.
- 8:52Speaker 4: And and you know, I really appreciate your support.
- 8:55Speaker 3: That I think it's it's you guys have been through
- 8:58Speaker 3: a lot of changes, your Phillip sixty six Slash Club,
- 9:02Speaker 3: but we were there were.
- 9:05Speaker 2: But for most people probably still remember that we.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Were still blessed to be able to use their facility.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Aquatic Center is still our home base. We have gone
- 9:15Speaker 5: through quite a bit of organizational transition and then move
- 9:18Speaker 5: some things.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Around like the rest of the community. Yes, I been
- 9:21Speaker 3: to fundraise a little more.
- 9:23Speaker 2: We are feeling and.
- 9:24Speaker 5: We are hat in hand a little bit more than
- 9:26Speaker 5: we used to be, but the community has been tremendous
- 9:29Speaker 5: to us, and I think that's a show of respect
- 9:34Speaker 5: for what we've done and the show of admiration for
- 9:37Speaker 5: how long we've been here and the impact we've made
- 9:39Speaker 5: in the community. We do host some major events. We
- 9:42Speaker 5: actually still host the Oklahoma Senior State Championships, so every March.
- 9:46Speaker 5: There's three weeks ago, we had over three hundred kids,
- 9:49Speaker 5: over six hundred people came into Marrowsville for three and
- 9:52Speaker 5: a half days for the state championship. We were second.
- 9:55Speaker 5: We won it in the past. We were second this year,
- 9:57Speaker 5: but just a great impact in the community.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Though.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Tells were full, the restaurants were full, people were people
- 10:03Speaker 5: were here seeing what Barswow had to offer for three
- 10:06Speaker 5: and a half days.
- 10:07Speaker 4: And it was it was a wonderful event.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 3: And and that whole community you create around any sport
- 10:14Speaker 3: and swimming in particular, uh, that that really is amazing.
- 10:19Speaker 3: And like I said, for decades now, you guys have
- 10:21Speaker 3: been doing it here in Bartlesville, and and thank you
- 10:24Speaker 3: to all the sponsors that make it possible for you
- 10:26Speaker 3: guys to go on.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I know that that is critical and.
- 10:32Speaker 3: You know, so if people are listening and they are
- 10:35Speaker 3: you know, maybe they have somebody kid or their child
- 10:40Speaker 3: might be interested. How do the people get more information?
- 10:42Speaker 3: What's the best way to to kind of take that
- 10:45Speaker 3: first step.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Our website is probably the best first step.
- 10:48Speaker 5: It's splash club dash Okay dot com like splash club
- 10:53Speaker 5: Oklahoma dot com. So splash club all one word dash
- 10:56Speaker 5: Okay dot com or just call me up. I don't
- 11:01Speaker 5: have any problem. I'll answer in the phone and helping
- 11:03Speaker 5: somebody guide them through. My number is nine to one
- 11:06Speaker 5: eight eight seven six two zero five two, and unfortunately
- 11:11Speaker 5: I've got that with me just about my entire life.
- 11:14Speaker 5: So I'll usually answer that question that pretty quickly, or
- 11:17Speaker 5: you can leave me a message and we'll get you
- 11:18Speaker 5: hooked up. And that goes for sponsors too. If if
- 11:21Speaker 5: we've got somebody that would like to be involved in US,
- 11:24Speaker 5: we would really appreciate it. And it does go a
- 11:27Speaker 5: long ways to helping kids get involved with scholarships and
- 11:31Speaker 5: things like that. Just kind of keeping fees low.
- 11:33Speaker 3: And you are it is a club sport, it is.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Let's kind of frame this. Of course, you have a
- 11:38Speaker 3: lot of your I guess members are a part of
- 11:42Speaker 3: the like the high school swimming team, things like that.
