- 0:00Speaker 1: People say you have to have faith. I say you
- 0:02Speaker 1: got to have stubborn faith. Radical, ridiculous faith. Faith that'll
- 0:08Speaker 1: stand by itself and say, I still believe. Laugh at me,
- 0:13Speaker 1: talk about me, make jokes at me, look funny at me,
- 0:17Speaker 1: but I.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Still believe that he that.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Hath began a good work in me shall provide.
- 0:24Speaker 3: I believe it. This is the part of touch.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Greetings to you in the invincible name of Jesus Christ,
- 0:35Speaker 1: our King. I am so blessed and so delighted to
- 0:38Speaker 1: have this opportunity to share with you the glorious gospel
- 0:41Speaker 1: of Jesus Christ. I'm excited because I believe God has
- 0:44Speaker 1: given me a word that will change your life. You
- 0:49Speaker 1: ought to take a moment and call a friend right
- 0:50Speaker 1: now and tell them to just tune in to this
- 0:53Speaker 1: because I believe this word is life-changing.
- 0:57Speaker 3: As we go into the.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Word of God today, my prayer for you is that
- 1:00Speaker 1: the Word of God will go richly into you and
- 1:02Speaker 1: bring forth fruit in every area of your life.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Now, brothers and sisters, now to the Word of God.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Let's understand the times in which this man is healed.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It is not a time that all the worshipers are
- 1:17Speaker 1: in agreement. It is not a time in the temple
- 1:20Speaker 1: when things are going well. Orthodox Judaism was in trouble
- 1:25Speaker 1: like it had never been in trouble before. They'd had
- 1:27Speaker 1: some problems before. There was that guy with the wild
- 1:31Speaker 1: locusts and the honey who started preaching repent for the
- 1:34Speaker 1: kingdom of heaven in that hand. And he had made
- 1:37Speaker 1: a dent into the numbers of Orthodox Judaism in such
- 1:41Speaker 1: a way that thousands of people had followed him out
- 1:44Speaker 1: into the wilderness and were baptized by him.
- 1:47Speaker 3: But they survived. They got past that.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Okay, they were going on in spite of that. Then
- 1:51Speaker 1: there was that incident with that carpenter's son that rose
- 1:56Speaker 1: up and started... preaching about the kingdom and he had
- 2:01Speaker 1: started preaching some things that had gotten the ears of
- 2:04Speaker 1: some of their congregants and they were a little disturbed
- 2:07Speaker 1: about it but but it was okay it really wasn't
- 2:11Speaker 1: that bad it was some rumors about some blind people
- 2:16Speaker 1: being healed but they were isolated to certain cities and
- 2:19Speaker 1: because they did not have the benefit of newspapers radios e-blast, CNN,
- 2:24Speaker 1: text or blogging. They were able to hush it down
- 2:28Speaker 1: pretty good even though there were murmurings in the camps
- 2:31Speaker 1: and organized Judaism was up under.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Attack by this Christ.
- 2:36Speaker 1: This Christ teaching had gotten loose but they were holding
- 2:39Speaker 1: it down pretty good. What really got disruptive is when
- 2:43Speaker 1: he stopped by Bethany and went over to the tomb
- 2:46Speaker 1: and found a guy named Lazarus who had been dead
- 2:49Speaker 1: four days and And it stood at the tomb of
- 2:53Speaker 1: Lazarus and said, Lazarus, come forth.
- 2:55Speaker 3: And the dead man came back.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And they couldn't dispel it as a rumor because he
- 3:01Speaker 1: showed up at the feast and the testimony. And I
- 3:05Speaker 1: am he that was dead and alive forevermore. That's when
- 3:09Speaker 1: the orthodox movement of religious people decided to get rid
- 3:14Speaker 1: of Jesus.
- 3:15Speaker 2: We've got to stop him.
- 3:17Speaker 1: He's going to tear up the synagogue. He's going to
- 3:21Speaker 1: ruin the temple. He's teaching a message that suggests that
- 3:25Speaker 1: the people can get to God without us. And what
- 3:32Speaker 1: then will we do for a job? If the people
- 3:35Speaker 1: don't bring bullocks and lambs and goats and wave offerings
- 3:39Speaker 1: and meal offerings and drink offerings, if they don't bring
- 3:42Speaker 1: them to us to offer up oblations before God, then
- 3:46Speaker 1: our significance is demented by his presence. Anytime somebody else's
- 3:52Speaker 1: significance is diminished by your presence, they become a secret enemy. Amen. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 1: that's worth taking back home with you. Don't let the
- 4:04Speaker 1: smile fool you. Anytime their significance is diminished by your
- 4:09Speaker 1: presence or success, they are apt to become a secret enemy.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I don't care what they bought you for Christmas. Anytime
- 4:18Speaker 1: their significance is diminished by your presence, they are apt
- 4:22Speaker 1: to be an enemy in a secret and diabolical way.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And so they were up under attack and they made
- 4:30Speaker 1: a commitment. We've got to get rid of him. He
- 4:32Speaker 1: had 5,000 people. Follow him out into the desert. 5,000
- 4:37Speaker 1: is too many. No tithes from those people, no offerings,
- 4:43Speaker 1: no lambs, no bullets, no goats. They're following this new
- 4:47Speaker 1: guy called Jesus. We've got, do you not know he
- 4:50Speaker 1: had the audacity to say he was the son of God?
