- 0:04Speaker 1: on demand on the iHeartRadio f dum.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Ways to job, So many dumb ways to job, dum
- 0:16Speaker 2: jer so many downways.
- 0:20Speaker 1: John kf I AM six forty Bill Handle Here. It
- 0:26Speaker 1: is a Monday morning, January twenty sixth as we open
- 0:31Speaker 1: up the week and Neil and Heather and the rest
- 0:34Speaker 1: of the crowd are here. And when we talk about
- 0:37Speaker 1: the polarization of what's going on in the country, nothing
- 0:41Speaker 1: is a better example of that than what happened during
- 0:47Speaker 1: the weekend in the shooting of Alex Pretty, the ICU
- 0:52Speaker 1: nurse in Minneapolis, and the ICE and in general federal
- 0:58Speaker 1: authorities have been accused of overreacting and it's and really
- 1:02Speaker 1: costing the administration some points in terms of approval. Even
- 1:05Speaker 1: those people who are in favor of controlling illegal migration
- 1:11Speaker 1: and controlling the borders are saying this, this is way
- 1:14Speaker 1: too much. I mean, you'll see a single migrant illegal
- 1:18Speaker 1: or not, surrounded by twenty agents and we see them
- 1:23Speaker 1: breaking into how well, one breaking into a house picking
- 1:26Speaker 1: up one kid, and of course a story gets huge
- 1:31Speaker 1: news and this becomes okay, look at what they are
- 1:33Speaker 1: doing well. It's a question of this happened once, and
- 1:37Speaker 1: when you think about it, there really have been two
- 1:39Speaker 1: of these shootings. But look what happened, and look at
- 1:44Speaker 1: how the administration is dealing with it. That's the problem.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And the administration is basically prepared to outright lie to us,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but so blatantly, so obviously that you have to shake
- 1:58Speaker 1: your head and saying, what where's the credibility here? And
- 2:02Speaker 1: this had to do with Alex pretty who was at
- 2:04Speaker 1: a demonstration. He had a weapon on him. He had
- 2:08Speaker 1: a nine millimeter gun and a holster. He had two magazines,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and he had a permit to carry that weapon.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's an open carry state.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And so as he is videoing what's going on with
- 2:23Speaker 1: the police officer, I think they get into some kind
- 2:26Speaker 1: of altercation and down he goes. They go ahead and
- 2:32Speaker 1: at that point not even arresting him, they're pushing him
- 2:35Speaker 1: down a group of agents and now ten shots are fired.
- 2:40Speaker 1: And what the administration are saying, he came to massacre.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Agents never took the gun out of the holster.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Never.
- 2:50Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, you see one of the
- 2:53Speaker 1: agents walking away from the altercation with what appear to
- 3:00Speaker 1: be the same gun, a nine millimeter gun. As he
- 3:04Speaker 1: walks literally away from a ten shots rang out and
- 3:08Speaker 1: you have a pretty being shot and he was killed
- 3:10Speaker 1: right there on the spot. Christineam in a press conference
- 3:14Speaker 1: said he came there to slaughter the agents, and she
- 3:19Speaker 1: was asked over and over again did he brandish the gun?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Her answer, he was there to slaughter the agent. He
- 3:27Speaker 1: is a domestic terrorist. Okay, did he brandish his weapon.
- 3:33Speaker 1: He was there to slaughter the agents. You don't come
- 3:37Speaker 1: to a demonstration with a weapon. It is illegal. It
- 3:42Speaker 1: is not illegal. She just makes that up. And here's
- 3:46Speaker 1: what's going on, unfortunately with the administration, and I have
- 3:50Speaker 1: said that go out in the rain and have the
- 3:55Speaker 1: administration say the sun is out, and you have a
- 4:00Speaker 1: number of Republicans saying, yes, the sun is out as
- 4:04Speaker 1: they are drenched with water, but the sun is out
- 4:08Speaker 1: because I'm told the sun is out. He pulled out
- 4:11Speaker 1: his weapon. He was there to massacre.