- 11:45Speaker 3: But it's a separate organization. You guys are exists just
- 11:49Speaker 3: to help this and it starts what is the youngest
- 11:53Speaker 3: people each.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Three We start with them in three lessons, So as
- 11:56Speaker 5: soon as they're potty training and they're three years old,
- 11:58Speaker 5: we'll get them in lessons. We actually had the youngest
- 12:01Speaker 5: little girl at the state championships last summer, little Arison Ellis.
- 12:07Speaker 5: She was five years old, competing to the state championships
- 12:09Speaker 5: with wonderful little girl. She was sibling of a couple
- 12:12Speaker 5: of boys. Grayson was actually fourth this year at the
- 12:15Speaker 5: state championships in the five hundred thre year older brother
- 12:18Speaker 5: for the high school team. So it becomes a family
- 12:20Speaker 5: event and it's just really cool to see that. But
- 12:22Speaker 5: so they started three. Aiden, Howse just graduated or is
- 12:27Speaker 5: graduating next month from University Kentucky. Okay, sorry, scratch that.
- 12:32Speaker 5: My son just graduated from UIs to Kentucky. Aiden is
- 12:35Speaker 5: graduating from unis Versity of Kansas, which is where I
- 12:37Speaker 5: graduated from. Sorry about that, Aiden, but she swam all
- 12:40Speaker 5: four years, was on scholarship there, did a wonderful job.
- 12:43Speaker 5: So we'll take them all the way through their journey
- 12:46Speaker 5: and then release them on to the community and hopefully
- 12:50Speaker 5: doing some more things. Like Aiden is taking a job
- 12:52Speaker 5: as an accountant in Tulsa and doing some amazing things.
- 12:55Speaker 5: So it's really fun to watch them progress through life as.
- 12:59Speaker 4: You meant should. I do coach the high school team
- 13:01Speaker 4: as well.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Most of the kids on the high school team come
- 13:04Speaker 5: through the club and go from there, so it is
- 13:07Speaker 5: kind of an all encompassing little family there.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Sure, it keeps you busy.
- 13:12Speaker 4: It does.
- 13:15Speaker 3: So as far as events coming up, and you know,
- 13:19Speaker 3: is it something where a spectator and stuff can come
- 13:23Speaker 3: is that possible?
- 13:25Speaker 4: Not a whole lot.
- 13:26Speaker 5: In the brand of Summer, we do offer four big
- 13:29Speaker 5: events in the fall and the winter.
- 13:33Speaker 4: A little bit more information you want.
- 13:34Speaker 5: In the summer, the international competition is fifty meters, so
- 13:38Speaker 5: it's a much longer pool, typically outside like Sooner Pool.
- 13:42Speaker 5: The winter season, the collegiate season is short course yards,
- 13:45Speaker 5: which is what the P six six A Quartic Center is,
- 13:49Speaker 5: so we'll host some major events there. We host a
- 13:51Speaker 5: Big ten and Hunderd invite in October, West our Big
- 13:54Speaker 5: Stars of Winter meet in December, which usually brings about
- 13:56Speaker 5: nine hundred people to Borrowsville. We lost our big meet
- 14:01Speaker 5: champions MEETA Champions was seventy sixth or seventy fifth. MEETA
- 14:05Speaker 5: Champions was held this past January, which is an amazing
- 14:08Speaker 5: event long term, one of the longest running meets in
- 14:10Speaker 5: the entire United States. That usually brings in five or
- 14:14Speaker 5: six hundred people. And then we held the state championship
- 14:17Speaker 5: in March. So those three big events December, January, and
- 14:20Speaker 5: early March or when we usually have spectators come in
- 14:22Speaker 5: and they can see our light shows and big scoreboard
- 14:26Speaker 5: and everything like that.
- 14:26Speaker 4: It's a pretty amazing event.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And is there a season?
- 14:32Speaker 3: Obviously the high school has a schedule, but you guys
- 14:35Speaker 3: kind of go year round.
- 14:36Speaker 4: We do, well, we'll go year round.
