- 0:06Speaker 1: The plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I got to come off the bench.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Mercedes
- 0:14Speaker 1: Benz Baton Rouge Studio starts now.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Welcome back again, Oh TB one O four five, ESPN,
- 0:33Speaker 3: Beton Rouge, Jake Flynn, Elandra and Tata.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Oh here with you? What are you doing over there, Maddie.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Our two be a I'm scanning a card over here,
- 0:42Speaker 2: a sports card football card. Got a fresh shipment in
- 0:46Speaker 2: the mail yesterday. I brought him over for Jake to see.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I knew he'd be really excited about this one. Oh
- 0:52Speaker 2: it's my Cousin's your cousin, Devin? Check this out, Devin Hester,
- 0:57Speaker 2: greatest kick returner time. Checking this out? Look at that
- 1:03Speaker 2: half of it him with the Bears, half of it Falcons.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Greatest kick returner of all time. I don't know he's
- 1:12Speaker 4: in the.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Three that I would probably argue, all right, prime time,
- 1:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:19Speaker 4: I don't know if he did it enough.
- 1:21Speaker 3: All right, we'll give me the three DeShawn Jackson. Okay,
- 1:25Speaker 3: Devin Hester and Dante Hall play for the Chiefs. Surprisingly,
- 1:37Speaker 3: I didn't know that you did.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Hey, what so I believe Hester leads the Uh he
- 1:46Speaker 2: leads one of the most touchdowns. I'd have to look
- 1:49Speaker 2: it up on I can't remember his part returner kick return?
- 1:51Speaker 3: Did I did I catch him from behind? When we
- 1:53Speaker 3: played the Bears.
- 1:54Speaker 4: One time I did?
- 1:56Speaker 2: Was he hurt?
- 1:57Speaker 5: No?
- 1:59Speaker 2: You don't know that.
- 2:01Speaker 3: He's in the open field and this Hester one just
- 2:04Speaker 3: saying got him?
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Did you talk that ish? We were getting our butts kicks?
- 2:09Speaker 2: So probably so?
- 2:10Speaker 3: No. Uh, and Deshaun Jackson made me fall like I
- 2:14Speaker 3: got shot from the top.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Of the stadium straight on my face.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Speaking.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Joshua Cribbs was a dog.
- 2:24Speaker 2: He was really good.
- 2:27Speaker 6: The only player in the Browns that could score.
- 2:30Speaker 2: And he was a returned Yeah. He was wild because
- 2:33Speaker 2: he was not like an electric athlete. He just looked
- 2:37Speaker 2: his movements didn't seem like they were really fast. He
- 2:40Speaker 2: was kind of stiff, ran up high because he was
- 2:42Speaker 2: a taller guy, so he didn't look like he was
- 2:44Speaker 2: moving that fast.
- 2:45Speaker 6: What's his name before they moved him to running back
- 2:46Speaker 6: like Corderio Patterson was actually a really good return early.
- 2:49Speaker 2: In his career. I mean he's what six four two thirty? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 2: he had some moments, didn't he?
- 2:57Speaker 3: RISCy Harvin? Was he eat as well? Seahawks Vikings. I
- 3:03Speaker 3: got him more with the Vikings than I did the Seahawks.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I don't know if our sports knowledge like goes back
- 3:09Speaker 2: enough to like talk about some of the old heads
- 3:11Speaker 2: that were returners. So if you got.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Sayers was like a really good billy white shoes. Oh,
- 3:18Speaker 3: Brian Mitchell, how do y'all remember him? Played for the Redskins,
- 3:21Speaker 3: for the Les He's He's got the most return yards
- 3:26Speaker 3: in NFL history.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I would just go, I just go to Prime Time
- 3:29Speaker 2: because I grew up watching the Cowboys. So it's like
- 3:32Speaker 2: I remember, if they never punted it to him, he
- 3:34Speaker 2: would always get back there. They would just put it
- 3:36Speaker 2: out of bounds, putting out a bounce, punt it out
- 3:37Speaker 2: of bounds, and then when they did it was like,
- 3:39Speaker 2: hold your breath, look.
- 3:42Speaker 4: At you, hunt, Eric mtcalf, I'm proud of you.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Let's go former charger. So speaking of like.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Darren Sprolls, he's pretty good back there.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Super fast people that are electric when they get the
- 3:52Speaker 2: ball in their hands, and he has done some returning
- 3:54Speaker 2: and been pretty good at it. Tyreek Hill's pretty fast
- 4:01Speaker 2: and kind of in the news right now because this
- 4:03Speaker 2: this offseason, he's been doing a lot of different track meets.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Like he's kind of made it public that he wants
- 4:09Speaker 2: to try to compete in the twenty twenty eight Olympics
- 4:11Speaker 2: that run one hundred meter dash. So he's been going
- 4:13Speaker 2: to these different track meets running one hundred meter dashes.
- 4:17Speaker 2: He's like publicly called out probably like a little bit
- 4:20Speaker 2: jokingly called out the gold medalists for it, like no
- 4:22Speaker 2: Alliles who ran what he ran like a ninety seven
- 4:26Speaker 2: to two or something like that, which is like, which
- 4:28Speaker 2: is smoking car? So I believe this past weekend he
- 4:32Speaker 2: ran in a track meet in Texas. Tyreek Hill, professional
- 4:36Speaker 2: football player wide receiver, ran a ten to ten one
- 4:40Speaker 2: hundred meter, which is his personal best. His previous personal
- 4:44Speaker 2: best was a ten to one five earlier in the spring.
- 4:47Speaker 2: So he got a little bit better int and he
- 4:50Speaker 2: actually ten.
- 4:51Speaker 4: One, sorry like if you hear that more commonly.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So he did beat Noah Lyle's brother. And then so
- 5:00Speaker 2: he's coming. I don't know to what end he's trying
- 5:03Speaker 2: to do this. I know He's made a lot of
- 5:05Speaker 2: very uh out there statements about what he's second profession
- 5:11Speaker 2: could have been at one point and what he wants
- 5:13Speaker 2: to do. But yeah, I don't know if he's serious
- 5:15Speaker 2: or not. But good lord, a professional wide receiver that
- 5:19Speaker 2: doesn't run track full time. It's just really fasten one,
- 5:24Speaker 2: get out of here.
- 5:25Speaker 3: That's that's what we call picking him up and putting
- 5:27Speaker 3: him down pretty fast. Another track guy inside the chad
- 5:32Speaker 3: gets a little mentioned here. Tim Dwight ran track for
- 5:35Speaker 3: Iowa and then was a legit returner for the Falcons
- 5:39Speaker 3: and Chargers.
- 5:41Speaker 4: I mean, I told you all my story.
- 5:44Speaker 3: The hardest guy for me to tackle was Julian Edelman
- 5:47Speaker 3: in the return game.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Just wouldn't I go down. It's like, hey, guy, chill out,
- 5:52Speaker 4: just get taxed down.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Doing so little and competitive.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Stop being tryhard white guy and just down all right.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Jeez and Pete.
- 6:02Speaker 2: People felt like when they tackled you, like man, these
- 6:04Speaker 2: a little boat leg. These they kind of go backwards.
- 6:07Speaker 4: They just never stopped.
