- 0:12How life friends, It's shown here it is Friday.
- 0:16You have reached the end of another week.
- 0:19Congratulations. That is the first week of April
- 0:21taken care of. Well done for you.
- 0:24Here we are at the end of the week and looking toward the
- 0:27weekend. I hope it was a good one for
- 0:31you. It was probably a short week
- 0:32after Easter, and you've made it.
- 0:35Isn't it funny how short weeks still feel like hard work
- 0:38sometimes, don't they? Yes, they do, but good for you.
- 0:42Here we are at the end of it, and as is our way today, we are
- 0:46going to read Assam. This is a royal Sam.
- 0:50This is a sum that talks about the kingship of God.
- 0:54And some people see a very clear sign that this is also talking
- 1:00about the Messiah to come. So this is a sum that speaks to
- 1:05its day, but also into the future.
- 1:07And of course today, in the benefit of hindsight, with all
- 1:11this time and space between those days and now, it all seems
- 1:15a little clearer to us. But nonetheless, it's a short
- 1:18one, and it's a beauty. And we get to read it together
- 1:21today. So this, friends, this is a sum
- 1:24of David Sam's 110. The Lord said to my Lord.
- 1:40Sit in the place of honour at my right hand until I humble your
- 1:44enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.
- 1:49The Lord will extend your powerful Kingdom from Jerusalem.
- 1:53You will rule over your enemies when you go to war.
- 1:58Your people will serve you willingly.
- 2:01You are arrayed in holy garments, and your strength will
- 2:06be renewed each day like the morning dew.
- 2:10The Lord has taken an oath and will not break his vow.
- 2:14You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.
- 2:20The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you.
- 2:23He will strike down many kings when his anger erupts.
- 2:27He will punish the nations and fill their lands with corpses.
- 2:32He will shatter heads over the whole earth, but he himself will
- 2:38be refreshed from the brooks along the way.
- 2:41He will be victorious. Yes, Lord, you are a victorious
- 2:56God, and victory to you looks so different from what we think
- 3:01victory should look like. You know, in this arm it talks
- 3:04about shattering enemies and Spears and Shields, but so often
- 3:12victory for you looks like sacrificing yourself so that
- 3:18your love can come into its fullness, so that people will
- 3:22know their true value and their dignity in your eyes.
- 3:27Just continue to redefine in our hearts what it looks like to be
- 3:32victorious, and often that planting of a small seed of
- 3:37grace or shining some love where it wouldn't otherwise be shown.
- 3:43That is victory, and even though it doesn't feel big or mighty or
- 3:48powerful, that is where you win. That is where your Kingdom gets
- 3:54a foothold in this world. May we be your messengers of
- 4:01your victory. Not our victory, not what we
- 4:03think your victory should look like, but your sacrificial
- 4:07servant hearted love and leadership of your people.
- 4:13Us. You are a good, good God, a
- 4:18loving, kind and gracious Lord. And we love you and we praise
- 4:24you. And it's all these things that
- 4:27we pray in the saving name of Jesus I'm in.
