- 0:00SpaceX is preparing for one of the most intense flights of
- 0:05human spaceflight. Ever down at Starbase Texas
- 0:07SpaceX has a fully stacked Starship.
- 0:10Booster 7 and ship 24 on the Launchpad and they're shaping up
- 0:15to do a wet dress rehearsal sometime in the near future.
- 0:18So they do the ground systems, they elope propellant into the
- 0:22thing. They check all the pipes, they
- 0:24check all the cables, check all the electronics, check, all the
- 0:27systems in between the ground and the Rocket and also the
- 0:31communication systems, all of that gets checked during this
- 0:34wet dress rehearsal. And there's another thing that's
- 0:37really close by to the fully stack, Starship.
- 0:40Ship 25 is on ped, be right now, right?
- 0:44Next to the fully stacked Starship, ship 25.
- 0:48It's odd pad B. It's really close.
- 0:50And if they do a wet dress rehearsal, and if something were
- 0:53to happen to the booster or to ship 24, ship, 25 could be in
- 0:59danger. So are they going to be moving
- 1:01ship 25 possibly back to the Bay at some point tomorrow?
- 1:06So road closures happen at Starbase when they're going to
- 1:09do some sort of testing or moving something from one site
- 1:13to the next say it's about a mile and a half distance between
- 1:16the production site in the launch site so you get there in
- 1:19a couple minutes but if you're 150-foot tall rocket like ship
- 1:2425, it's going to take a little while.
- 1:27So on Monday, January twenty third, twenty twenty-three. 3 8
- 1:30a.m. to 8 p.m. there's a road closure and on Tuesday, January
- 1:3324th and 2023. There's another route closure
- 1:36schedule. So something may be happening
- 1:38and one of those things could be a wet dress rehearsal of the
- 1:42rocket. It also, there could be the
- 1:45movement of ship 25 before the wet dress rehearsal starts.
- 1:49So the main move ship 25 out of that pad off.
- 1:53Head be it back to the bay and they removed it from the bay
- 1:57because they needed to put another Starship in the In the
- 2:00bay to dismantle it. So ship 25.
- 2:04It has the Raptor engines on it, it's pretty close to a static
- 2:07fire, it has to do some testing for cryogenic testing, and
- 2:11pressure, testing and things like that.
- 2:13In order for it to do a static fire, the, the the fact that
- 2:16it's so close to this ship to this fully stacked, start ship,
- 2:20that's ready for a wet dress rehearsal.
- 2:22It's dangerous. So I believe they're going to be
- 2:24moving ship, 25 away from there and then they're going to be
- 2:28moving towards The full wet dress, rehearsal of a fully
- 2:33stacked. Starship, has it been done with
- 2:36this one yet in? This is crazy.
- 2:39Cool. Crazy, crazy, cool.
- 2:41Because this shows that SpaceX is almost ready for the flight
- 2:46of ship 24. And booster 7.
- 2:48Now, what do they have to do for this wet dresser?
- 2:50So, basically, everything except for launch the vehicle, they
- 2:52have to put propellant in it. If the test the ground systems
- 2:56and all the ground systems means every line that fuel The booster
- 3:01in the ship and also the towers are going to be testing the
- 3:04tower as well. All the tanking all the D
- 3:06tanking, they're testing all of that before the actual launch.
- 3:10So, what's going to happen? After the wet dress rehearsal,
- 3:14we're going to kind of jump around here a little bit.
- 3:15They're going to be moving ship, 24 off the top of booster 7.
- 3:21And if anything were to happen during this wet dress rehearsal,
- 3:24they're going to have to move either the ship or the booster
- 3:27back to one of those Bay's in. In order to fix it, you know,
- 3:31during the wet dress, rehearsal of the SLS, we've seen it
- 3:35numerous times, they had to move the ship from the launch site,
- 3:39back to the high Bay, you know, there are there thousand
- 3:44breaking points between the ground area, the ground systems
- 3:49in the ship, and I'm just going to be realistic with you here.
