- 0:56SPEAKER_01: So welcome to the show.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Michelle, I'm so excited you're here.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: Oh, thank you for having me.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: I'm very excited.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah, I would love to.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I would yeah, I would love to get started because I want to learn how you, you know, how you created such a beautiful line and I want to talk about all the cool stuff that's gone behind this because I know there are such um unique products.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: So can you get us started with maybe um the beginning of your journey um into this area?
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, so uh I mean my journey is quite a long one, but I've been uh an aromatherapist and a healer for nearly 40 years now.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Um so my so my journey was literally via the treatment room.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Um about um about 10 years ago, I just um I I've been treating people and I suddenly started to know notice this acceleration in stress-related illnesses.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: And you know, it was being kind of put under several, you know, uh mental health issues, etc.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: But I think stress was the main driver.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Everybody was working too hard, everybody was thinking too hard, playing too hard.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: And I I I, as a therapist, thought I don't actually just want to be a band-aid, I actually want to get people a little bit more engaged in their own well-being.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: So about 10 years ago, that that was the trigger for me, that was the catalyst.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: I thought I want to kind of create a range that people can use whilst they're at work or at home that really starts to engage them in the process of understanding where they are in their energy balance, you know.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: Um I think I think unfortunately in our world, because everything had got so busy, people didn't check in enough into their energy balance.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: So consequently, the only time they actually did anything about it was when, well, I often use this phrase when the elastic band snapped and they either got ill or you know, uh emotionally fraught, those were the kind of drivers, but actually, my whole process was about let's stop it before it gets to that point so that life actually becomes a much more enjoyable process.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: So that that's how I started.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: I love that, and I love that you're talking about energy because you know, I've been a huge supporter of like just, you know, I remember I remember being in college and going to all the metaphysical stores and like being really interested in like crystals and you know, just things to help balance my chakras and you know, just things like that.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: And I realized like at that point, you know, I remember um realizing that you know this stuff really helps me, you know, not just help my energy, but balance me, like, you know, overall.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: So I I think that um, you know, when I first tried your line, that's really where it took me back to was this feeling of just like, okay, you know what, it's self-care, but it's really about just recentering.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: So I I really love it.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and also, you know, I think when you start on this journey of um uh well-being, you embrace so many different modalities.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: So, you know, my journey has been I've worked with um uh an Indian shaman, you know.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: I obviously I studied aromatherapy with one of the top aromatherapists in in the UK.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: In fact, she was responsible for actually a lot of the American therapists who were trained because they were always coming to her clinic.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: Um, so this was this was when um you know aromatherapy was very woo-woo.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: Nobody kind of really believed that plants could kind of heal you, you know.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Um which is uh which is ironic.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, we're now living in a in a time where everybody is sort of embracing it, but you know, through that, you know, I I I trained with crystals, I trained in qigong, I had a fascination for Chinese medicine.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Um, I trained as a uh in Reiki, I'm a Reiki master, I've been a Reiki master for 20 years.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: So I mean that's one element that happens with our products.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: I I actually Reiki everything that's produced in our range.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: So you get a little bit of Michelle power from it.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: That's so amazing.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: No, I love that because honestly, you know, in the in the intro, I said like I've been using one of your products, and for everyone listening, the product I was referring to is the comfort warming rub.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: It's a bomb, and it's just amazing, you know.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Like I was using it for my hip injury.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: I actually fell on my right hip and I had this giant like hematoma, like you know, my hip really swelled up, and you know, I was using the bomb, and you know, it was just giving me so much relief.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: And I would wake up with just like I wouldn't say like no pain, but it was definitely like not at all what it was like the night before.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: So I know that you know, what you're doing is of just such great advantage from not just like the the realm that we of this industry, but also like, you know, from a medical standpoint, from an alternative medical standpoint, right?
