- 0:25Hello, listeners, and welcome back to Sandman Stories
- 0:27Presents, a folklore podcast where I read you to sleep more
- 0:30until the next story. I'm your host, Dustin.
- 0:33Today we are back in the book of Georgian folklore written down
- 0:36by Marjorie Wardrobe. The main character, Yves de
- 0:41Savari, has a name that doesn't roll off the tongue easily for
- 0:44me. So besides the grammar, the
- 0:46other thing I changed is the main character's name to God's
- 0:49Son, which is close to the meaning of I am of God.
- 0:54In this story there are Devi's who are a lot like the Perry's
- 0:57of Turkey. Kind of think of an ogre or
- 0:59something like that. In this story a king tries to
- 1:03protect his daughter but it backfires.
- 1:06Luckily if this Savari AKA godson can overcome every
- 1:11obstacle, but can he overcome his own mother wanting him dead?
- 1:16OK let's begin. If this Savari I'm of God, there
- 1:24once was a king who had a daughter so beautiful that he
- 1:27was in constant fear lest someone should carry her away by
- 1:30force and marry her. So he had a huge tower built in
- 1:34the sea. He shut his daughter up in this
- 1:37tower, with an intendant of course, and felt relieved.
- 1:42Sometime had passed when one day the attendant noticed something
- 1:45floating on the water. She was surprised when she saw
- 1:49that it was a large apple. She stretched out her dress and
- 1:53the sea waves left the apple in her skirt.
- 1:56She took it in her hand and ran to her mistress.
- 2:00The beautiful maiden had never seen such a Big Apple in all of
- 2:04her life and was very much astonished.
- 2:08After dinner, she peeled it, gave some to her companion, who
- 2:11quickly finished it and ate the rest herself.
- 2:16In a short time they both became pregnant.
- 2:19The king was informed of this. On hearing the news, he pressed
- 2:23his head between his hands and he could not contain his wrath.
- 2:27He commanded one of his Huntsman saying, Go to the tower in the
- 2:30sea, take my daughter and her companion and carry them to the
- 2:33wildest, most deserted spot in my Kingdom.
- 2:36Kill them and bring me their hearts and livers to show me
- 2:39that they are dead. No one must know this story save
- 2:42you and me. If it becomes known, it shall
- 2:44cost you your life. The Huntsman went to the tower
- 2:49and declared the King's orders to the Princess and their
- 2:51companion. The beautiful maiden said, What
- 2:56good is it to kill us? Take us to a lonely place, and
- 2:59no one will know whether we are dead or alive.
- 3:02The Huntsman was not moved by these entreaties.
- 3:05He took them to a deserted place, drew out his dagger, and
- 3:08was about to strike the fatal blow.
- 3:10But at the last moment he felt sorry for them, and he gave up
- 3:14his intention. He caught two hairs, killed them
- 3:18instead of the women, took out their hearts and livers, and
- 3:20returned them to the king. The king believed them to be the
- 3:23hearts and livers of the Princess and her attendant, and
- 3:26he gave the Huntsman gifts and sent him away.
- 3:30The Princess and her companion were left alone in the wild
- 3:33wood, and they had nothing to eat or drink.
- 3:36In a short time the Princess brought forth a beautiful boy
- 3:39and the intendant 8 tiny little dogs.
- 3:43The Princess called her son Yvtis Savari.
- 3:46I am of God. He grew up as much in a day as
- 3:50other children grow in a year. He became so handsome, brave and
- 3:54strong that everybody loved him. Godson used to go out hunting.
- 3:59He took his dogs with them and provided game for his mother and
- 4:01her companion. Once he went to town to a Smith
- 4:07and asked him to make bows and arrows.
- 4:09The Smith made a bow and arrows from 9 liitres of iron around 80
- 4:13lbs. Godson bent it.
- 4:17Then the Smith added more iron and made the bow again.
- 4:20God's son slung his arrows over his shoulders.
- 4:23His dogs followed him and he went away.
