- 0:00Speaker 1: A bit a minute since you caught up with this guy,
- 0:02Speaker 1: and if you follow him on.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Social media, he's busy, uh, writing massive hit songs, doing
- 0:07Speaker 2: massive shows, Uh, being a dad, Uh, creating content, getting
- 0:12Speaker 2: on the TikTok a little bit.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I don't even know.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I haven't paid attention. I don't know about that last one.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I tried.
- 0:18Speaker 3: I tried myself, dude. I'm good.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Thank you for making time, dude. I know you're busy,
- 0:22Speaker 2: and of course, man, and when you're home you get
- 0:25Speaker 2: to be a dad. So yeah, I'm a bit of
- 0:28Speaker 2: time from that.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Of course, dude.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We were just talking about AI a second ago and
- 0:32Speaker 2: as AI started popping off, uh and you know, becoming
- 0:35Speaker 2: like almost its own language.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I remember specifically.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Your manager Tracker was like, you got hey, I said
- 0:43Speaker 2: something AI goes. Oh you should bring up AI because
- 0:45Speaker 2: obviously as a song.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Right, we talked about that last time, right, Yeah, as.
- 0:48Speaker 1: A songwriter, that's something you're going to be super passionate about.
- 0:50Speaker 2: AI has grown even more since you and I talked
- 0:52Speaker 2: last to the point where like there's people I got
- 0:55Speaker 2: a friend who is sending me his AI songs to
- 0:58Speaker 2: tell you that I tell you about that, Dan and
- 1:00Speaker 2: he's making AI songs, and so I'm like, I'm like,
- 1:03Speaker 2: don't don't send that to me because I don't like, Bro,
- 1:05Speaker 2: you're killing if you can't sing, don't let the computer sing.
- 1:09Speaker 2: F So, knowing how much AI has even changed just
- 1:12Speaker 2: from the songwriting aspect and now it's it's recording music,
- 1:16Speaker 2: how do you stand on the whole like it's a
- 1:18Speaker 2: tool versus like it's use I think.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It's a It's a great tool that's.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Being used the wrong way. It's just like drugs or
- 1:25Speaker 4: anything else, not actual drugs. Sorry, we came in here
- 1:29Speaker 4: talking about drugs medicine.
- 1:32Speaker 3: You know, I don't know I feel about that anyway.
- 1:34Speaker 1: But Kelly.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Kelly's mystery drug that she's trying to describe.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Okay, So I Charlie Pooth, I'm borrowing this from Charlie Pooth.
- 1:45Speaker 4: But he said I saw him say that he thinks
- 1:47Speaker 4: that AI is a great tool, but we need to
- 1:49Speaker 4: use AI to make music that has never been made before,
- 1:53Speaker 4: as opposed to basically making like convenient music or to
- 1:56Speaker 4: like replicate music that's already been done and stuff like that. Yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 4: as a songwriter, I'm very aware that it is killing
- 2:07Speaker 4: musicians jobs. People that like tracking studios, jobs and stuff
- 2:12Speaker 4: like that. I completely and totally am aware of that,
- 2:16Speaker 4: and that's sad and that sucks.
- 2:18Speaker 3: But I truly believe and I will.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Stand on this that like there is when you like
- 2:24Speaker 4: a songwriter, somebody that sits down and writes the lyrics
- 2:27Speaker 4: and the melody and all that stuff, a lyric and
- 2:29Speaker 4: melody songwriter, there's something that comes from like the soul
- 2:35Speaker 4: or God or whatever you want to believe in.
- 2:37Speaker 3: There is something otherworldly about these people.
- 2:40Speaker 4: That can write a lyric and a melody that makes
- 2:42Speaker 4: people cry, that makes people do this that the other
- 2:44Speaker 4: that feel a certain way that I truly do not
- 2:46Speaker 4: believe for a very long time will be able to
- 2:49Speaker 4: be replicated by Aire's. That's my saving grace is that, Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 4: just that the ones that really the people that really
- 2:59Speaker 4: get the song writer and they just have that that
- 3:02Speaker 4: gift and that talent that's a god given thing and
- 3:05Speaker 4: it's just something that a robot or you know, AI
- 3:09Speaker 4: in general just can't replicate.
- 3:10Speaker 3: It's I've heard I've heard every AI.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Song and there's not been one that has moved me
- 3:15Speaker 4: or that has made me scared for my job as
- 3:18Speaker 4: a songwriter.
