- 0:00Speaker 1: This is seven tor where the marks among show starts.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Now, well it's Friday. It's been a miserable week. It's
- 0:14Speaker 2: this weather, it's the cold. It just gets to you
- 0:16Speaker 2: after a while. Although I will say one thing. They
- 0:18Speaker 2: have picked up the garbage all over midtown Manhattan. The
- 0:21Speaker 2: garbage is gone. Half the snow is still there. There's
- 0:26Speaker 2: couple of snowbanks, real high ones, but most of them
- 0:30Speaker 2: going away.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Now.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Tomorrow tonight there could be a little snow overnight, nothing serious.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Should be an inch or less tomorrow and tomorrow night
- 0:41Speaker 2: the coldest day of the year in some of the suburbs.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It'll be like the minus twenty real feel. But it's
- 0:50Speaker 2: going to be very, very very cold this weekend. This
- 0:53Speaker 2: is that global warming that you heard about, those glaciers melting,
- 0:56Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff. So we got a lot
- 0:59Speaker 2: to get to. We'll get to the latest down, the
- 1:01Speaker 2: Guthrie kidnapping. We'll get to the shutdown. We'll get to
- 1:05Speaker 2: the super Bowl. We'll get to a crazy mom, Donnie.
- 1:08Speaker 2: We'll get to a Kamala making a fool out of herself.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We'll get we'll get to Johnny Carson coming up. If
- 1:14Speaker 2: you think of a plastic surgery. We'll get to that
- 1:16Speaker 2: coming up. A couple of things developing a New Jersey.
- 1:20Speaker 2: There's a special election eleventh Congressional district. The results not
- 1:25Speaker 2: definite yet, they're still counting. It's New Jersey, and there
- 1:30Speaker 2: is of course a kookie, left wing, woke candidate who
- 1:33Speaker 2: looks like they have a very very slight lead. Hey, also,
- 1:40Speaker 2: this was just announced they have arrested the leader of
- 1:44Speaker 2: the ben Ghazi attack. You remember the ben Ghazi attack
- 1:47Speaker 2: from years ago. Remember Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, her
- 1:51Speaker 2: disastrous testimony about why she wasn't able to prevent them
- 1:55Speaker 2: benng Ghazi attack, why she left those people in harm's way. Well,
- 2:00Speaker 2: they've found the leader of the Benghazi attack. They've just
- 2:02Speaker 2: announced the arrest moments ago. The Savannah Guthrie kidnapping her mother.
- 2:10Speaker 2: They're now convinced it with multiple people they think it
- 2:14Speaker 2: would have to be to carry this out. They are
- 2:19Speaker 2: no evidence, solid evidence, but they believe it was targeted,
- 2:24Speaker 2: that it wasn't just random that they went after Savannah
- 2:28Speaker 2: got to his mother for whatever reason, maybe thinking there'd
- 2:31Speaker 2: be a lot of money there. But now here's Paul Morrow,
- 2:36Speaker 2: the great expert on all this stuff in.
- 2:40Speaker 4: History, shows usually it's more than one because you need
- 2:43Speaker 4: other people not for the extraction, you're not for the
- 2:46Speaker 4: horrible abduction, but to handle the logistics of secreting her someplace. Again,
- 2:54Speaker 4: historic examples show you need more than one person. Somebody
- 2:56Speaker 4: has to watch, or somebody goes gets food, and you
- 2:59Speaker 4: have to communicate at some point. Are they going to
- 3:01Speaker 4: want to communicate? Well, and I got to pick up
- 3:02Speaker 4: your phone and communicate right from where you are. I'm
- 3:05Speaker 4: sure they have all kinds of things they're trying to
- 3:06Speaker 4: work through.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah, some pretty good points. Now, supposedly they have what
- 3:10Speaker 2: they believe is the real ransom demand. There were phony
- 3:14Speaker 2: ones coming in left and right. In fact, one of
- 3:17Speaker 2: the phony ransom demands, they were able to trace the
- 3:19Speaker 2: guy down. It's Derek Kalalela. They have arrested him. It
- 3:23Speaker 2: was an imposter ransom note and he was demanding bitcoin.
- 3:29Speaker 2: They have arrested the guy. His charges will be two
- 3:33Speaker 2: counts of transmitting communication containing a demand or request for
- 3:37Speaker 2: ransom in exchange for the relief of a kidnapped person.
- 3:41Speaker 2: So the guy will spend a lot of time in jail.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Apparently he'd been following the case on TV. He thought
- 3:47Speaker 2: he could make some money and sent the text messages.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Somehow got a hold of the Guthrie's contact information. You know,
- 3:53Speaker 2: for a lot of people, if you go online, you
- 3:55Speaker 2: can find their address, you can find their phone numbers.
- 3:58Speaker 2: So just transmit. I think, even if it's a fake
- 4:00Speaker 2: ransom note, very serious crime. This guy will do some
- 4:03Speaker 2: serious jail time now according to the police, well actually
- 4:10Speaker 2: it's actually TMZ. The law enforcement has not officially released this,
- 4:14Speaker 2: but according to the TMZ and their sources, the demands
- 4:18Speaker 2: in the ransom note have deadlines, and they missed one
- 4:21Speaker 2: deadline already, and the ransom note said there be consequences.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Then there's a second demand for Monday, and if that's
- 4:30Speaker 2: not meant, it said serious consequences. So they're demanding millions
- 4:35Speaker 2: and millions of dollars in bitcoin in crypto. I don't
- 4:40Speaker 2: know if it's bitcoin. But the family now putting out videos.
- 4:45Speaker 2: They haven't spoken to anybody. They're just getting these demands.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And here's I think this is the brother.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Whoever is out there holding our mother. We want to
- 4:55Speaker 5: hear from you. We haven't heard anything directly. We need
- 4:59Speaker 5: you to reach out. Can we need a way to
- 5:01Speaker 5: communicate with you? So we can move forward.
- 5:04Speaker 2: I mean, I understand you can't just transfer the money
- 5:06Speaker 2: into crypto without knowing something.
- 5:09Speaker 5: We need you to reach out and we need a
- 5:11Speaker 5: way to communicate with you so we can move forward.
- 5:14Speaker 6: The family needs proof of life. They need to know
- 5:17Speaker 6: that this person is still alive, because there are people
- 5:20Speaker 6: who will commit fraud and simply ask for money. You
- 5:23Speaker 6: transfer money and that person disappears.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so police believe it's targeted. Also, they're actually this
- 5:30Speaker 2: location is very close, like fifteen miles for the Mexican border.
- 5:34Speaker 2: They're worried that they went over the border. That's another possibility.
- 5:38Speaker 2: You now, you know she had the security camp, she
- 5:41Speaker 2: had those ring cameras, that stuff. But but the big
- 5:46Speaker 2: problem is she didn't pay for the subscription. Apparently you
- 5:50Speaker 2: have to have a subscription for all the video to
- 5:52Speaker 2: be stored on a server. So the video is not saved.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Because of no subscription, they don't have any video. Otherwise
- 6:01Speaker 2: they would have had video, they would have been able
- 6:02Speaker 2: to see something. The doorbell camera disconnected around one am.
- 6:09Speaker 2: It's possible the kidnappers knew how to disconnect it to
- 6:14Speaker 2: twelve am. The software detected a person on the camera,
- 6:17Speaker 2: but again no video, she didn't maintain a subscription. Terrible.
- 6:22Speaker 2: So we'll see this is not going to end. I
- 6:25Speaker 2: just don't think this is going to end well. So
- 6:29Speaker 2: now they're working on a deal for the shutdown. Looks
- 6:33Speaker 2: like Chuck Schumer is trying to make a deal now.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Apparently Trump and Schumer are talking all the time. They're
- 6:41Speaker 2: negotiating and negotiating and negotiating. And one thing Trump asked for,
- 6:48Speaker 2: they want the federal funding for Penn Station, the Gateway thing,
- 6:53Speaker 2: all the federal funding for our big infrastructure plans here.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And Trump asked, since he's going to and the billions
- 7:01Speaker 2: to redo Penn Station, that he would like it renamed
- 7:05Speaker 2: Trump Station. Same thing with the Dulles Airport, that's the
- 7:10Speaker 2: major airport outside of Washington, d C. Reagan National is
- 7:14Speaker 2: like the LaGuardia of Washington DC. Dulles is like the
- 7:17Speaker 2: Kennedy Airport of Washington, d C. He'd like it renamed
- 7:21Speaker 2: Trump International Airport. And I think it's a good idea.
- 7:26Speaker 2: It should be Trumps Station instead of Penn Station. I
- 7:28Speaker 2: think it would be perfect. It would make every liberal,
- 7:32Speaker 2: every Democrat sick every time they had to ticket train.
- 7:35Speaker 2: It's going to be right on the train ticket. Every
- 7:38Speaker 2: time they look at anything to get the train schedule,
- 7:40Speaker 2: it'll say Trump Station, just to annoy them forever. I
- 7:44Speaker 2: think we should do it. Now here's the problem. You
- 7:46Speaker 2: know that as as soon as Democrats get back in power,
- 7:49Speaker 2: they'll Yankees name right off all of this stuff. But
- 7:53Speaker 2: you know, we do name things after presidents. Kennedy Airport
- 7:58Speaker 2: obviously after the assassination, Reagan Airport, just as a tribute
- 8:02Speaker 2: to a guy who'd done a great job. Well, Trump
- 8:04Speaker 2: has done a great job, so he should have an airport.
- 8:08Speaker 2: He really should remember he's got three more years once
- 8:10Speaker 2: he gets done with the ballroom, and then once he
- 8:14Speaker 2: gets done rebuilding the Kennedy Center. Don't be surprised if
- 8:18Speaker 2: in the final year he decides to build himself a
- 8:20Speaker 2: a monument. You got Washington Monument, You got the Lincoln Memorial,
- 8:24Speaker 2: the Jefferson Memorial. Yeah, yeah, that'll be judge again. There's
- 8:30Speaker 2: so many liberals driving around Washington, DC, so many Democrats
- 8:33Speaker 2: for them to have to pass by the Trump Memorial
- 8:37Speaker 2: every day on the way to work, it'd be great
- 8:40Speaker 2: just to make them miserable. But Schumer, now this idea
- 8:45Speaker 2: that Trump want the train station named after from the airport.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Schumer leaked that out to the press. That's why we
- 8:51Speaker 2: all know about the Schumer leaked it out, and a
- 8:54Speaker 2: in an attempt to stop it, and b to take
- 8:57Speaker 2: credit Schumer leaking it out and then saying he turned
- 9:00Speaker 2: it down. He said, no, Schumer trying to look like
- 9:02Speaker 2: a hero since he's an old dinosaur that everybody hates now,
- 9:07Speaker 2: so the fact that he leaked it out, that's not
- 9:09Speaker 2: going to sit well with President Trump. But again, they're
- 9:11Speaker 2: going to negotiate something. They'll probably kick the can down
- 9:15Speaker 2: the road, do another extension before a shutdown, so I
- 9:20Speaker 2: figure that'll happen over the weekend. Hey, Kamala Harris embarrassing
- 9:25Speaker 2: the hell out of herself. Apparently she really is thinking
- 9:29Speaker 2: of running again. Could you imagine that? And set up
- 9:33Speaker 2: a website all kinds of stuff. But but you know,
- 9:38Speaker 2: this old Kamala Harris, who's a little out of touch,
- 9:42Speaker 2: hasn't worked in a while, and even if she was
- 9:45Speaker 2: vice president, didn't do any work. Trying to sound like
- 9:48Speaker 2: she's gen Z or something when she's actually an old
- 9:51Speaker 2: fossil too. So she put all this gen Z lingo
- 9:54Speaker 2: into this new video. She put out with her new
- 9:57Speaker 2: Twitter account. It's headquarters sixty seven, because sixty seven it's
- 10:02Speaker 2: what all the kids use. It's the gen z slang
- 10:05Speaker 2: sixty seven. I don't think anybody told her, yeah, that's
- 10:10Speaker 2: over with. That was like eight months ago. They've done
- 10:12Speaker 2: with that. So even on CNN, they're even on CNN
- 10:17Speaker 2: they're ridiculing Kamala Harris saying the whole video was cringe worthy.
