- 0:46Long time listeners, thanks for sticking with us, and if you're new to
- 0:49the show, welcome. We have got a great show this week where we're
- 0:54going to be getting into some Phillies off season talk in terms of pitch.
- 1:00Let's have a starting pitcher should they be going after? And is Otani gonna
- 1:04be on the table for this Phillies front office. We're then gonna get into
- 1:08the Philadelphia seventy six Ers, the fact that they are surprising a lot of
- 1:12individuals even though they drop a game two games in a row. Now Sixers
- 1:17and the Pacers as Sixers and Pacers, No, the Celtics and the Pacers.
- 1:23Jesus, why don't I just say the rest of the agenda here,
- 1:25We're gonna talk about the Union. We're gonna talk about the University of Michigan
- 1:29and their scandals and their transgressions. And we're gonna get into some Eagles talk
- 1:32too. That's what we're throwing down on the table. I'm Jeff Warren and
- 1:34I'm here of my buddy Len Punsiker. Len. I completely screwed up the
- 1:38intro as I usually do. We've been doing this for so long. I'm
- 1:42constantly screwing stuff up. It never ceases to amaze me. Your head's probably
- 1:47still in a swivel from talking about my presidential run here exactly before we hit
- 1:55the record button, len is gonna be running, folks, Just to let
- 1:57y'all know, as an independent candidate for the presidency of the United States in
- 2:01twenty twenty four. Let's get him on the ballot, folks. Let's do
- 2:05it. It's just come on, you're gonna vote for one of these old
- 2:07guys. Exactly. That's pretty much my campaign. Exactly. You have vision.
- 2:12Okay, you're your Russian foreign policy was fantastic. I think you need
- 2:16to let go off over here. That's it. There you go. Yeah,
- 2:23So President Hunsicker here, what are your thoughts about you know, Russia,
- 2:27Ukraine. What's happening in the world. They seem to be rather unstable
- 2:31over in Russia. How mister Hunsicker, how do we get this taken care
- 2:36of with Russia? You know, you get Mitchkoff over here. If twitter
- 2:39Ella puts him in the press box as a learning thing, he's got to
- 2:43go and get somebody to poison. Putin there, you go, there you
- 2:46go. But how about that, folks, I mean, that is a
- 2:51that is presidential right there. It's decisive. He knows what he's talking solved.
- 2:58Ye. I love your foreign policy. It's it's it's simple, it's
- 3:05clean and simple. Then it's great. All right, everybody anyway, buddy,
- 3:12how you doing other than other than your aspiring presidential campaign. I'm good,
- 3:17Yeah, no, I'm good. I'm on vacation so nice. That's
- 3:21a good thing. Yeah no, everything's good right now. I can't wait
- 3:24to go on vacation, family vacation. We are going on a Caribbean cruise
- 3:29from December tenth to the seventeenth. I gotta figure out what to do with
- 3:32the show that week. I gotta I gotta figure it out. When t
- 3:36win December tenth to the seventeenth, Okay, Yeah, it's like right before
- 3:40and Christmas. What I I this is the first I'm hearing of any of
- 3:43this. What like, what islands like just where Obamas or yeah? Well
- 3:47well yeah, Bahama's a Saint Martin. We're gonna be out. We're leaving
- 3:50from Bayone, and we are heading down to beautiful Bayone, New Jersey.
- 3:54Yes, figure, we'll leave from Bay Owned so we don't have to fly
- 4:02anywhere. It's gonna be what an hour and a half car ride to Yeah,
- 4:06you know, we're not gonna have to pay for plane tickets, especially
- 4:10the cost of flying today is absolutely absurd. And then we head down to
- 4:14Port Canaveral, Florida first, and then we go it's through Royal Caribbean.
- 4:18They actually have their own island like Disney does. We were on Disney Cruise
- 4:23a few years ago, back in twenty nineteen, and Disney, of course
- 4:27has their own island that you can go to and there's beaches and stuff like
- 4:30that. Royal Caribbean has something similar. We're gonna be there for a day,
- 4:33but it's in the Caribbean somewhere. But again, Saint Martin, we're
- 4:36gonna be at Bahamas as well. So it's gonna be It is gonna be
- 4:41a well well deserved vacation at this point, especially after you know, the
- 4:46campaign stuff that my family and I have been through the past eight months and
- 4:50especially past two months. Just really busy with it and I can't wait for
- 4:55it. But I don't know what to do with the show that week.
- 4:57Maybe just not do the show, I guess. I mean I always do.
- 5:00You're you're the one that does all the like the technical stuff like there's
- 5:04there's no It's not like eric Ry are going to learn how to, you
- 5:09know, run a podcast while you're gone. So if you're the upload's there
- 5:12to do it, I mean, it's it's pretty much not gonna happen.
- 5:15I know, I don't know. Maybe I can get a couple interviews in
- 5:16the can or something like that. I've got some out takes. Yeah,
- 5:19I mean, I guess you an interview show, like a pre recorded interview
- 5:25show probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Yeah, maybe maybe I'll do that,
- 5:27because I mean we do that. I do that with the table talk
- 5:30show Opposition Territory, So maybe I'll throw something in there. So I just
- 5:33wanted to let everybody know that, right, off the bat that about a
- 5:36month or so, I'm going to be in the Caribbean. Hopefully the ship
- 5:40doesn't sink. I'm a little concerned about that. I think you'll. I
- 5:44mean, I've never been on a cruise in my life, so I don't
- 5:46know what they're like. But they're fantastic. Those things are pretty much floating
- 5:50cities. All right, all right, folks, Well we're going to get
- 5:55into this show here. Let's get into lend the Philadelphia Phillies. As I
- 5:59was mentioning before, you know what pitchers they're gonna be kicking the tires on.
- 6:04Is it gonna be show? Hey, Otani, you know we talked
- 6:08about Sonny Gray last week when Eric was on the pod as well, if
- 6:12that's gonna be a viable option for this team, because I mean, when
- 6:16when we look at what this team really wants to bring in during this offseason,
- 6:20another starting pitcher, of course, some type of possible closer. And
- 6:27I don't think it's necessarily gonna be a quote high end closer, you know,
- 6:30maybe like a second tier type closer. But in terms of the actual
- 6:33pitchers themselves, I think, you know, they may be looking at a
- 6:39Sonny Gray maybe Blake Snell, Marcus Stroman even you know, Eric was even
- 6:44talking about Yamamoto, you know, whether or not they could possibly bring him
- 6:46in. I just don't think because there's that chatter out there about Otani where
- 6:51he's gonna go, what he's gonna get paid, I actually don't. I
- 6:56think he is actually the one player where when it comes to how he could
- 7:01fit into this Phillies team, I just don't even know if the Phillies are
- 7:05gonna kick the tires on him, because it's like, what are you gonna
- 7:09do with Schwarber then, because you know Schwarber's not going anywhere? I mean,
- 7:13he really is the glue for this team in a lot of different ways.
- 7:17You know, Reese is probably at this point gonna be gone, as
- 7:20we know they did not you know, qualifying offer. We know what happened
- 7:25there, So it's gonna be Bryce Harper at first base. I just don't
- 7:29know if Otani is actually going to be a viable option. I don't even
- 7:31if they're gonna kick the tires on him. So what do you think?
- 7:34And Lenn about Otani and just kind of where the starting pitcher situation is going
- 7:39for this team in terms of this offseason. Okay, so some quick thoughts
- 7:44on Otani. First things first, he had I believe, a procedure done
- 7:47on his throwing arm. Yeah, even if you get him, he's not
- 7:53pitching in twenty twenty four, So right, he's off the table. I
- 7:56mean even if even if the Phillies were to get him, that would be
- 7:59all awesome. Do they kick the tires on him? Sure? I mean
- 8:03there's no It doesn't cost you anything to talk to the guy and you know,
- 8:07just put together presentation. You know, he's seen that. You know,
- 8:11he's been on a team that is chronically underachieved every single year he's been
- 8:16in there. Yeah, and going back to before he was ever a Los
- 8:18Angeles angel So to to be talked to a team that has made two,
- 8:24you know, fairly deep playoff runs, you know, the past couple of
- 8:28years is probably something that's intriguing to him. Do I think they would have
- 8:33a shot at him now? I think that there's I think he's going to
- 8:37end up a Dodger. They have the money. I think, you know,
- 8:43Steve Cohen in New York, if he decides he wants to join another
- 8:48you know, team that you know isn't quite assured of a playoff spot.
- 8:52You know, maybe he goes there. Maybe he just goes for the money
- 8:54because Cohen will pay him probably more than anybody. But if he's looking for
- 9:00a team that you know, has has made some long playoff runs and a
- 9:05guy that's you know, committed to to spend the money, I don't know
- 9:09what what you know what the Phillies and and Middleton have left to spend.
- 9:13But I mean he's shown while shell out the money, and they've shown that
- 9:16they've won in the past, so it's a viable option. You at least
- 9:20talk to the guy and and and see what's what really quick, I think
- 9:26I I wonder if the Texas Rangers would actually go after him. You know,
- 9:30their owner is a guy that has shown will spend money. To exact,
- 9:35he dumped a truckload of money on on uh Corey Seeger and Marcus Simeon
- 9:41and and you know they picked up two expensive starters in Scherzer and Jacob de
- 9:46Gram. So yeah, he's shown that it will spend the money too.