- 4:53Speaker 1: And some people are calling him God and he has
- 4:56Speaker 1: the nerve to say he can forgive sins.
- 4:58Speaker 2: We got to get rid of him.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And so for survival's sake, a decision was made by
- 5:07Speaker 1: the high priest of the rabbinical council.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Of the synagogue at that time.
- 5:12Speaker 1: He gave his assent to the crucifixion of Christ for
- 5:16Speaker 1: the survival of Orthodox Judaism. The problem with that was
- 5:26Speaker 1: the 5,000 didn't show up at the cross. They had
- 5:28Speaker 1: to spell the numbers. They had gotten rid of him.
- 5:31Speaker 1: They buried him in the tomb, rolled a stone in
- 5:33Speaker 1: front of it to make sure he did not get
- 5:35Speaker 1: up and there was nobody stole his body and there
- 5:37Speaker 1: was no confusion about that but the problem with that is.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Early Sunday morning early Sunday morning I.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Can't really explain exactly what happened but early Sunday morning
- 5:52Speaker 1: the stone had been rolled away and the tomb was
- 5:56Speaker 1: empty and there were rumors.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That he had risen from the dead though none saw.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Him save his disciples but to them they said he
- 6:05Speaker 1: showed himself alive for 40 days with many infallible proofs,
- 6:09Speaker 1: showing up to the two on the road to Emmaus,
- 6:11Speaker 1: eating with them, showing up in the upper room, eating
- 6:14Speaker 1: fish and walking through doors and even doubting Thomas and
- 6:18Speaker 1: thrust his hand into his side and where they pierced
- 6:21Speaker 1: him and began to believe. And now it was coming
- 6:23Speaker 1: up again. They thought they had it all dead and
- 6:26Speaker 1: it was coming up again. You know how it is
- 6:28Speaker 1: when you think you got something squashed and it starts
- 6:31Speaker 1: coming up again. That was that incident 50 days after
- 6:39Speaker 1: the crucifixion of Christ when his disciples, about 70 of them,
- 6:44Speaker 1: had gathered in the upper room and they were up
- 6:46Speaker 1: there praying. And there was rumors that there was a
- 6:49Speaker 1: shaking and an earthquake and lightning sounded and thunder roared
- 6:53Speaker 1: and thunder. And they were filled and started talking in
- 6:56Speaker 1: other languages. And people came all around them. Some said
- 7:00Speaker 1: they were drunk. But others said, no, this is not
- 7:03Speaker 1: a drunkenness from new wine. Seeing as this is but
- 7:06Speaker 1: the third hour of the day. But this is that
- 7:08Speaker 1: which the prophet Joel spoke of. That in the last days,
- 7:11Speaker 1: saith God, I will put out my spirit upon all flesh.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And now a revolution has started in Judea, Samaria, the
- 7:21Speaker 1: uttermost parts of the earth. And people are walking up
- 7:24Speaker 1: and down the streets praising God in different languages.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And this is out of control.
- 7:32Speaker 3: It was out of control.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I say this because I want you to understand that
- 7:42Speaker 1: there were those who held that view.
- 7:45Speaker 3: In the temple. That view.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Saw Christ. As an anarchy. As a rebel. As a danger.
- 8:00Speaker 1: To orthodox religion. Yeah. They were not happy about it.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Those folks came to church. Now put that aside. And
- 8:16Speaker 1: let me serve this. There is this other group who
- 8:19Speaker 1: had followed Jesus. They were committed to him.
- 8:23Speaker 3: They had served him. They had been on the boat
- 8:25Speaker 3: that night.
- 8:26Speaker 1: When the storm was tossing to and fro. And Jesus said,
- 8:28Speaker 1: peace be still. And the winds and waves that laid down.
- 8:31Speaker 1: There was even that incident where Jesus came reportedly walking
- 8:35Speaker 1: across the water to them.
- 8:37Speaker 3: And they had believed on him.
- 8:38Speaker 1: They were there when the woman with the issue of
- 8:40Speaker 1: blood touched the hem of his garment and was made whole.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They were there when the ten lepers were healed. Though
- 8:47Speaker 1: they were across the street, Jesus just told them, go
- 8:50Speaker 1: show yourself to the priest.
