- 0:04Speaker 1: Am I looking at you? Yeah. Talking straight into camera.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Good to Know Sacramento Edition podcast.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You can even introduce yourself. Let's just talk like this. Hey,
- 0:21Speaker 1: what's up, dude? Good to be here. All right. What's up, dude?
- 0:23Speaker 2: No, just chilling, man. We were just talking around because
- 0:26Speaker 2: we were talking about Marcus was here and he was
- 0:28Speaker 2: talking about his first concert. We didn't get to the
- 0:29Speaker 2: question with him, but You said yours was, what was yours?
- 0:33Speaker 3: All right, so I'm not even like a religious person.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I wasn't raised religious, but I had friends that grew
- 0:37Speaker 3: up in the church. My first concert, I don't know
- 0:39Speaker 3: if you remember, there was a Christian boy band called
- 0:42Speaker 3: Plus One. I don't know if anybody remembers Plus One,
- 0:45Speaker 3: Come On, Dog, Bangers. It was in the era of
- 0:49Speaker 3: NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, okay? So they came out with
- 0:52Speaker 3: a Christian band. This is exactly who South Park was
- 0:55Speaker 3: making fun of in that Christian band episode, where it
- 0:57Speaker 3: was like you take a normal song and you replace
- 1:00Speaker 3: words like baby and sweetheart with Jesus.
- 1:03Speaker 1: That's what it was, bro. It was that, okay?
- 1:05Speaker 3: So it was back when the Sunrise Mall was a thing,
- 1:07Speaker 3: and it was in the parking lot of the Sunrise Mall,
- 1:09Speaker 3: and I saw Plus One, dude.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And I got the CD. I got it signed. And honestly, bangers, bro.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Honestly, man, they had some fire songs that still to
- 1:21Speaker 3: this day, if you listened to, you wouldn't know they
- 1:23Speaker 3: were about God and Jesus. It just sounds like any
- 1:25Speaker 3: other boy band at the time.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You know what's funny that you mentioned that? There's Flyleaf.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I don't know if you ever heard of that rock band.
- 1:33Speaker 2: They're fucking dope. And then all of a sudden, someone
- 1:35Speaker 2: told me, they go, you know they're a Christian rock band.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I go, shut the fuck up. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 2: They go listen to the words. And all of a sudden,
- 1:40Speaker 2: it's like, I can't.
- 1:40Speaker 3: There's another one like that that's low-key Christian. Obviously, Switchfoot.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I don't know if you remember Switchfoot from.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Back in the day. They were a Christian rock band.
- 1:48Speaker 2: What was their song?
- 1:51Speaker 1: But didn't somebody say the band that does the one
- 1:56Speaker 1: from Vegas? Killers. The Killers. Yeah. They're a Christian rock band,
- 1:59Speaker 1: are they not?
- 1:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:59Speaker 2: They're like, listen to that over again. They can check
- 2:01Speaker 2: it out.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And I was like, damn.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's crazy, too, because it's like.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So Mr. Brightside is Jesus. Is that who Mr.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Brightside is? That's so funny, though, man. Now that you
- 2:13Speaker 2: remind me of Switchfoot, I totally remember them now, because
- 2:16Speaker 2: they had a banger, too. It came out of nowhere.
- 2:19Speaker 2: We were meant for so much more. That's what it
- 2:22Speaker 2: was called.
- 2:22Speaker 1: That's what it is, yeah. Yeah, you know what? I believe...
- 2:28Speaker 1: You know what?
- 2:28Speaker 3: You've convinced me. You know what? After 34 years, I
- 2:31Speaker 3: was meant for so much more. I should invest in that.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Speaking of music and shit like that, you dropped a banger.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I finally cracked the code on weaving my comedy into
- 2:43Speaker 3: my music, and.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I'm going to do more. It's a lot of fun.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I've been doing that since high school, bro.
- 2:50Speaker 3: I have videos of me doing comedic rap songs all
- 2:52Speaker 3: the way back my junior, senior year of high school.
- 2:55Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm taking advantage of the fact that me
- 2:58Speaker 3: and Zoran Mamdani are twins. And I made a Zoran
- 3:01Speaker 3: Mamdani parody song and it took off. And shout out
- 3:05Speaker 3: to all the local comics because everybody reposted it and
- 3:08Speaker 3: that helped it get out of my ecosystem, my bubble.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And yeah, people think I'm that dude.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Because I reposted it too because I watched it and
- 3:16Speaker 2: then I was like– I.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Appreciate you, bro. Thank you.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Because I know that you have to– not only for engagement,
- 3:21Speaker 2: but they also see how much time you spend on it.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So I was like, we have to watch the whole clip.
- 3:26Speaker 2: And then I reposted it. And I was like, okay.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I was like a slow slapper.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I wanted to mix in the stuff that's like
- 3:34Speaker 3: inherently me. I wanted to make it kind of Bay Area. Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And I wanted to like mix the West Coast and
- 3:39Speaker 1: the East Coast.
- 3:40Speaker 3: And I'm a big Mac Dre fan from my childhood.
- 3:44Speaker 3: So it was just a weird mix. I wrote that
- 3:47Speaker 3: in the Uber on the way to the airport. My
- 3:49Speaker 3: buddy called me and he's like, bro, you need to
- 3:51Speaker 3: do a Zoran thing. Because I posted a pic of
- 3:53Speaker 3: me next to him, how much we look alike. And
- 3:56Speaker 3: he's like, bro, you need to do a song. I
- 3:57Speaker 3: wrote it in the Uber on the way to the airport.
- 4:00Speaker 3: And then filmed it when I got– or recorded it
- 4:02Speaker 3: when I got back. And then my buddy filmed it
- 4:04Speaker 3: for me. And I had it in the bank so
- 4:06Speaker 3: that I could drop it on his inauguration day. And
- 4:07Speaker 3: I dropped it on January 1st. So it just worked out, man. And, like,
- 4:11Speaker 3: he was already– like, his name was in the zeitgeist
- 4:13Speaker 3: of just internet.
- 4:14Speaker 1: And so it was just kind of like the perfect storm.
- 4:17Speaker 2: It's so funny, too, because, like, as I'm watching it,
- 4:19Speaker 2: you know, because I'm paying attention to what you're doing
- 4:21Speaker 2: and your cutting and your wear and stuff like that.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And then it dawned on me. I was like, is
- 4:24Speaker 2: this back draped?
- 4:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you were locked in, bro. You didn't even realize. Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I was like, okay.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I was like, right on. That's so silly, though. It's
- 4:32Speaker 1: so fun.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's actually fun because you can just fuck around and
- 4:36Speaker 2: you can draw more concepts, more.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Ideas and parodies. It's so cool. I got another one
- 4:40Speaker 1: cooking right now. Really? Yeah, I got another one. Exclusive.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I'm going to do a parody of the song. So
- 4:48Speaker 3: you know how Donald Trump is kind of weirdly obsessed
- 4:51Speaker 3: with Zoran Mamdani? I don't know if you've seen their interactions,
- 4:54Speaker 3: but it's a guy who he should have no love for,
- 4:57Speaker 3: I mean, he, he hates billionaires.
- 4:58Speaker 1: He wants to tax them.
