- 0:02Speaker 1: What's up, everybody, and welcome to JFK Book Reviews. I
- 0:05Speaker 1: am Rob Clark and along with me is Joe BURRELLI
- 0:07Speaker 1: As always, and today we will be reviewing the book
- 0:11Speaker 1: General Walker and the Murder of President Kennedy, the extensive
- 0:17Speaker 1: new evidence of a radical right wing conspiracy by Jeffrey Cawfield, MD.
- 0:24Speaker 1: That means he's a doctor and this is a thick boy, Joe,
- 0:28Speaker 1: another one. Yeah, I could do curls with this bitch
- 0:32Speaker 1: and like get buff, but we'll save that for another night.
- 0:37Speaker 1: If you would just tell us about the book, Joe.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Sure. While it was released in twenty fifteen by Morland Press,
- 0:48Speaker 2: and the meat and potatoes of the book is about
- 0:53Speaker 2: seven hundred and ninety pages. There is a document section
- 0:57Speaker 2: which is about ten pages, and the ed no section
- 1:01Speaker 2: is one hundred and forty pages which is very thorough extensive,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and an index page as well. So you can get
- 1:11Speaker 2: this book on Amazon hardcover for nineteen ninety five. And
- 1:15Speaker 2: surprisingly the used versions are only twenty nine dollars on Amazon,
- 1:22Speaker 2: but I saw on some other used book sites up
- 1:24Speaker 2: to four hundred and fifty dollars. I guess that's the
- 1:27Speaker 2: first edition, maybe signed, but Kindle for only nine ninety
- 1:31Speaker 2: nine ten bucks. So Jeffrey Caulfield is a doctor, a
- 1:37Speaker 2: medical doctor. He's an author and research best known for
- 1:41Speaker 2: this book. I think this is his only book, actually,
- 1:44Speaker 2: rob and he applied academic research methods to his work,
- 1:49Speaker 2: utilizing public records, private correspondence, and declassified documents from the
- 1:55Speaker 2: Freedom of Information Act. And he argues that the radical
- 2:01Speaker 2: right conspiracy, driven by opposition to Kennedy's politices, particularly his
- 2:07Speaker 2: Civil Rights Act, culminated in the assassination. And with that
- 2:11Speaker 2: being said, it definitely has a conspiracy lean to it.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And I'll hand it off to you, sir.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you got that right. He also relied heavily on
- 2:24Speaker 1: document collections that have been donated from a lot of
- 2:26Speaker 1: these extreme right wingers to various universities or colleges throughout
- 2:31Speaker 1: the country.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Along the way he found a lot of interesting stuff. Now,
- 2:37Speaker 1: when you think about a conspiracy involving the extreme right wing,
- 2:41Speaker 1: we're not talking about just some gun nuts who belonged
- 2:45Speaker 1: to the John Birch Society, Okay, We're talking about Nazis.
