Empire Towers in Glen Burnie remains under lockdown as county officials maintain a 150-foot safety zone around the building due to serious structural damage from unauthorized garage work. Engineers are on-site to stabilize the structure, with work set to begin this week and expected to wrap in about ten days. Meanwhile, the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation is helping affected businesses with a $2,500 disaster recovery grant and is developing detours to keep traffic flowing safely around the closure.
