- 1:28Speaker 1: it does, Tom. We are real excited today we're talking
- 1:33Speaker 1: about two You've literally sneezed in your intro.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yes, that was it. Why it's that you think? I
- 1:38Speaker 2: think the case is about a sneeze. But it still
- 1:40Speaker 2: seemed lazy to me.
- 1:43Speaker 1: That seems offensive. How about you do my case and
- 1:45Speaker 1: you go do your case. I'm at Judge Ross.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Ye, dude, what justice? What about it? Judge Ross's courtroom.
- 1:55Speaker 3: There's something about it that just seems like I've known
- 1:58Speaker 3: it for years, you know what I mean, Like, it
- 2:00Speaker 3: doesn't seem new, it doesn't seem different.
- 2:03Speaker 2: No, not foreign at all. It's not a foreign right,
- 2:05Speaker 2: you said it, it's not foreign.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I think part of what what what comes with that
- 2:09Speaker 1: is the the chance, the opportunity to overstand, to overstand it.
- 2:13Speaker 1: And I think that you do that, you do, and
- 2:15Speaker 1: I think the folks here in this case they're going
- 2:18Speaker 1: to walk away overstanding.
- 2:19Speaker 2: So plans, concepts of plans, all of it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I want to introduce it to Juliet Meyer. She is
- 2:25Speaker 1: suing Tony Tony Cage for.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And fifty audible. What do you think Tony Cage does? Magician?
- 2:34Speaker 1: Ooh not bad, Tony Cage. They're in the jingle industry.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Juliette's Tony writes the jingles. Yes, okay, so does Juliet
- 2:42Speaker 1: Juliette fell in love with jingles at a young age.
- 2:44Speaker 3: That's how she starts off this case. And dude, your
- 2:48Speaker 3: your starting line in my starting line?
- 2:50Speaker 2: Are going to compete? Okay, okay, go ahead. What was
- 2:53Speaker 2: I fell in love with jingles at a young thought?
- 2:55Speaker 2: That's a great one. That might be mine.
- 2:57Speaker 1: She started working at a jingle company three years ago.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It's their dream job, dream jobs for a long time.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And she's good, She's real good. She moves into a
- 3:08Speaker 1: manager position quite quick.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Did she do anything that we would have heard of?
- 3:12Speaker 1: She does?
- 3:12Speaker 3: You know what?
- 3:13Speaker 2: Ross doesn't ask? So how good is she? I don't know.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Tony is also in a manager position at the company.
- 3:20Speaker 1: They're both managers. They're both jinglers. They jingle around and
- 3:23Speaker 1: all that jingle, the jingle all the way. And at
- 3:26Speaker 1: some point the two of them were both up for
- 3:29Speaker 1: the same promotion within the company. And how do they
- 3:35Speaker 1: decide who is going to get this promotion. How do
- 3:39Speaker 1: they handle this situation at the jingle company? Is a jingle,
- 3:42Speaker 1: A jingle takes all competition. Whoever writes the best jingle
- 3:48Speaker 1: for this client, whoever the client goes for, you get
- 3:52Speaker 1: the promotions. And I think that's fair. I think that's
- 3:55Speaker 1: the best. If you don't win, you're out. That's not
- 4:00Speaker 1: losers lose back to their desk. As a jingle, another day, jingle,
- 4:04Speaker 1: another day. You're still gonna jingle, but less money, less money.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Tony says that Juliet has always been a threat as
- 4:14Speaker 1: always im sorry, has always a threat, has always seen
- 4:17Speaker 1: me as a threat.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Uh.
- 4:18Speaker 1: She says, he's very competitive. Ross is like, are you
- 4:22Speaker 1: not competitive? She says, I'm allergic to perfume. Okay, well, okay,
- 4:27Speaker 1: is great to know. Ross responds in the way I
- 4:30Speaker 1: think we all would at that answer by saying, what
- 4:33Speaker 1: does that have to do with any with anything that
- 4:35Speaker 1: we were talking about, And she says, well, I'll tell you.
