- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous Podcast with iHeartRadio. Hi, everybody.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Welcome back to the most dramatic dance floor ever. It's me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Trista Sutter. And I'm very sad to say that Deanna
- 0:12Speaker 1: is not. here today with me. She had an obligation
- 0:15Speaker 1: that she couldn't miss. So I've got an incredible lady
- 0:18Speaker 1: joining me today. Joan, welcome to the podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Thank you for having me. Yes, of course.
- 0:25Speaker 1: So we are going to recap last night's episode of
- 0:29Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars. It was episode eight, and it
- 0:32Speaker 1: was horror night, Halloween horror night, which, you know, I'm
- 0:37Speaker 1: not as a, it's my birthday today. And as a
- 0:40Speaker 1: Halloween kind of baby, like you said, Joan, I feel
- 0:44Speaker 1: like my birthday has always been around Halloween. Like, how
- 0:49Speaker 1: can you not, like, celebrate a birthday at a Halloween
- 0:52Speaker 1: party when you're growing up or whatever? So, Halloween has
- 0:56Speaker 1: always been, like, a big part of my life. But
- 0:58Speaker 1: I'm not, like... I don't have all of the decorations out. Like,
- 1:02Speaker 1: I know there are people out there who go crazy
- 1:05Speaker 1: and ballistic for Halloween. I... I'm not that person, but
- 1:08Speaker 1: I have to say this is always one of my
- 1:11Speaker 1: favorite nights because the hair and makeup and costumes and
- 1:17Speaker 1: All of it is so good. They knock it out
- 1:22Speaker 1: of the ballpark every single year. Right?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Totally agree. Totally agree. And like the theatrics of this night.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And I don't know, like I think about, you and
- 1:34Speaker 2: I have both been to Dancing with the Stars many times.
- 1:36Speaker 2: You were in it. I've been a viewer. I've been
- 1:38Speaker 2: invited a couple times to watch. And I, you know,
- 1:41Speaker 2: we kind of a little bit see the behind the
- 1:43Speaker 2: scenes as they're trying to get the stage reset between
- 1:46Speaker 2: each dance. Yes. It is incredible what they do on
- 1:50Speaker 2: Halloween night. It's even bigger than every other night. It's incredible.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I don't know how they do it. Yes. I mean,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I remember the show, like, Riley the entire night was
- 2:02Speaker 1: totally in character with her, like, Annabelle, like, just staring
- 2:06Speaker 1: at the camera.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Staring at people.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It was so good.
- 2:09Speaker 2: And Mara.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I think Mara's in the same thing. Oh, my gosh.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And then Tyler's hair. Just everyone, as they were flashing. Yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Everyone's outfits, costumes, makeup. Like, it is just so... Their
- 2:23Speaker 1: makeup artist and.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Crazy. The blood looks real.
- 2:27Speaker 1: They need an Emmy. Yeah. I mean, oh my gosh, Tatiana's,
- 2:31Speaker 1: Jan's like whole face was like.
- 2:33Speaker 2: The whole thing over here. And how about somebody's hands?
- 2:36Speaker 2: I think there were Mara's hands were covered like in blood.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And I'm like, it looks so like gloppy and real.
- 2:42Speaker 2: It was.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I know.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I actually loved Mara. I think as of all the costumes,
- 2:48Speaker 2: I thought she was the most like kind of striking scary.
- 2:51Speaker 2: She looked like a real person, but just with crazy
- 2:55Speaker 2: eyes and blood on her. We could have nightmares, people.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I am going to. And Julianne, I mean, I feel
- 3:05Speaker 1: like last week she looked amazing. This week, the hair.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I didn't even notice the red parts of her hair
- 3:10Speaker 1: until later on in the show. But she looked, oh
- 3:13Speaker 1: my gosh, everyone looked amazing.
- 3:15Speaker 2: She looks really good with long hair.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I love her long hair.
- 3:18Speaker 2: But I think that's because.
- 3:20Speaker 1: because she's had short hair for a really long time,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I think, you know, you always are like, oh, it
- 3:25Speaker 1: looks really great like that. I think she looks good both,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but I agree.
- 3:28Speaker 2: She's the most perfect, beautiful face. I mean, she can
- 3:31Speaker 2: wear any, she can be bald and be fine, but
- 3:32Speaker 2: I just thought she looked really cool with that hair.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I was like, oh, you should wear that wig sometimes.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So I don't think it's a wig.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I think that's her hair, but maybe some extensions obviously
- 3:41Speaker 1: thrown in. Okay. So Shirley Ballas, holy cow. We knew
- 3:47Speaker 1: coming in to this week, that she does not hold back.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I don't know. Did you watch, did you watch next pro.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Some of it?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Not all of it.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 1: So she is hardcore. And as Julianne said, when she
- 4:02Speaker 1: introduced her, she is the original or head judge of
- 4:06Speaker 1: the original version of the show strictly come dancing, which
- 4:10Speaker 1: is where this whole, this show like got its roots. Um,
- 4:15Speaker 1: And she's just known as she's hardcore. Like she does
- 4:19Speaker 1: not hold back. She won't hold back. And she proved
- 4:21Speaker 1: that last night. She certainly did.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I mean, she certainly has the like backing to be
- 4:26Speaker 2: that hard of a judge because she's been judged her
- 4:28Speaker 2: whole life. And she is like the ultimate dancer. I
- 4:33Speaker 2: think she's scary. Like if I had to dance in
- 4:35Speaker 2: front of her, I might implode. Like that might just
- 4:38Speaker 2: put me over the edge because like it's not scary
- 4:40Speaker 2: enough to be dancing on national TV. Now you got
- 4:42Speaker 2: to dance also in front of Shirley Ballas.
- 4:45Speaker 1: And get judged. Like, I don't know. I think I
- 4:47Speaker 1: would implode not when you're dancing it that night. I mean, yes,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I would. But I would implode leading up to it
- 4:53Speaker 1: because I'd be like, what is happening? I am going
- 4:56Speaker 1: to be dancing in front of Shirley Ballas. She's going
- 4:58Speaker 1: to rip me to shreds, you know?
- 5:01Speaker 2: And, you know, maybe that's a little why Julia Stiles
- 5:05Speaker 2: seems so tense in her dance. Like, I felt like
- 5:08Speaker 2: she did not enjoy this week at all.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I know. I know. So let's, okay. So
- 5:15Speaker 1: Julia Stiles was our first. Oh, let me also say
- 5:19Speaker 1: next week. You know, these guest judge things I love
- 5:24Speaker 1: because I love bringing different people in from different areas.
- 5:27Speaker 2: It's so fun.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And next week it is Disney night and Cynthia Erivo
- 5:32Speaker 1: is going to be there. I mean, just to like
- 5:34Speaker 1: anticipate what she's going to wear, the nails, the everything.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Everything is going to be insane.
