- 0:00Today we're highlighting a major innovation from
- 0:02Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, a standardised
- 0:06and digitally optimised design for 132 kV substations.
- 0:12The purpose is to strengthen the efficiency and
- 0:15resilience of Dubai's electricity infrastructure
- 0:17while accelerating project delivery and standardising
- 0:21engineering and technical criteria. The achievement
- 0:25has also received international recognition.
- 0:28Developed by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority's
- 0:32Transmission Power Division, this practice earned
- 0:36a six -star rating at the International Best
- 0:39Practice Competition. The practical impact is
- 0:43substantial. The standardised digital design
- 0:46has supported the construction of 90 132 kV substations,
- 0:51with 23 commissioned during the first half of
- 0:552026. It has reduced the total time required
- 0:58for substation design and implementation by more
- 1:02than two months and lowered costs by approximately
- 1:05$5 ,080 ,000 per substation. His Excellency Saeed
- 1:10Mohammed Al -Tayyar, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity
- 1:16and Water Authority, said, The strategic projects
- 1:19implemented as part of this integrated digital
- 1:23approach underscore Dubai Electricity and Water
- 1:27Authority's commitment to fulfilling the aspirations
- 1:30of our wise leadership to make Dubai the world's
- 1:35smartest and most sustainable city. We continue
- 1:39to develop electricity transmission networks
- 1:42in line with a forward -looking vision that keeps
- 1:45pace with Dubai's urban and economic growth while
- 1:50providing advanced, resilient and reliable electrical
- 1:54infrastructure. The standardised and digitally
- 1:58optimised design for 132 kV substations is not
- 2:04merely an engineering or operational development.
- 2:08Rather, it represents a strategic pillar in Dubai's
- 2:13smart energy transition journey. It directly
- 2:17supports our efforts to improve grid efficiency,
- 2:20accelerate project delivery, enhance the quality
- 2:24of engineering outputs and strengthen planning
- 2:28and implementation efficiency. This, in turn,
- 2:33increases our capacity to meet growing electricity
- 2:36demand and reinforces Dubai's position as a global
- 2:41leader in developing smart, sustainable, resilient
- 2:46and future -ready energy networks that meet the
- 2:50highest international standards, said His Excellency
- 2:54Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayyar. MD and CEO of Dubai
- 2:59Electricity and Water Authority. He added, This
- 3:05design is particularly significant in light of
- 3:08the continuous expansion of Dubai Electricity
- 3:11and Water Authority's power transmission network,
- 3:14opening new horizons for the deployment of fourth
- 3:18industrial revolution technologies, most notably
- 3:21artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
- 3:25The sustainability results are equally notable.
- 3:28The design reduced annual energy consumption
- 3:31by the equivalent of 182 megawatt hours and lowered
- 3:36carbon emissions by approximately 447 .24 tonnes
- 3:42of carbon dioxide annually. The new design also
- 3:46eliminated around 8 ,000 electronic parts and
- 3:50140 kilometres of copper wiring. In addition,
- 3:55optimizing the substation layout and footprint
- 3:58reduced the total construction area by 220 square
- 4:02meters and saved approximately 12 ,720 gallons
- 4:06of water annually used for cooling and auxiliary
- 4:10systems at each substation. executive vice president
- 4:15of transmission power at Dubai Electricity and
- 4:19Water Authority, noted that the standardised
- 4:22design is based on a repeatable and continuously
- 4:25improvable engineering model, helping reduce
- 4:28variations between projects, improve coordination
- 4:32among engineering and technical teams, and accelerate
- 4:35workflows from planning through implementation
- 4:38readiness. In short, This innovation combines
- 4:42digital optimization, lower costs, faster execution,
- 4:47and stronger sustainability performance to support
- 4:50a more resilient and future -ready transmission
- 4:53network for Dubai.
