Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to another Radio Archive Hour from the Hall of
- 0:02Speaker 1: Fame Phil Hendry Radio Show and philhendryshow.com. And here we
- 0:06Speaker 1: have our Egyptian businessman friend, Raj Faneen, longtime friend of
- 0:10Speaker 1: the show. And Raj took his family on a recent
- 0:13Speaker 1: trip to Disneyland. And he went on the Jungle Cruise ride,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and he felt offended by the attendants' comments. You know,
- 0:20Speaker 1: those guys on the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland, they're pretty
- 0:22Speaker 1: funny guys. They, you know, do the one-liners. And I
- 0:25Speaker 1: guess Raj felt really offended. about some of the comments like,
- 0:29Speaker 1: look at that guy running up that pole away from
- 0:30Speaker 1: the rhinoceros, stuff like that. So he took the comments
- 0:33Speaker 1: very personally, and he believes he speaks on behalf of
- 0:36Speaker 1: all Arab Americans. Here's Raj.
- 0:38Speaker 2: And now, for something very, very wrong, The Phil Hendry Show.
- 0:44Speaker 3: We have with us Mr. Raj Fanin. Mr. Fanin's a
- 0:46Speaker 3: businessman from Orange County, talking with us about, you had
- 0:50Speaker 3: mentioned one of the Disney rides, took the family to
- 0:52Speaker 3: Disneyland for the first time.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Yes, this is for the first time this past weekend.
- 0:58Speaker 3: And this was in Anaheim?
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:01Speaker 3: You went on the jungle cruise.
- 1:04Speaker 4: The first thing I want to say, Mr. Henry, is
- 1:08Speaker 4: that Disneyland is a place that has been sensitive to
- 1:13Speaker 4: the comments of other people, you know, women who had been.
- 1:19Speaker 3: You mentioned Pirates of the Caribbean?
- 1:20Speaker 4: Yes, women who had been... upset with his pirates. They
- 1:26Speaker 4: changed the pirates to the Caribbean, you know. But I
- 1:30Speaker 4: think the same courtesy should be extended to immigrant people
- 1:33Speaker 4: who are Arab with regard to this ride that we
- 1:37Speaker 4: saw on this jungle ride, you know.
- 1:41Speaker 3: You went to Disneyland just to be with the family.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Yes. My son said that he wanted to go to Disneyland.
- 1:48Speaker 4: I'm not... I'm not a particular fan of this kind
- 1:53Speaker 4: of thing, but we said we'll take him, you know,
- 1:57Speaker 4: and we went to this Disneyland. And some of the
- 2:02Speaker 4: things that we said, that are said by these people
- 2:05Speaker 4: on the ride are offensive to us.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Tell me, on the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland, and
- 2:11Speaker 3: I don't know if anybody out there, people not familiar
- 2:13Speaker 3: with it, Well, it's a ride that takes.
- 2:16Speaker 4: You through a make-believe jungle, you know.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it goes through different jungles of the world, Africa,
- 2:24Speaker 3: Southeast Asia.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 2:27Speaker 3: All right, but I'm just letting my audience know. And
- 2:30Speaker 3: you take this jungle boat.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Yes, that's right.
- 2:34Speaker 3: And so the attendants on the jungle ride, the guys
- 2:37Speaker 3: who pretend like they're riverboat captains, have a certain thing
- 2:41Speaker 3: that they say that you found offensive.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Let me, if you could not talk, let me talk because.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Forgive me, sir. I was just trying to give people
- 2:54Speaker 3: a little background.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Let me explain because I don't know that you're going
- 2:59Speaker 4: to explain. Some of the things this attendant said, this
- 3:02Speaker 4: person that you said looks like a captain, are offensive.
- 3:06Speaker 4: He said at one point.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Can you give us an example?
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:09Speaker 4: He said to raise your hand if this is your
- 3:11Speaker 4: first time on the cruise, you know. So we raised
- 3:14Speaker 4: our hand, and this man said, Disney policy is you
- 3:18Speaker 4: are the first to go overboard, you know.
- 3:22Speaker 3: You know that this is intended as humor, right? It's
- 3:24Speaker 3: a script?
- 3:24Speaker 4: No, but please let me finish speaking before you interrupt me.
- 3:30Speaker 4: The problem is that while you may see these comments
- 3:32Speaker 4: as benign, you might see these comments as humorous, that
- 3:36Speaker 4: you are aware of the prejudice against humor. Against you
- 3:39Speaker 4: you see these comments come off very threatening to people
- 3:42Speaker 4: who are of Arab descent People are well, you know.
- 3:46Speaker 3: You don't think you're really gonna get tossed overboard, do you?
- 3:50Speaker 4: Know that that may not be it. Maybe I don't
- 3:52Speaker 4: know but the comments are insensitive You know the other
- 3:54Speaker 4: thing we found that this particular right this man said
- 3:56Speaker 4: there Take a look at the dark wave. Goodbye because
- 4:00Speaker 4: it's the last time you're going to see them, you
- 4:02Speaker 4: know This is offensive to me and to people of
- 4:08Speaker 4: Arab descent coming from a part of the world where
- 4:10Speaker 4: people do disappear. In fact, people disappear even more than
- 4:14Speaker 4: they do here in America, you know.
- 4:16Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:17Speaker 3: As I gather this, Mr. Fadine, you are asking from
- 4:20Speaker 3: Disney the same sensitivity that they showed women when they
- 4:23Speaker 3: changed the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in that you
- 4:26Speaker 3: want this script somehow altered?
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yes, because this Pirates of the Caribbean was not as serious. Why? Why?
- 4:35Speaker 4: I'm sorry?
- 4:36Speaker 3: Why do you say it's not as serious?
- 4:38Speaker 4: You interrupt me so much. I'm losing my train of thought.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Sir, I'm sorry, but I have to move my show
- 4:44Speaker 3: along here. Why is Pirates of the Caribbean not as serious?
- 4:50Speaker 3: Because the women wanted a change because there was a
- 4:52Speaker 3: pirate chasing a woman around. It looked like it was rape.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Well, I'm not right. The woman is being chased by
- 4:58Speaker 4: a pirate.
- 4:59Speaker 5: She.
- 5:01Speaker 4: People thought she was going to be raped, but she's smiling,
- 5:04Speaker 4: she's laughing. It's not the same thing when you're being threatened.