- 4:26On the way he haunted and took food home for his mother.
- 4:31The next day he went to hunt again.
- 4:32He shot an arrow and killed a goat.
- 4:35He shot another and killed a stag.
- 4:37He drew his bow a third time and this arrow stuck in the Debbie's
- 4:40house. In this house there were 5
- 4:44Debbie's. 1-2 headed, 13 headed, 15 headed, 19 headed and 110
- 4:51headed and their mother who only had one head.
- 4:56They saw an arrow suddenly fall down and stick into the fire.
- 5:00They all jumped up and pulled at the arrow to draw it out, but
- 5:03they were not able to move it. The mother helped them but it
- 5:07was of no use at all. Then all the brothers rose up
- 5:11and they left their mother to watch and to set out to seek him
- 5:14who had shot the arrow. Got some thought for a moment
- 5:18and set out. He followed the flight of the
- 5:21arrow to see where it had fallen.
- 5:24He went on and on until he came to the Devi's house.
- 5:27He looked in and saw a fire burning in the middle with his
- 5:29arrow stuck in the middle. He went in and was about to draw
- 5:33the arrow out when the Devi's mother cried.
- 5:36Who are you, Wretch? Who dares to venture here?
- 5:40Aren't you afraid that I shall eat you?
- 5:44You shall not eat me, said God's son, drawing out his arrow and
- 5:47hurling at the old woman. He cut her into 100 pieces, gave
- 5:51her to the dogs and told them to throw her into the sea.
- 5:55He lay down at the Debbie's house and rested.
- 5:58The Debbie's wandered far and wide in their search, but
- 6:01nowhere could they learn any tidings of a man who they were
- 6:04looking for. Then they said, Perhaps someone
- 6:08will enter our house and steal while we are here.
- 6:11Let one of us go home and the rest watch here.
- 6:15Each wished to go and promised to run back as quickly as
- 6:17possible, but the Debbie's chose the two headed brother and sent
- 6:20him. The two headed brother came and
- 6:24saw that his mother was no longer there, but in her place
- 6:27was a strange youth. He clapped him on the shoulder
- 6:31and cried out. Who are you, Wretch?
- 6:33Who dares to venture here for fear of me?
- 6:36Birds cannot fly under heaven, nor ants crawl on the earth.
- 6:39Aren't you afraid that I shall eat you?
- 6:42You shall not eat me? Said godson, shooting an arrow.
- 6:46He cut the Debbie into 100 pieces and gave him to the dogs
- 6:49and made them throw him into the sea.
- 6:53The four remaining Debbie's waited for the 200 brother to
- 6:55come, but he did not come. They thought that perhaps he was
- 6:59staying eating him who had shot the arrow, so they sent the
- 7:02three headed brother. The three headed Debbie came
- 7:05home and found neither his mother nor brother, and called
- 7:08out. For fear of me.
- 7:10Birds cannot fly in the air, nor can ants creep on the earth.
- 7:13Who are you that dares to venture here?
- 7:15Aren't you afraid that I shall eat you?
- 7:18You shall not eat me, said God's son.
- 7:20Casting an arrow. He cut him into 100 pieces, gave
- 7:24him to the dogs, and made them throw a mountain into the sea.
- 7:28The remaining brothers waited and waited.
- 7:30Then they sent the five headed Debbie.
- 7:33He too boasted, But God's Son did unto him that day even as he
- 7:36had done unto the others. Then the 9 headed Devi went.
- 7:40The same thing befell him as his brothers.
- 7:43The 10 headed Devi was now the only one left.
- 7:46He thought to himself, My brothers are probably eating and
- 7:50will not leave anything for me. He rose and went to.
- 7:56He went in and saw that his mother and brothers were not
- 7:58there. Instead there was a strange
- 8:01youth lying down resting. The Devi called out, For fear of
- 8:06me. The birds in heaven dare not fly
- 8:09on earth, the ants dare not crawl.
- 8:11Who are you who dares to venture here?
- 8:14Aren't you afraid that I shall eat you?
