- 0:03Events guide. This is going to be everything
- 0:04we'll need to help prepare you and get you through those
- 0:07horrible social situations that come awkward and potentially
- 0:10triggering. Let's get into it guys.
- 0:12Welcome back to the Ask Me world.

- 0:27can check me out on any of the social media platform, all
- 0:30videos every day. OK stuff, Autism Century
- 0:33survival. Now, you know there's different
- 0:35times of year that come up. You know, we're we're
- 0:37approaching the holidays, we're approaching different types of
- 0:40things. There's going to be parties,
- 0:41family gear togethers, events to go to like school events, plays,
- 0:46outings, festivals, you name it. All the stuff happens over the
- 0:49holidays between November and December.
- 0:51It's packed. There's all kinds of stuff going
- 0:53on. So I'm here to help you digest
- 0:56and create some kind of landscape of how you can
- 0:58actually do this. So I've actually written down 10
- 1:00things that you can really take into consideration when you're
- 1:05trying to survive these social events, especially for century
- 1:07people. Right.
- 1:08So the first thing on the top of the year is plan and prepare.
- 1:11Now preparation is key. If you can prepare, you know
- 1:14what to do. Like, I'm going to take this for
- 1:16me and say what we mean. I'm going to make sure that I've
- 1:18got backup food if I need to eat, in case the food there I
- 1:20don't agree with or something like that.
- 1:22You've got a taxi book or you've got friends to take you home.
- 1:25You know exactly what you're going to do in that situation.
- 1:27If you plan ahead and you prepare for some eventualities,
- 1:31like I call it the ABC list. So you have Plan A, Plan B, and
- 1:34Plan C, you know, always one of those are going to work.
- 1:38If all will fail, then I'm sorry, you can come back and
- 1:40kick my butt on this video. But typically, if Plan A fails,
- 1:43Plan B will always work in fun. B fails and plus he will be the
- 1:46one you take. The next one is using calming
- 1:49techniques. When you're in a social
- 1:51situation, when you're in a crowded social event, it's
- 1:53always difficult to kind of keep your calm.
- 1:54I get super anxious about everything.
- 1:57But when you're in a social event like that, it's hard to
- 1:59maintain your stability. So I would say using calming
- 2:02techniques. Now, my best one is to breathe
- 2:05in, hold your breath. You can breathe out.
- 2:08If you can do that five times, you win every time.
- 2:12And I'm telling you now, no matter where you are, what
- 2:14you're doing, if you could just hold your breath for a minute
- 2:16and then breathe out just at least three times what I'd say
- 2:19to do five times, you're instantly calming yourself down
- 2:22and really reduce a lot of that anxiety.
- 2:24So #4 is kind of like a no brainer.
- 2:26I love this one, but it's dressing comfortably.
- 2:28When I go anywhere, I dress for comfort and ease of me.
- 2:31I don't dress to oppress anybody because I don't care what I look
- 2:34like to anybody. I just want to be able to
- 2:36survive that situation. So if I'm going to a party or
- 2:38something, if I'm going on a plane, I'll just dress in
- 2:40pajamas. I don't care because, like, I
- 2:41want to be comfortable. Don't be Century Trigger by
- 2:43wearing jeans. And I don't wear jeans.
- 2:45Or if I wearing like a tuxedo, like, no way, no way.
- 2:48Jose, if I go to weddings, I'm wearing trainers.
- 2:51I don't have a tie on. You know, I'm wearing a baseball
- 2:54Catholic. I have to be super, super comfy
- 2:57to be able to relax and survive the situation and so should you.
- 3:00You come first. New number one, make sure you do
- 3:02that. But these #5 is remembering to
- 3:04bring headphones or earplugs. You know, headphones are
- 3:06amazing. I love noise cancelling.
- 3:08Headphones is the Apple ones, but you can get a whole bunch of
- 3:11ones. I use the Bose ones for years
- 3:12and years and you can also get the small Airpod ones a bit more
- 3:15discreet, like the small Apple in ear ones.
- 3:17They're amazing because they got like a noise cancellation
- 3:19feature on them which is just fantastic.
- 3:21So always remember to bring headphones with you because if
- 3:23it's getting too loud, just put those bad boys on, you win.
- 3:26Guys, I just want to interrupt this video and say thank you to
- 3:28today's video sponsor which is brilliant.
