The Jennibel, a 19th-century schooner lost in a storm off Chambers Island, has been officially added to the National Register of Historic Places—making it the first shipwreck in Lake Michigan to receive such recognition. Still upright and remarkably preserved over 100 feet underwater, the wreck offers archaeologists a rare, intact view of a historic lumber trade vessel.