- 5:41Speaker 2: The stars that they have on the show. Now, I
- 5:43Speaker 2: know they've always had stars. I feel like this year,
- 5:47Speaker 2: it's even more elevated. I don't know why. I just
- 5:50Speaker 2: feel like the people that are dancing are amazing. There
- 5:53Speaker 2: are so many, you know, kind of stars outside of
- 5:55Speaker 2: kind of, you know, in years past, a lot of
- 5:58Speaker 2: the stars have been people who are on reality. Now
- 6:01Speaker 2: you have like real people stars, like didn't just show
- 6:04Speaker 2: up for a show and did okay. These people are
- 6:06Speaker 2: like have talent, like they're actors and actresses and they
- 6:09Speaker 2: are dancers or whatever. They are Olympians. I feel like
- 6:12Speaker 2: the level of contestant support It is insane now. And
- 6:16Speaker 2: also the judges.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, seriously.
- 6:19Speaker 2: This season is crazy. And it's on Monday night next week.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Do not forget. I'm so afraid I'm going to forget this.
- 6:24Speaker 2: In fact, I'm going to set my DVR today. In
- 6:26Speaker 2: case I forget it, I'll be.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Able to watch it. It'll set. It'll set. If you
- 6:29Speaker 1: have chosen the season, then it'll automatically record it. I did.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Okay, good.
- 6:32Speaker 1: So, I'm not going to miss it. You'll be fine.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I had this fear I'm going to miss it. I'm
- 6:35Speaker 2: going to forget.
- 6:36Speaker 1: No. I'm the same. Okay. So, we start the episode
- 6:40Speaker 1: with Julia Stiles and Ezra.
- 6:42Speaker 2: And.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I thought, you know, she did amazing. I didn't watch
- 6:47Speaker 1: the movie. And so I know I'm like one. You
- 6:51Speaker 1: haven't you to watch it.
- 6:52Speaker 2: No, I don't like scary movies. No, I'm not.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Talking about that movie. I'm talking about last week with
- 6:57Speaker 1: Heath Ledger. The 10 things I hate about you.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Also, I never saw that. OK. OK, thank you. We
- 7:04Speaker 2: it's like I.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Don't know anybody who hasn't seen it now. Well, maybe Ryan, but... Okay,
- 7:11Speaker 1: so I hadn't seen the movie, and I know the
- 7:13Speaker 1: people who loved this routine, including Deanna and Heather, our producer, are.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Like, were so.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Like, they bought in, you know, everything because of the
- 7:26Speaker 1: nostalgia of it, and they love the movie, and I
- 7:29Speaker 1: totally understand that. But I hadn't seen it, and so I'm,
- 7:32Speaker 1: of course, you know, watching with more... critical eyes.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Me too. And I also didn't, I liked all of
- 7:39Speaker 2: the dedications that were more personal. I know that she
- 7:42Speaker 2: obviously knew Heath Ledger, but I don't think that they
- 7:44Speaker 2: had stayed close after they did the movie. So, I mean,
- 7:47Speaker 2: like I, you know, Heath Ledger's death was quite a tragedy,
- 7:52Speaker 2: but I'm not sure if she had such a, I
- 7:55Speaker 2: don't see the personal connection as much as I did
- 7:58Speaker 2: in some of the other people's. Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So this week I was, you know, that I think
- 8:03Speaker 1: gave her so many brownie points with millions of people
- 8:06Speaker 1: because they do feel that nostalgia toward, you know, a,
- 8:10Speaker 1: a movie that for so many people is their favorite
- 8:13Speaker 1: all time movie, you know? So I get that. Um,
- 8:17Speaker 1: but this week I was like, okay, we're back to,
- 8:20Speaker 1: you know, brass taxes and we're gonna, you know, watch her, her,
- 8:24Speaker 1: Her actually dance ability and ability to connect with the
- 8:28Speaker 1: audience and everything. And I will say the package that
- 8:31Speaker 1: they showed, they showed her and Ezra kind of like
- 8:34Speaker 1: at each other, which I actually want to see more
- 8:38Speaker 1: of everyone. I want to see the reality of it.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I want to see the raw moments where they are
- 8:45Speaker 1: human and they're not getting it perfectly. And they're not...
- 8:48Speaker 1: like always laughing and giddy. And like, I love those
- 8:51Speaker 1: parts too, but I will say I did love the package,
- 8:55Speaker 1: but because I felt like it was showing the reality
- 8:59Speaker 1: of the situation is that it's so stressful to come
- 9:03Speaker 1: on this show as a non dancer. And like, you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: you're going to be on national television and you're trying
- 9:12Speaker 1: to learn something brand new. And I think she said
- 9:14Speaker 1: she was 46 years old and she's like, Listen, I've
- 9:17Speaker 1: never done this, and it's really hard on my body,
- 9:21Speaker 1: and it's really hard to learn. I totally understand it,
- 9:24Speaker 1: so I love that they showed that in the package.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I did, too.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I felt a little sorry for Ezra because he kind
- 9:30Speaker 2: of prefaced the whole evening, like, I'm going to be
- 9:32Speaker 2: really hard on you because these— it's getting harder and harder.
- 9:37Speaker 2: The competition is getting harder. And she agreed. And then
- 9:42Speaker 2: she imploded a little bit. I think it's the buildup.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I think this is a time in the competition where
- 9:48Speaker 2: the stakes are higher. You're thinking, okay, maybe I have
- 9:50Speaker 2: a chance now. And you are becoming even harder on yourself.
- 9:55Speaker 2: And you've also had seven weeks of intense pressure. Like,
- 9:59Speaker 2: how many weeks can a person take that? Yeah. I
- 10:02Speaker 2: don't know. I think I might implode by this week.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Like I might be like, okay, I can't keep doing this.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Like my, I don't sleep at night or whatever. My
- 10:09Speaker 2: body is imploding at week one.
- 10:11Speaker 1: So, you know, it's, it's just so stressful.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Well, maybe like everybody is terrified at week one and
- 10:16Speaker 2: then you kind of, you know, get into a groove
- 10:19Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:20Speaker 2: By this time you're like, I've been doing this for
- 10:22Speaker 2: a lot of weeks. My body is sore. I don't
- 10:23Speaker 2: know how else I can improve. Like I just think
- 10:26Speaker 2: it's the week.
- 10:26Speaker 1: I just, I want to see the re the real stuff.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Like I don't even know if she's married. You know,
- 10:31Speaker 1: like I, right.
- 10:33Speaker 2: So I feel like. They don't tell you who anybody
- 10:35Speaker 2: is in the audience lately. Like I haven't seen like.
- 10:37Speaker 1: That's what I mean.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Like it's family and friends is what it says.
- 10:41Speaker 1: That's what I mean. Like, I want to know who
- 10:43Speaker 1: you are. Like I, yes, I know we've watched you
- 10:46Speaker 1: on the movie screen, but I want to know who
- 10:49Speaker 1: you are. Like, this is an opportunity for you to
- 10:51Speaker 1: connect with. as a real human person with all of
- 10:54Speaker 1: these people who are fans of yours. So anyway, okay.