- 5:10Speaker 4: It's not the same to look at a made-up person
- 5:14Speaker 4: who's being chased with a smile as opposed to being
- 5:17Speaker 4: threatened by a real person. You feel this is a threat? Yes,
- 5:25Speaker 4: but you must let me finish. This jungle ride, this
- 5:28Speaker 4: man makes a joke of a person of color who's
- 5:31Speaker 4: in danger for his life. We saw him scaling a
- 5:34Speaker 4: tree or something to get a rhinoceros, you know. And
- 5:37Speaker 4: he thinks he's funny, you know. I don't think it's
- 5:40Speaker 4: funny to see a person of color being tortured that way.
- 5:44Speaker 4: By having him almost get stabbed by this rhinoceros, this
- 5:47Speaker 4: kind of thing, you know.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And so while it may be a joke.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Well, yes, while it may be the joke, you know,
- 5:53Speaker 4: it's not a funny joke to people of Arab descent.
- 5:56Speaker 4: who don't find, already we feel this prejudice in your country,
- 6:00Speaker 4: and to go to Disneyland, which is supposedly a place
- 6:03Speaker 4: where it, you know, there is not, this threat to
- 6:07Speaker 4: be threatened like this is unacceptable, and we demand that
- 6:12Speaker 4: there be some changes made.
- 6:13Speaker 3: All right, with me is Raj Faneen, United Arab Brotherhood Foundation,
- 6:17Speaker 3: on the jungle ride at Disneyland being insensitive to Arabs,
- 6:22Speaker 3: people of color, Our number is 1-800-449-8686. 1-800-449-8686. Were you
- 6:30Speaker 3: not aware of this ride until you went on it?
- 6:33Speaker 4: No. As I said, I avoided going to this place.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Not Disneyland. It's not, you know, not my... You know,
- 6:41Speaker 4: I don't go there. But because of this propaganda my
- 6:43Speaker 4: child said I want to go. And he said, okay,
- 6:46Speaker 4: you know, I'll take you to Disneyland. But to go
- 6:49Speaker 4: into a place that is supposedly... family place. And to
- 6:55Speaker 4: witness this kind of thing is, for me, very disturbing.
- 7:00Speaker 4: You know, they had.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Tell me about the skulls.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yes, there was a boat that had skulls in the boat.
- 7:12Speaker 4: And this joke was, it looks like these people are
- 7:15Speaker 4: trying to get ahead, you know.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Well, you understand, just please let me interrupt you this far.
- 7:21Speaker 4: But, Mr. Henry, when you interrupt me, I lose my
- 7:24Speaker 4: turn of thought. I'm trying to say to you.
- 7:26Speaker 3: But let me interrupt you this far. I just want
- 7:28Speaker 3: to be clear. You know that these guys are joking.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Yes, I know it's a joke, yes. But I also
- 7:34Speaker 4: know it's joking when you say, you know, did you
- 7:38Speaker 4: hear that Hitler killed himself? No, I didn't. Why? Because
- 7:42Speaker 4: he got the gas bill. You know, this is an
- 7:44Speaker 4: insensitive joke.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 7:47Speaker 4: It's not funny to anyone.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I agree with that.
- 7:52Speaker 4: So why would you allow a joke like that, you know,
- 7:54Speaker 4: to make fun of Arabs, but you can't allow Jew jokes,
- 7:58Speaker 4: you know?
- 8:00Speaker 3: Well, first of all, the word Jew, it's Jewish people.
- 8:03Speaker 3: We don't call them Jews. Secondly, you're right. I want
- 8:09Speaker 3: to get more information from you as to why the
- 8:11Speaker 3: Jungle Cruise ride specifically... is offensive.
- 8:15Speaker 4: But you see, if you would forgive me if you
- 8:18Speaker 4: would shut your mouth and let me finish what I'm saying,
- 8:20Speaker 4: you know.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Sir, I'm listening to what you're saying.
- 8:23Speaker 4: But you're interrupting. I'm saying to you that the Disneyland ride,
- 8:26Speaker 4: the jungle ride with these men dressed as these riverboat captain,
- 8:33Speaker 4: and he says, we're going to throw you in. You know,
- 8:36Speaker 4: we're going to wave goodbye. You'll never come back. You know,
- 8:38Speaker 4: this is a very frightening thing to Arab people. Very frightening.
- 8:44Speaker 4: And my son said to me, Daddy, and it makes
- 8:48Speaker 4: me almost want to cry to think of it. He
- 8:49Speaker 4: said to me, Daddy, are we going to be okay?
- 8:52Speaker 4: And I said, yes. And I had to hold my
- 8:54Speaker 4: son through this ride.
- 8:56Speaker 3: All right, 1-800-449-8686. Here is George. George, go ahead.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Yes, how are you doing?
- 9:02Speaker 3: Fine, sir.
- 9:03Speaker 6: I was born in Lebanon. I was raised there. I
- 9:06Speaker 6: lived there for 16 years. And I don't agree with
- 9:09Speaker 6: the caller saying that he was threatened by Disneyland comments.
- 9:11Speaker 6: I mean, I don't understand why he would be threatened.
- 9:14Speaker 6: It's something that they say.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Have you been to this ride, sir?
- 9:19Speaker 6: No, sir, I have not been on that ride, but...
- 9:22Speaker 6: Just from listening to him, it just sounds to me
- 9:24Speaker 6: like he's just, I don't know, he's just, it doesn't
- 9:27Speaker 6: make any sense to me why.
- 9:28Speaker 4: He feels that. Well, but if you've not been to
- 9:30Speaker 4: this ride, I don't know how you can make this
- 9:32Speaker 4: comment that.
- 9:33Speaker 7: Well, I can make it off your comments, sir.
- 9:34Speaker 6: I mean, it's obviously he's saying, like, you'll never see
- 9:37Speaker 6: the land again.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Ooh, you know, it's a Disney land. Oh, no, yes,
- 9:40Speaker 4: I know. I know this is a joke. I know,
- 9:41Speaker 4: but it is a bad, what the....
- 9:46Speaker 3: Bad taste?
- 9:47Speaker 4: Yes, it's a bad taste joke, you know, to make
- 9:49Speaker 4: to Arab people.
- 9:50Speaker 6: I mean, you can't just say that Arabs wanted this
- 9:52Speaker 6: to change. No, you do not represent the Arab community
- 9:56Speaker 6: by saying that.
- 9:56Speaker 4: No, we represent the United Arab Brotherhood Foundation.
- 9:59Speaker 7: Well, I don't think you represent all of them. Where
- 10:01Speaker 7: are you.