- 6:08Speaker 2: They just won't touch the ground.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah, Wes Walker didn't return in the NFL. In college,
- 6:13Speaker 3: he had the record for a long time.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Yeah, in Texas touchdown in NCAA history.
- 6:19Speaker 6: I'm sitting here looking at Cordero Patterson's numbers because we
- 6:21Speaker 6: were talking about him as a returner.
- 6:23Speaker 2: This is kick return only.
- 6:25Speaker 6: He's been in the league twelve years and has eighty
- 6:27Speaker 6: two hundred return yards and nine touchdowns.
- 6:31Speaker 2: That's wilde nine touchdownsick returns he has.
- 6:36Speaker 6: He's only returned to one punt in his NFL career, Like,
- 6:40Speaker 6: this is all kick.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Return He's got the most punt returns.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I think it's Devin Hester. We're looking up now, we're
- 6:47Speaker 2: angry at angry tapping. We were like airport attendant typing
- 6:51Speaker 2: right now. Yeah, uh patter, So it's not great for
- 6:54Speaker 2: your boy here.
- 6:55Speaker 6: Patterson has had one thousand kick return yards three times
- 6:58Speaker 6: even close.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Yeah, Devin Hester fourteen?
- 7:03Speaker 2: All right?
- 7:03Speaker 4: Metcalf has ten, Brian Mitchell has nine.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Brian Mitchell is the most yards at he couldn't get
- 7:09Speaker 2: one more? Four thy n ninety nine yards one more.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Come out of retirement right now? You know who shut
- 7:20Speaker 2: down Devin Hester.
- 7:21Speaker 3: I'll let it guess you know, well, yeah, the LSU
- 7:25Speaker 3: Tigers playing him in the Peach Bowl two.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Thousand and five. Ever heard of it?
- 7:31Speaker 4: The only time you didn't suck kidding. There's a there's
- 7:40Speaker 4: a time or two after.
- 7:45Speaker 2: You. Pretty good guy right here.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Do you remember who the quarterback was in that game
- 7:48Speaker 4: going against you?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Sure do? All right? Yeah?
- 7:51Speaker 4: Who was the number one quarterback?
- 7:52Speaker 2: Number one quarterback in my uh yeah, my signing class.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Remember they moved Devin Hester to running back that game,
- 8:01Speaker 3: and they kept trying to like get him on a
- 8:03Speaker 3: toss sweep and like get him to the edge, and
- 8:05Speaker 3: like Laron and all these guys are like sitting there
- 8:08Speaker 3: like waiting on him, like.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah, keep doing that, keep doing that. I don't I
- 8:13Speaker 2: don't remember anything about that game that I wasn't a
- 8:16Speaker 2: part of because I was so focused, locked in. Getn't
- 8:20Speaker 2: yelled at probably a boy Jimbo on the sideline on
- 8:24Speaker 2: the phone.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Now now, now, Flint, tell me why? Why tell me
- 8:28Speaker 4: why you do that? Why did you ever tell Jimbo why? Yeah?
- 8:33Speaker 4: He always asked.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I don't know if he ever let you really tell
- 8:36Speaker 2: him why. You'd start a sentence, then he would finish
- 8:38Speaker 2: it for you. That was the worst feeling. You come
- 8:41Speaker 2: off the sideline after a bad play or like a
- 8:43Speaker 2: three and out or whatever. You sit down on the
- 8:45Speaker 2: sideline with you know, whether it's James Coley or uh
- 8:50Speaker 2: Tracy or whoever it was, and you'd hear that was
- 8:55Speaker 2: a telephone on the sideline ringing, and you knew based
- 8:58Speaker 2: on like even the rings sounded angry. You knew picking
- 9:02Speaker 2: it up COLEI or whoever it was was like for you, like,
- 9:05Speaker 2: oh man, you just getting here full exactly.
- 9:11Speaker 3: In that game, Melvin Oliver five tackles, Fellowshoe, Ollie high
- 9:15Speaker 3: Smith five tackles, Pretty Ronnie Prude had four tackles, la
- 9:20Speaker 3: Ron Landry had four, Claude Roten had four.
- 9:22Speaker 4: I bout some of these names.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Glenn Dorsey had three, Derry Beck with Dougie had two, uh,
- 9:30Speaker 3: Chefish Jackson, Kyle Williams, Cameron Vaughan.
- 9:34Speaker 2: How about a defensive line with Melvin Oliver, Claude Road
- 9:40Speaker 2: and Kyle Williams on it. It's pretty good and Dorsey
- 9:44Speaker 2: it was rotating, decent rotation. And who's alos other end
- 9:52Speaker 2: was it? Kirsten probably?
- 9:55Speaker 4: Yeah? Christmas?
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Curston played for like he played six years in college
- 10:00Speaker 3: before was to play six years.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Well, so he was my uh my signing class at
- 10:04Speaker 2: three shout out, number one signing class in the country.
- 10:08Speaker 2: No big deal. Probably not at all because of me. Uh.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Chris of Pittman though, was a true freshman who played
- 10:13Speaker 2: a lot of people that you don't think of. Played
- 10:15Speaker 2: a lot in the three as a true freshman that
- 10:18Speaker 2: that defense, and then he was here after us. He
- 10:23Speaker 2: had some injuries, he had some injuries, but he was
- 10:25Speaker 2: one of the guys that did He got two he
- 10:27Speaker 2: got two rings.
- 10:29Speaker 4: You did as well.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Let's see. Uh, the's Sean Jordan Xenon, CHRISA. Pittman, Will Arnold,
- 10:41Speaker 2: who else? Who else is Zinger?
- 10:44Speaker 6: Wayne Boo bo did not?
- 10:48Speaker 2: He went on seven.
- 10:49Speaker 6: Oh no, I just met your three signing class.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, that three signing class. We have some
- 10:55Speaker 2: studs Ali, Bruce Sard, Craig Davis, Dwayne bo.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Who rangy guy in the three signing.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Class f jam Mark might have been JaMarcus. This doesn't
- 11:07Speaker 2: have stars next to the Jesse Daniels.
- 11:12Speaker 4: That's a stack class.
- 11:13Speaker 2: It's a stack class.
- 11:15Speaker 4: At least you didn't bring your class down like I did.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Patty Fisher Scholarship punter. I remember seeing the highlight films
- 11:22Speaker 2: of him like kicking, because we had this, we had
- 11:25Speaker 2: this highlight film that they played at the the What
- 11:28Speaker 2: was the big the bash. They played that every year
- 11:32Speaker 2: like our highlight film. They gave it to all the
- 11:34Speaker 2: all the recruits that signed, and it was like such
- 11:36Speaker 2: a cool highlight film. But Patty Fisher was there punting
- 11:39Speaker 2: it and there's like nobody at Maryland football high school
- 11:43Speaker 2: football games, and there's nobody in the stands. There's just
- 11:46Speaker 2: trees all around him, and he's punting from like his
- 11:48Speaker 2: own twenty yard line and just punts it out of
- 11:50Speaker 2: the stadium into the trees like it looks like justin Vincent,
- 11:56Speaker 2: what's the highest in this class? He was technically a
- 11:58Speaker 2: year ahead, but a gray shirt. I think he counted
- 12:01Speaker 2: towards it, but I don't think he counted towards our
- 12:03Speaker 2: class during the actual signing day when they like graded.