- 9:48So they are absolutely in play for for to definitely so, but yeah,
- 9:54I mean there's no harm in in at least asking. But yeah, I
- 9:58don't. I don't think he's gonna be the you know he's going to be
- 10:01coming here to Philadelphia. Yeah, I don't think he is either. What
- 10:05are your thoughts on like guys that are real potential and possibilities. I mean,
- 10:11like I said, Eric and I were talking about Sonny Gray last week,
- 10:13and I think Marcus Stroman, I think there's possibility that he could be
- 10:18coming here as well, maybe even Blake Snell. What are your thoughts.
- 10:22I'm of the opinion that, Okay, even if you get Nola, I
- 10:28won a second starting pitcher. I mean, if this is me, you
- 10:31know this is not what they're going to do. But I'm just telling you,
- 10:33if I was John Middleton or Dave Dombrowski, I am going into this
- 10:39offseason wanting to either retain Nola and get another starting pitcher or get or if
- 10:46Nola walks, then get two starting pitchers. I want death in that rotation
- 10:50because you really don't have it. You've got Wheeler, You've got Suarez,
- 10:54You've got Taiwan Walker, who's you know, in a pissy mood because he
- 10:58wasn't using the playoffs. So those are three guys, and maybe I'm forgetting
- 11:03somebody I'm counting on it. I'm just saying, if Nola's gone, what
- 11:07else do you have? Mick Abel is still in the miners painters, probably
- 11:11get over there. Yeah, Peter's not going to be there because he had
- 11:15Tommy John. You won't see him until twenty twenty five. That's true.
- 11:18That's true. So you need depth. I think you need two starters,
- 11:22whether it's Nola and another guy, or two guys. I wouldn't you know,
- 11:26if Nola walks, I wouldn't mind seeing them. Try to get both
- 11:31Sonny Gray and a guy like Jordan Montgomery. Yeah, those are guys that
- 11:37I think maybe you can get those two for slightly more than just Nola alone.
- 11:45I think you could do that and you could build some depth in your
- 11:46rotation. A guy I absolutely would spend the money on is that Yamamoto guy
- 11:52from Japan. He's twenty five. He's one Japan's version of the cy Young
- 11:58Award three times now as a twenty five year old. So yeah, that
- 12:03that's a guy. Especially, that's the guy that you could You know,
- 12:07Nola's thirty, Jordan Montgomery's thirty. Snell is in that range too, So
- 12:13I'd rather give the money in the years to a twenty five year old.
- 12:18It is a little scary because he's unproven, because he's never pitched in the
- 12:22you know, major League Baseball. But I think it's worth the risk.
- 12:24I like Yamamoto enough. He is my top target if Nola leaves, obviously
- 12:31you try to you already had that relationship with Nola. You try to get
- 12:33him back. Snell, I'm interested in that. You're talking about a guy
- 12:37that won a cy Young Award tonight. He I believe won a second siong
- 12:41Award yep. But that is a guy that you know, there's question marks
- 12:46with a lot of these guys. That's a guy that doesn't go deep into
- 12:48games. So if you if you get Blake Snell, you better be ready
- 12:52for five, six innings and out. So you better realize that if you
- 12:56go to with Blake's now is he is he a better pitcher than Nola when
- 13:01he's in there? I think he is. But Nola will give you seven
- 13:05innings. Blake Spell doesn't do that, So that's something you have to consider
- 13:11there. Sonny Gray, who I like, is a guy that keeps the
- 13:13ball in the park. But this is a guy that when he was in
- 13:16New York. You can ask our friend Dave about it. As a Yankees
- 13:20fan. He did not respond well to the you know, Northeast, big
- 13:24city pressure market thing. So has he matured since then? He was thirty
- 13:31four too, right, Yeah, so that's another guy you know that wouldn't
- 13:35be a big year contract, maybe three years. There is the relationship there
- 13:39with a pitching coach, Caleb Gothain. They were both on on the in
- 13:43the rotation together at Vanderbilt in college, so there's there's that familiarity there.
- 13:48That's why I think Sonny Gray is a guy that is definitely in play for
- 13:52for the Phillies. It would not surprise me at all to see Sonny Gray
- 13:56in the Phillies uniform next year. But you know, there's that question there.
- 14:01He's got to prove that in a pressure market like a Philadelphia in New
- 14:05York of Boston, that he can hack it there. But yeah, I
- 14:09just like everybody talks about different needs for the Phillies. Oh they need a
- 14:13you know, I got another bat in the lineup that actually has an approach
- 14:16and I don't disagree with that. Oh we need a closer. Not really,
- 14:20I'll get to the closer thing in a minute. But to me,
- 14:22I think you need two starting pitchers now as far as the closer thing goes,
- 14:28You know the thing with Hater, I I'm not like their bullpen was
- 14:33pretty good last year. I mean, I know bullpens tend to vary,
- 14:37but they've got a bunch of guys that can throw hard. I don't think
- 14:39you have to have, oh, this is the closer, this is the
- 14:43ninth ending guy. Let you know, go try to get a couple of
- 14:48value arms in there like you did with Hoffman, and then, you know,
- 14:52just have a bullpen of guys throw hard and let Rob Thompson mix and
- 14:56matches as he sees fit and play the matchup. Let the manager manage.
- 15:01I've got I've got no problem with that. I completely get where you're coming
- 15:05does I think I think a big name closer is a waste of money?
- 15:07Okay, all right, I think that's fair. I do wonder though,
- 15:11how certain aspects of the bullpen having undefined roles might actually pose some issues,
- 15:18because I think we did see that, you know, every now and again
- 15:22in this twenty twenty three season. I completely get where you're coming from.
- 15:26Let the manager manage and quite Frankly, Rob Thompson did a pretty damn good
- 15:30job throughout the course of the season. From a macro perspective, did a
- 15:33very good job. But having defined roles I think in the bullpen can be
- 15:39very helpful for a team. And I don't know, I completely bad thing,
- 15:43but I I mean having a guy that's you know, I only pitch
- 15:48in the ninth inny or you know that. I know. Yeah, I
- 15:50don't know. I mean, grow up, we're here to win. We're
- 15:54not here, you know. You know, you're you're getting paid handsomely to
- 15:58throw an inning of professional baseball right every couple of days, like, let's
- 16:03relax. So yeah, I don't know. And that's just me, the
- 16:08you know, the non you know, never played you know, above little
- 16:12league, you know, as far as baseball goes in my life. You
- 16:17know, I'm sure a professional athlete might scoff that opinion, but hey,
- 16:21I mean that's what it is. I don't care about your role. I
- 16:25want to win. Yeah, So yeah, I just think from a team
- 16:29building you know, yeah, I've heard, you know, they're looking at
- 16:33trading castianos. I mean, good luck. I don't think that's going to
- 16:36happen. Just two, you know, three years, sixty million left on
- 16:41that contract. I don't see it. So yeah, I don't know.
- 16:45I don't know what they're going to do. Maybe they go the trade route,
- 16:48but I don't know the guys that are out there. I don't know
- 16:52if they have the ammunition for it from a young player or or you know
- 16:56minor league thing, like like a guy like Corbin Burns from Milwaukee. It
- 17:00looks like Milwaukee's kind of maybe breaking things up a little bit. Yeah,
- 17:04and they're maybe gonna start rebuilding a little bit. Yeah, Corbyn Burns would
- 17:10look great in a in a Phillies uniform if they could extend them. But
- 17:12there there's teams out there, like I look at a team like the Orioles
- 17:15that have all this minor lake. They all their all their position players are
- 17:19basically filled already, right, and they've still got guys from the miners coming
- 17:22up, like a guy like Jackson Holliday, who's a number one overall prospect
- 17:26in baseball. You've got a couple of outfield prospects that are coming up,
- 17:30so they don't have room for all these guys. So that's a team that
- 17:33if they could, you know, spend the money and convince Burns to sign
- 17:36with them beyond next year because it's a free agent after next year. That's
- 17:40a team that could give Milwaukee a couple of pieces in Milwaukee would be like,
- 17:44hell yeah, the Phillies from a prospect standpoint, I don't think they
- 17:48can play in that in that ballpark, But which is why they don't need
- 17:52to, which is why they need to sign Aaron Nola. You know what
- 17:56I mean. Look, I I wanted to know look him back. Yeah,
- 18:00because like I said earlier, Yeah, I mean he you know,
- 18:04has his moments where he just doesn't look like a guy that should be making
- 18:08all that money. But you know, that's two hundred innings you need to
- 18:11fill somehow, some way if he leaves. I mean, that's you know,
- 18:15for for what he doesn't do sometimes. And you know, I know
- 18:18the era was like four point three something this year or whatever it was,
- 18:22but he gives you innings and not a lot of guys do that anymore.
- 18:26Yeah. Look, he's as we all know, he's made it to the
- 18:30All Star Game at one point in his career. He's got more than fifteen
- 18:34hundred strikeouts in his career. He's tossed three shutouts, He's had three seasons
- 18:40where he's finished in the top ten and Cy Young voting. I mean,
- 18:44yeah, i'd close to exactly. He's due to get that close to two
- 18:48hundred million dollar contract, you know, And and we saw what he did
- 18:52during the latter part of this season, and that whole Aaron Nola in September
- 18:56narrative, I really think is kind of out the door at this point.
- 18:59You know, like you said, yeah, he's not perfect by any stretch.