- 10:01Speaker 4: From, Michigan? I'm from California.
- 10:04Speaker 6: Well, I don't think you represent everybody.
- 10:06Speaker 7: I mean, you know.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Well, we have some 200 people. We are demanding that
- 10:11Speaker 4: these changes be made. You see, women can say the
- 10:15Speaker 4: Pirate of the Caribbean ride must be changed, but Arab people... No,
- 10:19Speaker 4: we can't say it because we're scum, you know.
- 10:21Speaker 7: No, you're not.
- 10:23Speaker 6: Nobody said you were scum. That's the kind of thing
- 10:28Speaker 6: that gives us a bad name in this country. It's
- 10:32Speaker 6: people like you whining about things like that and saying
- 10:34Speaker 6: nobody said you were scum.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Disney thinks we're scum.
- 10:37Speaker 6: Who thinks you're a scum?
- 10:40Speaker 4: The Disney organization to put me on this ride, to
- 10:42Speaker 4: show me this man, a man of color, being tortured
- 10:45Speaker 4: by a rhinoceros and this kind of thing.
- 10:48Speaker 7: You're not even a man of color. What are you
- 10:50Speaker 7: talking about?
- 10:51Speaker 4: We are.
- 10:51Speaker 6: These people are considered white.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Look it up. Yes, yes, it's true. But still, in America,
- 10:57Speaker 4: people who are, you know, of color are non-white people,
- 11:01Speaker 4: you know. Look, all I'm saying to you, is that
- 11:05Speaker 4: this Disney ride represents a reminder of the prejudice against
- 11:11Speaker 4: other people.
- 11:12Speaker 6: What prejudice? You live in Saudi Arabia. There's no war there.
- 11:15Speaker 6: There's no prejudice there.
- 11:15Speaker 7: What prejudice are you talking about?
- 11:17Speaker 4: Because of this man who is tortured there.
- 11:19Speaker 7: Now, hold on.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Let me explain. On the part of the ride, there's
- 11:22Speaker 3: a man climbing a tree, and there's a rhinoceros trying
- 11:26Speaker 3: to get at him with his horn, and the joke is,
- 11:27Speaker 3: looks like he's going to get it in the end, right?
- 11:30Speaker 4: Yes, he's a man of color, and he's a man
- 11:32Speaker 4: that's being tortured. But for you, this is funny. To
- 11:35Speaker 4: a white man, this is funny. To me, it's not funny,
- 11:37Speaker 4: you know.
- 11:37Speaker 6: Okay, well, to you, it's not funny. That's fine. But
- 11:39Speaker 6: don't say it's not funny because you're Arabic.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Let me ask George. George, you're Arab-American. Does that sound
- 11:45Speaker 3: funny to you?
- 11:46Speaker 4: Well, yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Well, a guy's got to get a horn in the
- 11:48Speaker 3: rear end from a rhinoceros.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:52Speaker 4: George has been brainwashed by the culture he's lived in,
- 11:55Speaker 4: you know. Are you Arab? What's that? Did you say
- 12:01Speaker 4: you're Arab?
- 12:02Speaker 6: Yes, I was born in Lebanon. I lived 16 years
- 12:05Speaker 6: in a war-torn country. I mean, you can't tell me
- 12:07Speaker 6: to strand you. You can't tell me that.
- 12:10Speaker 4: If you go to Disneyland, I can assure you. Oh,
- 12:14Speaker 4: my God.
- 12:15Speaker 3: All right, look, George, thank you.
- 12:16Speaker 4: 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:17Speaker 3: We'll be back with Mr. Raj Fanin with the UABF.
- 12:21Speaker 3: And the Disneyland jungle ride is a threatening ride to Arabs.
- 12:28Speaker 3: The guys who play the part of the jungle boat
- 12:29Speaker 3: captain use lines like you're going to get thrown overboard.
- 12:33Speaker 3: And they show, you know, natives almost getting it in
- 12:35Speaker 3: the rear end with a rhinoceros horn and so on
- 12:37Speaker 3: and so forth, which he finds patently offensive to Arabs.
- 12:41Speaker 5: 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:41Speaker 3: The Phil Hendry Show.
- 12:42Speaker 4: 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:42Speaker 3: The world famous Phil Hendry Show.
- 12:50Speaker 2: The Phil Henry Show is back! 1-800-449-8686.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Raj Phaneen joins us from the United Arab Brotherhood Foundation
- 12:59Speaker 3: on the Disneyland Jungle Ride, which they feel is insensitive
- 13:03Speaker 3: to Arabs, Arab Americans. The ride has a, if you've
- 13:06Speaker 3: never been on the ride, it's a jungle ride that
- 13:08Speaker 3: goes through a faux jungle environment where the captain of
- 13:12Speaker 3: the boat, one of the Disney employees, has a scripted
- 13:16Speaker 3: joke sheet, but really it's just a lot of jokes
- 13:18Speaker 3: about being thrown overboard, and it If you... Mr. Fadina,
- 13:21Speaker 3: I've been going to Disneyland since I was a little kid,
- 13:23Speaker 3: and that script has probably not changed more than two
- 13:26Speaker 3: words since I was ten years old. I mean, it's
- 13:27Speaker 3: the same.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Well, first of all, Mr. Fadina, you have a habit
- 13:32Speaker 4: of telling people what I think. I'm not... You know,
- 13:35Speaker 4: I don't tell people what you think, you know.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Well, have I not articulated what your point of view is?
- 13:40Speaker 4: First of all, we are looking to change the jungle
- 13:45Speaker 4: ride so that it's going to be fun for everyone.
- 13:47Speaker 4: It's not going to be changed radically, you know... We
- 13:51Speaker 4: don't want Arabs or black people to be mocked.
- 13:57Speaker 3: All right, but to that end, sir.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Excuse me, if you'll let me finish my point, you know.
- 14:02Speaker 3: No, I got it, sir. I have to move on.
- 14:04Speaker 3: To that end, you said that the black man or
- 14:07Speaker 3: the black character that is being chased up the tree
- 14:09Speaker 3: by the rhinoceros should be a Mexican.
- 14:12Speaker 4: No, sir, I did not. No, sir, I did not.
- 14:14Speaker 3: You didn't say that to the press?
