- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, let's set out to the ramos Law hotline.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Car accident.
- 0:02Speaker 2: You need ramos Law medical doctor and attorney Ramoslaw dot com.
- 0:06Speaker 1: We're joined on the.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Best day of all days, to be joined by Jeff
- 0:09Speaker 2: Lagwell at ESPN dot com.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Leggy, how are we?
- 0:13Speaker 3: I'm great? Are you guys doing good?
- 0:15Speaker 1: All right?
- 0:15Speaker 2: So draft tonight, here's what we've heard. I've heard a
- 0:20Speaker 2: keebe to leave hint at a move possibly being made
- 0:24Speaker 2: for the Broncos during Draft night. I have heard Jay Glazer,
- 0:28Speaker 2: close friend of Sean Payton, talk about a big move
- 0:31Speaker 2: that's gonna happen tonight that he can't discuss.
- 0:34Speaker 1: What do you know about all that?
- 0:35Speaker 4: Leggy?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Oh, I mean I've heard the same rumblings. I've also
- 0:40Speaker 3: heard the general manager say publicly it was unlikely the
- 0:46Speaker 3: team would trade back into the first round because they
- 0:51Speaker 3: would have to give up so many picks. So connect
- 0:55Speaker 3: those dots, read those tea leaves, you know, ask around,
- 0:59Speaker 3: you know, does that mean an existing roster player in
- 1:04Speaker 3: a trade for instead of picks? So you know, I
- 1:08Speaker 3: don't know. I mean everybody this time of day on
- 1:12Speaker 3: Draft Day. This is because each team lost ten minutes,
- 1:16Speaker 3: two minutes rather it went from ten minutes to eight
- 1:19Speaker 3: for each pick. So a lot of the discussions people
- 1:24Speaker 3: would have on the clock some years are being had
- 1:27Speaker 3: now during the day, So a lot of this. You're
- 1:32Speaker 3: gonna hear a lot of this until tonight. You know.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I just if they do make a big move and
- 1:40Speaker 3: it's a player on the roster getting moved, then they've
- 1:45Speaker 3: done what a lot of teams do do, which is
- 1:48Speaker 3: say one thing and do another on draft Day.
- 1:52Speaker 1: So just to follow up on this, we just threw
- 1:54Speaker 1: this out there.
- 1:55Speaker 2: If Glazer is saying that there's a big move that's
- 1:58Speaker 2: going to be made tonight and you just can't say it,
- 2:01Speaker 2: is there a chance, Like does the NFL come in
- 2:03Speaker 2: and they're aware of a move that's going to be
- 2:05Speaker 2: made and they're like, hey, guys, this is all good.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Let's save it for the TV show tonight. Would they
- 2:11Speaker 1: ever know?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Okay, now there's none of that going on. Teams don't
- 2:15Speaker 3: worry about the televised drama. They they mostly don't want
- 2:20Speaker 3: other people getting involved to affect what may have already
- 2:24Speaker 3: been sort of agreed to verbally, like oh, we got
- 2:27Speaker 3: a better offer after it got out, so you know, sorry.
- 2:33Speaker 3: So some of It's that just people trying to keep
- 2:35Speaker 3: their own business their own business. And you know, frankly,
- 2:39Speaker 3: some rumors are planted. You know, I've had in my
- 2:43Speaker 3: career teams try to get me to report something so
- 2:47Speaker 3: a guy drops, or a guy moves, or somebody reacts.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I mean a lot of people in the league feel
- 2:54Speaker 3: like the Arizona Cardinals quote unquote interest in Jeremiah Love
- 3:00Speaker 3: is because they want somebody to come trade for that pick.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Who wants Jeremiah Love. So you know, you have to look.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I know information is king and people love the insider game,
- 3:14Speaker 3: but I'm telling you today, until it happens, you're gonna
- 3:18Speaker 3: hear every version. You know, A keep's been saying this
- 3:22Speaker 3: for a while. People keep asking me for a while.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I'll just tell you everyone i've asked, as you know,
- 3:31Speaker 3: effectively said something that's different from that. But that's that's
- 3:37Speaker 3: not surprising. You know. I report what I can confirm,
- 3:42Speaker 3: and I cannot confirm anything big happening. But I don't
- 3:47Speaker 3: dispute anybody saying those things just because I know how
- 3:51Speaker 3: this day goes.