- 19:02You know, Oh my gosh, I remember going to the Father's Day
- 19:04game this past year. It was terrible. He pitched awful. It was
- 19:08terrible. But then you know, two weeks later he's bouncing back. And
- 19:12you know, you like to see a baseball player where if they have a
- 19:18bad outing, and especially a pitcher, it's not going to completely get in
- 19:21their head. They're able to rebound. Aaron Knowle has been able to do
- 19:23with that, and that's why I want him in the starting rotation. Yeah,
- 19:26and that's why I want to, you know, two starters, because
- 19:32Okay, next year is the final year of Zach Wheeler's contract, It's the
- 19:34final year of Ranger Suarez's contract. So what if you don't get those guys
- 19:38back now, you know, Okay, is Mick abel ready? Is Andrew
- 19:44Paynter all the way back from his injury? Is he ready? Yeah,
- 19:45there's a lot of questions. That's why I think you need more than one
- 19:49starting pitcher, because there's a lot of depth questions that I don't know if
- 19:55they've got him answered. Yep, good conversations, good questions were we're asking
- 20:00here and we're going to keep talking about this Phillies team and what this off
- 20:03season is going to be looking like in the future for sure, and we'd
- 20:07love to hear from you out there. You can certainly shoot us off a
- 20:11tweet on the Twitter dot com or X. I shouldn't be calling it.
- 20:15I keep I keep not wanting to call it X, but like it's becoming
- 20:19more and more of a thing with folks calling it X. Now, Lenn,
- 20:22I'm feeling like I need to, but I don't want to as it's
- 20:26as it goes on longer as that you know, people, it's like anything
- 20:30you know, you get used to, you know, something being called something
- 20:33over time, you get worn down and you know, in a year,
- 20:37calling it X is gonna sound completely naturals as dumb name as it is,
- 20:44and it is dumb because if you if you go back and look at Elon
- 20:48Musk's history, he tries to name everything X. He has a weird,
- 20:52weird fetish with that letter and I don't understand it. But whatever, Well,
- 20:56I got to tell you right now, I am feeling really good about
- 21:00this Philadelphia seventy six Ers team. And yes, I know that they lost
- 21:03the Celtics tonight, tough game, tough game in Philly. They also ended
- 21:08up losing to the Pacers, which was their second loss of the season.
- 21:12But this Sixers team, they are still at the top of the Eastern Conference
- 21:18here and again, Lynn, don't think anybody saw this happening. And for
- 21:22God's sake, Tyrese Maxi putting up fifty points this past Sunday, I want
- 21:29to really talk about him here because I was thinking to myself, is there
- 21:33a Sixers player or even another like NBA player who has developed more quickly than
- 21:40Tyrese Maxi has at this point in his career or their career. I don't
- 21:45know if I can actually. I mean, of course, you have the
- 21:48Lebron James of the world. You know, once in a generation type of
- 21:51athlete, you know, freaking Michael Jordan. Of course, you know,
- 21:55I'm not talking about the most elite level, but I'm saying a pick in
- 22:00Tyrese Maxi that came here and we weren't really expecting this a few years ago
- 22:07when he was drafted Lynn. I don't think we were expecting this from Maxie,
- 22:11the fact that he is able to do what he does on the court.
- 22:15He's got this lethal combination of this this like game changing speed and elite
- 22:21shooting that has made him a dangerous player here in the NBA. And it's
- 22:26happened in a short period of time. He's continuing to develop here. It
- 22:30is something that is so wonderful to see. Man, I know you would
- 22:34probably agree on this, but man, it's it's incredible not having James Harden
- 22:41here to see what more Tyrese Maxi has been able to do this year and
- 22:47where it's taking this Sixers team. Man, it's fantastic to watch. Yeah,
- 22:51it is. I mean, it's so funny watching James Harden in LA
- 23:00and just how poorly that team is performing with him just gumming up the works.
- 23:04He's the system. He's the system himself. Well, what an ass
- 23:10I mean that it's it's I mean, it's just beautiful to see, you
- 23:17know, MAXI develop into this player that I didn't think he could. I
- 23:22didn't think he had this level in him. I'll be done honest with you.
- 23:25I thought he was a good player. I thought he'd be maybe slightly
- 23:27better than he was last year. But I mean, I hopefully he can
- 23:32keep up what he's doing right now. But man, I didn't I didn't
- 23:34see all this coming. He looks like an All Star. He looks like
- 23:37he's getting into super stardom. Yeah, I mean, he looks like a
- 23:41guy that, you know, when this season is over, you might be
- 23:45talking about him as a top twenty player in the NBA. Yeah, maybe
- 23:48top fifteen. So I mean that, you know, maybe he's the guy
- 23:53that they've been looking for all along to compliment Embiid. You know, you
- 23:57thought it was gonna be Simmons, and maybe he thought it was going to
- 24:00be false, and then you thought it was going to be hard, and
- 24:03you know, maybe he's the guy that we've been looking for along. I
- 24:07don't know. I mean, it's still so early in the season. I
- 24:10want to see him continue to do this. But yeah, I mean I
- 24:14don't know. You talked about a guy that you know, maybe he uh,
- 24:21you know, how who do you compare him to? I mean,
- 24:22I don't. I don't. I think he a guy that I'm looking at
- 24:26in terms of, like, you know, making a leap and and being
- 24:30considered a young star on the rise, is actually a guy that was in
- 24:33the same draft as him, but a guy that was more highly regarded.
- 24:37And that's uh when I think of him, same first name, oddly enough,
- 24:41But I look at a guy like Tyrese Haliburton on the Indiana team that
- 24:45that that split with Philadelphia recently. That's the guy that you know, a
- 24:51lot of people liked him coming out, and he played well. He was
- 24:55drafted by Sacramento and then got traded in uh Indiana. But he's he's gotten
- 25:00better each year to the point where like now people are looking at him like
- 25:03a star player. But I don't. I think people were higher on him
- 25:08than they were on Maxie when he came out. Haliburton was drafted twelfth overall,
- 25:12whereas MAXI was twenty first overall. But man, if you did a
- 25:17redraft right now, Maxy, I don't, I mean, he doesn't get
- 25:22out of the top five. You know, you've got Anthony Edwards, You've
- 25:26got you know, Halliburton, and then I think it might be maybe you
- 25:30can make a case for LaMelo Ball. But after that, I mean maybe
- 25:34even third overall. I think I think it would be Maxy at this point.
- 25:37Absolutely, maybe second, who knows, I would say, I would
- 25:41probably say second, And it goes to show I put maybe only behind Anthony
- 25:45Edwards in that draft at this point. Yeah, absolutely, because like,
- 25:49really, who has developed quicker? Like from a sixer standpoint, I mean,
- 25:53I don't even think we could necessarily say that about you know, Joel
- 25:56Embiid. Then again, very different start to their careers. Joel Embiid was
- 26:00injured and injured and injured throughout the course of his early part of his career.
- 26:04But Embiid was a guy too that like, like I remember reading,
- 26:07you know, because there was that the big three in that draft. There
- 26:10was Wiggins and there's the guy he's escaping me. That's so bad that he
- 26:15was the number two overall pick and and and he's escaping me now, and
- 26:18then it was Embiid. And I remember seeing the scouting report on Embiid and
- 26:22it was basically if this guy stays healthy, he could be like a generational
- 26:27talent as a center, and that's come to fruition honestly, So yeah,
- 26:33I mean, but but so there was that okay, yep, yeah,
- 26:41yeah, guy that completely washed out. But now yeah, he's not even
- 26:45is he even playing anymore? Who's he drafted by the Bucks? I think
- 26:48he was. He was a second overall. But yeah, I mean,
- 26:52Wiggins was was quote unquote the guy. I mean, he's had a nice
- 26:56career, he's he's you know, he's had a decent career and he's wanna
- 27:00with Golden State. So yeah, I mean, he's probably got no complaints
- 27:03as far as here his career goes. But yeah, I mean, but
- 27:07Embiid was looked at as like, Okay, if he stays healthy, he's
- 27:11gonna be, you know, the guy for his team. Yeah, whereas
- 27:15I mean, honestly, I remember when Max he was drafted. I was
- 27:18like, Eric was higher on him than I was. I was just like,
- 27:22hopefully he's good. I don't know, but but yeah, he's Uh,
- 27:29he's obviously turned out to be a whole hell of a lot better than
- 27:30I thought it was gonna be. His drive is amazing. You know,
- 27:33just again, like his the way that he is disciplined with his speed is
- 27:40really incredible. And as of a couple of days ago, averaging twenty eight
- 27:44point six points per game, seven point two assists, and five point four
- 27:48rebounds. It's just it's incredible the way that he has developed over these years,
- 27:55and he keeps getting better and better and better. And as Joel Embiid
- 27:59said, you know, and Beide was like, you know, I hope
- 28:00he he remains a Sixer for the rest of his career. If he does,
- 28:04I think we're going to see some real special stuff from him. I
- 28:07mean, even if he's not in Philadelphia, you know, maybe four or
- 28:10five years down the road. I mean, he's going to be due for
- 28:11that contract very very soon. But Len, man, it's just after the
- 28:18drama of last year and after just feeling like this Sixers team wasn't going to
- 28:22be doing anything this season, wasn't going to be going anywhere, and the
- 28:26fact that they are still a top this this Eastern Conference here, and with
- 28:32what Tyrese Maxey has been giving this team and this fan base, it's like,
- 28:37man, you know what this is. I don't think this is going
- 28:38to be a lost season. Yeah, and you know, we knew the
- 28:42scoring was there. We knew, you know, he plays fast. We
- 28:47knew that was there. But what was really like, I don't know if
- 28:51surprised is the right word, but I've just really have been impressed with is
- 28:56you know, Okay, we had that thought of Okay, if Harden can
- 29:00force his way out of Philadelphia, can Tyrese Maxi handle the playmaking duties?
- 29:03Can he be the lead initiator for for this team? And he's done a
- 29:10great job so far going into that. You know, obviously I think he
- 29:12had a bit of a rough game from an assist to turnover standpoint in that
- 29:17Indiana game that they lost, and tonight he had four assists and two turnovers.