- 4:39Speaker 1: On the day of the presentation of the jingle off
- 4:45Speaker 1: he put perfume on. And Ross is like, are you
- 4:47Speaker 1: saying are.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You saying sabotage?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Are you saying that he put on perfume or cologne,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and she's like, he did put on perfume. It's not Colonne,
- 4:57Speaker 1: it's perfume. She says, it's one hundred percent perfume. Does
- 5:00Speaker 1: she know, I don't know. She's allergic to both. It
- 5:03Speaker 1: doesn't really matter, but she is so allergic that the
- 5:05Speaker 1: company even put in a place it's it's a deodorant
- 5:08Speaker 1: only office. You can't perfume. You can't Colonne. They're trying
- 5:12Speaker 1: to They're trying to respect.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Uh that hurt?
- 5:16Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently, Well it is a pretty big deal. So
- 5:19Speaker 1: it's today of the competition, and she finds it weird.
- 5:22Speaker 1: He comes into her office and says good luck and
- 5:26Speaker 1: then gives.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Her a hug. Does he normally give her up?
- 5:31Speaker 1: He never gives hugs, So she finds it weird that
- 5:36Speaker 1: on the day of the competition, not only did he
- 5:41Speaker 1: greet me with a hug, but I could tell immediately
- 5:44Speaker 1: that he had perfume on.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I got it. What does he say to her? He says, I.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Did not have perfume on. He says, I've ripped cop
- 5:53Speaker 1: to the hug. Yeah he hugged her. Yeah, he says,
- 5:56Speaker 1: nor listen. I I've been racking my brain about what
- 6:01Speaker 1: this could have possibly been. And on that day before
- 6:06Speaker 1: the jingle off, I did go out to lunch with
- 6:10Speaker 1: my girlfriend who works close by, and my girlfriend does
- 6:15Speaker 1: wear perfume. It's possible, O Connor, that's in hugging her goodbye,
- 6:22Speaker 1: some perfume rubbed off onto me. And then when I
- 6:26Speaker 1: hugged my competition. I think that's the part that's not
- 6:29Speaker 1: really like all of this. I'm willing to give him
- 6:33Speaker 1: a little bit of the benefit of the doubt, aside
- 6:34Speaker 1: from the fact that he hugged her, which is not normal.
- 6:38Speaker 1: It's not normal, it's not normal. But he says, that's
- 6:41Speaker 1: the only possible. I did not put on perfume or
- 6:44Speaker 1: cologne on this day. I knew the rules of the office,
- 6:46Speaker 1: Juliet says, getting ready. It's only a few minutes before
- 6:51Speaker 1: the jingle off, and I begin to cough, I begin
- 6:54Speaker 1: to sneeze, I begin to have a reaction to this,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and I had to go to urgent care. Had to
- 7:01Speaker 1: go to urgent care. And that is what the payment
- 7:03Speaker 1: is for, of one and fifty dollars. Judge Ross then
- 7:07Speaker 1: asks the question, we're all wondering who got the promotion. Yeah, Tony,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Tony got the promotion Tony Cage. Tony Cage got the promotion,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and Judge Ross is very rule.
- 7:21Speaker 2: This is fascinating. It's a fascinating case.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Yes, the hug, I'm gonna give her the money, and
- 7:26Speaker 3: I'm gonna give her the money because the hug is weird.
- 7:29Speaker 3: It's weird to do that right before competition, especially since
- 7:33Speaker 3: you know there was a company wide email about the
- 7:38Speaker 3: about deodorant only facilities. It's a do only, the only,
- 7:42Speaker 3: the only, the only.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I just yeah, I can't. Tony Cage isn't above board
- 7:49Speaker 2: and nobody's taking his promotion away. Give her the money.
- 7:52Speaker 1: H Judge Ross says, listen, if you came in here
- 7:56Speaker 1: and you had proof that he put on on perfume
- 8:01Speaker 1: right before hugging you, that'd be one thing.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Oh boy.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So while the hug is suspicious, I agree the hug suspicious. Yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you didn't provide proof that it was malicious, but.
- 8:11Speaker 2: You don't have to. He's going through a whole thing.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Ross tells you, it's in civil court. You don't have
- 8:15Speaker 2: to have proof this case. He did. That's stupid.
