- 0:00I think we've all heard the expression, it's not what you say, it's how you say it.
- 0:05Quite often, I think at one point in our lives, we have said something that
- 0:10we'd regret, said something so fast that we didn't think before we spoke.
- 0:16But there are so many times, at least in my life, just recently,
- 0:22where individuals who are in power or in charge of putting your family,
- 0:30your children in places where it is a very crucial decision for a parent,
- 0:36for a loved one to think about.
- 0:38And those people of power don't realize what they say to you can really affect
- 0:44A, your decision, and B, hurt you indirectly.
- 0:50Have faith, let it begin. Starts right now.
- 0:54Have faith, let begin. When it starts right now.
- 1:00Welcome to Have Faith. Let it begin. Here's your host, Angel Santana.
- 1:07Ariel, can you say, have faith? Let it begin. Let it begin? Let it begin. Say, have faith.
- 1:15Let it begin. Let it begin. No. No. No? Okay. Good boy. Hi, Noah. Noah! Noah!
- 1:24Happy birthday, Noah! Hey, then. I'm done with you. It is what does that mean?
- 1:32Noah. This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
- 1:37This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
- 1:41This little light of rain, I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine.
- 1:48Let it shine. Let it shine. Well, yeah.
- 1:54Daddy, I'm so excited, but I have one question. What's your question?
- 1:58I'm going to be a pastor or a minister.
- 2:01Good question. I don't know, but it is all in God's hands. Good morning.
- 2:05You're listening to Have Faith Let It Begin, and it starts right now.
- 2:10Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Have Faith Let It Begin on this Tuesday, March 4th, 2025.
- 2:17So, it's not what you say, it's how you say it.
- 2:20Being disrespectful, being mean, saying things to others before you think about
- 2:29what you say can be detrimental.
- 2:35Infuriating for that person. I remember in my 20s, when I was a young manager,
- 2:42I remember that I reacted very, very quickly when an individual would not respect
- 2:49me when I was in the sales world.
- 2:51Little did I know, of course, that respect is earned.
- 2:55And just because you have a title, just because you have a position of power
- 3:01does not give you the right to treat people disrespectfully.
- 3:04And I think that that's the way I came across at a young age when I was given title of power.
- 3:11It was all until this one lady pretty much set me straight, but did it professionally,
- 3:18pulled me off to the side and told me that I was, you know, a likable person,
- 3:23but very disrespectful manager and that I needed to grow up.
- 3:28And at that moment, you know, I could have taken that feedback and just been even more of a jerk.
- 3:35But no, I learned, I listened, and I realized that it's not what you say, it's how you say it.
- 3:41And that each individual that you speak with, whether it's in your job,
- 3:46whether it's personally, whether it's a stranger, everybody takes certain things
- 3:51different to take feedback differently.
- 3:53It's perception, but it's the tone and just recently you know we've been dealing with.
- 4:02Administrative stuff with schooling and stuff like that for getting our son prepared.
- 4:07And we had an individual of power speak to us in a manner where I felt made
- 4:13us feel almost as if we were not putting our son first.
- 4:18And I could see the aggravation first in my wife's eyes.
- 4:23So of course, as a husband, you get defensive. And then when you finally start
- 4:28to hear all the things that are being said, and then you realize,
- 4:32hey, not only are they talking about me being a parent, but also me being a
- 4:36parent to my son. Now Papa Bear comes out.
- 4:40I'm so grateful that in my 20s and 30s, and even now my 40s,
- 4:45as what, five days away from turning 47,
- 4:48even now I'm still learning, but I'm so grateful and honored that God has given
- 4:54me the patience to listen and the patience to think before I speak.
- 5:00So I addressed it in a very, very respectful and professional manner,
- 5:04but the person really wasn't listening and didn't hear exactly what I said because
- 5:10continued on to say certain things.
- 5:12And I, at that point realized, you know what, it would be in my best interest
- 5:16to just keep my mouth shut. I've already expressed how I felt.
- 5:19And if that person just chooses not to hear me, it's on them.
- 5:24Now we will have a actual sit down meeting with these people in a couple of
- 5:28weeks. And I will make my, my presence known.
- 5:31And I think it'll have more of an impact when you're sitting in front of somebody.
- 5:35And I will be of course, respectful, stern, but professional and,
- 5:39and of course, make my, my point with words and not with a demeanor or tone.
- 5:46So where, where do we get with all this? I think that we all live in a day and
- 5:51age right now where there's so much anger toward one another.
- 5:56There's so much turmoil out in the world. It feels like there's so much hate.