- 4:59Speaker 3: He's an Arab dude from New York in his like
- 5:02Speaker 3: home state who wants to tax people like him. He's
- 5:05Speaker 3: a democratic socialist. There's no reason for, but he's like
- 5:08Speaker 3: oddly enamored with this guy. Like if you see them
- 5:10Speaker 3: in interviews.
- 5:11Speaker 1: He's like, I, he's like, I like this guy. We shouldn't,
- 5:15Speaker 1: but I like him, you know?
- 5:16Speaker 3: And he's like, and he's like, there was that interview
- 5:18Speaker 3: where he was like, uh, someone was like, so Zoran,
- 5:20Speaker 3: you know, you, You you've called Donald Trump a fascist before. Like,
- 5:24Speaker 3: do you still agree with that? And Zoran kind of hesitated.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Trump was like, it's OK. You can call me a fascist.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I don't care. Go ahead.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I kind of like it. And so he's weirdly. So
- 5:35Speaker 3: I'm doing a parody of the song Stan, which is
- 5:37Speaker 3: like the one where he's like writing.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And he's like, oh, it's like a love letter. So
- 5:41Speaker 3: Trump is going to be writing like a weird love letter.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So I got to find if anybody out there does
- 5:45Speaker 3: a good Trump impression that can do it and wrap it.
- 5:50Speaker 2: We're looking for you.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'm looking for you. We're looking for you.
- 5:52Speaker 3: By the time this comes out, I might already have it.
- 5:54Speaker 3: You missed your shot. But that's what I need. So
- 5:57Speaker 3: that's what I'm working on right now.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That's funny. Well, that's dope. And so you're doing well
- 6:02Speaker 2: on the socials right now.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I don't know what's well. I don't
- 6:06Speaker 1: even know either. Yeah, I don't know, man. It's such
- 6:07Speaker 1: a fickle thing.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Like I'm trying not to get, like I'm not somebody
- 6:10Speaker 3: that's like trying to, ride the wave too much.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm just like, you know what, man?
- 6:14Speaker 3: Even that, I put that song out and I didn't
- 6:16Speaker 3: drop a single thing for another two months because I
- 6:19Speaker 3: just didn't want to feel like I needed to ride
- 6:21Speaker 3: the wave or I needed to put things out just
- 6:23Speaker 3: to put things out. It was like when something else
- 6:25Speaker 3: comes along that I'm creatively excited about, I'll post it.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Are we the same? Exactly. We are.
- 6:32Speaker 3: So anyway, that's my thing is quality over quantity. I'm
- 6:36Speaker 3: not somebody that's just constantly trying to just put things
- 6:39Speaker 3: out for the sake of it.
- 6:40Speaker 1: If it posts in and it does well, awesome.
- 6:42Speaker 3: But it's such a weird– the algorithm is something I
- 6:45Speaker 3: try not to get too caught up in because.
- 6:47Speaker 2: It doesn't– You can definitely get addicted to a like.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Addicted to like, yo, I need to post something. I
- 6:53Speaker 2: need to see what they're saying. I need to constantly
- 6:54Speaker 2: check my phone. I can't– I can't function with real
- 6:58Speaker 2: life right now because I have to make sure. It's
- 7:00Speaker 2: a separate world. I don't want to get sucked into
- 7:02Speaker 2: too much. Dude, I'm watching kids get into that to
- 7:05Speaker 2: the point where it's like, to us, it's kind of abnormal.
- 7:10Speaker 2: But to the younger generation, it's like, no, it's completely
- 7:12Speaker 2: normal to not do anything and watch other people do things.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, bro. The streamer. Watching somebody else play video games?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Play video games. Watching somebody else open Pokemon cards? Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 1: or live life. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:24Speaker 2: The streamer shit is blowing my brain because it's just like,
- 7:27Speaker 2: so I watched Neon go to Max Crosby's house. And
- 7:33Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this is cool because this was
- 7:36Speaker 2: a concept that's already been out for years.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Who's Max Crosby?
- 7:38Speaker 2: Max Crosby. Oh, how dare you? I can't believe it.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Is he a fighter? Is he a UFC fighter?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Who's Mondami? I don't fucking know.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Who is he? What world is he in? I didn't
- 7:46Speaker 1: even roll it with it. I don't know who the
- 7:47Speaker 1: fuck you were talking about.
- 7:47Speaker 2: He's not a rapper or a comedian. I don't know him. No,
- 7:51Speaker 2: he's a Raider linebacker.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But he went to his house.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Football is not.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't got time. I got time for one
- 7:58Speaker 3: really crappy team, and that's the Sacramento Kings. Oh, we
- 8:00Speaker 3: were just talking about that. That's all I know about, man.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That's all I know about.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Heartbreak, man.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I was just talking about the heartbreak of 2002, the
- 8:07Speaker 2: Western Conference Finals. But you weren't that. You were probably
- 8:09Speaker 2: too young to watch that.
- 8:10Speaker 1: No, I was there for that.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Oh, yeah?
- 8:11Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, I was there for that. I was 11
- 8:13Speaker 1: at that time, so I was in it.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I was in karate at the time, and I remember
- 8:17Speaker 3: very hardcore martial arts.
- 8:20Speaker 1: It was my whole life for 15 years of my life.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And we were, we were training.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You go kick ass.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, bro.
- 8:26Speaker 3: This is, this isn't Will Smith. You run up on stage,
- 8:28Speaker 3: you're getting roundhouse cake. I'll unleash 20 years of experience
- 8:32Speaker 3: on your face.
- 8:32Speaker 2: You know, what's so funny is that like, cause like
- 8:34Speaker 2: I'm so used to being like, well with my friends,
- 8:36Speaker 2: who's all pieces of shit.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:38Speaker 2: So it's like, everyone's good. You know, handle themselves.
- 8:40Speaker 1: All your friends are like, what? Like, bro, can you not?
- 8:44Speaker 1: So I thought I was cool.
- 8:45Speaker 2: It was like, yo man, I'm like, I'm out here
- 8:47Speaker 2: with my friends. We're like five deep. It was like,
- 8:48Speaker 2: what's happening? But then like, And then I got into comedy,
- 8:51Speaker 2: and then comics started becoming my friends. And I still
- 8:53Speaker 2: had that mentality of, like, what's happening? Like, yo, we're
- 8:55Speaker 2: five deep.
- 8:55Speaker 4: No, no.
- 8:56Speaker 1: No, man. No one's backing you up, bro. No one's
- 8:57Speaker 1: backing you up. Everyone's like, he's on his own. Chaz
- 8:59Speaker 1: Hawkins only weighed, like, a buck-oh-five. And I'm like, you're
- 9:03Speaker 1: not going to.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Help me out.
- 9:04Speaker 1: No, dude.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And then also, but the other cat, though, that I
- 9:07Speaker 2: did know that could handle himself was Michael Calvin.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Yeah, I know Michael Calvin. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So just real quick, just a real quick story.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Me and Michael Calvin were on a show one time,
- 9:16Speaker 2: and I was talking to my cousin, and we're talking about,
- 9:18Speaker 2: I was talking about Harm Johnson. And he was like,
- 9:19Speaker 2: you went to Johnson?
- 9:20Speaker 1: I go, yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 3: You went to Hiram Johnson? Yeah, I went to Hiram Johnson. Wait,
- 9:24Speaker 3: I lived in that neighborhood.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah, for years. We just moved, but I was right
- 9:28Speaker 1: by Hiram Johnson.