- 3:19Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 3:20Speaker 4: They can rhyme words and they can write melodies, but
- 3:22Speaker 4: there's songwriting is way, way, way more.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Than that as as somebody who is and I mean
- 3:29Speaker 2: I'm throwing a compliment in here because you're not just
- 3:31Speaker 2: a songwriter. I mean you've written some of the biggest
- 3:33Speaker 2: songs that country radio has played in the last ten years. Right,
- 3:39Speaker 2: Have you played with it at all to see what
- 3:41Speaker 2: it would do with something you've written versus what AI.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Would would do?
- 3:47Speaker 3: What do you like?
- 3:47Speaker 1: How give me a so like up down right?
- 3:50Speaker 2: Sure? As a big old hit, it was already done,
- 3:51Speaker 2: It was done your way, with some outside influence whatever.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Have you put something like that into AI to see
- 3:57Speaker 2: what AI, how AI would have would have affected the
- 4:01Speaker 2: outcome of the song?
- 4:02Speaker 3: Like have I like, have I like a song that's
- 4:04Speaker 3: already a hit?
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah, one that you've already had, like a.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Hit that's already happened. No, I never have. I've definitely
- 4:10Speaker 3: like recorded acoustic demos and random through AI just to
- 4:13Speaker 3: see what it sounds like with a.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Band, But I've never will it do that?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Can it do that?
- 4:20Speaker 4: So you can't, Okay, So as far as I know,
- 4:22Speaker 4: you can't say make and make this song sound like Hardy,
- 4:26Speaker 4: make this song sound.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Like Morgan Wiland.
- 4:27Speaker 4: But I could I could play up down acoustic and
- 4:30Speaker 4: say make it a reggae song, and it could do that.
- 4:31Speaker 3: All right, I'll go home tonight and I'll try that.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I'll let you know.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That's funny, okay man, and it's and it's I would
- 4:39Speaker 2: be foolish to not bring this up because one of
- 4:41Speaker 2: the biggest stories so far of twenty twenty six happened
- 4:45Speaker 2: at CMA Fest just a couple of days ago, and
- 4:47Speaker 2: you were a big part of you know, some of
- 4:50Speaker 2: these guys songs Florida Georgia line, what was that? What
- 4:54Speaker 2: was the reunion like for you? And and if they
- 4:56Speaker 2: got back together? Like country music has advanced a lot
- 5:00Speaker 2: since FGL in those few years, where is their spot now?
- 5:05Speaker 4: First of all, I'm I'm excited. I think the whole
- 5:07Speaker 4: world is excited. I selfishly, I want them to go
- 5:14Speaker 4: back to day one and just not start over, because
- 5:18Speaker 4: because they they've done such a good job evolving, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 4: which is great. And I think every great band in
- 5:24Speaker 4: the world changes slowly, changes their sound, and that opens
- 5:28Speaker 4: up another door for them to do what they want
- 5:30Speaker 4: in the future. But I think that what the people
- 5:33Speaker 4: want is here's to the good times and anything goes FGL.
- 5:38Speaker 3: That's like that's the that's what that's the stuff that.
- 5:41Speaker 4: People fell in love with, and that's the songwriting style.
- 5:45Speaker 4: This this video went viral and like has been stitched
- 5:48Speaker 4: or whatever you call it, like a bunch. But I
- 5:50Speaker 4: saw Lauren Watkins like a few months ago be like
- 5:53Speaker 4: I want to be called hot and I want to
- 5:55Speaker 4: be on a tailgate sitting next to a dude playing guitar,
- 5:58Speaker 4: and I like that's that was like a lot of
- 6:01Speaker 4: gave perspective to me because it's like, man, there's a
- 6:03Speaker 4: reason that they were so.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Big, and it's because not only girls, but it's like
- 6:09Speaker 3: some of these girls, like.
- 6:09Speaker 4: They enjoyed being called hot and being described like a
- 6:14Speaker 4: country beauty queen and all that kind of stuff. And
- 6:16Speaker 4: FGL was so good at doing that and and and
- 6:19Speaker 4: also they aside from like the girl thing, they were
- 6:23Speaker 4: very very good at just creating a party scene or
- 6:29Speaker 4: like creating a moment in the country nightlife lifestyle that
- 6:34Speaker 4: that made people want to play that music at the thing.
- 6:37Speaker 4: It's like it's like inception, where like the people wanted
- 6:39Speaker 4: to be doing the thing and playing the song about
- 6:41Speaker 4: the thing that they're doing, you know what I mean.