- 14:17Speaker 4: No, I said if you want to accurately reflect who
- 14:24Speaker 4: is carrying the bags for this group, it's not black
- 14:28Speaker 4: because black people have moved past. It's not Arab because
- 14:31Speaker 4: Arab people would never do it. Some people would say
- 14:34Speaker 4: it's now the new people who carry the bags is
- 14:37Speaker 4: now Mexican. I did not say that. I said it's
- 14:40Speaker 4: a compromise you could have a Mexican, but it's not
- 14:43Speaker 4: my opinion that that's... No, you.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Agreed with somebody who said, well, the modern bag carrier
- 14:48Speaker 3: is the Mexican, didn't you?
- 14:49Speaker 4: No, I did not agree. I said that would be
- 14:51Speaker 4: a good compromise to have a Mexican person. But again,
- 14:58Speaker 4: this lie is insensitive to Arabs because the threat of
- 15:02Speaker 4: being thrown overboard, I know it's a joke, it's not
- 15:05Speaker 4: funny to be thrown overboard, especially if in your country
- 15:08Speaker 4: where I come from, Egypt... They drown political dissidents by
- 15:15Speaker 4: throwing them under the wheels of a steam paddle boat.
- 15:21Speaker 3: All right, 1-800-449-8686. Here is Judy. Judy, you're on the
- 15:25Speaker 3: Phil Hendry Show with Mr. Raj Phaneen. Go ahead.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Thank you for having me. I'm a first-time caller. I
- 15:30Speaker 5: had to call because, frankly, this is just about the
- 15:34Speaker 5: most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Nothing that the...
- 15:40Speaker 5: caller describes is has any specific racial slurs towards arab
- 15:46Speaker 5: americans because the caller has.
- 15:49Speaker 4: I don't think i don't know if you know where
- 15:51Speaker 4: egypt is but it's definitely in africa you know and
- 15:55Speaker 4: the nile river is represented on this.
- 15:57Speaker 5: Right okay so all the people who just drowned in
- 16:00Speaker 5: louisiana should they be offended by it too because of
- 16:04Speaker 5: a fear of water.
- 16:05Speaker 4: No ma'am it's it's not the junk louisiana i don't
- 16:08Speaker 4: i don't see the connection I'm sorry?
- 16:10Speaker 5: The connection is that those people would have a right
- 16:13Speaker 5: to have a fear of water. You say you have
- 16:15Speaker 5: a fear of water.
- 16:16Speaker 4: So that they should remove? They're dead, so they don't
- 16:19Speaker 4: have a fear of anything now.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Okay, well, their families would.
- 16:23Speaker 2: No, they wouldn't.
- 16:24Speaker 4: They love their boats down there.
- 16:26Speaker 5: You're going out of your way to look for things.
- 16:32Speaker 5: that are offensive when, in fact, they don't.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Well, I offered to compromise. First of all, people in
- 16:37Speaker 4: Louisiana are not going to be afraid of boats when
- 16:40Speaker 4: the boats save their life.
- 16:41Speaker 7: Jesus.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Are you kidding me?
- 16:43Speaker 3: All right, okay, now hold on.
- 16:44Speaker 5: You're twisting the comparison.
- 16:47Speaker 4: No, the lady said that she not, Mr. Andrews.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Let's move on here. I think what the lady, please, Mr.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Andrews, don't tell me what to say. Sir, it's my show.
- 16:56Speaker 3: So I have to move this on. Now, the lady
- 16:58Speaker 3: is saying that you are going out of your way
- 17:00Speaker 3: to make an extreme comparison.
- 17:02Speaker 4: If I'm going out of my way to make an
- 17:03Speaker 4: extreme comparison, why did my son cry?
- 17:06Speaker 5: Well, I took my daughter on that ride. I took
- 17:11Speaker 5: my daughter when she was born.
- 17:12Speaker 4: He said he would throw my son overboard.
- 17:14Speaker 5: My daughter is four years old. She has never lived
- 17:16Speaker 5: in a country where she has a fear of being
- 17:18Speaker 5: thrown overboard, and she was a little bit afraid on
- 17:21Speaker 5: that ride.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Well, then you can imagine. Guess what?
- 17:23Speaker 7: You can imagine.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I didn't take it.
- 17:25Speaker 5: I did not take it personally. I didn't ask them
- 17:27Speaker 5: to change their policy, and I didn't go out of
- 17:31Speaker 5: my way to take offense at them because it's not offensive.
- 17:35Speaker 4: You let your child be traumatized. That's your business. But
- 17:37Speaker 4: for me, I'm going to fight back. I fight back
- 17:40Speaker 4: against it. Anyone who hurts my child.
- 17:43Speaker 5: Do you know what a simple solution would be?
- 17:45Speaker 4: Yes, ma'am.
- 17:46Speaker 5: To not go back on the ride again. If your
- 17:50Speaker 5: child was afraid of.
- 17:51Speaker 4: The entire jungle experience, do you know... Adventureland. Yes, the
- 17:56Speaker 4: entire Adventureland experience is racist from the standpoint that people
- 18:02Speaker 4: walk around looking like they're wild animals, you know.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Well, Adventureland, I don't know what you're saying. They've got
- 18:10Speaker 3: a trading post, they've got a... Tom Sawyer's, I don't
- 18:13Speaker 3: know what they've got there. Exactly.
- 18:15Speaker 4: You don't know what you're talking about. And when's the
- 18:17Speaker 4: last time you were at Disneyland, ma'am?
- 18:20Speaker 5: Four years ago.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Okay. See, you know, it's changed a lot.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Well, how's it changed?
- 18:25Speaker 5: I went on the same ride that you're talking about,
- 18:28Speaker 5: and they said the same thing. And my daughter said,
- 18:30Speaker 5: is it okay? And I said, yes, it's fine.
- 18:32Speaker 4: And she ended up driving the boat and having a
- 18:35Speaker 4: great time. Did they say when the black man was
- 18:37Speaker 4: being chased by the rhinoceros, did they say, look at
- 18:39Speaker 4: the color going up the tree? Did they say that?
- 18:41Speaker 5: No, because they didn't say look at the colored.
- 18:42Speaker 3: They didn't say look at the colored.
- 18:44Speaker 8: They did not say look at the colored.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Not when you were on it, no. Not when you
- 18:48Speaker 4: were on the right, no.
- 18:49Speaker 7: Not when you were on the right, either.
- 18:50Speaker 4: How do you know, ma'am?
- 18:52Speaker 5: Because they don't say colored in Disneyland.
- 18:55Speaker 4: How do you know that, ma'am?
- 18:56Speaker 2: Mr.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Fanin, Mr. Fanin, you can't say because I can't prove
- 19:02Speaker 3: what you're saying is wrong that it's right. That is
- 19:04Speaker 3: not the way to prove a point.