- 29:22But prior to those two games, he had a five to one assist
- 29:26the turnover ratio pretty damn good. So he's been He's been really distributing the
- 29:30ball well in addition to the scoring, the shooting, you know, everything
- 29:36that he's been doing has been has been so much better than I thought it
- 29:40was going to be this year. Not that I thought he was going to
- 29:41be bad, but again I didn't expect all this. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:45it's going to be interesting. To see what you know happens the rest of
- 29:48this season, and of course you know we've got we've got the big games
- 29:52coming up on Christmas, still have well over a month before that. But
- 29:56it's gonna be fun. Gonna be fun for sure. And if you are

- 31:07it's been like that for years, for years. I love it. Mister,
- 31:11makes me sound dignified, You're not exactly all right, folks, We're
- 31:18gonna take a quick break. We'll be back in just a bit with some
- 31:21Union talk. We're gonna get in some University of Michigan talk and some Philadelphia
- 31:25Eagles talk. Let's take that break right now. All right, we are
- 31:29back and Len, let's get into this Philadelphia Union team really quick here as
- 31:36they are heading to the Eastern Conference semifinals to face Cincinnati. It's gonna be
- 31:41taking place at the end of November. I don't think they actually have any
- 31:45of the date set in terms of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at this point.
- 31:49They took our business when they faced New England. They won the first two
- 31:53games. It was two out of three games in the first round, and
- 31:57they're looking to potentially make it back to the Eastern Conference Finals. You and
- 32:02I were kind of talking about this a little bit before we hit the record
- 32:06button, but it's it's it's an interesting feel with regard to this Union team
- 32:12because they they didn't have the most inspiring performance to say, leading into this
- 32:21playoff run here, and there's just that there's just this weird air around this
- 32:24team right now, a team that's already you know, carried some questionable vibes
- 32:30really heading into the playoffs here. So, uh, they're gonna be facing
- 32:34Cincinnati. Cincinnati certainly is gonna be a formidable opponent. I wonder if they
- 32:37can get back to the finals. So I don't know, what do you
- 32:42think? What do you think about this team here? Are you kind of
- 32:43getting that as well? Just some some really weird vibes you know from this
- 32:47team heading into uh, you know, this this next round of the playoffs.
- 32:52Well, I think you know, if you're down on those team,
- 32:54chances are you know, it's just because maybe you're comparing it to last year
- 33:00where you know, the Union came in as the number one seed in the
- 33:04East and and they made it through, you know, to the MLS Cup
- 33:07Championship game. Whereas this year there the fourth seed. So it's been a
- 33:13bit of a more down year than it was last year. So if you're
- 33:16making that comparison, that's probably where you're running into a lot of that kind
- 33:22of stuff. They did have some games this year where it's just like and
- 33:25you dropped that one, like, you know, you lost that teams that
- 33:30there were times, you know, and I watched them, you know,
- 33:32a good deal more this year than I was able to in previous years,
- 33:36just because I got that MLS package, so I was able to watch you
- 33:42know, pretty much all the games, or was last year. Quite frankly,
- 33:45I had trouble finding Union games I did, you know, especially you
- 33:52know, living out here in central Pennsylvania. You know, you don't get
- 33:55you know, some of the channels that you that I would get if I
- 33:59was, you know, closer to Norristown where I'm from. Yeah, you
- 34:02know, so yeah, you don't get that stuff. And I just I
- 34:06had trouble, you know, getting some of the games. So yeah,
- 34:08I keep forgetting about cable, dude, because I have because we cut the
- 34:12cable a while ago, and I have LU you know what I mean,
- 34:15And it's such a different world and get it all the time. Yeah,
- 34:17to MLS's credit, you know, they're they're the package that they have with
- 34:23with Apple TV. You know, it's not like you know MLB or or
- 34:29I looked into an NBA League Pass. You know, if I get those,
- 34:34I can't watch the Sixers of the Phillies, whereas with this thing with
- 34:37there's no blackouts. So if I get this package, I can watch my
- 34:42I can watch the Union. I'm not. I don't have that dumb blackout
- 34:45thing. So good on MLS for that. They don't do you know a
- 34:49lot of stuff right, but they got that right for sure. Honestly,
- 34:52it's a lot more than I can say for some of these other leaks.
- 34:55But anyway, I'm kind of going off on a tangent there. So yeah,
- 34:59it's it's it's not what it was last year. And you know,
- 35:01going in this game against Cincinnati, who is the number one seed in the
- 35:05East this year, who has won the Supporter Shield this year as the as
- 35:09the best regular season team in MLS, which you know, the Union did
- 35:15do a couple of years ago. But you know, so they're rightfully looked
- 35:20at as the top dog in the East right now. So I think it
- 35:22is going to be a bit of an uphill climb for the Union, and
- 35:24you know, you have, you know, the situation going on with Kai
- 35:29Wagner, who's one of their best defenders, who you know, is suspended
- 35:35for three games now games for the racial slur against one of the members of
- 35:39the New England Revolution. Yeah. Yeah, And as I understand from reading
- 35:45about it, Bobby Wood is he has African American ethnicity and he has Asian
- 35:49American American ethnicity. I think Wagner said something about the Asian part of him
- 35:54and it was overheard, and you know, Wagner admitted to it, and
- 35:59he's, hey, I apologize, I did do it. But so he's
- 36:02got a three game ban. So he missed the the the second game against
- 36:06New England. He's going to miss this game, and if the Union are
- 36:09fortunate enough to advance, he's going to miss the Eastern Conference Final if if
- 36:15they if and and and that's a three game ban regardless of whatever in MLS.
- 36:20So it's probably gonna be more too, because he admitted to the offense
- 36:24just immediately to the league and in an apology on Instagram as well. Because
- 36:30of that immediate cooperation, the league handed him lighter sentence of the three games,
- 36:35it would have been more. There are other guys that yes, denied
- 36:38it and they got longer sentences because of it. Now, let's say the
- 36:42Union get knocked out here and he signs with and and that's the second game.
- 36:46If he signs with another MLS team next year, he will have to
- 36:51set sit out the first game of that season two, regardless who it's with.
- 36:54But honestly, I think Wagner is heading back to Europe after this year.
- 37:00So I think he's gone from now MLS after this year, regardless of
- 37:06whatever happens. But he's been he's been a great player for the Union.
- 37:09So he's a guy that they're seriously going to miss. Jacob Glesnes is I
- 37:14believe still that with an injury, So that's another guy from their defense they're
- 37:17going to miss. So you know, you're missing some key pieces there.
- 37:22And you know, Cincinnati is not the kind of team that you can afford
- 37:25to have that many guys out against exactly, you know, go on the
- 37:30road and expect to beat them. So I'll be watching. I hope to
- 37:36God the Union can somehow find a way to pull this out. I'm not
- 37:38optimistic I do think that Cincinnati will move on to the Eastern Conference Final,
- 37:44but hey, hopefully I'm wrong. Hopefully. I don't think it's going to
- 37:47be the Union's year. I just don't. Again, it's been a bizarre
- 37:51season. Like I said, there's been a weird feel in the air and
- 37:53atmosphere with regard to this, this playoff, and just just just the vibes
- 38:00arounding this team. So hopefully we're wrong. But we'd love to hear from
- 38:02you. What are you thinking about this Philadelphia sports table at gmail dot com.
- 38:07We'd love to read your email here on the show and respond to it.
- 38:09Yeah, and that game is the twenty fifth of November. Is it
- 38:13officially the twenty fifth? Okay, yeah, there's I think both the Eastern
- 38:16Conference games are that day, and I believe, if I'm not mistaken,
- 38:21that that's the later game, let's say an eight pm start. I gotcha.
- 38:23When I was putting this agenda together, I don't think they actually released
- 38:27the dates yet. Yeah. I just went on ESPN site and that's what
- 38:31it says on it. So hopefully they got their stuff right. All right,
- 38:35sounds good? And lend before I let you head out of here,
- 38:37buddy, and before we get to what we're throwing down on the table,
- 38:40wanted to talk about a certain college football program that's been in the news.
- 38:45You may have heard, folks about the University of Michigan their football program,
- 38:50the scandals, the transgressions, the cheating, the scouting issues that they are
- 38:58dealing with there, Harbaugh getting suspended. And what kills me len is the
- 39:04fan base. And I get that just about every fan base, they like
- 39:07to defend their their team. They like to come to the defense. You
- 39:12know, we do that every now and again in the world of Philly sports.
- 39:15In fact, I think in the world of Philly sports, we're more
- 39:17honest and we're more hard on our teams. And uh, you know,
- 39:22whether it was you know, Penn State from many years ago with Jerry Sandusky,
- 39:25and yes, it's a different, completely different situation than what happened at
- 39:30the University of Michigan and what Harbaugh and his crew were doing. But still,
- 39:35you know, we're honest when it comes to you know what, if
- 39:37somebody did something wrong, you're a jerk, you're an idiot. You gotta
- 39:42face the consequences. But man, I am so tired of this Wolverine fan
- 39:47base. Acting like they are some sort of victims. You know, their
- 39:52fan base really needs to empty out their diapers with regard to this particular situation.
- 39:59And yes, and I get it. There's some debate as to whether
- 40:01or not the Big Ten should have suspended Jim Harbaugh on this past Friday.
- 40:08However, however, the counter argument to that is, you know, was
- 40:14the Big Ten or did they have enough evidence to discipline the program for cheating?
- 40:21Okay, and the punishment, whether or not you agree with it or
- 40:22not, I mean it was pretty weak, to be honest with you.
