- 0:15Speaker 3: Welcome to the Return to Glory Podcast!
- 0:28Speaker 4: Welcome back to.
- 0:30Speaker 5: August 27th.
- 0:34Speaker 6: Another day closer to college football, but we made it
- 0:41Speaker 6: to week zero. College football at least is back. I
- 0:44Speaker 6: guess NFL preseason has been back. Today we're going to
- 0:49Speaker 6: zoom out a little bit from Nebraska football and talk
- 0:54Speaker 6: more of the entire college football season and get our
- 0:58Speaker 6: opinions and thoughts, takes on who we believe in, who's
- 1:01Speaker 6: winning the Heisman National Championship. and talk a little week
- 1:07Speaker 6: zero since that's coming up here in a couple of
- 1:10Speaker 6: days we got some banger of some games don't.
- 1:13Speaker 7: We i have no idea honestly i didn't even look
- 1:17Speaker 7: to see what the schedule was this weekend i'm gonna get.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Some games this week austin so you better be ready.
- 1:23Speaker 7: I know there's some games this week i didn't even
- 1:25Speaker 7: look though oh man it doesn't.
- 1:27Speaker 3: It's it's not fantastic but that's the That's the way
- 1:33Speaker 3: I want it. Just tease us a little bit. Get
- 1:35Speaker 3: us to week one.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Sorry, I'm about to jump ahead of myself.
- 1:42Speaker 6: Dak likes getting teased. Do you want to dive into
- 1:45Speaker 6: that a little more, Austin?
- 1:47Speaker 7: No, I want to stay as far away from that
- 1:51Speaker 7: as possible.
- 1:55Speaker 4: So let's first start here.
- 1:57Speaker 3: This is where we're at in college football, and.
- 2:02Speaker 6: I guess the past two decades, basically. When you talk
- 2:07Speaker 6: about the best conference, the best teams, it all is
- 2:09Speaker 6: around the SEC. The last couple of years, though, three years,
- 2:14Speaker 6: I guess, we've got three straight for the Big Ten. Michigan,
- 2:20Speaker 6: Ohio State, and then last year, Indiana. So, I guess
- 2:25Speaker 6: I want to ask you both here, has the Big
- 2:29Speaker 6: Ten officially pass the SEC as the best conference in college.
- 2:34Speaker 7: Football? I feel like I need more than three years,
- 2:40Speaker 7: but it's close. I was actually thinking about this yesterday.
- 2:47Speaker 7: I was reading an article, you know, like, oh, who's
- 2:51Speaker 7: going to win the SEC? And I was just like,
- 2:54Speaker 7: I don't even know who's good in the SEC. You know,
- 2:57Speaker 7: I'm just Georgia's probably going to be up there, but.
- 2:59Speaker 5: I don't know. You know, you always be like, okay,
- 3:01Speaker 5: Georgia and Alabama are favorites to win everything.
- 3:05Speaker 7: But I didn't even think about them really like Alabama,
- 3:08Speaker 7: not even really in my mind.
- 3:11Speaker 1: They're probably not even the like top three favorite. Are they?
- 3:15Speaker 7: I would guess Ole Miss, Georgia and Texas.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Oh, Texas.
- 3:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 5: I forgot there in the sec.
- 3:23Speaker 7: Yeah. LSU.
- 3:27Speaker 5: No, I don't know.
- 3:29Speaker 7: I don't know if we have enough track field behind
- 3:33Speaker 7: us to say that it's definitively changed, but it's definitely
- 3:38Speaker 7: a 50-50 conversation now.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I would say definitely yes.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Especially with Indiana now being this good, I'd just say
- 3:47Speaker 3: it's another team at the top right there. A lot
- 3:49Speaker 3: in the Big Ten is rough, but the bottom of
- 3:51Speaker 3: the SEC is also rough. I think definitively yes, until
- 3:55Speaker 3: the SEC... I think three in a row. So if
- 3:59Speaker 3: a team wins three in a row, do you guys
- 4:01Speaker 3: count that as a dynasty?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:07Speaker 6: So there you go.
- 4:09Speaker 1: The Big Ten is a dynasty.
- 4:13Speaker 4: So, yes, I agree, Dak. The bottom's bad on both.
- 4:17Speaker 6: I think where the difference is with the SEC and
- 4:19Speaker 6: the Big Ten still is that middle. And I think
- 4:23Speaker 6: the SEC is still, in my mind, deeper. than the
- 4:26Speaker 6: Big Ten now, you know, is who's the better conference.