- 10:20Speaker 7: By the way, the handle they're using you can see there,
- 10:23Speaker 7: we're zooming in on it at headquarters underscore six to
- 10:26Speaker 7: seven six seven. As the kids used to say, well,
- 10:32Speaker 7: you know, used to say a lot of things, and
- 10:34Speaker 7: I think they also used to say, that's probably cringe.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah. So see, Kamala believes that she's like the young hip,
- 10:42Speaker 2: she's the AOC and not realizing she's the old, old old.
- 10:47Speaker 2: She looks like Dianne Feinstein. Everybody's an old California senator.
- 10:51Speaker 2: So figure she's got no shot at anything. In two
- 10:54Speaker 2: thousand and eight, President Trump a big thing, yes, say,
- 10:58Speaker 2: lowering drug prices all over the place. This is something
- 11:01Speaker 2: Democrats always claimed with the biggest, most important issue, But
- 11:05Speaker 2: now that he's doing it, they go totally silent. They
- 11:08Speaker 2: don't say a word.
- 11:09Speaker 8: Dozens of the most commonly used prescription drugs will be
- 11:13Speaker 8: available at traumatic discounts for all consumers throughout a new website.
- 11:19Speaker 8: It's called trump rx dot com.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, even ozempic. You know, Ozempic's very expensive. You want
- 11:26Speaker 2: to get on that ozempic. It's like a one thousand
- 11:28Speaker 2: dollars a week or something. But that'll come down.
- 11:30Speaker 8: Novo Nordesk will be slashing the price, as an example
- 11:34Speaker 8: of ozempic from more than one thousand dollars to one
- 11:39Speaker 8: hundred and ninety nine dollars.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, I'll save you a lot of money. Zempic again,
- 11:46Speaker 2: it's like one thousand dollars a shot. The insurance covers it,
- 11:49Speaker 2: but not all the time. You hear that cough I got.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I had it for a couple of weeks, So for
- 11:54Speaker 2: a couple of days I took mucinex and one of
- 11:57Speaker 2: the side effects it makes you a little nauseous. Well,
- 12:00Speaker 2: you lose your appetite, So you take it for a
- 12:03Speaker 2: couple of days, you got no appetite. I actually lost weight.
- 12:05Speaker 2: So forget the ozampic thousand dollars a shot. You get
- 12:08Speaker 2: some musin X for twelve bucks, and it has the
- 12:10Speaker 2: same effect. In fact, there's a lot of medicine. Look
- 12:13Speaker 2: on any medicine that sees may cause nausea stomachs, just
- 12:17Speaker 2: take a low dose of it for a while. That
- 12:18Speaker 2: might be much cheaper. It's like free ozempic Hey. Super
- 12:22Speaker 2: Bowl this Sunday, Yeah, that's gonna be great. Everybody. Uh,
- 12:26Speaker 2: some people happy, some people very upset about Bad Bunny.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I don't. To me, it doesn't make any difference. Who
- 12:32Speaker 2: pays that much attention to the halftime show Bad Bunny? Well,
- 12:36Speaker 2: here he is.
- 12:37Speaker 9: Everyone who's stopped me at the street or wherever I go,
- 12:40Speaker 9: they only wish like good themes on me. And I
- 12:44Speaker 9: know that they will is going to be happy at
- 12:47Speaker 9: these Sunday and they're gonna have fun, and they're gonna
- 12:50Speaker 9: dance and they're gonna have a good time.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Yeah. No, See he's a young guy. He's a little confused.
- 12:55Speaker 9: Everyone who's stopped me on the street.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Everyone comes up to me. They love the show. Well,
- 13:01Speaker 2: I get stopped a lot on the street or wherever,
- 13:04Speaker 2: and everybody loves the show. But see, I realize that's
- 13:08Speaker 2: the only people that come up to you. The people
- 13:10Speaker 2: that don't like this show or can't stand you. They
- 13:12Speaker 2: don't come up to you. So you got to remember.
- 13:14Speaker 2: People that hate you just look at you and they
- 13:17Speaker 2: keep walking. The only people will come up to you
- 13:19Speaker 2: are the fans. So don't go. It's not a good parometer,
- 13:23Speaker 2: it's not a good test. Hey, today we have a
- 13:26Speaker 2: new cardinal. This is his first day. His name is
- 13:29Speaker 2: Ronald Hicks Cardinal Dolan, who we love. Maybe the greatest
- 13:34Speaker 2: cardinal of our lifetime, I would say so, and a
- 13:36Speaker 2: guy I know well, and just an inspirational, magical figure.
- 13:42Speaker 2: You know, he's going to stay in New York. Cardinal
- 13:44Speaker 2: Dolney said, he will remain in New York, so he'll
- 13:46Speaker 2: be around doing things. But this Ronald Hicks takes over
- 13:49Speaker 2: at Saint Patrick's, and I'm not that crazy about him.
- 13:52Speaker 2: He's a like the Pope. He's like a left wing,
- 13:56Speaker 2: woke cardinal. Not what we're looking for here.
- 13:59Speaker 10: He is.
- 14:00Speaker 11: I noticed that I will reference the number of time
- 14:03Speaker 11: Pope Leo the fourteenth. I will strive always to be
- 14:08Speaker 11: obedient and respectful to him and also collaborate with his vision.
- 14:13Speaker 2: You'll also notice that Cardinal Dolan has this big, booming, happy,
- 14:19Speaker 2: inspiring joyful voice and this guy saying, this guy doesn't
- 14:22Speaker 2: sound the same.
- 14:23Speaker 12: What I'd like to do.
- 14:25Speaker 13: As the archbishop here is understand that in politics, in government,
- 14:30Speaker 13: they're going to be things that we disagree on. There are,
- 14:34Speaker 13: but I'd also like to make sure we pay attention
- 14:37Speaker 13: to what are those things that we can work together
- 14:39Speaker 13: for the common good?
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, again, doesn't sound great. Way too. We're gonna miss
- 14:44Speaker 2: really miss Cardinal Dolan's his birthday today too, Cardinal Dolan.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But as I say, he'll be around New York, so
- 14:51Speaker 2: he's not leaving. Hey, we got a lot to get to.
- 14:55Speaker 2: We'll take some calls. Next. Eight hundred three two one
- 14:58Speaker 2: zero seven ten is the number eight hundred three two
- 15:02Speaker 2: one zero seven ten in Mark.
- 15:06Speaker 1: On Demand by setting a presead for his vodcast on
- 15:10Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. Now back to Mark Simone on wor.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Okay, there's a lot of open lines. We never have
- 15:21Speaker 2: open lines.
- 15:21Speaker 10: Call us.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Let's go
- 15:30Speaker 2: to Robert in Westchester. Robert, how you doing all right?
- 15:35Speaker 10: Mark?
- 15:35Speaker 14: And good morning to you. Thank you for taking my call. Mark,
- 15:37Speaker 14: I don't know if you saw the news yesterday about
- 15:41Speaker 14: the second biological lab that they found right out of
- 15:45Speaker 14: Las Vegas, Nevada. And then another Chinese national that was
- 15:50Speaker 14: driving a semi he was too impatient to wait on
- 15:53Speaker 14: the side of the road where he was he went
- 15:55Speaker 14: over to the other lane, the oncoming traffic and slammed
- 15:59Speaker 14: into a van. For people, those people in our country
- 16:03Speaker 14: that continuously vote Democratic or promote to vote Democratic, have
- 16:08Speaker 14: they all forgotten what we went through and now what's
- 16:12Speaker 14: occurring in our nation that's putting everyone's life in jeopardy.
- 16:16Speaker 14: And on a good note that, I just want to say,
- 16:18Speaker 14: I totally agree with you. I am going to so
- 16:20Speaker 14: miss Cardinal Dolan. God bless that man.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we love Cardinal Dolan. Today's final day, but again
- 16:26Speaker 2: he's going to remain in New York. Who is before
- 16:30Speaker 2: Cardinal Dolan, Cardinal Egan it wasn't crazy about him either,
- 16:35Speaker 2: and then before that Cardinal O'Connor, who was another incredible cardinal, beloved,
- 16:42Speaker 2: great great Cardinal. Let's go to John Gosh in New York. John,
- 16:46Speaker 2: how you doing, Hey.
- 16:48Speaker 10: Mark, good morning, great big fan.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 16:51Speaker 15: I just want to ask you a question you were
- 16:53Speaker 15: talking about recently. How things can change the format and
- 16:57Speaker 15: the customers aren't happy. I always wanted to ask you
- 17:00Speaker 15: why did CBSF FM in two thousand and five go
- 17:03Speaker 15: to that Jack FM? It was to me it was
- 17:05Speaker 15: the biggest fail. They lost all their iconic DJs. Do
- 17:08Speaker 15: you know the backstory on that?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you get these sometimes these programming guys who they
- 17:14Speaker 2: looking like Atlanta and this Jack FM is doing great
- 17:18Speaker 2: in Atlanta, and they think it'll work here, and it
- 17:21Speaker 2: happens all the time with Cracker Barrel or wherever. It's
- 17:24Speaker 2: just wrong. And if you'll recall, everybody stopped listening to
- 17:28Speaker 2: cbs FM. They stopped playing oldies, and then I started
- 17:33Speaker 2: the Saturday night oldies show, remember on the other station,
- 17:36Speaker 2: exactly for a few years. Now. The problem is CBSFM
- 17:40Speaker 2: a few years later caved in. They went back to
- 17:42Speaker 2: playing oldies. Only it wasn't oldies. It was like eighties
- 17:46Speaker 2: and nineties. But if you think about it, when you
- 17:49Speaker 2: were first listening to these oldies, it was from twenty
- 17:52Speaker 2: years ago, twenty five years ago, and if you went
- 17:55Speaker 2: back twenty five years now, that's two thousand and one,
- 18:00Speaker 2: eighties and nineties or oldies. But it was something about
- 18:02Speaker 2: the sixties, fifties, sixties seventies, it was a different kind
- 18:05Speaker 2: of music. It was more melodic. Once the eighties came along,
- 18:08Speaker 2: it was a whole different type of music. It doesn't
- 18:11Speaker 2: it's not the same as oldiest. Let's go to Mike
- 18:13Speaker 2: and Florida. Mike, how you doing, good morning, Mark.
- 18:17Speaker 10: Yes, Mike, Let's ask you a very similar question.
- 18:20Speaker 3: So you would mentioning that you had booked at PIHFM
- 18:23Speaker 3: back in the day and now it's WUFA N. So
- 18:26Speaker 3: when these stations change format, is there a protocol for
- 18:30Speaker 3: you guys? You know, would you like to stay and
- 18:33Speaker 3: do sports or you're out on your rear end?