- 4:13Speaker 3: He didn't know, he didn't. They made that up.
- 4:16Speaker 1: The other problem is is that what the administration is
- 4:24Speaker 1: saying is that these demonstrators, all of this is a
- 4:29Speaker 1: Democrat operation. The Democrats are doing this and law abiding
- 4:35Speaker 1: citizens are not. And basically, we are at war with
- 4:40Speaker 1: these demonstrators who are domestic terrorists, and that's what the
- 4:45Speaker 1: administration called Alex Preddy a domestic terrorists.
- 4:50Speaker 3: By the way, has he ever been accused of that?
- 4:51Speaker 2: No?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Was he on the radar screen of the FBI. No,
- 4:55Speaker 1: he's a nice to you nurse who was out there
- 4:58Speaker 1: and was demonstrating. I mean, he had a real problem.
- 5:01Speaker 1: What was going on?
- 5:02Speaker 3: Now?
- 5:03Speaker 1: Was he an idiot for carrying a weapon, an open gun,
- 5:07Speaker 1: I mean on a holster guy? Yeah, I mean I
- 5:10Speaker 1: would never do that, not with a craziness out there.
- 5:13Speaker 1: So Minnesota, Minnesota Attorney general called well accuse Trump and
- 5:20Speaker 1: the top officials of putting out a flat out insane
- 5:24Speaker 1: narrative regarding the shooting. And you had ICE Commander Gregory
- 5:31Speaker 1: Bovino straight out say he attacked the agents. You had
- 5:36Speaker 1: Christy Nomes straight out say he attacked the agents and
- 5:40Speaker 1: he was there in a massacre those agents, and they
- 5:43Speaker 1: shot Preddy in self defense, straight out. And most the
- 5:50Speaker 1: vast majority of Republicans in Congress are either not saying
- 5:54Speaker 1: anything or they're agreeing with the administration. Yes, he is
- 6:00Speaker 1: there a massacre agent agents. That was his motivation. Did
- 6:05Speaker 1: he post anything No, Did he say anything no? Did
- 6:11Speaker 1: he have a permit to carry the gun? Well, they
- 6:14Speaker 1: can't say no to that one. Did he brandish the weapon?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Not if you look at any of the dozens of
- 6:21Speaker 1: videotapes or the dozens of recordings that were made by spectators.
- 6:27Speaker 1: But once again, the sun is out, the sky is blue,
- 6:33Speaker 1: even though it is pouring rain. That's how crazy it
- 6:36Speaker 1: has become. Now back to what happened over the weekend,
- 6:40Speaker 1: and this was the shooting of Alex Preddy, which is
- 6:44Speaker 1: the second major shooting that happened in the last couple
- 6:48Speaker 1: of weeks. And it is well, as you know, the
- 6:53Speaker 1: controversy has not stopped. The demonstrations are going on throughout
- 6:56Speaker 1: the country. There is obviously a huge disconnect between what
- 7:01Speaker 1: the government is saying and what those who watched the
- 7:04Speaker 1: videos are seeing. We see a man who did not
- 7:09Speaker 1: brandish a gun. We see someone who looks like one
- 7:13Speaker 1: of the Ice agents is taking the gun away from
- 7:16Speaker 1: his holster that he had and then within a second
- 7:19Speaker 1: after that, ten shots rang out and he is killed.
- 7:22Speaker 1: And as we know, the government's position it was a
- 7:24Speaker 1: justified shooting and they were defending themselves because he was
- 7:29Speaker 1: a domestic terrorist, who is there to massacre the ICE agents?
- 7:33Speaker 1: I mean, just crazy stuff. And the investigation there is
- 7:37Speaker 1: no investigation. Both the White House and Department of Homeland
- 7:43Speaker 1: Security as well as Isis said outrights justified were done.