- 8:17You shall not eat me, said God's Son, throwing an arrow and
- 8:20killing him. He drew off his sword and cut
- 8:23off his heads, and gave him to the dog to throw into the sea.
- 8:27God's Son was left master of the field.
- 8:29Then he said to himself, I will go and bring my mother and her
- 8:32companion here, and I should live here as I like.
- 8:36He went forth and brought them, and settled in the house and
- 8:38prepared for the chase from the sea.
- 8:42There staggered forth the last 10 headed Devi, who hid under a
- 8:45tree. When God's Son had cut off his
- 8:48heads in his haste, he had left the 10th one on.
- 8:52Now it was in this head that the soul was placed.
- 8:55So the Devi came out onto the shore full of wrath.
- 9:00The next day, God's Son again went out hunting.
- 9:03His mother, wishing to see the surroundings, went out into the
- 9:05house, into the garden. As she walked about, the Devi
- 9:08suddenly appeared at the foot of a tree.
- 9:11The Devi pleaded, saying, Do not give me up, do not tell your son
- 9:15that I'm hidden here. God's son's mother promised.
- 9:19And when God's son went out to the chase, his mother always
- 9:22took food and drink to the Devi, and at last she loved him.
- 9:28Once the Devi said to her, Why should we live like this?
- 9:32We see each other only in secret, and I'm continually in
- 9:35terror of your son. Go home now, lie in your bed and
- 9:38pretend to be ill. When your son comes home and
- 9:41asks you what's the matter, say to him, go to such and such
- 9:45place and bring me some pieces of stag's horns as a remedy.
- 9:49When your son goes out to the stag, it will butt him with its
- 9:52horns, and then you and I shall remain here alone.
- 9:57The woman agreed to this plan, went in and lay down in her bed.
- 10:02Godzin came home and seeing his mother sick, he said to her,
- 10:05What is the matter? Tell me what will cure you, and
- 10:08I will find it, even if it's bird's milk.
- 10:12His mother said, If you can bring to me a piece of such and
- 10:18such a stag's horn from a certain place, I shall be well,
- 10:23if not, I shall die. God's son slung his bow and
- 10:30arrows over his shoulder, and took his dogs and set out.
- 10:34When he had gone some way, he came to an immense wide plain,
- 10:37where he saw a stag feeding. It had such large horns that
- 10:41they reached to heaven. He sat down and took out an
- 10:45arrow. Just as he was about to let it
- 10:48fly, the stag made a sign and cried out.
- 10:50God's Son, Godson, why shoot at me?
- 10:54What have I done to deserve this from you?
- 10:56Don't you know that your mother has deceived you?
- 10:59She seeks your ruin, therefore she has sent you here.
- 11:03Behold, here is a piece of my horn.
- 11:05Take it. And here's one of my hares.
- 11:07Take it with you also. And when you're in trouble,
- 11:10think of me and I shall be there.
- 11:13God's son thanked this stag joyfully and went away.
- 11:17He went home with the stag's horn to his mother.
- 11:19She took it and thanked him again.
- 11:22The next day God's son went to the chase.
- 11:25His mother immediately hastened to the Devi, and said, Godson
- 11:28has returned unharmed, and has brought the stag's horn.
- 11:32Well, said the Devi, pretend to be as ill as before, and tell
- 11:36him that you must bring a wild boar's bristle from such and
- 11:39such a place, else there is no cure for you.
- 11:43The woman ran in, lay down in bed, and began to moan.
- 11:48Godson returned, and seeing his mother, I'll, he asked her, What
- 11:51is this, mother? What heals you?
- 11:54Tell me what will cure you. And even bird's milk I will not
- 11:57leave unfound. If you seek in such and such a
- 12:01place, and bring me a bristle from a certain wild boar, then I
- 12:06will be well. If not, I shall die.
- 12:11May your God's son die if he does not find this.
- 12:14Said God's Son. Slinging his bow and arrows on
- 12:17his shoulders, and taking his dogs, he set forth on the quest.