- 18:35Speaker 10: And how does it? How do you adjust and how
- 18:37Speaker 10: do you you know, well, you're.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Usually out on your rear end, depends how good you
- 18:41Speaker 2: are behind the scenes politically maneuvering business. But it's like
- 18:44Speaker 2: that in any company. You know, you go in and
- 18:46Speaker 2: talk to them. If you convince them that you can
- 18:48Speaker 2: do sports. And I got a big background sports, I'm
- 18:50Speaker 2: huge sports, they'll they'll they'll stick with you. It can happen,
- 18:54Speaker 2: and sometimes people go and sometimes people stay that you know, there's.
- 18:58Speaker 10: Guys stations have you I'm sorry how many what and
- 19:02Speaker 10: how many.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Stations have you worked at over the course of all
- 19:05Speaker 3: these years that have changed formats like that?
- 19:07Speaker 10: It seems like a fairly popular business decisions.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Actually, wp I x FM, that was a pot f
- 19:14Speaker 2: M station we wanted, but we changed. We went through
- 19:16Speaker 2: several formats. I used to be there, Jim Kurr used
- 19:18Speaker 2: to be there.
- 19:19Speaker 10: Uh.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Then I w mc A no, that was the big
- 19:23Speaker 2: talk station at the time. Then I went to w ABC,
- 19:26Speaker 2: no is it wn w W A b C. And
- 19:29Speaker 2: then here that's not that many stations. Wow, yeah, it's
- 19:33Speaker 2: pretty good. All right, thanks for Colin. Let's go to
- 19:36Speaker 2: uh Steve in Brooklyn. Steve, how you doing good?
- 19:40Speaker 10: How are you? Thanks taking my Let me ask you
- 19:44Speaker 10: a question. If we hate the fake news all the time,
- 19:48Speaker 10: why do they Trump and the plast secretary? Great questions
- 19:53Speaker 10: from that nasty woman from CNN? Why bother talking to her?
- 19:58Speaker 2: Well, a, you have to take questions from all the
- 20:01Speaker 2: networks because it's just it's just probah, it's just protocol.
- 20:07Speaker 2: But also they kind of enjoy it. They love they
- 20:09Speaker 2: love picking on her. They love she's like a pinata.
- 20:12Speaker 2: They love smacking her around. It's fun.
- 20:17Speaker 10: They go on, go on Stephanopolos the show, and he's
- 20:21Speaker 10: the worst. I don't get it.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just fun. They enjoy it, they get a
- 20:24Speaker 2: kick out of it. It's good practice.
- 20:26Speaker 10: Uh.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I don't know why they called that George Stephanoppolos show.
- 20:28Speaker 2: He's only on like once every seven weeks. It's more
- 20:32Speaker 2: what's his name? Jonathan carl And who's that?
- 20:34Speaker 10: Uh?
- 20:35Speaker 2: That old hag Martha Raddits. They're on ninety two percent
- 20:39Speaker 2: of the time. They should be their show. Let's go
- 20:41Speaker 2: to Jack in North Carolina.
- 20:43Speaker 16: Jack, how you doing, Hey, Mark, good morning. I just
- 20:46Speaker 16: wanted to make a comment. Last year yesterday I was
- 20:50Speaker 16: speaking or listening to you about the economy, and I
- 20:54Speaker 16: think one of the biggest things that's still hurting America
- 20:58Speaker 16: is the interest rates are being so high. I'm a
- 21:01Speaker 16: small business owner and I work in the agricultural industry,
- 21:06Speaker 16: talk with farmers all the time, and they're hurting. And everybody,
- 21:10Speaker 16: I think right now, is still being crippled by the
- 21:13Speaker 16: interest rates. And so even though Trump has put in
- 21:16Speaker 16: all kinds of tax and centers and so forth that
- 21:20Speaker 16: are going to kick in this year, it still hasn't trickle.
- 21:23Speaker 2: That's a good point. But the interest rates are coming down.
- 21:25Speaker 2: They'll come down when you get your new fed shairman
- 21:27Speaker 2: should be in about three months, or get lower interest rates.
- 21:30Speaker 16: And well, we're hoping we can hang on that long.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You can hang on, you can do it. Thanks for calling.
- 21:36Speaker 10: Hey.
- 21:36Speaker 2: You know we have listeners all over the country who
- 21:38Speaker 2: get calls from all over the country. But even if
- 21:40Speaker 2: I don't say where they're from, you can always tell.
- 21:42Speaker 2: You can always tell when they're not from New York
- 21:45Speaker 2: because when they go, Hi, how are you, they're happy?
- 21:48Speaker 2: Great to talk to you. You can always tell me
- 21:50Speaker 2: from New York. Hello. I just want to ask you
- 21:53Speaker 2: they all got that. Why do we all sound like
- 21:56Speaker 2: like we're miserable here? I don't know, we're happy. We're
- 21:59Speaker 2: happy here. Let's go to Chris and Beth Page. Chris,
- 22:02Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 22:04Speaker 10: And Mark? I'll try to be upbeat even though I
- 22:06Speaker 10: was born in the Bronx.
- 22:08Speaker 2: You see what I mean? The guy from North Carolina? Hi,
- 22:10Speaker 2: how are you? I'm glad to talk to you. Hello,
- 22:12Speaker 2: how are you?
- 22:14Speaker 15: I know?
- 22:17Speaker 10: So? Mark?
- 22:18Speaker 17: Two things quickly, where's Vincent?
- 22:21Speaker 10: I'm very worried?
- 22:22Speaker 2: Okay, no, I unfortunately I heard Vincent is very mad
- 22:27Speaker 2: at me something I said and the last call, Yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 2: what could I have said? We love Vincent?
- 22:32Speaker 10: I know, okay, all right, if he's listening.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Whatever it is, I apologize, But I would never love Vincent.
- 22:39Speaker 2: We never do, would do anything to hurt his feelings
- 22:41Speaker 2: or offend him. So if you know Vincent, yeah, well
- 22:45Speaker 2: we'll see if we fix this. What else you say?
- 22:48Speaker 17: And number two is and Mark number two is I love.
- 22:53Speaker 17: I don't love this Savannah gu three story at all.
- 22:55Speaker 17: I don't love it. But what I love is the
- 22:58Speaker 17: fact that the me is going nuts because it's not
- 23:02Speaker 17: an anti Trump thing, and it's driving them nuts. It's
- 23:05Speaker 17: taking up to it's getting them away from the Epstein.
- 23:08Speaker 17: You could just see they're like, it's a bit like.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's you know, such a tragic story. It's
- 23:12Speaker 2: kind of thing. I know, I know anybody, But you
- 23:15Speaker 2: bring up a good point. What if it was a
- 23:18Speaker 2: Trump family member? Can you who knows what these crazy
- 23:23Speaker 2: democrats and fake news would do? Anyway? Hey, coming up next,
- 23:27Speaker 2: we'll talk to our friend doctor Arthur Perry. He does
- 23:29Speaker 2: the show here on Saturdays at six o'clock, but he's
- 23:32Speaker 2: at the top plastic surgeon and everybody always has questions
- 23:36Speaker 2: about plastic surgery, including me. There's also some new stuff,
- 23:40Speaker 2: new breakthrough. Well, we'll ask him about it. We'll get
- 23:43Speaker 2: to that next on seven to ten wo R. You're
- 23:46Speaker 2: listening to the Mark Simone show. Wr Hey with us
- 23:54Speaker 2: right now. Doctor Arthur Perry. You know he's on w
- 23:57Speaker 2: o R every Saturday night at six. He's one of
- 23:59Speaker 2: the top plastic surgeons in the world. Doctor Arthur Perry's
- 24:03Speaker 2: website is Perryplastic Surgery dot com.
- 24:06Speaker 18: Right, that's what it is, Mark, And thanks for that intro.
- 24:10Speaker 18: That's what I told you to say.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Anyway, Well you have a book out to what's the book?
- 24:14Speaker 18: Oh, straight talk about cosmetic surgery. I've got a few
- 24:18Speaker 18: of those, but you can still get it on Amazon
- 24:21Speaker 18: dot com.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I hate he's in the studio, as you hear. I
- 24:24Speaker 2: hate when he looks at me because he's a plastic surgeon.
- 24:26Speaker 2: They always look at you. I could fix that. Oh
- 24:28Speaker 2: that needs work. I gotta fix that.
- 24:30Speaker 18: Well, Mark, I didn't bring the boats, okay, but you
- 24:33Speaker 18: know I did botox live on Larry Meant It a
- 24:36Speaker 18: couple of weeks ago, and Larry challenged you. He said,
- 24:39Speaker 18: if I can do it. Simone can do it.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, I can't do it. I'm
- 24:44Speaker 2: not doing it. I don't like needles at traumatic just
- 24:47Speaker 2: to get a flu shot for me. I don't know
- 24:50Speaker 2: how these women come and do this like every month, right.
- 24:53Speaker 18: Well botox is about every three three four months or so.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Well, okay, but let's say it's long island every two weeks,
- 24:58Speaker 2: that's right.
- 24:59Speaker 18: Yeah, No, I I have patients that come every month
- 25:02Speaker 18: or two. They get, as Joan Rivers would say, the
- 25:04Speaker 18: little tweaks you know, we you know, just have to
- 25:08Speaker 18: keep you looking as good as possible, right.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and boat tox, like I get a little thing
- 25:13Speaker 2: there could get rid of that.
- 25:14Speaker 18: Oh yeah, I'm looking right at oh Mark, it's not
- 25:16Speaker 18: what time time, come on, you gotta do it.
- 25:21Speaker 2: But uh so I get this boatox. It fixes all that.
- 25:23Speaker 2: You look much younger. But but what's the side effect?
- 25:27Speaker 18: Very little? You know, about five percent of people get
- 25:29Speaker 18: a headache for an hour or so. Sometimes you get
- 25:32Speaker 18: a bruise. But boatox is really good, it really is.
- 25:35Speaker 18: I'm doing you know the people clenched their teeth at night, right, yeah,
- 25:39Speaker 18: that massive muscle the Yeah, so I'm injecting boatos into
- 25:43Speaker 18: that too. It reshapes the lower face now really absolutely,
- 25:47Speaker 18: and that lasts almost six months.
- 25:49Speaker 2: What if you have sleep apnea and you got to
- 25:51Speaker 2: like reposition your jaw a little, couldn't do that?
- 25:54Speaker 18: No, it's not going to reposition your jaw. No, you
- 25:56Speaker 18: still have to see the sleep doctor for the app there.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Hey, what's this? Keep hearing about this Frankenstein procedure in
- 26:01Speaker 2: plastic surgery?
- 26:02Speaker 10: What is that?
- 26:03Speaker 2: Mark? This is?
- 26:04Speaker 18: You know I look at these things and this is unbelievable.