- 3:51Because I love the idea that this goes perfect, the first
- 3:55time and I, we have to think logically here.
- 3:58There are so many Failure points in between the ground systems in
- 4:03the ship. They're continuing testing shows
- 4:06that this is almost ready to launch, right?
- 4:09And if anything goes wrong with the booster, anything goes wrong
- 4:11with a ship, they have to dismantle it.
- 4:14And they have to take the booster or the ship back to the
- 4:17bay and say is this worth fixing or should we move on to another
- 4:22booster and to another ship your ship. 25 is right there.
- 4:26You know, and the next boosters ready, it's all All ready to go.
- 4:30I mean they have the the Raptor twos on the booster right now
- 4:34and if something were to happen it it's like we can't really do
- 4:37anything with this booster anymore.
- 4:38We realized this isn't going to be the one they can stand down.
- 4:42They don't have to launch this. There's no there's no law saying
- 4:45SpaceX has to launch. This booster, they could even
- 4:49though we don't want it to, they could take this booster and move
- 4:52it back to the bay and say, hey yeah, this is a catastrophic
- 4:55failure. We have to move on from this.
- 4:58But if everything goes well, think about that, if everything
- 5:01goes, well SpaceX will soon be launching the Starship for the
- 5:06first orbital flight test. They have to remove the ship
- 5:09ship 24 before they do that and they're going to do a static
- 5:12fire of the booster now, there's other things in the path of the
- 5:16flight that may get in the way. And these are kind of
- 5:21speculation at this point, but I want to tell you about them
- 5:23because it's not happening for this flight.
- 5:26It may happen for flight to In that they're building a deluge
- 5:30system down there. The Deluge system is basically
- 5:33sound suppression for the rocket because this is a, even though
- 5:38it's out the middle of nowhere, the booster is the most powerful
- 5:42rocket that's ever been built and the blast from this rocket
- 5:47could shatter Windows could hurt people.
- 5:51You know could hurt things, you know, material things Vehicles,
- 5:56Etc, miles and miles away. And the suppression system.
- 6:00The Deluge system could mitigate that to some point, right?
- 6:06And they're moving these tanks from from Florida, over to Boca
- 6:10Chica right now. The Rada barge right now and the
- 6:12moving them over to Boca Chica where starbases and those tanks
- 6:17will be hopefully partially, possibly all of them could be
- 6:23for a deluge system that shoots water under the booster.
- 6:28As it ignites in all of the force, it's going down creates
- 6:33energy, which ripples the are basically and shoot sound
- 6:39everywhere, but the water shoots towards that sound all around it
- 6:43and kind of mitigates those those those vibrations
- 6:48basically. And also they have to think
- 6:50about the orbital launch Mount, it's going to vibrate like crazy
- 6:54in. This water is going to stop it
- 6:57from vibrating. Because if they don't stop this
- 7:00thing from vibrating from those 33 engines, the something
- 7:03catastrophic could go wrong with the ground systems and if
- 7:07something goes wrong with the ground systems, that's hard to
- 7:09replace building a rocket. Even though it's one of the most
- 7:13incredible Feats that humans can do building a gigantic rocket.
- 7:17Like this is insanely difficult, the ground systems can't be
- 7:21replaced as quickly as a rocket. So think about that for a
- 7:25second. Would they launch this rocket?
- 7:28Knowing that there could be some damage from these 33 boosters
- 7:33and set them back. Six months to repair this
- 7:37orbital launch Mount or would they just bring in some water?
- 7:42I mean, what's the logical? What's the logical explanation
- 7:46in your head where they just go? Okay, let's just whatever this
- 7:49fly it or would they go, you know, this is a really important
- 7:52Mission because in a couple of years NASA is going to depend on
- 7:58this rocket and they're going to depend on this system, including
- 8:02the orbital launch Mountain at all.
- 8:04The electronics, all the pipes, everything on the ground, that's
- 8:08built to blast this rocket into orbit.