- 12:23He went a long way and came into the woods.
- 12:26There he found the boar's lair, but there was no boar.
- 12:30He went on a little and saw another lair, but again there
- 12:33was no boar in it. He went away once more, and saw
- 12:37the boar itself. It had changed its lair twice,
- 12:40and now it lay in a third. Godson approached.
- 12:43It took him with an arrow, but as he was about to let it fly,
- 12:46the boar cried out. Godson, Godson, what have I done
- 12:50to harm you? Why kill me?
- 12:54Don't you know that your mother has deceived you?
- 12:57She wishes for your death, and therefore she has sent you here.
- 13:01But since you would like a bristle, pull out as many as you
- 13:04wish and take them with you. God's son came up, took a
- 13:08bristle and was going away, when the boar took out a hair and
- 13:11gave it to him, and said, Here is a hair for you.
- 13:15When you are in trouble, Remember Me and I shall come to
- 13:18you. God's Son took the hair, thanked
- 13:21the boar, and went away. He came home, gave his mother
- 13:25the bristle, and again hastened out to the chase.
- 13:28His mother ran immediately to the Devi and complainingly said,
- 13:33God's Son has returned unharmed, and he has brought me the boar's
- 13:36bristle. The Devi replied.
- 13:39Then go again, pretend to be ill, and say to God's Son, if
- 13:44you will go to a certain place where a certain Griffin known as
- 13:47the Fasco Dunzi lives, and bring me the flesh of its young, I
- 13:52shall be well, if not, I shall die.
- 13:55You know he cannot do that, and you and I shall stay here
- 13:58together. The woman rejoiced, ran quickly
- 14:02back to bed, and began to moan. Godson came in, saw his mother
- 14:06in bed, and asked the 'cause his mother replied, as the Devi had
- 14:10commanded. Godson answered, Then may Godson
- 14:14die if he does not find what you wish for.
- 14:17And he went away. He went on and on, and at last
- 14:21came to a plane where stood a very big tree whose top
- 14:25stretched to heaven. On a branch there was a nest,
- 14:29from which the fledglings peeped out.
- 14:33Then from far away in the sky there appeared a huge strange
- 14:36bird, something like an eagle. It swooped down and was just
- 14:40about to seize the young birds, and Godson drew his bow and
- 14:43killed it. Just then appeared the Griffin,
- 14:46mother of the young ones. She thought Godson was her enemy
- 14:50and was about to seize him, but her fledglings cried out that he
- 14:53had killed the bird that would have drunk their blood and had
- 14:56saved them. Although the Griffin did not
- 14:59bring up more than three birds in a year, yet she was in
- 15:02constant terror until they had learned to fly, because the same
- 15:05bird used to seize them and eat them.
- 15:09When she learned that Godson had killed their cruel enemy, she
- 15:11came to him and said, Tell me what you wish for.
- 15:15You come here and I will immediately satisfy your desire.
- 15:19Godson said, I have a mother who is ill.
- 15:22Unless I take her the young Griffin's flesh, she will die.
- 15:26The Griffin said in reply, Your mother deceives you and is not
- 15:30I'll at all. She seeks your death.
- 15:33Here are my fledglings. If you want them, but do not
- 15:36kill them, take them with you alive.
- 15:39She pulled out a feather and gave it to him, saying, Take
- 15:43this with you, and when you were in trouble, think of me, and I
- 15:46shall be there. God's son thanked her heartily,
- 15:50took away a fledgling, and went home.
- 15:55He came in, gave the young Griffin to his mother, who said,
- 15:58Now, my child, I am quite well, and shall want nothing else, And
- 16:02she sent him away. God's son went out hunting the
- 16:07devil went out hastily to the devil and complained.
- 16:10God's son has brought me the fledgling, and he himself has
- 16:12returned alive. The Devi was angry, but he
- 16:16calmed down and said, When God's son comes in, tell him he must
- 16:20be bathed, and when he sits down in the tub, put a cover over him
- 16:25and call for me. I will come and hammer down the
- 16:27lid and throw him into the sea. The woman rejoiced at the plan,
- 16:32went in and heated the water. When God's son came in, his
- 16:36mother said, Come child, I will bathe you.