- 4:32Speaker 6: The middle doesn't matter to me when it comes to–
- 4:34Speaker 6: it's winning the sucker.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Who's won it?
- 4:37Speaker 5: It's been the Big Ten.
- 4:38Speaker 4: So, like, we kind of hold the crown. We hold
- 4:40Speaker 4: the trophies.
- 4:42Speaker 6: Recently, and I think that, you know, that makes us
- 4:45Speaker 6: a better conference. Now, I still think which conference would
- 4:49Speaker 6: I rather play in if I was a random team.
- 4:51Speaker 6: I'm still thinking the Big Ten because I think the
- 4:54Speaker 6: SEC's– just deeper.
- 4:57Speaker 7: Yeah. There's some, and there's some decent chain, like, you know,
- 4:59Speaker 7: Penn state and USC.
- 5:03Speaker 4: I mean, those teams are okay.
- 5:05Speaker 6: Now I guess the counter argument to that is look
- 5:09Speaker 6: at the bowl games the past few years and who's
- 5:11Speaker 6: won those.
- 5:11Speaker 4: It's the big 10 has won those games.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 4: So I don't know.
- 5:16Speaker 6: I mean, I think that's, that's definitely still, I would
- 5:19Speaker 6: still rather play a, in my mind, I'd rather play
- 5:23Speaker 6: a Iowa versus a, LSU yeah I mean I don't
- 5:29Speaker 6: know if that's a good comparison but yeah that's about
- 5:32Speaker 6: right Tennessee Tennessee.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Yeah I don't know that's my take on it.
- 5:39Speaker 3: But would you rather go to LSU or would you
- 5:42Speaker 3: rather go to Rutgers you'd rather go to Rutgers.
- 5:46Speaker 1: With all those black jobs in LSU like it's.
- 5:49Speaker 6: That's definitely not the same comparison uh All right, so
- 5:58Speaker 6: I know the rankings are out. There's preseason rankings, AP
- 6:00Speaker 6: coaches poll. What I like about the rankings this year
- 6:05Speaker 6: is that there were, I think, six or seven teams
- 6:09Speaker 6: that received first place votes.
- 6:12Speaker 4: In both polls. And that doesn't happen very often.
- 6:16Speaker 6: I think that tells you right now.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Where it's pretty open.
- 6:21Speaker 6: So, you know, forget the polls, forget the rankings right now.
- 6:26Speaker 6: You're going to pick one team to win the national title,
- 6:30Speaker 6: and if they win, you win.
- 6:33Speaker 8: Who are you taking? I'll go for it, Doug.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I have a definitive one, Oregon. I think they're bringing
- 6:46Speaker 1: back way too much talent.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I think Dan Lanning is, if not, well, I think Mendoza,
- 6:53Speaker 3: or not Mendoza, Jesus, Kirk Cennetti. is the best coach
- 6:57Speaker 3: in the nation. Lanning is right behind him. They're bringing
- 7:01Speaker 3: way too much talent back. Dante Moore is a great quarterback.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I think Oregon's going to win it.
- 7:10Speaker 7: I probably agree, but I also thought that last year
- 7:13Speaker 7: and had that shake out.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah, they're known to choke.
- 7:18Speaker 7: So since you picked Oregon, I have to pick someone
- 7:20Speaker 7: else because I also.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Want to win. So I am actually going to go
- 7:29Speaker 5: with Notre Dame.
- 7:32Speaker 7: Okay.
- 7:35Speaker 1: That's a good pick.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Easy schedule.
- 7:38Speaker 7: I feel like they're going to make it to the
- 7:39Speaker 7: playoffs and they were, they were killing teams at the
- 7:43Speaker 7: end of last year, even though they lost the first
- 7:44Speaker 7: two games of the year.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Yeah. Those two teams.
- 7:50Speaker 6: I mean, I've heard Oregon a lot as kind of
- 7:52Speaker 6: people's favorite Notre Dame actually is the odds on favorite. Um,
- 7:56Speaker 6: I actually went to the casino.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I think I got good value on them.
- 8:01Speaker 6: I took Georgia as my pick. I think there's one
- 8:05Speaker 6: that's not getting talked about a lot. They got Gunnar
- 8:08Speaker 6: Stockton back. I think that maybe a little sleeper team.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Which is a hilarious concept that Georgia is a sleeper team.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yep.
- 8:20Speaker 6: And your other teams, obviously, I was hoping nobody would
- 8:23Speaker 6: pick Texas, and we didn't.