- 8:51Speaker 3: And his word was so.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Powerful that it healed them without him ever using his hand.
- 8:57Speaker 1: He just sent his word out. And his word healed
- 9:00Speaker 1: and delivered them. What a mighty God we serve. And
- 9:03Speaker 1: even the centurion had had deliverance come to his house.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And one reported named Jairus had had his daughter who
- 9:11Speaker 1: was dead resurrected.
- 9:13Speaker 3: And he stopped a funeral. Touched the casket.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And a dead boy came up out of the casket.
- 9:19Speaker 3: They were there.
- 9:20Speaker 1: They had seen the miracles. They had seen the power.
- 9:24Speaker 1: They had seen the touch of God, but they saw
- 9:28Speaker 1: it from a back row seat because God was using Jesus.
- 9:33Speaker 1: This same Jesus had been crucified. This same Jesus had
- 9:38Speaker 1: been nailed to the tree and now he's gone. And
- 9:42Speaker 1: this is the first time that the disciples show up
- 9:46Speaker 1: to move in the power of God without Jesus being
- 9:51Speaker 1: present with them and they wondered in their mind will
- 9:54Speaker 1: it work for me like it worked have you ever
- 9:59Speaker 1: wondered in your mind will it work for me like
- 10:03Speaker 1: it worked.
- 10:04Speaker 3: For someone else.
- 10:10Speaker 1: So you see when Peter and John come to the
- 10:14Speaker 1: temple it is not like you coming to church Where
- 10:17Speaker 1: you come into a room full of people who agree
- 10:19Speaker 1: with you. They are coming to a service where their
- 10:28Speaker 1: theology is not accepted, not appreciated.
- 10:33Speaker 3: And not welcome.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And they are coming to the temple.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Not knowing whether God will use them like he used Jesus.
- 10:46Speaker 1: For this is the first miracle since the day of Pentecost.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Their power has not been proven.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Now, had they been in.
- 10:57Speaker 1: A room full of people who agreed with them, at
- 11:00Speaker 1: least they'd have the backup of other people. But sooner
- 11:03Speaker 1: or later, you have to stand up and believe God
- 11:07Speaker 1: for yourself, whether anybody believes him with you.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Or not.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Or not.
- 11:18Speaker 1: People say you have to have faith. I say you
- 11:20Speaker 1: got to have stubborn faith. Radical ridiculous faith. Faith that
- 11:27Speaker 1: will stand by itself. And say I still believe. Laugh
- 11:31Speaker 1: at me. Talk about me. Make jokes at me. Look
- 11:34Speaker 1: funny at me. But I still believe. That he that
- 11:38Speaker 1: hath began a good work. In me shall provide.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I believe it. I believe. I believe. I believe.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Is there anybody left in the church that still believes
- 11:54Speaker 1: in the power of God? Tell your neighbor, I got
- 12:03Speaker 1: stubborn faith. You don't have to believe it. You don't
- 12:10Speaker 1: have to believe it. I still believe it. Take my
- 12:15Speaker 1: house and I believe it. Take my car and I
- 12:18Speaker 1: believe it. Sick in my body and I believe it.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Children strung out on drugs and I believe it. I
- 12:25Speaker 1: believe it in a jail cell. I believe it in
- 12:28Speaker 1: a boardroom. I believe it in a crisis center.
- 12:32Speaker 2: If God be for.
- 12:36Speaker 3: You.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Oh, I feel the spirit of church in here. Somebody
- 12:40Speaker 1: help me pray with stubborn faith.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Still to come on the potter's touch i want to.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Make note of that for somebody who's had a long
- 12:57Speaker 1: standing problem just because it's been there a long time
- 13:02Speaker 1: doesn't mean it's gonna stay a long time sometimes god
- 13:07Speaker 1: will put your trouble on display and let everybody see
- 13:12Speaker 1: you in trouble Be convinced of your trouble so that
- 13:17Speaker 1: when he delivers you, there will be no doubt as
- 13:22Speaker 1: to the authenticity. It's the biggest event of its kind,
- 13:29Speaker 1: and we are going to shake the city. Gather again

- 14:22Speaker 2: We do it big in Texas.
- 14:30Speaker 1: They're moving to the temple, expecting to fight, but not
- 14:37Speaker 1: the lame man to fight the religious mindset that is
- 14:42Speaker 1: waiting for them in the temple. But as is the
- 14:47Speaker 1: case with much of life, it is not the destination
- 14:50Speaker 1: that is important. It is the things that happen along
- 14:57Speaker 1: the way. You'll be trying to get to a particular
- 15:02Speaker 1: place in life and you say, once I get there,
- 15:05Speaker 1: I'm going to get this and I'm going to be
- 15:07Speaker 1: blessed and I'm going to have that and I'm going
- 15:09Speaker 1: to see the power of God. But it is not
- 15:11Speaker 1: the destination. God often shows up on the rest stop
- 15:16Speaker 1: on the side of the road. It is the things
- 15:18Speaker 1: that happen along the way and along the way to
- 15:23Speaker 1: the temple.