- 40:27Harbaugh is suspended, but he can still recruit and coach the team during the
- 40:32week, so you know what, I say whatever to this, But at
- 40:37the end of the day, for me, with this entire situation is is
- 40:39that questions still need to be answered. How much did Harbaugh know? Did
- 40:45anyone else on the staff know? How much of a competitive advantage did Michigan
- 40:50gain this year? And even in previous years? You think this was the
- 40:52only year that this was going on. Harbaugh is not a victim. Michigan
- 40:59isn't a vict them. This is the second time he was suspended this year.
- 41:02Don't let all these tears out there full you, folks, Michigan is
- 41:07no longer this you know, lovable underdog trying to win a national title despite
- 41:12you know, not recruiting like Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. You know
- 41:17again, don't let the tears full you. I'm so tired of this storyline
- 41:22of oh poor Michigan, shut up god, it really it really annoys me
- 41:28when it really does. The guy did something. There was certainly some sort
- 41:32of evidence from the Big Ten and or the NCAA to at least suspend him.
- 41:38Man, I could keep going on and pontificating for an hour about this,
- 41:44because it really really bothers me the way that this fan base has reacted
- 41:50to the suspension here. I don't know what are your thoughts on it here,
- 41:53and I'd love to hear what you think of Harball and the Michigan Wolverine
- 41:59football program. Body, well, I'm I don't have the vitriol that you
- 42:07know. I'm not making a joke here. I don't have the vitriol that
- 42:10you do because A, I mean, you actually graduated from the like I
- 42:15can hear in that diatribe that you just had. I can hear the resentment
- 42:21and the vitriol dripping off of you. As a Penn State alum and a
- 42:25diehard Penn State fan, I'm someone that will still watch college football. But
- 42:30basically, you know, you've heard me complain about this before. There's really
- 42:36only about four or five teams that actually have a chance, and that is
- 42:42kind of you know, I and Penn State is not one of those,
- 42:46right, I don't care if Harball was on the sideline or not. Penn
- 42:50State was never winning that game. Penn State, and I'm sorry, is
- 42:55never winning these games against Michigan or Ohio State now with the current structure.
- 43:01Not with the current structure, they are not winning those games. Their ceiling
- 43:07is ten and two, and losing those two games every single year that is
- 43:10their ceiling. So you know, I don't have that thing. But but
- 43:15I look at Michigan and I kind of laugh because it's like, well,
- 43:20okay, do I believe what you know? I've heard, you know,
- 43:23some Michigan fans saying like, oh, all these schools are doing this.
- 43:27Yes, I believe that to be true. I think a lot of schools
- 43:30are doing something like this. But where Michigan gets in trouble is they were
- 43:35so dumb like, thank God they're not arrogant, because they they left a
- 43:42massive paper trail. I mean, You've got a guy that was making fifty
- 43:45grand a year and he's flying all over the place to go to these games.
- 43:50And it's like, I've I've made fifty grand a year before, I
- 43:55can't afford to fly. I make more than that now, and I can't
- 43:59afford to fly, like you know what I mean. It's just like,
- 44:04unless you have zero weather expenses in your life, you can't afford to do
- 44:07that. So it just like guys come on like at least try to cover
- 44:13it up. That's that's where I kind of laugh with the whole thing.
- 44:15And that's where I kind of roll my eyes at the at the Michigan fan
- 44:21base. And and I do agree with them in terms of that. Yeah,
- 44:24I'm sure other schools do this. I would bet almost anything. So
- 44:30yeah, I don't know. I mean, I don't know. I just
- 44:38don't you know. I think the punishment is perfectly fine. I mean I
- 44:44think you could you could have done more to them. I don't really know.
- 44:45I mean maybe in that Ohio State game, maybe having harball on the
- 44:51sideline matters, But does it does a coach. I mean, does a
- 44:53head coach really matter that much? I don't know. I think so to
- 45:00an extent. And I think there's a lot of optics that go into various
- 45:06sports, whether or not it's football, basketball, hockey, there's there are
- 45:10certain optics that I think do help teams in various ways throughout the game.
- 45:16And for me, just with regard to this situation Land, the whole Michigan
- 45:22versus everybody, Oh my god, it just that's, you know, honestly
- 45:28crazy. I think a lot of Like honestly, I I like, I
- 45:31remember, you know, people and you're if you're a fan base that is
- 45:36under attack, and you know, and I'm I'm still I'm I'm Penn State
- 45:42fan too. I I want them to succeed. But everybody was doing that
- 45:46back when you know they were under attack. You remember what that was like,
- 45:51and you remember, like I remember going on ESPN and pissed off at
- 45:53all these you know, death penalty and all this stuff. But sorry,
- 45:58you know, Paterno, if he didn't know, he should have known.
- 46:02I think he probably did know. But if he didn't know, he should
- 46:07have known. And same thing with horrible here. If he didn't know,
- 46:09I don't know how he couldn't have known exactly. He should have known.
- 46:13You are you are the coach, you are the CEO of this enterprise.
- 46:17But he said there's a pay per trail, there's a pay portrayal here.
- 46:21For God's sake, of course he has to know. So yeah, I
- 46:24don't think there's any way he couldn't have known. Yeah, I guess you
- 46:28know before I let you go a buddy and stuff. It's Michigan is paying
- 46:30a consequence for breaking the rules. And yes, there's an ongoing investigation into
- 46:37the sign stealing scandal here to just actually see how deep it goes. Some
- 46:42are going to tell you it was a marginal competitive advantage. Others are going
- 46:46to tell you they were flat out cheating to win games this year and in
- 46:50the past. And there's probably somewhere in the middle there where there's a lot
- 46:52of gray that we're gonna find out some more information. There's an extreme scenario
- 46:58in which, you know, some kid on another team gets run over and
- 47:01gets really hurt by this defense, and they could potentially go and sue.
- 47:07You knew you guys knew this play was coming because of your your your spying.
- 47:12And now I don't have a career anymore, or I can't walk anymore
- 47:15because I walked into you know, three defensive linemen flattening me. So that
- 47:22possibility, you know, as crazy as it sounds, does exist. So
- 47:24yeah, I mean, I just I don't know how you know, how
- 47:30you could possibly think that that he didn't know. I mean it just and
- 47:34and the other thing is, you know, the optics of it. Are
- 47:36you know that this guy is going to end up coaching half a regular season.
- 47:42This isn't his even his first three game suspension this year because of the
- 47:46whole recruiting scandal. So it's just like, dude, you know, at
- 47:51a certain point, you keep having this stuff happen. I mean, and
- 47:55you're looking around at everybody else like come on, man, Like I don't
- 48:00even have the hate for Michigan that I used to have. And it's like,
- 48:02dude, come on, come back to planet Earth, you know what
- 48:06I mean, Like, I just it's crazy to me. It absolutely is.
- 48:09All Right, good conversation there, buddy, good conversation. We're gonna
- 48:14get to some Eagles talking just a bit here with our guest this week,
- 48:17OJ Spivey from the Philadelphia Tribune. So before I let you go. You
- 48:22got any last thoughts here before before we get to what we're thrown down on
- 48:27the table. No, I just I hope the Phillies. I don't know.
- 48:35It's gonna be an interesting offseason. I could have trade happened. I
- 48:38don't know what the Phillies have to put on the table to make it happen.
- 48:42But Dombrowski has done stuff like that in the past, So we'll see
- 48:45what he does, and we'll see what happens with this stretch of games with
- 48:51the Eagles coming up here, you know, tough one against Kansas City and
- 48:57that Buffalo game sudden suddenly doesn't look as tough because they're just a shambles offensively
- 49:02right now. Yep. But they do have a tough stretch coming up,
- 49:06so it'll be interesting. It will be interesting, for sure. So buddy,
- 49:08I'm gonna let you head out of here. Getta get some good sleep
- 49:13tonight. Okay, get some good sleep. How you been sleeping lately?
- 49:17Well, I mean, being on vacation definitely helps the Yeah, I'll probably
- 49:22wash them dishes and have a couple more beers and then I'll come to that
- 49:25nice Yeah. I can't tell you after this election, Like I'm sleeping so
- 49:29well. I honestly feel like I have a five hundred pound weight off my
- 49:32shoulders, like I have, Like I feel like I have hardly any stress
- 49:37throughout the day. And of course I'm busy with my job, with my
- 49:40side business. I'm busy with the show here and stuff like that. But
- 49:44it's like, man, I got like a five hundred pound weight off my
- 49:46shoulders. It's fantastic. It's like the stress level it's down so significantly.
- 49:52And that's why I don't know why anybody gets involved in politics, like honestly,
- 49:58because it's it's it's like, you know, it's like asking the pretty
- 50:01girl out and and you know, maybe she's gonna say no. It's a
- 50:06referendum not only on you as as a person that has these principles of these
- 50:10policies, but it's you know, kind of a referendum on like the way
- 50:15people view you as a person. And that's like, that's a hell of
- 50:19a thing to put yourself through every couple of years. I don't know why
- 50:22people do it. I really don't. I don't know why I do it.
- 50:25I'm just kidding, I know why I do it. But all right,
- 50:29well, buddy, I'm gonna let you go. We are gonna get
- 50:31to some Eagles talk, but we do need to take a break. We
- 50:34will be back in just a bit. All right, we are back,
- 50:37man. Let's get to this interview and discussion right now about the challenges that
- 50:43are going to be facing this Philadelphia Eagles team after the bye week. As
- 50:45Len mentioned, you know we got Kansas City Chiefs coming up, Bills,
- 50:50Dallas Cowboys are going to be coming up as well. That's not going to
- 50:52be an easy game. Those division games, we know how they go.