- 7:49Speaker 1: They were defending themselves against the terrorists. Okay, now here
- 7:53Speaker 1: is the problem is he had a gun permit. And
- 7:59Speaker 1: even I think it was Christinoams said that he should.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Not have been there. It was illegal.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Os Patel who said it was illegal for him to
- 8:11Speaker 1: be at that demonstration with a weapon. Wait a minute,
- 8:17Speaker 1: this was a man who had a license to carry
- 8:20Speaker 1: that weapon, didn't brand brandish, it just was walking around.
- 8:24Speaker 3: By the way, that is going to pan out.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I mean, there's no issue the administration, As the Attorney
- 8:28Speaker 1: General of Minnesota said, the administration is.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Insane, just insane.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I mean they're looking at this and pointing to somebody
- 8:35Speaker 1: else and pointing to a different time, a different place.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I mean, they're describing what happened in a way that's
- 8:41Speaker 1: simply untrue. But you've got the NRA, You've got gun
- 8:46Speaker 1: advocates who are saying, wait, we have always said that
- 8:51Speaker 1: if you have a permit to carry a gun, if
- 8:54Speaker 1: you are a legal, law abiding citizen, and even an
- 8:58Speaker 1: open carry state where you are allowed to have those guns,
- 9:02Speaker 1: you can't shut that down. You can't argue it is
- 9:05Speaker 1: illegal to carry a gun simply because an administration an
- 9:12Speaker 1: administration arrest program is going on. So you can't carry
- 9:19Speaker 1: a gun only when you are protesting the administration and
- 9:25Speaker 1: ICE attacks on people.
- 9:29Speaker 3: No, you can't do that.
- 9:31Speaker 1: You know, we have a second Amendment, and effectively, what
- 9:33Speaker 1: the administration is saying, people who are anti Ice, anti
- 9:38Speaker 1: government do not have a second Amendment.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Hey, let me tell you the NRA and gun advocates
- 9:43Speaker 1: are getting pretty pissed off about that. Even people who
- 9:46Speaker 1: are fanatically pro Trump and gun owners were I mean
- 9:50Speaker 1: by a fast overwhelming majority or pro Trump are pro Trump,
- 9:55Speaker 1: even them, even they are looking and saying, wait a minute,
- 9:59Speaker 1: this was an ICE operation. Granted, no problem the ICE agent.
- 10:02Speaker 1: They won't even say the ICE agents aren't legally doing
- 10:06Speaker 1: what they can. They will not argue because they're so
- 10:08Speaker 1: pro administration. They will not argue if ICE is overreacting.
- 10:13Speaker 1: They are not offended that twenty agents are going after
- 10:17Speaker 1: one illegal migrant, and they're just not offended by that.
- 10:21Speaker 3: They get it.
- 10:23Speaker 1: But saying that you can't carry a weapon in a
- 10:27Speaker 1: state that's open carry with a permit. Now you're treading
- 10:31Speaker 1: on our ground if you have a second Amendment, which
- 10:35Speaker 1: they rely on, and the government is saying you don't
- 10:39Speaker 1: have a right to that second amendment. If you in
- 10:42Speaker 1: any way oppose our move, well, let me tell you
- 10:46Speaker 1: there are some real problems going on there, and now
- 10:50Speaker 1: what's going to happen as a result of that, not much,
- 10:53Speaker 1: because what will end up happening is will there be
- 10:56Speaker 1: other shootings? Of course, these ICE agents aren't trained very well.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I think there's a thirty seven day training period basically
- 11:04Speaker 1: a month's we're five weeks worth of training as opposed
- 11:06Speaker 1: to six months that normal academies have. I don't think
- 11:12Speaker 1: they're going to argue with twenty people overwhelming one migrant.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to argue very much with
- 11:19Speaker 1: separating families. Where there was that issue of that five
- 11:22Speaker 1: year old, and that is legitimately in discussion. Were the
- 11:26Speaker 1: ICE agents protecting that five year old? Did his father run?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Did they knock on the door asking if anybody inside
- 11:34Speaker 1: would take care of the child? We really don't know
- 11:36Speaker 1: the answer to that, Okay, so I'm open to discussion
- 11:40Speaker 1: on this one. But the shooting of Alex pretty you
- 11:44Speaker 1: tell me how controversial that was. In terms of interpretation,
- 11:50Speaker 1: there is no controversy. We saw what we saw. And
- 11:53Speaker 1: then there's a great line that's being said over and
- 11:56Speaker 1: over again, who are.