- 19:08Speaker 4: They said something to the effect of look at the darky. Oh,
- 19:12Speaker 4: they did not. Ma'am, I will tell you.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Sir, if you're going to try to make your point
- 19:16Speaker 3: by making things up.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I find this interesting that people think Disneyland, they are
- 19:22Speaker 4: not liars. They don't lie. You all think they tell
- 19:25Speaker 4: the truth at Disneyland. Why?
- 19:27Speaker 5: Because you all.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Yes, ma'am.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Are you going to sue about this? Is that what's
- 19:32Speaker 5: all in the works here?
- 19:34Speaker 4: I would ask you. You're a woman. Do you want
- 19:35Speaker 4: to see a woman being raped, a pirate of the Caribbean?
- 19:38Speaker 6: That is completely different.
- 19:40Speaker 4: I made my point. Thank you. I made my point.
- 19:42Speaker 4: That is a completely different story. Thank you. I made
- 19:44Speaker 4: my point.
- 19:45Speaker 3: No, sir, I don't.
- 19:46Speaker 4: No, you didn't. No, I scored.
- 19:47Speaker 5: No, I'm sorry.
- 19:47Speaker 4: No, yes, I did.
- 19:48Speaker 8: All right.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Look, I got a break.
- 19:50Speaker 4: If your child was.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Afraid of money, would you demand that they take Mickey's
- 19:54Speaker 5: ears off?
- 19:56Speaker 4: You know, this is ridiculous.
- 19:58Speaker 3: All right, Judy, thank you very much.
- 20:00Speaker 4: 1-800-449-8686.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Stanery, if I could ask you, when I make a
- 20:07Speaker 3: good point not to keep talking.
- 20:09Speaker 4: because then people don't know that I just scored big time.
- 20:12Speaker 4: That woman said, I said to her about the rape
- 20:15Speaker 4: at the Pirate, and she said, oh, you know, I
- 20:17Speaker 4: don't want to. I said, yeah, yeah, thank you. How
- 20:19Speaker 4: do you like me now? That's what I said.
- 20:21Speaker 3: All right, 1-800-449-8686, Phil Hendry Show.
- 20:24Speaker 7: 1-800-449-8686.
- 20:25Speaker 2: The Phil Hendry Show is back.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Well, we can get into that later. Mr. Raj Phaneen
- 20:30Speaker 3: with me from the UABF. on the uh... jungle ride
- 20:34Speaker 3: at disneyland you also made some comments regarding uh... the
- 20:37Speaker 3: mission to the moon ride on that looks let's just
- 20:39Speaker 3: hold on for a minute this is all about what
- 20:42Speaker 3: you call anti arab sentiment or an anti arab bent
- 20:46Speaker 3: to some of these rides uh.
- 20:48Speaker 4: well uh... again understand that i appreciate uh... that this
- 20:51Speaker 4: is your program you know but uh... you you don't uh...
- 20:54Speaker 4: let me finish what i'm saying uh.
- 20:56Speaker 3: sir with all due respect you have a very methodical
- 20:59Speaker 3: way of speaking which i respect but it's not fast
- 21:01Speaker 3: enough i got I got to go. You know, I
- 21:04Speaker 3: got to get going here. I got calls to get to.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Let me say this. Disneyland has this mission to the moon.
- 21:12Speaker 4: And for me, coming from the most ancient culture in
- 21:16Speaker 4: the world, to insult me, you know, do they think
- 21:20Speaker 4: I'm stupid? Oh, yeah, sure. That's what it's like to
- 21:23Speaker 4: go to the moon. You're right. You know, so I
- 21:25Speaker 4: said to my son, you know, they must think Arabs
- 21:28Speaker 4: are so stupid because.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Why do you feel singled out because you're an Arab?
- 21:32Speaker 3: They think you're stupid.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Because I come from the most ancient culture in the world.
- 21:37Speaker 4: The civilization started at the Tigris and the Euphrates River,
- 21:41Speaker 4: you know. And so for you to say to me, hey,
- 21:44Speaker 4: why don't you go to the mission to the moon? Oh, okay. Jesus.
- 21:49Speaker 4: It's insulting, you know.
- 21:52Speaker 3: And it's... What's insulting about it?
- 21:55Speaker 4: Like that's going to be like a moon ride, you know.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Like.
- 21:59Speaker 4: It didn't even feel like it. Plus, the jungle ride
- 22:02Speaker 4: is more to the point that they said the darkie
- 22:08Speaker 4: or something like that, you know.
- 22:10Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, no. I do not believe
- 22:11Speaker 3: that anybody at Disneyland said, look at that darkie getting
- 22:14Speaker 3: it from the rhinoceros. You're the one who said they
- 22:16Speaker 3: ought to have a Mexican.
- 22:18Speaker 4: I said it would be a compromise is all I said.
- 22:22Speaker 3: All right, 1-800-449-8686.
- 22:23Speaker 4: You know, you're misconstruing what I'm saying, sir.
- 22:28Speaker 3: All right, hold on. 1-800-449-8686. Mark, go ahead.
- 22:31Speaker 7: Hello?
- 22:32Speaker 3: Yes, sir, go ahead.
- 22:33Speaker 7: Hello? Yes, I'd like to speak to your speaker. I'm
- 22:36Speaker 7: an Arab American.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
- 22:39Speaker 7: Yeah, I just want to let your audience know that
- 22:42Speaker 7: this guy is only representing himself. He's not representing any
- 22:45Speaker 7: Arab Americans.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Well, we have some 200 members of the UAE.
- 22:49Speaker 7: I don't care what you have, sir. You make us
- 22:51Speaker 7: look really bad.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Why am I making you look bad?
- 22:54Speaker 7: You should never go out to any place that's a
- 22:57Speaker 7: fun place. You're such an uptight person with an unopened mind.
- 23:01Speaker 7: You think everyone's against you. You should just black yourself out.
- 23:03Speaker 7: Inside the house, I never go out anyplace. Because you're
- 23:07Speaker 7: going to be insulted 24 hours a day.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Sir, you are Americanized, you know, you're uptight, all these words.
- 23:12Speaker 4: You don't remember the ancient culture that you come from.
- 23:16Speaker 4: And if you go to.
- 23:18Speaker 7: Why don't you go back to your ancient culture, then
- 23:20Speaker 7: go back to Egypt and live over there if it's
- 23:22Speaker 7: so offensive for you to live here in the United States?
