Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, it's me Bridger.
- 0:04Speaker 2: The plan obviously was to have a new episode this week,
- 0:08Speaker 2: but you know, if you're a news junkie like me,
- 0:11Speaker 2: you may may have read a story about Los Angeles
- 0:15Speaker 2: being on fire. That's kind of the current state of affairs.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I'm sitting in my kitchen. There's a lot of stuff
- 0:22Speaker 2: on fire, and it's just hell. I really can't help
- 0:28Speaker 2: but feel like this is sort of punishment for all
- 0:31Speaker 2: of the complaining I've done about rain on this podcast,
- 0:34Speaker 2: and for that, I'm sorry. I'll try to learn from this,
- 0:39Speaker 2: but you know, I whine about rain for years, and
- 0:43Speaker 2: now I seem to have a problem with wind and
- 0:46Speaker 2: fire and it's just starting to feel like there's no
- 0:49Speaker 2: extreme weather pattern that will make me happy. I don't
- 0:53Speaker 2: know what to say, but anyway, you know, it is
- 0:56Speaker 2: a horrible, horrible nightmare. Fortunately, I'm all right, and I
- 1:01Speaker 2: appreciate everybody emailing and messaging and commenting concerned about me
- 1:07Speaker 2: and on a lease in the backyard and everything. And
- 1:11Speaker 2: obviously not everyone did, and those people are now on
- 1:15Speaker 2: my list. I'll deal with you later, but yeah, I've
- 1:20Speaker 2: been very fortunate so far.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I'm okay. The backyard is still there. There's a light layer.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Of ash, so we probably won't be recording episodes back
- 1:30Speaker 2: there for a minute just due to everything in general,
- 1:35Speaker 2: but hopefully we can get back there soon.
- 1:37Speaker 1: If you feel like.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Helping with this horrible, terrible nightmare scenario that we're currently
- 1:44Speaker 2: living through, this is an easy way to help. You
- 1:47Speaker 2: can google LA two zero five zero fire guide and
- 1:53Speaker 2: the top result should be a volunteer and support guide
- 1:57Speaker 2: with links to donate or to volunteer if you happen
- 2:01Speaker 2: to be in the area all kinds of things. There
- 2:03Speaker 2: are at least a thousand ways to help, so just
- 2:06Speaker 2: take your pick, and if you can't or do not
- 2:11Speaker 2: want to do any of that, that's also fine.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Do your thing. I'm not your mom anyway. This episode is.
- 2:19Speaker 2: A rerun with Cola Scola, who is just an absolute miracle.
- 2:25Speaker 2: We all agree on that if you haven't heard it already,
- 2:29Speaker 2: you'll enjoy it. If you've heard it before, you will
- 2:31Speaker 2: enjoy it. I guess those are the two options. Oh
- 2:37Speaker 2: an update on this episode. Actually, at the time, my
- 2:41Speaker 2: doctor had just revealed to me that he was starting
- 2:45Speaker 2: a podcast, and as far as I know, as of
- 2:49Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, that podcast is no longer a podcast.
- 2:54Speaker 2: It stopped existing, and yet this one is still standing.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And I didn't have to go to medical school, so
- 3:03Speaker 2: look who came out on top doctor. Anyway, feel free
- 3:08Speaker 2: to listen to this episode or to dip into our
- 3:12Speaker 2: rich back catalog of other episodes. Try to enjoy something,
- 3:17Speaker 2: try to take care of yourself, or or don't. Again,
- 3:21Speaker 2: maybe you feel like letting yourself go. That's also an option.
- 3:26Speaker 2: I'm not here to force you to do anything. I
- 3:29Speaker 2: just offered these suggestions. You take them and you use
- 3:32Speaker 2: them to color your life in whatever.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Way you see fit. Oh my god, let's get into
- 3:38Speaker 1: the show. Invit.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Did you hear fun a man? Myself? Perfectly clear? But
- 3:57Speaker 3: you're I guess Tom, you gotta come to me empty
- 4:03Speaker 3: and I said, no, guest, your presences, presents, and I'm
- 4:11Speaker 3: already too much stuff.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So how do you dad?
- 4:16Speaker 3: Disurbey me?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Welcome to I said, no gifts. I am Bridger Wineger.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I hope you're doing okay. I hope you're having a
- 4:36Speaker 2: nice day. I what's going on? Let's see this morning,
- 4:42Speaker 2: I went to the doctor, you know, for just a
- 4:45Speaker 2: general checkup, and he told me that he has a podcast.
- 4:52Speaker 2: This was unprompted and of his little shocking for me.
- 4:55Speaker 2: So I just thought i'd let you know that there
- 4:56Speaker 2: is some level of competition out there, and I won't
- 5:01Speaker 2: be naming the doctor or the podcast. He's not getting
- 5:04Speaker 2: any advertising here. We have to move on. I'm today's guests.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I could not be more thrilled. One of the absolute funniest,
- 5:13Speaker 2: none other than Cola Scola Coal High Bridger.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Welcome to I said, no gifts, How are you?
- 5:20Speaker 4: I'm great. I just I'm sorry about the mole. The well.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I was listening to your Doctor's podcasts and today's topic
- 5:30Speaker 4: was your your mole.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Right, and it doesn't look like things are it's going
- 5:35Speaker 2: to be an issue, right.
- 5:37Speaker 1: He said? He said, it's not cancerous, but it is ugly, right, so.
- 5:42Speaker 2: And kind of just an unremovable It's just something I
- 5:46Speaker 2: have to live with at this point.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah, insurance won't cover that, and yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm not paying out of pocket, right, I'll live ugly
- 5:54Speaker 2: with this ugly mole before I spend a penny. So great,
- 5:58Speaker 2: I mean, I didn't obviously realized he was recording at
- 6:01Speaker 2: the time I was in the room, but I did
- 6:04Speaker 2: sign all of the sheets before going into the office.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it sounded like you were doing a
- 6:10Speaker 4: mic check. I mean it's opened with the two of
- 6:13Speaker 4: you going check check check one two.
- 6:15Speaker 1: This is Bridger.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Well, when somebody, when somebody tells me to do something,
- 6:19Speaker 2: I just kind of followed directions. I got at the
- 6:21Speaker 2: doctor's office to cause trouble.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Right, right, right right.
- 6:24Speaker 2: You're from Utah, right, And he's a medical professional, for
- 6:27Speaker 2: all I know. He just wanted to check my throat
- 6:30Speaker 2: or what have you. Yes, and I trust him. I've
- 6:33Speaker 2: seen him three times now, so that's enough. There's the charm. Yeah, RTA,
- 6:38Speaker 2: And I know you know he's taken some sort of oath.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Mm hmmm.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I had had listen. I actually had a very stressful
- 6:46Speaker 2: time on my way to the doctor. There was the
- 6:48Speaker 2: world's longest train stopping. There was a train that truly
- 6:54Speaker 2: was bisecting Los Angeles.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Oh ye, So you're in your car and then you're
- 6:59Speaker 4: waiting for train to pass.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Right, and the train wasn't passing, and I ended up
- 7:04Speaker 2: having to drive beyond the train.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Wait, so you are your neck and neck, you're racing
- 7:09Speaker 4: the train, get around it your neck and neck, and
- 7:13Speaker 4: you cut it off in order to make it to
- 7:15Speaker 4: the doctor's appointment.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Right only to be secretly recording this kind of personal issue,
- 7:24Speaker 2: this mole that I've been living with through the pandemic worryings.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Just am I going to be having this hideous thing
- 7:31Speaker 2: on me forever?
- 7:32Speaker 1: And now you know you you will? I will? How
- 7:34Speaker 1: do you move forward? You don't?
- 7:37Speaker 2: You have to dwell, you have to live there. This
- 7:40Speaker 2: is just eat you from the inside out. And just
- 7:45Speaker 2: that's the sort of situation there.
- 7:46Speaker 1: You are now.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Kind of one of those dead like you see those
- 7:52Speaker 2: photos of a fox that's kind of just been eaten
- 7:54Speaker 2: from the inside out lying in the snow carcass.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I think we have the same search hist Bridger. I'm
- 8:01Speaker 1: not sure what you're searching. I you know, I'm constantly
- 8:05Speaker 1: looking for a rotting foxes. What are you talking about?
- 8:10Speaker 2: I feel like I've seen you must. I actually don't
- 8:14Speaker 2: know where this would have come from, but I feel
- 8:16Speaker 2: like at some point, some sort of time lapse footage
- 8:19Speaker 2: has crossed my desk of a fox being kind of
- 8:22Speaker 2: devoured by nature.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You know what, I won't lie, I can.
- 8:25Speaker 4: I can conjure that image in my mind, which means
- 8:28Speaker 4: I must have seen it at some point as well.
- 8:30Speaker 2: There must be some sort of maybe I don't know,
- 8:33Speaker 2: a National geographic or Planet Earth or where they're showing
- 8:37Speaker 2: right where they kind of blindside you with dead animal.