- 14:39Speaker 5: We have what we call our short course season, which
- 14:41Speaker 5: is that collegiate season the school year largely, and then
- 14:45Speaker 5: we have the summer season, which would be the long
- 14:47Speaker 5: course season, which is the spring. We're starting that off
- 14:50Speaker 5: right now. So when we go to Edmund will summon
- 14:53Speaker 5: a fifty meter complex which is a little more than
- 14:55Speaker 5: twice the size of the Phillips Aquatic Center. Just a
- 14:59Speaker 5: little bit different, a different type of competition, but very similar.
- 15:03Speaker 4: I would I would say say, similar to indoor.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Soccer and outdoor soccer bull soccer, but there's a different
- 15:09Speaker 5: different Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's cool. Well, it's great to hear more about it.
- 15:15Speaker 3: You know, I think what you guys do is really
- 15:17Speaker 3: special for our community.
- 15:18Speaker 2: As you said, it's it really I think.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Impacts people as they go through their lives, and that's
- 15:24Speaker 3: it's really awesome. And a little bit of stuff going
- 15:28Speaker 3: on at the dealership. Take a moment just to talk
- 15:31Speaker 3: about that. We are at the end of the month,
- 15:33Speaker 3: trying to push through our goals for the rest of March,
- 15:37Speaker 3: and everybody's back from spring break and kind of got
- 15:41Speaker 3: their focus. Now we've continue We've had a great selection
- 15:46Speaker 3: recently of the tacomas, as we've been selling.
- 15:50Speaker 2: More and more of those over the last.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Recent months and and so selection is great.
- 15:55Speaker 2: You know.
- 15:55Speaker 3: On the toyota side, we still are don't have a
- 15:59Speaker 3: great huge inventory. Day supply nationwide on toyotas is between
- 16:05Speaker 3: fifteen and twenty days supply, so our lots across the
- 16:10Speaker 3: country are pretty scarce, but that just means that our
- 16:13Speaker 3: vehicles are popular and they can't build enough. They're selling
- 16:17Speaker 3: more toyotas than ever before around the world and in
- 16:20Speaker 3: the US, and so for us, it's about hitting our
- 16:24Speaker 3: goals every month and earning more and more inventory. We
- 16:27Speaker 3: seem to be able to sell just about everything we
- 16:30Speaker 3: can get. Many of our most popular models, like the
- 16:34Speaker 3: RAB four, which has gone through a brand a total redesign,
- 16:38Speaker 3: but those are selling before they hit We've had a
- 16:42Speaker 3: dozen or so since they started being released in the
- 16:47Speaker 3: middle of February that have come in and.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Each one is sold either before it came.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Or right there within a few hours of it hitting
- 16:54Speaker 3: the lot. So you really need to reach out to
- 16:58Speaker 3: us and give our great sales team an opportunity to
- 17:01Speaker 3: help you find that perfect vehicle for you. They'll take
- 17:04Speaker 3: the time to to help you understand what the choices
- 17:08Speaker 3: are and narrow that down. We can do dealer trades
- 17:11Speaker 3: and and help you get that a little bit quicker
- 17:14Speaker 3: if we know we have. If you give us a
- 17:17Speaker 3: little bit of dvance notice on what you're looking for,
- 17:21Speaker 3: our team is focused on helping you the we're noncommissioned
- 17:25Speaker 3: sales environment culture, both our sales teams and the sales
- 17:29Speaker 3: management or are you know, the not paid commissions. What
- 17:33Speaker 3: that means is they're there to help you. They really
- 17:35Speaker 3: aren't focused on maximizing the gross profit on any vehicle
- 17:39Speaker 3: they sell.
- 17:40Speaker 2: They're looking to sell.
- 17:42Speaker 3: In volume and and really I think that changes their mindset.
- 17:45Speaker 3: And we want to be there to help you buy
- 17:48Speaker 3: the car. And so we do our market based pricing,
- 17:51Speaker 3: a simple price approach where we we you know, it's
- 17:55Speaker 3: not true one price where we set it and it's stuck.
- 17:59Speaker 3: That's a great concept, but there's some flexibility, but we do.