- 9:28Speaker 2: That's a stomping ground right there.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 2: That's off 65th?
- 9:32Speaker 1: 65th, yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 2: 65th and 14th Ave.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Have you been to Taco 65? The taco spot right
- 9:37Speaker 3: across the street from Hiram Johnson?
- 9:38Speaker 2: There's one.
- 9:40Speaker 3: It's an Asian-owned taco spot right next to Hiram Johnson.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Check them out. It must have not been there when
- 9:45Speaker 2: I went.
- 9:45Speaker 1: No, no, no, it's new.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Okay, it's new. Yeah, yeah, I haven't been there.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:48Speaker 2: But I was like, I went to the town of
- 9:51Speaker 2: the village that's down over there where Marlano's Pizza's at
- 9:53Speaker 2: and shit like that. That was fire. But what happened was,
- 9:57Speaker 2: I went to Johnson and he was like, oh, that's crazy.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I mean, he goes, what year? And I told him
- 10:01Speaker 2: my years. And he was like, I was there. And
- 10:02Speaker 2: I go, yeah. I go, I got expelled, though. And
- 10:05Speaker 2: he was like, I got expelled, too. And I was like,
- 10:06Speaker 2: what'd you get expelled for? He goes, there was these
- 10:09Speaker 2: two twins that I fought. And I go... I was
- 10:11Speaker 2: there at that fight. Oh, no way.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I saw him fight. You guys went, you guys were
- 10:14Speaker 1: in the same, same year.
- 10:15Speaker 2: And I, we didn't realize it until we made the connection.
- 10:17Speaker 2: And I'll tell you this right now.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Did he fight both twins?
- 10:19Speaker 2: Michael Calvin beat the shit out of one kid down
- 10:22Speaker 2: the stairs and beat the other twins ass up the stairs.
- 10:25Speaker 1: He, that's a bad man. I seen that kid fight.
- 10:29Speaker 1: That's like, that's like double dragon shit, bro. Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Michael Calvin, he knows martial arts. That's a beat him
- 10:35Speaker 3: up action video game. 16 bit from the early 90s.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Michael Calvin's dad is a martial artist.
- 10:38Speaker 2: He kicks ass.
- 10:39Speaker 1: So he's like, so he, He's into that, too.
- 10:41Speaker 2: But, yeah, I'm sorry. I digress. But you were saying
- 10:43Speaker 2: that you were in martial arts and then this is
- 10:45Speaker 2: the Kings.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 3: So we were in nationals training and it was like
- 10:48Speaker 3: there was this Chinese restaurant. I went to Karate in
- 10:50Speaker 3: Vintage Park and there was this Chinese restaurant next door.
- 10:53Speaker 3: And the Kings were that was, you know, when the
- 10:54Speaker 3: Kings were good. We're talking about like the glory days.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Mike Bibby, C-Web.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I know.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I know.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 11:00Speaker 3: But we took a break from training and this was
- 11:03Speaker 3: like five hour days, bro. Like we were in that
- 11:05Speaker 3: dojo all day. And I remember being in there, and
- 11:08Speaker 3: our sensei was like, you know, if the Kings win,
- 11:11Speaker 3: we're done.
- 11:11Speaker 1: We can pack it up.
- 11:12Speaker 3: But if they lose, we're staying for another hour and
- 11:14Speaker 3: a half. So now we're even more invested, right? Like,
- 11:17Speaker 3: we care about the Kings, but also, like, we're trying
- 11:18Speaker 3: to go home. And that was the game that they
- 11:21Speaker 3: robbed us. That was game.
- 11:22Speaker 1: What was that?
- 11:22Speaker 2: Six or seven?
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Six was a big robbery. Yeah, bro.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I mean, it's still held as the worst, most clear, like,
- 11:29Speaker 3: worst officiated game, most clear instance of, Of side betting.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Even like Ross Perot wrote a thing like, this is
- 11:36Speaker 2: a bad product if you guys are going to be
- 11:38Speaker 2: putting this out from now on.
- 11:39Speaker 3: It's just a testament to them figuring out which cities
- 11:43Speaker 3: will be more profitable to go to championships.
- 11:46Speaker 1: We're not that city, unfortunately.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Ori was game five, right? Was Ori's shot five or
- 11:53Speaker 2: was that six?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Ori was the dagger in game five.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Okay, it was game five. Because we just needed one more.
- 12:03Speaker 2: We needed one more and we couldn't.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 3: What sucks now is there's not even bad officiating to blame.
- 12:09Speaker 3: It's just bad management and bad ownership and bad decisions
- 12:12Speaker 3: behind the scenes. Like, that's the thing, bro. You look
- 12:14Speaker 3: at the championships this year. You had a previous Kings
- 12:17Speaker 3: coach in the finals and previous Kings players on the
- 12:19Speaker 3: other side. It's like clearly they were not the problem.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what I mean?
- 12:23Speaker 3: It's something else. It's the same thing that passed on
- 12:25Speaker 3: Luka Doncic. It's the same thing that passed on, you
- 12:29Speaker 3: know what I mean? Like, all of these big players.
- 12:31Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I got it. You know
- 12:33Speaker 2: what I mean, bro. Yeah, no, it sucks, man. It's
- 12:36Speaker 2: sad to see, like, a lot of our star players
- 12:37Speaker 2: that we did pick and then go somewhere. Like, that
- 12:40Speaker 2: was another thing, too. Like, Halliburton.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, dog.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I know, man.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Finally, we picked correctly, and you guys give it away.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Big choices, bro.
- 12:48Speaker 2: And we just shit the bed.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I know. I know.
- 12:51Speaker 2: It's hard.
- 12:52Speaker 1: It is. It's hard.
- 12:53Speaker 2: And not only that, it's hard.
- 12:54Speaker 1: We should all hold hands and just get a good
- 12:57Speaker 1: cry in.
- 12:57Speaker 2: And it sucks for me, too, because, like, I'm also
- 12:59Speaker 2: an A's fan. And so that is another organization over there.
- 13:02Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 13:03Speaker 2: And then I'm a Raider fan, and they're finally getting
- 13:05Speaker 2: it together. So it's been a long, it's been a hard.
- 13:08Speaker 1: You're costing yourself too much, man.
- 13:09Speaker 2: And you only got one. You only got room for one.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and I don't even have cable, bro. So, like,
- 13:13Speaker 3: even the Kings, like, I'll watch when I'm at our
- 13:14Speaker 3: bar or whatever. But, like, I'm not paying. I stopped paying.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm not paying to watch a team that
- 13:20Speaker 3: doesn't give a shit. hurt my feelings. You know what
- 13:23Speaker 3: I mean? Like, I'm not into abusive relationships. It's like, no,
- 13:27Speaker 3: but you don't know them.
- 13:29Speaker 1: You don't know them like that. They're doing a lot better.
- 13:31Speaker 1: And it's like, nah, man, they're an.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Abusive spouse who is taking advantage of a really good.
- 13:37Speaker 1: They have the best fan base, and they just keep
- 13:40Speaker 1: disappointing us. So, anyway. I know, no.
- 13:43Speaker 3: You should save this conversation for Drew Absher. I mean,
- 13:45Speaker 3: it'll be the whole, have you interviewed Drew Absher yet?