- 8:40Speaker 2: The view they must view they have the they will
- 8:44Speaker 2: just bring in various animal corpse and put them in
- 8:47Speaker 2: the table and just let that be topic of conversation.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Occasionally they just let it be something to cut to,
- 8:53Speaker 1: you know, just the swarm of flies devouring of all
- 8:58Speaker 1: the ladies talk. It's my favorite part. Yeah, Cole, what
- 9:04Speaker 1: have you been up to?
- 9:06Speaker 3: Oh?
- 9:06Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:07Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't know nothing. Everything I've been
- 9:13Speaker 4: you know, everything's a chore.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Right. Do you feel like it's getting harder and harder?
- 9:20Speaker 1: I always, ever since I was a child, everything's been
- 9:24Speaker 1: getting harder and harder, And maybe everything will just continue
- 9:29Speaker 1: to get harder and harder until it's unbearable and then death.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I think that's probably true.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I think that there's like a through your twenties, things
- 9:38Speaker 2: get a little bit easier and then I mean, isn't
- 9:41Speaker 2: it just the inevitable that you grow weaker, more tired,
- 9:45Speaker 2: and the.
- 9:45Speaker 4: Challenges the body? Yeah, I this time lapse. We are
- 9:51Speaker 4: all the fox on the table at the View, just
- 9:55Speaker 4: being eaten from the inside while the ladies talk about,
- 9:59Speaker 4: you know, whatever they talk about.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I haven't.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I don't know the last time. I don't know that
- 10:06Speaker 2: I've actually ever watched a full episode of the View.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Do you have you ever sat down and just set
- 10:11Speaker 2: through the View? You still love it?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Really? I don't.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean actually I don't know why I ask
- 10:16Speaker 2: like that. Of course, it's it's a very entertaining thing
- 10:19Speaker 2: to watch them. Yeah, but now anything, I don't like
- 10:22Speaker 2: reality anything. Reality is too stressful for me.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Right, competition shows, Real Housewives, Oh, that's so anxiety inducing.
- 10:33Speaker 2: I'm only recently watching the Housewives, which and only because
- 10:38Speaker 2: it's the Salt Lake City Housewives, and so it's Oh,
- 10:41Speaker 2: I feel like I had no choice. And then it
- 10:43Speaker 2: took over for me, it really because once I settled
- 10:45Speaker 2: into that energy, which was too much for me. Yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 2: I'm enjoying it, but I can't the rest of them.
- 10:52Speaker 2: I can't get into. Well, you got to support your mom.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I know that she's sort of the star of that show. Well, look,
- 10:59Speaker 2: they put her hell and those auditions, and she did
- 11:03Speaker 2: everything to get on. She started her own little business,
- 11:06Speaker 2: turned it into an empire. Have you really been watching
- 11:09Speaker 2: the whole show. Oh, I've seen every episode of that season,
- 11:12Speaker 2: and you do like it. I do enjoy watching it, Okay.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I didn't expect to, because I have I know a
- 11:19Speaker 2: lot of people and I'm sure you do too, a
- 11:21Speaker 2: lot of people who love all of the housewives.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yes, and I could not.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I tried maybe Beverly Hills or something at some point,
- 11:29Speaker 2: and I think I watched two episodes and that was
- 11:31Speaker 2: it for me. But the Salt Lake Housewives are so
- 11:36Speaker 2: unbelievably low rent, and I just feel like they're always
- 11:41Speaker 2: in an extremely drafty room and there's something about them
- 11:46Speaker 2: that feels right and I can get into it. And
- 11:50Speaker 2: it's also like it's just fun to see them hosting
- 11:54Speaker 2: at events that are supposedly classy and that I'm like, oh,
- 11:58Speaker 2: that's next to them.
- 11:59Speaker 4: All right, right, right, right today we're at the tcby
- 12:05Speaker 4: for the big charity event.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I mean.
- 12:10Speaker 2: The shows are so convoluted and so I mean everything
- 12:14Speaker 2: about no one goes to that many events or even
- 12:18Speaker 2: interacts with their friends that much.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, or I don't.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I can't imagine like seeing like fighting with people and
- 12:26Speaker 4: then continuing to see them for years and years, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 4: like I've maybe had like like one disagreement with like
- 12:36Speaker 4: maybe three friends. You know, then it took like a
- 12:39Speaker 4: year to recover from that, you know.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Right, Like I'll go to a wonderful dinner with a
- 12:44Speaker 2: friend and not see them for two of yous.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Sure, sure, and nothing bad happened at all, Right, but these.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Shows are made to just stress you out.
- 12:52Speaker 4: And it's like, oh, is Amber going to show up
- 12:55Speaker 4: to the party and You're just on the edge of
- 12:58Speaker 4: your seat and I just find my self like my
- 13:00Speaker 4: stomach is in knots over like something I don't care
- 13:04Speaker 4: about about people that I don't care about that I
- 13:07Speaker 4: would hate in real life, And I think, why am
- 13:09Speaker 4: I doing this myself? So instead I've been watching a
- 13:14Speaker 4: lecture on the plague? Wait, you've been watching a lecture
- 13:18Speaker 4: on the plague? Yes, who is doing a lecture? It's
- 13:22Speaker 4: through the Great Courses. Plus do they s this podcast?
- 13:26Speaker 4: They should?
- 13:27Speaker 1: I can't believe they haven't yet.
- 13:28Speaker 4: It's like it's like Masterclass, but Masterclass is really slick
- 13:34Speaker 4: and sexy and like celebrities, right, It's sort of like
- 13:38Speaker 4: Masterclass goes to these celebrities and says like, do you
- 13:41Speaker 4: want to hear some money.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Talk, right, it doesn't have to be about anything. Yeah,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and you don't really learn anything. It's just Aaron Zork
- 13:48Speaker 1: and being like, man, I love cocaine and writing, and
- 13:52Speaker 1: you're like, oh, why am I paying for this? Okay?
- 13:55Speaker 4: But then the Great Courses plus is people that should
- 13:59Speaker 4: never be on It's these college professors who have no charisma.
- 14:05Speaker 4: They're on these horrible sets. It's like a substitute teacher
- 14:08Speaker 4: sort of energy.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's like tele learning at college that was called something
- 14:13Speaker 2: like distance learning, or.
- 14:14Speaker 4: They're reading off of a teleprompter. They don't do any cuts,
- 14:19Speaker 4: so often they'll stumble, Oh that sounds incredible to me. Yeah,
- 14:24Speaker 4: it's very soothing. But I just finished the twenty four
- 14:28Speaker 4: part lecture on the plague.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Twenty four parts? How long is each part? Half an hour? Oh?
- 14:34Speaker 2: Okay, so that's not bad. No, And do you feel
- 14:38Speaker 2: like you learned about the plague?
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah? I do.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I want to hear what you've learned. I mean, just
- 14:43Speaker 2: a brief summary would be.
- 14:44Speaker 4: I learned that it was actually really bad, like despite
- 14:48Speaker 4: all the you know, like movies and popular songs and
- 14:52Speaker 4: like you know, culture, it was actually at the time
- 14:59Speaker 4: people I didn't love it, and that is it took me,
- 15:04Speaker 4: you know, twelve hours of that lecture to sort of
- 15:09Speaker 4: put that together.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I imagine you're so a little bit in denial.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I learned about, you know, how they
- 15:15Speaker 4: blamed the Jews.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I learned.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Just all sorts of awful, awful things about how there's
- 15:24Speaker 4: even some some people think there was more than the
- 15:28Speaker 4: plague going on, that there was anthrax.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Or you know, anthrags.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Yeah, which is I didn't realize is like a naturally
- 15:36Speaker 4: occurring thing, right, It was so so much.
- 15:39Speaker 2: To me like a ninety like a sexy nineties thousands poison.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I thought it was from the nineties.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, anthrugs, Wait is it a bacteria?
- 15:50Speaker 1: I guess I don't know.
- 15:51Speaker 4: I'm saying yes, but I but only because I want
- 15:55Speaker 4: to have an answer for you.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But the truth is I don't. I don't really remember,
- 16:00Speaker 1: like maybe.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And the reason I associate anthrax with like a more
- 16:04Speaker 2: modern thing is well outside of the early thousands scare
- 16:08Speaker 2: is that I think there's like the metal band Anthrax.
- 16:13Speaker 2: It's kind of in the metallica.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Realm, that kind of thing.
- 16:16Speaker 4: So those are my two big associations with anthrax. Some
- 16:21Speaker 4: people slash themselves with urine. Okay, they thought, like the
- 16:27Speaker 4: fumes from urine and like from the latrines would would
- 16:31Speaker 4: like kill the bad plague air.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Right, Well, I mean urine kind of has some medicinal
- 16:38Speaker 2: I mean, don't they tell you to pee on yourself if.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You get your doctor?