- 16:38It has been some time since you were bathed.
- 16:42God's Son did not like this, but at last he consented.
- 16:46He sat down in the tub. His mother shut the lid and
- 16:49called in the Devi. The Devi ran in and hammered
- 16:53down in the lid. Then he lifted the tub up and
- 16:55rolled it into the sea. Godson's dog saw this.
- 17:00They went to the edge of the water and barked.
- 17:02They barked until the very stones might have been moved
- 17:05with their pity. Then they said, Let us go and
- 17:07seek our friends. They may perchance help us. 4
- 17:11remained and four went to seek his friends.
- 17:14They came to the stag, then the boar, then the gryphon.
- 17:17These all arose and immediately went to the water's edge.
- 17:21They thought and planned and at last decided what to do.
- 17:25They said to the gryphon, Fly up high and strike and cleave the
- 17:29water with your wings. The tub will appear, the stag
- 17:33will throw it onto the shore with his horns, then the boar
- 17:36will strike it with his Tusk. The tub will break open and
- 17:39godson will come forth. So they all did as they were
- 17:42told. The Griffin flew up high in the
- 17:45air, beat with its wings as hard as it could, and it cleft the
- 17:49sea into three. The tub was seen, and the stag
- 17:52did not let it fall, but threw it with its horns and let it
- 17:55down on the shore. Then the boar struck it, crying
- 17:59out. God's son, lie down in the
- 18:01bottom. He struck it with his Tusk and
- 18:04broke the tub, and God's Son came forth unharmed.
- 18:10After this the friends went away, each to his own home.
- 18:13Godson remained thinking. Just then a ragged swineherd
- 18:18came along. Godson said to the swineherd,
- 18:22Come, give me your clothes, I will put them on.
- 18:25The swineherd was afraid and thought, This stranger will take
- 18:28my coat and not give me his, and he ran away.
- 18:33Godson pursued him, took off his clothes and put them on himself.
- 18:37He gave the man his coat and left him with his dogs and went
- 18:40away. He came home as if you were a
- 18:43beggar and asked alms of his mother.
- 18:47When the Devi saw him, he looked at him ferociously and said, Go
- 18:51back to the place where you came from, lest I do to you as you
- 18:54deserve. Just then God's son saw his bow
- 18:58and arrow in the corner and cried out.
- 19:00We shall see who goes, I am God's son.
- 19:04Saying this, he drew his bow, shot first the Devi and then his
- 19:06mother, killing them both. Then he went to the companion,
- 19:10scolded her for not warning him, and killed her too.
- 19:13He went away, brought his dogs and returned to the house to
- 19:16rest. There came then no one knows
- 19:20from where, a certain youth. He saw his father and mother and
- 19:23their servant were all killed and asked Godson to a fight.
- 19:28He was Godson's mother by the Devi.
- 19:31Godson did not know this, and came to the combat A long time
- 19:35they struggled, and a long time they strove, but neither could
- 19:38strike the other. Then Godson said, Come, friend,
- 19:43let us each tell the other his story, and afterwards we can
- 19:45fight good. Very well, they said, and each
- 19:49told each other his tale. When Godson learned that this
- 19:54was his own brother, he said It is indeed fortunate that we told
- 19:58our tales first, for if we had killed each other, there would
- 20:01have been no help for it. After this, the two brothers
- 20:05went to the house and they lived happily together.
- 20:09Once Godson said to his younger brother, Let us go brother, and
- 20:13seek our fortunes. We should become like old women
- 20:15if we live like this. I'm willing, replied the
- 20:18younger. So they set out.
- 20:22They wandered on until they came to a place where two roads met.
- 20:251 led to the right and the other to the left.
- 20:29In the middle of the road stood a stone pillar on which was
- 20:31written. Whoever goes to the left will
- 20:33come back, but he who goes to the right will never return.