- 26:07Speaker 18: So how about this fat injected into your body? Sound
- 26:11Speaker 18: sounds good, right, But most people take their own fat,
- 26:14Speaker 18: so we do. We've been doing fat grafting. I've been
- 26:16Speaker 18: doing it since the nineteen eighties. You know, you take
- 26:18Speaker 18: a little from your your hips and you know, put
- 26:21Speaker 18: it in your nasal labial folds here or yeah, that's
- 26:25Speaker 18: that's okay. But now there's a company that's taking dead fat,
- 26:30Speaker 18: cadaver fat. Can you imagine? Listen to this scenario. You
- 26:35Speaker 18: you know, your family member dies and it's a it's
- 26:37Speaker 18: a solemn thing, and you say, well, we're going to
- 26:40Speaker 18: donate the body to you know, the organ's the kidney's heart,
- 26:44Speaker 18: everything can be used by other people. That's such a
- 26:46Speaker 18: wonderful thing to be able to do that. But you
- 26:49Speaker 18: know what happens to the fat? They sell it, They
- 26:52Speaker 18: sell it to these companies that process it. And now
- 26:56Speaker 18: there's this company that sells it to plastic surgeons and
- 27:00Speaker 18: they're injecting dead cadaver fat into you. I can't believe
- 27:05Speaker 18: my colleagues are doing this. I'll be honest. I looked
- 27:07Speaker 18: at this and this is really you wouldn't do it.
- 27:09Speaker 18: I will not do that. I you know, I think
- 27:13Speaker 18: there's so many issues. There's ethical issues, and just you know,
- 27:17Speaker 18: I don't like the idea of having a dead fat
- 27:20Speaker 18: in my body. You know, if you need a kidney, okay,
- 27:23Speaker 18: you need a kidney, but how about fat mark I
- 27:25Speaker 18: don't know.
- 27:26Speaker 2: So you have organ donors, then you could also if
- 27:28Speaker 2: you wanted to donate your fat to the Yentas of
- 27:31Speaker 2: the Upper east Side to be used.
- 27:33Speaker 18: In It's it's unbelievable. So what people are doing, they're
- 27:36Speaker 18: donating their entire body and they have no idea that
- 27:38Speaker 18: their fat is going to you know, some woman on
- 27:42Speaker 18: the Upper east Side who wants a larger buttocks. Can
- 27:44Speaker 18: you imagine that? Really, I don't know, so I'm not
- 27:50Speaker 18: in on that one. I call it the Frankenstein procedure
- 27:52Speaker 18: because when you get dead fat in your buttocks, you know.
- 27:56Speaker 18: So all right, to the credit of the company, you know,
- 27:59Speaker 18: there's apparently no infectious diseases that can be transmitted, although
- 28:04Speaker 18: although mad cow disease we can't check for. So whenever
- 28:07Speaker 18: you get someone else's tissue, there's always that small chance.
- 28:11Speaker 18: But they devitalize it. So it's really only a scaffold.
- 28:15Speaker 18: It's like a sponge.
- 28:17Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:17Speaker 18: There used to be live animals and a sponge, right,
- 28:19Speaker 18: the real sponges. Yeah, but they kill those and you
- 28:21Speaker 18: use those to clean your sink.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I would tighten my neck if I don't have the
- 28:28Speaker 2: nerve to do this. But you can do it, Mark, No,
- 28:30Speaker 2: I really you really can't. You really can. But what
- 28:32Speaker 2: these people keep telling you, Well, could just get laser.
- 28:34Speaker 2: What was all this laser stuff?
- 28:36Speaker 18: So laser is huge right now, it really is. And
- 28:38Speaker 18: it's a good time of the year because here we
- 28:40Speaker 18: are in the winter. You know, everybody, it's going to
- 28:42Speaker 18: be like four degrees this weekend in New York, right,
- 28:45Speaker 18: So the laser is a tool and it actually creates
- 28:51Speaker 18: a little injury. And you say, why would we want
- 28:53Speaker 18: to injure ourselves. Well, many of the things we use
- 28:56Speaker 18: in plastic surgery are controlled injuries. And the laser he
- 29:00Speaker 18: up the tissue and when it does that, it shrinks it.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:03Speaker 18: It's the bacon in the frying pan effect. Right, you know,
- 29:05Speaker 18: you have this big piece of bacon and by the
- 29:08Speaker 18: time you eat it, those of you who eat the
- 29:10Speaker 18: bacon anyway, So it shrinks the tissue and it also
- 29:14Speaker 18: generates collagen. Collagen is the structural layer of the skin,
- 29:17Speaker 18: and it thins as we get older. Right, you lose
- 29:20Speaker 18: about one percent per year. So Mark, you're forty years old,
- 29:23Speaker 18: you've lost ten percent of your collagen so far. So
- 29:26Speaker 18: what the laser can do, that's a tool. And I
- 29:28Speaker 18: can set it like a light bulb. You know, you
- 29:31Speaker 18: can have a remember the twenty five waters and the
- 29:33Speaker 18: one hundred. Well they don't have those anymore. They do,
- 29:35Speaker 18: but you have to get the LEDs now. But you
- 29:39Speaker 18: can set the laser. I can make it so it
- 29:41Speaker 18: just exfoliates you. Or in the thirty year olds, I
- 29:45Speaker 18: might do just a very light laser around the earliest
- 29:49Speaker 18: wrinkles around the eyes. Right, But if you get to
- 29:51Speaker 18: be about seventy. You really need the full force of
- 29:54Speaker 18: that laser, and I can if I want it, I
- 29:56Speaker 18: could remove the skin and go down to the bone
- 29:58Speaker 18: with wazer. Oh yeah, So this laser drills little tiny
- 30:01Speaker 18: holes in the skin, and the new versions it's called
- 30:04Speaker 18: a fractionated laser, and so you don't lose your skin.
- 30:08Speaker 18: After the procedure, you look like you know, you were
- 30:12Speaker 18: near Chernobyl for a little while, and your face looks
- 30:15Speaker 18: a little red, a little gray, and the next day
- 30:17Speaker 18: it looks terrible. You don't answer the door. If they
- 30:20Speaker 18: bring the pizza, you say, just leave it there, and
- 30:22Speaker 18: you know, I'll slide the money under the door because
- 30:24Speaker 18: you look absolutely terrible for about five, six, seven days.
- 30:28Speaker 18: But when the skin peels off like a sunburn, you
- 30:31Speaker 18: look great, really, and all the little brown spots peel
- 30:34Speaker 18: off and a lot of the wrinkles go away. And
- 30:37Speaker 18: the deeper I go, the more wrinkles go away. So
- 30:39Speaker 18: the lasers are really nice procedure. I'm doing a lot
- 30:42Speaker 18: of lasers this year.
- 30:43Speaker 2: And how often do you have to do that, I'll
- 30:44Speaker 2: lose it lest.
- 30:45Speaker 18: It depends on how deep we go. So if it's
- 30:47Speaker 18: a very superficial laser. It might be once a year,
- 30:49Speaker 18: but if it's the deep laser, I have patients that
- 30:52Speaker 18: look good for eighteen years. I think that's one of
- 30:56Speaker 18: my longest patients after the laser. Yeah. Yeah, so it's
- 30:59Speaker 18: a very long lasting effect.
- 31:01Speaker 2: All right, Well you can see doctor it's good. Go
- 31:03Speaker 2: to Perryplasticsurgery dot com. That's the website, Peryplasticsurgery dot com.
- 31:10Speaker 2: All this ozempic all over the place. People lose all
- 31:13Speaker 2: this weight ozempic. But then I look at their face
- 31:15Speaker 2: and it's kind of sinking and you must have to
- 31:18Speaker 2: fix a lot of that. Yeah.
- 31:19Speaker 18: Yeah, it's the the deflated face after ozempic. You know, ozempic, zepound.
- 31:25Speaker 18: There are great drugs, they really are. Uh, but you
- 31:28Speaker 18: lose weight. And when the you lose weight rapidly, you
- 31:31Speaker 18: sag so in the neck, the breast sag, the belly
- 31:35Speaker 18: SAgs so, and the mark, the vulva okay, uh, the
- 31:39Speaker 18: lab you know, everywhere it SAgs. So you know, we
- 31:43Speaker 18: plump those areas up. We use we use fat, but
- 31:46Speaker 18: I use your fat, not some someone from a morgue. No, uh,
- 31:52Speaker 18: you know, I would use your own live fat or
- 31:54Speaker 18: better yet, just things like wrestling or Jupiter and those
- 31:57Speaker 18: are those are really good fillers. Plump up the cheeks,
- 32:01Speaker 18: plump up the lips, plump We have to do a
- 32:03Speaker 18: breast lift though, and a facelift and a tummy tuck
- 32:06Speaker 18: if you've really lost a lot of weight.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so you can plump up your lips. That looks
- 32:11Speaker 2: pretty good when it's done right.
- 32:12Speaker 18: But as long as it's done right, yeah, those ducks.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, if you go to Florida, you'll
- 32:19Speaker 2: see a lot of they look like Goodyear tires those lips.
- 32:22Speaker 18: So you know something there. You would think that a
- 32:25Speaker 18: board certified plastic surgeon would be doing those procedures, but
- 32:29Speaker 18: there are nurses, there are dentists, podia trists. It's incredible.
- 32:35Speaker 18: Why did Willie Sutton rob Banks Mark?
- 32:37Speaker 19: You know?
- 32:37Speaker 18: You know, because that's where the money is and why
- 32:39Speaker 18: are all these people that are not trained to do
- 32:41Speaker 18: it doing it? Because there's a lot of money in it, unfortunately,
- 32:45Speaker 18: But you get what you pay for and if you
- 32:47Speaker 18: if you have an artist doing your work, like a
- 32:49Speaker 18: plastic surgeon, then you should look pretty good. And if
- 32:53Speaker 18: you have a house painter, I don't know.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why when you if you want botex the
- 33:00Speaker 2: dentist can do it, the dermatologist, the hairdresser, but you
- 33:05Speaker 2: really need the expert plastic surgeon to know exactly where
- 33:08Speaker 2: to do it and how to do it right.
- 33:09Speaker 18: Well, you know, I think certainly there are dermatologists that
- 33:12Speaker 18: are very very good at this, and facial plastic surgeons.
- 33:14Speaker 18: They are odelaryngologists and plastic surgeons. Those are the ones
- 33:18Speaker 18: that are really the most appropriate. But the truth is,
- 33:23Speaker 18: you know, you see emergency room doctors they've decided they've
- 33:26Speaker 18: had enough with the pit and they're going to you know,
- 33:29Speaker 18: they're going to open up their place and hire a
- 33:33Speaker 18: few nurses and train them for maybe a couple hours.
- 33:36Speaker 18: Do you know, seriously, you can get certified in botox
- 33:41Speaker 18: in a two hour course with a half hour lunch break.
- 33:43Speaker 18: What it's not a real certification. It's just this diploma
- 33:46Speaker 18: on the wall. The shorter the course, the bigger the
- 33:49Speaker 18: diploma on the wall. It's really scary. It's the wild
- 33:53Speaker 18: West out there. You have to be very careful. Who
- 33:54Speaker 18: does your procedures?
- 33:56Speaker 2: All right, well, doctor Perry, thanks for coming in. Everybody,
- 33:58Speaker 2: you can listen to doctor Perry. He's on every Saturday night,
- 34:02Speaker 2: six o'clock, right, six o'clock to six thirty.
- 34:04Speaker 18: It's a short show. You gotta tune in early and
- 34:07Speaker 18: give me a call, same number as you, Mark, eight
- 34:09Speaker 18: hundred three two one zero seven ten right, yeah.
- 34:12Speaker 2: All right, Tomorrow night at six you can listen. Also,
- 34:14Speaker 2: get his book which is called Straight Talk about Cosmetic Surgery.
- 34:17Speaker 2: And don't forget those products.