- 8:19Speaker 1: The proof is listen, the hugs suspicious but not malicious.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Suspicious but not malicious, exactly right, that he just hugged
- 8:26Speaker 1: her right before the thing. I don't think he was dismissed.
- 8:30Speaker 1: That's ridiculous. That's ridiculous. Ross didn't overstand anything. Okay, where
- 8:35Speaker 1: were you with it? You were on Tony cage the
- 8:39Speaker 1: huggers side.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I'm not on his side. It sounds like you're on
- 8:42Speaker 2: side of justice.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And I think the I think that the the gabol's
- 8:48Speaker 1: gonna fall in favor of the defendant here.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I don't think that she has shown enough.
- 8:54Speaker 1: One one hug, albeit weird, awkward, out of place, doesn't
- 9:01Speaker 1: prove that he was he had it out for you.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I just don't think it does. I don't think it
- 9:05Speaker 1: shows it. Hugs aren't illegal.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I just don't understand why she would take him to
- 9:10Speaker 2: court for what? What is this? How much money? One hundred
- 9:12Speaker 2: and fifty dollars? I just don't know.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think also, clearly this jingle company does not have
- 9:17Speaker 1: insurans and that stuff.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that's stuff you would think they would cut.
- 9:21Speaker 1: That's work workers camp too, Yeah, like you think, but
- 9:24Speaker 1: but no Dice unfortunately. Yeah, I understand. Like listen, Tony
- 9:28Speaker 1: cage By, it's a weird story for sure. I don't know,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you know, maybe he was. He was you know, he
- 9:34Speaker 1: had lunch with his girlfriend, was feeling inspired and was
- 9:38Speaker 1: really like in earnest trying to say, like the best
- 9:41Speaker 1: of luck bringing it. Maybe he felt that it was
- 9:44Speaker 1: a thing that he could do because you know, it's
- 9:46Speaker 1: not a normal day. It's not a normal day. It's
- 9:48Speaker 1: a it's a jingle off instead of.
- 9:51Speaker 2: The old day.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Such a jingle off day. Sometimes that uh, sometimes that
- 9:55Speaker 1: gets the best of you. I don't know, matter's dismissed.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Whatever. Let's go over to Judge math.
- 9:59Speaker 3: It's his court room where I find myself more than
- 10:01Speaker 3: any other courtroom.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Uh.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Jeff Crispal is suing former friend Joe Jones for thirty
- 10:11Speaker 3: two hundred dollars.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Crispal in the Jones, Crispal and the Jones. That's just
- 10:16Speaker 2: how it goes.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Jeff starts the case by saying, your honor, I'm a
- 10:20Speaker 3: great barbecue lover. Now what he means is is he's
- 10:25Speaker 3: a he really loves barbecue. It's a very weird way
- 10:30Speaker 3: to say that. You could say love. I love barbecue.
- 10:33Speaker 3: It's like it's my favorite thing. I'm a great barbecue
- 10:36Speaker 3: I'm a great barbecue lover. I'd say that the love
- 10:38Speaker 3: of barbecue for me is great. You would say I'm
- 10:41Speaker 3: a great bar I'm an awesome barbecue lover. I would say, yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 3: you're You're top, You're in an upper echelon of barbecue lover.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it. Yeah, I don't do it myself.
- 10:50Speaker 2: You don't, Barbara, I'm not a great barb love to
- 10:52Speaker 2: eat the barbie. I am a great barbecue lover. Barbecue lover,
- 10:55Speaker 2: of course. Yeah. Yeah, if you want a barbecue love.
- 10:58Speaker 2: It was there. I didn't know what to do with it.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, that's fine, that's what it is, Okay, Jeff's like,
- 11:03Speaker 3: I found this restaurant right outside of San Diego, where
- 11:07Speaker 3: I'm from, and I went in and immediately knew this
- 11:11Speaker 3: was the spot. This barbecue was unlike anything I'd ever tasted,
- 11:15Speaker 3: and I enjoyed it, and I met the owner. Joe
- 11:18Speaker 3: here is the owner, and over the course of several
- 11:20Speaker 3: years we became dear friends.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I would drive out to I love a friendship rooted
- 11:26Speaker 1: in Barbara.