- 13:48Speaker 2: No, no.
- 13:48Speaker 1: He'll talk about this for an hour and a half. Really?
- 13:50Speaker 3: Yeah, we did a segment at Fox 40, and it
- 13:54Speaker 3: just became a conversation about the Kigs, because my dude
- 13:56Speaker 3: is autistic about basketball.
- 14:00Speaker 1: He said, that and paperclips. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you
- 14:03Speaker 1: throw them on the ground, they'll just start coming. Like
- 14:05Speaker 1: the way I am about video games, you know what
- 14:06Speaker 1: I mean? Like that's him about sports.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Oh, you're a big video game guy.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Have you ever seen my game room?
- 14:11Speaker 2: No.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Game Room's crazy. I've been collecting for the last couple years.
- 14:14Speaker 3: So you have like shelves of games?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And systems?
- 14:17Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 2: So what's your favorite though? What is your go-to?
- 14:23Speaker 3: So I grew up on– our first system was the NES.
- 14:27Speaker 3: So I didn't have like the Intellivision or the– what
- 14:31Speaker 3: was the one with Pong?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Atari. Atari. I didn't have Atari. So we had NES,
- 14:36Speaker 1: but we were poor, right?
- 14:37Speaker 3: So we would get systems five, six years into their
- 14:41Speaker 3: life cycle. So by the time we would get a system,
- 14:43Speaker 3: it would be on discount at Costco, and we would
- 14:45Speaker 3: get the NES, and then I went to the Super Nintendo,
- 14:48Speaker 3: and then I went to the PlayStation. And then for
- 14:50Speaker 3: some reason, Microsoft's marketing must have been on point because
- 14:53Speaker 3: I skipped PS2 and went to Xbox. And then Xbox 360,
- 14:56Speaker 3: and then I went back to PlayStation, PS3, PS4, PS5.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 15:00Speaker 1: But I grew up on, I mean, Super Nintendo to
- 15:02Speaker 1: me is the pinnacle of it all, bro. Is your.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's my jam. So Mega Man, you know, all
- 15:09Speaker 3: the Donkey Kongs.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, when Super Mario World came out, it was like
- 15:12Speaker 2: so bright. And you're like, this is, okay, this is awesome.
- 15:15Speaker 1: It's incredible, bro.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah, man, we were super lucky. We had really sick.
- 15:19Speaker 3: tech and you know you had four or five games
- 15:21Speaker 3: that you just played the shit out of all you
- 15:23Speaker 3: know what i mean like you just loved what you
- 15:24Speaker 3: had and we didn't have a lot we just made
- 15:26Speaker 3: the best.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Of it you know that launch of of super nintendo
- 15:29Speaker 2: was was amazing because it got you all hyped up
- 15:31Speaker 2: and then you get the super mario world and then
- 15:33Speaker 2: it's like star fox and then it was like oh
- 15:36Speaker 2: yeah yeah super scope six and it was like i
- 15:39Speaker 2: had to get this like.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Bazooka super yeah and um do you still game I
- 15:42Speaker 1: do still game.
- 15:43Speaker 2: My wife, her mom is a big gamer. That's how
- 15:45Speaker 2: we got together.
- 15:46Speaker 1: What are you guys on?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Are you guys PC or PlayStation 5?
- 15:49Speaker 1: Oh, you're PS5. Okay, nice. We were trying.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I was going to go to PC, but then she
- 15:54Speaker 2: was like, you better not go to PC.
- 15:55Speaker 1: That's weak, bro.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yeah, because we were playing Call of Duty, and I
- 15:58Speaker 2: was like, babe, they're fucking us up, man. And then
- 16:00Speaker 2: she was like, I don't care. But then we found
- 16:01Speaker 2: there's a Switch that you could take off... where PC
- 16:04Speaker 2: players can't play with you.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Is it because they're nice with the mouse? Is it
- 16:09Speaker 3: more like... Is it easier to play Call of Duty
- 16:11Speaker 3: on a computer than it is on a console?
- 16:14Speaker 2: I would say not only with the mouse, but it
- 16:15Speaker 2: was also with the refresh and the transfer stuff.
- 16:20Speaker 1: So it's like... Their rates are higher? Yeah. Oh, okay.
- 16:23Speaker 2: So I'm coming around the corner, and they're already seeing
- 16:26Speaker 2: me before I get to see them because their rates
- 16:27Speaker 2: refresh faster.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like the dudes that used to look at
- 16:30Speaker 3: the top screen when you're playing them in 007. You
- 16:32Speaker 3: know what I mean? You're like, hey, can you stop looking, bro?
- 16:34Speaker 3: You're lightweight cheating. That's what PC gamers are doing right now, bro.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Yeah, so I didn't get one, but I was thinking
- 16:40Speaker 2: about building one. I was like, I'll build one. She
- 16:41Speaker 2: was like, no, you can't do that. But yeah, we play.
- 16:45Speaker 1: She.
- 16:46Speaker 2: She got me to play, because I didn't play for
- 16:48Speaker 2: a while. I did a lot of cocaine, so I
- 16:49Speaker 2: was like.
- 16:52Speaker 1: So I was occupied. Yeah, well, because I used to
- 16:54Speaker 1: like to do cocaine and play games all the time.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I would just be all coked out and playing Call
- 16:59Speaker 2: of Duty and adventure games. And then so when I
- 17:02Speaker 2: got sober, I was like, You know, I can't do that.
- 17:05Speaker 2: When I would see the sunrise, like, not... Like, oh, God.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I couldn't see the sunrise for the longest time.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Bro, I did that without cocaine. What's my excuse? I
- 17:13Speaker 1: would play till the sun would come up completely sober.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's like... But no, I still play.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I do.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Um, I'm, I'm on PS5 and, uh, I play a lot.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Like I've been playing of Ark Raiders, even though it's still,
- 17:26Speaker 2: it's falling off and, but I still like it.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:29Speaker 2: And then, um, what are you playing right now?
- 17:30Speaker 3: I'm not a big multiplayer guy, so I like single
- 17:32Speaker 3: player games. So I'm playing the new 007 first light game.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I wanted to start that.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It's tight. It's tight. It's cool. Cool. Like a fighting system.
- 17:40Speaker 1: That's different.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Um, and then I play, you know, like the, all
- 17:46Speaker 3: those single, all those, all those fantastic, I mean, we just,
- 17:48Speaker 3: we're spoiled with single player fun story driven games like
- 17:51Speaker 3: the God of War games and the, the, the Horizon
- 17:54Speaker 3: Zero Dawn and, and, All of that stuff, man. And
- 17:57Speaker 3: I recently got a full driving setup with, like, a
- 17:59Speaker 3: stick shift and a clutch. And I'm playing, like, Gran
- 18:01Speaker 3: Turismo in my house, bro. And, like, that's a blast.
- 18:05Speaker 3: That steering wheel has, like, forced feedback. So it's, like, yanking. It's, like,
- 18:08Speaker 3: when you take a turn, it's, like, pushing back on you.
- 18:10Speaker 3: So it's just, like, crazy realism now that we would
- 18:13Speaker 3: have just, you know, been freaking out.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Killed for as a kid. Yeah, exactly. But that's the
- 18:15Speaker 1: thing is as a kid it felt like that. You
- 18:17Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like, those graphics on N64... you know,
- 18:23Speaker 1: in GoldenEye, we thought it was legit.