- 18:03Speaker 3: We put them where they should sell, where it's a
- 18:06Speaker 3: fair price for everybody, and we try to keep things
- 18:09Speaker 3: moving that way, keep it simple, shorten the purchase process.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I love hearing from our customers these days that that
- 18:18Speaker 3: that's working, that it is faster than they expected and
- 18:21Speaker 3: more fun, more transparent. That's really important in today's for
- 18:26Speaker 3: today's customer. I think that's what people expect and deserve,
- 18:29Speaker 3: and we really try to deliver on that and not
- 18:32Speaker 3: make it difficult or be pushy in the sales process.
- 18:36Speaker 3: That's really important to us, and as we've been you know,
- 18:41Speaker 3: we've learned through the decades that's important to team with
- 18:45Speaker 3: our customers and align our needs with them. I mentioned
- 18:50Speaker 3: the sparks before that what the employees did was they
- 18:53Speaker 3: came up with the words that Sparks met, so they
- 18:57Speaker 3: kind of took the alliteration backwards. And as I called
- 19:01Speaker 3: it the Sparks picture because it had my grandfather in
- 19:04Speaker 3: the picture. But uh, they call it it's sincere partnerships, aligned, resilient, kaisen.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Makes us all superheroes.
- 19:13Speaker 3: So Sparks and you know, I think there are some
- 19:17Speaker 3: parallels and how the Splash Cup operates with that. I
- 19:20Speaker 3: mean sincerity and being a partner with people and aligned,
- 19:25Speaker 3: so we're working towards the same goal and resilient. We
- 19:28Speaker 3: mentioned a lot about overcoming obstacles, and kaizen is a
- 19:33Speaker 3: Japanese word which means continuous improvement and really having the
- 19:37Speaker 3: tools and information you need to do what needs to
- 19:40Speaker 3: be done right at the time you're doing it. And
- 19:43Speaker 3: then of course if all that linees up, it kind
- 19:45Speaker 3: of makes us all stronger as a group.
- 19:47Speaker 4: So yeah, it's not about that initial sale.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Yeah, it's about that feeling good about it for the
- 19:53Speaker 5: next five or six years.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Well, and in a long term approach.
- 19:56Speaker 3: You know, when you've been through all the changes we
- 19:58Speaker 3: have in the industry, you know, some of the values
- 20:01Speaker 3: stay the same. The product changes and the world changes
- 20:05Speaker 3: around us, but a lot of it is the same.
- 20:08Speaker 3: It comes back from those those lessons my grandfather learned
- 20:12Speaker 3: and the on that basketball team and through the other
- 20:15Speaker 3: things that he did. He was very motivated to help
- 20:19Speaker 3: people learn things, whether it was through sports teams or
- 20:23Speaker 3: the four H and F f A, the baseball team
- 20:27Speaker 3: we've sponsored for so long.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Is is it a good example of that?
- 20:32Speaker 4: And is not transactional?
- 20:34Speaker 3: No, it's not that it is committal and it is
- 20:37Speaker 3: it's about community and absolutely, and I love you know
- 20:41Speaker 3: that's this radio show has kind of become about those things.
- 20:44Speaker 3: And you know, I know I was looking at your
- 20:46Speaker 3: guys webshite the last couple of days as I was getting.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Ready to talk to you and you guys have you
- 20:51Speaker 2: know you talk about that.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Yeah, really in there about the leadership, the skills you're
- 20:56Speaker 3: trying to teach people. What your approach to competition is
- 20:59Speaker 3: that it's not just about being the first one to
- 21:02Speaker 3: the to the wall, which is important, of course, but
- 21:05Speaker 3: at the same time, in a race, and not everybody's
- 21:09Speaker 3: gonna win and so and everybody has to participate and
- 21:13Speaker 3: they each person kind of gets their own thing out
- 21:17Speaker 3: of there.