- 6:43Speaker 3: And FGL was just good at that, and that.
- 6:45Speaker 4: The writing, the color that those guys were writing in
- 6:47Speaker 4: the way that they they wrote it, like with those
- 6:49Speaker 4: Rodney Claus so a lot of those songwriters that they
- 6:51Speaker 4: were writing all that early stuff with.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Is just it's awesome and.
- 6:55Speaker 4: We're far enough away from it now for it to
- 6:57Speaker 4: feel nostalgic again, you know.
- 6:59Speaker 2: So I'm here for And it's funny because obviously we're
- 7:02Speaker 2: into June now, which is wild because I feel like
- 7:06Speaker 2: it was just like, oh, every New Year, everybody, But
- 7:10Speaker 2: it's uh, there we're waiting for like a summer jam,
- 7:14Speaker 2: a summer anthem, a big summer party song.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You don't have to confirm or deny, but has there
- 7:21Speaker 1: been a text thread.
- 7:22Speaker 2: That Hardy, Brian and Tyler getting together for a summer anthem?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yet?
- 7:25Speaker 3: No? Such a that almost sounds like you know something
- 7:28Speaker 3: I don't know, Bro, that was so specific. Well, I
- 7:32Speaker 3: want kidding, no, no, no.
- 7:34Speaker 4: And look, when it comes to like my involvement with them,
- 7:36Speaker 4: like if they come, like I said this earlier, I'm
- 7:40Speaker 4: sure that everybody and their mom is sending them every
- 7:42Speaker 4: bro country song they've ever written right now.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I'm sure it's driving them crazy.
- 7:47Speaker 4: If I get the call to maybe help them come
- 7:49Speaker 4: write some stuff, I'll be more than happy to.
- 7:52Speaker 3: But I would be just as happy to.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Just watch the resurgence happen, you know. I mean, I
- 7:57Speaker 4: that that's that will give me just as much fulfillment
- 8:00Speaker 4: as being a part of it.
- 8:01Speaker 2: So are you to that point where like, and I
- 8:04Speaker 2: don't want to say like you're well established and like
- 8:07Speaker 2: something like that, which you are, right, But are you
- 8:10Speaker 2: to the point where like, hey, people know what I
- 8:12Speaker 2: offer if they can come to me if they have something.
- 8:16Speaker 4: I mean, like I just don't want to bug them
- 8:19Speaker 4: and be like, yo, let me get in on this
- 8:20Speaker 4: new project, but like I don't you know, no way,
- 8:24Speaker 4: Like I mean, they're like I text people all the
- 8:28Speaker 4: time and be like, you know, hey, what you got
- 8:31Speaker 4: going on next week? Like I'm never like if you
- 8:33Speaker 4: want something to come to me, And I think people
- 8:35Speaker 4: do that and that's awesome, and I'm very thankful to
- 8:37Speaker 4: be at a spot where maybe somebody will say, hey,
- 8:40Speaker 4: send me some songs, or like hey, I really need
- 8:42Speaker 4: this for my next record. Do you want to write,
- 8:44Speaker 4: help try to write it, but no, I'm still beating
- 8:46Speaker 4: people's doors.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Down all the time. It's just this songwriter grinding me
- 8:49Speaker 3: that will just never go away.
- 8:50Speaker 4: I just don't want to bug those guys because I
- 8:52Speaker 4: know everybody in the world that's ever had their phone
- 8:54Speaker 4: number is like, yo, bro, we wrote this one a
- 8:57Speaker 4: few years ago.
- 8:58Speaker 3: You know whatever?
- 8:59Speaker 1: He remember when I to your truck on the side
- 9:00Speaker 1: of the road, I've been working on something. Yeah, Literally,
- 9:03Speaker 1: the last thing I'll ask.
- 9:04Speaker 2: About those boys getting back together and and any potential
- 9:07Speaker 2: reunion with you as a writer as well. If you
- 9:10Speaker 2: got a call from one of them today, do you
- 9:12Speaker 2: already know what song that you'd give them now you're
- 9:16Speaker 2: sitting on right now. I won't ask details because I
- 9:18Speaker 2: know that's tough, but do you if you got a
- 9:20Speaker 2: call right now and they're like, hey, we need something,
- 9:23Speaker 2: you know you got anything in the in the tank?