- 23:24Speaker 4: It's not offensive. It's when I go to Disneyland and
- 23:26Speaker 4: they say to you, hey, Arab man, why don't you go?
- 23:29Speaker 7: You should lock yourself outside of a house, inside of
- 23:32Speaker 7: a room, and never go out, leave your house, or
- 23:34Speaker 7: leave your door.
- 23:35Speaker 4: But I have something to say. Civil rights law, 1965,
- 23:37Speaker 4: says if you do business with the public, you should
- 23:41Speaker 4: do it in a way that is non-racial and does
- 23:44Speaker 4: not offend the CIA.
- 23:46Speaker 7: I go to Disneyland three times a week. We are
- 23:49Speaker 7: members over there. I take my two little girls and average,
- 23:52Speaker 7: I'm sorry, three times a month we average going to Disneyland.
- 23:55Speaker 7: I don't see any offensive thing, anything about Disneyland. You're
- 23:58Speaker 7: supposed to go over there and enjoy yourself, have a
- 24:00Speaker 7: good time, and go home. But you're going over there,
- 24:03Speaker 7: you know, picking up things. Maybe you're doing this trying
- 24:06Speaker 7: to make money on a lawsuit or something. But you're
- 24:09Speaker 7: absolutely wrong. No, first of all... You keep representing Arabs.
- 24:15Speaker 7: You are not representing Arabs.
- 24:16Speaker 4: The Arab people come from an ancient culture. And for
- 24:19Speaker 4: you to be Arab man to go and say, hey,
- 24:22Speaker 4: Arab man, why don't you go take a moon ride? Yeah, okay.
- 24:27Speaker 4: You don't feel offended for yourself?
- 24:30Speaker 7: You're lucky that you're even on the radio. This guy
- 24:32Speaker 7: would even let an idiot like you sit on the radio.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I have not called you a name. I have not
- 24:38Speaker 4: characterized you personally at all. Wait a minute.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I want to jump in.
- 24:42Speaker 4: But see, Mr. Taylor, you interrupt when I'm trying to
- 24:46Speaker 4: make a point, you know?
- 24:47Speaker 7: Your points are so full, you know, you're just unbelievable
- 24:51Speaker 7: that this guy would even give you any income at all.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Wait a minute, I want to find out what you
- 24:54Speaker 3: find offensive about the mission to the moon ride.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Everybody knows from Apollo 11, no one has to go
- 25:05Speaker 4: on moon ride. Jesus, eight. You know what.
- 25:10Speaker 3: These rides are for? You know, it's unbelievable. First of all, sir,
- 25:15Speaker 3: you wouldn't know about Apollo 11 were it not Americans
- 25:18Speaker 3: that went up there.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Oh, here you go. Now you're going to tell me
- 25:20Speaker 4: how great you are?
- 25:21Speaker 3: No, I'm not telling you anything. You're telling me about
- 25:23Speaker 3: America being insensitive. Apollo 11, the mission to the moon,
- 25:27Speaker 3: that ride is supposed to be a retro ride. You
- 25:29Speaker 3: know what I mean by retro? It means it embodies
- 25:32Speaker 3: an experience we thought the moon would be about. The
- 25:35Speaker 3: whole Tomorrowland theme is about that.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Listen to the double talk. And you're buying this, Mark?
- 25:42Speaker 7: Yes, I'm buying that, sir. I go over there to
- 25:45Speaker 7: have a good time. You know, I'm probably never going
- 25:47Speaker 7: to be able to go up to the moon. This
- 25:49Speaker 7: is probably the closest thing that I can imagine that
- 25:51Speaker 7: how it would feel going up to the moon. This
- 25:53Speaker 7: is the whole idea is to go there and be
- 25:55Speaker 7: a kid again and imagine things.
- 25:57Speaker 3: That's what it is. It's a kid's.
- 25:58Speaker 7: You know, I go over there and I'm not 44 again,
- 26:03Speaker 7: but you.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Go over there.
- 26:05Speaker 7: You're like, you know, you probably have been in a
- 26:08Speaker 7: cave all your life. I just, you know, I can't
- 26:10Speaker 7: believe the things that you're saying.
- 26:11Speaker 4: I'm not in a cave. I don't want my children
- 26:14Speaker 4: to be insulted. I don't want my children to be threatened.
- 26:16Speaker 7: Nobody's insulting your children. The only one that's insulting your
- 26:18Speaker 7: children is yourself. I feel sorry for your children that
- 26:22Speaker 7: you are their father.
- 26:23Speaker 4: They threaten my children, sir. They threaten my children.
- 26:26Speaker 3: How are they threatening your kid when they say the
- 26:28Speaker 3: first Disney policy you get thrown overboard?
- 26:31Speaker 4: To an Arab, you might as well tell him. You're
- 26:34Speaker 4: going to be raped.
- 26:35Speaker 7: Why do you keep saying that?
- 26:36Speaker 4: Because you think all of Disneyland's.
- 26:38Speaker 7: Here towards saying just bad things about air out there,
- 26:41Speaker 7: bad things.
- 26:41Speaker 4: No, I'm, look at, my children, first of all, my
- 26:48Speaker 4: children can't swim, okay? And to tell them to, to
- 26:52Speaker 4: say to them... Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Because Disneyland says they're going to throw your kid overboard
- 26:56Speaker 3: doesn't mean they're going to throw your kid overboard.
- 26:58Speaker 4: But they can't swim.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Well, maybe you want to teach them how to swim.
- 27:03Speaker 4: You know, you can laugh at me now, Mr. Hendry,
- 27:05Speaker 4: but remember you're laughing at an Arab man.
- 27:09Speaker 7: This is not laughing. He's laughing at you as a
- 27:11Speaker 7: person that you're such an idiot. He's not laughing as
- 27:15Speaker 7: an Arab man or any kind of man.
- 27:19Speaker 4: Are you getting out of your car or not? Excuse me?
- 27:22Speaker 4: I hear your door is open.
- 27:24Speaker 7: I'm getting out of my car because I, you know.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Oh, come on, man. Come on.
- 27:30Speaker 4: I can't believe.
- 27:31Speaker 7: This guy would waste his time.
- 27:32Speaker 4: If the guy's going, you're leaving. If you're staying, you're staying.
- 27:35Speaker 4: If you're going, you're going. I'm in the background. I'm
- 27:37Speaker 4: hearing ding, ding, ding.