- 18:25Speaker 3: It was like a dude's, like, smushed face all flat,
- 18:27Speaker 3: and we're like, this is, it looks real, dude.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah, like the movie, dude. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah. It
- 18:33Speaker 1: felt like VR, you know?
- 18:35Speaker 2: I love GoldenEye. It was funny, because I don't even
- 18:38Speaker 2: like it, because they came out with, like, a better
- 18:43Speaker 2: version of GoldenEye, and I was like, I don't like it.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I want to go back to Super Nintendo, and I
- 18:46Speaker 2: don't know why it just had that good feel to it.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 2: But I played Indiana Jones.
- 18:51Speaker 1: That was fun. Oh, The Great Circle? Yeah. Oh, that's fantastic.
- 18:54Speaker 1: That's a really good game. Yeah, I played that. I
- 18:56Speaker 1: played the shit out of that. What's the.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yote uh oh ghost of yote ghost of yote and
- 19:03Speaker 2: the one before that yeah it's so much fun so
- 19:06Speaker 2: good so the ghost of yote the the woman that
- 19:09Speaker 2: plays that character commented on a video i did recently
- 19:12Speaker 2: and i like dm'd her and i was like yo
- 19:14Speaker 2: dude i was like this is so tight i was
- 19:16Speaker 2: like she was like because she's like an improv person
- 19:18Speaker 2: so she was geeking out on comedy okay but i'm
- 19:20Speaker 2: like a video game nerd who geeks out so i
- 19:21Speaker 2: was like i was like hey i know you're like
- 19:23Speaker 2: stoked on this but like just so you know like
- 19:25Speaker 2: The ghost of Yotei just DM'd me like, I'm fucking.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Hyped right now. It's going both ways right now. It's
- 19:28Speaker 1: going both ways, yeah. And she's like, oh, my God,
- 19:30Speaker 1: you're so funny. I was like, you're hella tight. Yeah.
- 19:32Speaker 1: So that was a cool experience.
- 19:34Speaker 2: I replayed The Last of Us 1 and 2.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Those are amazing. There was something else, too, that I
- 19:40Speaker 2: want to– oh, this is going to sound hella kiddy,
- 19:42Speaker 2: but it's a dope-ass game. It's on PlayStation 5. It's
- 19:45Speaker 2: Astro Bot. Astro Bot.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Awesome. Fucking fire, dude. Yeah, so good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Such a good platformer. Got it.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I've got all everything except for this last level that
- 19:56Speaker 2: they just dropped, their last update, and I try to
- 19:58Speaker 2: play it. It's fucking hard. It's frustrating fifth grade hard. Like,
- 20:03Speaker 2: you know when you couldn't beat a game in fifth grade?
- 20:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you're throwing your controller.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Your palms are sweating as you're playing it. Knees weak,
- 20:08Speaker 2: arms heavy. Everybody in the room, shut the fuck up. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Oh, bro, I would rage out, man.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I would rage.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Like, I've lost teeth. My mom, like, my family will
- 20:16Speaker 3: tell you the story. Like, I used to be scared
- 20:18Speaker 3: to pull my teeth out. It was like a phobia thing.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I was like a little bitch about it. And I would, like,
- 20:22Speaker 3: leave them until they were just, like, dangling by a thread.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I'm looking like a freaking hillbilly. And I raged out.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I threw my controller on the ground and bounced back
- 20:31Speaker 3: up and knocked out, like, four of my teeth.
- 20:32Speaker 1: That I was, like, refusing to... Oh, to pull out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 1: So I did myself a favor in my own anger.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I was a psycho.
- 20:41Speaker 2: But you have a whole game room, you said, a
- 20:42Speaker 2: whole thing dedicated to you.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's my office, but it's also my game room.
- 20:44Speaker 1: That's dope.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I've got like– I collect. So it's like there
- 20:48Speaker 3: are hundreds of games in there that I've never played,
- 20:50Speaker 3: but I would love to get to one day. When
- 20:52Speaker 3: the grid goes down and we lose internet and we're
- 20:54Speaker 3: stuck in our house– come on over.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Bro you're a physical media dude that's dope yeah because
- 20:58Speaker 2: i'm i'm a physical media dude too and i know
- 21:01Speaker 2: it sounds like old head shit but it's like ever
- 21:03Speaker 2: since like what they're talking about hey we're only gonna
- 21:05Speaker 2: go uh you can't buy any more games yeah playstation
- 21:08Speaker 2: 5 talking about it yeah and then it's like and
- 21:10Speaker 2: then like i started rebuying all my uh because i'm
- 21:12Speaker 2: a film i'm a film buff yeah so it's like
- 21:15Speaker 2: uh or geek or cinephile whatever they call them now
- 21:17Speaker 2: um i uh I've started to rebuy all my DVDs.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 2: And, dude, it's been fun, though.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So you should get the collector app. Do you have
- 21:25Speaker 1: the iCollect app?
- 21:26Speaker 2: No.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Okay, so the iCollect app is, yeah, download that. So
- 21:31Speaker 3: it has all of my movies. So, like, here's all
- 21:34Speaker 3: my movies. Because I was going out and I was
- 21:36Speaker 3: buying duplicates, right?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Yeah. So, like, this, basically, as soon as I buy
- 21:39Speaker 1: a movie, I scan it in.
- 21:40Speaker 3: And then when I'm at a store and I'm like, oh,
- 21:42Speaker 3: do I have that already?
- 21:43Speaker 1: I'll know. So I have over 1,000 VHS and DVDs
- 21:47Speaker 1: and Blu-rays. That's awesome.
- 21:48Speaker 3: I have, like, you know, several hundred. So for me,
- 21:51Speaker 3: it's the same thing, bro. Like, oh, and that has
- 21:53Speaker 3: my action figures because I collect like Power Rangers and
- 21:55Speaker 3: Ninja Turtle shit.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I love that you said action figures too. They're not toys.
- 21:58Speaker 1: No, no, no. These are.
- 21:59Speaker 2: They have feelings.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Yeah, no. They do. Yeah. And then my records too
- 22:04Speaker 1: because I collect vinyls as well.
- 22:05Speaker 2: She collects vinyl. Oh, nice. And we're starting to collect
- 22:08Speaker 2: DVDs as well too.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Nice, yeah.
- 22:09Speaker 2: And steel. I'm in love with the steelbooks.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Yeah, those are just crazy expensive. I'm like, ugh. Like,
- 22:15Speaker 1: you know, a little too rich for my blood.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Dude, I've been... I go on the hunt.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 2: And I've gotten like.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Do you go to the cave?
- 22:22Speaker 2: No, I.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Well, first... Okay. Okay.
- 22:25Speaker 2: In Vegas, we were talking about this too, but the
- 22:26Speaker 2: cave doesn't have as much good things as like the
- 22:29Speaker 2: places that are closer to me.
- 22:31Speaker 1: We're like Zia's.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, you're in Vegas.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:34Speaker 2: There's a place called Zia, and they're also in Arizona,
- 22:36Speaker 2: and they're fucking mint. They come up on cool, good shit.