- 11:26Speaker 3: That's right, you know, it's the best kind. And he said,
- 11:28Speaker 3: I would drive out to Sante California, outside of San Diego,
- 11:32Speaker 3: and we really started to become more of a business. Win.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Actually, I was doing a memorial service for my late wife.
- 11:38Speaker 2: About is that funny? Honk, not funny. It's not rest
- 11:46Speaker 2: in peace, Honk, It's not funny. I just you clearly
- 11:51Speaker 2: thought it was funny. Okay, it is funny.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I found it funny the way that the sentence was structured.
- 11:58Speaker 2: He's a great he's a great lover.
- 12:00Speaker 1: And it became more of a business when if you
- 12:02Speaker 1: want to, when after a memorial that I was speaking
- 12:06Speaker 1: up for my wife, I just didn't see it coming
- 12:09Speaker 1: as all.
- 12:09Speaker 3: So he had a memorial for his late wife. Are
- 12:13Speaker 3: you gonna make it?
- 12:14Speaker 2: Yeah? A great woman.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Obviously it was for seventy five people, and he had
- 12:23Speaker 3: it catered, and he was like, Joe, can you cater
- 12:26Speaker 3: this memorial service?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Get together fellowship for my late wife?
- 12:31Speaker 3: Fellowship and Joe came over and he provided all the
- 12:34Speaker 3: food and he crushed it. Everybody was talking and we
- 12:39Speaker 3: became and Jeff Jeff Jeff Christ because Jeff's a big
- 12:44Speaker 3: he's a big barbecue.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Barbecue that's try uh barbecue, great of the best.
- 12:49Speaker 3: They became friends and at that point Joe was trying
- 12:53Speaker 3: to launch a smoker. He had built and a recipe
- 12:56Speaker 3: book trying to launch a smoker. We'll get there, okay,
- 13:00Speaker 3: you sort of. And he wanted to do this recipe
- 13:05Speaker 3: book and promote the book and really like make some
- 13:07Speaker 3: money that way. And I was like, this is an
- 13:08Speaker 3: o brain. It's the best barbecue I ever tasted. So,
- 13:11Speaker 3: you know, before we get to the loan, math Is like,
- 13:14Speaker 3: let me hear from you. So Joe comes on in
- 13:19Speaker 3: hot He's like, your honor, my name is doctor Chef
- 13:21Speaker 3: Joe Jones. I don't is he a doctor. No, there's not,
- 13:27Speaker 3: not by any actual measurable sense. Is her doctor. He's
- 13:31Speaker 3: doctor Chef Joe Jones. And he says, your honor, I'd
- 13:35Speaker 3: like to take you for a barbecue ride for a moment.
- 13:39Speaker 3: It all started in the woods of Mississippi outside of Jackson.
- 13:43Speaker 2: At a young age.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I was always fascinated with my grandfather and my mom
- 13:47Speaker 3: is cooking, and I wanted to be a master smoker
- 13:49Speaker 3: since the age of seven, and I became one. Mathis
- 13:53Speaker 3: does a full bit about being a master smoker.
- 13:55Speaker 2: He laughs with the bailiff.
- 13:57Speaker 3: He explains to doctor Chef Joe Jones that now that
- 13:59Speaker 3: means smoking crack. I didn't know that, but I found
- 14:03Speaker 3: it out. Yeah, Matthews was full crack smoking.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Very fun. Yeah, that's right, very fun.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Doctor Chef Joe Jones continues, I have a new grill
- 14:12Speaker 3: called the JB seven thousand. It's the unbelievable. It's the
- 14:16Speaker 3: best grill smoker. Now, I will say this, I don't
- 14:20Speaker 3: know Joe B Barbecue. I looked up Joe Jones JB
- 14:26Speaker 3: seven thousand, and I found a Facebook page which had
- 14:29Speaker 3: not been touched for ten years. And on the Facebook
- 14:33Speaker 3: page it says introducing the JB seven thousand in all caps.