- 3:31Not brilliant is a non prescription homeopathic
- 3:33medication that I take and you could take for ADHD related kind
- 3:38of issues, right? This is why I take it because it
- 3:40helps with enhancing clarity, improving concentration,
- 3:42reducing anxiety, stress, irritability, impulsivity and it
- 3:46just is really, really awesome. I've been taking this now for
- 3:49two years and I swear by it now you can get brilliant for adults
- 3:52and children. So depends if you're an adult on
- 3:54the spectrum or you have a child on the spectrum, you can check
- 3:57out Brilliant. Now I would always recommend
- 3:59checking in with your doctor if you're thinking about taking any
- 4:02medication, but if you are interested in checking out
- 4:05Brilliant, I can give you a 15% off code by using SP15 right now
- 4:10by checking out the link in the description down below or in my
- 4:13bio depending on where you're watching this video.
- 4:14I'm checking it out. If you want to check out really
- 4:17with a 15% discount and use ASB 15, OK, let's turn on with the
- 4:21video. OK, so number six is planning
- 4:23for breaks, making sure you take small interval breaks.
- 4:26That means going outside the party, getting out to fresh air,
- 4:29getting out to a quiet room. It could even just be going to
- 4:31the bathroom for a break. It's just giving yourself a
- 4:34sensory break or a buffer of sensory deregulation so you can
- 4:37just kind of decompress a bit and then go back to the chaos.
- 4:40It's like if you break it up like that, things become way
- 4:43more manageable and you're not getting overloaded the whole
- 4:45time. You have a a decompression tile
- 4:47and you can recuperate as and when you feel like it.
- 4:50Very interesting. OK, so #7 is visual schedules.
- 4:53If you're, you know, going to an event.
- 4:55And there's a lot of things to do.
- 4:56Like sometimes I work with Google and YouTube and MIT and
- 4:59stuff like that and other types of charities, and we'll go to an
- 5:01event and they'll be like dinner and then a presentation and then
- 5:04something else. And then we'll have to have
- 5:05speeches. And there's a lot of stuff going
- 5:07on and I get really confused with things like that.
- 5:08So if I write it down and draw it down and make it more visual,
- 5:12and then I have a visual planner, a visual expectation of
- 5:15what's going to happen on that day, I'm either you just get
- 5:17emojis or gifts and I just put them into a Word document.
- 5:20I just book or go to Google Docs, just put them in there and
- 5:22say time, you know, this is what's happening.
- 5:24Picture of dinner. You know, that makes everything
- 5:27way more manageable because I can see what's happening, of a
- 5:29visual representation of where I expect to happen.
- 5:32And that's so cool. OK, so Miller 8 is practicing
- 5:36social script. Now.
- 5:37Scripting is really interesting because I use this a lot before
- 5:40I go anywhere, before I do anything.
- 5:41I go over and over and over in my head.
- 5:42What I want to sound like. How do I want to come across?
- 5:45Am I going to sound like I'm saying what I want to say?
- 5:47And anyway, to do this comfortably is to make sure that
- 5:50you know in your head what you're going to do with social
- 5:52situation. Hey, I'm done.
- 5:54This is what I do. Nice to meet you.
- 5:56OK? We've all see the next people.
- 5:58This whole kind of like idea of socializing in parties is kind
- 6:01of just a small thing of getting to know people on networking and
- 6:04maybe just relaxing. So I would always practice
- 6:06social scripts. Maybe have two we have one
- 6:08follow one info. And what I mean by that is one
- 6:10for like people who you know you are, Be friends with and people
- 6:12who you want to maybe, I don't know, partner up with or network
- 6:15with super important and it's great.
- 6:17And also it's kind of like a business building tip as well.
- 6:19If you're an entrepreneur or a self-employed person, #9 is no
- 6:22brainer, which is bringing a support person with you.
- 6:25Now I don't really go anywhere alone.
- 6:27I always have an assistant with me because it's really good to
- 6:30have someone to kind of bounce ideas off or talk to you.
- 6:33If you're kind of getting a bit freaked out or you need to do
- 6:35something, you know, you should refer to them and say, hey dude,
- 6:37you help me out, I need some help because I'm feeling like
- 6:38this. Both people are amazing.
- 6:41Always ask a family or friend to come with you and you just wait.
- 6:44It's super awesome. Last but no means least, make
- 6:48sure to focus on having fun. Enjoy yourself, relax.
- 6:50This is your time to kind of hang out, see people maybe
- 6:53making new friends. It's always important to have
- 6:56the bigger picture in mind and the bigger picture is that just
- 6:58enjoy yourself. This is your life.
- 7:00Enjoy it guys. If you think this is awesome,
- 7:02please give it a thumbs up and share.
- 7:03Or social media if you think you can help someone, drop me a
- 7:05comment and read every single one if you want to tell me
- 7:08something. All right, see you in the next
- 7:09video guys. Peace.