- 50:55Let's get to our guest this week and this discussion. It's what we're throwing
- 50:59tow on the table and now on the table, and it is great to
- 51:06have back on the show. He is the award winning sports and culture journalist
- 51:12over at the Philadelphia Tribune. You can find him on the Twitter. I'm
- 51:16not calling it x yet, find him on Twitter at OJ Philly. We've
- 51:21got OJ Spivey. How you doing, buddy, Thanks for joining us this
- 51:22week. I'm great, Jeff, Thanks so much for having me. It's
- 51:27great to have you, man. It's I cannot wait for this game.
- 51:30The anticipation of what this Eagles Chiefs game is going to be this week,
- 51:35And it wasn't necessarily going to be talking about this with you more along the
- 51:37lines of the challenges that this Eagles team is going to be facing in the
- 51:40coming weeks here and months. But man, this this upcoming game, it
- 51:45is going to be I think a great one for us to you know,
- 51:49remember at some point the other when we're talking about this season, This particular
- 51:52game, I have a feeling is going to be one of those that we're
- 51:54going to remember. Yeah, thanks so, Jeff. And not only you
- 51:59know, well the networks this week hype it up as a uh, you
- 52:02know, super Bowl revenge game or you know, the Super Bowl. You
- 52:07can look at it that way, but I also think that it's an important
- 52:10game for both teams, uh, to just measure themselves as far as,
- 52:15okay, who is the best team not only in the in your conference,
- 52:20but who is the best team in the NFL. And you have one game
- 52:23separating separating each team. Of course, Eagles want to maintain having that number
- 52:30one seed, having that pole position in the NFC, and the Chiefs do
- 52:34as well. But over in the AFC, I think it's more of a
- 52:37toss up and I think it's a little more wide open. Chiefs look a
- 52:40little more vulnerable than the Eagles do. And you know, we'll we'll talk
- 52:45about, you know, the Eagles challenges, I'm sure, but it's a
- 52:49threat measurements stick for both teams to see where they stand as far as you
- 52:53know, who ranks as the best team in the NFL. Absolutely when you
- 52:57said it oj right there talking about some check challenges with this Eagles team,
- 53:01Let's get into it, because this is not a perfect team by any stretch
- 53:06of the imagination, from the offensive side of the ball, defensive side of
- 53:08the ball, even special teams. So I really first would like to get
- 53:12into where the running game has gone, where this Eagles rushing attack has really
- 53:17gone, because DeAndre Swift is a great running back in my opinion, in
- 53:22this league, and you know, he and this Eagles rushing attack, they
- 53:25started out so strong this season. However, we've been seeing this rushing attack
- 53:30really kind of take a back seat to an extent over over many weeks here,
- 53:35and I'm wondering, are you feeling the same way. You know,
- 53:37we certainly read the stats, we certainly read box scores, but I just
- 53:42get that feeling that there is not as much prevalent, whether it's game preparation
- 53:46or in game decision making focused on the rushing game and rushing attack. It
- 53:52just doesn't seem like it's getting over the hump when it needs to be at
- 53:55times during the games. What are your thoughts here with regard to the rushing
- 53:58attack and what we might see in terms of its challenges in the future here,
- 54:02h Jeff, I don't think you can just pinpoint one thing as far
- 54:07as what's wrong with the running game. I think it's a it's a handful
- 54:09of things. You can start with it being a product of hearst injury,
- 54:15as far as being a being a dual threat. Uh, you can also
- 54:17talk about I think it's still a lack of running running back death. You
- 54:22know, we we've seen Swift get the run of the carries this year.
- 54:27This is also new for him. He has not the ball, uh,
- 54:30you know, for an entire season, whether that be injuries, whether that
- 54:34just be touches and everything. So that's one thing that I want to keep
- 54:38an eye on, you know, as we look at the second half of
- 54:42the season so to speak, you know, can he carry the load the
- 54:45rest of the season. Also I think you look at the injuries at right
- 54:49guard. We know Cam Jurgens was out, uh you know these last four
- 54:52or five games or so, he wasn't quite ready to come back against the
- 54:57Cowboys. Hopefully they have him back, uh this this uh this coming week.
- 55:02OpEd it was okay, was okay. We saw Tyler Steen, who
- 55:07they're high on at right guard. You know, he was pretty solid,
- 55:10but I still think, you know, he needs time and to possibly be
- 55:15the heir apparent at that position, which are what the Eagles are looking for
- 55:19in him. And you know, again just as the running back deph Boston
- 55:23Scott has been hurt, and you know, the mystery of Rasha Penney,
- 55:28I'm still wondering, you know, if dog had he not hes not picked
- 55:32up the offense or is he not as good as Harry Roseman anticipated when he
- 55:38picked him up in the off season. But he's really in my opinion,
- 55:43I think he is that type of back that can carry the look, that
- 55:45should be able to carry a load in short guardage. And you know,
- 55:50we looked at the end of the Cowboys game, it was close because they
- 55:52weren't able to close it out. You know as well, I'm sure we'll
- 55:55mention as well. But I would think I would have thought coming into the
- 56:00season that with Shapenny is the perfect ven for you to get those tough carries
- 56:05at the end of the game and keep the chains moving and keep a great
- 56:08offense like Dallas off the field. But that just hasn't happened. So you
- 56:14know, those are a lot of factors that we'll see. Hopefully so can
- 56:16carry the load. And I think even most importantly, once Cam Jurgens comes
- 56:22back, you'll have a little more camaraderie with that offensive line, and you
- 56:25know old lines, they love to run the ball more than anything else.
- 56:30So we'll just see what happens with that. Absolutely look that you know,
- 56:34there's a lot of question marks with regard to the offense. And you know,
- 56:37as I mentioned just a few minutes ago, offensively, things are certainly
- 56:42not perfect with this Eagles team. Yet yet they are in I think a
- 56:45great position from an offensive rankings perspective when you look at the data that is
- 56:51available to us, So I wonder OJ, you know, what do you
- 56:55see now is the biggest challenge with this offense as it relates to the passing
- 57:00game. Now that datas now the Dallas Goddard is going to be missing some
- 57:05time because we know how prolific Davante Smith is, how prolific AJ Brown is.
- 57:10Of course, but part of me thinks that you need more playmakers to
- 57:15be able to get the ball down the field. Dallas Goddard was certainly one
- 57:19of those players who's again going to be missing some time here. What is
- 57:22the biggest challenge as it relates to the passing game with this offense? In
- 57:25your opinion, yeah, I think now between Nick Sirianni and Brian Johnson,
- 57:30they have to get a little more creative offensively. Now we've Goddard out because
- 57:35he did give you that third element, that solid third element in the passing
- 57:39game here and lockdown on Devonte Smith or AJ Brown you had to account for
- 57:47Dallas got it down the middle, down the seams, so they're going to
- 57:51be missing that. And with their lack of tight end depth, you know,
- 57:53I know they have guys like Kakaterra and Stole who are pretty good blockers,
- 57:59but they're not necessarily great pass catchers. And unlike what we've seen in
- 58:04years past where you had the abundance of tight ends who catched the football with
- 58:08for course, Thatchertz, you know, who will probably be looked at as
- 58:12an all time egle, and then you they've drafted Dallas Goddard to be his
- 58:16heir apparent. And there were times where you had both those guys out there
- 58:20where you know, you didn't have to worry about having a drop off as
- 58:23far as a tight end position. But that's gonna be a challenge. So
- 58:28you know, Brian Johnson and Nick Serianni, they have to be more creative
- 58:31as far as from a side standpoint, maybe we'll see more uh more plays
- 58:36from uh more plays, more touches from Julio Jones because he's about as big
- 58:42as a tight end. I was actually gonna ask you about that. I'm
- 58:45glad you went down that path here with regard to this particular topic, because
- 58:50I wonder if there could be a transition not to necessarily make Julio Jones the
- 58:53next tight end or Philadelphia Eagles, but in order for him to get involved
- 58:59in the past game from that tight end perspective. Perhaps I'm wondering if that
- 59:04is something we're going to see a little bit more of in the weeks to
- 59:06come. Yeah, I think you might have something there, Jeff, because
- 59:09when you look back at the touchdown that Jones had down in DC against the
- 59:16Commanders, I mean it was pretty much a tight end play and also something
- 59:22that you know, he's been known as a wide receiver, so you know,
- 59:24to make those tough catches down the middle because he has so much size,
- 59:29uh in physicality, So you know that may be something they may have
- 59:32up their sleeve. And you know, of course, the more weapons you
- 59:36have on the field, the more difficult it is for the defense, uh
- 59:39to you know, uh kind of defend you and the Chiefs come in.