- 16:44Speaker 2: I remember he got me up on the table and said, okay,
- 16:47Speaker 2: now just pee, just let it go, let it go,
- 16:50Speaker 2: Let's get the mic on you, and then just start
- 16:52Speaker 2: to pee.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Like I really want to talk about this mole. But okay, yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well I was going to say, I think, I mean,
- 17:01Speaker 2: I could be wrong. If you get stung by a
- 17:03Speaker 2: sting ray, you're supposed to pee pee or someone jellyfish, jellyfish,
- 17:09Speaker 2: that's right. Yes, That's why I've had so many problems
- 17:12Speaker 2: with stingrays.
- 17:14Speaker 4: You're always pissing on yourself after these stingray attacks. Rest
- 17:19Speaker 4: in peace, Steve Irwin, who was coming by? Yeah, which
- 17:23Speaker 4: is I know why you had me on here.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I asked you to come on. Well, you wrote the poem.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, stingray, stingray.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You killed Steve Stingray, Stingray.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I'm relieved you wrote kind of you it's kind of
- 17:38Speaker 2: a hit piece that you wrote. Yeah, you've been waiting
- 17:42Speaker 2: years to finally get this out.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well, speaking of poetry, the lecture on the
- 17:48Speaker 4: plague ended, and then I won't talk about it anymore.
- 17:51Speaker 1: But I need to get my money for I'm happy
- 17:53Speaker 1: to talk about this.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I don't want you to feel like we can't talk
- 17:55Speaker 2: about the great Like the only reason I don't want
- 17:58Speaker 2: to talk about it is because I actually haven't retained
- 18:00Speaker 2: that much information, right, And now you're kind of being
- 18:03Speaker 2: exposed the moment that you tell someone you read something
- 18:06Speaker 2: or have seen something.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Like, oh yeah, it's a fear to get it. Yeah,
- 18:10Speaker 4: I'm terrified. I'm sweating. But it ended with it was
- 18:17Speaker 4: made like in twenty seventeen, so it was pre COVID, right,
- 18:21Speaker 4: But basically she said there are more, bigger, worse plagues coming.
- 18:26Speaker 4: There was even an outbreak of the plague in the
- 18:30Speaker 4: nineties in India and now and then there was a
- 18:34Speaker 4: variant of it that ended up on Madagascar that is
- 18:38Speaker 4: resistant to all antibiotics. But then she for some reason
- 18:44Speaker 4: decided like, oh, well, you know what, but it's not
- 18:48Speaker 4: all bad, Like she had to have like end on
- 18:50Speaker 4: a positive note, and her positive note was if we
- 18:54Speaker 4: hadn't had the plague, Chaucer might not have had benefactors
- 19:02Speaker 4: who came into money because of the plague, So we
- 19:06Speaker 4: might not have had Chaucer. Yeah, so it's like, oh good,
- 19:10Speaker 4: I feel better that there might be some great poetry.
- 19:15Speaker 1: I can't believe.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like there have been several excellent
- 19:21Speaker 2: COVID produced you know, there's the Netflix show, and we're
- 19:25Speaker 2: all grateful for these crown You mean The Crowd was
- 19:29Speaker 2: kind of produced because of COVID.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Actually, speaking of that, I will say and say it,
- 19:37Speaker 2: but I'm just going to say, the one person that
- 19:39Speaker 2: has created anything within this pandemic worth watching, and I'm
- 19:44Speaker 2: so glad you're here is you. And you produce it
- 19:47Speaker 2: very fast. When you put you made your special like
- 19:52Speaker 2: late April of last year or something. Yeah, yeah, so
- 19:56Speaker 2: we were like a month into the pandemic and you
- 19:58Speaker 2: had like a.
- 20:00Speaker 4: One opportunity, and I said, here we go. This is
- 20:04Speaker 4: going to be it, and I this is going to
- 20:09Speaker 4: launch me into the stratosphere. And lo and behold, a
- 20:14Speaker 4: few people have watched it and it have been very
- 20:17Speaker 4: nice about it.
- 20:18Speaker 2: It is the only only thing that has been producing
- 20:21Speaker 2: the last year in COVID conditions that I think is
- 20:24Speaker 2: worth consuming.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Thanks Bragerie.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not just saying if the listener has
- 20:30Speaker 2: not seen help, I'm stuck. Yeah, it's an absolute I've
- 20:33Speaker 2: seen it twice now, and I mean I had seen
- 20:37Speaker 2: the live show, which is wonderful, but it translated so
- 20:39Speaker 2: well to you've shot on like an iPhone camera or something, right, Yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 2: had you been planning on doing it or was it
- 20:46Speaker 2: just like I'm bored?
- 20:47Speaker 4: And it was like, I really I did the live
- 20:50Speaker 4: show and I wanted I hoped it would be made
- 20:55Speaker 4: into a special, but then nobody wanted it. And also, well,
- 21:00Speaker 4: you know, people don't have the best taste, and by
- 21:04Speaker 4: people I mean me. But I always wondered, like, how
- 21:09Speaker 4: would I produce this as a special anyway when so
- 21:13Speaker 4: much of it hinges on the fact that I'm just
- 21:17Speaker 4: alone on stage doing costume changes. Very low stakes, right,
- 21:21Speaker 4: So actually having to do it alone in my apartment
- 21:24Speaker 4: was the perfect like you know, the correct steaks for that.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Right? Was it hard?
- 21:33Speaker 2: It was shooting anything? I mean on any level, it's
- 21:36Speaker 2: difficult and it looks very good.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Oh stop, I think it looks terrible, But I'm still
- 21:42Speaker 4: very pleased with under the conditions, the.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Fact that it was shot by one person, and I
- 21:47Speaker 1: mean sh I edited it. I did everything, my makeup, hair, everything.
- 21:52Speaker 1: How long did it take? Like ten days? Because everything
- 21:56Speaker 1: had been written already, and so then I just sort
- 21:59Speaker 1: of made a schedule and I filmed it all at
- 22:02Speaker 1: night because my neighbors are loud and there's street noise
- 22:06Speaker 1: because I live in New York.
- 22:07Speaker 2: So yeah, And did it ever feel like it was?
- 22:10Speaker 2: Did you feel like, oh I should just stop? I
- 22:12Speaker 2: feel like after two days of that, I'm like, never mind,
- 22:15Speaker 2: I'm not Now.
- 22:16Speaker 1: When I start doing something, I'm too afraid to stop.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I'm afraid. I'm afraid of stopping anything right right.
- 22:24Speaker 4: I'm afraid to stop talking right now because what if
- 22:28Speaker 4: I die?
- 22:29Speaker 1: You know that sort of thing.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I'm just going to sit in silence for about Oh God,
- 22:34Speaker 2: it's kind you a little pelican cutting board?
- 22:36Speaker 1: Oh it is.
- 22:37Speaker 2: It's a little I bought that at a thrift store
- 22:41Speaker 2: in Utah called Deseret Industries and maybe two thousand and two.
- 22:47Speaker 2: It's just like, I don't I really love it. It's
- 22:49Speaker 2: like a piece of art of a pelican that somebody
- 22:52Speaker 2: made it. I think it's called someone signed the name
- 22:55Speaker 2: Scoota or something in the bottom corner, and I've never
- 22:59Speaker 2: known where it came from or.
- 23:01Speaker 1: What was the point for the for the listeners.
- 23:03Speaker 4: When you post this episode, will you also post a
- 23:06Speaker 4: photo of that cutting course, so that of the course
- 23:10Speaker 4: I have something to, you know, look forward to a
- 23:13Speaker 4: companion piece.
- 23:15Speaker 2: That we have to They will see that. It's like
- 23:18Speaker 2: a weird fabric. It's not a cutting board. It's like
- 23:20Speaker 2: someone painted on a piece of fabric. And I really
- 23:23Speaker 2: appreciate it. I either stole it or paid very little
- 23:28Speaker 2: for it. There was a period when I did a
- 23:29Speaker 2: decent amount of shoplifting, and but that I feel like
- 23:34Speaker 2: it was.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Too big too. What do you do to get that rush? Now?
- 23:37Speaker 2: I consider shoplifting? Oh, okay, Occasionally I'll be in a store. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 2: I haven't shoplifted since I was a teenager, But occasional
- 23:45Speaker 2: I'll be like, what if I just stole this right now?
- 23:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 23:48Speaker 2: And then I think, and then what happens when everyone
- 23:50Speaker 2: finds out that I've been arrested for shoplifting?
- 23:53Speaker 1: Right? Have you ever shoplifted? No? Have you ever been tempted? No?
- 23:59Speaker 4: I'm too aared of that. I'm even afraid of people
- 24:03Speaker 4: thinking I'm shoplifting. So if I'm like and I always
- 24:07Speaker 4: try to make my presence known at a store, if
- 24:10Speaker 4: there's a camera in the store, I like sort of
- 24:14Speaker 4: acknowledge it, and I'm very careful with how I hold
- 24:16Speaker 4: my items, like yes, I look at the camera as
- 24:20Speaker 4: if to say, yes, this toothpaste is going in this basket.
- 24:24Speaker 4: No funny business here, don't worry about me.