- 3:52Speaker 5: All right, leggy like a fine huskin pino noir that's
- 3:56Speaker 5: finally uncorked. We can talk openly and honest about Legwell's
- 4:00Speaker 5: top one hundred which was revealed. Yeah, we no more guessing,
- 4:07Speaker 5: no more begging, none of that's tough. It's in front
- 4:10Speaker 5: of it.
- 4:11Speaker 4: We see it.
- 4:11Speaker 5: That's on ESPN dot com. I'm looking at it right now.
- 4:14Speaker 5: I don't get it doesn't happen anymore.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Whether I like it or not. It's all right.
- 4:19Speaker 5: So let's pour that first glass. Why is rvil Reese
- 4:22Speaker 5: Edge out of Ohio State? You're number one player on
- 4:25Speaker 5: the board because.
- 4:27Speaker 3: He's the best plat prospect in my mind, I've seen
- 4:30Speaker 3: very few like him over the years. I've had one team,
- 4:33Speaker 3: multiple teams actually tell me he's he's the best off
- 4:37Speaker 3: ball linebacker in the draft. And I've had other teams
- 4:40Speaker 3: tell me he's the best edge rusher in the draft.
- 4:45Speaker 3: And he will not be twenty one years old VIC
- 4:49Speaker 3: until August, and to do what he's to do, what
- 4:52Speaker 3: he has done as an eighteen year old, a nineteen
- 4:55Speaker 3: year old at the highest levels of college football. It's
- 5:00Speaker 3: he's a rare player. Nothing's guaranteed, but I will be
- 5:03Speaker 3: very stunned because of his approach, what he has physically,
- 5:08Speaker 3: how he plays, If he if he is not a
- 5:11Speaker 3: long term, just pro bowl level player in the nflard.
- 5:19Speaker 4: I no pun intended. I love Jeremiah Love, but I
- 5:22Speaker 4: know the VIC does obviously because of his his school.
- 5:25Speaker 4: That being said, it's been really rare in recent times
- 5:28Speaker 4: to see your running back go in the top five picks.
- 5:31Speaker 4: I mean, you get your say, quants it. It seems like
- 5:33Speaker 4: it has to be a really really special guy. I
- 5:36Speaker 4: love Jeremiah Love, but is he really a special type
- 5:41Speaker 4: of guy?
- 5:42Speaker 3: I think he is, and I think what separates him
- 5:45Speaker 3: from uh, it's just the combination of things when when
- 5:50Speaker 3: he runs pass routes, he's not a running back running
- 5:54Speaker 3: pass routes, He's a He's a receiver. He runs routes
- 5:59Speaker 3: like a receiver. He handles his body like a receiver,
- 6:04Speaker 3: his hands, you know, come to the ball like a receiver.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And oh yeah, he's the best running back on the
- 6:11Speaker 3: board too. So that's when I look at high value prospects.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I looked at, you know, the broad range of skills.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I mean, look, I put it in the blurb to
- 6:24Speaker 3: the top one hundred. He ran the same forty times
- 6:26Speaker 3: as Jamiir Gibbs, and he's thirteen pounds heavier than Gibbs
- 6:31Speaker 3: was at the combine, and he led the nation and
- 6:36Speaker 3: forced missed tackles last season. You put all that together,
- 6:41Speaker 3: I think it's I think he and Caleb Downs are
- 6:44Speaker 3: the overthinking players of this draft. Don't overthink it. They're
- 6:48Speaker 3: really good players. Take him as high as you want
- 6:52Speaker 3: and tell the analytics guys shut up.
- 6:55Speaker 2: No.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Occasionally there are outliers, and you know, I think I
- 7:01Speaker 3: get the analytics of the running back position. But Jeremiah
- 7:04Speaker 3: Love is if you value a receiver at number two,
- 7:09Speaker 3: you should value Jeremiah Love at number two because not
- 7:13Speaker 3: only is the best back, he will be a high volume,
- 7:17Speaker 3: high impact receiver in the passing game.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Don't forget the most important part. He's a Notre Dame man.
- 7:24Speaker 3: That's I put that pretty far down the list because
- 7:26Speaker 3: I know some Notre Dame men.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so just a quick follow up on that. Ignore
- 7:30Speaker 2: what they've done in the NFL so far. Just go
- 7:32Speaker 2: off your draft profile, LEGGI, if you can, if you
- 7:34Speaker 2: can think back to this, if you had to power
- 7:36Speaker 2: rank Jamier Gibbs, b Jeon Robinson and Jeremiah Love as.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Jeremiah Love one one. Really yeah, no, had I could
- 7:44Speaker 3: tell you he had a higher grade than than both
- 7:46Speaker 3: Gibbs and b Jeon Robinson. Now, Bjeon was close. Bjeon
- 7:51Speaker 3: was very close, But I love is one of my
- 7:54Speaker 3: highest graded running backs in a very long time.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Okay, So, speaking of the things that people obsess about
- 7:59Speaker 2: pre draft, it's always like hand size and all that stuff. Right,
- 8:03Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, I know how good of a
- 8:05Speaker 2: player Reuben Bain Jr.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Is.