- 22:41Speaker 2: This one dude, apparently, so I got lucky one time.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I went over there. And this guy goes, hey, you're
- 22:47Speaker 2: the one that likes to collect steelbooks. I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 2: And he goes, we just got a shipment.
- 22:51Speaker 1: You're like known in the hood. You're like known in
- 22:54Speaker 1: the space. They're like, hey, that's the steelbook.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Dude, bro.
- 22:56Speaker 2: There he is.
- 22:56Speaker 1: There he is. Great white buffalo. Great white buffalo.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Exactly, bro. I was like, he goes, we got a
- 23:04Speaker 2: guy who just came here and dropped off about 250
- 23:08Speaker 2: of them.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Nice.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I was like, shut the fuck up. And he goes,
- 23:10Speaker 2: do you want to see him? And I go, yeah.
- 23:11Speaker 2: He goes, I got to ask my manager. He's not
- 23:12Speaker 2: here right now. And I'm like, why the fuck did
- 23:14Speaker 2: you tell me?
- 23:15Speaker 1: Way to give me steelbook blue balls.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Dude, I had to go home, and it just kept
- 23:19Speaker 2: fucking with me. And I called him. I was like,
- 23:21Speaker 2: when does he come in, though? Like, is he going
- 23:22Speaker 2: to be tomorrow or is it Saturday? And they're like, no,
- 23:24Speaker 2: he'll be– He'll be in later today. And I was like,
- 23:26Speaker 2: all right.
- 23:26Speaker 1: That's the cokehead in you, bro. Hey, listen. I'm going
- 23:29Speaker 1: to need them steel books.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I'll be there, man. Just let me know. And he
- 23:35Speaker 2: finally showed up. And I was like, hey, they said
- 23:38Speaker 2: you got a steel book. He was like, oh, yeah,
- 23:39Speaker 2: they're in the back. They're not wrapped yet, so they're
- 23:40Speaker 2: not ready to be put out. And I was like,
- 23:43Speaker 2: let me just look at them.
- 23:44Speaker 1: He goes, all right.
- 23:46Speaker 2: And so they assigned me a store representative, like one
- 23:49Speaker 2: of the little, because it's like Tower Records.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:52Speaker 2: So they assigned me like a teenager, and the teenager
- 23:55Speaker 2: had a stand by me while I went through the crate.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:57Speaker 2: And I pulled out a whole bunch, and I was like,
- 23:59Speaker 2: these are amazing. I got a fucking ton of good shit.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Nice. They let you buy them?
- 24:03Speaker 2: Yeah. He was like, you can buy them.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I had first dibs.
- 24:05Speaker 2: And so as I'm buying them, it came out to
- 24:07Speaker 2: like $ 700, right? And then I called my wife, and
- 24:10Speaker 2: I was like, babe, I just got a whole– you're
- 24:11Speaker 2: going to flip out on this haul. And then she
- 24:13Speaker 2: was like, how much was it? And it was funny
- 24:15Speaker 2: because the guy that sold all of his DVDs, I
- 24:17Speaker 2: was like, why did he sell these? He says, ah,
- 24:19Speaker 2: his wife didn't sell any.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Yeah, bro.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it just transfers from one angry wife to another.
- 24:24Speaker 2: And then I told my wife, I go, yeah, I
- 24:27Speaker 2: bought these. She goes, how much? $ 500? She was like, babe,
- 24:30Speaker 2: why'd you spend $ 500?
- 24:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Wait, did you drop it $ 200 from the actual?
- 24:33Speaker 3: I do the same thing, bro. I'm always like, you
- 24:35Speaker 3: know what? Let me just take this down another $ 100.
- 24:38Speaker 3: That'll sound better. You know what I mean? Just $ 500
- 24:40Speaker 3: on shit that I could put on a fucking flash
- 24:43Speaker 3: drive as opposed to $ 700.
- 24:45Speaker 1: That'll really make my wife happy. Yeah, that's taking up
- 24:47Speaker 1: hella space. Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 2: And then, yeah, and she was like, and then so
- 24:50Speaker 2: I had to come back because then I ended up
- 24:54Speaker 2: actually telling her, right?
- 24:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Because she started looking at them as I was showing,
- 24:56Speaker 2: and she was like, She was doing the math, because
- 24:59Speaker 2: you could still see the threat. And she was like,
- 25:00Speaker 2: that's already $ 500.
- 25:02Speaker 1: What's going on? And I go, yeah.
- 25:03Speaker 2: She was like, you don't need this one. You don't
- 25:04Speaker 2: need that one. You already have that one on Blu-ray.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I go, but that's on Blu-ray. This is 4K Steelbook.
- 25:08Speaker 2: And she was like, no. And so I went and
- 25:10Speaker 2: I told him, I go, these are doubles. And then
- 25:13Speaker 2: he goes- She said, you couldn't have him, huh? And
- 25:14Speaker 2: I go, yeah.
- 25:16Speaker 1: He knew what was up. He's like, same old sad story, dude.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Speaking of wives and stuff like that, I just seen
- 25:21Speaker 2: that you posted. You had your anniversary?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we got married, bro.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Oh, no, it wasn't the anniversary.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You got married. Yeah, we got married. Okay, okay. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I thought it was an anniversary, but that's great.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:28Speaker 2: And you did it, because I was reading, and it's
- 25:30Speaker 2: the courthouse thing, too, yeah?
- 25:31Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Same here. Yeah, that's the move, bro. Yeah, that's the move, man.
- 25:34Speaker 1: We got big families, dude. We've been together for 12 years.
- 25:37Speaker 3: We were supposed to get married back in 2021. COVID
- 25:39Speaker 3: happened and then life happened and then, uh, jobs. And
- 25:43Speaker 3: then we just, we didn't care.
- 25:44Speaker 1: You know what I mean? We didn't care enough to
- 25:46Speaker 1: really like, uh, stress about it. We were like, you
- 25:48Speaker 1: know what? We're happy. We're, we're chilling.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Like this isn't something that's super top of mind for us.
- 25:52Speaker 3: And then, um, uh, the one day we were just like,
- 25:57Speaker 3: and sometimes we would think about it and we would
- 25:58Speaker 3: be like, you know what, let's try to make it happen.
- 26:01Speaker 3: And then we try to coordinate all these different families
- 26:03Speaker 3: and it would just be too much.
- 26:03Speaker 1: You'd be like, nah, fuck this.
- 26:05Speaker 3: So I was like, babe, you know, let's just go
- 26:07Speaker 3: and sign paperwork. It'll give us 90 days to figure
- 26:10Speaker 3: out how to make it work. And then I checked
- 26:12Speaker 3: the website and they were booked for weeks. And then
- 26:14Speaker 3: the night before I checked again and somebody had dropped
- 26:17Speaker 3: out for the 10 a.m.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Slot. And I was like, babe, let's go get married.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And she was like, I'm down. And we already had
- 26:21Speaker 1: a dress.
- 26:21Speaker 3: We already had rings and we picked up flowers on
- 26:23Speaker 3: the way and we just knocked it out, bro.
- 26:25Speaker 1: They supplied the.
- 26:26Speaker 3: The officiant and the witness, and we surprised our families.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Nobody knew, and went and got lunch.
- 26:31Speaker 1: It was perfect, man. She was happy. That's all that matters.