- 12:07Speaker 6: But Craig Davis then Craig Davis was he was in
- 12:11Speaker 6: a high four store.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Most impressive highlight tape still to this day. Sean Jordan.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Sean Jordan running over these little old passo defenders that
- 12:23Speaker 3: were trying to tackle him.
- 12:25Speaker 4: At arms, No chance.
- 12:27Speaker 2: He's about four times everybody's size on the field.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Faster, bigger, drunk.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I don't know that we could find a way to
- 12:35Speaker 3: pull that up and it'd probably be too grainy to
- 12:37Speaker 3: even figure out who is.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And just remember about Sean Jordan state champion wrestler in Texas.
- 12:42Speaker 2: He also defeated the Oklahoma state champion in wrestling in
- 12:46Speaker 2: high school. Wanted to wrestle in college as well as
- 12:49Speaker 2: play football, and uh, you know this day and age
- 12:53Speaker 2: or that day and age, there wasn't a lot of
- 12:54Speaker 2: access to the old Internet machine.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Certainly enough for Sean.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Like Sean grew up like literally like nl pass so
- 12:59Speaker 3: worried about out like football and family and like wasn't
- 13:03Speaker 3: online searching things.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think his when he committed, he was
- 13:08Speaker 2: the sign between US and Nebraska, right.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Because Oklahoma State were one of those one of those
- 13:13Speaker 4: that was.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Like a really top wrestling program play football. And then
- 13:18Speaker 2: what did Derek Dooley tell him.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Derrek Dooley, the running back coach at the time, told
- 13:23Speaker 3: Sean that LSU had a wrestling team and that he
- 13:26Speaker 3: could do both. He could wrestle and he could play
- 13:28Speaker 3: football at LSU. What Derek Dooley forgot to add to
- 13:33Speaker 3: the wrestling team was it was a club wrestling team
- 13:37Speaker 3: that you could do for fun and not for actual competition.
- 13:41Speaker 3: And again Sean didn't know any better, and you know,
- 13:44Speaker 3: it wasn't it wasn't something you could easily find. And
- 13:47Speaker 3: so Sean committed to LSU based off that information, and
- 13:51Speaker 3: he didn't find out there wasn't a wrestling team until
- 13:53Speaker 3: he got to campus. And you might be like, well,
- 13:55Speaker 3: he didn't talk to the coach. I never talked to
- 13:57Speaker 3: Jimbo or Derrek Dooley in my recruiting. I only talk
- 14:01Speaker 3: to Kirk Dahl and coach Saban.
- 14:03Speaker 4: That was it. It was a different time back then.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I guess technically not a lie from Douley, a little
- 14:08Speaker 2: bit of an embellishment as a club wrestling, but certainly
- 14:13Speaker 2: you'd think there might be a follow up question to
- 14:15Speaker 2: Duley on it, and maybe I take a visit see
- 14:19Speaker 2: the wrestling tights or anything like what color of the tights?
- 14:22Speaker 4: You know though? You know Sean, Oh yeah, oh yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 4: for sure.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Okay, I'll do it, all right, we'll catch up with
- 14:29Speaker 3: Connor O'Gara Saturday down south when we come back here

- 16:46Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Starts getting close to media days. Gotta start feeling themselves
- 16:52Speaker 3: a little bit, start feeling themselves. Must have got like
- 16:55Speaker 3: a little new outfit for media days, you know, Taylor,
- 17:00Speaker 3: them all got him a little button up, some khakis,
- 17:03Speaker 3: some new shoes, maybe got a haircut.
- 17:06Speaker 2: The pleats, how many pleats?
- 17:08Speaker 4: Two?
- 17:09Speaker 2: Do people still wear the pants with? Like? What are
- 17:11Speaker 2: the the cuffs at the bottom? Is that what it
- 17:12Speaker 2: was when they were kind of rolled up. But that's
- 17:15Speaker 2: how you did it. I bet Harball does I remember
- 17:18Speaker 2: putting those on?
- 17:18Speaker 4: How did he not have like a signature Khaki?
- 17:21Speaker 2: I'm sure he did.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I don't remember seeing that.
- 17:24Speaker 2: How many startup Khaki companies tried to get him in
- 17:27Speaker 2: as a on the ground floor ground floor investors? Possibly you? Oh,
- 17:36Speaker 2: I remember going to Sunday School at Green Acres Baptist
- 17:38Speaker 2: Church with those khakis from Dillard's bottom of it rolled
- 17:42Speaker 2: up a little bit Doc Martin's.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Was it the place to be?
- 17:46Speaker 2: Can fine? You know.
- 17:52Speaker 4: In your Dry county?
- 17:53Speaker 2: In my dry county? That's right?
- 17:55Speaker 4: All right?
- 17:56Speaker 3: So, like I said, hopefully we can catch up with Connor.
- 17:58Speaker 3: We were trying to get you ready, kind of get
- 18:01Speaker 3: your mind right for SEC media days as well, Like
- 18:03Speaker 3: we're trying to prepare you because this is your first
- 18:05Speaker 3: time and on the first day is the l s
- 18:08Speaker 3: U Day.
- 18:09Speaker 2: So I really I'm more of a crammer, though I
- 18:11Speaker 2: like to cram last minute.
- 18:12Speaker 4: I don't love that. Are you gonna be on the
- 18:14Speaker 4: plane kind of like my, uh, what You're.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Gonna be on the plane and you're gonna be stealing
- 18:20Speaker 3: my notes, cheating off my paper?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Looking at all myself. No, I'm not even then. Uh,
- 18:24Speaker 2: it'll be at the hotel night before and then like
- 18:27Speaker 2: we'll be hanging out having a good time, a couple
- 18:29Speaker 2: of pops, and all of a sudden you'd be like,
- 18:31Speaker 2: wait where Flincoln Irish goodbyes all day?
- 18:34Speaker 4: Oh that's you. I oh okay.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Not in the middle of something fun, but like it's
- 18:39Speaker 2: starting to wind down a little bit.
- 18:41Speaker 4: You don't want anybody else because of you.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Well, you don't want to be like, well, there's a
- 18:45Speaker 2: lot of people you don't want to say, Like if
- 18:46Speaker 2: you start one goodbye, then you got to say goodbye
- 18:48Speaker 2: to like twenty other people. It's just like I'm doing
- 18:50Speaker 2: everybody a favor. I'm out. I mean, we'll see you later.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Hit me up, say in touch.
- 18:59Speaker 4: I'll think anybody stay in touch. Oh yeah, dude, you're
- 19:06Speaker 4: all there together.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Make sure make sure.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Have Connor Connor. I got Connor?
- 19:13Speaker 5: All right, awesome Saturday, Okay, y'all be quiet.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Well, I mean he's over here, brodap and people saying
- 19:21Speaker 3: we'll catch up soon.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Uh, Connor, what's going on?
- 19:23Speaker 2: Man?
- 19:23Speaker 4: How you doing?
- 19:25Speaker 7: I'm doing well? Apologies. You know, sometimes even when you
- 19:29Speaker 7: what is it like nine apparently not great, so apologies.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I'm for that all good, Connor.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I was trying to explain to Flynn this is his
- 19:41Speaker 3: first SEC media day, so he's going in, you know,
- 19:44Speaker 3: kind of blind a little bit for the first time.