- 2:50Speaker 1: We're talking about segregationists, States Rights party activists, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 1: just not good people in their forward thinking of how
- 3:05Speaker 1: or the direction that the country should be going. They
- 3:09Speaker 1: were probably born in the wrong century, if you ask me,
- 3:12Speaker 1: probably Joe. But this book itself does a great job
- 3:20Speaker 1: of extensively examining all of the various players, all of
- 3:27Speaker 1: the various organizations, because this kind of stuff, Joe was
- 3:31Speaker 1: strung out all through the South, from Georgia to Florida,
- 3:35Speaker 1: to Alabama, to Mississippi, Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, and even out
- 3:41Speaker 1: to California. And there was a lot of high ranking
- 3:48Speaker 1: folks like General Walker, like General Willoughby, like General Davallier,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and a lot of big money players like hl Hunt, Nelson,
- 3:58Speaker 1: Bunker Hunt, Leander Perez in New Orleans, Kent Courtney. And
- 4:06Speaker 1: when you look at a lot of this stuff and
- 4:10Speaker 1: how they interconnected with each other, and even over to
- 4:14Speaker 1: Joseph Miltier and Georgia, you know, he knew some things
- 4:18Speaker 1: that he shouldn't really know. And the fact that he
- 4:23Speaker 1: possibly could have been caught in a picture in Dealey
- 4:25Speaker 1: Plaza in Dallas on November twenty second is interesting considering
- 4:32Speaker 1: that he might have known ahead of time what was
- 4:35Speaker 1: going to be going on. But Joe, let me read
- 4:38Speaker 1: you an example, real quick short one of what's in
- 4:43Speaker 1: this book and says Walker traveled to New Orleans and
- 4:47Speaker 1: met with Kent Courtney, Leander Perez, and two employees of
- 4:51Speaker 1: Guy Banister and associate's office just days before the assassination.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And that is a true statement. General Wall Poker was
- 5:00Speaker 1: in New Orleans in the days before the assassination up
- 5:06Speaker 1: until the morning of the assassination, meeting with big money
- 5:12Speaker 1: players like Kent Courtney, Leander Perez, and two guys who
- 5:17Speaker 1: are very close associates of Guy Banister. What were they
- 5:22Speaker 1: meeting about? Why was Walker in New Orleans? You know this,
- 5:27Speaker 1: this gives us a whole new perspective on how things
- 5:30Speaker 1: could have shaken out in the summer of sixty three
- 5:33Speaker 1: into the fall of sixty three, A possible link between
- 5:37Speaker 1: New Orleans and Dallas, one of which the only one
- 5:40Speaker 1: we've had, you know, tangible up to now is Lee
- 5:45Speaker 1: Harvey Oswalt was in both places. But when you start
- 5:49Speaker 1: to look at the players and their associations and who
- 5:53Speaker 1: was around Lee Harvey Oswald at these different times, and
- 5:58Speaker 1: the fact that Oz Wall was blamed for shooting at Walker,
- 6:06Speaker 1: you know, it just gets crazy. It gets crazy, and
- 6:12Speaker 1: you know, this book doesn't have very many pictures in it, Joe,
- 6:16Speaker 1: very little, very few, no full page ones. So when
- 6:19Speaker 1: we're talking, you know, almost eight hundred pages to the
- 6:22Speaker 1: meat of this book. It is literally the meat of
- 6:25Speaker 1: the book. But it has broken up very well into many, many, many,
- 6:29Speaker 1: many chapters, some of which are just a page or
- 6:32Speaker 1: too long, or sub chapters inside of chapters. And it's
- 6:37Speaker 1: written very well, very easy to understand because it's a
- 6:41Speaker 1: very complicated subject, and it also is chock full of
- 6:44Speaker 1: information that we've never heard before like this. This is
- 6:50Speaker 1: a letter to Billy James Hargas in nineteen sixty six,
- 6:54Speaker 1: on December twenty eighth. Dear Billy, blah blah blah, just
- 7:02Speaker 1: some pleasantries, it says. Another peculiarity with de Mornshield returning
- 7:07Speaker 1: to Dallas from Haiti, as Rubinstein is allegedly dying with
- 7:11Speaker 1: cancer in parentheses and might talk. De Mornshield made a
- 7:16Speaker 1: front page spread and our informant produced his address in
- 7:21Speaker 1: whom he is staying with not good a warning. When
- 7:29Speaker 1: Rubinstein leaves the hospital in a box in parentheses, the
- 7:33Speaker 1: only way he will he will come out. There is
- 7:37Speaker 1: no further block to returning the blame to the right wing.
- 7:42Speaker 1: The books and press will gradually pick it up again.
- 7:47Speaker 1: H RFK must have it, it must be done as
- 7:50Speaker 1: insurance and assurance and RFK political necessity, seemingly foreshadowing what
- 7:59Speaker 1: was going to happen to JFK's brother RFK in the
- 8:02Speaker 1: coming years. And also we have another letter to Tom.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I don't know who Tom is, but they speak of
- 8:17Speaker 1: Marguerite Oswald being surveilled during the clay Shaw trial. It
- 8:24Speaker 1: says missus m Oswald should never be underestimated. We watch
- 8:28Speaker 1: her moves closely. I think the Onasis marriage proved one thing.