- 8:07Speaker 2: But when I saw the picture of his arms, it
- 8:10Speaker 2: looks shockingly short, his arms dead. How much does that
- 8:14Speaker 2: factor into where his ability is as opposed to just
- 8:18Speaker 2: that one fact if he's got really tiny arms.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you what why it's such a big deal.
- 8:24Speaker 3: I know people, fans whatever shake their heads at all
- 8:28Speaker 3: of this stuff, but a lot of it is data.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And since nineteen ninety nine A there's been very few
- 8:37Speaker 3: edge rushers with those physical characteristics that have been drafted high,
- 8:43Speaker 3: and there's even fewer who have succeeded. So this isn't
- 8:47Speaker 3: a made up thing. Yeah, this is a real issue,
- 8:52Speaker 3: and teams have the data. It's like Sean Payton always
- 8:56Speaker 3: talks about risk short receivers. He always says, give me
- 9:00Speaker 3: the last twenty five years of how those guys have done.
- 9:05Speaker 3: And like I say, it's not a made up thing.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Since nineteen ninety nine, it's a very very short list
- 9:13Speaker 3: of us Cancy from I believe he's in Tampa now, yeah, yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 3: he's an example, but there it's a very very yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Since here's the one I have for sure since three
- 9:35Speaker 3: the only first rounders with arm length shorter than thirty
- 9:40Speaker 3: one selected in the first round since O three, we're
- 9:43Speaker 3: Kancy and David Pollock. Wow, that's two. That's two guys,
- 9:48Speaker 3: and you might have two this year. But the difference
- 9:54Speaker 3: with Bain is the power he plays with. That's that's
- 9:58Speaker 3: his his counter balance to the argument. So you have
- 10:02Speaker 3: to if you're evaluating players, you have to just look
- 10:04Speaker 3: and say, is he a different type of player than
- 10:09Speaker 3: the guys who haven't succeeded? And I think his power
- 10:13Speaker 3: and his work off the snap make him different. But
- 10:18Speaker 3: it's going to be a challenge and he is going
- 10:20Speaker 3: to have to to find a way to deal with it.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Jeffrey number twelve on your top one hundred again jeff
- 10:26Speaker 5: Legwell's top one hundred, not necessarily where he thinks these
- 10:28Speaker 5: guys will be drafted, just in straight talent who he
- 10:32Speaker 5: believes to be in order the top one hundred players.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Number twelve, it happens to be your first wide receiver
- 10:38Speaker 5: Jordan Tyson out of Arizona State, who, by the way.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Started his career in Colorado. He was a Buff.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yes, this guy was a Buff.
- 10:45Speaker 5: So it's amazing.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I mean, you think about the road he took.
- 10:48Speaker 5: The one question I have for you, So you got
- 10:50Speaker 5: this guy very highly rated, as do a lot of
- 10:52Speaker 5: different draft analysts. Does the injury concern change where you
- 10:58Speaker 5: put a guy ACL, MCL fractured collar bone, He's had
- 11:02Speaker 5: a little bit of.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Everything, right. ACL used to change it more than it
- 11:07Speaker 3: does now. When I was doing this thirty five years ago,
- 11:11Speaker 3: an ACL would be a one or two round difference.