- 26:34Speaker 3: She was stoked, and it kind of changed things, but
- 26:39Speaker 3: not really. The commitment was always there. It's kind of
- 26:42Speaker 3: just like this legal thing now, and I can call
- 26:44Speaker 3: her my wife, and it's fucking.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Awesome, man.
- 26:45Speaker 2: It's interesting, too, when you start calling them wife and
- 26:47Speaker 2: some of that.
- 26:49Speaker 3: I just got sick of saying fiancé. Fiancé is such
- 26:51Speaker 3: a posh, I don't know. After a while, it's just annoying.
- 26:54Speaker 1: It's like, my fiance.
- 26:56Speaker 2: My fiance. We're foodies, by the way.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Get over yourself.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:01Speaker 1: So anyway, we.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Jenny actually was at mine because we did it too.
- 27:04Speaker 1: We did a courthouse. Oh, yeah. She's mentioned that.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah. And Vegas is like so convenient.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 2: They have kiosks.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: That's how convenient.
- 27:11Speaker 1: It's built for that. Yeah.
- 27:12Speaker 2: So it was like.
- 27:13Speaker 1: But you were one of those edge cases where it
- 27:14Speaker 1: was love. yeah yeah yeah it was really.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Sober and everything and then so uh because we were
- 27:19Speaker 2: like okay yeah we'll do that and then we'll have
- 27:21Speaker 2: a thing for everybody we'll just have a party because
- 27:23Speaker 2: that's actually it's like we don't want to keep everybody
- 27:26Speaker 2: and then so we started like organizing it and my
- 27:30Speaker 2: wife was like i kind of don't i kind of
- 27:33Speaker 2: don't want to be okay if i didn't we didn't
- 27:34Speaker 2: do that and i was like absolute yes and i
- 27:37Speaker 2: was like and she's like because i don't i was
- 27:38Speaker 2: like That's why I fucking love you. That's why I wanted...
- 27:41Speaker 2: Because I was like, I don't give a... That's for
- 27:43Speaker 2: you if you want to hang out and have everyone
- 27:45Speaker 2: see you and all that. But I don't care. I
- 27:47Speaker 2: love you. I'm down to make this shit real.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was funny because Amoto, he got married.
- 27:54Speaker 2: I went to Marcus's wedding. But I didn't make it
- 27:57Speaker 2: to Moto's wedding, but Marcus probably could attest to this,
- 28:00Speaker 2: but Moto goes, he looked at me, he's like, damn,
- 28:02Speaker 2: I should have did that.
- 28:05Speaker 1: In the moment, too, everyone's dancing. He's like, I regret this.
- 28:09Speaker 2: He was like, he goes, I didn't even, dog, he goes,
- 28:11Speaker 2: I don't even remember my wedding. He goes, there was
- 28:13Speaker 2: so much shit happening. There was so much shit going
- 28:14Speaker 2: on that I was like, fuck, why did we do this?
- 28:19Speaker 3: Well, we took our own advice and we took the
- 28:21Speaker 3: advice of every person we ever knew that did a
- 28:23Speaker 3: big wedding who was like, if I could go back
- 28:25Speaker 3: in time, I would elope, and then I would have
- 28:27Speaker 3: a big party.
- 28:28Speaker 1: So that's what we're doing. Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 3: We eloped, and we're having a party next month, and
- 28:31Speaker 3: we're just going to invite our family over and cater
- 28:33Speaker 3: some bomb Arabic food and freaking hang out and dance
- 28:37Speaker 3: and smoke hookah and drink.
- 28:38Speaker 1: We're just going to have fun, man. We got the
- 28:40Speaker 1: house for it.
- 28:41Speaker 3: We got the space for it, and it's just going
- 28:44Speaker 3: to be easy peasy, man.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fun. That's the way to do it. That's
- 28:47Speaker 2: the way to do it. But you also did it well, too.
- 28:49Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie. It was nice. It was nice.
- 28:52Speaker 3: There's no, there's no knocking it, man. If like, that's
- 28:54Speaker 3: the thing is like part of me.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 3: It would have been cool to dance in front of
- 28:57Speaker 3: it to like do the, do the whole thing. And like, yeah,
- 29:00Speaker 3: it would have been cool to have everybody really, but
- 29:02Speaker 3: like have everybody hyped for us and shower us with
- 29:04Speaker 3: love and everything. But at the end of the day, man,
- 29:06Speaker 3: it was for us. And it was just, everybody has
- 29:08Speaker 3: their preferences, bro. Like I talked to my buddy Mike and,
- 29:10Speaker 3: and he's one of those, he's, he's one of those people.
- 29:12Speaker 3: It's like, no, I want to do the whole thing.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I want to do the wedding thing, you know? And
- 29:16Speaker 3: I'm not, there's, there's no, like, there's no knocking that.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Like if you want to do it, Do it.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Have fun. And, you know, like, do the whole thing. Yeah.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:25Speaker 2: No, it was nice because we were over there kicking it.
- 29:26Speaker 2: And I was surprised. I was like, these fools are chancy.
- 29:30Speaker 1: They do it.
- 29:31Speaker 2: They did it, like, you know, in, like, this, like,
- 29:33Speaker 2: ranch and then outside. And sometimes I was like, you
- 29:35Speaker 2: never know, man. Like, you know, it might be too hot.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I'm sweating.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I was like, yeah. That was like they took a gamble.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Out hella well. It was nice, too. It was funny
- 29:42Speaker 2: because that's how I knew I was ready to settle
- 29:47Speaker 2: down and get married because all of a sudden they
- 29:49Speaker 2: were doing their vows and I.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Was like, Getting emotional? That's how I feel.
- 29:57Speaker 2: And I looked at my then-girlfriend. I was like, oh, okay.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, man. Yeah, dude. Don't do it. It happened very fast,
- 30:07Speaker 1: you know, like when you do it at the courthouse.
- 30:08Speaker 1: It's very fast.
- 30:10Speaker 3: But you do take a second to realize what you're saying.
- 30:12Speaker 3: And you're like, yeah, I do. I'm with this person.
- 30:15Speaker 3: This is my person. We're going to figure out a
- 30:17Speaker 3: way to make it work. We're going to get through
- 30:19Speaker 3: the tough times. We're going to enjoy the fucking awesome times.
- 30:22Speaker 3: And we're just going to ride this wave. And it's
- 30:25Speaker 3: a crazy commitment, man. It doesn't really make sense. But
- 30:29Speaker 3: we're in it together. And I got good parents to
- 30:32Speaker 3: look up to who are still together to this day.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Who made it through the hard times. And it's like
- 30:36Speaker 3: they kind of set the example. And yeah, man, it's
- 30:40Speaker 3: a pretty sweet, rad thing.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I'm trying to write this bit. And I don't mean
- 30:43Speaker 2: to do bit on it.
- 30:44Speaker 1: No, yeah, drop it, man.
- 30:45Speaker 2: But I'm trying to write this bit about.
- 30:48Speaker 2: The day of the proposal, though, like, when you propose, like,
- 30:52Speaker 2: you have to do the most lying you ever have
- 30:55Speaker 2: to do to her in that day. Because you're lying to, like,
- 30:58Speaker 2: the setup and the place to get it. So much
- 31:01Speaker 2: so that you don't want them to have any idea
- 31:02Speaker 2: what might be happening.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's very true, yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 2: And then I go, and the bit is, like, just
- 31:07Speaker 2: the lying to her the most.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you're starting off the relationship with deception and lies.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Yes, yeah. And then it's also, too, it's like, She
- 31:14Speaker 1: appreciates it.
