Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Head coaching name we're going to discuss, and that's Eli Drinkwits.
- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a name that's kind of popped up recently
- 0:06Speaker 1: since the head coaching job was announced. And again, I
- 0:09Speaker 1: do think there's interest from Eli and his camp. I
- 0:13Speaker 1: think he's kind of putting fillers out there and talking
- 0:15Speaker 1: to certain people and things like that. And that goes
- 0:17Speaker 1: to show you, man, don't ever get this shit confused, man.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The logo is the logo. The logo is the logo.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Florida State is still the premier job in the country. Yes,
- 0:27Speaker 1: we have been terrible in the last few years, but
- 0:29Speaker 1: you bring it in. And if you look at Doe
- 0:30Speaker 1: Camel Stadium these last few years, this shit has been packed.
- 0:34Speaker 1: This Clemson game this past weekend, it was packed. Until
- 0:37Speaker 1: Clemson started putting on our ass and that type of deal,
- 0:39Speaker 1: that's when people started leaving the game. But you have
- 0:41Speaker 1: a fan base that's hungry, a fan base that's committed.
- 0:45Speaker 1: You have resources. Everything that Jim O'Fisher won away back then,
- 0:49Speaker 1: you have now. You're in a recruiting program, the Florida
- 0:55Speaker 1: State Premier Program. You're in the ACC. So it's a
- 0:58Speaker 1: lot of, I say all that to say this, it's
- 1:01Speaker 1: value within the logo. People still look at this as
- 1:04Speaker 1: a premier job, and Drinkwich kind of throwing his name
- 1:08Speaker 1: in the hat kind of proves that. But he's the
- 1:10Speaker 1: Missouri head coach. He's 51 and 31 at Missouri in
- 1:14Speaker 1: seven years. Currently 5-2 with the Tigers, ranked number 20th
- 1:17Speaker 1: in the country. Has Missouri as a formidable team in
- 1:21Speaker 1: the ACC. Never had a losing season as a head
- 1:24Speaker 1: coach prior to coming over to Missouri. His first year
- 1:28Speaker 1: as a head coach was at App State, went 12-1 there.
- 1:31Speaker 1: He was out. He was the next head coach at Missouri.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Pretty good recruiter from Missouri standpoint. Was able to get
- 1:38Speaker 1: five-star Luther Burton, a local kid from Missouri. Not saying local,
- 1:41Speaker 1: but he's from the state of Missouri. Was able to
- 1:44Speaker 1: keep him on. Was a big-time playmaker for the Tigers.
- 1:46Speaker 1: If you guys remember, he flipped Javion Hilton, the four-star,
- 1:50Speaker 1: borderline five-star defensive end from Florida State, Flipped him from us.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Javen Boggs, our current receiver, he was committed to Missouri
- 1:58Speaker 1: at a certain point in time as well. You guys
- 2:00Speaker 1: know Boggs. He was all-world in high school, missed to
- 2:03Speaker 1: Florida this, that, and third. Both of those guys went
- 2:05Speaker 1: to Coco, so he knows how to trap in Florida
- 2:07Speaker 1: for sure. He has an emphasis on a defensive line.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Emphasis on a defensive line. Really good D-line play for Missouri.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I'm a Ravens fan. Had Zion Young go second round
- 2:19Speaker 1: for Missouri last year. That's another topic. Zion Young was
- 2:23Speaker 1: pretty much, he took an official visit to Florida State.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Could have been a layup for us as well, but
- 2:28Speaker 1: he let me go to Mizzou out of the transfer
- 2:29Speaker 1: portal from Michigan State. You know, going second round from
- 2:32Speaker 1: those guys. But I do think he'd be a solid recruiter.
- 2:38Speaker 1: He has a winning record versus University of Florida as well, too,
- 2:41Speaker 1: with a talent discrepancy, a big talent discrepancy. He's four
- 2:44Speaker 1: and three versus the Gators with, you know, pretty much
- 2:47Speaker 1: in every matchup having lesser talent than what Florida will have.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I would like to see what a possible staff would
- 2:54Speaker 1: be from, I guess you could say, a con standpoint.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I would like to see what his possible staff would be.