- 11:16Speaker 3: That's not the case anymore. I mean you look at
- 11:19Speaker 3: even guys on the Broncos if had you know, Courtland
- 11:21Speaker 3: Sutton had an ACL and he's had you know, thousand
- 11:26Speaker 3: yard seasons since. So that is no longer that type
- 11:30Speaker 3: of injury that it used to be. Uh, but it
- 11:34Speaker 3: does factor in the thing. I have some medical information,
- 11:39Speaker 3: I have the ability to get some medical information. I
- 11:43Speaker 3: fully tell people I don't have the medical information the
- 11:48Speaker 3: teams have, so his draft position thirty two. Medical staffs
- 11:54Speaker 3: in the league are going to have different levels of
- 11:57Speaker 3: comfort with guys injuries. I have no doubt there will
- 12:01Speaker 3: be some teams that move Tyson far down the board
- 12:06Speaker 3: because of his injury history because the doctors say they should,
- 12:10Speaker 3: while other teams will have no issue whatsoever and and
- 12:14Speaker 3: just take him wherever he is. So his draft status
- 12:18Speaker 3: is really up to each medical staff and what the
- 12:21Speaker 3: what the GM is is comfortable with. But just as
- 12:24Speaker 3: a receiver, I had Carneal Tate at ten and Tyson
- 12:29Speaker 3: at twelve. Those are my two first receivers. But Tyson
- 12:34Speaker 3: is athletically more explosive than Tate. Tate's just a more
- 12:40Speaker 3: well rounded player and more far more polished and what
- 12:45Speaker 3: he does.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Jeff, if I had a Tory ACL MCL, PCL, broken
- 12:50Speaker 4: collarbone and a hamstring injury, you'd put me down like
- 12:54Speaker 4: a bad resource.
- 12:56Speaker 3: He's enough enough. Yeah, yeah, And you know, I'm not
- 12:59Speaker 3: sure what you're approach to rehab would be well.
- 13:06Speaker 4: For me. For me, You've got the tight end out
- 13:08Speaker 4: of Oregon, you know, I guess middle of the pack
- 13:10Speaker 4: or close to middle of the pack. Here in the
- 13:12Speaker 4: first round, and his name was one of those Oh
- 13:15Speaker 4: everybody wants Sadik. Heh, you know everybody's Sadik. Is it possible,
- 13:21Speaker 4: I know, I know this isn't where you think he's
- 13:22Speaker 4: gonna be drafted, But is it possible that people value
- 13:26Speaker 4: him enough at the tight end spot and he's a
- 13:28Speaker 4: rare cat that they'll they'll leap up there. Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I think I think he goes pretty quickly probably. I
- 13:38Speaker 3: haven't heard of a scenario where he's in the top ten.
- 13:42Speaker 3: But this is such a defensive heavy board at the top.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I think it's hard for a lot of teams to
- 13:48Speaker 3: pass on offense sometimes, so he may get you know,
- 13:53Speaker 3: if he gets taken early, it's because there's a team
- 13:56Speaker 3: out there who just wants offense, uh, and they can't.
- 14:01Speaker 3: You know, the board just as as defensive heavy, and
- 14:04Speaker 3: some of the best players on offense are a lineman.
- 14:07Speaker 3: So uh. I think a team looking for offensive skill
- 14:11Speaker 3: impact could could take him earlier. But I think he
- 14:16Speaker 3: certainly goes tonight for sure.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Jeff Lagwell ESPN dot Com on Conversations what leg You're
- 14:21Speaker 2: brought to you by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
- 14:23Speaker 2: IBW Local sixty eight start.
- 14:25Speaker 1: With a job and with a career.
- 14:26Speaker 2: One last thing le obviously not gonna happen tonight, but
- 14:30Speaker 2: at any point over the weekend, will they see you
- 14:33Speaker 2: player get drafted?
- 14:36Speaker 3: I'm not sure you know that Jordan Tyson is Yeah, no,
- 14:42Speaker 3: I mean that's not a current current CU player, you know.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I think maybe you know day three if they have
- 14:51Speaker 3: one late day three.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Yeah, what counts anymore?
- 14:54Speaker 5: Though, in the era of NIM, if you spent two
- 14:56Speaker 5: or three years at a school, why wouldn't account Well,
- 14:59Speaker 5: do you consider RUSSELLI in a Wisconsin guy or NC states.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Both both, That's what I would say.
- 15:03Speaker 5: I'd say he's both.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I will say it's that's one of the biggest changes
- 15:08Speaker 3: when I, you know, forty you know, forty years ago
- 15:12Speaker 3: or so, and I started doing this. If you transferred once,
- 15:16Speaker 3: it was a red flag, like you had to you
- 15:18Speaker 3: had to go seek out the reasons the player transferred.
