Transcript
- 0:00Good morning , market friends !
- 0:02It is 6 am on Sunday , April 5th , 2026 , here in the Pacific time zone .
- 0:08I am your host , Sunny Daye , and you are listening to Spy Trader .
- 0:13We produce this show every few hours to keep you updated on the pulse of the market .
- 0:18Grab your coffee and let's get ready for a big week ahead as we transition from the busy end of the first quarter into the highly anticipated earnings season .
- 0:27Last Friday , we got the March Jobs Report , and honestly , it was a total Goldilocks situation .
- 0:34Hiring stayed steady while wage growth cooled down .
- 0:37That has investors feeling cautiously optimistic , even though we are currently bumping up against alltime highs and looking at a week that might see some highvolume consolidation .
- 0:48Our first big focus this week is the macroeconomic narrative which we are calling the final mile of disinflation .
- 0:55The Federal Reserve is watching the data closely .
- 0:59On Wednesday , April 8th , we get the FOMC Minutes .
- 1:03We will be looking for clues on whether a summer interest rate cut is on the table .
- 1:08If the Fed sounds a bit too hawkish , we might see the iShares 20 plus Year Treasury Bond ETF , also known as TLT , face some pressure as yields rise .
- 1:18Then on Thursday , the Producer Price Index or PPI comes out .
- 1:23This is a huge deal for our big tech companies in the Invesco QQQ Trust .
- 1:28If PPI is lower than expected , it means lower costs for manufacturers and higher margins for tech .
- 1:35Speaking of tech , the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund , ticker XLK , is still leading the way .
- 1:43We are seeing the AI cycle shift from hardware like chips toward software integration .
- 1:48Keep an eye on Microsoft and ServiceNow this week as analysts start buzzing before their earnings .
- 1:54If you are feeling a bit risky , NVIDIA is still the bellwether .
- 1:59Their new Rubin architecture is ramping up production , making any dip in the stock or the VanEck Semiconductor ETF , SMH , a tactical opportunity .
- 2:09On Friday , April 10th , the bank earnings kick off with heavyweights like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo .
- 2:16The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund , XLF , will likely be the most volatile spot in the market .
- 2:23Everyone wants to see if JPMorgan raises guidance on their interest income .
- 2:29If they do , XLF could finally break out of its recent range .
- 2:33If all this volatility makes you nervous , there is a defensive rotation happening in healthcare .
- 2:40The Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund , XLV , has been seeing quiet inflows , especially with Eli Lilly dominating the news regarding their drug manufacturing capacity .
- 2:53For our trading recommendations this week , I suggest keeping the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF , VOO , or the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust , SPY , as your core holding .
- 3:06The jobs report gave us a nice cushion against recession fears , so staying diversified here is a smart move .
- 3:13If you want income and stability , the iShares Core U.S.
- 3:17Aggregate Bond ETF , or AGG , is offering a nice yield of over 4 percent right now .
- 3:24It is a great hedge against the bank volatility we expect on Friday .
- 3:28Finally , keep an eye on Real Estate through the Vanguard Real Estate ETF , VNQ .
- 3:34If that PPI data on Thursday is cool , companies like Prologis could see a massive rally .
- 3:40To recap our checklist : Monday and Tuesday might be sideways , so use VTI for broad exposure .
- 3:47Wednesday focus on TLT during the Fed minutes .
- 3:51Thursday watch XLK and VNQ after the PPI report .
- 3:56And Friday , it is all about the big banks like JPMorgan .
- 4:00If you are a bit heavy on tech , maybe this is the week to diversify into healthcare with XLV or international markets with VXUS .
- 4:09Stay smart , stay friendly , and I will see you back here in a few hours .
- 4:15This is Sunny Daye signing off for Spy Trader .