- 9:25Speaker 4: I mean, if they gave me a specific thing, I
- 9:29Speaker 4: would go dig and see what I had, But like,
- 9:32Speaker 4: not even I think more than anything, I would just
- 9:35Speaker 4: like to get in a room and be like, what
- 9:37Speaker 4: do y'all what are y'all trying to do?
- 9:39Speaker 3: Like, what's the vibe? And then just kind of start there.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Be's so wild.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yeah, but look that that stuff, like all that broke
- 9:45Speaker 4: country stuff that was like five years, six years before
- 9:49Speaker 4: I had any success, So like that was not my
- 9:52Speaker 4: I came along like later in the FGL career and
- 9:55Speaker 4: I helped like with the Can't Say Ain't Country record
- 9:57Speaker 4: more than anything, and so like I you know, and
- 10:01Speaker 4: people argue like up down and like some of these
- 10:03Speaker 4: songs were, and they were, like they're definitely bro country
- 10:05Speaker 4: songs that I've written and been a part of.
- 10:07Speaker 3: But like that was an old school crew of guys.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Like that's why I'm like, man, you don't have to
- 10:12Speaker 4: don't feel like you got to call me. I was
- 10:14Speaker 4: a part of the the newer stuff. Like if y'all
- 10:16Speaker 4: are trying to do the old thing, like I would
- 10:18Speaker 4: love to do it. But like I said, I just
- 10:20Speaker 4: I just want to see them get back to the
- 10:22Speaker 4: og thing and see what they come up with.
- 10:24Speaker 3: That's just that's what gets me the most excited.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I will tell you that speaking to come up with
- 10:29Speaker 2: I have been a fan of yours as a human,
- 10:32Speaker 2: a fan of yours as a musician, as a writer.
- 10:35Speaker 2: What you have done with MacArthur is wild. Thank you
- 10:40Speaker 2: because not only is it such a good song. And
- 10:44Speaker 2: we talked to Tim McGraw just a couple of weeks ago.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Stories like that aren't told.
- 10:49Speaker 1: In country music anymore.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Not that the music isn't great, and there's some there's
- 10:54Speaker 2: good there's good story songs, but this literally gives you.
- 10:58Speaker 2: This is this is almost a story before it's a song,
- 11:00Speaker 2: right and where? And Tim McGraw, I couldn't. I mean,
- 11:05Speaker 2: I'll have to pull it up at some point, but
- 11:07Speaker 2: he gushed about your ability to put this song together
- 11:10Speaker 2: and and how humble he felt that that he fit
- 11:14Speaker 2: into into your idea.
- 11:15Speaker 4: That's such a ridiculous Yeah, like he's he's texted me
- 11:18Speaker 4: that before.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I'm like, what are you talking about? You know who
- 11:21Speaker 3: you are?
- 11:23Speaker 1: I don't think he does. And that's okay, No.
- 11:25Speaker 3: That was It's super cool. First of all, thank you
- 11:27Speaker 3: for that, man.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I just it's still kind of a little surreal, uh.
- 11:32Speaker 4: I mean, Tim, obviously Morgan is like one of the
- 11:38Speaker 4: biggest artists on the planet, and Eric is Eric, and
- 11:40Speaker 4: but Tim is just one of those like he's like
- 11:42Speaker 4: a he's a legend already. And it's still very like
- 11:46Speaker 4: capable of having more hits and you know, the whole thing.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So like it's just mind blowing to me that that
- 11:53Speaker 3: he is like, I'm.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Just happy to be here, and I'm like, bro, I'm
- 11:55Speaker 4: just happy, But I don't know what you're talking about.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You know. You're like, that's what the janitor says, you're
- 12:01Speaker 1: Tim mcgrawl.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's a crazy text.
- 12:04Speaker 4: That's some that's like that those moment moments like those
- 12:08Speaker 4: are like it doesn't matter how long I've been in
- 12:10Speaker 4: town and who I know, Like.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Those are just hard to process texts, you know, in
- 12:15Speaker 3: a good way.
- 12:16Speaker 2: And even I was kind of like when he was like,
- 12:17Speaker 2: I'm like, dude, you're like you're Tim mcgrawl.
- 12:19Speaker 3: What are you talking about?