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: So I want to talk about that a little bit.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: I want to talk about like, you know, in terms of the any kind of hurdles you might have um, you know, encountered when you were really wanted to start this line.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Um actually, you know, it was a very big turning point for me because I just decided when I did this line, I said it's going to be really transparent.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: It's literally going to be what I'm into, and it may take us a little bit longer to get known.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: Um, but I I was very, very committed to sort of utilising every tool that I use.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: So, for example, we have a Himalayan detox sort.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: I put amethyst powder in there, but I put this into the product 10 years ago.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I know people are using crystals now in products, but we were doing it a long time.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I wanted to use the idea of crystal tinctures, crystal powders, um, sort of mineral powders that help to remove negative ions, you know.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Um, with the comfort rub, you know, the actual base, even though it's a gel, is actually made out of macerated oil.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: So they're kind of herbal oils that are really rich in the healing power of each herb.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: So it's got things like onica and turmeric and um mullion oil and chickweed oil.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: So these are all anti-inflammatory oils.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: So the base itself is healing, and then you've got essential oils that are like uh turpentine and um uh heliacretion and calendula, you know, this just it is literally like a pot of goodness.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, it really is.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: It's a it's a beautiful product, and you know, and that's not the only one.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: I really enjoy um, you know, you have a product that's like you know, crystals in a jar and it has such a beautiful smell, and the aromatherapy is just it's beautiful, you know.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: And the way that you describe and the way we're supposed to use it is basically, you know, for everyone listening, like, you know, if you use the crystals, you open the jar and then you take, you know, just kind of take a whiff, I guess, right?
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: And then close your eyes and just kind of be present for a minute and it really works.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: It really brings you into this like just comfortable, natural, just present state.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: So I wanna, I want you to explain that to us actually about crystals.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, like can you give us a little bit of information?
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: Because I feel like there's so much stuff out there, you know, that's not really um, I don't know, accurate or it's just made up.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: So I want to I want to hear from you like, what is the purpose of crystals and how do they work, you know, for our energy and stuff?
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, crystals like like essential oils are vibrational remedies.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: So they they um vibrate at a certain frequency.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: Um, they're also minerals, so they're made up of different uh mineral components.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: So um when our body doesn't actually have those components or um is deficient in them, what crystals do is they'll either draw out things or they'll amplify the energy that they're trying to put into you so that you can come into resonance with them.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: I don't know if that makes sense.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: No, it does, it really does, because like I know there's so many books out there, right?
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Like about different ones, like you know, like quartz does this or like amethyst does this, you know.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: So when you were picking your um, like for for example, let's you know, focus on the product, like the crystal clear um product that I was talking about, it's got um almost clear crystals.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: So, how did you pick these specifically?
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: Um, what were you looking for when you oh okay?
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: So, with the crystal clear, the actual big chunks are salt.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: So they're Himalayan salts, and you know, salt has been a healing cure for removing um negativity from ancient times, and when I decided to to create this product, I was thinking of smelling salts.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: You know how they apparently they used to smell ghastly because they basically had ammonia in them, and I thought, wouldn't it be nice to create an uh something like the old-fashioned smelling salts but make it really fragrant and uplifting and mood-changing?
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: So that was the the the thing behind that, and we use these pink Himalayan salts, we're very well known for them, and we had a lot of these large chunks, and we thought they're so beautiful.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Most people fall in love with them, and then we thought, well, how can we use them so we're not just throwing them away?
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: And um, that's how it came about, and then through it, I've put amethyst crystals, and amethyst is well known for removing uh negative energy in your work environment.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, so that's why they're there.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: So the whole idea of crystal clear is have it on your desktop, and on one level, what it does is it centers and focuses you, but on another level, what it does it, you know, it gets rid of that kind of brain fog and that lack of confidence or that depletion that you can get from being in front of a computer a lot, you know?
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, I can definitely tell because I mean I think the scent is also something for me that like I'm very sensitive to like smells, you know.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: Like I've I always say, like, for example, like I can't eat fish because my sense of smell is so highly tied to my sense of taste.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: So, like for me, anything that I smell, it really brings me into like a a way of feeling, you know, it's not just about like I'm smelling this, but like so when I do what you recommend, which is open the open the bot, you know, the can and then smell it, I really do feel centered.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: I feel like the smell is very like fresh and it's very, it puts you in almost like just like I said, a present state.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: So I think I make sense everything you're saying.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and you know, I mean, when I create a fragrance for any one of our products, I am I'm not just kind of going for a pretty fragrance.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: I'm I want a functional fragrance.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: I want something that is going to help people sort of mentally something like this with mental clarity, but also to spiritually and emotionally uplift them.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: So whenever I'm blending anything, there's like four levels I'm looking at the physical problem, the emotional problem, the mental problem, and and where I want to take them spiritually, because from my perspective, people ought to actually go out to balance spiritually first, because when their spirit is depleted or flattened, that's when they start to become a little bit rigid in their thinking or hypercritical, and then if you continue with that rigidity, it then affects your emotions because you're not flowing, and then finally, if none of those levels are attended to, you start to get physical niggles.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: So that might be a headache or stiff shoulders and neck to start with, but if not addressed, it then becomes something more serious.