- 21:17Speaker 5: I agree undercent that we talk about the fact that
- 21:19Speaker 5: every race has one winner, but everybody in there can
- 21:22Speaker 5: be a champion. Everybody can can get the best out
- 21:25Speaker 5: of themselves. Everybody can can improve themselves. Everybody can support
- 21:28Speaker 5: each other. You race with each other against the clock,
- 21:31Speaker 5: and and how how how was your performance.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Against yourself in a way?
- 21:36Speaker 3: And it can because if you keep layer in that
- 21:39Speaker 3: work to get better, you're really accomplishing something absolutely, you know. So, Uh,
- 21:47Speaker 3: we've got just a few minutes left here today.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Uh, it's there.
- 21:51Speaker 3: And we mentioned the sponsorships once again. What's the website and.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Splash club all one word s p l A, s
- 21:59Speaker 5: h C, l U B than a dashokay dot com?
- 22:04Speaker 2: And is there does it? What does it cost to
- 22:07Speaker 2: participate in the club?
- 22:09Speaker 5: Our lessons are sixty four dollars for eight sessions. We
- 22:13Speaker 5: run those pretty much year round once they get to club.
- 22:16Speaker 5: At stages, we have seven different training groups. Each group
- 22:18Speaker 5: gets a little bit more committed and a little bit
- 22:20Speaker 5: more expensive, but they start out about forty dollars a
- 22:23Speaker 5: month forty to forty five dollars a month and grow
- 22:25Speaker 5: up from there.
- 22:27Speaker 4: We do have.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Scholarships available for those that need a little help, But
- 22:31Speaker 5: I think it's a wonderful opportunity to impact your child's life.
- 22:38Speaker 5: They talk about the USA Swimming puts out stats and
- 22:41Speaker 5: a child is eighty five percent less likely to drown
- 22:45Speaker 5: if they've had formal lessons. And I don't know that
- 22:48Speaker 5: there's a whole lot of things in life that make
- 22:50Speaker 5: that kind of difference in your child's potential health. And
- 22:54Speaker 5: you hear these horror stories of families on family unions
- 22:57Speaker 5: where a child starts a drown and the pair jump
- 23:00Speaker 5: in and they can't some either, and the whole family drowns,
- 23:03Speaker 5: and it's just so sad. This This is a sport
- 23:05Speaker 5: that not only can save your life, but allow you
- 23:09Speaker 5: to save someone else's life. And it really can make
- 23:11Speaker 5: an impact in your world and those around you. There's
- 23:15Speaker 5: just so much water, all your new retention ponds and everything.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Being able to do additions and.
- 23:20Speaker 5: There's water everywhere, and being able to be safe and
- 23:25Speaker 5: confident in that arena is extremely important. So we we
- 23:29Speaker 5: we encourage everyone to get involved and just see what
- 23:34Speaker 5: it's about.
- 23:35Speaker 3: And at age three and up, and does do you
- 23:37Speaker 3: have adult programs at all?
- 23:39Speaker 4: We don't have the ability to offer to adults.
- 23:42Speaker 5: So once they're out of college and the kind of
- 23:43Speaker 5: out of the competitive arena, they move on. I know
- 23:46Speaker 5: we've got several of our parents some with the y
- 23:48Speaker 5: every day and and do some wonderful things there, and
- 23:51Speaker 5: we definitely support that. We just we have limited spaces
- 23:55Speaker 5: on our our site, so we're trying to work with
- 23:57Speaker 5: the youth. But yeah, say hit six, then we usually
- 24:01Speaker 5: allow them onto the competitive team. I mentioned Arison earlier,
- 24:04Speaker 5: she got in a little early as a young sibling.
- 24:07Speaker 4: But we we pull.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Them along and give them measured and appropriate challenges as
- 24:14Speaker 5: we go through that that challenging tomorrow's leaders is a
- 24:17Speaker 5: real key to what.
- 24:18Speaker 4: We try and do.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Letting them know that life doesn't end when someone says no,
- 24:24Speaker 5: or life doesn't end when you fall down.
- 24:26Speaker 4: That's what it begins.