- 12:21Speaker 2: But it's such a great it's such a great song,
- 12:23Speaker 2: and it literally gives you, beginning to the end on
- 12:25Speaker 2: a on a family and their lineage and and and
- 12:29Speaker 2: their land and it's you. And it's funny because if
- 12:31Speaker 2: you asked me to write a story about the MacArthur's,
- 12:34Speaker 2: I could off of your song. Right. It's and it's
- 12:37Speaker 2: it's it's just so unique, but it's also a lot
- 12:41Speaker 2: different than anything you've done. So for you to not
- 12:43Speaker 2: only do that, but then it becomes a radio single.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Mh.
- 12:47Speaker 1: That takes a little bit of balls right to step
- 12:49Speaker 1: out or were you like, hey here it is like
- 12:51Speaker 1: it or not? I dig it?
- 12:52Speaker 2: No?
- 12:53Speaker 4: I mean I definitely I loved I loved the song,
- 12:56Speaker 4: and uh there was like this is inside Bay. There
- 13:00Speaker 4: was like bottom Land was was at the time the
- 13:03Speaker 4: confirmed single, and we had to have a conversation and
- 13:05Speaker 4: be like, hey, this is a.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Really big moment. I think we should move with MacArthur.
- 13:10Speaker 4: And uh, I might have I might have butted heads
- 13:13Speaker 4: for like half a day and then I is that
- 13:15Speaker 4: not how it happened? Yeah, okay, all right?
- 13:23Speaker 1: Being so great? So I do I do believe there's
- 13:25Speaker 1: probably some bad budd.
- 13:26Speaker 4: But when you know, like Tracker called me and and
- 13:28Speaker 4: uh Seth England called me and and they were you
- 13:31Speaker 4: know when when people will call me and they're like, hey,
- 13:34Speaker 4: this is a really good idea, let's let's make a pivot.
- 13:37Speaker 3: I'm never very rarely let me just say am I
- 13:40Speaker 3: like hell no? You know? Uh? Because I I would.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I have always said I will single any song off
- 13:49Speaker 4: of any record of anybody of music. That's how confident
- 13:52Speaker 4: I am in every song that I put on my record,
- 13:54Speaker 4: so like the second that they were like, hey, let's
- 13:57Speaker 4: let's swap to MacArthur, I was all all for it.
- 14:01Speaker 3: For sure.
- 14:01Speaker 2: It did, you know, as it comes together because collabs
- 14:07Speaker 2: aren't forced, and especially by by somebody who puts music
- 14:10Speaker 2: the way together the way you do.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It's not like you're like, hey, here's a collab in here,
- 14:14Speaker 1: who needs to be on it? Uh?
- 14:16Speaker 2: Was it always Tim Morgan and Eric are were there
- 14:20Speaker 2: and that's those are the names that fit immediately.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah, other names got thrown around, but the asks were
- 14:27Speaker 4: in order, Eric Morgan, Tim, and it was a yes,
- 14:30Speaker 4: and it was it was done.
- 14:32Speaker 2: At Did you have standing relationships with Tim and Eric?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Already?
- 14:37Speaker 3: Eric more than Tim? I barely.
- 14:38Speaker 4: I barely knew Tim, so I was like and I
- 14:41Speaker 4: knew Eric fairly well, but had not like after around
- 14:44Speaker 4: the MacArthur times. The most I've ever like spoken on
- 14:47Speaker 4: the phone with him and like texted and stuff like
- 14:48Speaker 4: that with him. But uh, he and I had like
- 14:50Speaker 4: been in rooms and circles and stuff a little bit
- 14:53Speaker 4: more than Tim, and I had only met Tim maybe
- 14:56Speaker 4: like one time, but I had sent Tim a batch
- 15:00Speaker 4: of songs. I met him, and I was like and
- 15:02Speaker 4: actually earned connected Tim and I like. Tim and I
- 15:05Speaker 4: met at an award show. It was kind of busy,
- 15:07Speaker 4: didn't get to it. He was like, we need to
- 15:08Speaker 4: get together and I was like, yes, sir, and then
- 15:10Speaker 4: didn't exchange numbers.
- 15:11Speaker 3: So Earn connected us the next day.
- 15:13Speaker 4: After that, I texted Tim, this was like a year ago,
- 15:16Speaker 4: and I was like, can I sing you some songs?
- 15:17Speaker 4: Sending five songs. He didn't respond for like two weeks,
- 15:19Speaker 4: and then I said do they suck that bad? And
- 15:21Speaker 4: so he wrote back and he was like, sorry, man,
- 15:22Speaker 4: I'm little slow getting back to people sometimes.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I was like, totally get it anyway.