- 19:46Speaker 3: He's never been either, like he's never seen the crazy circus.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Would you have any advice for Matt Flynn as he
- 19:53Speaker 3: gets ready to head to his first media days.
- 19:58Speaker 7: Any sort of expectation you have about SEC and the
- 20:03Speaker 7: numbers that.
- 20:06Speaker 4: We're losing. Connor is Hey, let's just see if we
- 20:11Speaker 4: can call Connor back a man.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I don't on the edge of I want some advice.
- 20:19Speaker 4: No, I was ready Gordy forget to pay the phone bill?
- 20:23Speaker 4: Come on, what happened here? Is that an internet issue?
- 20:28Speaker 4: Is that a phone issue? I don't know.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I think we got it was we got next to
- 20:31Speaker 2: it is a landline?
- 20:34Speaker 4: Like can you like unplug it?
- 20:35Speaker 3: And like you know, like al video games used to
- 20:38Speaker 3: blow in the video game, like do you do that
- 20:39Speaker 3: like with the old phone and then put it back
- 20:41Speaker 3: into the wall.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Oh yeah, because that worked on video games. No matter what.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Up to the ceiling fan that was that was spinning
- 20:47Speaker 2: so fast it was shaken.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I never what so I did never pulled that move. Oh, yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 4: that's not something I ever did.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Well, sometimes it was you had to cool it down too,
- 20:58Speaker 2: so you couldn't just blow in it to get the
- 20:59Speaker 2: dust out. Yeah, he had a cool it down. All right.
- 21:01Speaker 4: We'll see if Connor blew into his cell phone and
- 21:03Speaker 4: has it working. Now, Connor, can you hear it?
- 21:06Speaker 7: I can hear you the whole time for for the rest. Look,
- 21:10Speaker 7: I'm just gonna that's that's what I do.
- 21:14Speaker 4: All right, it's a little bit choppy.
- 21:16Speaker 3: We'll see, we'll see if we kind of can we
- 21:18Speaker 3: get your answer on Flynn and his expectation for media
- 21:21Speaker 3: day Again, Connor, we're losing you again.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, it's all right. It's all right. Well
- 21:32Speaker 4: tell Connor, I'll just you know, we'll take the blame.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Just hit our chests.
- 21:38Speaker 3: That's on us, even though it might be him, it
- 21:40Speaker 3: might be the cell phone.
- 21:42Speaker 4: I don't really know.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I'm podcast.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Saturday Down South podcast. Check it out.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Well, maybe that's what he's sabotaged in the phone lines
- 21:53Speaker 3: because he doesn't want to give any good information here
- 21:56Speaker 3: and he wants to save it for the podcast.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Okay, we know how to adapt. We know how tojust
- 22:02Speaker 2: we're flexible over here, we could change direction like that.
- 22:04Speaker 4: I really did want to hear like kind of what
- 22:06Speaker 4: his advice to you.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Is going to be. So I'm little disappointed you're doing
- 22:13Speaker 2: your show from twelve to four.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Why did you not know that? Do you think I
- 22:18Speaker 4: was just gonna be off?
- 22:19Speaker 2: Well, what what do you usually do?
- 22:21Speaker 3: Two to five Central? So it'd be three to six
- 22:24Speaker 3: because we're going to be in the Eastern time zone.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I want to go ahead and get out in front
- 22:27Speaker 3: of that as well, Bud.
- 22:29Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm excited, which is good.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Like if you're in the Eastern time zone, you're not
- 22:34Speaker 3: going to oversleep because like.
- 22:38Speaker 4: I don't feel like no.
- 22:40Speaker 2: So the show should keep me out too late?
- 22:43Speaker 4: So you know the show. The show is going to
- 22:45Speaker 4: start at eight.
- 22:49Speaker 2: You did that one hour math pretty good right there?
- 22:52Speaker 2: So the wheels were you in then harder than they
- 22:55Speaker 2: should have been.
- 22:56Speaker 3: I was thinking of like specific mountain Eastern times.
- 23:00Speaker 5: He said he can do zoom, So do we want.
- 23:03Speaker 4: To like break try to get him on you and
- 23:06Speaker 4: then do we want to do this?
- 23:08Speaker 3: Let's do this, let's break on time, not early, but
- 23:12Speaker 3: actually on time.
- 23:13Speaker 4: We'll send Connor the zoom link.
- 23:15Speaker 3: We'll have him on video, and I hope the informations
- 23:19Speaker 3: go because I'm really wanting to hear it. And if
- 23:21Speaker 3: it's just like do your best, I'm going to be
- 23:23Speaker 3: very disappointed when we come back.
- 23:26Speaker 4: OTV off the bench, all right. Go to Central Plumbing
- 23:31Speaker 4: dot org.

- 24:41Speaker 1: room to the airwaves. Gets off the bench with Jacob
- 24:44Speaker 1: Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 24:53Speaker 4: You say, will all right? Welcome back? Yeah?
- 24:57Speaker 3: OTV one on four or five ESPN Beton rouge. Connor
- 25:00Speaker 3: just wanted to see us. It wasn't anything going on
- 25:03Speaker 3: with the phone. He just wanted to hang out. He
- 25:05Speaker 3: wanted to see us. Connor, what's going on, sir?
- 25:07Speaker 4: How you doing? How you living?
- 25:09Speaker 5: I'm doing well? Can you can you guys hear me?
- 25:12Speaker 4: See good?
- 25:13Speaker 3: We got you now. I'm gonna blame it on us.
- 25:16Speaker 3: I think our boss forgot to pay the phone bill
- 25:19Speaker 3: or something. I'm not gonna say it was you. You're
- 25:22Speaker 3: always prepared. I'm just gonna hit our chest. Like I said,
- 25:24Speaker 3: it's on us. We'll take the blame.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Look all that matters is that work here now? Apologies?
- 25:30Speaker 8: If it was on my end, Uh, we try and
- 25:32Speaker 8: work through. That's that's the gritty mindset.
- 25:34Speaker 3: That's right, that's right, too gritty to be pretty all right.
- 25:38Speaker 3: We got to hear this information though, because you started
- 25:40Speaker 3: at like two different times, we were like left on
- 25:43Speaker 3: a cliffhanger there, Matt Flann first time media day. LSU's
- 25:46Speaker 3: right out of the gates too, as you know, they
- 25:48Speaker 3: are the first team there, so he doesn't have time
- 25:50Speaker 3: to ease into this any advice.
- 25:53Speaker 5: Head on a swivel.
- 25:54Speaker 8: The amount of media that covers this thing is unbelievable.
- 25:57Speaker 8: I mean it really is, like it is truely been
- 26:01Speaker 8: to other media days and did to. I used to
- 26:03Speaker 8: go to Big ten media days every single year. But
- 26:05Speaker 8: the amount of SEC media that is at this thing
- 26:07Speaker 8: that will care about Talking season this.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Much will still be really hard to process. So at
- 26:13Speaker 5: least it was for me the very first.