- 24:27Speaker 5: That's when you get back up and you you kind
- 24:29Speaker 5: of brush yourself off and you figure.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Out where did I go wrong or what can I
- 24:33Speaker 4: do better?
- 24:33Speaker 5: And you learn from those things that that that old
- 24:36Speaker 5: school grit that we really want out of them, and
- 24:40Speaker 5: that I think that's that's something that we take a
- 24:43Speaker 5: lot of pride in and that we're not We're not
- 24:47Speaker 5: a flash in the pan social media type that after
- 24:51Speaker 5: seventy five years, we try and be a foundational part
- 24:55Speaker 5: of the Barlsville community and and really give kids something
- 24:59Speaker 5: that that they can lean on in those times of
- 25:02Speaker 5: challenges in their lives.
- 25:04Speaker 2: That's great, Chad. It's great to have you on the show.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Thanks you for coming.
- 25:08Speaker 3: And hopefully people will reach out if they're interested in
- 25:11Speaker 3: learning more about it, go to the website or give
- 25:14Speaker 3: Chat a call. You know, I think it is something
- 25:17Speaker 3: one of those things that's very great for our community
- 25:20Speaker 3: and I appreciate what you guys do.
- 25:22Speaker 4: I love it.
- 25:23Speaker 5: Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy talking about it.
- 25:26Speaker 3: It's obvious you're passionate about it, and to encourage everybody
- 25:30Speaker 3: to find out more and support the splash cover as
- 25:33Speaker 3: they go forward. And we've got another beautiful day in Borrowsville,
- 25:38Speaker 3: a little bit warmer than maybe it should be this
- 25:40Speaker 3: time of year, but hopefully we'll get some rain here soon.
- 25:43Speaker 3: If we can help you with anything out of the dealership,
- 25:47Speaker 3: give us a shout or come on by. You can
- 25:49Speaker 3: schedule your service appointments online on the website. There's a
- 25:52Speaker 3: great service scheduling tool and or if you have like
- 25:57Speaker 3: I said, if you need a new car, use car,
- 26:00Speaker 3: or if you're looking to sell a vehicle, that's another opportunity.
- 26:03Speaker 3: We've got purchase vehicles. We've got a great we're an
- 26:07Speaker 3: instant cash offer Kelly Bluebook Buying Center. We can go
- 26:11Speaker 3: on the website inter just a few things. It'll give
- 26:14Speaker 3: you an initial idea of what your vehicle's worth. Usually
- 26:17Speaker 3: if you bring it in we can give you more
- 26:19Speaker 3: than that. Just don't need to confirm a few things
- 26:23Speaker 3: and get some information. But it only takes a few minutes.
- 26:26Speaker 3: And always looking to buy nice vehicles or really any vehicle,
- 26:31Speaker 3: and we can get them back on the road quick
- 26:34Speaker 3: and I always find a market for them. And so
- 26:38Speaker 3: look forward to helping you out in the community as
- 26:41Speaker 3: we get it here into the summer.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Where can we find you, Bratt, We're out.
- 26:45Speaker 3: In Washington Boulevard at nineteen eleven Southeast Washington Boulevard or
- 26:49Speaker 3: at Dungeustoyota dot com.
- 26:51Speaker 1: All right, folks, you've been watching it and listening to
- 26:53Speaker 1: our car talk program right here on Gay one, the.
- 26:56Speaker 2: One you trust. Stay tuned.
- 26:59Speaker 1: We've got news weather coming up plus Brian killed Me Show.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Do you want to let everybody know that we have
- 27:04Speaker 1: had an accident at Frank Phillips down to one lane
- 27:08Speaker 1: just past the paths to Independent and that is due
- 27:11Speaker 1: to a car accident car versus light bulb, so we've
- 27:15Speaker 1: got electrical crews out there. Avoid the area until they
- 27:17Speaker 1: get that clean.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Thanks for listening to one on one with a professional,
- 27:23Speaker 4: A paid presentation at fourteen hundred K one