- 14:37Speaker 3: There is no picture that is the entire status. There
- 14:40Speaker 3: are four like wow, So did you like it? I didn't,
- 14:43Speaker 3: but I was I did. I did like finding it.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I thought it was interesting, but I did not.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Like it JB seven thousand.
- 14:49Speaker 2: That's right. He's like, it's unbelievable.
- 14:51Speaker 3: People always ask me where I learned to cook, and
- 14:52Speaker 3: this smoker like that I built.
- 14:55Speaker 2: He did his own, That's what he said. He said,
- 14:58Speaker 2: My grandfather taught me. Growing up.
- 15:01Speaker 3: My grandfather didn't have any refrigerators. He had to smoke
- 15:03Speaker 3: all your meat. It's an art, he's like, and I've
- 15:06Speaker 3: mastered the art. I can smoke a brisket, and every
- 15:08Speaker 3: time I smoke, it'll come out of a thousand out
- 15:10Speaker 3: of a thousand times, it'll come out exactly how suppose.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Which is crazy, just crazy to think of it. Yeah,
- 15:15Speaker 2: you know, I don't think what about that?
- 15:16Speaker 3: But yeah, he's like, Mats is like, okay, great, and
- 15:21Speaker 3: he's like, and I've brought some cards and promotional material
- 15:24Speaker 3: and two bottles of barbecue sauce for you. It's an
- 15:26Speaker 3: old family recipe. Okay, Joe Jones clearly trying to get
- 15:30Speaker 3: his name out there. Uh, Mats is like, thank you
- 15:33Speaker 3: very much. I'll take it.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Awesome, Jeff says, your honor.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I love this man. He's a great person, and I
- 15:39Speaker 3: felt like I could work with him. We came to
- 15:41Speaker 3: a personal agreement. He asked for a loan for thirty
- 15:44Speaker 3: two hundred dollars. Matthis says, did you write down anything?
- 15:47Speaker 3: He said, no, I did not, as a personal loan.
- 15:50Speaker 3: He said, how much is he paid back? He's paid
- 15:52Speaker 3: zero back. He's given me the run around. I never
- 15:54Speaker 3: get a straight story. I'm a little unsure about the business.
- 15:58Speaker 3: He keeps telling me he's developing a new product. I've
- 16:00Speaker 3: not heard anything about the recipe book A good doctor.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Yeah, out here, it's just not paying money.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Doctor chef Joe Jones. Matthis says, sir, what's going on?
- 16:10Speaker 3: He goes, you're on I've run into a few snacks.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I was on the Food Channel at one time. Mathis goes,
- 16:15Speaker 3: all right, we get it, you're promoting things. Let's get
- 16:17Speaker 3: to the loan. Please stop. He goes, I did borrow
- 16:19Speaker 3: the money, but I called him up and explained to
- 16:23Speaker 3: him I'd run into some issues and I asked if
- 16:25Speaker 3: he could give me some more time. Matthews says, is
- 16:27Speaker 3: that true. Jess says, yes, it is true. I did
- 16:29Speaker 3: tell him he could have some more time. He says,
- 16:31Speaker 3: did you give him any specifics on the time? He goes, Nope,
- 16:35Speaker 3: I didn't. Jeff plays a voicemail that he has from
- 16:40Speaker 3: Joe that says, Hey, I just want to let you
- 16:43Speaker 3: know a few things going through. I did get this contract.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna have your money on the eighteenth. Mathis goes,
- 16:49Speaker 3: eighteenth to what month? We don't know. Jeff doesn't know,
- 16:53Speaker 3: doesn't know, nobody knows. He doesn't know what day the
- 16:56Speaker 3: voicemail came in, which is wild. You think it's stamped
- 17:00Speaker 3: I have Chris Paul offering. He's like he's trying not
- 17:02Speaker 3: to win the case. Math is ready to rule that
- 17:05Speaker 3: much money thirty two hundred. Yeah, he'll get the thirty
- 17:08Speaker 3: two hundred. He owes the money. And I think it's
- 17:12Speaker 3: if he came in here and was like, I didn't

- 17:53Speaker 1: that's unfortunate.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Thirty two hundred was probably the needle. That was the
- 17:58Speaker 2: needle that broke the haystacks. That's how that works.