- 31:15Speaker 2: That's the only time that she will let it go,
- 31:16Speaker 2: most of them. But it's like, I have a Latina wife.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Yeah, me too. Oh, yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 2: So they appreciate it, but in the back of their mind,
- 31:26Speaker 2: they're like, he's a motherfucking liar.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Yeah, if he's capable of this, what else is he
- 31:30Speaker 1: lying about? Yeah, what else is he lying about? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Man, he was a little too good at that. How
- 31:34Speaker 3: did I not know what was going on? Let me
- 31:35Speaker 3: go through this dude's phone. For real, seriously, no shit.
- 31:39Speaker 3: That's what I was like.
- 31:39Speaker 2: That's great. We're watching Obsession, too.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Oh, so good. Did you like it? I liked it.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so, so good, man. I haven't stopped thinking about it, bro.
- 31:46Speaker 3: It's like been stuck in the back. I got the 4K.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Oh, you did?
- 31:49Speaker 1: It's at home. I'll re-watch it, yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Really? I think a Steelbook's going to drop, too, like
- 31:54Speaker 2: in a couple months or something like that. Are you
- 31:56Speaker 2: going to wait for the Steelbook?
- 31:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Oh, you got the regular 4K? Oh, I'm going to
- 32:01Speaker 3: wait for the special drop. That shit needs to go
- 32:05Speaker 3: clink when I close it.
- 32:06Speaker 2: What did I buy recently?
- 32:07Speaker 1: I got.
- 32:08Speaker 2: The thing that I got recently was I pre-ordered Hail Mary,
- 32:14Speaker 2: the Project Hail Mary.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I just watched that. Yeah.
- 32:17Speaker 2: How would you think?
- 32:17Speaker 1: I liked it. I liked it. I'm not ashamed to
- 32:20Speaker 1: say I cried twice. Dude, guess who else cried?
- 32:24Speaker 2: My guy right here. So I watched it with her mom,
- 32:29Speaker 2: and her mom was bawling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I
- 32:31Speaker 2: was like, oh. And then I go, oh. And then
- 32:33Speaker 2: the next day, I go, she has to watch this.
- 32:35Speaker 2: And so she– Eliana starts watching it, and then she
- 32:38Speaker 2: starts bawling.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Bawling so much that we had to pause it.
- 32:42Speaker 1: So what part? So I'm guessing– The spoilers.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the spoilers. But I'm guessing the part– there
- 32:48Speaker 3: was two parts that got me. It's first when he
- 32:50Speaker 3: told him he was going to give him the fuel
- 32:51Speaker 3: that he needed. Yes, that's where I kind of was
- 32:53Speaker 3: like– Yeah, that's where I started to well up, right?
- 32:55Speaker 3: Because he gets all emotional, and you're getting emotional for him.
- 32:58Speaker 3: And then obviously when you think homeboy is going to– Yeah, yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Kind of kick rocks, if you will.
- 33:03Speaker 2: It was so funny because she cried so much that
- 33:06Speaker 2: we had to kind of pause it and then... And
- 33:08Speaker 2: then on top of that, too, I'm trying to make
- 33:09Speaker 2: her cry more because I'm like– Do you get emotional
- 33:12Speaker 2: in movies usually? I do now. I do now every
- 33:15Speaker 2: since I've been married. Never used to have that. Never
- 33:17Speaker 2: used to– and then also, but now it's like.
- 33:21Speaker 3: I'm one of those people. I don't cry about sad stuff.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Like sad stuff, people like– it doesn't really get to me.
- 33:27Speaker 3: I cry about happy stuff.
- 33:29Speaker 2: About life.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Like about life.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Like when a team wins or when– I'll cry at
- 33:34Speaker 3: like a really good dance performance.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm like, oh, that was amazing.
- 33:38Speaker 3: I'll watch old reruns of America's Best Dance Crew, and
- 33:41Speaker 3: the Jabbawockeez are tutting, and I'm like, they've committed to
- 33:46Speaker 3: their work so hard.
- 33:48Speaker 1: To get to this point.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Because I'm an artist, bro, so I get emotional about
- 33:53Speaker 3: really good art or music.
- 33:55Speaker 1: I'll see a dude see colors.
- 33:57Speaker 3: You ever see those videos of people wearing glasses that
- 33:59Speaker 3: have them see colors for the first time?
- 34:01Speaker 1: I'll well up in tears about that type of shit.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I'm weird, bro. People can die. That doesn't bother me.
- 34:08Speaker 1: People dying, come on.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Did you do the lettering?
- 34:10Speaker 1: Like two, three times. I can't see it from here. No,
- 34:13Speaker 1: you have given the light. We've gone over so much.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I was like, I go, why did I go? Because
- 34:18Speaker 2: I looked down and I was like, oh shit, this
- 34:19Speaker 2: album's going to be 1130.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Yeah, we ran way over. It's all right. Who cares?
- 34:23Speaker 2: Why don't you go, I own this thing.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Fuck it. Nice. Also, I haven't introduced myself. No one
- 34:27Speaker 1: knows who I am.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Oh, that's right.
- 34:30Speaker 1: You were like, hey, dog, what's the first concept you've
- 34:34Speaker 1: been to? I'm like, you know what?
- 34:35Speaker 3: We'll get to it eventually, bro. I'll put it at
- 34:38Speaker 3: the top. We'll put it in the title. We can
- 34:40Speaker 3: edit that in. So Eliana's going to do some questions.
- 34:44Speaker 3: We're going to do some trivia.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Let's do it, bro.
- 34:46Speaker 2: You're pitted against the other comics right now. Marcus just
- 34:50Speaker 2: had 10 points.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Okay, nice.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Lance is the champ right now with 14.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Lance Woods? Lance Woods, yeah. Lance motherfucking Woods. Wait, so
- 34:58Speaker 1: if you know, how's the scoring work? I'm all competitive.
- 35:01Speaker 2: The last question is the final Jeopardy question. You can
- 35:04Speaker 2: wager your points.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Is it whoever gets, are you answering too?
- 35:08Speaker 2: I'm just hanging out, and then I'll answer. I'll give
- 35:11Speaker 2: hints and shit.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I like trivia. He'll help you out.
- 35:14Speaker 3: By the way, I'm Shaheen Call, everybody. I'm a local
- 35:16Speaker 3: comedian here in Sacramento, California.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Now edit that part for the beginning. Yeah, I'll take
- 35:20Speaker 1: that and put that at the top, because you guys
- 35:22Speaker 1: are just like, who is this fool? All right.
- 35:24Speaker 2: And three, two, one.
- 35:26Speaker 1: For the cut.
- 35:27Speaker 4: There's movie questions, 90s and 2000s, and it's like some
- 35:30Speaker 4: pop culture.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Oh, dude, I'm locked in. You got this.
- 35:33Speaker 4: You like movies.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I'm locked in.
- 35:35Speaker 4: What directorial debut... Jordan Peele about a black man who
- 35:39Speaker 4: discovers dark secrets about his girlfriend's family earned him an
- 35:42Speaker 4: Oscar nomination.