- 8:24Speaker 5: Good job there.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Nope.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Obviously, Indiana, I mean, if you're a believer in Cignetti
- 8:29Speaker 6: and full-on are locked into him, Miami's been another trendy.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Pick this year.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Right there would be my second team, Miami.
- 8:38Speaker 4: I think Dak's picking the two trendy teams. That makes sense.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I'm not going to pick freaking Rutgers to
- 8:44Speaker 1: win the national title.
- 8:46Speaker 4: What's your deal with the Rutgers this morning?
- 8:49Speaker 5: They announced their blackout game against Indiana.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Yes, that's it.
- 8:53Speaker 5: Locked in.
- 8:58Speaker 7: I mean, it's interesting because, you know, there's the talk of, like,
- 9:03Speaker 7: Lane Kiffin's $ 40 million LSU Tigers roster. Like, I'd have
- 9:07Speaker 7: no idea where that's going to shake out. Same with,
- 9:11Speaker 7: you know, Texas A & M and Texas Tech and
- 9:13Speaker 7: the amount of money they spent on their rosters.
- 9:15Speaker 5: Like, those teams could just be really good.
- 9:19Speaker 7: And, you know, they're like, man, it was dumb for
- 9:22Speaker 7: us not to take the Tigers who went 12-0.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Which Texas Techs?
- 9:27Speaker 3: Texas Tech just found a quarterback that I feel like
- 9:29Speaker 3: has been in college since we were like three years
- 9:31Speaker 3: old yesterday. Because their quarterback, I don't know if anyone
- 9:34Speaker 3: out there doesn't know this, but he might have given
- 9:36Speaker 3: him long games. Anyway, they got Castellanos from wherever the
- 9:42Speaker 3: five schools have been before this.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Florida State. No.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Yeah, Florida State, Boston College, and there was one more
- 9:49Speaker 3: before that. But, yeah, he got granted another year to play. So, yeah,
- 9:52Speaker 3: he'll be the quarterback.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Great.
- 9:56Speaker 6: Yeah, and that's what's interesting is, you know, with the
- 9:59Speaker 6: new playoff... format, like, or the current playoff format, you know,
- 10:03Speaker 6: 12 teams get in, they've adjusted it, and, like, you
- 10:06Speaker 6: see at the top of the board, there's not really
- 10:08Speaker 6: a Big 12 school or an ACC school.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Miami, I guess, is the one.
- 10:12Speaker 6: But you would think that, I mean, we know somebody's
- 10:16Speaker 6: getting in, right, and if someone like Texas Tech goes
- 10:20Speaker 6: off and it is 12-0 or 11-1, you know, where
- 10:22Speaker 6: do they finish?
- 10:23Speaker 4: I'm guessing they'll finish top of three or four. Are
- 10:27Speaker 4: they capable to then win it all?
- 10:31Speaker 1: I mean, maybe.
- 10:33Speaker 6: So, yeah, you throw that in there as well. And
- 10:37Speaker 6: then also, you know, BYU's in the Big 12, another
- 10:40Speaker 6: one that's up there.
- 10:41Speaker 5: I mean, how much is– oh, gosh, what's his name?
- 10:45Speaker 5: The owner of? Utah Jazz. Something Smith.
- 10:49Speaker 7: Isn't he the one who's been, like, bankrolling BYU's talent
- 10:51Speaker 7: acquisition the last couple of years? The AJ DeVance that
- 10:55Speaker 7: mostly has been in basketball, but didn't they get a
- 10:58Speaker 7: decent amount of players this year because of just the
- 11:02Speaker 7: amount of money that.
- 11:04Speaker 1: They're... You couldn't pay me enough to go to BYU.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I bet I could.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, you probably could, but....
- 11:17Speaker 5: Never mind.
- 11:18Speaker 7: I was going to take a dig at you, Dak,
- 11:19Speaker 7: but I don't need to. That's just mean.
- 11:25Speaker 6: Let's jump over to players here in this 2026 season.
- 11:29Speaker 6: A lot of these players are guys that are on
- 11:32Speaker 6: these teams, obviously. If you had to pick a Heisman winner,
- 11:39Speaker 6: give me your Heisman winner.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Dante Moore.
- 11:43Speaker 7: It's going to be a quarterback and it's going to
- 11:46Speaker 7: be someone who puts up numbers on a good offense
- 11:49Speaker 7: and they're going to, they're going to have to make,
- 11:50Speaker 7: you know, do decent.
- 11:52Speaker 5: And I think Oregon is going to do that.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You jumped in too soon. That was mine.
