Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: Hey friend, I'm Mike McCurrey and this is Bible Trek Echoes, thank you so much for taking of your time and joining me right here today.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_02]: Had a friend reach out to me, not but a few days ago, and we were just talking reminiscing about some things and sharing some laughs and some counsel and he told me how much he appreciates the fact.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: that we continue to have Dr. Paul Levine, his old messages, on this radio broadcast that meant a lot to me.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_02]: Number one that he expressed that gratitude.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_02]: I've heard it said a kind thought unexpressed does nothing.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so to you, if you're listening, friend, thank you so much for saying that, but I've heard that from multiple individuals.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll tell you what, it does my heart good to hear Dr. Paul, the founder of this ministry.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: We talk about the fact,
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: that we stand on the shoulders of giants, but it's the truth.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: And we should act like we should give honor where it's due.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: And in that spirit today, in this week, we're going to hear a poignant a touching message preached by Dr. Paul.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_02]: Living, we'll talk more about this a little bit later on, but this message in particular was preached within about a year from when Dr. Paul stepped over in the glory.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: This message comes from 1995, and in it, he talks about the fact that just a few months less than a year earlier, Dr. Paul.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: He held his wife Dorothy as she slipped into eternity herself.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: 1994 she passed and this message in 1995, then Dr. Paul, he went to his reward in 1996.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: And so with that context in mind, I'd like you to think about.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: What this man, when I say old man, please understand the reverence with which I say it, a respect for the white hairs, the gray hairs, the fact that it was his vim and vigor, it was his vision, it was God's shining, his grace upon this man, this old man, if you will, some 85 years ago that caused the foundation of this very ministry Bible tracks incorporated
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: echoes.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm so thankful for the good heritage that we have.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: But I would have to guess that there are many under the sound of my voice right now for whom life is difficult.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: And so today, when Dr. Paul avoids from the past almost a 30 years ago now, when he talks about what his wife's death taught him, I think that may speak to some of you
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: here at the end of this year.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: And so, will you give an ear with you given audience to Dr. Paul Loving as he preaches this message from 1995, are you afraid to die?
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's so good to be here.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: You can't you can't believe how happy I am to be with you tonight.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm certainly enjoying the service that's far.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't hear all the things you were saying out there, heard some of them, but heard enough to you made my day.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a joy to be with you.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's always a joy to come here, and a joy to fellowship with all of you.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody be a mention to the radio broadcast.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're still on the air.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Every day, you WHO will double you.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: And we've been on air for since about 1957, we're still on at 10 and 45 in the morning, Monday, to Friday.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: So if you think of it, tune in.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it comes in this area.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: This WHO will double you come in here.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: It does, okay, 10 o'clock, 10.45 tomorrow morning.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Then I want to thank you for this suit you gave me the last time I was here.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: And it's coming good and handy and I appreciate it.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want to thank these young folks for the beautiful numbers that you're saying.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I am such a thrill and such a blessing to be with you here tonight.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: What you don't realize was the two passages tonight.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Why not me?
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: He bruised after two verses 14 and 15.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: Hebrews chapter two verses 14 and 15.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now all you're opening your Bible, let me say this.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: One thing I like about this church is that you get good Bible teaching here.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: You don't just get little sermonettes about politics and book reviews and so on.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: You get the Bible preached here.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: You get Bible doctrine preached here.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: If you were ever to check your Bible, you would see how important Bible doctrine is
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: the truth of the Scripture.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's so important, and there's a lot of compromise today in Christian circles with the truths of the Bible, and everybody's getting together now.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: We've got the great ecumenical spirit going all over the country, and everybody's getting together on the basis of love.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of this gets together, business, on the basis of love is what they're saying, we don't care what you believe, you don't care what I believe, just so we love each other.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's not exactly that way, you see when people fell asleep together and this ecumenical spirit, just on the basis of love, that is the sacrifice of the truth.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: And we want to be careful because this spirit is in the age right now and we have to be careful so that we don't get swept away in it, you can get caught up in it and that's one of
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: and the same God for your pastor who teaches the Bible, and remember that Bible doctrine and Bible truth is important.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: And if you study your new testimony to read it through carefully, you'll see how that is.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, you got to place now.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: In this passage of Scripture, the writer is saying that Jesus Christ went through death.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: that he might destroy him who has the power of death.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's the devil.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now the word destroy doesn't mean annihilate.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: It means that he's won the victory over the devil.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: And the devil is a defeated fool.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: You believe that?
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: See, that that was a defeated fool.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: We got some guys on television teaching something new now.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a new doctrine that we haven't heard until lately.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to tell us that when Jesus died on the cross, He did not die victoriously.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was defeated on the cross.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: And so then after he was defeated on the cross, he died, then his spirit went to hell.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: And in hell, he was tormented by the devil and the demons for three days and three nights, and then Jesus our Lord was born again.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they're teaching.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Say, that's what I mean.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: See, see, that's not the truth, is it?