- 24:27Speaker 2: But that, to me feels like you're drawing even more
- 24:29Speaker 2: attention to I feel like whoever's watching the security camera
- 24:33Speaker 2: thinks they're trying to pull one over on us.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And well, maybe I don't know, you'd have to, you'd
- 24:38Speaker 1: have to.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Maybe we should well do a part two of this
- 24:42Speaker 4: interview where I go to the rite Aid on the
- 24:45Speaker 4: corner right to speak to the security guards and get
- 24:50Speaker 4: their take.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Now, there was a point, you know, I wander through
- 24:55Speaker 2: a lot of stores. I love wandering through stores and
- 24:57Speaker 2: just looking at objects with that with no intention of buying.
- 25:00Speaker 1: And there was a period that I feel like.
- 25:04Speaker 2: When I first moved to La that I would go
- 25:06Speaker 2: to a seven eleven on occasion just wander around to
- 25:09Speaker 2: just free my mind. And I think the person occasionally
- 25:13Speaker 2: or eventually thought that I was shoplifting and asked me
- 25:16Speaker 2: not to come back, which is probably just what was
- 25:19Speaker 2: happening in my life that I thought seven eleven was
- 25:21Speaker 2: a relaxing place to be.
- 25:23Speaker 4: It's you know, it's familiar. Yeah, it's got to be.
- 25:28Speaker 1: A sort of sterile comfort.
- 25:30Speaker 3: You know.
- 25:31Speaker 4: The air conditioning at a seven eleven is always exquisite, right,
- 25:35Speaker 4: freezing cold, freezing cold, freezing cold. It's like a retirement home,
- 25:43Speaker 4: you know. But I used to hang out at a
- 25:46Speaker 4: pharmacy when I was a little kid, and I got
- 25:48Speaker 4: kicked out for spending too much time there.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Really, yeah, And how old were you when this was happening.
- 25:54Speaker 4: It's like ten, and my friends and I would just
- 25:57Speaker 4: go to this pharmacy and ask people if they needed help,
- 26:03Speaker 4: like finding things.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Did you ever help anyone?
- 26:07Speaker 4: Sometimes sometimes I think people were just humoring us. And right,
- 26:11Speaker 4: we were children. We had nothing to do. It was
- 26:13Speaker 4: so boring, you know, childhood, well cole miserable.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Oh what I don't I don't know. Look, look, okay,
- 26:26Speaker 2: so obviously you're here.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I'm here.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Yes, a few weeks ago you agreed to be on
- 26:32Speaker 2: the podcast. I was so happy. Yeah, yeah, I love
- 26:37Speaker 2: Cole reluctantly. Of course I kind of dragged you into this,
- 26:42Speaker 2: and uh, all that said, it seemed like you were
- 26:46Speaker 2: at least going to play fair and just be here
- 26:49Speaker 2: as a pleasant guest. We would have a nice little
- 26:52Speaker 2: chat and then move on with our lives, hopefully never
- 26:54Speaker 2: see each other again. Yeah. And then a couple nights
- 27:00Speaker 2: to go, the doorbell rang. Yeah, I believe it was night. Wow,
- 27:05Speaker 2: believe Uh, which is frightening for any purpose. Sure, we
- 27:11Speaker 2: don't have a lot of visitors. And I opened the
- 27:15Speaker 2: door and there was a box there, large square box
- 27:19Speaker 2: addressed to me, uh return address on No, I mean,
- 27:24Speaker 2: not unknown, but from Williams Sonoma. I had not ordered
- 27:28Speaker 2: anything from Williams Sonoma. Love william Sonoma. I have never
- 27:32Speaker 2: purchased anything there because it's a little above my you know.
- 27:35Speaker 2: It's more of a going and brows and dream of
- 27:38Speaker 2: a life of the Williams Sonoma shopper, right, see the
- 27:43Speaker 2: latest novelty, that kind of thing. So I brought it
- 27:46Speaker 2: in and my mind started circling what possibilities this could have,
- 27:53Speaker 2: where this could have possibly come from, And then it
- 27:55Speaker 2: occurred to me Cole as the last person I contact with.
- 28:02Speaker 2: They've got my address, and obviously I I don't know.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I was.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I was a little broken up about it. And now
- 28:10Speaker 2: I'm just going to ask you. Okay, this podcast is
- 28:13Speaker 2: called I said no gifts, and I have to assume
- 28:18Speaker 2: I opened the box and there was a gift wrapped box.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Is this a gift for me? Yes? Okay? Should I
- 28:28Speaker 1: open it here on the podcast?
- 28:31Speaker 4: Yeah? You should open it and then I'll explain. I
- 28:34Speaker 4: know you said no gifts, and I respect that boundary.
- 28:38Speaker 4: But once once you open it, I can explain and
- 28:42Speaker 4: hopefully it'll make sense.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Okay, and you'll understand why I had to.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Okay, for the listener, this is a heavy white box,
- 28:57Speaker 2: maybe the heaviest gift on this podcast so far, I
- 29:00Speaker 2: would hope.
- 29:00Speaker 1: So you left you give gifts by weight. Yeah, oh yeah,
- 29:06Speaker 1: Let's just open it up here and see what happens.
- 29:08Speaker 1: This looks like a beautiful wedding gift if I were
- 29:11Speaker 1: ever to get married. This is how it would feel like. Right,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I think that's probably what what these things are usually.
- 29:17Speaker 1: And keep going, keep right right.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I'm not gonna I'm going to keep my eyes away
- 29:22Speaker 2: from the box.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Until completely open, kind of do a doing my best
- 29:31Speaker 1: to keep it a complete surprise. Oh my god. Yeah,
- 29:41Speaker 1: this is a beautiful waffle maker. Yeah, a vertical waffle maker,
- 29:47Speaker 1: which a vertical waffle maker I'm not even familiar with. Well,
- 29:51Speaker 1: the reason that I got it for you is because
- 29:53Speaker 1: I've been having this recurring nightmare of you making waffles
- 30:01Speaker 1: and just getting waffle batter everywhere because it's hard with
- 30:07Speaker 1: a regular waffle iron. You pour the batter on and
- 30:09Speaker 1: it usually spills over the sides. Yes, And I just
- 30:13Speaker 1: I keep waking up in a cold sweat because I'm
- 30:18Speaker 1: I just see you just waffle batter everywhere, just a disaster,
- 30:23Speaker 1: and you're cleaning it up and then the waffle's burning,
- 30:26Speaker 1: and like you know, it happened once, And I thought, oh,
- 30:29Speaker 1: that's a weird dream. Sure after six years.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Pretty consistently every night of dreaming, and I've known you
- 30:39Speaker 4: like what three right?
- 30:41Speaker 1: So yeah, and I was probably a kind of a
- 30:43Speaker 1: stranger in a dream.
- 30:44Speaker 5: Initially, Yeah, absolutely, I was like, well, that's weird.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Why would I dream about that? Just yeah, So I
- 30:54Speaker 4: found this on the Williams Norma website. It's a vertical
- 30:58Speaker 4: waffle maker. You poor the batter in on top so
- 31:02Speaker 4: that it doesn't spill out the sides.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, you can then kind of like a coin
- 31:09Speaker 1: slot almost, yes.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Exactly, and then you know, when it's done, you can
- 31:16Speaker 4: open it up and the waffle comes out.
- 31:18Speaker 1: And you do you own one of these? No? You don't.
- 31:22Speaker 2: No, it's just this dream where that's kind of just
- 31:24Speaker 2: been this image of the waffle maker for that.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Kind of thing. I would hate to own something like that.
- 31:30Speaker 1: But I thought, if I want to sleep tonight or
- 31:36Speaker 1: any night, I need to make this. I need to
- 31:39Speaker 1: fix this. Right.
- 31:40Speaker 2: It's hard to say what effect this is going to
- 31:43Speaker 2: have on your dreams moving forward, whether it will continue,
- 31:46Speaker 2: and maybe a new element will be introduced to the dream.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I mean, God knows what message I was trying to
- 31:53Speaker 2: get through to you or whoever's places dream in your.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Head, right, yeah?
- 31:58Speaker 2: I mean, were there any other elements of the dream
- 32:00Speaker 2: that you could remember? Or is it I just remember
- 32:04Speaker 2: hating you so much? And then when I met you,
- 32:09Speaker 2: I remember I hated you, and I was like, why
- 32:11Speaker 2: do I hate Why do I hate him?
- 32:13Speaker 4: We've never met before, And then I was like, oh,
- 32:16Speaker 4: it's the dream.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I hate him because of the dream.
- 32:20Speaker 4: And then eventually I sort of was able to separate
- 32:23Speaker 4: the you know, the nightmare from right, the nightmare.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Right and now reality you're just a strong dislike yes, yeah,
- 32:33Speaker 2: and the dream continues, I imagine it.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Is it an increasing hatred or just kind of a baseline, Well.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Now it's sort of comforting, you know, it's a comforting hatred.
- 32:44Speaker 1: It's toxic. It's a codependent hatred, you know.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and that one without that hatred, I mean, you're
- 32:54Speaker 2: going to be completely off balanced.