- 26:14Speaker 8: Time, and just knows will be flying. I mean, the
- 26:18Speaker 8: amount of things that you will hear over the course
- 26:20Speaker 8: of the week. I'm sure you know a friend of
- 26:22Speaker 8: the program, Roman Harper is gonna tell us why like
- 26:24Speaker 8: South Carolina is going undefeated this year or.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Something like that.
- 26:27Speaker 8: You know, these are these are the types of things
- 26:30Speaker 8: that are unfold during talking season in the SEC. Uh,
- 26:33Speaker 8: nobody does it quite like the conference where it does
- 26:36Speaker 8: just mean more.
- 26:37Speaker 2: So Connor is this so I'm getting warnings from everybody
- 26:40Speaker 2: a heads up, like, you, man, you're gonna be there
- 26:42Speaker 2: all day. You're gonna get pulled in a lot of
- 26:43Speaker 2: different directions, ask asked. Everybody's gonna ask you to be
- 26:46Speaker 2: on their show. But that's just kind of how it goes.
- 26:49Speaker 2: But is this kind of like a like a red
- 26:51Speaker 2: light green light frat sorority party, where like I got
- 26:54Speaker 2: like a necklace or something, hit the green if I'm available,
- 26:58Speaker 2: flip into red if like don't talk to me right,
- 27:00Speaker 2: like do not disturb button.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Yeah, something like that would be really good.
- 27:04Speaker 8: I've actually never done something quite like that, But that's
- 27:06Speaker 8: that's actually a really good idea because the amount of
- 27:09Speaker 8: times that I've had to like go in my phone
- 27:11Speaker 8: and be like, hey, what do I have at ten
- 27:12Speaker 8: thirty on this day?
- 27:13Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 27:14Speaker 8: I got to figure this out that that's actually really smart.
- 27:16Speaker 8: Then you send that message to the rest of the world,
- 27:19Speaker 8: just just letting them know, maybe hat forward or backwards.
- 27:22Speaker 8: I know, hester you're a big hat guy at media days.
- 27:25Speaker 8: You know, depending on which way you have it, I'm
- 27:27Speaker 8: not sure if you want to go to the side
- 27:29Speaker 8: full fresh prince of bel air, but whatever needs to
- 27:32Speaker 8: be done to let people know that you're available, you're
- 27:34Speaker 8: not available, because you're exactly right, you will be pulled
- 27:37Speaker 8: in every single direction at all times. You kind of
- 27:40Speaker 8: just show up at what seven thirty whatever it is
- 27:43Speaker 8: that you guys got to be there to be able
- 27:45Speaker 8: to get your show going, and then by the time
- 27:47Speaker 8: you sign off at like I don't know, five, six
- 27:50Speaker 8: o'clock whatever it is, you're like, wait.
- 27:52Speaker 5: What did I do today?
- 27:52Speaker 2: Oh?
- 27:52Speaker 8: Yeah, I've been talking for the last nine hours NonStop
- 27:56Speaker 8: on different stations. It's just kind of the name of
- 27:58Speaker 8: the game, four day grind, and we embrace all of it.
- 28:01Speaker 4: I'm not gonna lie. I do like having the fact
- 28:03Speaker 4: that I can be like, oh.
- 28:03Speaker 3: I would do the interview, I gotta go do the
- 28:06Speaker 3: other show that, which is true.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Which is true.
- 28:08Speaker 3: I got four hours of another show, so I'm doing
- 28:10Speaker 3: seven every single day. But I kind of avoid the
- 28:14Speaker 3: car wash because I got to get to the other show.
- 28:16Speaker 4: And you know, it's a good excuse to have.
- 28:19Speaker 5: It really is. And look, if you're antisocial, this is
- 28:23Speaker 5: not the event for you. It's just not.
- 28:26Speaker 8: There is a certain standard that you're just gonna be talking,
- 28:29Speaker 8: and you'll be talking with other people that are very
- 28:32Speaker 8: very close to you that will you'll probably hear something
- 28:35Speaker 8: that's like three or four feet away from you at
- 28:37Speaker 8: another table, and you'll be like, wait a minute, that's
- 28:39Speaker 8: just totally threw me off to hear this person say
- 28:42Speaker 8: that Billy Napier is gonna get fired in week four
- 28:45Speaker 8: and then you kind of have to just regroup and
- 28:47Speaker 8: just and just keep it rolling.
- 28:48Speaker 5: But this is the hand that we play.
- 28:52Speaker 8: The good news is that it means college football is
- 28:54Speaker 8: almost here, and that's forward to above all else. That
- 28:58Speaker 8: SEC Media Day is being able to see everybody you
- 29:00Speaker 8: know that college football is you know, five six weeks away,
- 29:04Speaker 8: depending on when we wrap this thing up.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Oh man, this, uh this sounds like a squirrel seer's
- 29:09Speaker 2: like worst nightmare right here. People talking close, distracting, So
- 29:12Speaker 2: I'm like an infamous diagnosed squirrel seer over here. So
- 29:16Speaker 2: uh yeah, it'll be entertaining us. It'll be must see
- 29:18Speaker 2: TV for sure. If they just have like a camera
- 29:20Speaker 2: following me the whole time, I'm sure it'd be like
- 29:22Speaker 2: a roller coaster of emotions happening. But let's dive into
- 29:25Speaker 2: the SEC talk about Let's just get a broad stroke
- 29:28Speaker 2: overview of leading into the season, kind of what your
- 29:31Speaker 2: thoughts are on the top teams and how if we're
- 29:34Speaker 2: no predict predictions or anything, but just the beginning of
- 29:37Speaker 2: the season with the top teams.
- 29:39Speaker 8: Well, my my prediction for the past month has been
- 29:42Speaker 8: LSU National championship. So I realize where I'm saying this
- 29:45Speaker 8: and we're on the record, we get it on the
- 29:47Speaker 8: record early, just by the time that's And that's the
- 29:51Speaker 8: other thing is I like going into SECBD days knowing
- 29:53Speaker 8: how I feel about specific teams so that I'm not
- 29:56Speaker 8: just you know, gassing everybody up and saying that everybody's
- 29:58Speaker 8: gonna win at least nine ten games, because lord knows
- 30:01Speaker 8: that can't happen. But I do think that there will
- 30:04Speaker 8: be a sense of urgency for the SEC contenders because
- 30:08Speaker 8: no matter who you are, you can spin.
- 30:10Speaker 5: It as we're right there.
- 30:12Speaker 8: And I wonder how that's going to impact a team
- 30:15Speaker 8: like Georgia, which you know, coming off of consecutive years
- 30:18Speaker 8: in which it missed the College Football Playoffs semi finals
- 30:21Speaker 8: after being the preseason number one. How much is that
- 30:23Speaker 8: reflected with the offseason that they've had, with the portal
- 30:26Speaker 8: urgency that they've had. What about a team like Texas
- 30:29Speaker 8: that is the only team in college football the consecutive
- 30:33Speaker 8: semi finals heading into this year, how much is that
- 30:36Speaker 8: sense of urgency there, even though everybody's going to be
- 30:38Speaker 8: talking about the start of the Arch Manning era. And
- 30:41Speaker 8: then a team like Alabama that everybody is pointing and
- 30:44Speaker 8: laughing at. Everybody's calling their shot, whether they're Thomas Castellanos
- 30:47Speaker 8: or Diego Pavia.