- 8:34Speaker 1: She is a red. With the accusation of extremists on us,
- 8:46Speaker 1: the free press out does us. So it's full of
- 8:51Speaker 1: very interesting, eyebrow raising things that you must account for
- 8:57Speaker 1: and must make sense of in the context the entire book. So,
- 9:02Speaker 1: with that being said, Joe, give us your feelings on it, Bud.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Sure. So you know, when I think about a rating
- 9:09Speaker 2: for a book, I think about what value, what value
- 9:14Speaker 2: hasn't added, And this book adds a lot of value.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I'd say it's probably one of the best, if not
- 9:21Speaker 2: the best books on the far right, and it provides
- 9:28Speaker 2: a detailed examination of the radical rights subculture in the
- 9:32Speaker 2: United States, particularly in Dallas, a hotbed of anti Kennedy segment.
- 9:38Speaker 2: And like you mentioned, the correspondence, the interviews, one hundred
- 9:43Speaker 2: and forty pages of sourcing. It's really well done, really
- 9:50Speaker 2: well done. And even if you don't think the extreme
- 9:52Speaker 2: right had a part of it, to rule them out,
- 9:55Speaker 2: I think you need to read this book to fully
- 9:58Speaker 2: comprehend their thoughts on President Kennedy. So in short, I
- 10:05Speaker 2: am going to give this a very solid eight point
- 10:12Speaker 2: five guns up. How about you?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Well, this book is the first of its kind to
- 10:22Speaker 1: implicate specifically General Walker in the murder of President Kennedy.
- 10:26Speaker 1: It's not the first book to, however, implicate the extreme
- 10:29Speaker 1: right wing in the murder of President Kennedy. It is
- 10:33Speaker 1: one of a very few to do that, though, and
- 10:35Speaker 1: it is the only one to have researched as extensively
- 10:40Speaker 1: as I think humanly possible to ever do so. And
- 10:48Speaker 1: there's very little room for speculation left in this book
- 10:51Speaker 1: when you are faced with the facts of the evidence
- 10:56Speaker 1: that Jeffrey Caffield brings forth in this book, A lot
- 10:59Speaker 1: of it is undeniable, right, and that is hard to
- 11:04Speaker 1: find in a Kennedy assassination book. Not only that is
- 11:08Speaker 1: its unique subject matter. This is not your run of
- 11:11Speaker 1: the mill Kennedy assassination book.
- 11:14Speaker 2: You know.
- 11:14Speaker 1: He does address the events in Dealey Plaza briefly in
- 11:20Speaker 1: this book, but again, the main focus this book is
- 11:23Speaker 1: not Oswald per se. It is not what's going on
- 11:28Speaker 1: in this school book depository. It's not who pulled the trigger.
- 11:30Speaker 1: It's who could have possibly orchestrated this thing and pulled
- 11:35Speaker 1: it off and why. And I think this book does
- 11:39Speaker 1: an excellent job of answering those questions. So with that
- 11:43Speaker 1: being said, Joe, I'm going to give this book my
- 11:48Speaker 1: first ever ten out of ten. Bang bang bang bang
- 11:53Speaker 1: bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang guns up, baby,
- 11:58Speaker 1: because I love this book. From the minute I picked
- 12:03Speaker 1: it up ten years ago, I could not put it
- 12:05Speaker 1: down and I still use it as a resource to
- 12:07Speaker 1: this very day when I need some go to information
- 12:10Speaker 1: about some of these extreme right wingers, some of this
- 12:13Speaker 1: New Orleans stuff. And it does a very excellent job
- 12:16Speaker 1: of laying everything out in a very easy to understand
- 12:19Speaker 1: way because it's a very complicated subject. So yeah, baby,
- 12:27Speaker 1: first ten love it. So with that being said, folks,
