- Lucas: And we're back. That's right, we are back for another tiny chunk of Danish with Fexingo. Luna: And I'm so ready. Last episode we grabbed cinema tickets, and I'm still buzzing about that popcorn scene. Lucas: Popcorn is always a win. But today we're switching gears completely. We are going to the airport. Luna: Oh nice. I love airports. The anticipation, the little shops, the gates. Lucas: Exactly. And we're going to focus on the very first thing you do when you arrive: check-in. Luna: Check-in. That's a good one. So what's the key phrase? Lucas: The most useful one is: Jeg vil gerne tjekke ind. Luna: Jeg vil gerne tjekke ind. That's a mouthful. Lucas: It just means 'I would like to check in.' Let's break it down a little. Jeg vil gerne is like 'I would like to.' Luna: Jeg vil gerne. Lucas: And tjekke ind is 'check in.' So together: Jeg vil gerne tjekke ind. Luna: Jeg vil gerne tjekke ind. Lucas: Perfect. You're already sounding like a seasoned traveler. Luna: So if I walk up to the desk, I just say that and they'll know what I want? Lucas: Absolutely. Then the agent will probably ask to see your passport. They might say: Må jeg se dit pas? Luna: Må jeg se dit pas? That's 'May I see your passport?' Lucas: Exactly. And you respond by handing it over and saying: Her er mit pas. Luna: Her er mit pas. Here is my passport. I like how simple that is. Lucas: Simple and effective. Let's practice the whole exchange. You're at the check-in desk, and I'm the agent. Luna: Okay, here we go. Jeg vil gerne tjekke ind. Lucas: Må jeg se dit pas? Luna: Her er mit pas. Lucas: Perfect. You're in. Now the agent might also ask about your destination. They might ask: Hvor flyver du til? Luna: Hvor flyver du til? That's 'Where are you flying to?' Lucas: Right. And you can answer with: Jeg flyver til København. Luna: Jeg flyver til København. I'm flying to Copenhagen. That's my answer. Lucas: And you can substitute any city. Jeg flyver til London, Jeg flyver til Rom. Luna: So the pattern is really easy. Jeg flyver til, plus the place. Lucas: Exactly. Let's run through all five phrases one more time, nice and slow. Lucas: Jeg vil gerne tjekke ind. Luna: Jeg vil gerne tjekke ind. Lucas: Må jeg se dit pas? Luna: Må jeg se dit pas? Lucas: Her er mit pas. Luna: Her er mit pas. Lucas: Hvor flyver du til? Luna: Hvor flyver du til? Lucas: Jeg flyver til København. Luna: Jeg flyver til København. Lucas: You've got them all. If you practice those, you'll feel so much more confident at the airport. Luna: Totally. And you know, one thing I love about this show is that we keep it ad-free. That's such a gift. Lucas: Yeah, we really believe in that. If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Danish, and you want to support the ad-free thing, there's a link: buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: It's a simple way to keep the episodes coming, and we appreciate anyone who does. Lucas: For sure. But back to the airport. So after you've checked in, you'll probably head to security. But that's a story for another day. Luna: For now, I'm just happy knowing my passport phrase. Her er mit pas. Lucas: And you'll nail it every time. That's all for today's episode. Practice these phrases, and we'll catch you next time. Luna: See you soon.