- 30:49Speaker 4: You don't have to be.
- 30:50Speaker 5: Five foot ten to call out Alabama apparently anymore. And
- 30:52Speaker 5: I could say that because.
- 30:53Speaker 8: I'm five eight, But there are just a lot of
- 30:56Speaker 8: people that are saying, hey, now is the time for
- 30:58Speaker 8: Kailen de bor to show that he is capable of
- 31:00Speaker 8: being the Nick Saban successor in Tuscaloosa. So I do
- 31:04Speaker 8: think that sense of urgency is going to be really
- 31:06Speaker 8: interesting to see from all these programs that, look, you
- 31:08Speaker 8: don't have to spin it in some weird way, you
- 31:11Speaker 8: were on the outside looking in of a national championship
- 31:14Speaker 8: and in the SEC that's more than enough to be able.
- 31:17Speaker 5: To kind of get the fire started in the offseason.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Connor, who takes the biggest step back from where they
- 31:24Speaker 3: were a year ago, and who takes the biggest step forward.
- 31:27Speaker 8: You know, there's part of me that wants to say
- 31:30Speaker 8: ole Miss takes the biggest step back, But I think
- 31:33Speaker 8: that's a little bit unfair because I'm an Austin Simmons believer.
- 31:38Speaker 8: I do think that if you put he into a
- 31:40Speaker 8: tongue Ba Lowa in the same room together, you wouldn't
- 31:42Speaker 8: be able, even though there is a little bit of
- 31:44Speaker 8: a height difference, but both lefties and I swear they
- 31:48Speaker 8: have to be related in some way, shape or form.
- 31:51Speaker 5: And the fact that this is a guy that is.
- 31:53Speaker 8: Nineteen years old who has already graduated college is just
- 31:56Speaker 8: an absurd thing. And I do think that defense is
- 31:58Speaker 8: going to regress this year. So, oh, this is kind
- 32:00Speaker 8: of the obvious candidate. But South Carolina might be a
- 32:03Speaker 8: little bit more obvious, even though they have the thing
- 32:06Speaker 8: that they have lacked in so many years, which is
- 32:08Speaker 8: the returning stud quarterback. And you've got a guy on
- 32:12Speaker 8: the defensive side of the ball and Dylan Stewart that
- 32:14Speaker 8: might be one of the ten best defensive players coming
- 32:16Speaker 8: back in college football this year.
- 32:18Speaker 5: But go ask twenty twenty two Alabama.
- 32:21Speaker 8: What it's like when you have that stud edge rusher
- 32:24Speaker 8: and that unbelievable quarterback. You can have those two things
- 32:27Speaker 8: working in your favor and have all this it's really
- 32:31Speaker 8: difficult if you don't have that complete team. And as
- 32:33Speaker 8: we know twenty twenty two, Alabama did not make it
- 32:36Speaker 8: back to the College Football Playoff that year with Bryce
- 32:38Speaker 8: Young and Will Anderson. So I think that South Carolina
- 32:41Speaker 8: is the team that is probably most likely to regress,
- 32:45Speaker 8: just because I think they played at such an absurd
- 32:47Speaker 8: out of body level during the latter half of last season.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and they got a got a really great guy
- 32:53Speaker 2: under center as well, So I kind of want to
- 32:55Speaker 2: switch over to the quarterbacks because I'm always going to
- 32:57Speaker 2: lean heavy on the quarterback. We all know you can
- 32:59Speaker 2: have a great team in the world, but if you
- 33:01Speaker 2: don't have a guy under center calling the plays, directing
- 33:05Speaker 2: the offense, then your odds of winning championships at least
- 33:08Speaker 2: go down significantly. So we got a lot of top
- 33:10Speaker 2: guys in the SEC that are in the short list
- 33:14Speaker 2: for the preseason Heisman ranking. So a lot of returners,
- 33:17Speaker 2: but we always know that there is somebody that doesn't
- 33:21Speaker 2: get the preseason high. Maybe a newcomer in the quarterback
- 33:24Speaker 2: rooms at some school that busts out and has a
- 33:27Speaker 2: bust out year. Is there anybody like that that you
- 33:29Speaker 2: see in the SEC that's coming here.
- 33:31Speaker 5: There's a lot of buzzbout Ty Simpson.
- 33:33Speaker 8: Now maybe Ty Simpson is too obvious, but somebody that
- 33:37Speaker 8: hasn't started at the college level, that was a former
- 33:41Speaker 8: five star recruit who's now entering year four at Alabama,
- 33:45Speaker 8: who's stuck with that coaching staff. Maybe he's the guy
- 33:47Speaker 8: that kind of emerges that he's not going to be
- 33:50Speaker 8: in these way too early top five quarterbacks. I'm fascinated
- 33:55Speaker 8: by Marcel Reed too at Texas A and m a
- 33:57Speaker 8: guy that is kind of in that maybe second or
- 34:00Speaker 8: even third tier depending on what you look at. And
- 34:03Speaker 8: in Collin Klein offense, I'm really bullish they returned that
- 34:07Speaker 8: entire offensive line. This is a ground game that if
- 34:09Speaker 8: they can get Leveon Moss back coming off the torn
- 34:12Speaker 8: acl that he suffered at South Carolina last year, this
- 34:15Speaker 8: could be one of the best ten ground games in.
- 34:17Speaker 5: All of college football.
- 34:18Speaker 8: There's a lot of hype for Ruben Owens, who was
- 34:21Speaker 8: hurt last year and then return late in the season.
- 34:24Speaker 5: Marcel Reid is a guy that you should not sleep on.
- 34:26Speaker 8: Especially if Casey concepts you own steps in from NC
- 34:29Speaker 8: State and is that go to receiver that he looked
- 34:31Speaker 8: like he was as a true freshman a couple.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Of years ago.
- 34:34Speaker 8: A and M is a team that look nobody's gonna
- 34:36Speaker 8: sit here in Pennsyland A and M to get to
- 34:39Speaker 8: an SEC championship. That's a program that has not played
- 34:42Speaker 8: in a conference championship game in the twenty first century,
- 34:44Speaker 8: not just since they've joined the SEC. But I think
- 34:47Speaker 8: Marcel Reid is so so intriguing because the pieces around
- 34:50Speaker 8: him are really, really favorable and he's kind of being
- 34:53Speaker 8: slept on as that guy that, oh you know what,
- 34:56Speaker 8: he's not necessarily in that top tier, but he showed
- 34:58Speaker 8: a lot of in that first year. I guess if
- 35:01Speaker 8: we can even call it that as a starter. In
- 35:03Speaker 8: College Station.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Connor, we were talking earlier about Missoo, and it feels
- 35:07Speaker 3: like we're not having a Missoo conversation.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Nobody is good, bad, or indifferently.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Nobody's talking about Missouri And if you look over the
- 35:13Speaker 3: last four years, they've been one of the most consistent
- 35:16Speaker 3: programs in the SEC.
- 35:18Speaker 4: You know, I love my guy.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Drink, but like the Golden Age, of Missouri football. Luther
- 35:22Speaker 3: Burden and Brady Cook and Theowese and Cody Schrader, all
- 35:26Speaker 3: those guys are now gone.