- 10:57Speaker 1: All that said her dancing. Um, yeah, I still, as
- 11:02Speaker 1: has been like through the entire season, um, you know, she's,
- 11:07Speaker 1: she's not at the bottom for me, but she's not
- 11:10Speaker 1: at the top. Like she's, she, I love Ezra. I
- 11:14Speaker 1: love him personally. I love his energy and their connection.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Like he's such a good guy. He's just so fun
- 11:24Speaker 1: and supportive and all of those things. But I felt like,
- 11:28Speaker 1: I felt like exactly what the judges were saying. She
- 11:32Speaker 1: was like, kind of like, like, to herself like she
- 11:36Speaker 1: wasn't like she wasn't allowing herself like even when he
- 11:40Speaker 1: picked her up it just seemed like she was like
- 11:44Speaker 1: oh god I'm gonna get hurt or whatever and that's
- 11:47Speaker 1: valid like I totally understand you just cannot let the
- 11:51Speaker 1: audience see you with your worries.
- 11:56Speaker 2: With your concerns.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yes, you got to have your game face on and
- 11:59Speaker 1: just do the dance.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I felt the same way. I felt like she just did,
- 12:03Speaker 2: there was no joy there at all. And I know
- 12:04Speaker 2: it was supposed to be an intense look in the
- 12:06Speaker 2: dance and she was acting also, but I did feel
- 12:09Speaker 2: like there was no joy and that she was really stiff.
- 12:12Speaker 2: And I really agreed with kind of their comments. I
- 12:15Speaker 2: did love that Bruno said he saw the temptress- Because
- 12:19Speaker 2: I don't think she's been particularly a temptress in any
- 12:21Speaker 2: other weeks. And he said that. And I think that
- 12:24Speaker 2: was very flattering. But I think everybody said she was
- 12:26Speaker 2: too stiff. And Shirley did not like it at all.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And that was a hard way to start this night.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Because we knew Shirley was going to be hard.
- 12:31Speaker 1: No kidding.
- 12:32Speaker 2: And then she was really hard.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, with a four.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Like a four.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 12:38Speaker 2: She didn't like it at all.
- 12:39Speaker 1: What a four. Wow. That was tough.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I was like. And I think Bruno tried to like.
- 12:47Speaker 2: everybody behind them were, were, were booing them. And he
- 12:51Speaker 2: was like, kind of like going list to the people
- 12:52Speaker 2: behind him. Like, like stop, stop, stop.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Don't, don't boo her.
- 12:55Speaker 2: But that was pretty harsh. A four is harsh. It's scary.
- 12:58Speaker 1: A four is, I mean, she came out swinging. She's like, listen,
- 13:03Speaker 1: I'm here to do my job and my job is
- 13:06Speaker 1: to criticize your dancing. And so that is what I'm
- 13:08Speaker 1: going to do. And, and she, wow. She came out
- 13:12Speaker 1: the gate swinging. Um, I do think it was really
- 13:16Speaker 1: interesting when they went up to the skybox that I was,
- 13:20Speaker 1: I always watched kind of behind.
- 13:21Speaker 2: The people who they're interviewing.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And Mark was up there in the background and everyone
- 13:27Speaker 1: was looking at Mark when she gave her score.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Really hard week for Mark. First of all, he's dancing
- 13:33Speaker 2: in front of his mother, who's probably extremely critical of him.
- 13:36Speaker 2: And then he, like every time she does something like,
- 13:40Speaker 2: you know, maybe very truthful, but I'm sure he felt it.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Like this is my mom talking. I think I thought
- 13:46Speaker 2: about Mark all night, honestly.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Same. So her score wasn't great.
- 13:50Speaker 2: A 26.
- 13:50Speaker 1: She got a 26. She got all sevens. And then
- 13:54Speaker 1: with Shirley's four, she got a 26. And combined with
- 13:57Speaker 1: last week, she got a 62 out of 80, which
- 14:00Speaker 1: Isn't great, but like I said, I don't think she's
- 14:03Speaker 1: the worst. I don't think she's the top. I think
- 14:05Speaker 1: it landed kind of where she needed to.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Yeah, she's not going to be there at the end,
- 14:09Speaker 2: but she's going to hold her own for a little while,
- 14:10Speaker 2: I think.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought there was a chance that she would
- 14:14Speaker 1: go home tonight because it was a double elimination. They
- 14:16Speaker 1: didn't eliminate last week, so I thought she had a
- 14:19Speaker 1: chance of going home last night.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I did too.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But I think it's coming soon, unfortunately. So next up
- 14:26Speaker 1: was Harry and Jenna.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 1: And I haven't seen... So I need to preface this
- 14:31Speaker 1: whole episode by saying I don't watch scary movies. I
- 14:35Speaker 1: hate scary movies. Me too. I hate horror. I can't.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I can't do it.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I hate it. I literally.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I went to my first... Well, not my first. My
- 14:43Speaker 1: first scary movie was at a sleepover, and we watched
- 14:47Speaker 1: Children of the Corn. I know.
- 14:50Speaker 2: I would never watch that. Never watch it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And I'll never forget. Like, I was... Why did I
- 14:57Speaker 1: start scary movies off with that movie? Because it ruined me.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I cannot watch scary movies. I hate them.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I saw the movie Carrie.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it was terrifying, and I will never forget. In fact,
- 15:10Speaker 2: I walked out of the movie theater, and all my
- 15:12Speaker 2: friends were sitting in there, and I'm sure they were
- 15:13Speaker 2: making fun of me. I was probably like 12 or 13,
- 15:16Speaker 2: and I just sat out in the lobby of the
- 15:17Speaker 2: movie theater and waited for it to be over all
- 15:19Speaker 2: by myself. Oh, Joe, no. I can't do it.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I mean, good for you for walking out, because I
- 15:25Speaker 1: was in a sleepover, and I couldn't leave.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I'm like, crap. Yeah, sleepover.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Anyway, so Harry and Jenna, in their package, they were
- 15:33Speaker 1: talking about How it was amazing that he was able
- 15:36Speaker 1: to honor his family, which I loved last week. I
- 15:40Speaker 1: loved it.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Especially how he talked about the Asian culture and that
- 15:43Speaker 2: they aren't very effusive with their emotions.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yes.
- 15:45Speaker 2: And I love that about him.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Yes, I agree. And I think what's also interesting is,
- 15:50Speaker 1: you know, Julie is an actress. Harry is an actor.
- 15:55Speaker 1: What is so important, I've said from the beginning of
- 15:59Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars, is because I felt it when
- 16:02Speaker 1: I was there. as a non-actor, if you have acting talent,
- 16:08Speaker 1: it helps you so much in this competition. I've said
- 16:11Speaker 1: that so much. Oh, gosh. I mean, I was like, okay,
- 16:16Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Louis, when he would ask me to do
- 16:18Speaker 1: certain things. And I'm like, I don't know how to
- 16:21Speaker 1: do that. I'm not an actress. I can't fake that
- 16:25Speaker 1: I am stressed out and I don't want to be like,
- 16:29Speaker 1: intimately dancing with a man that is not my husband.
- 16:32Speaker 1: You know, it's weird.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I've always thought that the actors and actresses and the athletes,
- 16:40Speaker 2: professional athletes, have a little bit of an advantage.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Oh, 1000%. 1000%. It's hard to come in.