- 11:57Speaker 5: That's why I jumped in quick. I knew you were good.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Yeah. All right.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Then I'll go Julian saying, I think his talent wide
- 12:06Speaker 3: receiver is going to be good. I was not massive
- 12:10Speaker 3: on him last year. I think another year on the system,
- 12:12Speaker 3: he will, absolutely go off this year.
- 12:17Speaker 6: Here's what I always think with the Heisman too, like,
- 12:20Speaker 6: especially recent years, you're, obviously if your team does well
- 12:26Speaker 6: and you have a stud player that is on that team,
- 12:29Speaker 6: they're going to be a very high candidate to win it.
- 12:32Speaker 4: And that's always been that way. If you're on a
- 12:35Speaker 4: team that maybe.
- 12:36Speaker 6: Is more, not so I'll say balanced, but like doesn't
- 12:41Speaker 6: really have a star that opens the door for, really
- 12:45Speaker 6: anybody and when you're looking at heisman winners you do
- 12:50Speaker 6: got to consider the team's.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Uh performance too.
- 12:54Speaker 6: Like uh even if you're really really good and you're
- 12:59Speaker 6: leading the team i mean hell we're probably a really
- 13:01Speaker 6: good example with calandria calandria if let's say he has
- 13:04Speaker 6: a boom year and he goes nuts right and it's
- 13:06Speaker 6: putting up numbers left and right but we end up
- 13:09Speaker 6: we still end up well, if he does that, we're
- 13:12Speaker 6: probably not going six and six. We're probably going to
- 13:14Speaker 6: go eight and four, you know, that's, I don't think
- 13:18Speaker 6: that's enough to win the Heisman. You're going to get
- 13:20Speaker 6: in the conversation. Um, if you're leading a team like
- 13:24Speaker 6: Nebraska at eight and four, nine and three, even let's
- 13:26Speaker 6: even go nine and three. But if, if you're not,
- 13:28Speaker 6: if you're not a top 10 team, it's going to
- 13:31Speaker 6: be hard to win it.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Uh, so, so you always take that into consideration.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Um, So you were just out throwing your money around.
- 13:39Speaker 3: What were his odds on the Heisman?
- 13:42Speaker 4: I didn't look. They were out there, but they weren't great.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Honestly, that would not be a bad bet to throw
- 13:52Speaker 3: like $ 5 on.
- 13:53Speaker 5: That'd be a bad bet.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I just told you. Yeah, you clearly didn't just listen.
- 13:58Speaker 7: To my bet.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Plus $ 12, 500.
- 13:58Speaker 5: I'm saying if they go like somehow 11-1.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, if you're drinking the Kool-Aid and want
- 14:08Speaker 6: to go that route, yeah, I just think that what
- 14:12Speaker 6: you want to do is find a team that's.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Going to compete at the end of it.
- 14:21Speaker 6: The guy that I think is maybe an under-the-radar player
- 14:24Speaker 6: that I think could have a chance is Bear Bachmeier
- 14:28Speaker 6: from BYU. Again, Big 12. Just got to go 11-1, right?
- 14:34Speaker 6: And you're going to be a top 10 team. Now,
- 14:36Speaker 6: whether you're actually a top 10 team, I don't know.
- 14:39Speaker 6: But you're going to be getting a lot of attention.
- 14:42Speaker 4: And could win it. I mean, going that scenario, being
- 14:45Speaker 4: a top 10 team. I'll go my pick. Another one
- 14:49Speaker 4: that's trendy is Trinidad Chambliss.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:52Speaker 6: I'm not big on the Ole Miss train with Lane gone.
- 14:55Speaker 6: I'm going to go Gunner Stockton. I'll stick with my Georgia.
- 14:58Speaker 5: My Georgia love.
- 15:01Speaker 4: He's not rolling the favorites, but.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Is it foolish for us all to be out on
- 15:06Speaker 5: basically everything Indiana? No Josh Hoover?
- 15:11Speaker 3: Let's talk about that a little bit here.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Yeah, what do we think?
- 15:17Speaker 1: I'm not mad about Indiana.
- 15:20Speaker 7: I genuinely don't know what to do with Indiana because
- 15:23Speaker 7: none of us thought Fernando Mendoza was going to win
- 15:26Speaker 7: the Heisman last year.
- 15:28Speaker 5: We didn't think Indiana was going to go 16-0. Why
- 15:31Speaker 5: can't they do it again?
- 15:33Speaker 7: You know, they lost their quarterback and a couple wide receivers,
- 15:36Speaker 7: but outside of that, I really don't know what they lost.
- 15:40Speaker 5: That couldn't be replaced.