- 8:11And to the Moon, NASA and people are depending on this to work
- 8:16perfectly every single time and of Space X were to get this
- 8:20Deluge system in place. In the next few weeks, they
- 8:22could possibly test it a few times before.
- 8:26Or what edelen says late, February, sometime in March, for
- 8:31the launch of the Starship. So there is a silver lining
- 8:34here, you know, even though it may stop the launch from
- 8:38happening in the meantime, you know, in the time that we're
- 8:41here right now, for the next few weeks, we do want to see a
- 8:44launch, of course, like as soon as possible, I think I'll be
- 8:46amazing, but also do it, right? You know, I don't think Elon is
- 8:51ever done anything. That's sort of half-hearted, you
- 8:54know, like if you're going to do it, do it right?
- 8:55And In Shotwell is, in charge of this stuff now.
- 8:58So Gwynne Shotwell in charge of Starbase in charge of Starship.
- 9:03So there's no reason why they wouldn't.
- 9:05Just hold off a little bit and do it properly.
- 9:08And here's one of the things that I want to show you as well,
- 9:11and for anybody that's listening right now, there's a TFR in
- 9:14place for January, 23rd in January 24th in the TFR is the
- 9:18really important part, because this is a no-fly zone no-fly
- 9:23zone around Starbase. So basically, anything up to
- 9:2714,000 feet from the surface up to 14,000 feet and this means
- 9:35that they are thinking about things that could go wrong.
- 9:39So if you load propellant into this gigantic rocket, the most
- 9:44Propel has ever been loaded into any rocket ever, basically, the
- 9:47biggest rocket ever needs the most fuel ever.
- 9:50And anything goes wrong. If there's any sort of ignition,
- 9:53that's not supposed to happen. They need to make sure that
- 9:58people are safe planes that are flying overhead or safe people,
- 10:02you know, plays. It are flying near, it are safe
- 10:04because there's a there's a keep out Zone around it as well, not
- 10:07just up, so anything that's 30,000 feet up, you know, that's
- 10:10should be fine but, you know, low-flying aircraft up to 14,000
- 10:14feet, you know, those those would be damaged.
- 10:16So anything around there is cut off from the rest of, you know,
- 10:22from from the whole area down there.
- 10:25So you can't fly. Over it.
- 10:27So that was an important one in SpaceX just recently on Twitter,
- 10:31it was January 12th, I believe January 12.
- 10:33They said teams are stepping into a series of tests prior to
- 10:38Starships. First flight test in the weeks
- 10:39ahead including full stack, wet dress rehearsals and hold down
- 10:43firing of booster. Sevens 33 Raptors so they are
- 10:48ready for this in the weeks ahead full stack wet dress,
- 10:52rehearsals So this could be numerous wet dress rehearsals
- 10:58and hold down firing of booster 733 Raptor.
- 11:02It could they be doing a few wet dress rehearsals just to make
- 11:05sure that everything is okay, series of tests prior to
- 11:09Starships, first flight, test in the weeks ahead.
- 11:12So they think SpaceX actually put this out on their Twitter
- 11:15test prior to start his first flight tests in the weeks ahead.
- 11:20Could they meet a few weeks or could they mean 8 to 12?
- 11:2412. 16 20 weeks, that's weeks ahead.
- 11:29Also, we got to remember, like, I was saying before, if there's
- 11:31a leak, if there's something that goes wrong during this wet
- 11:34dress rehearsal, something could stop them from doing this and
- 11:39they could take some time. They may even take a week maybe
- 11:41two weeks to fix a leak, and then they're going to have to do
- 11:45a whole series of tests again, to make sure that the leak is
- 11:48fixed. So they could do a small, small
- 11:51leak test. Instead of doing a full wet
- 11:53dress rehearsal. Do Ending on where this leak is
- 11:56and I'm just being pragmatic here.
- 11:59You know, I'm not I'm not here to be at somebody's Downer or
- 12:02anything like that. I'm here to to, you know, bring
- 12:05you up to speed with what's going on down there.