- 16:46Speaker 2: As like a reality person like you did. I mean,
- 16:48Speaker 2: people win, they do win. But I think it's really
- 16:50Speaker 2: hard to come out in as a reality TV person.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you just have to have some some acting skills
- 16:56Speaker 1: as a reality person. And I think the people who
- 16:58Speaker 1: have won have those. Okay, so they are dancing contemporary,
- 17:02Speaker 1: which I love for him. I love that he gets
- 17:04Speaker 1: to express himself and act his way. Like that, the costumes,
- 17:09Speaker 1: like Jenna's costume. Oh, and the fact that it's contemporary
- 17:14Speaker 1: is where Jenna started, like as a competitive dancer.
- 17:17Speaker 2: She loves it.
- 17:18Speaker 1: So to get to showcase her skills in contemporary, and
- 17:21Speaker 1: she's such an amazing choreographer. Yeah. So the dance was wow.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Like, wow. And you have to remember, like he's talked
- 17:30Speaker 2: about in the package, you know, the pre dance package
- 17:32Speaker 2: that he his his Grey's Anatomy schedule was really crazy.
- 17:38Speaker 2: And they kept changing it on him. So he kept
- 17:39Speaker 2: losing time to practice. So I really didn't expect that much.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I thought it was going to be simple. He was
- 17:45Speaker 2: going to do it really well, but it wasn't. It
- 17:46Speaker 2: was going to be simple. Not even close. It was
- 17:49Speaker 2: complicated and there were lifts and it was crazy.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I don't know how he learned all that.
- 17:54Speaker 2: How do you remember how to do all that?
- 17:56Speaker 1: I don't know. Especially when he's like trying to remember lines,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I'm sure. And trying to remember a dance. So he's
- 18:03Speaker 1: trying to use all these different parts of his brain
- 18:06Speaker 1: and actually do it well. And you guys, he did
- 18:08Speaker 1: it so well. He got a perfect score.
- 18:11Speaker 2: He got the first ever of the season perfect score.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I can't.
- 18:14Speaker 2: And I feel like it's early for a perfect score.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Am I wrong about that? I don't feel like we've
- 18:19Speaker 2: gotten them in like this week in the past.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I bet we'll hear more about that. There is, I
- 18:25Speaker 1: talk about her all the time, is Bachelor Data. She
- 18:27Speaker 1: does like pop culture data. Yeah. So I'm sure she'll
- 18:32Speaker 1: go back and see when.
- 18:33Speaker 2: The first perfect score was. It feels early to me.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I think it is a little early, not to say
- 18:40Speaker 1: that it hasn't ever happened, but I do think it's,
- 18:44Speaker 1: I would guess that it's probably not the first time
- 18:46Speaker 1: that a perfect score has been awarded. at this stage
- 18:49Speaker 1: in the game, but I think it was well, well deserved.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Like her choreography and to get a 10 from freaking
- 18:59Speaker 1: Shirley Ballas, in addition to all the other judges.
- 19:04Speaker 2: It's crazy because she's been judging forever and she says
- 19:07Speaker 2: this is the first time she's ever seen anything like
- 19:09Speaker 2: it and loved it. Like that's, like what a compliment.
- 19:11Speaker 2: First of all, to Jenna as a choreographer that, I mean,
- 19:14Speaker 2: she choreographed this dance.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:16Speaker 2: And that she had never seen anything like that, but
- 19:18Speaker 2: that they pulled it off so perfectly with such time limitations.
- 19:21Speaker 2: It's just amazing. It makes me feel like he's going
- 19:24Speaker 2: to be there in the end. I feel like he's
- 19:25Speaker 2: going to be there.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Oh, I've said that from the beginning. He'll be.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I feel like it's going to be two males in
- 19:29Speaker 2: there at the end, to be honest with you.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Well, there's five. There's going to be five. So.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Yeah. But I mean, I think the final two will
- 19:36Speaker 2: be two males.
- 19:38Speaker 1: My thought. Yeah. Well, Ezra, Ezra is my call to. Well, actually,
- 19:41Speaker 1: have I said that? Yeah. I feel like I've said Harry.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Ezra is my number one. I feel like he's going
- 19:47Speaker 1: to win. You should. Mara. No, I actually haven't said
- 19:52Speaker 1: Harry all the time. I do feel like after last
- 19:56Speaker 1: week and this week, like he is an amazing dancer.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I mean, clearly he's a professional dancer. But I have
- 20:03Speaker 1: thought others were connecting more to Mara. Maura, I love her, like,
- 20:08Speaker 1: underdog story, and she has just been amazing. And then
- 20:13Speaker 1: Jenna Dewan, obviously, is a professional dancer. And Amber Glenn. Like,
- 20:19Speaker 1: after last week, I'm like, as I said last week,
- 20:23Speaker 1: that was one of my all-time favorite Dancing with the
- 20:26Speaker 1: Stars dances.
- 20:27Speaker 2: She dances with such feeling. I mean, we'll get to her.
- 20:29Speaker 2: We'll talk about her in a bit. But I think
- 20:31Speaker 2: Harry deserved the perfect score, especially dealing with, I don't
- 20:35Speaker 2: know if they The judges, I'm thinking they don't take
- 20:38Speaker 2: into account like what they say in the package because,
- 20:41Speaker 2: you know, for Ezra Sands, he talked about being in
- 20:43Speaker 2: pain and Harry talking about how he didn't have much time. But,
- 20:48Speaker 2: you know, it didn't show at all.
- 20:50Speaker 1: So. Up next was Tatiana and Jan, and I felt
- 21:06Speaker 1: like she was feeling a lot of pressure because Shirley
- 21:11Speaker 1: Ballas is the queen of Latin, as Jan explained. She was,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I think, 10-time national Latin champion. She knows her Latin,
- 21:21Speaker 1: and Tatiana and Jan were the only ones doing a
- 21:25Speaker 1: Latin dance, which they did the Paso. I mean, the
- 21:29Speaker 1: stress of that is a lot. That's a lot. I
- 21:34Speaker 1: will say the package leading up to it, I hadn't
- 21:37Speaker 1: seen Sinners. I haven't seen Sinners because it is a
- 21:40Speaker 1: horror movie and I hate horror movies, but it kind
- 21:42Speaker 1: of makes me want to watch it. Like their dance
- 21:45Speaker 1: kind of made me want to watch the movie. I
- 21:47Speaker 1: was intrigued by.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Like how they were describing the music and how people
- 21:52Speaker 1: are attracted to the music.
- 21:54Speaker 2: And I don't know.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Anyway, so I do feel like that might be one
- 21:58Speaker 1: on my list.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Maybe we can watch it together and hold hands.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know. No, more like, like, you know,
- 22:07Speaker 1: hold me. Not just my hand.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I love her positivity.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yes.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Jan said, like, are you worried? And she's like, no. Like,
- 22:17Speaker 2: I'm just going to go out there and do the
- 22:18Speaker 2: best I can. I'm going to be here at the end.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I'm going to be the final girl.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Like, she is so positive, and she seems like she's
- 22:25Speaker 2: never nervous. Do you get that feeling about her? Like,
- 22:28Speaker 2: I can't imagine how you wouldn't be. I mean, I
- 22:30Speaker 2: guess she's been on national TV for a million years,
- 22:33Speaker 2: but doing something live is scary.