- 11:57Speaker 3: You going to believe.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Your statements, what you say, or my lying eyes? And
- 12:07Speaker 1: that basically says it all. So what's going to happen
- 12:10Speaker 1: with the gun supporters and the administration? Not nothing, But
- 12:16Speaker 1: when you have an administration that loses its base, or
- 12:22Speaker 1: loses part of its base, or offends this part of
- 12:24Speaker 1: its base, I don't know. So let's say we have
- 12:28Speaker 1: the next Democrat who runs for office and is a
- 12:32Speaker 1: staunch supporter of gun rights and who said, if you
- 12:36Speaker 1: are an American and it doesn't matter if you're protesting
- 12:39Speaker 1: or not, if you are legally allowed to have a
- 12:43Speaker 1: gun and are exercising your Second Amendment rights, then I
- 12:48Speaker 1: should be elected, as opposed to the Republican who backed
- 12:53Speaker 1: up the administration in saying gun rights are only for
- 12:58Speaker 1: those people that are on the side of Ice. If
- 13:01Speaker 1: you're against Ice, you should not be able to have
- 13:04Speaker 1: a gun. Ooh, we think that's a problem with the
- 13:06Speaker 1: Second Amendment just a little bit, all right, Hey. Equal
- 13:10Speaker 1: time is a concept that's been around forever, and basically
- 13:15Speaker 1: what it says is, if you have a political candidate
- 13:18Speaker 1: on or make a political statement, equal time has to
- 13:21Speaker 1: be given to the other side equal time. If you
- 13:24Speaker 1: have someone on for five minutes, then five minutes has
- 13:27Speaker 1: to go to the other side. The rule still there,
- 13:30Speaker 1: It's just not used by anybody except now the FCC
- 13:36Speaker 1: chair Brendan Carr, has said, Okay, we're now going to
- 13:40Speaker 1: give equal time. And the issue is not talk radio,
- 13:45Speaker 1: where it's conservative for the most part. The issue is television,
- 13:50Speaker 1: where you have Jimmy Kimmel, we have Steve Colbert, and
- 13:53Speaker 1: all of a sudden, equal time should be given.
- 13:56Speaker 3: But here's the problem.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Let's say you have a candidate on or even make
- 14:02Speaker 1: a political statement, the other side has to be given
- 14:05Speaker 1: a chance.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I don't know if that means.
- 14:07Speaker 1: A monologue has to then be delivered on the Colbert
- 14:11Speaker 1: Show or the Jimmy Kibbles Show.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I don't know how that works. I do know when
- 14:16Speaker 3: it comes to candidates.
- 14:18Speaker 1: It used to be where when it was more enforced,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and I've been around a long time here in radio,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I would have a candidate on, and I have to
- 14:27Speaker 1: give equal time to the other side. Most of the
- 14:29Speaker 1: time they didn't bother, but it was here's the problem
- 14:33Speaker 1: with equal time. So you have a candidate on, Okay,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you have a Republican on, then you have a Democrat on,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and then you have particularly the run for governor. Here,
- 14:43Speaker 1: whenever there's an open seat for governor, thirty people show up.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Some crazy people show up who have filed. Do all
- 14:52Speaker 1: thirty of them get their five minutes?
- 14:56Speaker 3: Now?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Some I've put on because they were so much fun.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Remember that porno queen, whatever the hell.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Her name was.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And then we had who's that little guy Webster who
- 15:07Speaker 1: played Webster on TV?