- 34:19Speaker 18: Mark we are. Yeah, you make a lot of shameless
- 34:21Speaker 18: plug for you know Amazon, the product.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, you can get his products on Amazon. But
- 34:25Speaker 2: the best thing go to his website. Look over everything.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Go to Perry Plastic Surgery dot com. Perry Plastic Surgery
- 34:34Speaker 2: dot com. You'll see everything there, Doctor Arthur Perry, thanks
- 34:37Speaker 2: for being with us.
- 34:38Speaker 18: Thanks Mark, and next time botox in the studio keep dreaming. No,
- 34:43Speaker 18: he does great work, but I don't like needles in anywhere.
- 34:47Speaker 18: I mean again, to get a flu shot is traumatic
- 34:51Speaker 18: for me. It's a little valium. Then before him, we'll
- 34:55Speaker 18: do it, Mark, Well we'll we'll get you there. I'm
- 34:58Speaker 18: going to make a prediction sometime and then next year
- 35:00Speaker 18: you're gonna do this.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I don't think so, but it looks he did it
- 35:04Speaker 2: to Larry meant you look great anyway, Doctor Arthur Perry,
- 35:06Speaker 2: thanks for being with us. Hey, don't forget Buck and
- 35:08Speaker 2: Clay coming up at noon today on seven to ten
- 35:12Speaker 2: wor the Mark.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Simone Show on seventen wor.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Well, it's gonna be you can take advantage of today,
- 35:25Speaker 2: it's gonna be back in the twenties. But tomorrow, Saturday
- 35:28Speaker 2: and Sunday it's gonna be unbelievably cold, colder than it
- 35:32Speaker 2: has been for the last few weeks. The real field
- 35:35Speaker 2: be like minus fifteen or something tomorrow. So what if
- 35:39Speaker 2: you got to do outside, do it today. You will
- 35:41Speaker 2: not be going out tomorrow. It's gonna be awful. And
- 35:43Speaker 2: then you got the Super Bowl Sunday, so you'll be
- 35:47Speaker 2: inside anyway, the big Game coming up, and then Monday.
- 35:54Speaker 2: It goes back into the thirties next week, so that's
- 35:56Speaker 2: the good news. There is a chance for snow overnight
- 35:58Speaker 2: tonight into tomorrow, but looks like a coating to an anch.
- 36:02Speaker 2: It shouldn't be any more than that unless you're way
- 36:05Speaker 2: out in Long Island, then you might get a little more. Hey,
- 36:07Speaker 2: coming up after the news, if you love Johnny Carson,
- 36:10Speaker 2: we will have the Johnny Carson Expert of the world.
- 36:13Speaker 2: There's a great new book out about him. We'll get
- 36:15Speaker 2: to that coming up. We'll get to mom Donnie and
- 36:17Speaker 2: his crazy stuff that occurred over the last week. All
- 36:21Speaker 2: of that just ahead on seven to ten WR.
- 36:26Speaker 12: It's more a mare, mister New York on seven ten WR.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Well, so the Guthrie kidnapping, Savannah Guthrie's mother, now they're
- 36:43Speaker 2: getting things are coming out slowly, being released, very slowly.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Apparently neighbors did see a mysterious white van before the
- 36:52Speaker 2: mother vanished. Though, there was a mysterious white van that
- 36:57Speaker 2: was somewhere near the house. That would they believe it
- 36:59Speaker 2: was small kidnappers, because you'd need multiple kidnappers, especially once
- 37:04Speaker 2: you have her. Somebody's got to watch her, somebody's got
- 37:06Speaker 2: to go out and get food, somebody's got to do this.
- 37:10Speaker 2: A van obviously makes it a lot easier for a kidnapping.
- 37:14Speaker 2: So they did spot it. They're not saying exactly why,
- 37:19Speaker 2: but they believe it was targeted. They believe the kidnappers
- 37:23Speaker 2: knew who this woman was, knew that it was Savannah
- 37:25Speaker 2: Guthrie's mother. Now you got to figure that they thought
- 37:29Speaker 2: that that meant to be more money to get out
- 37:32Speaker 2: of Savannah Guthrie. It doesn't happen as often as you
- 37:35Speaker 2: would think where kidnappers look for the relative of a
- 37:40Speaker 2: very famous, wealthy person. But it has happened before. Frank
- 37:44Speaker 2: Sinatra's son the most famous case. But members Calvin Klein too,
- 37:48Speaker 2: nineteen seventy eight. Calvin Klein, who was as big as
- 37:52Speaker 2: could be back then, they kidnapped his daughter Marcy. She
- 37:54Speaker 2: was only eleven years old, then kidnapped here in New York.
- 37:58Speaker 2: But that was over fast. I think about twelve hours
- 38:01Speaker 2: later they found her. They did pay one hundred thousand
- 38:04Speaker 2: dollars ransom, which would be like a million dollars today.
- 38:08Speaker 2: But it doesn't happen as often as you'd think. So,
- 38:11Speaker 2: and we'll keep following the story for you. Hey, Scott Besson,
- 38:15Speaker 2: great job yesterday testifying. Actually was the day before Scott
- 38:20Speaker 2: Besson testifying in front of Democrats in Congress, and they
- 38:24Speaker 2: were yelling and screaming at him and just awful. It
- 38:27Speaker 2: was just out of control beating up on Scott Besson.
- 38:31Speaker 2: But he was great then. Elizabeth Warren is the question
- 38:35Speaker 2: we played to the ones yesterday, the nut jobs like
- 38:37Speaker 2: Elizabeth Warren yelling and screaming at him. Warren was more calm,
- 38:41Speaker 2: but Besson was great answering her, and he kept he
- 38:45Speaker 2: kept saying, you know, when she was trying to say
- 38:47Speaker 2: how bad things were, he kept pointing out it was
- 38:49Speaker 2: much worse before, and he called it the Warren Biden economy,
- 38:53Speaker 2: the Warren Biden economy. Listen to this. So let me
- 38:55Speaker 2: make sure that I understand.
- 38:57Speaker 7: Donald Trump is not saying affordability what's happening to families
- 39:02Speaker 7: right now.
- 39:02Speaker 20: As a hoax.
- 39:03Speaker 18: He is saying they're trying to lay the blame at
- 39:06Speaker 18: this administration rather than the Biden Warren economy is a hoax.
- 39:12Speaker 2: He kept repeating that Althrough's testimony the Biden Warren economy,
- 39:15Speaker 2: the Biden war In economy. Hey also speaking of this,
- 39:19Speaker 2: Scott Bessant revealing things going on in Iran. You know,
- 39:24Speaker 2: the revolution, the revolt continues in Iran. We believe that
- 39:28Speaker 2: the Iranian leaders are very worried that the revolution will succeed.
- 39:33Speaker 2: They're already planning their getaway if they have to. The
- 39:36Speaker 2: Iranian leaders planning to go to Russia. I guess Russia.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Putin has said he will take care of them, and
- 39:44Speaker 2: they've come up with the plan there's about eleven people
- 39:47Speaker 2: this Shaw not to show the Ayahtola and eleven of
- 39:51Speaker 2: his closest people will go there. But bessan't saying yesterday.
- 39:55Speaker 2: They now know that these Iranian leaders are wiring money
- 39:58Speaker 2: out of the country. Crazy. They're wiring tons of money
- 40:03Speaker 2: out of the country, which means most likely they are
- 40:08Speaker 2: getting ready to flee if they're wiring all that money away.
- 40:11Speaker 2: So hey, a lot of fighting about the shutdown, stuff
- 40:15Speaker 2: about defunding Homeland Security, which you can't do. Everything's in
- 40:20Speaker 2: that department TSA, THEMA Secret Service can't defund it. But
- 40:24Speaker 2: they're fighting about this. The other thing Schumer's fighting about
- 40:26Speaker 2: is voter ID. Chuck Schumer fighting about voter ID. You know,
- 40:33Speaker 2: the Democrats keep pushing this ridiculous racist narrative that the
- 40:38Speaker 2: reason you can't have voter ID is minority voters don't
- 40:43Speaker 2: know how to get an ID, they don't have a
- 40:45Speaker 2: driver's Like, what kind of racist nonsense is that? If
- 40:49Speaker 2: you think about it, it's absolutely ridiculous. It's twenty twenty
- 40:52Speaker 2: six to keep pushing this line that you can't require
- 40:56Speaker 2: ID because minorities like they don't half idea, They wouldn't
- 41:01Speaker 2: even know how to get an ID. They it wouldn't
- 41:03Speaker 2: be capable of getting an ID. What kind of ridiculous,
- 41:07Speaker 2: idiotic nonsense is it. But these old, old old dinosaurs
- 41:12Speaker 2: like Schumer keep pushing this, and they they'll say, it's
- 41:14Speaker 2: Jim Crow. You know, I don't think he knows. Nobody
- 41:17Speaker 2: under seventy five knows what the hell Jim Crow is.
- 41:19Speaker 2: I don't know what he's talking about.
- 41:21Speaker 21: What they're trying to do here is the same thing
- 41:24Speaker 21: that was done in the South for decades to prevent
- 41:26Speaker 21: people of color from voting. For instance, if you can't
- 41:30Speaker 21: if you change you're a woman who got married and
- 41:33Speaker 21: changed your last name, you won't be able to show
- 41:35Speaker 21: ID and you'll be discriminated against. If you can't find
- 41:38Speaker 21: a birth certificate or a proper ID, you'll be discriminated against.
- 41:42Speaker 21: This is vicious and nasty. What the hell is this
- 41:45Speaker 21: lunatic talking about. You know a lot of women get
- 41:48Speaker 21: married and they get a married name instead of a
- 41:50Speaker 21: maiden name. This happens all the time, every day, every
- 41:53Speaker 21: second they all vote. What is he talking about, Blumenthal
- 41:59Speaker 21: making this same speech. You people in Connecticut don't laugh
- 42:02Speaker 21: at us for Evan Chuck Schumer. You got Richard Blumenthal,
- 42:05Speaker 21: who's as dirty and sleazy and slimy as you ever
- 42:09Speaker 21: watched bluementhal on TV. And if you have high definition TV,
- 42:12Speaker 21: you can actually see the slime dripping off him. It's amazing.
- 42:16Speaker 21: So super Bowl this Sunday. Bad Bunny is the President.
- 42:23Speaker 21: You know, normally the President would go to the Super Bowl,
- 42:25Speaker 21: but he's not gonna go. He says it's too far,
- 42:30Speaker 21: it's California. But I think it's because that wants to
- 42:32Speaker 21: sit through Bad Bunny, and you know this bad Bunny
- 42:35Speaker 21: might attack him in the middle of the show.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Why be sitting there? The White House Press Secretary Caroline
- 42:40Speaker 2: Levitt was asked about this.
- 42:41Speaker 20: I think the President would much prefer a kid rock
- 42:43Speaker 20: performance over Bad Bunny.
- 42:45Speaker 13: I must say that.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. So now he's going to go
- 42:50Speaker 2: to a palm beach for the weekend, mar A Lago.
- 42:52Speaker 2: In fact, he's gonna leave a little early today. Normally
- 42:54Speaker 2: leaves at five. He's going to leave at three o'clock today,
- 42:57Speaker 2: head to Florida. Missed the bitter cold weekend. At mar
- 43:01Speaker 2: A Lago, they always have a big Super Bowl party.