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus, go to hell and get tormented by the devil and these were, they don't even know what they're talking about, the devil is not even in hell.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, see, and it could be more said about that.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: But that's what they're teaching.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now this verse says that Jesus went through death that he might destroy him and render the defeat him, who had the power of death, that is the devil, and do something wonderful.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: Boy, I like this.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: This is my age, I like it.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: And especially when I was young, I never thought much about heaven.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when you're young, you're never going to die.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: When you're young, you're never going to get Satan dying.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing that's going to happen to you.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I never talked about having very much.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Never preached about it either.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: But now it's young.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: I never preached about heaven.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: I always preached about the hell.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: And then when I arrived by one of these, I preached on hell all the time.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: I never did get around preaching about heaven.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Because I was young.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't think much about heaven.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: But boy, listen, when you see your wife, get the Alzheimer's.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: And the one time we were here, and we couldn't get her in the church, you don't know this, maybe.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: But at the weekend on her, she wouldn't go to come in.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: I had to send the pastor after her, and I know how he talked her into coming in.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: Her mind was going with the Alzheimer's, and she just going to come in here.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: She finally came in.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: And, uh,
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: But for about seven or eight years, we went through what you wouldn't believe.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: If I were to tell you some of the things we went through, you wouldn't believe it.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: Lefty is sitting on something like that and dear wife, what somebody you loved dearly, and then you see, and then in shirts, one son and night, they had to take her from the church.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: And that night when they took her from our church and took her to the hospital, I knew that she'd never be home again.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: That night, I didn't even address, I just went home and I walked to floor from the kitchen.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: to the dining room, front room, bedroom, turn around, walk from the bedroom, front room, and the dining room in the kitchen, and turn around, and I did that all night.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: All night, because I learned something, I'd learn what grief was, and I cried all night too.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it was awful.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: And then, uh,
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: One, when they told me she had to go to the nursing home.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't want her to go to the nursing home.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: And then after being in a nursing home for a 15 months, and I go to go to an nursing feeder every day and try to talk to her and all that.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then once she had to stroke, and I knew that the end was near.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then that morning at five o'clock in my arms, and my ear right on her lips.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to hear each breath, and each breath was further apart.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: and further apart and further apart and weaker and weaker and weaker.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: And once you took that last breath, I never heard it.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: You know what?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we're all this made me do.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe think about heaven.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I got to think about him.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: I got a lot of folks who didn't have my sweetheart there.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man, someday I'm going to be there and I'm going to see her too, see?
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: And you get to think about heaven when something like that happens to you.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: Now look what Jesus did.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: He went through death that he might destroy him that has the power of death and deliver them who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: and what a joy it is to hear from that man, Dr. Paul Levine, and throughout the remainder of this week, we're going to hear the continuation and the conclusion of this very message.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to appreciate and advance the fact that you're going to stick around and listen as we Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday right here on Bible Tract Echoes as we share this message from the past.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: But I'd ask your friend.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you're listening right now and you would say honestly that you are afraid to die.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: And Dr. Paul later on in this week, he's going to get a little bit more into the nitty grid.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to talk about the hope that we do have the hope that we have for life after death.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: But right now, I don't want to put this off because there's no guarantee that you or I will be here tomorrow or Wednesday or the end of this week.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: And so if you're listening right now
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: There are times I lay awake at night, unsure of where I would go.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to hear from you.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: Now, because of the influx of messages that come in sometimes, it may take me an hour or two or even more sometimes to get back to you, but I'd love for you for you to reach out to me personally.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_02]: You can text me at this number, I'll give it to you real slow twice, alright?
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: Grab out a note pad and a pen, maybe open up your phone right now, open up your notes or something, and type this down so that you can text me if you're afraid to die.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: If you're unsure of what's happening in the here after I'd love to hear from you, you can text me at 3-0-9-3-16-7-2-4-0.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: Now we've got about a minute and a half left.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: I want to give you that number one more time, but I'd like to encourage you.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: Don't let the end of this broadcast come and go without reaching out.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: If you're unsure there's no time like the present today is the day of salvation.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many things that the evil one that the wicked one would like to distract you with, to take your mind off of this.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: You can open up a social media and save the wound and just lose yourself in the mindlessness of the world's music and media.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: But friend, if right now you're struggling with your eternity, this book has the answers, and I'd love to share them with you not my opinion what God says.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: Text, we get 3, 0, 9, 3, 1, 6, 7, 2, 4, 0.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: Tomorrow on the Broadcast, we're going to continue to hear from Dr. Paul, but in addition to that, I'm going to get to tell you about an interview.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: I got to do recently, not an interview of me, me interviewing someone else.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: A 100 and 7-year-old woman, I'm excited about telling you about this encounter.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you've heard it before, but we should hear it again.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_02]: My prayer, as always, is that you have a great day for his glory, but if you're not sure about the
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: Reach out to me.