- 15:25Speaker 4: All that being said, that is like the only report
- 15:28Speaker 4: that he and I had ever had until I sent
- 15:30Speaker 4: him MacArthur So, but I just I had a stiff
- 15:34Speaker 4: whiskey drink one night at the deer camp and I
- 15:36Speaker 4: was just like a screw it, and just I sent
- 15:38Speaker 4: it to him and I just got lucky and he he.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Immediately responded back and just said love it. You know,
- 15:44Speaker 3: rest is history kind.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And it's so good? Is it?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Does it play off of anything in your life or
- 15:50Speaker 2: anything you experienced?
- 15:52Speaker 1: Like how were you able to put this?
- 15:53Speaker 2: Because the song idea is one thing, right, but to
- 15:55Speaker 2: physically like tell a full family story is another thing
- 16:00Speaker 2: I feel.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I mean, I've told this, I've talked about this.
- 16:03Speaker 4: So my dad was a chicken farmer, not the same
- 16:05Speaker 4: thing as like a family farm. It's very like I'm
- 16:08Speaker 4: not going to go into detail, but it's for football
- 16:11Speaker 4: field length houses and it's you know, that's not like
- 16:14Speaker 4: when you think of a family farm.
- 16:16Speaker 3: It's not that.
- 16:17Speaker 4: So I don't I technically like came from a farm family.
- 16:22Speaker 4: But where my like, where my heart is attached to
- 16:27Speaker 4: the song is that my great grandfather bought a track
- 16:30Speaker 4: of land that I like had deer hunting my whole life,
- 16:32Speaker 4: and that my grandfather deer hunted, and that my dad
- 16:33Speaker 4: is deer hunted.
- 16:34Speaker 3: His whole life.
- 16:35Speaker 4: And I've actually been able to expand on that and
- 16:38Speaker 4: buy like land around it, which I think is super cool,
- 16:40Speaker 4: and like keep adding to that because because deer hunting
- 16:42Speaker 4: is such a big part of our family and uh yeah,
- 16:46Speaker 4: and just to think like I'm I'm adding on this
- 16:49Speaker 4: like in four or five generations, Like I hope there's
- 16:51Speaker 4: not some shithead that's like, damn, this is worth a
- 16:56Speaker 4: lot of money, you know what I mean, like in
- 16:57Speaker 4: the importance of keeping that in our family and why
- 16:59Speaker 4: it's and all of that. And so that's my resonation
- 17:02Speaker 4: with the song, is that more than anything else.
- 17:04Speaker 2: It's I don't know what side of town you're on,
- 17:07Speaker 2: but like we're down in spring Hill and I've been
- 17:09Speaker 2: here for six years now, and that's it's like a
- 17:12Speaker 2: song about spring Hill. Same damn near because when.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I first got there, it was like, oh, you get
- 17:16Speaker 1: off the highway.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And it's farms and farms and farms, and they get
- 17:19Speaker 2: to a little, you know, tiny piece of the city
- 17:21Speaker 2: and there's my house. Now it's like neighborhoods, here's a
- 17:24Speaker 2: little bit of farm, and then it's like ten neighborhoods,
- 17:27Speaker 2: five new stoplights. So literally, like I mean, I've never
- 17:30Speaker 2: owned a farmer land, but like I felt that song
- 17:32Speaker 2: just by seeing it happen, which is normal like across
- 17:36Speaker 2: the country.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Now, well, you know, I mean there's a lot I
- 17:39Speaker 4: was talking about somebody about this other day, but like
- 17:41Speaker 4: there's a lot of reasons that a farm would get sold,
- 17:45Speaker 4: and like one is like the sad one is that
- 17:49Speaker 4: like that's not necessarily sad, Like money talks, you know,
- 17:51Speaker 4: and like, you got a big developer that can come
- 17:54Speaker 4: up to a farmer that's never seen six seven million
- 17:58Speaker 4: dollars in their life and they get that all for
- 18:00Speaker 4: and they're like, Okay, this is probably best for our family.
- 18:03Speaker 4: That's one way, or or you know, the farmers whoever,
- 18:07Speaker 4: you know, whoever it's passed down to whatever.