- 43:04Speaker 2: That's one of the big, big, big events there every season,
- 43:07Speaker 2: mar Alago the super Bowl party, so he'll be for
- 43:09Speaker 2: the be there for that Sunday night. Super Bowl is
- 43:12Speaker 2: over about like nine thirty or ten. Then it'll head
- 43:14Speaker 2: back to Washington, get back in the White House about
- 43:17Speaker 2: twelve thirty one in the morning, get two three hours
- 43:21Speaker 2: of sleep, and then put in an eighteen hour day
- 43:23Speaker 2: the next day. It's not like Joe Biden. Everything is different. Now, Hey,
- 43:27Speaker 2: the Olympics opens. When does it open today?
- 43:30Speaker 10: Right?
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah? I don't know who is doing the marketing public
- 43:36Speaker 2: relations for this year's Olympics, but I don't think I
- 43:38Speaker 2: would hire them. Have you ever seen less build up
- 43:40Speaker 2: to an Olympics? You really don't get a lot of
- 43:44Speaker 2: anything about the Olympics going on.
- 43:46Speaker 10: But it.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Starts today later today, Winter Olympics. I don't know anything
- 43:52Speaker 2: about it. I don't follow the Olympics. Mom. Donnie getting
- 43:56Speaker 2: a lot of flack, A lot of flack. Now, we
- 43:58Speaker 2: know he's a left wing wacko. But we've had left
- 44:02Speaker 2: wing wackos before, you know. But when you get a
- 44:07Speaker 2: left wing wacko of Bernie Sanders, or at least they've
- 44:09Speaker 2: been in government for a while, this guy hasn't been
- 44:13Speaker 2: in government. He hasn't been in anything. I even like
- 44:15Speaker 2: a state assemblyman for two weeks, but that's a part
- 44:18Speaker 2: time job. It's not a full time job. That state
- 44:21Speaker 2: Assembly is not full time. But he's never actually been
- 44:24Speaker 2: employed anywhere. He's never had a job. He's never gone
- 44:28Speaker 2: to work nine to five, five days a week. You
- 44:29Speaker 2: know this guy, I bit you. This guy's never owned
- 44:31Speaker 2: an alarm clock, never needed one. So can imagine your
- 44:36Speaker 2: first job ever, entry level job mayor of New York City.
- 44:41Speaker 2: So he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. He's
- 44:43Speaker 2: just crazy. And of course you expects some left wing
- 44:46Speaker 2: kook stuff, but he is really setting new records. Everybody
- 44:51Speaker 2: is stunned at his behavior. This week, there's a maniac
- 44:55Speaker 2: with a butcher knife going insane in his house. The
- 44:59Speaker 2: family calls the police, calls nine to one one, ask
- 45:03Speaker 2: for the police to please hurry get over there. They
- 45:05Speaker 2: get over there. There's the maniac. It's I guess it's
- 45:08Speaker 2: the husband or whoever it is. But he's got a
- 45:10Speaker 2: massive knife, like a butcher knife, screaming and yelling. The
- 45:14Speaker 2: cops guns drawn, yelling at him, put the knife down,
- 45:17Speaker 2: put the knife down. They can't get him to drop
- 45:19Speaker 2: the knife. Finally he charges the cops with this big,
- 45:22Speaker 2: huge knife and they have to shoot him. Mom, Donnie,
- 45:29Speaker 2: instead of rushing to see if the cops okay, Mom
- 45:31Speaker 2: Donnie rushes to the hospital to visit the lunatic. Can
- 45:35Speaker 2: you imagine this? You ever heard of such a thing?
- 45:38Speaker 2: Maniac with a knife tries to kill a cop. Luckily
- 45:40Speaker 2: the cop is able to stop him. Mom Donnie rushes
- 45:44Speaker 2: to the maniac, Are you okay? What kind of idiot
- 45:48Speaker 2: are we dealing with?
- 45:50Speaker 12: This?
- 45:50Speaker 19: Is?
- 45:51Speaker 2: I mean, even de Blasio would know better, even to Blasio,
- 45:54Speaker 2: go to the cops, the cop is the officer all right?
- 45:57Speaker 2: Is it okay? Or go to the family. Are okay?
- 46:01Speaker 2: But to rush to the hospital to make sure the
- 46:03Speaker 2: maniac is being taken care of, make sure the lunatic
- 46:06Speaker 2: is okay? Unbelievable, just amazing. Now, I think the most
- 46:14Speaker 2: important thing in November that we get Bruce Blakeman as governor.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Common sense does a great job best county executive, which
- 46:20Speaker 2: is like a governor job, best county executive in America.
- 46:23Speaker 2: You want to have Bruce Blakeman win in November. He's
- 46:26Speaker 2: got a very good chance. Hocel one minute, she's pandering.
- 46:32Speaker 2: One minute, she's caving in, either pandering or caving in
- 46:36Speaker 2: to somebody. She was terrified of Mom Donnie and his army.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Mam Donnie has an army, a very effective election workers
- 46:42Speaker 2: and all that stuff, and he's been threatening her that
- 46:47Speaker 2: she better fall in line with him, and she caved in,
- 46:50Speaker 2: and she has because she doesn't want his army out
- 46:52Speaker 2: there screwing up her her election chances in November. So
- 46:56Speaker 2: she's agreed to do whatever the hell Mom Donnie wants.
- 46:59Speaker 2: That's why she picked this real left wing lunatic, Adrian
- 47:03Speaker 2: Adams to be her running mate. Adrian Adams, the city
- 47:06Speaker 2: council speaker, real left wing kook. Last person you want
- 47:10Speaker 2: is lieutenant governor Hey, and remember don't say that lieutenant
- 47:15Speaker 2: governor doesn't meanything. Governors go away a lot, and we
- 47:18Speaker 2: end up with the lieutenant governor that a lot of
- 47:21Speaker 2: governors have had to lead, from Spitzer to Cuomo. Spitzer left,
- 47:25Speaker 2: he got David Patterson, who was great, it was a
- 47:28Speaker 2: phenomenal governor. So that was fine. But Cuomo leaves, and
- 47:31Speaker 2: that's how you got Kathy Hockel, and so Adrian Adams,
- 47:36Speaker 2: you don't want her second in command there. It's just
- 47:40Speaker 2: a Now Hokeel finally got because she caved in, did
- 47:43Speaker 2: whatever mom Donnie wanted. He endorsed her. Yesterday he officially
- 47:47Speaker 2: endorsed Kathy Hochel.
- 47:48Speaker 12: This is an endorsement that I make as a reflection
- 47:52Speaker 12: of how Governor Hokele is leading this state. And that
- 47:56Speaker 12: leadership has included transforming the relationship between the city and
- 48:01Speaker 12: state from one that has often been characterized by pettiness
- 48:04Speaker 12: and making it one that is characterized more by productivity.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounds very good what he just said. I
- 48:10Speaker 2: don't know what the hell he said. What does that mean?
- 48:12Speaker 2: Transform the relationship between city and state? I guess what
- 48:17Speaker 2: that means is she'll do whatever the hell he wants.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Now he controls her. Now this is bad news because
- 48:23Speaker 2: he wants to raise taxes. The mayor doesn't have the
- 48:26Speaker 2: power to raise taxes, but the governor certainly does. And
- 48:30Speaker 2: that means they've made some kind of deal, which means
- 48:32Speaker 2: she'll campaign saying no tax increase, no tax increase, and
- 48:36Speaker 2: then as soon as the election is over, tax increase.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Remember she did that with congestion pricing. Remember she said,
- 48:45Speaker 2: no congestion pricing is off. It's off the table. It's
- 48:50Speaker 2: dropped till the election was over. Next day congestion pricing,
- 48:55Speaker 2: So she'll do that with taxes, Mom, Donnie, give them credit.
- 48:59Speaker 2: The garbage got picked up a little late, but it's
- 49:01Speaker 2: getting picked up. Snow is still out there. The cold
- 49:04Speaker 2: is this what do you call this? Code blue has
- 49:06Speaker 2: been on nineteen days now.
- 49:08Speaker 12: This cold snap might end up becoming the coldest period
- 49:12Speaker 12: in recorded history in New York City. And it is
- 49:14Speaker 12: a cold blue here in New York City, which means
- 49:17Speaker 12: that every time a New Yorker calls three one one,
- 49:19Speaker 12: we reroute that to nine one one. We're looking to
- 49:21Speaker 12: bring everyone inside.
- 49:23Speaker 2: It's government. They like these words. You would just say, hey,
- 49:26Speaker 2: it's cold out. Not with them, it's code blue. And
- 49:28Speaker 2: we had a code blue here. What does that mean?
- 49:30Speaker 2: It means it's cold out. Now. He's killed like seventeen
- 49:34Speaker 2: is it nineteen? Now? Homeless people because normally when it
- 49:39Speaker 2: gets dangerously cold, the city takes the homeless off the street,
- 49:43Speaker 2: whether they want to go or not. Even if they
- 49:45Speaker 2: won't go, they take them and put them in the
- 49:47Speaker 2: shelter because it's too dangerous. You could die outside. Mom
- 49:51Speaker 2: Donnie made them stop doing that. And leave them on
- 49:55Speaker 2: the street, and nineteen homeless are dead after the first
- 50:01Speaker 2: ten were dead. You think he would have changed the policy,
- 50:04Speaker 2: but he didn't.
- 50:04Speaker 12: We are looking to make the outreach to each and
- 50:07Speaker 12: every person to let them know that there's a safe haven.
- 50:09Speaker 12: There's a shelter, there's a warming bus, there's a warming
- 50:12Speaker 12: center at a hospital, all of these different options. And
- 50:15Speaker 12: if we deem them to be a danger to themselves
- 50:17Speaker 12: or to others, then we do also bring them in.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but he hasn't been doing it, and he hasn't
- 50:22Speaker 2: forced them in, and he's killed a lot of homeless people.
- 50:26Speaker 2: But that's the way these left wing kooks work. That's
- 50:28Speaker 2: the way these socialists work. They tell you what the
- 50:30Speaker 2: goal is, they put in a policy that achieves the
- 50:33Speaker 2: exact opposite of the goal, and they never see it.
- 50:36Speaker 2: They never changed, they never blink. They don't know how
- 50:38Speaker 2: to bob and weave and change their policy. Like his
- 50:41Speaker 2: whole thing when he was running was concerned for the homeless.
- 50:44Speaker 2: He's now killed more homeless people than any other mayor
- 50:48Speaker 2: in the history of New York and he just keeps
- 50:50Speaker 2: going with the same stupid policy. Hey, if you love
- 50:53Speaker 2: Johnny Carson, don't go away. There's a new book out.
- 50:56Speaker 2: It's the best book ever. On Johnny Carson. We'll talk
- 50:58Speaker 2: to the author a little later. Hey, we'll take some calls. Next.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten. Is
- 51:06Speaker 2: the number eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Give woor a bre said on the iHeart radio app
- 51:14Speaker 1: to hear Marx Simone and all the WOR hosts in
- 51:18Speaker 1: an instance, go back to the Marximo show on WOOR.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Well, let's take some calls. Oh, let's go to this.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Vincent from Brooklyn is calling. I heard he was mad
- 51:29Speaker 2: at me. Well, let's see Vincent from Brooklyn. How are
- 51:34Speaker 2: you doing?
- 51:35Speaker 19: I'm doing fine?
- 51:36Speaker 2: Wire you mad at me? Did I do something wrong?