- 15:22Speaker 3: And I would spend so much time trying to see
- 15:25Speaker 3: did he argue with his coach? What happened? You would
- 15:29Speaker 3: spend so much time with that. And this year I
- 15:32Speaker 3: had prospects that had transferred four times on the board,
- 15:37Speaker 3: and it's just such a difference and I think even
- 15:41Speaker 3: the even the NFL evaluators have had to factor it
- 15:45Speaker 3: in because they do give it a look. If it
- 15:48Speaker 3: looks like you just transfer it because you didn't get
- 15:51Speaker 3: your own way, that is one thing that's still a
- 15:54Speaker 3: red flag. They get the money, they get all of it,
- 15:57Speaker 3: they understand it fully. But if if you transferred just
- 16:01Speaker 3: because it looked like you didn't get your own way,
- 16:03Speaker 3: that is still a bit of a red flag.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Okay, last question sixty two. Where the Nugget or the
- 16:09Speaker 5: Broncos have their draft pick?
- 16:10Speaker 4: Right?
- 16:10Speaker 1: Sixty two?
- 16:11Speaker 5: Yeah, if this holds true for you, you've got Missouri
- 16:15Speaker 5: that mom, Missouri linebacker Josiah Trotter. If you hit on
- 16:20Speaker 5: this for some reason, we will celebrate. H We will
- 16:24Speaker 5: take you out to dinner any restaurant you please. Moser
- 16:27Speaker 5: will cover the tab anything.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Jeff is like me. We order off a wall. That's
- 16:32Speaker 4: that's how we roll. So we'll be good to go there.
- 16:34Speaker 1: But Lakey, why why were you keeping that a secret
- 16:37Speaker 1: when I asked you that last week? Yeah, you were
- 16:39Speaker 1: so looking.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Because that's a genuine player they're interested in. Now. He
- 16:44Speaker 3: was not a he was not a top thirty player,
- 16:46Speaker 3: but he was the highest ranked prospect I had at
- 16:52Speaker 3: that point, but I didn't have any Broncos top thirty
- 16:59Speaker 3: guys left with that great But they interviewed him both
- 17:05Speaker 3: formally and informally, both at the Combine, and they got
- 17:11Speaker 3: the medical information from his knee. He had Arthur scotp
- 17:14Speaker 3: at surgery at the end of the season. They had
- 17:18Speaker 3: all of that from the Combine. So my understanding was
- 17:21Speaker 3: is they didn't feel like they needed him in for
- 17:23Speaker 3: a top thirty visit, but that is a player they
- 17:27Speaker 3: are genuinely interested in and have spent a lot of
- 17:29Speaker 3: time on. But Rodriguez was already gone for me at
- 17:35Speaker 3: that point, and the two tight ends were both top
- 17:38Speaker 3: thirty visits. Guys were gone and Christian Miller, Stars and
- 17:45Speaker 3: Claire were top thirty visits. Christian Miller, the defensive lineman,
- 17:50Speaker 3: I think is a possibility at sixty two, but he
- 17:54Speaker 3: was a top thirty visit. But I had a higher
- 17:56Speaker 3: grade on him as well.
- 17:57Speaker 2: All right, so keep an eye on Josiah Otter tomorrow.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Legy always appreciate the information, Thank.
- 18:02Speaker 3: You, sir, Thanks fellas. Put your feet up.
- 18:05Speaker 2: See that's Jeff Legweld ESPN dot com. Lakewell, I swear
- 18:11Speaker 2: to God, how lucky we are that that guy is
- 18:14Speaker 2: the draft guru.
- 18:15Speaker 1: That's the one you go to. He's the one. He
- 18:18Speaker 1: knows everything, he knows all he watches all.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Okay, and the reaction to see the people get so reactionary.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Oh you have my guy here. My good. It's not
- 18:26Speaker 4: where you think he's gonna go in the draft. And
- 18:28Speaker 4: who's gonna pick him. It's just player one through one hundred.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Person for the show.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I actually went back and I looked at his twenty
- 18:35Speaker 2: twenty five top one hundred, twenty twenty four, twenty twenty three.
- 18:39Speaker 1: It's amazing how accurate it is. Right in the morning,
- 18:42Speaker 1: the guy said he has right on the money.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Some of these names. Man, I take joy. I'm looking
- 18:47Speaker 5: at his top one hundred. The creativity of our country
- 18:51Speaker 5: coming up with first names these days. I like the
- 18:56Speaker 5: way they're spelled. What xavian Harris? How do you how
- 18:59Speaker 5: would you spelled xavion?
- 19:01Speaker 1: Get if you ever, if.
- 19:02Speaker 2: You're even close z A y v i O n
- 19:07Speaker 2: g A z A v i o n x avion
- 19:10Speaker 2: z x a v i A n. All right, here's
- 19:16Speaker 2: a real quick how about design stribbling the wide receiver
- 19:21Speaker 2: out of ole miss at number sixty eight.