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: So that is the process I go through all the time when I create a fragrance.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: So with the crystal clear, I mean that has really lovely um oils in it, it has mechang, which is also known as Litzia kubiba, and that is an oil, it's it's the very zingy lemony thing you can get in there.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's it's it's called the oil of tranquility, so it's uplifting, but it's it's not depleting, it's also got rosewood in there, and rosewood is uh for me a refreshing oil, but it's an oil of courage, so it's giving you the courage to continue and and be brave and be creative and do the best you can, uh you know, and it's got another new age oil called fragonia in there, and fragonia was only discovered a few years ago, um, and it's from the tea tree family, but it's a little bit softer than the tea tree.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: Tea tree is quite a hard smell to yeah, it's like pretty harsh.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: I know I've smelled it before.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so this is much softer, and they found that it was actually growing near the water, but it's it's thought to be a new age oil because it deals very, very uh effectively with anxiety on every level, whether it's physical anxiety, emotional, mental, or spiritual anxiety.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: So I love that.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: Um kind of gives you an idea of how my brain works.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: You know, I'm always looking to see, let's let's sort the problem.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: So, like with your comfort rump, let's let's improve the situation physically, but also let's work internally because you've got Arnica in there that's they're going to be working on your bruising, and then you're working on the inflammation as well.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: And inflammation happens not just on a physical level, but on an emotional level too.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: No, I I completely agree with you, and you know, I know that the medical community is just so black and white, and I've always been one of those people that just doesn't agree with that because everything that we're talking about right now, I think is so important in terms of just overall health because no one addresses the idea of energy, you know what I mean?
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: Like no one talks about like the imbalance and what that leads to in terms of like manifesting itself into like actual physical diseases and pathologies.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: And, you know, I I know that there's been so much work done by like, for example, Buddhist monks have proven it, you know, through their stuff, like through the meditation studies that we've seen, you know, we've we have the experiments like the double slit experiment, which is the observer effect, you know, we've got physics supporting this, we've got, you know, we have so many um facets of science really backing this idea that, you know, if you want to be overall healthy, if you want something that you have to really think of it from an energetic, you know, uh perspective.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: So I wanna I wanna get your advice for everyone listening that might not be, you know, I don't want to say believer, but might be a little bit of a skeptic about how we can really approach this idea of you know putting energy first before we put everything up.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: Because I think that really is at the heart of so much, not just you know what I mean, like it's at the heart of a lot of things.
- 17:13SPEAKER_02: So well, I mean, the the the very nature that we are alive is because we have a vital flow of energy.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: So the Indians call it Prana, um, the Chinese call it qi, and that vital energy is if you like, you know, if you had a tyre, you have to fill it with air in order for the tyre to work, and our bodies need that that energy to actually function, and the Chinese describe it is when um it describes qi uh uh as matter on the ver uh it it's energy on the verge of becoming matter.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: So if you do any kind of arts like qigong or tai qi, you can often feel it, you know, you can feel this vitality, but everything in life is made up of these signatures, it's just that some are finer and we can't see it, you can't see sound, but you can measure sound.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Exactly, yeah.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: Do you see what I mean?