- 51:38Speaker 2: Did I say something wrong?
- 51:39Speaker 17: No?
- 51:40Speaker 19: Maybe sometimes we disagree on minus sayings that would That's
- 51:46Speaker 19: about the extent of it.
- 51:47Speaker 2: But you're sure I didn't say anything to offend you.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Come on what I say? No, I can't, no, No.
- 51:57Speaker 2: What I would like to talk about is.
- 52:01Speaker 19: Apparently two illegals were working in a Target store. I
- 52:06Speaker 19: believe it was in Minnesota or in California, and I
- 52:11Speaker 19: sweating there. They were illegally hired by the Target corporation,
- 52:17Speaker 19: and I sweating there and arrested these two individuals. Well,
- 52:22Speaker 19: lo and behold here in Brooklyn. Yesterday the stupid nose,
- 52:26Speaker 19: purple head, nose ring, fat women held a protest at
- 52:32Speaker 19: the Target store downtown Brooklyn and they were sitting in
- 52:36Speaker 19: the aisles and they were just screaming, crush ey s
- 52:39Speaker 19: ice out of Target, and this, that and the other. Well,
- 52:44Speaker 19: I hope Tom Holman comes to my neighborhood because, as
- 52:49Speaker 19: I told my girlfriend last night, I could easily get
- 52:53Speaker 19: him one hundred illegals a day because all of these
- 52:58Speaker 19: construction site it's the small ones, not the big ones
- 53:02Speaker 19: where their union where they pay workmen's cop or compensation.
- 53:08Speaker 19: All of these small ones they're not paying these guys.
- 53:12Speaker 19: They're not paying workmen's compensation. They're paying these people under
- 53:16Speaker 19: the table. And I see them every day. Some of
- 53:18Speaker 19: these I've even seen women work these jobs where I
- 53:22Speaker 19: don't know why you would want to because talk about
- 53:25Speaker 19: ruining your skin, ruining your hair, ruining your nails from
- 53:30Speaker 19: the concrete and everything else. But that vincent.
- 53:33Speaker 2: You would not date a woman with a nose ring
- 53:36Speaker 2: or purple hair.
- 53:36Speaker 19: No, No, absolutely, absolutely not. That's not my style, And
- 53:41Speaker 19: I agree with what Ann Coult said the other day
- 53:46Speaker 19: that most of these women in Minneapolis a little on
- 53:52Speaker 19: the roton side, and they look like male professional bowlers
- 53:57Speaker 19: for the most part at the time of the hour.
- 54:00Speaker 19: I heard that as I predicted last December when everybody
- 54:06Speaker 19: was saying, Oh, they're gonna go for the debt penalty
- 54:10Speaker 19: for Luigia BENZIONI, what did I say last year? I said,
- 54:14Speaker 19: he's not going to get the dead penalty. And these
- 54:17Speaker 19: two who these lawyers that he's using, they're absolutely phenomenal,
- 54:20Speaker 19: aren't they like a husband and wife team.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Yeah, they're pretty good.
- 54:24Speaker 19: But yeah, they got that phone off the table in
- 54:27Speaker 19: New York. And now when it goes to the federal
- 54:31Speaker 19: case to get to get a trolled off, they can
- 54:33Speaker 19: get a troll out too, because they're going to use
- 54:36Speaker 19: this to springboard into that. Now. Somebody asked me the
- 54:42Speaker 19: other day, Uh, what would be a death penalty case?
- 54:46Speaker 19: How would they give this kid the death penalty? He'd
- 54:49Speaker 19: have to be a paid assassin or some sadistic killer,
- 54:55Speaker 19: which years ago I knew. Uh, I knew a guy
- 55:00Speaker 19: who after he robbed you, he just killed you for fun.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Well, Vincent I'm glad you're back, and you're sure you're
- 55:09Speaker 2: not mad nothing I said, no, no, I apologize whatever
- 55:13Speaker 2: it might have been.
- 55:14Speaker 19: Well, I appreciate that very much, and I'm not a
- 55:18Speaker 19: person for the most part. I'm not a person wolves grudges.
- 55:22Speaker 2: All Right, Well, Vincent, we're glad you're back. Thanks for calling.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Talk to you soon. Let's go to Gideon in Greenwich. Gideon,
- 55:28Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 55:30Speaker 22: Hey, Mark good and thanks to you. I read Love
- 55:33Speaker 22: Johnny Carson. What a great book for Gotten Sake?
- 55:36Speaker 2: Yeah, the best book there on Late Night on Johnny Carson.
- 55:40Speaker 2: We'll talk to the author.
- 55:41Speaker 22: Absolutely, you're quoted throughout it, of course. But my favorite quote,
- 55:46Speaker 22: simone quote in this book was you said, when you're
- 55:48Speaker 22: a kid, you're watching Johnny Carson, he taught you how
- 55:50Speaker 22: to conduct yourself, how to be an adult, how to
- 55:53Speaker 22: have a personality, how to relate to people. And it's true,
- 55:56Speaker 22: it was a little it was an instructional process for
- 56:00Speaker 22: all of us watching him.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, And what I was saying was, you know,
- 56:03Speaker 2: when you're a kid and you're watching Leave It to
- 56:04Speaker 2: Beaver and there's Ward Cleaver. You don't want to be
- 56:07Speaker 2: like that guy who the hell wants to be him,
- 56:09Speaker 2: But then you see Johnny Carson. That's the kind of
- 56:11Speaker 2: adult I want to be. Yes, yes, all right, Well,
- 56:15Speaker 2: thanks for calling. It's a great book. We'll talk to
- 56:18Speaker 2: the author next. Now, I was like the Johnny Carson
- 56:23Speaker 2: expert of the world. I knew everything there is about
- 56:25Speaker 2: Johnny Carson. But then I start listening to his podcasts
- 56:30Speaker 2: Mark Malkoff and read the book. I learned fifty thousand
- 56:33Speaker 2: things I never knew. This guy has uncovered everything about
- 56:37Speaker 2: Johnny Carson. He does the Carson Podcast. There's six hundred
- 56:41Speaker 2: episodes with everybody that has ever involved with the Tonight
- 56:44Speaker 2: you you guys should listen to that podcast, but also
- 56:47Speaker 2: you should get the book. We'll talk to the author next.
- 56:50Speaker 2: It's called Love Johnny Carson, the new book. We'll talk
- 56:52Speaker 2: to the author next on seven to ten WR you're.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Listening to the Mark Simone Show.
- 57:00Speaker 2: W Well, hey, there's a book you have to get.
- 57:05Speaker 2: It's the definitive best book ever written about Johnny Carson.
- 57:11Speaker 2: It's called Love Johnny Carson. Just get this book, trust me,
- 57:15Speaker 2: you love it. The book's called Love Johnny Carson. It's
- 57:18Speaker 2: by Mark Malkoff, who for the past few years has
- 57:22Speaker 2: been doing the Carson Podcast, and he's had six hundred guests,
- 57:26Speaker 2: everybody that was ever on the Tonight Show, everybody they
- 57:28Speaker 2: ever worked at the Tonight Show. It's rivening. I've listened
- 57:32Speaker 2: to every episode, each one two or three times. But
- 57:34Speaker 2: get the new book called Love Johnny Carson. The author
- 57:38Speaker 2: is well us right now, Mark Malcoff, how you doing.
- 57:41Speaker 23: Mark, I'm doing great. Nice to talk to you, sir.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Hey. Now here's the problem. You have a lot of
- 57:48Speaker 2: TV people today, talk show hosts, but they're just kind
- 57:50Speaker 2: of there. You don't have giants anymore. Back then, you
- 57:53Speaker 2: have these giant, legendary TV figures. You will never see
- 57:57Speaker 2: another Johnny Carson, will we?
- 58:00Speaker 23: I think so?
- 58:00Speaker 20: I mean everyone in the nation at eleven thirty would
- 58:03Speaker 20: tune in for his take on the day. I mean
- 58:07Speaker 20: it's been said that, you know, he really wasn't political
- 58:11Speaker 20: because he didn't want to take side and alienate half
- 58:13Speaker 20: his audience. He wanted to do an entertainment show, and
- 58:15Speaker 20: everybody passed through that show.
- 58:19Speaker 2: Yeah, now that's a good point. The reason you waited
- 58:20Speaker 2: for that monologue, you wanted to get a funny take
- 58:23Speaker 2: on the politicians, the president, whatever, happened that day. But
- 58:28Speaker 2: today's world, you hear forty seven talk radio shows and
- 58:31Speaker 2: twelve cable news shows. So you've by the time it's
- 58:33Speaker 2: eleven thirty, you've had eighty seven thousand takes on everything.
- 58:37Speaker 2: What's the lady wants to do?
- 58:39Speaker 23: It's really different.
- 58:40Speaker 20: He liked to not really take He didn't really want
- 58:43Speaker 20: to take sides. But I will tell you something.
- 58:45Speaker 23: George W.
- 58:46Speaker 20: Herbert Walker Bush when he was president, it was a secret.
- 58:49Speaker 20: He was all set to go on the show in
- 58:51Speaker 20: nineteen ninety two and announced that he was going to
- 58:53Speaker 20: present the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Carson, and Carson
- 58:58Speaker 20: secretly told one of his writers that he was playing
- 58:59Speaker 20: in voting for Bush. But the Rodney king ryots happened,
- 59:03Speaker 20: and President Bush Herbert Walker didn't think it was appropriate.
- 59:06Speaker 20: But a few months later, after Johnny retired, he did
- 59:09Speaker 20: go to the White House and slept over with Bush
- 59:12Speaker 20: and his son Corey actually played guitar in the Oval
- 59:15Speaker 20: office for Bush.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Yeah, there were a lot of presidents.
- 59:20Speaker 10: He was.
- 59:20Speaker 2: He was part of the Reagan inauguration, wasn't he didn't
- 59:23Speaker 2: he perform there for that?
- 59:25Speaker 23: Yeah?
- 59:26Speaker 20: That was actually produced by Frank Sinatra. And whatever Sinatra
- 59:28Speaker 20: asked off Carson, Carson said yes, and Nancy Reagan. The
- 59:33Speaker 20: Reagans loved Johnny, but Nancy Reagan did call up twice
- 59:37Speaker 20: Johnny that she wasn't happy with some jokes, but overall
- 59:40Speaker 20: they laughed.
- 59:41Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 59:42Speaker 2: But getting back to the point of bigness, the Tonight
- 59:45Speaker 2: show was so big with Carson. You know, sometimes you're
- 59:47Speaker 2: in a comedy club and they'll introduce a guy. They'll say,
- 59:48Speaker 2: he's been on with Jimmy Fallon fourteen times, he's been
- 59:52Speaker 2: on with Kimmel's seventeen times, and you still never heard
- 59:54Speaker 2: of this guy. But in the old days of Carson,
- 59:57Speaker 2: he could make a star overnight. It was a major
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: It is true.
- 1:00:02Speaker 23: It was the dreams.
- 1:00:03Speaker 20: I mean there was unknown Freddy Prince goes on the show,
- 1:00:06Speaker 20: He's twenty years old. Within six months he has the
- 1:00:08Speaker 20: number one to come in America. I talked to everybody,
- 1:00:11Speaker 20: from Drew Carrey to Louis Anderson.
- 1:00:14Speaker 23: And this was their dream. I mean they had some
- 1:00:16Speaker 23: of them.