- 15:41Speaker 6: They lost quite a bit of James Madison guys.
- 15:43Speaker 4: They lost a receiver. They lost a really good corner.
- 15:46Speaker 6: They lost quite a bit, but your Indiana belief and
- 15:50Speaker 6: story is trust in Cignetti, and if you've really just said, yep,
- 15:55Speaker 6: this guy is– an all-time great. He's going to, you know,
- 16:02Speaker 6: he's going to fill those pieces in with the right
- 16:04Speaker 6: people and it's going to look good again in 2026.
- 16:07Speaker 5: And they have more money to spend on their roster
- 16:11Speaker 5: this year because people are Cuban to bankroll them because
- 16:16Speaker 5: they were winning.
- 16:18Speaker 3: No, I, so I mean, Hunter, we're talking, we said,
- 16:20Speaker 3: would you rather go into the last season? Would you
- 16:21Speaker 3: rather take a Mendoza or Hoover?
- 16:23Speaker 1: You would take an Hoover. Like, I'm not on Indiana
- 16:26Speaker 1: at all.
- 16:26Speaker 3: And obviously more players are coming now to Indiana because
- 16:28Speaker 3: they're believing in Cignetti. So I think it would be
- 16:31Speaker 3: like a saving thing. Every year he's just going to
- 16:32Speaker 3: run it back and they're going to be this good again.
- 16:35Speaker 4: You're not high in Indiana at all?
- 16:37Speaker 7: Oh, no, I am.
- 16:38Speaker 5: I am high in Indiana.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think– I'm playing both sides there.
- 16:45Speaker 6: For it to be– I mean, I kind of want
- 16:48Speaker 6: to see it one more year. I do believe– I
- 16:50Speaker 6: think Cignetti's a really good coach. But for me to
- 16:52Speaker 6: put him in a– in a GOAT or all-time great.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Of all time.
- 16:58Speaker 6: I don't even know if he has a win one,
- 17:00Speaker 6: but he's got to have another year of success of
- 17:02Speaker 6: being in the top five consistently.
- 17:06Speaker 7: He can't be a top 10 coach all time with
- 17:08Speaker 7: only one championship. I feel pretty strongly about that one.
- 17:12Speaker 6: So, no, I'm obviously not out, but I think I'm
- 17:16Speaker 6: kind of where the market's at on him. You know,
- 17:18Speaker 6: the rank sixth, I think I'm kind of there, right? Like,
- 17:21Speaker 6: I think it's a good spot for him. It's kind
- 17:23Speaker 6: of weird to say a defending national champion in today's world.
- 17:27Speaker 6: You know, they are sixth.
- 17:30Speaker 5: You know, you can see the voters.
- 17:34Speaker 6: They received the second most first-place votes, but they're sixth.
- 17:38Speaker 6: So that tells you, like, some people have them.
- 17:40Speaker 4: High.
- 17:43Speaker 6: Well, high, one, obviously, but then some people have them
- 17:46Speaker 6: back in, like, the teens and 20s probably to balance
- 17:49Speaker 6: that out to make them sixth.
- 17:50Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Crazy.
- 17:54Speaker 7: You look at their schedule, I don't think Michigan is
- 17:56Speaker 7: going to be that good this year. I don't think
- 17:58Speaker 7: USC is going to be that good. They're going to
- 17:59Speaker 7: be tough. Washington is going to be decent. Nebraska is
- 18:02Speaker 7: going to be a pushover. But outside of that, they
- 18:05Speaker 7: play Ohio State.
- 18:10Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 18:11Speaker 7: You look at the odds, and I would rather have
- 18:15Speaker 7: Indiana's odds over Texas.
- 18:17Speaker 5: I don't know why anyone thinks Texas can win anything.
- 18:19Speaker 5: I've never seen them do anything.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and the quarterback blows.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Blows might be a strong word, but I don't know.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Maybe he does.
- 18:33Speaker 1: He sucks.
- 18:36Speaker 7: All right.
- 18:37Speaker 6: Any other general college football before we get into week zero? Thoughts, takes,
- 18:42Speaker 6: teams you don't think that are overrated teams?