- 22:36Speaker 1: I feel like she has shown her nerves before, but
- 22:40Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that– you know, that, I don't know.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying, but I feel like she
- 22:46Speaker 1: has shown her nerves, but you're right. She is so positive.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I do love that about her. I love that she
- 22:53Speaker 1: constantly shows up with that. Even if she's like disappointed,
- 22:56Speaker 1: she's like, you know what? But it's okay because I love,
- 23:00Speaker 1: you know, I love dancing. I love the show. I
- 23:03Speaker 1: love being with Jan. They have such a great time together.
- 23:06Speaker 1: They laugh so much and that shows a lot. She
- 23:09Speaker 1: ended up getting All eights, except for the second four
- 23:14Speaker 1: of the night from Shirley, which, oh, my goodness. Like,
- 23:20Speaker 1: why couldn't she at least give a five or a six? Like,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm just like, girl, four? Really? Like, I wonder if
- 23:27Speaker 1: coming in, she actually, like. planned on the four would
- 23:33Speaker 1: be her like lowest score do you know what I
- 23:36Speaker 1: mean like if that was her plan coming in because
- 23:39Speaker 1: wow that's a really low score it's.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Really low and I thought that they were pretty good
- 23:45Speaker 2: but I am I'm obviously not Shirley Ballas I did
- 23:47Speaker 2: feel like and I kept thinking the whole time she
- 23:50Speaker 2: was dancing that the dress was overpowering her and and
- 23:54Speaker 2: Carrie Ann said that and Carrie Ann said that I
- 23:56Speaker 2: was like thank you for saying that because I felt
- 23:58Speaker 2: like all I could look at it was the dress.
- 24:00Speaker 2: It had ruffles and flowy and it just had, there
- 24:03Speaker 2: was a lot to it. And I did feel the
- 24:05Speaker 2: same way.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 2: As Carrie Ann.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yeah. I do feel like also maybe Shirley like has
- 24:10Speaker 2: this reputation of being a hard ass. So she kind
- 24:12Speaker 2: of wants to keep it up. So she's going to
- 24:14Speaker 2: give some really low scores.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 1: No, I agree. I mean, if that's what she's going
- 24:19Speaker 1: to do, then you expect it after the first one.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I just felt bad, you know, for Tatiana. I thought
- 24:24Speaker 1: she handled it amazingly. Like she was like, okay, All right, well,
- 24:29Speaker 1: that sucks, but whatever. So I think she did really well.
- 24:35Speaker 1: She's the same as Julia for me, not necessarily at
- 24:38Speaker 1: the bottom, not at the top.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Totally agree.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And we'll see when her time comes. Maybe it's next week.
- 24:45Speaker 1: She was also one of the ones kind of on
- 24:47Speaker 1: the chopping block for me. And she ended up getting through,
- 24:51Speaker 1: but yes.
- 24:53Speaker 2: She's kind of been on the chopping block for me
- 24:54Speaker 2: every single week. Yeah, she keeps making it. And I
- 24:57Speaker 2: was like, okay, good, because I do like her positivity.
- 24:59Speaker 2: So I'm happy that she makes it. And I think
- 25:02Speaker 2: so far all the people that have been voted off,
- 25:04Speaker 2: I've agreed with really.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah. So Jenna and Val are up next. And obviously
- 25:10Speaker 1: what Val said and this drama between him and Carrie
- 25:14Speaker 1: Ann and even Jenna Johnson. has been in the headlines
- 25:19Speaker 1: for the entire last week. He got the consequences of
- 25:23Speaker 1: not dancing last week. And knowing Val personally, not that
- 25:28Speaker 1: he's my best friend or anything, but I know him
- 25:31Speaker 1: and the kind things that he's done for my daughter
- 25:34Speaker 1: and her friends. And I feel like I knew who
- 25:40Speaker 1: he was. I don't think it was something that He, like,
- 25:44Speaker 1: intended to be, like, sounding, like, violent. He was just,
- 25:48Speaker 1: you know, backing up his wife and supporting her in
- 25:52Speaker 1: that way. And, you know, sometimes we make mistakes with
- 25:55Speaker 1: our words where we are hyperbolic.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Hyperbolic?
- 26:01Speaker 1: Is that the word? Like, it's a hyperbole that we're, like, saying, oh,
- 26:05Speaker 1: I want to strangle someone. When you don't really, you
- 26:08Speaker 1: just are explaining, like, your support for someone. And I
- 26:12Speaker 1: just love that. That I'm sure you've seen the people,
- 26:19Speaker 1: or not even people, people have put out video of
- 26:22Speaker 1: them hugging it out.
- 26:24Speaker 2: I loved it.
- 26:24Speaker 1: The show. Yeah. Carrie Ann and Val. And like actually
- 26:28Speaker 1: talking like eye to eye, face to face. Like you
- 26:30Speaker 1: could tell it was a very genuine hug. conversation of
- 26:35Speaker 1: like forgiveness and asking for forgiveness and I thought it
- 26:40Speaker 1: was really sweet I'm glad that they talked about it
- 26:43Speaker 1: and didn't like push it under the rug a little
- 26:46Speaker 1: bit I mean they can't put too much time to
- 26:48Speaker 1: it because this is a really long show and a
- 26:50Speaker 1: lot of people have to perform so they did have
- 26:53Speaker 1: Val say you know I'm really sorry that I let
- 26:56Speaker 1: you down and You know, Jenna saying, I love you.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Welcome back. You know, we're good. I missed you. So
- 27:03Speaker 1: I'm glad that they talked about it. And I really,
- 27:05Speaker 1: truly hope because last week we talked about Deanna was like,
- 27:09Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm going to be able to
- 27:10Speaker 1: watch them the same. And I'm like, I really just
- 27:13Speaker 1: hope that the rest of America feels like, you know what?
- 27:17Speaker 1: That was just the drama of last week. We're not
- 27:20Speaker 1: even going to put any time and energy into it anymore.
- 27:23Speaker 2: I feel like he released a statement right after he
- 27:26Speaker 2: did it and was very, very sorry and then kind
- 27:30Speaker 2: of had to live with not being on the show
- 27:32Speaker 2: last week. And it was a really bad week to miss.
- 27:35Speaker 2: It was a really meaningful week. So I felt like
- 27:37Speaker 2: that was a big punishment. And I feel like he
- 27:39Speaker 2: did his time and now we should all move on.
- 27:42Speaker 2: And I don't think Carrie Ann was.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I think she was very gracious about it.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I totally agree.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought she was lovely. And I think they're
- 27:51Speaker 2: good and we should all be good. And, you know,
- 27:52Speaker 2: everybody deserves forgiveness.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I totally agree. Second chances. So he's got his second chance.