- 32:56Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 32:57Speaker 4: I mean that's I need something to break up the
- 33:00Speaker 4: monotony of you know, this pandemic life. So maybe not
- 33:06Speaker 4: hating you could be just what I need shake things up.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Do you own the waffle maker of any type? I
- 33:15Speaker 1: don't want to like a waffle.
- 33:17Speaker 4: I love a waffle, but I would never I don't
- 33:22Speaker 4: have a lot of counter space, you know. I live
- 33:24Speaker 4: in New York, right, I already have a kitchen aid mixer,
- 33:27Speaker 4: I have a Vita mix I have a toaster, my
- 33:30Speaker 4: like crsee I have. You know, There's just there's no
- 33:33Speaker 4: counter space. There's no cabinet space, you know, right, what
- 33:37Speaker 4: are you.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Making in your kitchen aid? So far?
- 33:41Speaker 4: I have only made one batch of cookies. And when
- 33:47Speaker 4: was that? That was like two months ago? Oh okay,
- 33:51Speaker 4: so recently. This is a new question. But I bought
- 33:54Speaker 4: the kitchen Aid mixer like six months ago and I've
- 33:57Speaker 4: used it once. How was your I realized in the
- 34:02Speaker 4: for this exact cookie recipe it would have been easier
- 34:05Speaker 4: to mix my hand. Actually, it was just like a
- 34:10Speaker 4: simple chocolate chip recipe, oatmeal chocolate chip recipe, and.
- 34:15Speaker 1: There was just no need for the mixer. But I
- 34:18Speaker 1: think a mixer mikes the butter up.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Sorry, this is for the listeners who are falling asleep
- 34:23Speaker 4: their cars.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay.
- 34:27Speaker 2: The listener loves a cookie recipe discussion. Okay, who doesn't.
- 34:31Speaker 2: If somebody has a problem with that, I don't know.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I don't know what to tell anyone.
- 34:38Speaker 1: That's fair. Oh so it was a you. It felt
- 34:41Speaker 1: like overkill for you. Yeah.
- 34:43Speaker 4: I bought it originally because I wanted the like I
- 34:47Speaker 4: made merangue once and like a vegan meringue, and my
- 34:54Speaker 4: hands and arms hurt so much.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I thought, you know what I need to do.
- 34:59Speaker 4: I need to spend hundreds of dollars to make sure
- 35:01Speaker 4: I never feel this pain. In three years when I
- 35:04Speaker 4: make this thing again, but I need to spend it
- 35:08Speaker 4: right now.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Do you think you'll make vegan moraine again?
- 35:12Speaker 4: Maybe it's just not fun to make stuff for myself,
- 35:17Speaker 4: you know what I mean? Right, Like, maybe when I
- 35:20Speaker 4: can see people again. The fun of making things for
- 35:23Speaker 4: me is people being like, oh my.
- 35:26Speaker 1: God, you know, I can't believe you were able to.
- 35:30Speaker 4: Yeah, sorry, I had extra you know, I would have
- 35:35Speaker 4: made this nice for just me, but I thought, why
- 35:37Speaker 4: not bring it?
- 35:38Speaker 3: Well?
- 35:39Speaker 2: I think a kitchen aid is also just kind of
- 35:41Speaker 2: nice looking. It's just a nice thing to have on
- 35:43Speaker 2: your counter, right, Yeah, absolutely, It's a status symbol. And
- 35:47Speaker 2: I grew up, you know, poor trashy.
- 35:51Speaker 4: I say, like I was Niles Crane, like a young
- 35:56Speaker 4: Niles Crane, but in Roseanne's house, you know.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Right, that makes perfect sense. Yeah.
- 36:03Speaker 4: So I just always, you know, wanted things like a
- 36:08Speaker 4: KitchenAid mixer or to listen to NPR, right of course.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Yeah, And so I'm sorry to hear you've only used
- 36:17Speaker 2: the kitchen aid once. Do you feel like you got
- 36:19Speaker 2: it kind of burned you and you're just not going
- 36:20Speaker 2: to go back to it.
- 36:22Speaker 1: I really just hate washing things, and you know, in
- 36:27Speaker 1: New York.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Do you have a dishwasher? Do you have a dishwasher?
- 36:30Speaker 4: But you know those things aren't dishwashed. You know they're
- 36:32Speaker 4: supposed to be hand washed. You know, the bowl, the bowl,
- 36:35Speaker 4: I think so yeah, the metal book.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I don't know that I'll go through the dishwasher three
- 36:40Speaker 1: times a week. I mean, maybe it's about it. Maybe
- 36:42Speaker 1: that's why that mole is getting so much bigger.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Every time I wash it, I feel kind of a
- 36:47Speaker 2: pulse in my leg and I just the heat radiating down.
- 36:53Speaker 2: But I've just ignored it. But it's worth it. If
- 36:56Speaker 2: it saves me an extra ten minutes, I mean, turning into.
- 37:00Speaker 1: A monster, maybe I will cool. You can absolutely.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Maybe this is just the Kitchen Aid Hotline podcast at
- 37:08Speaker 2: this point, but I hope so. I mean, I can
- 37:11Speaker 2: tell you I recently had a problem. It wasn't mine
- 37:13Speaker 2: wasn't mixing correctly.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I looked it up. You have to drop a.
- 37:15Speaker 2: Dime in the bowl and mix it around, and if
- 37:19Speaker 2: the dime does it's this weird old trick that like,
- 37:22Speaker 2: if the mixer doesn't move the dime enough, it means
- 37:24Speaker 2: it's not adjusted properly. I know a lot about a
- 37:27Speaker 2: kitchen Aid mixer.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Wow, is this like some secret blog like like KitchenAid.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Queen's like like, listen, honey, we've been around, Like I
- 37:36Speaker 1: love those kinds of It's everywhere, Okay.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I think like literally, Kitchen Aid, I think like the
- 37:41Speaker 2: company line is like, well, if it's not mixing properly
- 37:44Speaker 2: put it for whatever reason. A dime is the exact
- 37:48Speaker 2: object that you need at the bottom of the bowl
- 37:50Speaker 2: to make sure it's correct.
- 37:53Speaker 4: That's nickel erase chair. That is total? Do you book
- 38:00Speaker 4: much at home?
- 38:01Speaker 1: I like to bake. I like baking.
- 38:05Speaker 4: It's prettier, you know, you get like a pretty thing
- 38:07Speaker 4: at the end. And there's too much intuition in cooking,
- 38:10Speaker 4: and I don't trust my intuition.
- 38:13Speaker 1: What do you like to bake them?
- 38:15Speaker 4: Well, I'm vegan I and so I make a lot
- 38:18Speaker 4: of just like vegan things.
- 38:21Speaker 1: And I made a.
- 38:24Speaker 4: Key lime cake with Italian meringue butter cream frosting.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Oh that sounds incredible and like a.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Gram cracker cream cheese filling. It was way too sweet.
- 38:35Speaker 4: It was too much. Oh okay, sure, Like that wasn't
- 38:38Speaker 4: the recipe at all. I just sort of imagined like, oh,
- 38:41Speaker 4: this would be I bet this would be amazing.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Did it look nice? It looked great, It looked great.
- 38:46Speaker 4: It took me two days to make it because I
- 38:48Speaker 4: had to repeat every step twice because I've you know,
- 38:51Speaker 4: messed something up every step along the way, like the
- 38:55Speaker 4: temperature of the sugar for the meringue, you know, using
- 39:03Speaker 4: the wrong amount of flower, you know that sort of thing.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Did you in high school have cooking classes or that
- 39:11Speaker 2: sort of thing?
- 39:11Speaker 1: You didn't, did you?
- 39:13Speaker 2: I took so many cooking I mean it was essentially
- 39:16Speaker 2: I think it was just a failure of the Utah
- 39:19Speaker 2: public school system that I think I took a foods
- 39:22Speaker 2: they were called foods classes. I would take one of
- 39:24Speaker 2: probably every semester and learned absolutely nothing.
- 39:28Speaker 4: Hollmeck was gone by the time I got to high school.
- 39:31Speaker 4: There was wood shop. I had to make a bird house.
- 39:35Speaker 4: But some this guy, Branden Lever, who came from a
- 39:39Speaker 4: very big Apostolic Lutheran family, made the birdhouse for me,
- 39:44Speaker 4: and that was a sexual awakening for me.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Of course. It was I was like, why do I
- 39:50Speaker 1: love that he's making my birdhouse for me?
- 39:53Speaker 3: Like?
- 39:54Speaker 1: Why do I why is my face read from this? Yeah?
- 39:58Speaker 1: Did you take other elect classes in high school? Just
- 40:01Speaker 1: like I took a children's theater class, a children's theater class. Well,
- 40:07Speaker 1: this was like in a bigger school that I transferred
- 40:10Speaker 1: to my junior year, and there.
- 40:11Speaker 4: Was like a theater class that was right before lunch
- 40:15Speaker 4: and we would take a children's story, improvise a show,
- 40:21Speaker 4: said it, and then during lunch we took the show
- 40:24Speaker 4: to different grade schools.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Oh, that's wonderful. Yeah, it's very sweet.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I loved it. I felt like, well, we're on tour.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Now, right, And I'm sure the elementary schoolers looked at
- 40:34Speaker 1: you as a star.