- 18:10Speaker 3: But then there's also people that that are.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Like, can't afford to keep their their farm going, whatever
- 18:17Speaker 4: the farm may be. I mean, there's a lot of
- 18:19Speaker 4: reasons that a farm can go under. And we definitely
- 18:21Speaker 4: left that well we we technically did do the neighborhood thing,
- 18:24Speaker 4: but we left like the reason why, you know, kind
- 18:27Speaker 4: of out there as a why would it would hunter
- 18:30Speaker 4: you know, technically be selling it or whatever. I guess
- 18:32Speaker 4: we kind of gave it away that he just wants
- 18:34Speaker 4: the money, But I don't know. There's a lot of
- 18:36Speaker 4: reasons how and why a farm can go under. So
- 18:38Speaker 4: I hope that anybody that's in any of those situations
- 18:41Speaker 4: can take this song and like, you know, relate it
- 18:43Speaker 4: to whatever situation they're going through.
- 18:44Speaker 1: It needs to be like a part two from the
- 18:46Speaker 1: from the brother in law. I'm married in the family,
- 18:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna kick. Yeah, well that's.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Part of We talked about doing like a family tree,
- 18:55Speaker 4: like actually drawing out a family tree and like why
- 18:58Speaker 4: was it passed down through these sons.
- 19:00Speaker 3: And like not a daughter or like maybe there was
- 19:02Speaker 3: a you know what I mean, like that kind of thing.
- 19:04Speaker 3: But it's just it's hard to get everybody in the
- 19:08Speaker 3: same room the same time again.
- 19:09Speaker 4: But you know, I mean it's like I would not
- 19:12Speaker 4: even be a poet like Eric and I through around
- 19:14Speaker 4: some MacArthur like song ideas and stuff a decent bit,
- 19:20Speaker 4: like like outside of the song, like you know, a
- 19:22Speaker 4: different character and like creating a family tree, but that's
- 19:25Speaker 4: never I don't think it's ever out of the question,
- 19:27Speaker 4: you know, to expand on that idea.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I wouldn't table that just yet.
- 19:30Speaker 4: It's just getting everybody in this in the same room
- 19:33Speaker 4: again to sing parts and want to be involved with
- 19:36Speaker 4: it and all that is a little difficult.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Did you guys get it all at the same time?
- 19:39Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 19:39Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a cool day.
- 19:41Speaker 1: That's wild.
- 19:41Speaker 2: And it's funny because when we first started playing, I'm like,
- 19:44Speaker 2: I'm like, if country music had an all star team,
- 19:47Speaker 2: like a like a baseball team, I'm like, that's what
- 19:49Speaker 2: this record feels like. Does it change knowing how great
- 19:52Speaker 2: this song came together and it and it being such
- 19:54Speaker 2: an awesome story, does it change what you're thinking next,
- 19:58Speaker 2: Like as far as like what's the song after this
- 20:00Speaker 2: to radio?
- 20:01Speaker 1: What's the next project? And sound?
- 20:04Speaker 3: How does already know that? I just can't talk about it.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I love I love getting to topics like that
- 20:11Speaker 2: because that's when the label sits up, like yeah, yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 2: we're done. That's when they put the red bull down
- 20:16Speaker 2: or the Alani or whatever the hell they got over.
- 20:18Speaker 1: There's a sponsored.
- 20:21Speaker 4: But I'm always a step ahead, dude, Like I I
- 20:26Speaker 4: when I finish a project or like release something for me,
- 20:31Speaker 4: that's like that's the end of that thing, and like
- 20:34Speaker 4: whatever these guys can do with it from there is great,
- 20:37Speaker 4: And whatever.
- 20:37Speaker 3: I could do to help help move it along is
- 20:39Speaker 3: is great.
- 20:40Speaker 4: But from a creative standpoint, like the song going to
- 20:45Speaker 4: radio or the song coming out is the end of
- 20:47Speaker 4: that song's like.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Thing for me? And then so I'm immediately like, Okay,
- 20:52Speaker 3: it's out into the world. What can I do next?
- 20:55Speaker 4: And I've I've you know, well, there's usually a month
- 20:58Speaker 4: of like panic and I'm like what the hell am
- 20:59Speaker 4: I gotta do now? And then I just kind of,
- 21:01Speaker 4: you know, me and my buddies get together and we
- 21:03Speaker 4: sort of figure it out and then the next thing starts.
- 21:06Speaker 4: But so, yeah, I've got I've got stuff, I got
- 21:11Speaker 4: ideas and things.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Can't talk about it.
- 21:13Speaker 1: But is it tough to enjoy what MacArthur's doing then.
- 21:16Speaker 4: If you're already like no, no, no, no very much enjoy Yeah, yeah,
- 21:19Speaker 4: I mean it's two different. You know, it's fun to
- 21:21Speaker 4: watch and playing it live and seeing it react and
- 21:24Speaker 4: all that stuff.