- 12:06But also, we have to be very logical about this because this
- 12:10is rocket science. And this is very dangerous and
- 12:15this could have consequences that could last for years.
- 12:19So you have to think about those things.
- 12:21If there's some sort of leak, if there's something, some Faulty.
- 12:24Something could be a pipe, could be a rivet, could be anything.
- 12:28It could be a wire could be electric.
- 12:30Could be anything SpaceX has to mitigate that for the launch.
- 12:34They have to stop that in its, you know, in the place and they
- 12:37have to fix it wherever it is, if it's a ground system, they
- 12:40fix it on the ground, if it's in the rocket or the or the
- 12:43booster, they take it back to the bay and fix it, or they
- 12:45could possibly fix it there in the pad depending on how major
- 12:49or minor the the damages to the thing.
- 12:52So, there's a possibility. We could see this thing happen
- 12:56really fast. If everything goes well,
- 12:59everything could go perfectly. Well, the first time around and
- 13:04nothing bad can happen in, they could just launch this thing in
- 13:06a few weeks, but I do believe it's going to take a little
- 13:09while. They see test in the weeks in
- 13:11the weeks ahead Fightin test prior to the Starships, first
- 13:14flight test in the weeks ahead. And that's kind of, I don't know
- 13:19if it's misleading, but I think it's optimistic, I really do
- 13:22think it's optimistic. Adding full stack wet dress,
- 13:25rehearsals numerous wet dress rehearsals and hold down
- 13:28fighting over after 733 Raptor or booster sevens Raptor
- 13:32engines. So I believe they got to be
- 13:35moving the ship out of the way ship 25 and I believe when they
- 13:39do the full 33 engine static fire.
- 13:44This got it. I think there's got to be a
- 13:47suppression system but please I hope they proved me wrong and I
- 13:51think the orbital launch Mount, if it can take, if it can,
- 13:56withstand the heat from those 33 Raptor engines and it doesn't
- 14:02melt things around the bottom of the, of the order lodgement.
- 14:07It's not going to it's probably not going to melt the mount
- 14:09itself, but the things around it, there was exposed
- 14:13Electronics. No, there's there's welded pipes
- 14:16on there which bring, you know, coolant from one place to
- 14:19another place. But there's also wiring, which
- 14:22we all know wiring is, you know, it's just wires with wrapped in
- 14:26plastic or Rubber and that could possibly melt, in ruin the whole
- 14:31area wherever he gets melted. So sound suppression system.
- 14:35The water Deluge system could that be in place within the next
- 14:38few days before the 33 Raptor engines, they could possibly
- 14:44wire it up. Up hook it up within the next
- 14:46week or two. If the barge gets over here in
- 14:48the next two days and if they do a wet dress rehearsal.
- 14:51So let's let's break it down like this.
- 14:53If they do a wet dress rehearsal on Monday or Tuesday, the not
- 14:57Marv was for Monday through Tuesday.
- 15:00So if they do that if they do the wet dress rehearsal Monday
- 15:04they take that data. They crunch down the data for a
- 15:07few days. And during that time, a barge
- 15:10comes in with all these tanks with a deluge, they could
- 15:13possibly set up a You'd system, they may even have the pipes
- 15:18ready to go, because we've seen them do a small Deluge system
- 15:22underneath the rocket before, and it's basically like a little
- 15:25sprinkler system, but maybe they just didn't have the water
- 15:28pressure for a real big W system.
- 15:30Maybe they didn't have anything hooked up to it.
- 15:32That could actually, you know, powerful enough to shoot the
- 15:35water to a big enough. Big enough area like a like a
- 15:39full 33 Raptor engine. Static fire.
- 15:42Could take. Hopefully SpaceX steps in and
- 15:46they do the right thing and they get some sort of sound
- 15:50suppression system, some sort of water Deluge system in there and
- 15:54they they protect themselves because they need to protect
- 15:57this orbital launch Mountain, they need to protect this rocket
- 16:01at all costs. So I want to say thank you for