- 15:10Speaker 4: I don't think I think you're getting your small black
- 15:13Speaker 4: people confused. You you're talking about from different strokes?
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no, the little the guy who was in.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Webster Manuel Lewis, I think it was.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I think it was a man.
- 15:25Speaker 1: You'll get the really small black guy who was fairly chunky.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I had him on Coleman, Jerry cole Maybe it
- 15:32Speaker 3: was Gary Coleman, right, I mean he was.
- 15:34Speaker 1: We had to put him on phone books to make
- 15:37Speaker 1: it up to the microphone and I had him on
- 15:41Speaker 1: and that was hugely entertaining, but it was only for
- 15:45Speaker 1: entertainment purposes. Now, legitimately, if you look at enforcing the
- 15:49Speaker 1: equal time rule, I would have had thirty people on
- 15:52Speaker 1: because it's that many people can.
- 15:54Speaker 4: I asked the obvious question here. Yeah, and I don't
- 15:57Speaker 4: know why people don't call out Trump and his administration
- 16:00Speaker 4: on this.
- 16:01Speaker 3: How is that not DEI oh, it's a good point.
- 16:08Speaker 4: And they did this with NPR as well, saying that
- 16:10Speaker 4: they had to have more convert conservative voices. How is
- 16:14Speaker 4: that not inclusion and equity and dicause.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Good way, I'll tell you why, because they don't look
- 16:22Speaker 1: at it that far, because it's pretty surface thinking.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I mean, because who's it nailed after?
- 16:30Speaker 1: It's after the liberal and late night is generally liberal
- 16:36Speaker 1: by the talk show host. Remember Jimmy Kimmel when he
- 16:38Speaker 1: made that statement about Charlie Kirk and it wasn't even
- 16:43Speaker 1: the Charlie Kirk advocates and the followers and those who
- 16:48Speaker 1: were Charlie Kirk fanatics, and the Trump administration went crazy
- 16:53Speaker 1: to the point where Carr, the FCC chairman, threatened, and
- 16:57Speaker 1: thank god, it's only a threat because there's a lot
- 16:58Speaker 1: of bomb bass that happened that comes out of the
- 17:00Speaker 1: administration threatened to yank the licenses of the stations that
- 17:07Speaker 1: carried ABC, and as a matter of fact, there's a
- 17:12Speaker 1: good chunk of the affiliate stations that did take him
- 17:15Speaker 1: all off because that statement about Charlie Kirk so offended
- 17:21Speaker 1: the administration, so offended those followers, and when you have
- 17:25Speaker 1: the FCC chair get into yanking licenses. Now, it didn't
- 17:30Speaker 1: go any place, but there were affiliates who said no.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I think Sinclair one of the biggest affiliates out there,
- 17:36Speaker 1: And if I'm not mistaken, I stand corrected, but I
- 17:39Speaker 1: think Sinclair was one of the major syndication groups ABC
- 17:43Speaker 1: only owns.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I think ABC owns five.
- 17:45Speaker 1: They still have the O and O owned and operated stations,
- 17:48Speaker 1: where the major networks were allowed five in the major cities,
- 17:51Speaker 1: five radio stations, five television stations. I know in radio
- 17:57Speaker 1: you can own as many as you want, but I thought,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I'm only I know, maybe they raise it to eight.