- 18:46Speaker 3: Let's all pick our sleeper team and then the team
- 18:50Speaker 3: that's overrated. okay go ahead dac i mean my sleeper
- 18:56Speaker 3: team boomer sooner boomer soon oklahoma get out of here
- 19:02Speaker 3: i i know i know you two have both saw
- 19:04Speaker 3: this drama tier is freaking ripped now that guy in
- 19:09Speaker 3: actually actually our team is supposed to have one of
- 19:10Speaker 3: the best events in the nation sleeper team right there
- 19:14Speaker 3: now most overrated michigan bryce underwood I was kind of
- 19:18Speaker 3: joking about Arch Manning sucking. I think Bryce Underwood does suck.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I don't believe in that guy one bit. And they
- 19:25Speaker 3: play week two, so we will see. That could absolutely
- 19:27Speaker 3: flip right there. So, yeah, Michigan is the most overrated team.
- 19:34Speaker 7: Are we picking this based off of the championship odds
- 19:37Speaker 7: or current ranking?
- 19:40Speaker 4: Just whatever you want, Austin.
- 19:41Speaker 6: Whatever you think the definition of under or overrated is.
- 19:47Speaker 5: I would probably say Alabama. is a little underrated. Could be.
- 19:55Speaker 7: And then sleeper team. I'm going to say the sleeper
- 20:02Speaker 7: team is a team that you're going to.
- 20:03Speaker 5: Be surprised by.
- 20:03Speaker 4: You think Alabama is over or underrated?
- 20:06Speaker 5: I think they're underrated.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Okay, so that can be your sleeper team or you're
- 20:10Speaker 6: doing an additional one.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, you're right. I was going to do, honestly,
- 20:16Speaker 5: I was going to make the playoffs. I'm calling it
- 20:18Speaker 5: right now.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I could see that.
- 20:25Speaker 7: Why wouldn't they? Their schedule is not that hard. Overrated team.
- 20:30Speaker 7: It's probably going to be Texas A & M.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Texas, really?
- 20:33Speaker 7: I really think Texas is overrated. I don't think it's
- 20:36Speaker 7: going to shake out that well for them, but That's what.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I got.
- 20:42Speaker 6: I'll go my overrated team. I kind of mentioned earlier,
- 20:45Speaker 6: I'm going to go Ole Miss. I think they're going
- 20:47Speaker 6: to not flop, but, um, I don't know. I just
- 20:52Speaker 6: think obviously the sec is as a room for a
- 20:54Speaker 6: few teams. I'm me being high on Georgia this year. And, um,
- 21:00Speaker 6: I guess I am taking LSU in that game against
- 21:03Speaker 6: Ole Miss. Um, I will say my breakout team, I'm
- 21:10Speaker 6: going to– another team I guess I'm putting overrated. Sorry,
- 21:13Speaker 6: before I go to breakout that is actually rated. I
- 21:15Speaker 6: can't believe they're rated, so that's why I'm counting it
- 21:18Speaker 6: as an overrated team is Missouri.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I think they're going to be horrible.
- 21:25Speaker 6: They're 25th in both the AP and coaches, and their
- 21:29Speaker 6: schedule is brutal. I just– I don't know that they're
- 21:33Speaker 6: making a bowl game.
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'll bet you $ 20 on the over-under right now. I'll
- 21:36Speaker 1: take the over-under.
- 21:37Speaker 3: All right. I don't have a clue what it is,
- 21:40Speaker 3: but I'll take their over.
- 21:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Deal.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Then my breakout team, I don't mind the Alabama pick,
- 21:51Speaker 6: and I know they're ranked 11th.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 6: I'm probably going to really regret this, but I think
- 21:59Speaker 6: a team that's getting overlooked that I don't know that
- 22:03Speaker 6: they're completely done with it yet, but it's Clemson. and
- 22:08Speaker 6: okay give me dabbo to to make it to the
- 22:11Speaker 6: acc title game potentially make it into the playoffs.
- 22:15Speaker 1: With that uh they're not ranked right i think they're.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Right at the bottom they're 23rd in the coaches and
- 22:20Speaker 6: they are not in the ap so.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Give me give me clemson as my breakout team all
- 22:30Speaker 4: right zero um I'm just going to mention a few games.
- 22:35Speaker 6: There's eight games on Saturday that we're going to quickly
- 22:38Speaker 6: talk about. We're not going to go into too much detail.
- 22:43Speaker 6: If you guys want to talk about any of these,
- 22:44Speaker 6: let me know. I think the one game that has
- 22:47Speaker 6: a little bit of interest to us is USC, who's
- 22:50Speaker 6: the only ranked team playing San Jose State in the
- 22:54Speaker 6: Big Ten. I think the other games to mention are
- 22:58Speaker 6: Hawaii at Stanford.
- 23:03Speaker 4: NC State at Virginia.
- 23:05Speaker 7: That's how you know it's a bad weekend.
