In this continuation of last week's exposition of 1 John 4:1-6, we are, once again, confronted with one of the most critical challenges facing believers today: the danger of deception through false teaching. This passage reveals four mathematical markers that help us identify counterfeit Christianity—subtract, multiply, divide, and add. False teachers subtract from who Jesus truly is, denying His full deity, humanity, or messianic identity.