- 6:01And I think a lot of it starts with the way we speak to one another, you know?
- 6:05And it's kind of like this, you know, Have Faith, Let It Begin is a show for
- 6:09you, the daily commuter, right?
- 6:11Inspirational stories, personal testimonies, motivational topics set out to change the world.
- 6:16But never, ever do I come across or try to come across as if I'm telling you,
- 6:20the listener, the family member of Have Faith at a Begin, how to live your life.
- 6:25I've always said I'm going to be in the future,
- 6:29a pastor or minister that will try to
- 6:32show and explain others through my life
- 6:36and my personal experiences and my personal stories and others to help motivate
- 6:42you and inspire you to make a decision that you feel is best of your interest
- 6:49by putting faith and spirituality with the stories.
- 6:54I want everyone to know that no matter what you do in life, no matter how many
- 6:58times you approach others, it doesn't matter what type of degree they have, if they have a PhD, if,
- 7:06they've gone to more schooling, at the end of the day, we are all people.
- 7:11And some of us need to understand that when we speak to one another,
- 7:17we have to treat each other as if we were family.
- 7:22Remember that all of us create the body of Christ. All of us are God's children.
- 7:28If we treat each other with respect, if we treat each other with love and understanding,
- 7:37and even if others don't understand what you're trying to say and you feel as
- 7:41if you're articulating that conversation in a manner where they should understand you and they don't.
- 7:47It's not for you to get frustrated.
- 7:49It's for you to figure out another way to explain it so that when you're done
- 7:52conversating, you realize that both of you understand what you're talking about.
- 7:58It's just like Christ did, walked everywhere. He preached everywhere.
- 8:02There were people that followed him, the people that ridiculed him.
- 8:05There were people that just didn't understand what he was talking about.
- 8:08Heck, his disciples didn't understand half the time. And even Jesus got a little frustrated.
- 8:13You know, when he would talk to his emma, he would talk to, you know,
- 8:16Mary, and he would say, I don't get why they don't understand.
- 8:19And even Mary told her son, you just have to be patient. You have to be kind.
- 8:26Think of Paul. All he knew was to take down Jesus.
- 8:30All he knew was to go after those that persecuted Christ.
- 8:35All he wanted to do was take down Christ. And Christ blinded him so that he
- 8:42could understand and see past everything that he was thinking. And what did Paul do?
- 8:49He felt that he wronged Christ. He felt that he wronged others. And,
- 8:54God forgave them. Christ forgave him. And he was baptized in the water.
- 9:00His eyesight came back and he realized that when he went back out into the wilderness,
- 9:06when he went back out into the world, people started to judge him.
- 9:10And he realized his actions spoke louder than his words.
- 9:15And his ability to speak with others through writing, through love,
- 9:21through kindness, made people realize that he had changed, not all, but some.
- 9:28So as you go out into the world today, think before you speak.
- 9:32Respect each other, make decisions and choices based on what your spirituality,
- 9:38what your faith, what your heart wants to be.
- 9:41But always remember to put God first, your family and your feelings and wrap
- 9:48them all up together and make a respectful decision.
- 9:52I want you to think about that today. Let us pray.
- 9:55Heavenly Father, we thank you for all that you give us. We thank you,
- 9:59Lord, for coming together.
- 10:00And we pray today that no matter what we hear and no matter how often we think
- 10:06of all the things that we can do to make the world a better place,
- 10:09it all starts with the way we speak.
- 10:12It all starts with the way we treat and respect others.
- 10:15It all starts with how we need to not judge anyone for the way they live,
- 10:20but to respect them, to understand them, to learn about them before we judge,
- 10:28disrespect, and say things that we don't mean.
- 10:31Always remember what I've said before. When you're right and you're rude, then you're wrong.
- 10:39May God be with you. May he shine his light upon you and grant each and every
- 10:43single one of you peace on earth.
- 10:46And remember the words that Jesus taught us. our Father
- 10:50who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on
- 10:57earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our
- 11:04debts as we forgive our debtors lead us not into temptation,
- 11:09deliver us from evil for yours is the kingdom the power and the glory forever.
- 11:13Music.
- 11:15In Jesus name we pray Amen.
- 11:19Have a great day and never forget, have faith, let it begin.
- 11:23Tomorrow's episode is very powerful.
- 11:26It's about an individual who is being told that they cannot do a baptism photograph,
- 11:34because they live a lifestyle that some people don't agree with.
- 11:38And now the church will refuse to do that. And that to me is unacceptable.
- 11:44Music.