- 23:06Speaker 5: The other teams to mention are Hawaii.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Jacksonville State at North Dakota State.
- 23:14Speaker 5: That's the biggest one, man.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Memphis at UNLV.
- 23:20Speaker 1: That'll be a good.
- 23:22Speaker 6: Game, actually. You guys are trying to jump in and
- 23:28Speaker 6: interrupt me here. I'm going to get through the games
- 23:30Speaker 6: and let you give your thoughts.
- 23:31Speaker 4: And then the last one, the big.
- 23:33Speaker 6: One, the Ireland game, is North Carolina and TCU in
- 23:38Speaker 6: Belichick's second year.
- 23:40Speaker 4: So out of those games, give me.
- 23:45Speaker 6: The one that you really want to watch. I'm going
- 23:48Speaker 6: to take the North Carolina-TCU game out of there. Give
- 23:50Speaker 6: me the other one that you really want to watch,
- 23:52Speaker 6: and we'll talk about that one a little more at
- 23:54Speaker 6: the end.
- 23:56Speaker 7: It's obviously North Dakota State, Jacksonville State. Their entrance to
- 24:00Speaker 7: the FBS.
- 24:00Speaker 6: Yes.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I was just going to say that, Austin. Exactly. That
- 24:05Speaker 1: is the one that's got me locked in on that.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Well, not actually locked in. I probably won't watch that.
- 24:09Speaker 3: But anyway, that would be the one I'd watch. So
- 24:13Speaker 3: then if I didn't have to go to that, probably
- 24:15Speaker 3: Memphis UNLV. I think that's going to be a high-scoring game.
- 24:20Speaker 3: They both love to throw the ball around.
- 24:21Speaker 7: Where did the UNLV quarterback go from last year who
- 24:24Speaker 7: sat out because he didn't get paid his NIL money? Oh.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Do you remember? That was a couple.
- 24:30Speaker 4: That wasn't even last year.
- 24:32Speaker 5: That was two years ago. That was two years ago? Geez.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Sorry.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Last year was Calandra.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Oh, you're right. It was Calandra.
- 24:38Speaker 4: I thought you were joking.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought you were too.
- 24:41Speaker 5: No, no, I wasn't. Geez, you're right. That was two
- 24:43Speaker 5: years ago.
- 24:45Speaker 6: The other quarterback that UNLV has is Alex Orgy. And
- 24:50Speaker 6: he started game one, got hurt, and then Calandra came in.
- 24:54Speaker 6: And Dak, who's their other contender at UNLV. That's competing
- 24:59Speaker 6: with Orgy.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Well, if Orgy wins the job, that will not be
- 25:04Speaker 1: a high-scoring game.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Former five-star Oklahoma quarterback.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Oh, is it Jackson Arnold? There you go. Wow. What
- 25:19Speaker 1: a fall-off for that guy.
- 25:21Speaker 6: I've heard Dan Mullen might be running some 2QB systems.
- 25:25Speaker 6: That's kind of why I want to watch that, because
- 25:27Speaker 6: Dan Mullen obviously is a is an offensive kind of like,
- 25:32Speaker 6: you can call him a genius, but he's creative. So
- 25:35Speaker 6: it could be exciting to see what that looks like. Austin,
- 25:39Speaker 6: you mentioned North Dakota State. I think that'll be, yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 6: it's at the Fargo Dome. Yeah, let's see what the heck.
- 25:48Speaker 1: They're made of.
- 25:49Speaker 4: And then the game that everybody's.
- 25:53Speaker 6: Going to want to turn on and watch at the
- 25:57Speaker 6: first game of the year, in Dublin, right in the morning. Uh,
- 26:02Speaker 6: Bill Belichick takes his team over, over the water. Last year,
- 26:06Speaker 6: TCU beat North Carolina. I don't know if you remember
- 26:09Speaker 6: the first drive.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Um, Oh yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 6: North Carolina goes down, scores, goes up 7-0. That place
- 26:15Speaker 6: is nuts. It's on Thursday night. Um, pretty, you know, awesome.
- 26:20Speaker 4: And then TCU then goes on a 48-7 run and
- 26:23Speaker 4: demolishes them. Um, So we'll see.
- 26:32Speaker 6: I just don't think this Bill Belichick thing is going
- 26:34Speaker 6: to work.
- 26:36Speaker 5: Come on. Jordan's running a tight ship over there.
- 26:42Speaker 6: Jordan?
- 26:43Speaker 5: Jordan. Jordan. Jordan Hudson. Yeah, Belichick's getting fired after this year.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Okay, yeah. Do you guys remember this name?