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: And sorry, I was just gonna say, and quantum physics, as you you said a minute ago, is beginning to kind of show that there is a science to it.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: It's just that I think traditional medicine based itself in such an empirical way.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: I think there are a lot of integrated doctors now beginning to surface who are beginning to understand the nature of this multi-disciplined level of healing, you know.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: And I think that it is absolutely crucial at this point to be like that because, you know, uh speaking of quantum physics, like, you know, that's always been one of my, I guess, um, you know, hobby reading areas, you know, subjects.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: I've always loved it.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: I've been I've dove into it very early on, and and I completely agree.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: The more and more we learn about quantum physics and physics in general, we realize that you know, everything is the basis of everything is this energy that cannot be measured.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: It cannot be quantified in, you know what I mean, like in the ways that we know right now.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And even when it comes to our senses, we have so much, you know, we don't know enough.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: Like, for example, the mantis shrimp can see like 48 more colors than we can, you know what I mean?
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: So it's like, yeah, it makes you think like there's just like what are we surrounded by, right?
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Like we can't, we can't just go by, okay.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Well, we see this or we hear this or we feel this.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: No, the the medium in which we are like immersed, which is space, like we don't know anything about it.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: So to completely negate the idea that energy and um balancing energy isn't important, that's that's just you know, I think that's ludicrous, and I think we have to open our minds to that.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: So I agree with you.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think it's just got a lot of press, uh bad press because I as you say we haven't got the vocabulary, the correct correct vocabulary to describe it, but it is this kind of subtle energetic that keeps, I mean, our bodies are miracles, you know.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: How do they keep moving in the way that they move?
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: And the only time they stop really working very well is when things aren't flowing, and those are energy blocks in our body.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: So, what we then do is we find a way of smoothing them, and those energy blocks can happen obviously with physical trauma, but they can also happen with emotional trauma as well, you know, and spiritual trauma, you know, because I just don't think we've been educated to think of how sensitive we are because we've grown up with this belief system that we uh we are isolated from nature, and it's only now that we're beginning to embrace the idea that we're part of it all.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: It's just everything works at different modalities and different frequencies.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: It's kind of a lesson the world, I think it's a kind of lesson we're learning as as a planet, aren't we, that we need to embrace and just just rejoice in people's differences rather than um yeah look at the set separation all the time.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: So I completely agree.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: No, I completely 100% agree with you.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: And you know, I actually want to share a story because I think for me this was such a turning point.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: I remember um before I went into my my um you know medical school side of things, I was I got a master's in medical physiology, and we had a cardiology, she was the top cardiologist um at the time in Cleveland Clinic.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: She came in and on day one of the lecture, she's talking about the heart, and she said, Now, let me tell you guys this for all of you that are.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: very, you know, fact-based and stuff.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: She said, the reason I went into cardiology is because we still don't know what causes the heart to start beating.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: It just randomly during embryology just starts to beat.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: And that it's that for me, for some reason, like I don't know what that did to my brain, but I was like so fascinated and so intrigued.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: And here's this woman that's so, you know what I mean?
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: She's so medically like, you know, accomplished, but she's sitting here saying, we don't know, you know, we don't know where that energy comes from that causes it to just start beating all of a sudden.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: So there's so many question marks and there's so many gray areas.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: So I that's why I'm just, I love what you're doing.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: I love this line.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: I mean I can honestly say, you know, with the the um the crystals and the the clarity um the crystal clear product I love it.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: I keep it on my desk like you suggested, you know, I um you know I smell it when I need to just refocus and just kind of reset my brain and it really does help me.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: And I think for everyone listening, you know, you need to like I think if you open your mind to things you'll find that like you know there are a lot more solutions out there than we think that there aren't, you know?
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: So I I I think that's also part of um you know sometimes I think we we've been brought up in in in a system that makes us look to doctors or to medicine to help us to repair us.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: And actually the responsibility or the ability to respond to things that are out of kilter is with you.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: You know you're very empowered to kind of change and transform yourself.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: You know and I really honor to I I think that's one of the uh a major tenant of this um this range is I believe everyone can transform you know nobody is stuck you you can refine anything and make it shinier.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: I completely agree I completely agree and I and I hope everyone listening I hope you guys really take heed to some of the things that Michelle has uh shared with us because this is such a wonderful wonderful area of you know knowledge and wisdom that we just kind of I I don't want to say ignore but we kind of look over as a society and I think it the more and more we we pay heed and you know just really try to understand the more solutions we're gonna come up with.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: So Michelle I want to thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me and explain this.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah I didn't expect to be going up quite off on all of these tangents but I I I really enjoy it because you know it's a like you it's a fascination for me.