- 35:27Speaker 4: That's that's just the offensive guys.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Not even talking about the first round picks they've had
- 35:31Speaker 3: on defense.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Why are we not talking about Missouri?
- 35:35Speaker 8: Well, I mentioned this too, I think was last week.
- 35:38Speaker 8: Their schedule is a joke. Their schedule for an SEC schedule.
- 35:42Speaker 4: Guys, look at this.
- 35:43Speaker 8: You don't see a single team on that schedule that
- 35:46Speaker 8: won ten games last year. They don't game until Week eight.
- 35:51Speaker 8: How in this year of college football, is that even
- 35:53Speaker 8: possible that they don't have a road game until week
- 35:57Speaker 8: eighty yet like they have one game a non bordering state.
- 36:01Speaker 5: Their schedule is just weird.
- 36:03Speaker 4: It's just really weird.
- 36:04Speaker 8: And look, people gave Indiana a lot of craft last year.
- 36:07Speaker 8: As an Indiana grad, I had it to kind of
- 36:09Speaker 8: take it on the chin. For that schedule, Indiana was
- 36:11Speaker 8: playing the two teams that played in the previous national championship.
- 36:14Speaker 8: You look at Miszoo's schedule and if Missoo is all
- 36:17Speaker 8: of a sudden in contention in November, we're going to
- 36:19Speaker 8: have these conversations and Greig sayk he's gonna be going,
- 36:22Speaker 8: wait a minute, I did all this campaigning about how
- 36:24Speaker 8: difficult SEC schedules are, and you look up at Missoo's
- 36:27Speaker 8: and you're kind of like, wait a.
- 36:28Speaker 5: Minute, that ad.
- 36:29Speaker 8: Is as manageable as it gets for an SEC slate,
- 36:32Speaker 8: and you're seeing that divide because there are a lot
- 36:34Speaker 8: of teams in the SEC that obviously don't have that benefit.
- 36:37Speaker 8: A team like Arkansas has one of the most college
- 36:40Speaker 8: football Florida as well, I've put in that category, but Miszoo,
- 36:44Speaker 8: we could be talking about him a lot more if
- 36:46Speaker 8: they're able to navigate what is a really, really favorable
- 36:50Speaker 8: start to their schedule. Obviously, Bo Prabuela has got to
- 36:52Speaker 8: be that dude coming over from Penn State. And if
- 36:55Speaker 8: Amad Hardy looks every bit as good as he was
- 36:57Speaker 8: last year when he was a thirteen hundred yard rusher
- 36:59Speaker 8: at Louisian, I'm in row, we'll be having those conversations
- 37:02Speaker 8: about this Missoo team not having any sort of big
- 37:04Speaker 8: time regression.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Connor, I can't tell you how much I'm rooting against
- 37:09Speaker 2: Missouri because the guy across the table from me cannot
- 37:12Speaker 2: stop talking about them. It's all he talks about outside
- 37:15Speaker 2: of LSU. So I'm going to ask you, like a
- 37:17Speaker 2: question that's gonna makes.
- 37:19Speaker 4: I fall in love with one team like that.
- 37:20Speaker 8: Every it's usually Kentucky can't be that team right now,
- 37:24Speaker 8: Like Kentucky can still further notice they're they're on the
- 37:27Speaker 8: back burner. You can't fall in love with kind of
- 37:29Speaker 8: the off season vibes that we've seen.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Like, so, I'm gonna piss my partner off over here
- 37:34Speaker 2: because I'm asking about another school outside of LSU besides Missouri.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Let's let's take a look at Oklahoma last year two
- 37:42Speaker 2: seven in the conference, Like at the bottom of the list,
- 37:46Speaker 2: at towards the botto of the list in the SEC.
- 37:48Speaker 2: What is now there? Now they're coming in the twenty
- 37:50Speaker 2: twenty five and one of the top hardest schedules in
- 37:53Speaker 2: the SEC. What kind of emphasis do they have? What
- 37:56Speaker 2: kind of pressure do they have to perform and perform
- 37:59Speaker 2: early for a fan base that expects to at least
- 38:02Speaker 2: be in contention for a conference championship.
- 38:06Speaker 8: Yeah, it's it's a really difficult team to evaluate because
- 38:11Speaker 8: part of me that says, man, if it hits right
- 38:14Speaker 8: this year, Oklahoma is a playoff team, and I was
- 38:16Speaker 8: saying that last year.
- 38:18Speaker 5: But there's also this this.
- 38:21Speaker 8: Lingering doubt when it comes to Brent Veennables evaluating an
- 38:24Speaker 8: offense and the decisions that he's made, most notably normaled
- 38:29Speaker 8: over Dylan Gabriel, who was not exactly holding Oklahoma with
- 38:34Speaker 8: what he was asking for before he ultimately hit the
- 38:37Speaker 8: portal and went to Oregon and became a Heisman finalist.
- 38:40Speaker 8: There's a sense that if Brent Ventables gets the offense
- 38:42Speaker 8: wrong again, it's curtains and that a program like Oklahoma,
- 38:46Speaker 8: which does not have to pay head coach buyouts, has
- 38:48Speaker 8: not had to be willing to pay you know, thirty five,
- 38:51Speaker 8: thirty seven million dollars, I can't remember what the exact
- 38:53Speaker 8: number is for Brent Fennibles and to move on now.
- 38:57Speaker 8: There is an expectation that John Mattier can be that
- 39:00Speaker 8: dude though, And you know, I had his coach, Jake Dicker,
- 39:02Speaker 8: who was his coach at Washington State. I had him
- 39:04Speaker 8: on my show a couple of weeks ago, and he's like,
- 39:06Speaker 8: I think he's the best player in college football, which
- 39:09Speaker 8: is a wild thing to hear a guy say, considering
- 39:12Speaker 8: the way that it kind of played out with both
- 39:13Speaker 8: of those guys leaving Washington State. But Ja Mattier is
- 39:16Speaker 8: sort of this ultimate wild card in the SEC, and
- 39:20Speaker 8: if the pieces around him, with an improved offensive line,
- 39:22Speaker 8: with dian Burg's coming back, a receiver that I'm really
- 39:24Speaker 8: high on, should do really good things out of the
- 39:26Speaker 8: slot there. If their offense is son You're like, wait
- 39:29Speaker 8: a minute, you're gonna pair that with the Brent Fennables defense.
- 39:32Speaker 8: That team, that team can handle itself in the SEC,
- 39:34Speaker 8: and that team can win nine games. But it's all
- 39:37Speaker 8: gonna come down to how they manage that offense. They
- 39:39Speaker 8: gotta stay healthier than they were last year when just
- 39:42Speaker 8: a rash of injuries hit them before the calendar even
- 39:44Speaker 8: turned October. But Oklahoma is one of these teams, man
- 39:47Speaker 8: that I think we kind of have to throw out
- 39:49Speaker 8: the twenty tens of expectations for them. As proud as
- 39:52Speaker 8: they are and understand this is a new world that
- 39:54Speaker 8: they're dealing with and coming off the year that they had.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Last year, they have a huge, huge hurdle to overcome
- 40:00Speaker 5: this year.
- 40:01Speaker 4: Are there?