- 27:57Speaker 1: He's on the dance floor and in the package. So
- 28:02Speaker 1: since the beginning, Deanna and I have talked about how
- 28:08Speaker 1: we want to connect with Jenna more. We know she's
- 28:09Speaker 1: a professional dancer. We know she's an actress. We know
- 28:12Speaker 1: she's got skills. We know she's got a family. We
- 28:14Speaker 1: don't know anything more than that, really. Like she brought
- 28:17Speaker 1: her mom on last week and we heard that sweet story.
- 28:20Speaker 1: But I also feel like she just doesn't explain, like
- 28:24Speaker 1: she doesn't connect. And I don't know if this was
- 28:26Speaker 1: an editing decision or if she just didn't want to
- 28:29Speaker 1: get into it. But she says she has a genetic
- 28:32Speaker 1: condition in her upper back. And I'm like, okay, this
- 28:35Speaker 1: is a perfect opportunity to say, you know, I deal
- 28:40Speaker 1: with this or whatever. And it was just like, it's a,
- 28:43Speaker 1: a genetic condition. I was like, there's no, like you're
- 28:47Speaker 1: not bringing us into your life. And I feel like that's,
- 28:50Speaker 1: what's missing with Jenna. Like all of this said, all
- 28:53Speaker 1: of this said her dance out of control. Amazing. Like, yes,
- 28:58Speaker 1: she got stuck on her dress. Like her shoe got
- 29:00Speaker 1: stuck on her dress. And she also, if you look
- 29:04Speaker 1: back the, the lift right before it, she comes down
- 29:07Speaker 1: out of the lift and her, her foot kind of
- 29:09Speaker 1: like not twists like completely, but, She had some missteps
- 29:14Speaker 1: in the dance and she didn't get any perfect scores
- 29:18Speaker 1: except for from Derek, who didn't notice her getting stuck
- 29:22Speaker 1: on her dress, which I was like, what? He notices everything.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I know. Everything.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I feel like that should almost be, and Shirley kind
- 29:31Speaker 2: of said this, that she saw the hiccup, but then
- 29:34Speaker 2: was impressed by her recovery. I mean, I feel like
- 29:37Speaker 2: that's a little bit of a wardrobe issue. and not
- 29:40Speaker 2: necessarily a dance issue. I don't know if that's completely true,
- 29:43Speaker 2: but I felt like if your wardrobe can get stuck
- 29:46Speaker 2: on your shoe, then maybe that piece of wardrobe, whatever
- 29:50Speaker 2: it was, if it was a flowy part of the
- 29:52Speaker 2: skirt or whatever, maybe wasn't right for dancing.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yes, but at the same time, we just talked about
- 29:58Speaker 1: Tatiana and how her dress was overpowering, and I think
- 30:03Speaker 1: she got lower scores because of it. I think, honestly,
- 30:08Speaker 1: if you have any kind of hiccup, if you have
- 30:11Speaker 1: any kind of mishap, if you have any kind of misstep,
- 30:14Speaker 1: if you have any kind of mistake, you have to
- 30:17Speaker 1: be docked points for it. You don't have to be
- 30:19Speaker 1: docked five points for it, but I think that needs
- 30:21Speaker 1: to be taken into account. You can't get a perfect
- 30:23Speaker 1: score when you have a mistake. You know, it can't
- 30:25Speaker 1: be perfect. So even if it wasn't your fault, even
- 30:28Speaker 1: if you just got caught on your wardrobe, I think
- 30:30Speaker 1: that you have to be docked for it. So the
- 30:34Speaker 1: fact that, I mean, Derek said he didn't even see it.
- 30:37Speaker 1: He was the first one to comment as the judge.
- 30:42Speaker 1: And I was waiting for it because it was very
- 30:45Speaker 1: obvious to me. And obviously he's at a different angle.
- 30:48Speaker 1: So the cameraman is like right there where you could see,
- 30:52Speaker 1: you know, it happening to her. And he was on
- 30:55Speaker 1: the other side.
- 30:56Speaker 2: But I was shocked.
- 30:57Speaker 1: He notices everything. He is very detail-oriented. And the fact,
- 31:02Speaker 1: I was sitting there going, why isn't he talking about
- 31:05Speaker 1: the fact that she just.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Got stuck?
- 31:09Speaker 1: She stumbled. So he gave her a perfect score because
- 31:14Speaker 1: he didn't see it. I think that all the other
- 31:18Speaker 1: ones were very valid and fair in that she danced
- 31:23Speaker 1: an incredible dance. It was... It was perfect, but she
- 31:28Speaker 1: had a little mistake.
- 31:30Speaker 2: It had the right amount of drama. And once again,
- 31:33Speaker 2: she's an actress, so she knows how to play this game.
- 31:37Speaker 2: She does it really well.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. Derek even said it was one of
- 31:42Speaker 1: the best Argentine tangos that he's ever seen on the floor.
- 31:44Speaker 1: And she did make it look. So easy. I've never
- 31:47Speaker 1: danced this style of dance, but she did an amazing job.
- 31:51Speaker 1: So she got 37 out of 40 with a 74
- 31:54Speaker 1: out of 80 combined. And compared with Harry, he was
- 32:01Speaker 1: a 76 out of 80 combined. So Harry was at
- 32:03Speaker 1: the top of the leaderboard. She's right underneath him.
- 32:06Speaker 2: And I feel like they're about right.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Connor and Riley in the beginning.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Like, I cannot get past her makeup. Her makeup was so...
- 32:17Speaker 1: good and so convincing. I was like, she is Annabelle. Like,
- 32:21Speaker 1: I haven't watched that movie, but I know exactly that character. Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I mean, he's the toy maker. She's a doll. He
- 32:29Speaker 2: was perfect in his role and he never came out
- 32:31Speaker 2: of his role. Like he embraced it and he was it.
- 32:34Speaker 2: That's what he was when he was on that stage.
- 32:36Speaker 1: It was so good.
- 32:39Speaker 2: So good.
- 32:39Speaker 1: It was so good. I did too. I, and you know,
- 32:44Speaker 1: it was contemporary, but one thing I will say, is
- 32:47Speaker 1: that Riley was so convincing and so good in this dance.
- 32:56Speaker 1: And it was so good. The dance was so good,
- 33:00Speaker 1: mostly because Riley just was amazing. Like, I could not
- 33:06Speaker 1: take my eyes off of her and her makeup and
- 33:08Speaker 1: her whole character. And I think I had to remind myself,
- 33:12Speaker 1: I'm like, you have to watch Connor. You have to
- 33:13Speaker 1: watch Connor. I didn't watch Connor because I was.
- 33:16Speaker 2: So, like, I thought he was so good. I thought
- 33:20Speaker 2: the storytelling, like I saw the story. This was the
- 33:24Speaker 2: only one that I really, really, really understood the story.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Maybe because it's kind of a simplistic story. It's a
- 33:28Speaker 2: toy maker and a doll. And there is this huge
- 33:31Speaker 2: horror element to it. I also love the song. You
- 33:35Speaker 2: Are My Sunshine. I sing it to my grandkids. I
- 33:36Speaker 2: sing it to my kids.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I'm not the horror version, obviously.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 33:40Speaker 2: The real version, like it plays in repeat on my
- 33:43Speaker 2: head most days. I just thought I really understood the story.