- 26:53Speaker 3: This is North Carolina's quarterback, Billy Edwards, Jr.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Maryland, Wisconsin. Yep.
- 27:00Speaker 3: He didn't have any shot at Wisconsin last year.
- 27:04Speaker 1: He got hurt very early.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I think the Belichick train is pretty over.
- 27:11Speaker 1: He will be sitting off in the sunset with his
- 27:13Speaker 1: 19-year-old girlfriend here pretty soon.
- 27:15Speaker 5: Sounds tough. All of his money and his accolades.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Anything else?
- 27:27Speaker 7: I'm looking at the odds right now on DraftKings to
- 27:30Speaker 7: make the college football playoffs, and I'm surprised that K-State
- 27:39Speaker 7: plus 750 is higher than Iowa. Sorry, that was it.
- 27:49Speaker 1: No, that is surprising.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Big 12.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Big 12.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Same with Illinois. Yeah, I guess.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Big 12, you're going to be.
- 27:59Speaker 5: You're right. The chances of you winning the Big 12
- 28:01Speaker 5: is much higher.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Here's a little trivia for you, Austin. Who's K-State's new coach?
- 28:07Speaker 7: Isn't it the offensive coordinator, Klein?
- 28:12Speaker 5: Isn't it the son?
- 28:13Speaker 6: Yep.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Ding, ding, ding.
- 28:14Speaker 6: Yep.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I love that hire.
- 28:19Speaker 3: No idea how he's going to be a side coach,
- 28:20Speaker 3: but man.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Was he fun to watch.
- 28:23Speaker 4: It's not like he's brand new. He was there last
- 28:25Speaker 4: year on the staff.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Uh, yeah, that's, I don't know. It's going to, it's
- 28:36Speaker 5: a weird year.
- 28:36Speaker 7: There's going to be a lot with all the transfers
- 28:39Speaker 7: and fifth year quarterbacks and it's going to be a
- 28:43Speaker 7: lot of familiar faces on new teams, which is, you know,
- 28:48Speaker 7: just something to get used to, I guess.
- 28:50Speaker 6: Yep.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Cause every year is probably going to be like that and,
- 28:52Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 28:53Speaker 6: Once, once you figure out where everybody's at, it's like, well,
- 28:56Speaker 6: the NBA is obviously more like that now too.
- 28:58Speaker 4: And NFL, it's like, all right, start the new year.
- 29:00Speaker 4: We're going to figure out where everybody's at, what team
- 29:02Speaker 4: they're on.
- 29:03Speaker 5: Yeah. It's not quite the same pace, you know, but yeah,
- 29:06Speaker 5: I agree. We're moving there though. We're moving there.
- 29:09Speaker 7: It's well, it's just, it's always the, it's like the
- 29:12Speaker 7: one-year quarterback rental. There's a lot more one-year quarterback rentals.
- 29:16Speaker 7: You know, if it was a two-year rental, it makes
- 29:18Speaker 7: a little more sense, but I don't know.
- 29:20Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Yeah, hold up before we leave here. I'm going to
- 29:25Speaker 3: get off thoughts on this. Wait, how do you think
- 29:27Speaker 3: the Sixers are going to be now they got LeBron?
- 29:31Speaker 5: They are going to be a top three team in
- 29:34Speaker 5: the East. They're still old as hell, not very deep.
- 29:38Speaker 5: But I think if they're healthy, they can definitely make
- 29:45Speaker 5: a run in the playoffs. Their guards are sick. They're good.
- 29:52Speaker 5: They're going to be good. Well, I mean.
- 29:58Speaker 6: They beat the Celtics without LeBron last year, so I
- 30:00Speaker 6: think they'll be fine.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Beat is a strong word.
- 30:04Speaker 5: Beat is not a strong word, I don't think.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And that is our NBA preview.
- 30:12Speaker 5: That was our NBA preview.
- 30:16Speaker 6: All right.
- 30:16Speaker 4: We'll be back tomorrow morning. We'll see who joins me.
- 30:20Speaker 6: We're going to have a conversation about referees tomorrow and officiating.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Oh, if anyone wants to watch, me and Hunter are
- 30:30Speaker 3: broadcasting the Batch Football Game Friday.
- 30:34Speaker 5: I heard you're the new Tony Romo.
- 30:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:37Speaker 5: You've been believed.
- 30:38Speaker 1: On YouTube.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Thanks.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Thanks for giving us a call out there.
- 30:44Speaker 6: Yep.
- 30:47Speaker 7: All right.