- 18:03Speaker 1: The point is is that syndicated programming that you hear
- 18:07Speaker 1: is on hundreds and hundreds of stations, all owned individually
- 18:10Speaker 1: or by station groups, not by the networks, and so
- 18:14Speaker 1: they are I tell you, they're real susceptible to the
- 18:20Speaker 1: pressure that the FCC can bring down them, and the
- 18:23Speaker 1: power is incredible. And car said, we're going to yank it,
- 18:27Speaker 1: So are we going to go back? Well, I'll tell
- 18:30Speaker 1: you what is going to happen is that if this rule,
- 18:34Speaker 1: if the egal time rule, will be enforced, it will
- 18:38Speaker 1: not be enforced on Fox. That I guarantee you not
- 18:43Speaker 1: enforced on Fox. Now, I does you know I look
- 18:49Speaker 1: at CNN. I look at Fox every day, and if
- 18:52Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken, CNN does give more time to the
- 18:55Speaker 1: opposite side than does Fox the way I see it,
- 18:59Speaker 1: And when there are panels, they always have some conservative,
- 19:04Speaker 1: not real conservative, but some conservative that the other panelists
- 19:08Speaker 1: rip into when it takes real balls to be a
- 19:11Speaker 1: conservative on a CNN panel. I don't watch Fox enough
- 19:15Speaker 1: to know if they do the same thing, because my
- 19:18Speaker 1: go to is CNN because I think of all of
- 19:21Speaker 1: the politically motivated networks and I'm talking about MSNBC that's
- 19:26Speaker 1: insanely left wing.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I don't even pay attention to what they do.
- 19:29Speaker 1: So I compare actually Fox and CNN, and I go
- 19:33Speaker 1: to CNN because I think it is less biased than Fox,
- 19:36Speaker 1: even though it is biased, and then also BBC BBC
- 19:42Speaker 1: tends to be fairly unbiased as well as the networks ABCNBC, CBS,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I think are unbiased and I don't think they would
- 19:52Speaker 1: have a problem with equal time rule. I do believe
- 19:55Speaker 1: that we well, we always make it available to the
- 19:58Speaker 1: other side if we have a politic candidate on we
- 20:01Speaker 1: at least I always have.
- 20:03Speaker 4: You know, many many times and often let them say no,
- 20:08Speaker 4: thank you, yeah, and they.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Do for the most part.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Occasionally we'll have someone who is on the opposite opposite side.
- 20:15Speaker 1: But you know, it got to the point where I
- 20:18Speaker 1: didn't think the equal time rule was there anymore. I
- 20:22Speaker 1: thought it had been suspended or eliminated because of the
- 20:26Speaker 1: lack of enforceability.
- 20:28Speaker 3: I guess not. Okay, Hey, here's what's going on.
- 20:35Speaker 1: I love this story, and that has to do with
- 20:37Speaker 1: the ballroom, where the East Wing of the White House
- 20:40Speaker 1: used to be. And this is where the Trump administration
- 20:46Speaker 1: is running into some issues. The ability for Trump to
- 20:50Speaker 1: tear down the East Wing and put up the ballroom.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Can the president do that? Yes, but there are two
- 20:59Speaker 1: committee that have to weigh in by law, and he's
- 21:05Speaker 1: ignored both of them.
- 21:08Speaker 3: And here's what he said.
- 21:09Speaker 1: There was a four hundred and fifty word post on
- 21:12Speaker 1: True Social My God talking about it, and he talked
- 21:15Speaker 1: about that the ballroom is a done deal.
- 21:20Speaker 3: That's it.
- 21:21Speaker 1: It's over. You can say what you want, doesn't matter
- 21:24Speaker 1: what the courts do. We're moving forward on this. All
- 21:28Speaker 1: of the structural seal windows, doors, ac heating equipment, marblestone,
- 21:33Speaker 1: pre cast concrete, bulletproof windows, glass, anti drone, roofing, and
- 21:37Speaker 1: much more is already in place. So therefore it's too late.
- 21:43Speaker 1: By the way, he wrote that in big block letters
- 21:48Speaker 1: in bold, it is too late. There is no practical, practical,
- 21:55Speaker 1: or reasonable way to go back. So there's two issues
- 21:59Speaker 1: with this. There's two parts of the demolition in and
- 22:04Speaker 1: the construction of the ballroom. One is above ground, one
- 22:08Speaker 1: is below ground. What the administration is saying is that
- 22:12Speaker 1: all of it is national security. The part below ground
- 22:15Speaker 1: is because that has to do with setting up a
- 22:20Speaker 1: war room, if you will, center a large situation room
- 22:25Speaker 1: where right now everything involved in bringing the president, members
- 22:31Speaker 1: of a cabinet, etc. Into a secure place in the
- 22:34Speaker 1: White House is really antiquated. And so they're building a
- 22:37Speaker 1: modern structure under the structure absolutely, national security, no question
- 22:42Speaker 1: about it.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Tax Payer dollars one. I don't think anybody's bitching about that.