- 33:48Speaker 2: I was a little surprised he got the scores that
- 33:51Speaker 2: he got because I felt like it was all centered
- 33:54Speaker 2: in this one little very small part of the stage.
- 33:57Speaker 2: There wasn't any dance moves. It was all right there,
- 34:00Speaker 2: right in front of the sofa. And they did really
- 34:03Speaker 2: cool stuff. And I get the contemporary dance doesn't need
- 34:06Speaker 2: to be all over the stage. But I felt like
- 34:08Speaker 2: they didn't do anything gigantic that would have warranted these
- 34:11Speaker 2: high scores. Oh, I don't know. Like a 10. I disagree.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I was like, wow, that's a really good dance when
- 34:19Speaker 1: I am just so enthralled. And it's my job to
- 34:22Speaker 1: actually watch the celebs. I just was like, just the
- 34:27Speaker 1: dance in general. I wasn't specifically honed in on him
- 34:32Speaker 1: and his abilities. But I will say, his lifts. So
- 34:36Speaker 1: they had lifts in this routine, which they hadn't had
- 34:39Speaker 1: to do before. And in the package, they showed how
- 34:42Speaker 1: difficult it was for him to do lifts, which I
- 34:44Speaker 1: think is hysterical. But I will say, because... He had lifts.
- 34:49Speaker 1: You know, I'm not focused on him necessarily because Riley
- 34:53Speaker 1: was stealing the show for me, which is easy for
- 34:56Speaker 1: her to do. She's an amazing dancer. Because there were
- 34:59Speaker 1: a lot of lifts and none of the lifts, there
- 35:02Speaker 1: were no missteps there. The transitions were seamless. Because the
- 35:10Speaker 1: lifts went off without a hitch, that shows me that
- 35:14Speaker 1: his dancing was stellar. You know what I mean? Because
- 35:18Speaker 1: he didn't make it seem like, he made it seem
- 35:20Speaker 1: effortless because he was lifting her and doing all of
- 35:23Speaker 1: these really, you know, hard lifts.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Hard things. And Carrie Ann.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Called him the contemporary King, which I love that, you know,
- 35:31Speaker 2: like every week I go in like with high expectations
- 35:34Speaker 2: for certain people always, you know, for, you know, Harry
- 35:37Speaker 2: and Ezra and Jenna and all certain people I go
- 35:39Speaker 2: in with a really high expectation, probably more also. Um,
- 35:42Speaker 2: and then there's people that I'm like, Oh, like, you know,
- 35:45Speaker 2: they'll be fine. They'll be good. He, and then, and
- 35:47Speaker 2: then every week I'm surprised by one person. And this
- 35:50Speaker 2: week it was him last week. It was Julia. And
- 35:53Speaker 2: this week it was Connor. I felt like he was
- 35:55Speaker 2: most improved.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I loved it. He did a great job with acting too.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Like he acted because like sitting on that couch and
- 36:04Speaker 1: like acting like you're actually scared and like that he
- 36:06Speaker 1: was exhausted after a long day and he fell asleep
- 36:09Speaker 1: and oh my gosh. And then when she looked back
- 36:11Speaker 1: at him, I mean, oh my gosh, it was so good.
- 36:15Speaker 1: He ended up getting two tens, two perfect scores from
- 36:19Speaker 1: Derek and from Carrie Ann. Yep. Um, Shirley gave the lowest,
- 36:22Speaker 1: I mean, to be expected. Um, but I'm for real
- 36:26Speaker 1: that dance. I was like, I'm going to have nightmares
- 36:29Speaker 1: again about that. Like for weeks to come, just like
- 36:32Speaker 1: Shirley said, I was like, wow, that was really so good.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Um, okay.
- 36:37Speaker 1: The next dance is Ezra and Danny. And, um, and
- 36:41Speaker 1: I haven't told, we haven't talked about this on the
- 36:43Speaker 1: episode yet. I'm sitting there watching and you know, it's,
- 36:47Speaker 1: it's recorded for me. So I'm watching. And I'm fast
- 36:50Speaker 1: forwarding through the commercials. And it's just, I was like,
- 36:55Speaker 1: why is the commercial taking so long? Like, this is
- 36:58Speaker 1: a really long bit of commercials. I had started it
- 37:03Speaker 1: at the end of Connor's dance. So Connor had just finished.
- 37:07Speaker 1: He got his scores. They go to commercial. 20 freaking
- 37:12Speaker 1: minutes long of commercials. And it comes back. The live
- 37:17Speaker 1: show comes back. with Jackson getting his scores. So I
- 37:21Speaker 1: texted you guys on our group thread and I said,
- 37:25Speaker 1: what just happened? Like all of a sudden I was
- 37:29Speaker 1: at the end of Connor and then I'm seeing Jackson
- 37:31Speaker 1: get his judges scores. I missed Jackson. I didn't know
- 37:35Speaker 1: at the time that I missed Ezra too. So Heather
- 37:37Speaker 1: was like, Ezra was after Connor. Ezra is my favorite.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I freaking missed it because I don't know what happened.
- 37:44Speaker 1: And I went on Google afterwards. So if this is
- 37:47Speaker 1: something that happened to you guys, please comment in our
- 37:50Speaker 1: comments on the Almost Famous podcast on Instagram, please. Please, please, please. Because...
- 37:56Speaker 1: I feel like I was like, is this only happening
- 37:58Speaker 1: to me? Is this all DirecTV? Is this all the
- 38:01Speaker 1: Mountain Time people? Like, what is happening? And I went
- 38:05Speaker 1: on Google. There were people that were already on a
- 38:09Speaker 1: Reddit saying, what just happened? I had 20, 25 minutes
- 38:13Speaker 1: of commercials, and I missed two of the dances.
- 38:15Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 38:17Speaker 1: It's really crazy, and I don't know how it will
- 38:21Speaker 1: play out this week because already.
- 38:26Speaker 1: It's hard to get your votes in from different places
- 38:30Speaker 1: in the country, like the West coast, their live show
- 38:36Speaker 1: starts and already it says voting has closed. So as
- 38:39Speaker 1: at least that's what Heather, our producer was explaining to us. So,
- 38:42Speaker 1: and for me in mountain time, you watch the first
- 38:48Speaker 1: hour and then the second hour it says voting has closed.
- 38:52Speaker 1: So usually I think that's what's what happens. So, you don't,
- 38:56Speaker 1: it depends on where you live in the country for
- 38:57Speaker 1: you on the East coast. You never have that. So
- 39:00Speaker 1: you're always, I.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Always wonder how that worked. Like, was it showing earlier?
- 39:04Speaker 2: I thought maybe on the West coast it was showing at,
- 39:06Speaker 2: you know, five o'clock.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:08Speaker 2: And for you showing at six o'clock, I didn't realize
- 39:11Speaker 2: that you guys really have no ability to vote unless
- 39:13Speaker 2: you're voting kind of blindly. Like you're not voting. You're
- 39:16Speaker 2: voting because you like somebody and you want them to win.