- 27:39Speaker 7: You know, I just hate that you keep saying that
- 27:42Speaker 7: you're representing Arabs.
- 27:44Speaker 4: I'm trying to say that for Arab children, who many
- 27:48Speaker 4: of them can't swim, to be told they're going to
- 27:50Speaker 4: be thrown overboard.
- 27:50Speaker 7: Not only Arab kids can't swim, sir. You go to
- 27:53Speaker 7: the East Coast, half of the kids there can't swim.
- 27:55Speaker 7: You go to California....
- 27:58Speaker 4: They know, but you see, they know that that threatens
- 28:00Speaker 4: the black man. When you say you're going to be
- 28:01Speaker 4: thrown overboard, no black man has a good time on
- 28:03Speaker 4: that ride.
- 28:04Speaker 7: What are you talking about, no black man or no air?
- 28:07Speaker 7: You're such a goddamn ignorant guy, you're unbelievable.
- 28:09Speaker 4: No, I'm saying.
- 28:10Speaker 3: That's ridiculous.
- 28:12Speaker 7: You're such a ridiculous person, you're unbelievable.
- 28:15Speaker 4: All right, Mark, I've got to run. I've got to
- 28:17Speaker 4: take a break.
- 28:17Speaker 7: Okay, thank you very much for having me.
- 28:20Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Mark, I've got to run.
- 28:21Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 28:24Speaker 3: To say that Disney is now insulting black people because
- 28:26Speaker 3: they know most of them can't swim and they say
- 28:28Speaker 3: they're going to get thrown overboard?
- 28:29Speaker 4: No, no, I did not say this.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Yes, you did.
- 28:32Speaker 4: No, I said that the perception is there. And if
- 28:35Speaker 4: they say you're going to get thrown overboard, people will
- 28:37Speaker 4: look at black people sympathetically and embarrass them.
- 28:42Speaker 3: So a black guy on a Jungle Cruise ride with
- 28:45Speaker 3: his family, if they say they're going to get thrown overboard,
- 28:47Speaker 3: then the other folks look sympathetically at the black people
- 28:50Speaker 3: and that embarrasses them?
- 28:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 28:55Speaker 3: What a jackass. 1-800, yes, sir?
- 28:58Speaker 4: You know, Mr. Henry, car bombs go off every day
- 29:02Speaker 4: in Baghdad. You're calling me a jackass?
- 29:04Speaker 3: Why don't you hold on? 1-800-449-8686, Phil Henry Show. 1-800-449-8686.
- 29:06Speaker 3: You know what we used to do with guys like you?
- 29:09Speaker 2: We'd leave your butt up with a flower in it.
- 29:11Speaker 4: The Phil Henry Show is back. 1-800-449-8686. He was an
- 29:13Speaker 4: important man to me and to a lot of Americans.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Chris Schenkel.
- 29:27Speaker 4: I don't know this man. I'm talking to you about
- 29:28Speaker 4: Disneyland and the racism that the Jungle Ride uh caught
- 29:33Speaker 4: my son in.
- 29:35Speaker 3: And sir i i know it's your time i just
- 29:38Speaker 3: mentioned you chris shankle in passing because he's a sportscaster
- 29:40Speaker 3: just passed.
- 29:41Speaker 4: On i don't care you know you you but i
- 29:45Speaker 4: have a little bit.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Of respect for me and for other americans who remember.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Him that's all okay what is his name.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Chris shankle.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Yes sir I shankle, shmankle, you know, I don't care,
- 30:00Speaker 4: you know.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Let the record show that I'm having respect for you,
- 30:05Speaker 3: even though you're having a great deal of disrespect for me.
- 30:09Speaker 4: What are you talking about? You talk about being a baby,
- 30:12Speaker 4: you know.
- 30:12Speaker 3: You're the guy that's afraid he's going to get thrown
- 30:15Speaker 3: overboard on the jungle ride, man. That's what I'm laughing about, huh?
- 30:19Speaker 4: You know, you can laugh, Mr.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Henry. No, no, I'm laughing now.
- 30:22Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Elaine, go ahead.
- 30:27Speaker 8: Yes, sir. In regards to the gentleman who, one, your
- 30:30Speaker 8: child cannot swim, as parents in America, we usually teach
- 30:34Speaker 8: our children to swim so that if they're walking by anything,
- 30:38Speaker 8: a pond, a puddle in the road or whatever, they
- 30:40Speaker 8: are not going to drown. Well, then how come people drown?
- 30:43Speaker 4: How come people drown in this country?
- 30:45Speaker 3: See?
- 30:46Speaker 8: Perhaps because we don't have more parents who teach them.
- 30:48Speaker 8: And are you here in the country for a specific purpose?
- 30:52Speaker 8: Are you here just to... To knock the culture.
- 30:55Speaker 4: No, I'm not here to knock the culture. I want
- 30:57Speaker 4: to enjoy this country, but everywhere I turn, there's some idiot,
- 31:01Speaker 4: you know.
- 31:03Speaker 8: You know, I was growing up thinking that the Arab
- 31:05Speaker 8: people had us all on flying carpet, when in reality,
- 31:09Speaker 8: I realize that may just be something of a fantasy
- 31:12Speaker 8: for amusement. I don't actually think that you fellows ride
- 31:15Speaker 8: around on carpets. I have one of your carpets, and
- 31:18Speaker 8: it doesn't do anything when I ask it to.
- 31:20Speaker 4: I've come to your country. Have you been to mine? No.
- 31:23Speaker 8: No, but my husband has worked there in bringing back
- 31:26Speaker 8: quite a bit of your culture in my home. I
- 31:28Speaker 8: have quite a bit of Arabic. The Arabic people do
- 31:31Speaker 8: not exactly have the best human rights towards women.
- 31:34Speaker 7: I am a woman.
- 31:35Speaker 8: I would not feel safe in your country according to
- 31:38Speaker 8: some of your customs.
- 31:39Speaker 4: I have not been to this particular ride.
- 31:42Speaker 8: Wait, you wanted everyone to finish.
- 31:43Speaker 4: Well, you say you have my... So you've got a
- 31:44Speaker 4: little plastic sphinx your husband bought at the airport.
- 31:47Speaker 8: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>
- 31:49Speaker 8: He doesn't do plastic. He believes in bringing home art
- 31:53Speaker 8: from overseas.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Well, I understand what you're saying. But do you know
- 31:58Speaker 4: who Chris Schenkel is? For instance, I want to give
- 32:00Speaker 4: you an example. Do you know who Chris Schenkel is?