- 22:47Speaker 1: But the ballroom above that, that's a little bit of
- 22:51Speaker 1: a different.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Issue, and it is, and it's a question of just
- 22:55Speaker 3: it looks horrible.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Truman put the Truman balcony on the White House in
- 23:01Speaker 1: nineteen fifty four. Teddy Roosevelt changed the facade. It's been
- 23:07Speaker 1: changed over and over, but hasn't been changed in seventy
- 23:10Speaker 1: five years. And we get used to We don't like changes,
- 23:13Speaker 1: especially in our national buildings. And I think the problem
- 23:18Speaker 1: is not so much that the president has a right
- 23:20Speaker 1: to do that, it's how the president is doing that.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I guarantee you once this ballroom is built, and it
- 23:27Speaker 1: will be built, nobody will ever accuse it of being
- 23:33Speaker 1: understated elegance. That is just not going to happen, not
- 23:38Speaker 1: in this day and age. And there are lawsuits flying.
- 23:42Speaker 1: And what's interesting is the president's position is that he
- 23:46Speaker 1: has the right to do it.
- 23:47Speaker 3: We're done.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Yet his lawyers are in court federal court, saying that, well,
- 23:55Speaker 1: we still have time to change it, and we want
- 23:59Speaker 1: the judge to review the project, or at least the
- 24:02Speaker 1: two federal advisory panels to review the project, but the
- 24:05Speaker 1: Prince is saying, no, I'm building it no matter come
- 24:08Speaker 1: hell or high water.
- 24:10Speaker 3: So that part is I think done. He's going to
- 24:14Speaker 3: build it, and.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Then the west wing he is also going to tear
- 24:18Speaker 1: apart because he wants the west wing to match the
- 24:21Speaker 1: East wing, and the east wing that building is bigger
- 24:25Speaker 1: than the footprint of the middle part of the entire
- 24:28Speaker 1: of the entire White House. So what you're going to
- 24:31Speaker 1: see is the white House as we know it, the
- 24:35Speaker 1: center part of the White House, and then you have
- 24:38Speaker 1: the porticos leading out to.
- 24:40Speaker 3: The various wings.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And you've seen that millions of times, presidents walking down
- 24:45Speaker 1: that portico with the columns from the residents in the
- 24:49Speaker 1: middle to the west wing where the office is. And
- 24:52Speaker 1: what you're going to see is a building as big
- 24:55Speaker 1: as the ballroom with this small middle part. And it's
- 25:02Speaker 1: certainly not going to look like the White House that
- 25:05Speaker 1: we as we know it, and the inside is going
- 25:09Speaker 1: to be changed, and every first family can do that.
- 25:14Speaker 1: It's changed certainly the residence part, and do they have
- 25:16Speaker 1: ability to change the rest of it?
- 25:18Speaker 3: Yeah, they do.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Jackie Kennedy restored a lot of it and what you're
- 25:24Speaker 1: going to see is I think a complete restoration of
- 25:30Speaker 1: the White House, if you want to call it a restoration,
- 25:32Speaker 1: and the White House will look like mar A Lago.
- 25:37Speaker 3: That's what we're going to have.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, lots of gold, lots of columns, I mean his office.
- 25:49Speaker 1: If you look at how many flags he has behind him,
- 25:51Speaker 1: and if you look at all the gold trim that
- 25:53Speaker 1: he's put up, Yeah, it basically looks like an Iranian whorehouse.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Okay? Has that offended anybody? Of course not? Why would
- 26:03Speaker 3: I do that? You've been listening to The Bill handle Show.