- 40:36Speaker 4: I don't remember like the audience reaction. I just remember
- 40:39Speaker 4: feeling so glad, like rushing to eat my food before
- 40:43Speaker 4: class because like I had just performed, and it felt
- 40:45Speaker 4: so like God, no time to eat because we just
- 40:49Speaker 4: we just did two shows, you know what I mean?
- 40:53Speaker 4: Was there feeling put upon?
- 40:55Speaker 2: Was there like any inter class drama or anything where
- 41:00Speaker 2: someone that felt there was a star or someone wasn't
- 41:02Speaker 2: pulling their weight.
- 41:03Speaker 1: There was a murder right outside of the death. Outside
- 41:08Speaker 1: of the death. No, everyone got along.
- 41:12Speaker 4: It was like fun, And that might have been like
- 41:15Speaker 4: the best experience I've ever had in a school setting. Wow,
- 41:19Speaker 4: aside from Brandon Lever making my God bless yeah, God.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Bless him. God. I wonder where he is dead.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Do you think the murder you had kind of pulled
- 41:33Speaker 2: him into the class with promise of touring elementary schools.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I said, look, you're gonna you're gonna be huge, to
- 41:41Speaker 1: make you a star. A star. This waffle maker is wonderful.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I have a a regular one, a regular waffle maker
- 41:51Speaker 1: which I have kind of converted into just a well
- 41:54Speaker 1: it's no longer a waffle maker because I just use
- 41:56Speaker 1: it to reheat regular I'm essentially using it as panini
- 42:00Speaker 1: press or like when I left over pizza or whatever,
- 42:03Speaker 1: I throw it in there, which I can't recommend.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Enough into a waffle iron. It's fantastic. It's the only
- 42:09Speaker 2: way I'll ever reheat, at least pizza. You basically fold
- 42:12Speaker 2: it into a sandwich and burn it.
- 42:15Speaker 5: You do you do you have a toaster oven. I
- 42:18Speaker 5: don't have a toaster oven. Okay, yeah, neither do I.
- 42:20Speaker 5: But if I did, that's how I would reheat pizza.
- 42:23Speaker 5: So it doesn't not As.
- 42:25Speaker 4: For anyone who was wondering, maybe tease that at the
- 42:30Speaker 4: top of the episode, when you're like hear what Cole's
- 42:33Speaker 4: preferred method of reheating pizza is.
- 42:37Speaker 1: After the break, After the break, we finally get to cold.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I know my current waffle iron is not just
- 42:45Speaker 2: full of pizza grease most of the time. I guess
- 42:49Speaker 2: I washed that in the sink. I don't know that
- 42:51Speaker 2: you're even supposed to wash a waffle maker.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I think you probably should, right, but.
- 42:57Speaker 2: It feels like, you know, kind of an electronic device
- 42:59Speaker 2: that I dropping the sink and suddenly I'm splashing water
- 43:02Speaker 2: all over it, and how do you dry it out?
- 43:04Speaker 1: This kind of like how to clean a cast iron skillet? Right?
- 43:08Speaker 1: Do you have a cast iron skillet? I do? But
- 43:11Speaker 1: do you use it?
- 43:12Speaker 4: I don't because I'm so anal about the cleaning of it,
- 43:17Speaker 4: like re seasoning it. And it's like, why bother making
- 43:21Speaker 4: something in it if it's going to take me four
- 43:24Speaker 4: hours afterwards to you know, re season it and make
- 43:27Speaker 4: sure it has that gorgeous sheen on top.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Have you ever made anything in it? My boyfriend made
- 43:34Speaker 1: pancakes in it once.
- 43:37Speaker 4: And then I passed it aggressively, was like, well, no,
- 43:39Speaker 4: I have to clean it.
- 43:42Speaker 3: You know.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Those to me, just the like getting into it, it
- 43:47Speaker 2: seems like a giant challenge, the seasoning all of this.
- 43:50Speaker 1: It doesn't. I don't know that that's for me. It
- 43:52Speaker 1: feels like a full lifestyle. You have to accept.
- 43:55Speaker 4: It's a religion. Ultimately, it's a religion. Ultimately it's for
- 44:02Speaker 4: people who need God and.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Then they find them and they find Yeah.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Cool.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I feel like it's time to play a game. Okay,
- 44:09Speaker 2: do you want to play a game called Tic tac toe?
- 44:13Speaker 2: Or we could do a crossword puzzle or word search.
- 44:17Speaker 2: I'll just hold it up to the zoom and we'll
- 44:19Speaker 2: just quietly say what I see right. No, do you
- 44:24Speaker 2: want to play a game called gift Master or gift
- 44:27Speaker 2: or a Curse.
- 44:28Speaker 1: I'll play gift Master.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Okay, I need a number between one and ten seven. Okay,
- 44:34Speaker 2: for a minute, I have to do some calculating. So
- 44:37Speaker 2: you're going to have the microphone. You can promote something,
- 44:39Speaker 2: you can recommend something, you can do whatever you want.
- 44:42Speaker 2: I don't care. I'll be right back.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Hello. Do you want to make more money?
- 44:48Speaker 3: Sure?
- 44:48Speaker 1: We all do. Do you guys remember that commercial with
- 44:51Speaker 1: Sally Struthers. I'm going to do some free association here
- 44:56Speaker 1: on Norman Lear. There were a lot of shows when
- 45:02Speaker 1: I was a child, especially Norman Lear shows that had
- 45:06Speaker 1: a sort of orange yellowy brown. I think because they
- 45:10Speaker 1: were shot on film, but they really I really didn't
- 45:14Speaker 1: like them. Watching them, I could smell cigarette smoke and
- 45:18Speaker 1: I really, I just I didn't like it. This is
- 45:22Speaker 1: the same reason I didn't like Roseanne. It was like,
- 45:24Speaker 1: this is my life, Why do I want to see
- 45:26Speaker 1: this reflected back at me. I was much more into,
- 45:30Speaker 1: you know, something aspirational like Sybil, which apparently and I
- 45:34Speaker 1: don't know if Sybil Shepherd or Christine Baranski will ever
- 45:39Speaker 1: be guests on this podcast, but apparently they did not
- 45:44Speaker 1: get along at all.
- 45:46Speaker 4: And that is hard for me because I would like
- 45:49Speaker 4: to imagine that they were friends.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Oh are we kind of I kind of want you
- 45:56Speaker 2: to just continue talking for a while. No, No, I
- 45:59Speaker 2: think I think I'm done. I think I've said what
- 46:02Speaker 2: I needed to say, half heard whatever was happening, and
- 46:05Speaker 2: I support everything you were saying.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Great, thank you.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Sybil Shepherd is becoming kind of a recurring theme on
- 46:12Speaker 2: this podcast because I made that Shepherd mouse pad, or
- 46:16Speaker 2: I did, and she sent it to me, and that's
- 46:21Speaker 2: neither here nor there.
- 46:22Speaker 1: We need to play the game okay.
- 46:24Speaker 2: But also just excellent use of that time. This is
- 46:27Speaker 2: how this game works. I'm going to tell you three
- 46:30Speaker 2: potential gifts things you're going to give to people, and
- 46:32Speaker 2: then three celebrities or famous people, and you're going to
- 46:36Speaker 2: tell me which gift you'll give which person and why
- 46:38Speaker 2: does that make any sense?
- 46:40Speaker 1: Yes? Okay? Perfect? These are the three gifts that you'll
- 46:43Speaker 1: be giving. Okay.
- 46:45Speaker 2: Number one is a trip to White Sands National Monument.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Now I believe it's New Mexico.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 46:54Speaker 2: It came across my desk because I feel like a
- 46:57Speaker 2: lot of people post about it on Instagram's you know,
- 47:00Speaker 2: sand Dune's White Sand Picturesque. That's what you're dealing with there.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Number two is homemade fudge. Homemade fudge like that I made, yes, okay,
- 47:12Speaker 2: And finally, guitar lessons. Those are the three gifts can
- 47:15Speaker 2: you'll be giving two?
- 47:17Speaker 1: Let me find them.
- 47:18Speaker 2: I'm getting slightly better at this. Sometimes I struggle, sometimes
- 47:21Speaker 2: I nail it, okay. Number one this is two people.
- 47:25Speaker 2: This is Derek and Julianne Huff.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 47:28Speaker 2: They're the brothers sister team on Dancing with the Stars.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Number two is celebrity chef Bobby Flay and number three
- 47:38Speaker 2: this I don't know how many people. This is the
- 47:41Speaker 2: Sackler family now, right, kind of the family behind the
- 47:46Speaker 2: opioid crisis. Yes, of the I believe Purdue Pharmaceutical. Yeah, well, okay, yes,
- 47:55Speaker 2: so go ahead immediately, I'm poisoning that fudge and giving
- 47:59Speaker 2: it to the Sackler.