- 40:01Speaker 3: He is Connor Ugera Saturday down South. I mean just
- 40:05Speaker 3: couldn't get him on the phone. He didn't give up
- 40:07Speaker 3: too gritty to be pretty jumped on the zoom. We
- 40:10Speaker 3: can appreciate that, Connor, looking forward to seeing you in
- 40:12Speaker 3: a couple.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Of weeks, brother, John M. I appreciate it. I don't
- 40:17Speaker 4: know why you need to call me out about Misseri.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I can't. I can't like Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers.
- 40:23Speaker 2: That's what you call a radio pro Transition to another question.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Sometimes you gotta sell your partner out on radio one
- 40:31Speaker 2: O one, Oh yeah, I wrote.
- 40:33Speaker 3: It all right, We'll close out out number two when
- 40:35Speaker 3: we come back. Don't forget Nick Underhill New Orleans dot

- 41:06Speaker 3: ELC to Lafayette, Lake Charles, New Orleans to Bayou Batnerige

- 41:33Speaker 2: been injured, it's not your fault with this car accident,

- 41:38Speaker 2: Call them see how they can help you. Your area
- 41:40Speaker 2: code eight eight eight eight eight eight eight.
- 41:54Speaker 1: From Players to Legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown LSU football
- 41:57Speaker 1: like only champions can.
- 42:00Speaker 9: Time went ahead and with a line for I went
- 42:03Speaker 9: alf for mo ninet Benny Long. But the bobbers and
- 42:07Speaker 9: the pun going up down, down, up down. Tonight We're
- 42:12Speaker 9: gonna raise a whole lot more than can because there's
- 42:15Speaker 9: money in the bank and some tomorrow Saturdays or if
- 42:19Speaker 9: they passed after did to check this week?
- 42:22Speaker 4: I turn it up down, up down, up down. Were sorry.
- 42:28Speaker 4: Welcome back again, Oh TD. Unfortunately our guy Roddy Jones
- 42:32Speaker 4: has to move to tomorrow. Don't worry.
- 42:35Speaker 3: I will ridicule him through text message, but we will
- 42:38Speaker 3: have him on the show tomorrow. We're still gonna have
- 42:40Speaker 3: Nick Underhill New Orleans Dot Football in eight minutes from now.
- 42:46Speaker 3: I have no idea what to believe or what not
- 42:49Speaker 3: to believe when it comes to the New Orleans Saints.
- 42:52Speaker 4: And I know that's scary.
- 42:54Speaker 3: I know it's a little frightening, but I also kind
- 42:57Speaker 3: of like it. There's a great unknown out there and
- 43:00Speaker 3: we're all expecting them to be really bad. But sometimes
- 43:04Speaker 3: when you have a young team mixed with certainly some
- 43:07Speaker 3: savvy evets, you got a young team, you got a
- 43:10Speaker 3: young quarterback.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Especially with a you don't know any coach and a
- 43:13Speaker 2: new young coach you don't know any better. Yeah, we
- 43:15Speaker 2: tend to forget because we look at, you know, the
- 43:18Speaker 2: the injuries they had last year and how bad it
- 43:21Speaker 2: kind of was, how ugly it looked last year. You
- 43:23Speaker 2: tend to forget that going to the off season. You
- 43:27Speaker 2: want to say, man, it's not going to be good.
- 43:29Speaker 2: We don't have the answers here there's a question mark there.
- 43:31Speaker 2: We got a young quarterback, new coach, what are we
- 43:33Speaker 2: gonna do? Blah blah blah blah. You tend to forget
- 43:35Speaker 2: that there's a roster full of NFL football players on
- 43:38Speaker 2: that team, and they're all pretty damn good. So you
- 43:41Speaker 2: never really know what to expect. Every single year, whether
- 43:44Speaker 2: it's high school, college, NFL, no matter what, there's always
- 43:48Speaker 2: somebody something that surprises you. So the question has to
- 43:54Speaker 2: be asked, why not the Saints.
- 43:57Speaker 3: I'm intrigued with all the new intrigued with the quarterback
- 44:01Speaker 3: competition obviously, But you said it like, you have a
- 44:04Speaker 3: young head coach, you have a innovative, young head coach.
- 44:07Speaker 3: You have somebody that has been in multiple places, kind
- 44:11Speaker 3: of found himself in multiple offenses, and what can he
- 44:13Speaker 3: take from each offense that he's been a part of.
- 44:16Speaker 3: He's had different quarterbacks like Dak Prescott's never going to
- 44:20Speaker 3: be confused for Justin Herbert.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Justin Herbis is never going to be confused for Jalen Hurst.
- 44:24Speaker 3: Jalen Hurst is never going to be confused for whoever
- 44:26Speaker 3: wins the Saints job. And I think that's a positive
- 44:29Speaker 3: for Kelli more than the fact that he's been successful
- 44:31Speaker 3: with three different types of quarterbacks.
- 44:33Speaker 2: And it's pretty positive. Like all the things that we're
- 44:34Speaker 2: hearing from the reports, whether it's from Nick or reporters
- 44:38Speaker 2: or you know, Scott the quarterbacks coach, like everything seems
- 44:42Speaker 2: really positive. And what I like about it is you
- 44:44Speaker 2: do have this young coaching staff, but they like they
- 44:46Speaker 2: are young, open offensive coaching staff that is going to
- 44:50Speaker 2: maneuver this offense around the talent. They're not going to
- 44:56Speaker 2: move the talent around their offense, right, They're going to
- 44:58Speaker 2: build it around the talent, which is really cool. And
- 45:01Speaker 2: that's what you see with these young coaches and these
- 45:03Speaker 2: guys that know no ball have been around, like you said,
- 45:06Speaker 2: around a lot of different types of talent, a lot
- 45:08Speaker 2: of different types of quarterback. So that could be really exciting.
- 45:11Speaker 2: We could be better than people are giving us credit for.
- 45:15Speaker 2: I just said us, look at me, whoa, whoa.
- 45:18Speaker 4: You did get paid by them.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Though, that's true last time I ever put on. But
- 45:22Speaker 2: then you look on the defensive side of the ball,
- 45:23Speaker 2: A lot of questions there, but you have an x
- 45:25Speaker 2: NFL head coach running the defense and who has been
- 45:29Speaker 2: a successful defensive coordinator of the passage why he got
- 45:32Speaker 2: the job as a head coach. Yeah.
- 45:34Speaker 3: I mean he was successful early on as a head coach,
- 45:36Speaker 3: and that thing went sideways on him quick.
- 45:38Speaker 2: There's a few bad decisions, maybe too much in the
- 45:40Speaker 2: analytics game, little.
- 45:41Speaker 4: Aggressive, little aggress little agressive.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Some of those fourth down, Hey, every possession ends and
- 45:45Speaker 2: up go forward and miss it failed for every failed fourth.
- 45:51Speaker 3: We had Jimbo and we should have said, hey, coach,
- 45:53Speaker 3: every possession ins in.
- 45:55Speaker 4: And you think I just said it?
- 45:56Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. Yeah, Ted toughness after discipline, Ted, Nick.
- 46:01Speaker 4: Underhill, know, other stuffootball when we come back off the bench.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Out of Ted there I did not.
- 46:08Speaker 3: We had shirts and said Ted, all right, go to