- 15:23Speaker 2: There was a man.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Third course, there was a man. He was different from
- 15:37Speaker 1: the first two courses. The first course comes to defend
- 15:40Speaker 1: their position and their significance against the tyranny of this
- 15:45Speaker 1: new theology.
- 15:47Speaker 3: The second group.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Comes to establish a truth that they believe will convert
- 15:52Speaker 1: the orthodox into the contemporary understanding of who Christ is.
- 15:56Speaker 1: He didn't come for either thing. He came because he's broke.
- 16:04Speaker 1: He came because he's crippled. He came because he's destitute.
- 16:11Speaker 1: He came because any crippled person will tell you that
- 16:16Speaker 1: religious people are more apt to be benevolent than other people.
- 16:22Speaker 1: The begging was good over there. Ha ha ha ha
- 16:27Speaker 1: ha ha. Y'all don't like it when I tell the truth.
- 16:34Speaker 1: This man has developed a pathology, a structure, a methodology,
- 16:41Speaker 1: if you please, around his dysfunction. He does not come
- 16:47Speaker 1: to the temple to be healed. He comes to the
- 16:52Speaker 1: temple to get over. He is not like the woman
- 17:03Speaker 1: with the issue of blood saying, if I may but
- 17:05Speaker 1: touch the hem of his garment, I will be made whole.
- 17:08Speaker 1: He didn't even ask to be healed. He got up
- 17:14Speaker 1: out of the bed that morning, got some friends to
- 17:17Speaker 1: get him dressed. They picked him up and carried him
- 17:21Speaker 1: over where the begging was good. He got his cup
- 17:25Speaker 1: out of his pocket. And he started into his daily routine, alms, alms, alms.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Now what I want you to see is the cataclysmic
- 17:38Speaker 1: explosion that occurs when three different kinds of people show
- 17:44Speaker 1: up at the same place. each expecting something different. And
- 17:48Speaker 1: yet in the middle of this chaos, God is orchestrating
- 17:52Speaker 1: the affairs because all of it.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Ain't nothing but a setup.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Now, brothers and sisters, I wish I could preach this
- 18:07Speaker 1: like I feel it. This man had been lame From
- 18:15Speaker 1: his mother's womb. He is obviously a grown man at
- 18:20Speaker 1: this point. So he has had a lifetime. Of dysfunction.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And God allowed it to be so. He allowed it
- 18:31Speaker 1: to go on for years. To set the stage.
- 18:41Speaker 2: For a miracle.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I want to make note of that for somebody who's
- 18:45Speaker 1: had a long standing problem. Just because it's been there
- 18:49Speaker 1: a long time doesn't mean it's going to stay a
- 18:52Speaker 1: long time. Sometimes God will put your trouble on display
- 18:59Speaker 1: and let everybody see you in trouble.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Be convinced of your trouble so.
- 19:05Speaker 1: That when he delivers you, there will be no doubt
- 19:10Speaker 1: as to the authenticity.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Help me preach this this morning. I'm a little tired.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I need you to help me preach this morning. Just
- 19:31Speaker 1: touch your neighbor on your right and your left and say,
- 19:33Speaker 1: it don't matter how long it's been that way.
- 19:35Speaker 3: It doesn't matter.
- 19:36Speaker 1: It don't even matter. It doesn't matter how many nights
- 19:40Speaker 1: you cried. It doesn't matter how sick you've been. It
- 19:45Speaker 1: doesn't matter what they said about you. It doesn't matter
- 19:49Speaker 1: how long you've been down. It doesn't matter that the
- 19:53Speaker 1: odds are against you. It doesn't matter that you don't
- 19:57Speaker 1: have what you need. This ain't nothing but a setup
- 20:01Speaker 1: for supernatural tactical Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Slap somebody and tell them it's a set up. They
- 20:27Speaker 1: don't believe you. Find somebody else and say it's a
- 20:29Speaker 1: set up. Every night you cried. Everything you endured. What's
- 20:37Speaker 1: going on in your body. What's going on in your marriage.
- 20:40Speaker 1: What's going on in your house. What's going on on
- 20:43Speaker 1: your job. It ain't nothing but us. I don't know
- 20:50Speaker 1: who I'm preaching to. But whoever it is. Let me
- 20:59Speaker 1: see if I can identify my courses. My first course
- 21:05Speaker 1: has already got inside the temple.