- 20:38Godson took to the road to his right, and his brother went to
- 20:41the left. Godson said, Know that if the
- 20:44water on the roof changes into blood, I shall be in trouble.
- 20:48Come then to my aid. If the water on my roof turns
- 20:52into blood, I shall come and help you in your trouble.
- 20:55Then they divided the dogs, each took four, said farewell, and
- 20:58set out. God's Son went until he came to
- 21:02the shore of the sea, so vast the eye could not measure it. 12
- 21:07men were on this side, and 12:00 on that.
- 21:09Whoever comes to the sea must jump over it.
- 21:12If he leaps over it without getting his feet wet, he may
- 21:14marry the King's daughter, who is very beautiful.
- 21:18If not, he is drowned in the sea, and whoever dares not jump
- 21:22at all is seized by Sentinels and taken before the king.
- 21:28God's son came, and the Sentinels told him the
- 21:29conditions. God's son took a spring with all
- 21:33his might and leaped over so that not a drop of water touched
- 21:36him. He saw on the other side the
- 21:38Sentinels, and they told him that they must take him before
- 21:41the king. When the king saw him, he
- 21:44rejoiced and gave him his fair daughter to wife.
- 21:48That night God's son asked his wife, Where is the best hunting
- 21:52to be had in the Kingdom? She replied, If you go to the
- 21:56left, you will return. If you go to the right, you will
- 21:58never return. The next morning Godson arose at
- 22:02Daybreak, took his bow and arrow, and went to the right.
- 22:07He shot an arrow and killed a hare, tied its feet and left it.
- 22:10He shot another arrow and killed a stag.
- 22:13He bound its feet together and left it two.
- 22:16He shot a third arrow and it stuck in a burning fire.
- 22:20He went on and on until he reached this fire.
- 22:22Then he killed a stag, put it on the fire, and sat down at the
- 22:26side. He roasted some meat, ate some,
- 22:30and gave some to his dogs. Behold, a toothless old woman
- 22:34appeared. She begged Godson to give her
- 22:37something to eat. He did so.
- 22:40He ate, but the old woman ate 10 times more.
- 22:44For every mouthful Godson took, she took a basket full.
- 22:48Godson looked on in amazement. The old woman finished all the
- 22:52food. Then she took a little stone and
- 22:54threw it at Godson's bow and arrow.
- 22:56They turned into stone and fell to the ground.
- 22:59Then she took the little stone and threw it at the dogs, who
- 23:01also became petrified. She took them one by one into
- 23:05her hand and swallowed them. God's Son was stupefied.
- 23:10He seized his bow and arrow to kill the woman, but he could not
- 23:13move it. It fell down to the earth.
- 23:15Then the old woman turned her stone towards God's son, who
- 23:18lost his strength and became corpse like.
- 23:21The old woman lifted him up in her hand and swallowed him.
- 23:25At that moment the water changed to blood, and the younger
- 23:28brother knew that God's son had fallen into misfortune and set
- 23:31out to help him. When he had gone some way, he
- 23:35came to the water's edge, on each side of which stood 12
- 23:38Sentinels. He leaped across.
- 23:42The Sentinels were surprised. They thought it was God's Son
- 23:44and asked him where he was coming from and where he was
- 23:46going. The youth told them nothing and
- 23:50did not let them know who he was.
- 23:52He came to the King that night. He was given his brother's wife,
- 23:56but he laid down and put a sword between them and did not touch
- 23:59her. Then he asked her where is the
- 24:02best haunting? She replied, If you go to the
- 24:06left you will return, if to the right you will never return.
- 24:10Do not go. Did I not tell you the same
- 24:12thing yesterday? I asked you, and I went one way,
- 24:16but I did not like it, so now I ask you again, said the youth.
- 24:20He rose the next morning and went to the right hand.