- 2:58Speaker 1: FSU is a bigger job. He recruits well for Mizzou,
- 3:03Speaker 1: but will he be able to recruit in the lead
- 3:05Speaker 1: level that FSU requires? Not exactly sure. We'll see how
- 3:10Speaker 1: that plays out, if he would be the guy. His
- 3:12Speaker 1: staff would be key. He can come off kind of
- 3:15Speaker 1: corny at times, which I don't know. give a damn
- 3:17Speaker 1: and care less about how you coach. He doesn't mind
- 3:19Speaker 1: talking shit either. He'll throw some shots in the media
- 3:21Speaker 1: to other teams and that type of deal. It's been
- 3:24Speaker 1: a big talking point from people that follow the SEC
- 3:29Speaker 1: or feel like the SEC is overrated that Mizzou, well,
- 3:35Speaker 1: not Mizzou, but his drinks record itself versus ranked teams. Granted,
- 3:40Speaker 1: it's not great. One, it's still Missouri. is still Missouri.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I mean, you're battling giants in the SEC like Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Texas,
- 3:57Speaker 1: et cetera. So he's still at Mizzou. He always beats
- 4:04Speaker 1: Florida's ass. Exactly. Like Florida is a team that has
- 4:07Speaker 1: more talent than him. Florida is, quote unquote, a premier
- 4:10Speaker 1: SEC team too. And if you look at the recruiting rankings,
- 4:14Speaker 1: Florida should be whooping Missouri ass, but again, he has
- 4:17Speaker 1: a winning record against them, so he punches above his weight.
- 4:20Speaker 1: With that being said, the ACC isn't the SEC. We
- 4:24Speaker 1: know that. He shouldn't have any issues. You got what? Miami?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Clemson was that type of matchup, but they're currently on
- 4:32Speaker 1: a downward swing, in my opinion. Louisville? North Carolina? SMU?
- 4:42Speaker 1: I mean, like, again, we're It's the ACC. Miami is
- 4:46Speaker 1: the only team that has the comparable talent to the
- 4:50Speaker 1: teams we just discussed in the SEC that he's losing to.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So to say, what's his record? Again, this is nitpicking
- 4:56Speaker 1: bullshit in my opinion, especially for a program that's been getting,
- 4:59Speaker 1: we're fucking 10-22, man. Whatever record I say, it might
- 5:02Speaker 1: not be as 10-22. Am I correct? 10-22 since the
- 5:05Speaker 1: 2024 season. 10-22. 10-22. So being in the ACC, he
- 5:13Speaker 1: shouldn't have any issues with those games. Like I said,
- 5:15Speaker 1: you have Miami. Miami and Clemson. And Clemson isn't the
- 5:19Speaker 1: same Clemson that we have come to know over the years.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So I think that's a BS argument. But again, that
- 5:26Speaker 1: could be a possible con because the record is the
- 5:27Speaker 1: record and it's not great against the ranked teams in
- 5:29Speaker 1: the SEC. But again, we're talking about Mizzou against some
- 5:32Speaker 1: of the more talented teams in the country regardless of conference.
- 5:38Speaker 1: You bring that to the ACC... For one, he'll be
- 5:43Speaker 1: able to recruit better players than Missouri. He'll be able
- 5:48Speaker 1: to recruit better players than Missouri. Of course, it's all
- 5:49Speaker 1: staff depending on that type of deal. He'll be able
- 5:51Speaker 1: to recruit better players than Missouri. And for two, he's
- 5:53Speaker 1: playing in a conference that's not as strong as the SEC.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The ACC is very winnable. Again, I encourage you guys
- 6:00Speaker 1: to go look at our schedule for the 2027 season
- 6:06Speaker 1: and tell me how many teams you see as, oh, hey,
- 6:08Speaker 1: we got a Bring our A-game for this one. How
- 6:10Speaker 1: many teams do you see as, damn, that's tough? There's
- 6:14Speaker 1: not many. So I think Eli Drinkwich would be a
- 6:16Speaker 1: solid head coach. Those are the pros and cons there
- 6:18Speaker 1: for him. Again, I think he would be a solid
- 6:20Speaker 1: one and a guy that has a pretty good damn
- 6:23Speaker 1: job in the SEC, rather, excuse me, in Missouri. But
- 6:27Speaker 1: Florida State is one of those jobs, in my opinion.
- 6:29Speaker 1: It's a premier job.