- 59:45They'll be coming. They'll be coming in. Not want say coming in,
- 59:47but you know, Eagles will be coming to Kansas City facing a great Chiefs
- 59:52defense. And you look at the statistics as as you mentioned earlier, Kansas
- 59:57City has been winning a lot of their games on a defense incise. So
- 1:00:00that's another challenge for the Eagles. You know, how are you going to
- 1:00:04scheme and you know, play four quarters with this offense and now that you
- 1:00:07have one less weapon and Dallas Goddard, they certainly had to be smart,
- 1:00:12strategic and of course creators. Absolutely, the Eagles are going to be going
- 1:00:16up against or I should say this Eagles offense and Jalen Hurt's going to be
- 1:00:20going up the number four defense in the league and the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 1:00:23Folks, if you didn't listen to our Opposition Territory show this past week previewing
- 1:00:28this show, talked about it with our guest and the fact that you know,
- 1:00:30it's like they're a sneaky defensive type of team and really been keeping them
- 1:00:36in games. Ojay and I wonder how this is going to relate them to
- 1:00:39also not just this game, but the future the challenges that even Jalen Hurts
- 1:00:44may actually have, because it's interesting to look at Jalen Hurts's rushing stats this
- 1:00:49season compared to last season. And I say this because certain folks with an
- 1:00:52Eagles nation, they don't believe that Jalen Hurts has been really utilizing his legs
- 1:00:57as much this year. And don't get me wrong, I'd like I was
- 1:00:59one of those people maybe about six weeks ago saying, you know, what
- 1:01:02is happening in terms of him being able to extend plays and get the ball
- 1:01:07down the field himself with his legs. But in fifteen games last season,
- 1:01:12he rushed the ball one hundred and sixty five times for seven hundred and sixty
- 1:01:16yards thirteen touchdowns this season after nine games, eighty eight attempts for three hundred
- 1:01:22and sixteen yards and seven touchdowns. I mean, this is not a significant
- 1:01:27drop here for Jalen Hurts that we're seeing, even though part of it feels
- 1:01:30like it is maybe from time to time quarter to quarter. So Ojay,
- 1:01:35what if any challenges do you see with Jalen Hurts in terms of his rushing
- 1:01:39ability, using his legs and really how that correlates with the passing game as
- 1:01:44well. Yeah, I think you just have to look at you know,
- 1:01:49his his presumed mysterious Bruce knee. Now there you go, he hasn't been
- 1:01:54just as as much. We don't know the extent of it. We don't
- 1:01:58know the exactly when he did bruise his knee. Uh, you know,
- 1:02:02he's not gonna give us anything. Of course, the Eagles aren't gonna give
- 1:02:05us anything as much as we have tried to press them. Uh, in
- 1:02:08the in the in the press conferences, he's leaving press conferences. You know,
- 1:02:15you know, Carrianne's skirting around it. But you know that's what you
- 1:02:19have to look at. But it's also been a positive too. And I
- 1:02:22know a lot of his deterrence or his critics, you know, says,
- 1:02:28oh yeah, you know, you're not a great quarterback until you went in
- 1:02:30the pocket. But he's shown that not only this year but last year as
- 1:02:34well. But it is positive because it just proved time and time again that
- 1:02:38he can win from the procket and someone like probably like you and me,
- 1:02:44always believed that he could. But you know, going forward, the best
- 1:02:50jailer hurts is to dual threat jaaler hurts. So hopefully through this buy he
- 1:02:54was able to get some rest. Maybe it healed some again, we don't
- 1:02:59know. We'll probably never know, right I you know how he moves around
- 1:03:04and his mobility on the field, but hopefully he's able to he was able
- 1:03:07to get some rest, and as the season goes along, who'll be able
- 1:03:12to be that dual threat because that also helps the offense as well. Absolutely,
- 1:03:16folks talking to Oj Spivey from the Philadelphia Tribune at OJ Philly on the
- 1:03:22Twitter dot com. And let's move over to the defensive side of things here,
- 1:03:25Oj, because first time you appeared on our podcast back during training camp,
- 1:03:30what a great discussion we had then but we talked about the linebacker position
- 1:03:36and some concerns you know, that I had about the direction of that unit.
- 1:03:39I think we both had some concerns as well with some of the personnel
- 1:03:44that they lost from last year. Back then when we talked during training camp,
- 1:03:47Miles Jack was on the team. I can't believe I actually just mentioned
- 1:03:51that name right now, because it seems like forever ago that he was,
- 1:03:54you know, trying to make this roster and trying to continue to be a
- 1:03:57relevant linebacker in this league. We talked about what type of expectations we should
- 1:04:02have for Nakobe Dean this season as well. And while we've seen some really
- 1:04:06good stuff from Zach Cunningham, for sure, he's been pretty solid this season
- 1:04:12for a guy on a one year deal, it seems like Nakobe Dean,
- 1:04:15on the other hand, hasn't really been able to hit his stride yet simply
- 1:04:18because of injuries. And I'm wondering, like, what challenges do you see
- 1:04:24Nakobe Dean having on the field, and how will his injury history kind of
- 1:04:29now impact his development. What are your thoughts and like how this all relates
- 1:04:32to the linebacker position too. Yeah, it's it's it's a couple of things
- 1:04:38to look at going forward. You know, you mentioned it. Dean has
- 1:04:43had a couple of injuries both last year and now this year. And you
- 1:04:46know, whenever you get a foot injury, those things are scary because those
- 1:04:48things can linger. Foot injuries tend to take longer to heal than other joints
- 1:04:54in the body. Not speaking as a doctor, but just from you know,
- 1:04:57experience, from what we're seeing with a athletes from all sports, you
- 1:05:00know, whether it be football, basketball, so so forth. So that's
- 1:05:04a challenge for him. And you know, I know a lot of people
- 1:05:09have been down on the Kobe Dean. He's still learning the position. So
- 1:05:15you know a lot of times you don't give the key to the defense to
- 1:05:17a rookie. Well, he was essentially a rookie this year, you know,
- 1:05:23being out of the second year and with those injuries, but he's still
- 1:05:27learned the position. I still think he was solid, you know, and
- 1:05:30in certain parts certain games and everything, because you know, you go back
- 1:05:34and look at the statu sheet, you go back and look at film.
- 1:05:38I think you said a couple of games this year where he's had nine ten
- 1:05:41tackles and all I mean, you know, you don't want your you know,
- 1:05:44the back end of your defense or the middle of your defense making all
- 1:05:46the tackles, right, you know, he has he has done that as
- 1:05:51far as being solid as you know, if a play comes to him,
- 1:05:55he will make the play and in the play as far as tackling is concerned.
- 1:06:00But just the thing about Nikoloby Dean, he just doesn't have that factor
- 1:06:03yet. I don't know if he ever was ever will, but you know,
- 1:06:08he just doesn't give you the idea that he's going to be a playmaker
- 1:06:12or a great playmaker. But we just see him hopefully for a full season
- 1:06:17next year and it might be a put up or shut up a year for
- 1:06:21him, even though he'll being his third year. But you know, injuries
- 1:06:27can you know, always curtail someone's development. So I'll kind of give him
- 1:06:31a mulligan on that because he has been hurt. But I think next year
- 1:06:35is really the tell tale sign for Nikoby Dean going forward. And also Zach
- 1:06:42Cunningham, Nicholas Morrow. I love those guys. They they're all over the
- 1:06:46field. They seem like they can cover as well as tackle and make plays
- 1:06:51here and there or to be forced fumbles, interceptions. But my issue is
- 1:06:59that it's been so long that the Eagles really have a philosophy except for Nolan
- 1:07:06Smith, and we want to see, you know, how he comes along
- 1:07:09as well, because but I think he's more so like the edge rusher and
- 1:07:13waiting and training. I should say, but you know, every year we're
- 1:07:18always saying, Okay, who's going to be the inside linebackers? I know
- 1:07:23they only play two linebackers, they basically are on the inside. But I
- 1:07:27believe both Cunningham and World want to be free agents again, so we're going
- 1:07:30to be revisiting this back in the spring. So I just wish that you
- 1:07:36know, this is why I'm rooting so hard for Nikoby Dean because I just
- 1:07:41would love to see some stability at that linebacker position. A great, great
- 1:07:45word, stability for the linebacker position. And look, you know, our
- 1:07:48good friend, our mutual friend, Matt Rodgers, and I have talked Matt
- 1:07:53Rogers from the Honorable Mention Podcast have talked a number of times this season,
- 1:07:57especially on our Eagles postgame shows, about you know, whether or not Matt
- 1:08:00says whether or not we should should use the B word for Nakobe Dean,
- 1:08:04and I'm like, oh know about that yet. You know, let's not
- 1:08:06with the car before the horse here. But look as we look at this
- 1:08:11defense, remember too, Jeff. Sorry, but you know he's a third
- 1:08:15round pick, So there you go. I mean it's really easy to say,
- 1:08:18you know, we're we'll quick to say, you know, someone's a
- 1:08:20bus would there first a second rounder, but he's a third round pick and
- 1:08:27you know what you get from him, you know, remains to be seen.
- 1:08:30But you know, I'm not I'm not that quick to call him a
- 1:08:32bus just yet. So what they how they bring, how they brought him
- 1:08:36along so far, and what they're asking to do. I'm just gonna hold
- 1:08:40off maybe just one more year before I see that exactly, Matt. If
- 1:08:43you're listening to this, buddy, let's hold off on the B word.
- 1:08:45Okay, but let's say let's talk about you know, this Eagle secondary here,
- 1:08:50Oj because I mean, they've gone through some bubs and bruises as we
- 1:08:55know so far this season for sure, and Howie Roseman you know, moves
- 1:09:00help bolster this secondary before the trade deadline. But they man, they're still
- 1:09:04struggling every now and then and again, you know, our friend of the
- 1:09:08pod here, Matt Rodgers and I we've talked about James Bradberry a number of
- 1:09:12times this season and how it just looks like James Bradberry is slower perhaps this
- 1:09:18year. I can't necessarily put my finger on how or why. And first
- 1:09:24I guess, one are you seeing this? And two, like, what
- 1:09:28challenges are going to persist with this secondary in the coming weeks in your opinion,
- 1:09:31because you know they're going to be facing some pretty good quarterbacks here.