- 21:24Speaker 3: That's all still like all fun.
- 21:26Speaker 4: But I guess like from a creative standpoint, it's just
- 21:28Speaker 4: like I've done what I can do. It is now
- 21:30Speaker 4: belongs to the world, so that I can wash my
- 21:33Speaker 4: hands of of anything that had to do with the
- 21:36Speaker 4: creation of that song or the creativity of the song,
- 21:39Speaker 4: because it now just exists in the world. So now
- 21:41Speaker 4: I need to move on to to try to create
- 21:43Speaker 4: something else. That's how my brain works.
- 21:45Speaker 2: So knowing how it came together, which feels seamlessly right,
- 21:48Speaker 2: like it felt like this this song made itself right
- 21:51Speaker 2: with everybody being available and recording whatever, does that make
- 21:57Speaker 2: it more special?
- 21:58Speaker 1: If it was officially a number one single for you.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Hell yeah, it'll be cool as hell, dude. I mean
- 22:05Speaker 3: it'd be cool.
- 22:06Speaker 4: It's I hear that it would it would be if
- 22:08Speaker 4: it goes it would be Tim McGraw's fiftieth number one.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Look Tim taking all the shine off of your penny.
- 22:15Speaker 3: That's right, he can take it all. I don't care.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Let's get it to number one.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Please, fiftieth, Morgan's forty eight.
- 22:21Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, for real, Tim's over a thirty year span,
- 22:25Speaker 4: Morgan's ever a three pretty much.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Morgan's like I've been here three weeks? Am I doing okay? Yeah?
- 22:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, yeah, it would mean a lot.
- 22:33Speaker 4: It would mean the world to me. Uh for it
- 22:35Speaker 4: to be a hit, truly, Like it's just a moment
- 22:40Speaker 4: in country music. I think that again.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I just I am like.
- 22:44Speaker 4: How did high an eye on this song? And and
- 22:46Speaker 4: uh just it's a song I would can definitely like
- 22:49Speaker 4: hang my hat on. I feel like it's a moment
- 22:50Speaker 4: that will live for a very long time in country music,
- 22:52Speaker 4: and I'm just really happy to be a part of that.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Okay, that was the last question. Here's the real last one.
- 22:58Speaker 1: And Tate rolls her eyes because I always go here's
- 23:00Speaker 1: the last question, and then I have five more minutes.
- 23:02Speaker 2: But this is the last one because you said moment,
- 23:05Speaker 2: and that's such a great title because it does feel
- 23:07Speaker 2: like a moment versus versus any other song you've had.
- 23:10Speaker 2: There's something special about this one and how it stands,
- 23:12Speaker 2: and I'm sure you feel the same way. So knowing that,
- 23:16Speaker 2: what would on top of it being a number one,
- 23:18Speaker 2: what would a nomination for musical moment at an award
- 23:22Speaker 2: show mean for you on this one, knowing who's on
- 23:24Speaker 2: it with you?
- 23:28Speaker 3: Not as much as the number one? I don't think.
- 23:30Speaker 4: I mean, it would be cool. Uh, it depends on
- 23:33Speaker 4: it depends on which award show, Okay, and who and
- 23:36Speaker 4: who the people are that are voting and agree that it.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Should be a moment that will vote for it.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I appreciate that we do, and I'll tell you.
- 23:42Speaker 2: And I'll say this on recording anytime Hardy shows up,
- 23:46Speaker 2: our Morgan Wallance shows up on the ballot, tay, and
- 23:48Speaker 2: I checked the box.
- 23:49Speaker 3: It would be. It would be cool. It would be cool.
- 23:51Speaker 3: For sure.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Someone's gonna talk shit on me for that, but I
- 23:54Speaker 2: don't care. You check the boxes that deserve to be
- 23:56Speaker 2: I appreciate it absolutely.
- 23:58Speaker 4: You and my big out team might be the only one,
- 24:00Speaker 4: but I still appreciate it.
- 24:01Speaker 1: We'll tell them to hire more people.
- 24:05Speaker 3: It's your fault, Hardy.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, man, and I say it every
- 24:09Speaker 2: time we catch up. I'd love you as a human being.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I think you're widely talented, and I appreciate any time
- 24:13Speaker 2: that you can come hang out with us.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Brother.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I love you, brother. I appreciate that