- 48:01Speaker 1: It's coming from my heart. That's lazier focused, I love.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:06Speaker 4: Oh, poisoning them, by the way, with an overdose of
- 48:09Speaker 4: the opioids that they produce or finance. Okay, so we
- 48:16Speaker 4: have Bobby Flay. Hmm, okay. The last thing I want
- 48:25Speaker 4: is either of them playing like Derek and Juliana. I
- 48:30Speaker 4: don't want them. I feel like the Juliana maybe play
- 48:35Speaker 4: is Julianna or Juliana Julianne Julianne Juliana makes more sense. Yeah,
- 48:41Speaker 4: it does, but I'm not I'll talk to her about
- 48:44Speaker 4: it afterwards.
- 48:45Speaker 1: For now, get on the phone. Oh yeah, Julianne, I
- 48:51Speaker 1: feel like already plays the guitar. Oh, that sounds right, interesting,
- 48:57Speaker 1: So maybe I would give her.
- 48:59Speaker 4: I would give them the guitar lessons as a sort
- 49:01Speaker 4: of passive aggressive way of saying, like, keep trying babe,
- 49:08Speaker 4: and then Bobby Flay sort of seems a little like, uh,
- 49:14Speaker 4: what are the humors? I learned about this in the
- 49:17Speaker 4: plague lecture, Like there's like yellow like bile, and then
- 49:22Speaker 4: there's like he's whichever one is like cold and flemy
- 49:26Speaker 4: and probably needs to be in like an arid climate
- 49:31Speaker 4: for his health kind of like write out almost.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so I would. I would send him there.
- 49:38Speaker 2: I think that's an excellent I mean, if you, If
- 49:42Speaker 2: not you, someone should be sending that poison fudge to
- 49:45Speaker 2: the same I hope.
- 49:46Speaker 1: So somebody's got to get them. I hope it's Julian Huff.
- 49:50Speaker 1: I hope she sends you. Hope. I hope she sends
- 49:53Speaker 1: poison fudge to the Sackler family. I would if I
- 49:56Speaker 1: woke up to.
- 49:56Speaker 4: That headline tomorrow, I would kill myself because of get
- 50:00Speaker 4: any better than there.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Was absolutely nothing better than that Juliane becoming an unexpected
- 50:06Speaker 1: kind of hero.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, kind of on this mission of revenge on
- 50:12Speaker 2: behalf of America, of the world of the world. Yeah,
- 50:16Speaker 2: well that's wonderful. Do you give Do you like giving gifts?
- 50:19Speaker 4: I do like giving gifts. Yeah, you know what I do?
- 50:24Speaker 5: You know that finally, Yeah, fuck you, I like I
- 50:28Speaker 5: like giving gifts.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I don't care what you think. Yeah, I do like it.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Do you give unexpected gifts or just on occasions?
- 50:40Speaker 1: I'm trying.
- 50:41Speaker 4: You know who's the best gift giver is Amy Sedaris,
- 50:45Speaker 4: and she gives like gifts at random times. If she
- 50:51Speaker 4: sees something that makes her think of you, right, she'll
- 50:55Speaker 4: send people things. And I really like that, and so
- 50:59Speaker 4: I've tried too, or it sort of inspired me.
- 51:02Speaker 1: To just keep my eye out for things, like.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Just to be thinking of other people while you're out
- 51:08Speaker 2: in the world.
- 51:09Speaker 4: But I still mostly just give gifts for you know, housewarming, right,
- 51:15Speaker 4: you know, birthdays.
- 51:17Speaker 1: I love bringing toilet paper. Is that true? Yeah? Because
- 51:20Speaker 1: who doesn't need it?
- 51:21Speaker 3: You know?
- 51:22Speaker 2: Right, It's just a thing. It's very practical. Yeah, we'll
- 51:25Speaker 2: always be used. Is there have you given any type
- 51:28Speaker 2: of gift that you've been particularly proud of?
- 51:30Speaker 1: Oh?
- 51:30Speaker 4: Well, the best gift was I got a Toto washlet
- 51:35Speaker 4: you know, like those little bidet toilet seats. Oh sure,
- 51:39Speaker 4: that are like heated to my mother for Christmas, and
- 51:43Speaker 4: that's wonderful.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Did she like it? She used to ray.
- 51:47Speaker 4: My aunt had one, and she would just always rave
- 51:51Speaker 4: about it, Like for ten years she would talk about like,
- 51:55Speaker 4: oh my god, that toilet seat, and so I finally
- 51:58Speaker 4: got I got it for her, and I don't think
- 52:00Speaker 4: I can ever top that, at least to her.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and has Amy Sidaria's given you anything good? I mean,
- 52:07Speaker 2: like what anything exciting?
- 52:10Speaker 4: She gave me a portrait of me as chassis painted
- 52:14Speaker 4: by David's husband Hugh Hamrick.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's incredible. Yeah.
- 52:19Speaker 4: She gave me this letter that Joan Crawford sent to someone. Yeah,
- 52:27Speaker 4: she just sends me thus are beautiful gifts. Yeah, yeah,
- 52:31Speaker 4: sends me acep soaps and lotions lovely.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:36Speaker 2: I mean, listener, if you haven't seen At Home with
- 52:38Speaker 2: Amy Sidaris, obviously, Amy Sidaris.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Is very funny and a bit cold. It's also extraordinary. Thanks.
- 52:44Speaker 2: You didn't use your time to promote anything. I'm not
- 52:47Speaker 2: anything to promote pp matter. That's another thing, another thing
- 52:50Speaker 2: people should look up years ago.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Thanks? Thanks? Is that years? That feels recent? Two three?
- 52:57Speaker 1: I don't know nothing matters anymore.
- 52:59Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Okay, we played the game and then we got into
- 53:03Speaker 2: another thing. We have to answer a listener question. Yes,
- 53:06Speaker 2: this is called I said no emails people are writing
- 53:09Speaker 2: into I said no gifts at gmail dot com. They
- 53:11Speaker 2: have just various issues. Let's see if we can answer
- 53:15Speaker 2: something here one moment. Okay, this says, Hello Bridger and
- 53:21Speaker 2: insightful guest. I'm in the process of purchasing my first
- 53:24Speaker 2: home and my parents are graciously loaning me a part
- 53:28Speaker 2: of my down payment. This is a true loan plus
- 53:32Speaker 2: interest that I will be paying them back for in full.
- 53:35Speaker 2: I'd like to get them something that says thank you
- 53:37Speaker 2: without spending too much because they are loaning me the money.
- 53:42Speaker 2: After all. My parents are semi retired, have three small
- 53:45Speaker 2: rescue dogs, a cat, and a chicken. They mostly hang
- 53:49Speaker 2: out of their suburban home, don't drink much, and prefer
- 53:52Speaker 2: to be working in the yard when it's warm outside
- 53:54Speaker 2: with all the animals. Can you give me some ideas
- 53:57Speaker 2: for an appreciation gift that are one easy on the
- 54:01Speaker 2: wallet and two aren't tacky or overplayed? And thanks? Ashley
- 54:06Speaker 2: in Dallas. Okay, So Ashley's parents are, as far as
- 54:10Speaker 2: I can tell, predatory lenders. I don't it seems like
- 54:16Speaker 2: someone has just found herself. She's tangled up in something
- 54:20Speaker 2: that's going to only become worse. Yeah, and she wants
- 54:23Speaker 2: to give them a gift.
- 54:25Speaker 4: This is like PhD level gift giving because it's like,
- 54:30Speaker 4: what do you get for someone who's loaning you money?
- 54:33Speaker 4: That's because you know, you get something too expensive. It's
- 54:37Speaker 4: like what do you do?
- 54:38Speaker 1: Like, right, that money could be going towards the Yeah.
- 54:41Speaker 4: Yeah, so but I understand, you know, wanting to a
- 54:50Speaker 4: gesture a gesture.
- 54:53Speaker 2: Right, what we're looking at here, and then also we're
- 54:57Speaker 2: getting details like there's a chicken, which I don't know that.
- 55:02Speaker 2: You know, it's the complication here is what do you
- 55:05Speaker 2: get your banker.
- 55:06Speaker 1: I don't. I'm not in the habit of giving my
- 55:08Speaker 1: banker a gift, right.
- 55:11Speaker 2: But mom and dad have apparently some level of money yea.
- 55:16Speaker 2: And but look, she's moving into a house. This is
- 55:20Speaker 2: what I think is. It's making a nice dinner and
- 55:23Speaker 2: having them over, kind of like kids made dinner and
- 55:27Speaker 2: mom and dad are going to.
- 55:28Speaker 4: Have I was going to say, it sounds like, you know,
- 55:30Speaker 4: maybe I don't know what the travel situation is. Maybe
- 55:33Speaker 4: this house is somewhere on the other side of the country.
- 55:35Speaker 4: They're like, we don't want to travel, right, you know,
- 55:40Speaker 4: maybe they're not you know, maybe they're anti vaxers. Who
- 55:43Speaker 4: don't you know she didn't include any of that information.