- 1:09:34What are your thoughts here? Oj? Right, again, it's a number
- 1:09:40of things. It's hard to answer the Eagles challenges being at eight and one
- 1:09:45exactly. I do feel stupid at times, like I'm writing Eagles challenges,
- 1:09:48you know, and I'm like, really eight and one, Jeff, come
- 1:09:51on, and you know, yes, but they are present. So yes.
- 1:09:56But as far as Bradbury's concerned, I don't think he's particularly had a
- 1:09:59good year. I do agree with that. I don't think he's necessarily slower,
- 1:10:03but I think it's a number of things. Uh, they have asked
- 1:10:06a lot of him this year, and you know, there was a lot
- 1:10:10of talk of him, uh playing the slot, which he ended up playing.
- 1:10:13Us playing the slot this year once Maddox was out for the season,
- 1:10:17which looked like a disaster, and I thought that was a bad idea anyway
- 1:10:21from you know, when we heard the rummings of him getting snaps at the
- 1:10:26slot position, and again it just goes back to depth. I think Howie
- 1:10:31Roseman has done a decent job as plugging guys in there as far as slot
- 1:10:36secondary, but they have asked a lot of Bradberry. I think they've asked
- 1:10:41a lot of the secondary period. So I think he's taken chances, more
- 1:10:46chances than ever before. I think he's trying to make up for the lack
- 1:10:51of depth as well. It's that seems to be fluid on film, so
- 1:10:59you know, sometimes you want to make up and you just want to try
- 1:11:01to make plays. You end up getting beat or maybe your technique is off.
- 1:11:06And and I know he realizes that, you know, and he's been
- 1:11:11forthcoming uh in the press conferences and after games and everything, how he's played,
- 1:11:15how he has to improve. And you also have some moving parts at
- 1:11:18the safety position because of injury, because if you know, if you don't
- 1:11:23have any stability back there, you know, reblanking ship Uh was out a
- 1:11:28couple of games, a game or two. I believe you know it was
- 1:11:31never stable at the beginning of the season, because I think they're now just
- 1:11:34getting Justin Evans back the tree to acquire Kevin Bayer. I mean that tells
- 1:11:40you all. You all you need to know how much they help they needed
- 1:11:44add safety and again when you just plug and play each year, I want
- 1:11:50to say that, I say, who was the guy that they lost?
- 1:11:56Johnson? Your garden got Johnson everything. I know everybody was down on him
- 1:12:00for the type of contract that he wanted, but there were some stability there.
- 1:12:05So when you lose that and then you have someone new getting in that
- 1:12:11position. You know, they tried Evans, he got hurt, they put
- 1:12:15Emmons in there. He's no longer there, he's in Tennessee. He got
- 1:12:17be badly and everything. So there's just a number of things with brad Berry,
- 1:12:23and again he's taken responsibility of that, and hopefully as they get healthier
- 1:12:28with the safety position and with slot corners, that they'll be able to be
- 1:12:33a little more stable. And you probably could say the same thing about Slay
- 1:12:36as well. I know he's me probably a few more pleas than Bradbury,
- 1:12:41but I think both of those guys, it's a whole lot of pressure on
- 1:12:44them to kind of hold it down and let's not let the pass rush off.
- 1:12:48The hope too. They have come around. Cion Reddick has been great,
- 1:12:54you know since he since he got the cast off. You know who
- 1:12:58else isn't at their great just when they were wearing the cast right, so,
- 1:13:00you know, but he's been shot out of the canon ever since he
- 1:13:06got out of that cast on his hand and everything. But the past us
- 1:13:10has been a little better. And again you've had some injuries there, you
- 1:13:14know, Card has been nicked up, Davis has been nicked up as well.
- 1:13:18So we'll see what happens. Yep, we'll see what happens. It's
- 1:13:21amazing to say, you know, I feel like he's still early in his
- 1:13:26career and that is one of Vonte Maddox and how he really seems to be
- 1:13:30the glue that helps to keep the defensive backs all together in a way and
- 1:13:35for productivity game by game. Not having Avonte Maddox being that glue there is
- 1:13:42really showing us what type of impact he really does have on the field at
- 1:13:45times, even though we may not be calling his name all the time.
- 1:13:47When he is healthy and when he is playing week after week, he really
- 1:13:51is the glue that really keeps this defensive backfield together. At least I think,
- 1:13:57yeah, it's a shame that he can't stay healthy because you said it
- 1:14:00best, Jeff. You know, they're the defense is that much better and
- 1:14:04you know, uh, you talk to the people who you know, study
- 1:14:09these things. He was often ranked as the number one slot corner in the
- 1:14:13NFL. So anytime you want to be a big drop off, I don't
- 1:14:16care who. I'm sorry to interrupt you. No, no, it's good.
- 1:14:23I mean, you know, as they get healthy, you know,
- 1:14:26and and I've talked to guys like Eli Rix personally, who's an under at
- 1:14:30the free agent. He's actually played well, you know when you look back
- 1:14:33at at the games and you look back at the film and and everything.
- 1:14:39But you know, hopefully health will will come to play and they'll be able
- 1:14:44to, you know, overcome all of the flip sort of radar that we
- 1:14:48see from eight It what exactly I was just gonna say, Remember, folks
- 1:14:51still eight in one on the season atop the NFC. So that being said,
- 1:14:58again, folks are talking about Jay Spivey at OJ Philly on Twitter and
- 1:15:01make sure you head on over to the Philadelphia Tribune and check out everything he's
- 1:15:05writing. Great, great writer. And as we're closing things out here,
- 1:15:10OJ, you know, there's so much good when we look at this team
- 1:15:14overall again, yes, eight and one, and you know, as we've
- 1:15:16been discussing here, they're not perfect either. But what is the biggest under
- 1:15:21the radar challenge for this Eagles team as they're looking to show the world that
- 1:15:27they really can be in our true contenders and to potentially get back to that
- 1:15:30Super Bowl? What's that? What's the biggest under the radar challenge for them
- 1:15:34as we're as we're moving into a week eleven here. Yeah, I just
- 1:15:39think it comes down to sorry, no, I think it comes down to
- 1:15:45as we as fans, we as media, we're just waiting for them to
- 1:15:47play that perfect game, to put four quarters together, you know, week
- 1:15:53by week. You know, maybe it's the offense sputtering towards the ends of
- 1:15:56games, or it's the defense they're letting guys like see him Howe, you
- 1:16:01know, look like joke Thiseman, or look like Sonny Jurgensen or somebody like
- 1:16:05that, uh, you know, throwing four three four hundred yards and you
- 1:16:10know, just giving everybody a heart attack with these one score in the game
- 1:16:15victories. They just have to put it all together. But also that may
- 1:16:18be a good thing as well, because you do not want to see your
- 1:16:24football team peak too early. And you know, and I think we're getting
- 1:16:29spoiled, you know around here, you know, as fans and spoils of
- 1:16:34the fans and people who cover the Eagles because you know, they're eight and
- 1:16:40one in consecutive years. I mean, most teams in uh, in the
- 1:16:45NFL don't do that that that's not like a sustainable way because the NFL has
- 1:16:49so much parody and it's it's so much year to year. But you know,
- 1:16:55you have to take put that in perspective. But you know it'll also
- 1:16:59be good for them too because when it comes time, let's just say they
- 1:17:02go ahead and secured the number one seed in the NFC getting through this stretch
- 1:17:06of Dallas, Kansas City, now Buffalo. You know, they don't look
- 1:17:12as good right now. Once they get through this rough stretch and everything,
- 1:17:15if they can get out of it with maybe one loss, or if they
- 1:17:19can get out of it with zero losses and everything, we'll look at that
- 1:17:24and we'll say, Okay, they've been battle tested, and you'll feel much
- 1:17:29more confident about them going into the playoffs because they would have beaten the best
- 1:17:33already. Absolutely, and again, folks, you know I said week ten,
- 1:17:39it is week eleven coming up here. For God's sake, my brain
- 1:17:42is putting at this point exactly, always does, always does again, folks.
- 1:17:47OJ Spivey from the Philadelphia Tribune, OJ, thank you so much,
- 1:17:51buddy, love talking to you. I would love to have you on down
- 1:17:56the road. Let's talk more Eagles. Some NFL would love to have you
- 1:17:59back, my friend. Thank you, Jeff, as always, and I'll
- 1:18:02be happy to do it anytime. Yeah, things are definitely not perfect for
- 1:18:06the Philadelphia Eagles, but it's amazing the team is eight and one, and
- 1:18:10Oj is absolutely correct. I mean, I think it's something we just need
- 1:18:13to keep in mind. Let's keep enjoying this, really, let's keep enjoying
- 1:18:15this. Sometimes I think as Philly sports fans, we just are waiting for
- 1:18:19that shoot a drop and we're waiting for something terrible to happen where we can
- 1:18:25say, oh, we know what was gonna happen. H this team wasn't
- 1:18:28who we thought we were. Blah blah blah. Let's continue to enjoy this.
- 1:18:30Yes, it's gonna be a challenging stretch coming up with these next few
- 1:18:35games, and especially with regard to the Dallas Cowboys a divisional game. We
- 1:18:40know what happened earlier this season when the Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys at the
- 1:18:45Link. They're gonna be heading down to Texas to face them in the coming
- 1:18:48weeks. It's gonna be a tough matchup, folks. It's gonna be tough.
- 1:18:51It just is the way that this NFC East continues to battle it out
- 1:18:56week after week, team by team. But again, eight and one,
- 1:19:00this Philadelphia Eagles team is showing us some real special stuff right now, even
- 1:19:04though the challenges are there, so let's keep enjoying it. So all right,
- 1:19:10folks, that's gonna do it for us this week. It was great