- 32:02Speaker 7: No, sir.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I apologize.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Schenkel, Schmenkel, right? That's what you think?
- 32:07Speaker 3: No.
- 32:07Speaker 8: He is a sports.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Chris Schenkel, Elaine, Chris Schenkel, for those of us who
- 32:12Speaker 3: follow broadcasting, was one of the greats. Longtime broadcaster. A
- 32:16Speaker 3: lot of great sports. Have a little respect for my culture.
- 32:20Speaker 3: And for.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Look, can I ask the lady a question?
- 32:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:25Speaker 3: I wanted to.
- 32:26Speaker 4: No, I wanted to ask the lady.
- 32:27Speaker 3: All right, we lost the... Are you there, sir?
- 32:32Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Do you have little, like, mummy figurines?
- 32:40Speaker 8: No, I do not.
- 32:43Speaker 4: Well.
- 32:44Speaker 8: I have expensive pieces of art from the Saudi world.
- 32:48Speaker 3: You think that her husband is buying the stuff in
- 32:49Speaker 3: the airport?
- 32:51Speaker 8: Please don't insult me like that.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Ma'am, people say to me, I have art from Egypt,
- 32:55Speaker 4: and you go to their house, and they've got like
- 32:57Speaker 4: a globe, you know, a snow globe.
- 33:01Speaker 8: No, no, sir.
- 33:02Speaker 2: No, sir.
- 33:03Speaker 8: No, sir. He knows the real thing from the trinkets.
- 33:06Speaker 8: We do not sell our home souvenirs. You have beautiful
- 33:09Speaker 8: pieces of art. that are brought from over there, and
- 33:13Speaker 8: he works over there, and brings me a counterpoint.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Now, here's the big question. Did he bring them out legally?
- 33:18Speaker 3: Okay, what's that supposed to mean?
- 33:20Speaker 4: You know, there's a lot of antiquity being stolen from
- 33:23Speaker 4: my country.
- 33:24Speaker 2: No, no.
- 33:25Speaker 8: He has not worked in Egypt. He has worked quite
- 33:27Speaker 8: a bit extensively in the Arab world, and yes, everything
- 33:29Speaker 8: is brought out legally. And how does that tie into
- 33:34Speaker 8: whether you take your child?
- 33:35Speaker 3: Yeah, no kidding.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Disneyland.
- 33:36Speaker 3: What has this got to do with anything?
- 33:38Speaker 4: Because most people's impressions of my country and my culture,
- 33:41Speaker 4: they formed when they went to see the mummy with
- 33:44Speaker 4: Boris Karloff, you know. That's what, you know, come on.
- 33:47Speaker 8: That's what I'm saying, sir. If I were to believe
- 33:49Speaker 8: everything I saw on TV or that I read in
- 33:53Speaker 8: a book.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Well, you sound like an intelligent lady. Forgive me. But
- 33:56Speaker 4: you have to understand, I've been talking to nothing but imbeciles.
- 34:00Speaker 8: Well, sir, we have both intelligent and imbeciles in this
- 34:04Speaker 8: country and around the world. But my point is, sir...
- 34:08Speaker 8: I do not believe. I have a beautiful rug, Arabic
- 34:12Speaker 8: rug on my floor. I do not believe for a
- 34:15Speaker 8: moment that even though I have read all my life that,
- 34:25Speaker 8: you know, you guys fly on your little carpets. I
- 34:26Speaker 8: don't believe for a moment that my beautiful carpet is
- 34:29Speaker 8: going to get up and dance around the room. Disneyland
- 34:32Speaker 8: is a form of entertainment for children.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 34:36Speaker 8: If your children are not.
- 34:37Speaker 2: It's a good point, Elaine.
- 34:38Speaker 3: I've got to take a break, Elaine. Thank you very much.
- 34:40Speaker 4: I just saw this guy, Schenkel.
- 34:42Speaker 3: This guy, Schenkel?
- 34:43Speaker 4: Yeah. Did he wear a lot of turtlenecks? Yes. That's him.
- 34:47Speaker 3: All right, look at Elaine. Thank you.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Jesus.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Hey, watch it. Bust it on Chris Schenkel.
- 34:55Speaker 4: Well, look at the bad man. Yeah, uh-huh.
- 34:57Speaker 3: The bad man. I'll come through the freaking fiber optics
- 35:00Speaker 3: on you.
- 35:01Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Phil Hendry Show.
- 35:04Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Dr.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Ruth knows more tricks than a monkey on 100 yards
- 35:12Speaker 2: of grapevine. 1-800-449-8686. The Phil Hendry Show is back.
- 35:15Speaker 3: Another call here for Raj Fanin.
- 35:17Speaker 2: 1-800-449-8686.
- 35:17Speaker 3: I'm going to go here to Chris.
- 35:21Speaker 5: Hello, Chris.
- 35:21Speaker 3: You're on the Phil Hendry Show.
- 35:23Speaker 9: Yeah, I've got one comment I guess I'm wanting to
- 35:28Speaker 9: say here. You know, he represents 200... Arabs, I represent
- 35:33Speaker 9: millions of U.S. citizens, millions all across this world that
- 35:39Speaker 9: are Christians.
- 35:40Speaker 4: And the way that he uses the word.
- 35:42Speaker 7: Wait a minute, let me finish.
- 35:43Speaker 4: I didn't interrupt you. No, I didn't interrupt you.
- 35:45Speaker 7: Let me finish my point.
- 35:46Speaker 4: The caller gets to talk, okay? No, he interrupted me.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Let me make my point now.
- 35:49Speaker 7: I represent millions of Christians, and we don't like the
- 35:51Speaker 7: way you use the word Jesus.
- 35:52Speaker 3: In your answers, you said it four times.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Very disparaging. What did I say? You said it.
- 36:12Speaker 7: You said, somebody says something you don't like, you say, Jesus.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Yes, I'm praying.
- 36:16Speaker 7: That's not the way we use the word Jesus.
- 36:18Speaker 4: I am praying for Jesus to deliver me from the Indians.
- 36:21Speaker 7: In the same way that.
- 36:22Speaker 9: You use the word Jesus, you would find it very offensive.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 36:27Speaker 9: And I represent millions of Christians.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Doesn't bother me. Doesn't bother me.
- 36:31Speaker 9: And the problem that you have is that you want
- 36:34Speaker 9: to come.
- 36:34Speaker 4: To this country and get all of the rights.
- 36:36Speaker 7: And freedoms and things.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Grow up.