- 1:00:16Speaker 20: Had tears in their eyes telling me this story about
- 1:00:19Speaker 20: what Johnny meant to them the country. Not only that,
- 1:00:22Speaker 20: but the young comedians in between commercials and after the
- 1:00:26Speaker 20: show Johnny sometimes would get them punch ups on their
- 1:00:28Speaker 20: materials to improve their jokes into a young comic that
- 1:00:32Speaker 20: is like Santa Claus. I mean that you can't ask
- 1:00:34Speaker 20: for a gift better than that.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a big feature of the Tonight Show
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: seeing the latest, newest, best comics. Where did that stop?
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: I guess it was Leno that stopped doing that on
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: the Tonight Show.
- 1:00:45Speaker 20: Yeah, James noticed that the ratings were going down when
- 1:00:48Speaker 20: they had committe stand ups, so they really stopped doing it.
- 1:00:52Speaker 20: It's I really feel like with David Letterman on CBS,
- 1:00:55Speaker 20: the Great Romano was the big person that got famous
- 1:00:58Speaker 20: through that.
- 1:00:59Speaker 23: But yeah, it's a shame that nothing like that exists.
- 1:01:03Speaker 20: I really do miss Johnny Carson being in New York
- 1:01:07Speaker 20: doing the Tonight Show.
- 1:01:08Speaker 23: I mean, he loved the city.
- 1:01:09Speaker 20: He'd be in Grand Central Station playing tennis with may
- 1:01:12Speaker 20: Or Lindsay, He'd be in the Bronx having lunch with
- 1:01:15Speaker 20: George C.
- 1:01:15Speaker 23: Scott because they were friends and New York was dear
- 1:01:18Speaker 23: to him.
- 1:01:19Speaker 20: And I'm obsessed with finding footage because we both know
- 1:01:22Speaker 20: most of it was erased and Carson was furious.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Yeah, the New York heres the first ten years of
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: the Tonight Show. I thought that was the best period
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: because you're right, he was in Chilli's, he was in
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: the Copa Cabana. He was all over New York. Once
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: he got to California, he'd go home and that'd be it.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: He'd sit by his pool or play tennis. It wasn't
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: the same car.
- 1:01:40Speaker 20: Yeah, New York was just I mean, he had this
- 1:01:43Speaker 20: green Cadillac and he had a driver and on Sixth
- 1:01:46Speaker 20: Avenue he'd be waiting after the show, and around nine
- 1:01:48Speaker 20: o'clock he'd come down and get into his cattleact and
- 1:01:51Speaker 20: go back to the un Plaza or go to Danny's hideaway,
- 1:01:54Speaker 20: or meet Sinatra or Buddy Rich.
- 1:01:57Speaker 23: He had a really.
- 1:01:58Speaker 20: Amazing like one time as Green cat As his driver
- 1:02:01Speaker 20: had an umbrella because it was raining over his head.
- 1:02:04Speaker 20: Carson watched his Green Catalog be stolen by somebody and
- 1:02:07Speaker 20: they're driving.
- 1:02:08Speaker 23: The guy's driving down Sixth Avenue and Carson.
- 1:02:11Speaker 20: Is in disbelief. This guy just stole his car. So yeah,
- 1:02:14Speaker 20: that was a low point for Carson, but he loved
- 1:02:16Speaker 20: the city. He actually when he moved to California, he
- 1:02:19Speaker 20: bought an apartment at the in the Pierre hotel.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, people, man, I realized the nineteen late nineteen
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: sixties New York was a dangerous place, even the seventies.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: So it was worse than today. The movie Death Wish
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: that was New York.
- 1:02:32Speaker 23: Yeah, it was a tough place.
- 1:02:34Speaker 20: I mean, Johnny would have loved to have walked to work,
- 1:02:37Speaker 20: but he definitely would be a target just being famous
- 1:02:40Speaker 20: in money. So we both know Mark occasionally he would
- 1:02:43Speaker 20: put on a disguise and walk around the city. He
- 1:02:45Speaker 20: said he would feel ridiculous, but the costume people at
- 1:02:50Speaker 20: NBC gave him this so he could go out with
- 1:02:53Speaker 20: his sons.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Wow, so we're talking of this before. When I was
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: a kid, he w like leave it to Beaver, and
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: there was the father Ward Cleaver, and you didn't want
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: to be anything like that guy. That's not what you
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: wanted to be in life. But then you see as
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: a little kid, you'd see Johnny Carson's that's the kind
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: of adult. I'd like to be that kind of personality.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: That so he probably inspired a lot of people, didn't he.
- 1:03:17Speaker 20: I think he absolutely did. I mean, especially you know
- 1:03:21Speaker 20: during the New York days. I mean he was pitching
- 1:03:23Speaker 20: to Mickey Mannle and Roger Marris at Yankee Stady. I
- 1:03:26Speaker 20: mean he was jumping out of an airplane, playing with
- 1:03:28Speaker 20: the jets at polo grounds.
- 1:03:30Speaker 23: I mean it was really fun.
- 1:03:32Speaker 20: And then you know he was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
- 1:03:35Speaker 20: with Parnelli Jones, going hundreds of miles an hour. But
- 1:03:39Speaker 20: there was just something cool about him. I mean his dress.
- 1:03:42Speaker 20: I mean, he made so much money. People all across America,
- 1:03:45Speaker 20: young men would save up their money to buy a
- 1:03:48Speaker 20: Johnny Carson suit. He made the turtlenecks popular. They were
- 1:03:52Speaker 20: selling out all over the place because of Carson.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, like James Bond would come in and
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: he'd have one great line, funny line, one line. But
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: then you watch Carson. He could keep that up for
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: an hour and a half. He'd interview a guest and
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: have fifty funny lines.
- 1:04:06Speaker 20: So he had this ability where his brain there was
- 1:04:11Speaker 20: this joke file, and he would admit that a lot
- 1:04:13Speaker 20: of those ad libs were things he had used in
- 1:04:15Speaker 20: the past or had heard, but there was just nobody
- 1:04:18Speaker 20: that was quicker than Johnny Carson. I mean the jack
- 1:04:23Speaker 20: influence with the pauses when he would have animals on
- 1:04:25Speaker 20: was something else.
- 1:04:26Speaker 23: He was absolutely brilliant.
- 1:04:28Speaker 20: You have the marsupial on his head relieving itself, and
- 1:04:30Speaker 20: Carson's look into the spider going up to his arm.
- 1:04:34Speaker 20: I mean, the guy could do anything.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: So here's the big question. Now, that tonight show was enormous.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: You'd be a star overnight if you're in there. Letterman
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: was really a big show, and the late night shows
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: today are nothing like that. And you got to think
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: at some point they're going to disappear because network audiences
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: are getting smaller, budgets are getting smaller. Are we going
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: to see the end of late night TV at some
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: point in the next couple of years.
- 1:04:59Speaker 20: It really that way, unfortunately. I mean they took away
- 1:05:02Speaker 20: Seth Meyers, ban col Beart is going off in May.
- 1:05:07Speaker 23: It's tough.
- 1:05:08Speaker 20: Johnny had eight writers at the most, sometimes only four writers,
- 1:05:11Speaker 20: and all these shows have, you know.
- 1:05:14Speaker 23: Twenty plus writers that they've banned.
- 1:05:16Speaker 20: So I think if the shows do continue or come back,
- 1:05:18Speaker 20: they're just going to be really scaled down. I don't
- 1:05:21Speaker 20: think we're ever going to see an amazing doc Severance
- 1:05:24Speaker 20: in twenty Piece Orchestra ever again, which is a shame.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and like I said with Talk Radio, with
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Cable News, by the time it's eleven thirty, you've probably
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: seen fourteen talk shows already that day, so you really don't.
- 1:05:37Speaker 20: It's really true. I mean, it's where we are. Yeah,
- 1:05:42Speaker 20: it's it's something that I didn't foresee happening. But it's
- 1:05:45Speaker 20: just network television.
- 1:05:47Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: In a while back when they took Jimmy Kimmel off
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: here for about a week and during that week they
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: ran game show reruns and it got triple the ratings.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: And I'm sure it costs nothing to run the reruns.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: So when Colbert goes off, I assume it's not going
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: to be another late night show.
- 1:06:03Speaker 23: Yeah, it's hard to say.
- 1:06:04Speaker 20: Byron Alan the mogul, maybe a billionaire, has been buy
- 1:06:09Speaker 20: an ad time to the twelve thirty slot and doing
- 1:06:13Speaker 20: his own comedy show comics on leash. So I mean,
- 1:06:16Speaker 20: I could see Byron Allens being he's such an amazing
- 1:06:19Speaker 20: businessman taking that slot and just buying it from CBS.
- 1:06:23Speaker 20: But we'll see what happens.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, everybody get this book. It's the greatest book
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: ever written on Late Night on Johnny Carson. It's called
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: Love Johnny Carson. Just trust me, you'll thank me. Go
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: order it right now. Love Johnny Carson. You can get
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: it at Amazon. Mark Malkoff is the author, And you're
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: doing a book tour, right, You're all over the country
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: talking about it.
- 1:06:42Speaker 23: Yeah.
- 1:06:43Speaker 20: I got to go to Johnny's hometown of Norfolk. I
- 1:06:45Speaker 20: thought it's called nor Fork, nor Folk. They said it's
- 1:06:49Speaker 20: North Fork. But I got to go. Being Johnny's boyhood home.
- 1:06:52Speaker 20: They asked me to autograph the wall next to this
- 1:06:55Speaker 20: Smothers Brothers and Paul Riser and all these people like
- 1:06:58Speaker 20: Dick have it. It was an honor to be there
- 1:07:00Speaker 20: and talk to people and sign books. I did something
- 1:07:02Speaker 20: in Chicago at the Broadcast Museum of Communications, and I'm
- 1:07:06Speaker 20: gonna be doing more events in New York, so stay tuned.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's know, we'll promote him. So when
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: you do all these events, all these audience, what do
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: they ask you the most about Carson?
- 1:07:16Speaker 20: Just people just ask me what he was like off camera,
- 1:07:19Speaker 20: And the people that I talked to his best friends
- 1:07:22Speaker 20: consistently would say he was almost the same Johnny on
- 1:07:24Speaker 20: and off camera, which was shocking because the media would
- 1:07:27Speaker 20: make him out to be cold in a loop, and
- 1:07:28Speaker 20: his friends constantly would say he was not like he
- 1:07:31Speaker 20: was very shy and reserved when people didn't know him.
- 1:07:33Speaker 20: But if not, if he knew you, he was the
- 1:07:36Speaker 20: same Johnny. And constantly people when they come up to me,
- 1:07:40Speaker 20: just tell me how much they missed the man.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Yeah, no, he was the same Johnny. But and he
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: explained this once. When he goes to work, he would
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: get kind of cold on the loof because you're there
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: to work. It's not a party. You're not there to
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: have fun on the air.
- 1:07:51Speaker 20: You're right, he would. Yeah, he would save his energy.
- 1:07:54Speaker 20: That was a big thing with him. He wouldn't get
- 1:07:55Speaker 20: to the studio until he been working all day, but
- 1:07:58Speaker 20: he would conserve his energy. So really, look like it's tense,
- 1:08:02Speaker 20: and I think he might have liked it a little
- 1:08:04Speaker 20: bit tense everyone. He wanted everyone to be excellent and
- 1:08:07Speaker 20: really be on on notice and put everything into it.