- 24:24He had gone a little way, and he saw a dead hare with his feet
- 24:27bound. He went on farther and saw a
- 24:29dead stag with its feet bound. He said to himself, My brother
- 24:34must have come this way. This is some of the game he has
- 24:36killed. He went on again and saw the
- 24:39fire burning. Beside it lay Godson's bow and
- 24:43arrow. And he said to himself, Here my
- 24:45brother has met his fate. Then he killed some game and
- 24:49roasted on the fire. There appeared from who knows
- 24:53where the same old woman. She sat down and waited for her
- 24:57share of the roast meat. In eating the old woman's
- 25:01behavior was the same as before. When she had finished the food,
- 25:04she was still hungry. She took a little stone and
- 25:07lifted it to throw at the dogs. The youth thought to himself,
- 25:11This must have been the way that this old woman swallowed my
- 25:14brother Godson. He sees the old woman by the
- 25:17throat, cleft her open, and took out Godson and his dogs.
- 25:22Then he killed the old woman and poured her blood over God's son,
- 25:24the dogs, and the bow and arrow. God's son and his dogs came back
- 25:28to life, and the bow and arrow were raised from the earth.
- 25:32When God's son woke to the consciousness, he said, Oh, I've
- 25:35had such a dream that his brother said that was not a
- 25:39dream, and he told him what had happened.
- 25:43God's son rejoiced, and they both went to their new kinsman,
- 25:46the king. On the way God's son was very
- 25:49melancholy, for he thought that his brother must have married
- 25:52his wife. His brother looked at him and
- 25:55said, May this arrow strike me on the part of my body that has
- 25:58touched your wife, and kill me. Thus spoke God's son's brother
- 26:03and threw up an arrow. It fell, struck him in the
- 26:06little finger, and he died. God's son left, his brother went
- 26:10in, and when he had learned all was deeply grieved, he went out
- 26:14no one knows where, founded mortal water, and brought his
- 26:17brother back to life. Then he found him a fair wife,
- 26:21and they dwelt together, happy and fraternal affection and in
- 26:25love. The end.
- 26:54Another epic from Georgia again. Yet the Savari is easier now.
- 26:59But if the Savari, when you've got to say it two or three times
- 27:03in a sentence, really gets difficult.
- 27:06I love the twists and turns and how God's son and his brother
- 27:10came together right after God's son had slain the only family he
- 27:12knew. The stone slash Medusa type lady
- 27:16was interesting to see as well. If anyone has tips on how to
- 27:19pronounce GHUVTHISAVIRI, you are more than welcome to shoot me an
- 27:26e-mail at Sam and Stories presents@gmail.com.
- 27:30Also, this episode will come out closest to my birthday.
- 27:32So happy birthday to me July 15th.
- 27:36And you know what I would like for my birthday?
- 27:38Go tell a friend about the show or a stranger if that's easier.
- 27:42And the podcast shout out is to the Appalachian Folklore Podcast
- 27:46hosted by Aaron. This podcast goes through
- 27:49different folklore that you might encounter if you were in
- 27:51the Appalachian Mountains. It was really cool to learn
- 27:54about this part of the world so close to my home relatively.
- 27:58Now, this show hasn't put out a new episode in about six months,
- 28:02so you might just have to binge what he has and ask him for new
- 28:05episodes. But if you like his show as much
- 28:07as I do, give him a like rating and a review.
- 28:11And the listener shout out is to the Belgian city of Namur in the
- 28:14French speaking province called Wallonia.
- 28:17The Wallon. The name is the same as in Wales
- 28:19and walnuts and it means foreign.
- 28:21The area passed back and forth between empires, including the
- 28:24Spanish Netherlands. It looks like an interesting
- 28:26place and the castle overlooking the river would be a lot of fun
- 28:29to spend the night in. They have a language that is
- 28:32somewhere between a language and a dialect.
- 28:36So some say it's French, some say it's Walloon.
- 28:41It's a distinct language. You know, linguists are always
- 28:44like, is it a language? Is it a dialect?
- 28:46So I will say to my listener in Namur merci E boni, thank you
- 28:53and good night.