- 55:46Speaker 4: I wish, I wish she had. Please respond and Bridger
- 55:51Speaker 4: will update the audience accordingly. I'm kidding he never will.
- 55:56Speaker 4: But I think, honestly, you just have to, like you
- 56:02Speaker 4: have to. It has to be something that you make,
- 56:06Speaker 4: I think, honestly, a thank you card, like a like
- 56:09Speaker 4: a letter, like a like an actually thoughtful letter, an
- 56:13Speaker 4: actually thoughtful letter with some details about their relationship.
- 56:18Speaker 2: Yes, yes, it's nice. I mean, unless she's a terrible writer.
- 56:22Speaker 4: A framed photograph of her in front of the house
- 56:26Speaker 4: not bad, yeah.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Or maybe like a actually I don't know, sen some
- 56:33Speaker 1: dog treats or something, some corn kernels for the chickens.
- 56:37Speaker 1: So what you do is you chicken feed a photo
- 56:40Speaker 1: of you in front of the house in a nice
- 56:42Speaker 1: thank you card, and then if you can fit a
- 56:45Speaker 1: dog one of the little flat little milkbone treats in
- 56:48Speaker 1: the envelope, as well as some corn dried corn for
- 56:53Speaker 1: the chicken, they.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Just end up with a dusty letter, which I'll appreciate it.
- 56:58Speaker 2: I'll have kind of a homie fee A great yeah.
- 57:02Speaker 2: I mean I don't see any that's neither techy nor overplayed. Yeah,
- 57:06Speaker 2: and mom and dad are also going to be getting
- 57:09Speaker 2: a monthly mortgage payment, yes, which maybe there's just a
- 57:13Speaker 2: thoughtful note every time you pay them.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Like hope you're enjoying this interest. I hope you're
- 57:18Speaker 1: enjoying making money off of me as I fall further
- 57:21Speaker 1: and further into debt, just.
- 57:24Speaker 4: Alone on the down payment though, so well, I don't know,
- 57:29Speaker 4: but honestly, like just a photo of you, like so
- 57:33Speaker 4: happy in front of the house. Yeah, I think that's
- 57:36Speaker 4: like perfectly look at how happy I am because of
- 57:39Speaker 4: something you did, and then maybe they'll lower the interest
- 57:43Speaker 4: for you.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that that's all perfectly nice.
- 57:48Speaker 4: Amy had this chapter in her book about entertaining, like
- 57:52Speaker 4: if you have a rich uncle over you, try to
- 57:55Speaker 4: like present very poor so that he'll maybe give you
- 57:59Speaker 4: more money. Like a photograph in front of the house.
- 58:02Speaker 4: Maybe make it make the house look sort of dingy.
- 58:06Speaker 5: Put a tarpa on the window that are sort of
- 58:08Speaker 5: falling apart, you know, maybe get the photo in the
- 58:13Speaker 5: rain without like a rain jacket or something like thank
- 58:17Speaker 5: you so much, like just really dust you know, like
- 58:21Speaker 5: get the envelope dirty, as if maybe you found it
- 58:25Speaker 5: you know.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's great. Maybe try to send it
- 58:30Speaker 2: without a stamp so it's a first returned there's no
- 58:34Speaker 2: money for even for postage at this point, and cover.
- 58:37Speaker 1: It in two cent stamps. Yeah, yeah, I.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Think that's wonderful. That question is could not be more
- 58:46Speaker 2: comprehensively answered.
- 58:48Speaker 1: Can we answer one more? Do you mind? I would
- 58:51Speaker 1: love to something hopefully a little easier. Yeah, maybe not.
- 58:56Speaker 2: I mean we're just going to go to the next
- 58:58Speaker 2: thing here. Okay, this is hybridger and guest. My name
- 59:02Speaker 2: is Bobby, and I need gift advice for my boyfriend's parents.
- 59:05Speaker 2: We've been together for five years and he has five siblings. Okay,
- 59:09Speaker 2: he and his siblings go in together on the gifts
- 59:11Speaker 2: for every holiday and do not include me in their
- 59:14Speaker 2: big presence. Well, this is feeling weird. Let's see. So
- 59:17Speaker 2: I am on my own to buy a Mother's Day,
- 59:19Speaker 2: Father's Day, Birthdays, Christmas. I ran up out of ideas
- 59:23Speaker 2: about three years ago and they have since just been
- 59:26Speaker 2: getting boo I've been getting booze and restaurant gift cards
- 59:28Speaker 2: every holiday. It's getting embarrassing. These people are in their
- 59:31Speaker 2: early fifties, have a lake house and they ride motorcycles.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Please help. And it doesn't look like there's a name there.
- 59:37Speaker 2: That's probably my mistake, probably copying pasting. But this is
- 59:41Speaker 2: now an unknown person. Bobby, Oh, Bobby is at the beginning.
- 59:45Speaker 2: This is a reading reading comprehension problem.
- 59:48Speaker 1: I knew it.
- 59:49Speaker 4: How many eggs are there still in the basket? If
- 59:52Speaker 4: Robby has given way hold on? What do you get
- 59:58Speaker 4: for your d are you?
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I don't get.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Jim's I've never gotten them. I mean maybe that's a
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: problem on my I let him get the presence. Yeah,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: I'm not in charge. He doesn't get my parents anything, right,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I feel like you're just and also there's not this.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: I feel like this is kind of a psychologically complicated
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: thing where the boyfriend and siblings are all going in
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: on these gifts and leaving Bobby out.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: I think it would be up to the boyfriend to
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: be like either say like, hey, can we put my
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: boyfriend's name on this? Or he should help you find like,
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: you know what my parents would like?
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Here's this? Get them? Yeah?
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: I think, I mean, why this person is putting in
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: a lot of energy to these parents. It doesn't make
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: any sense. Yeah, I say, just stop altogether. Although now
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: you've created kind of a pattern that's going to feel
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: strange when it ends.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: Right, Well, I'm curious do what we can't get Bobby
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: on the line, But does he get gifts from them?
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: That's a good question.
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: Because Bobby also mentioned Father's Day and Mother's Day and
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: like that's all like, yeah, are they getting you gifts
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: for your birthday and for Christmas?
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: And you know, do you get an Easter basket?
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: Is it that sort of thing like or or do
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: the parents get you and your boyfriend like a joint gift?
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Like right, isn't that case?
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Yeah? I don't know. You wouldn't kill him.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: Bobby has kind of been dragged into this high level
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: gift giving scam the ghost where for whatever reason, gifts
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: are being given over and over. But these six children
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: want nothing to do with Bobby's gifts. I think Bobby
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: should take whatever. Another thing that's really good.
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: For rich people is like donating money for like to
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: charity to their name.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Yes, that really is.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: Like some sort of like one upmanship of like I
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: know you want something, but guess what people need things.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: While you're buzzing around the lake house.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, so yeah, making a donation in their name
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: is really it's really classy.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: But just get like a very expensive card with that.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Oh that's beautiful, one of these cards.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Well, I feel like, did they go out of business?
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: I feel like a walk.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Away from me. You're kidding.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: No, At the beginning of this pandemic, I right before
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: you saw to it.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: That they would go out a business.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: I swore, if it's the last thing I do, Papyrus
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: will go out of business.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Their brick and mortar stores will close.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: No.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: When we were getting ready before.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: This podcast began, I needed help wrapping gifts, and so
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: I went to Papyrus because I'm so bad at wrapping
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: gifts and they were having a fire sale going out
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: of business, and a tea there. Very sweet teen wrapped
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: all these gifts on discount, heavily discounted because they were
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: going out of business. But apparently you've kind of got
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: this rogue Papyrus that's running.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Should I go say something? I think they don't know right,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: they're just kind of like automatic. Our phone's been ringing.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: We haven't been paid in months. But is that what's
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: going on? Yeah?
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: But yeah, an expensive card. Maybe find one of those
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: charities where they put your name on a bench or
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: a brick or that kind of thing. That's a thing, right,
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: I think I've seen that before.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we're going to put your name on a
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: on a on something, right, a charity where they put
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: your name on something. I think those are more expensive though.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: Right, that's a Christmas gift, that's a fiftieth anniversary gift.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: But a Mother's Day, Father's Day. Maybe animal charity or something.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: The ASPCA, right, or something really like dismal. Right, something
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: just really just sad, and that reminds everyone of how
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: horrible so many dead children's funds goes to kind of
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: propelling children's deaths. So just to remind everyone that they're
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: dead children.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: Awareness my charity of raising awareness for dead children.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Cole, Okay, we're done answering questions.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Cole.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: I'm so happy to see you. I'm so glad you
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: be here, and this CAFL maker is wonderful.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: I really wanted to show up everyone else who's ever done.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I mean, this is something that would be want to do.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Embarrass your Frankly, you have good multiple time. Good for
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: a moment.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: One of this podcasts have been humiliated. And we're just
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: going to exit on that note, and uh, listen, this
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: is the end. Thank you for being here, and do
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: whatever you need to do now.