- 39:18Speaker 2: You're not voting because they were somebody who did a
- 39:20Speaker 2: really great dance.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Exactly. And I think that is part of why so
- 39:27Speaker 1: many people with large social media followers that tap into
- 39:31Speaker 1: that and are like really active on TikTok and doing
- 39:34Speaker 1: fun like TikToks throughout the show. Those people are going
- 39:39Speaker 1: to like the second that they can start voting are
- 39:42Speaker 1: going to vote, not the people who are waiting to
- 39:45Speaker 1: watch the dances and then vote on their favorite dance.
- 39:48Speaker 1: It shouldn't be about that. Um, like unless they went
- 39:51Speaker 1: back to two episodes, so they used to be two episodes.
- 39:55Speaker 1: So you'd watch one episode, you'd vote. And you, I
- 39:57Speaker 1: think you had like maybe an hour after the show
- 40:01Speaker 1: ended or something like that to get your votes in,
- 40:03Speaker 1: like whether they were on the computer or on the,
- 40:06Speaker 1: on your phone or texting, whatever. So I feel like
- 40:09Speaker 1: if they could go back to two, then everyone has
- 40:15Speaker 1: the ability to vote. But I didn't even get to
- 40:17Speaker 1: see Ezra and Jackson's dance. So I'm sure for so
- 40:20Speaker 1: many people, I don't know if it's, Hundreds, thousands, tens
- 40:23Speaker 1: of thousands, who knows how many people didn't get to
- 40:26Speaker 1: see that as well. I'm sure we'll be able to
- 40:28Speaker 1: go back on live streaming on YouTube or whatever and
- 40:32Speaker 1: see it today.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but certainly it didn't affect Ezra, but it did
- 40:36Speaker 2: affect Jackson. So you do wonder, like, you know, how
- 40:39Speaker 2: is that fair for him? I think, gosh, people didn't
- 40:43Speaker 2: get to see his dance, so maybe they didn't vote
- 40:44Speaker 2: for him. And I do really watch the dances. I
- 40:47Speaker 2: always give Tyler almost all my votes. And then sometimes
- 40:50Speaker 2: I give one or two to somebody that I thought
- 40:52Speaker 2: were most improved or did something really well or I
- 40:54Speaker 2: love their story, I love their package or something. Ezra's
- 40:57Speaker 2: package was really, really good because there was that whole
- 41:00Speaker 2: TikTok trend. So if you watched last week, you saw
- 41:02Speaker 2: that they had that blade stand. And then all his
- 41:05Speaker 2: community rallied around that. So his community of people that
- 41:09Speaker 2: have disabilities rallied. were doing things on TikTok to support him.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Oh, I love that.
- 41:14Speaker 2: It brought such attention to the community, which he's already doing,
- 41:17Speaker 2: but now we got to like actually see it. So
- 41:20Speaker 2: like it gave me goosebumps when he was talking about it.
- 41:22Speaker 2: I loved that part of it and that he has
- 41:25Speaker 2: like such a great community. And then he talked about
- 41:28Speaker 2: feeling really close to this genre because his mother was
- 41:32Speaker 2: in the movie Saw. And she was very famous from that.
- 41:35Speaker 2: And he used to say that like his friends would say,
- 41:37Speaker 2: did you really like love watching Saw? And he's like, no.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Like my mother was being tortured in the movie. I
- 41:42Speaker 2: didn't like it at all.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Why would I like that? Yeah, not a bit. Like
- 41:48Speaker 2: my mom was very famous for it, but it was
- 41:50Speaker 2: probably hard for him to watch. But they do talk
- 41:52Speaker 2: about him, how he has to play a character. So
- 41:55Speaker 2: this is like an acting gig for him, which he's
- 41:57Speaker 2: not used to. He's an athlete. So talking about that
- 42:00Speaker 2: was going to be a little hard for him, but
- 42:02Speaker 2: he was up for the challenge. But as they were
- 42:04Speaker 2: starting to practice, he was talking about how he was
- 42:09Speaker 2: in pain And they stopped. And he said, like, this
- 42:13Speaker 2: is a common problem for somebody that has the prosthetic
- 42:17Speaker 2: and the stub gets raw sometimes or has problems, gets
- 42:20Speaker 2: a cyst or a blister. And what he normally does
- 42:24Speaker 2: is just stays off of it for like four days
- 42:25Speaker 2: and allow it to heal. But obviously he couldn't do that.
- 42:27Speaker 2: He said it was like getting poked with a jab
- 42:30Speaker 2: with a needle every time he moved. So but he's like,
- 42:34Speaker 2: I'm going to I'm going to work through it. And
- 42:36Speaker 2: they showed it. They showed the blister. And you're like, wow.
- 42:38Speaker 2: If I had that kind of blister on my feet
- 42:40Speaker 2: and I was walking home from a wedding or something,
- 42:44Speaker 2: I'd take my shoes off and I'd be like, I'm done.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I am not wearing this thing anymore. I'm not wearing
- 42:48Speaker 2: these damn shoes anymore. But he can't do that. He
- 42:50Speaker 2: has to dance. And he has to continue to do
- 42:52Speaker 2: this week after week. He doesn't get a four-day break ever.
- 42:55Speaker 1: No, for sure. Well, thank you for filling all those
- 42:57Speaker 1: details in for me. I do know the scores that
- 43:00Speaker 1: he got all nines and an eight from Carrie Ann
- 43:02Speaker 1: and Abba saying that he got his first negative comment.
- 43:06Speaker 1: He needs to work a little on the focus and storytelling.
- 43:08Speaker 2: On the storytelling.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Our rundown says that.
- 43:11Speaker 2: She did make the comment, which is the comment that
- 43:13Speaker 2: I've been thinking about for a long time, that he
- 43:14Speaker 2: doesn't look like he's dancing with a disability. Like he
- 43:17Speaker 2: flows as smoothly and as beautifully as anybody that does
- 43:21Speaker 2: not have a blade as a leg. And I find
- 43:25Speaker 2: that kind of amazing.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Oh, that's why he's my favorite. That's why he's my
- 43:29Speaker 1: favorite to win.
- 43:30Speaker 2: I'm with you and you should be the next bachelor
- 43:32Speaker 2: and all that.
- 43:33Speaker 1: He's not going to be. I literally had a conversation
- 43:35Speaker 1: with Danny when I was there at the show.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 1: How I was like, he needs to be our next bachelor.
- 43:41Speaker 1: And she's like, nope, not happening. You're not getting him.
- 43:43Speaker 1: He's too young. And I'm like, I feel like a
- 43:46Speaker 1: big sister and I'm not going to let him go
- 43:49Speaker 1: through that. And sorry. And I was like, okay, no,
- 43:52Speaker 1: that's so valid. Like, I totally understand you wanting to
- 43:56Speaker 1: like protect him.
- 43:57Speaker 2: He's lived a life that most people his age have
- 44:00Speaker 2: not lived. So I don't know.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I agree. I agree.
- 44:03Speaker 2: His emotional age is way different than his actual age.
- 44:06Speaker 2: But he got great scores. I think he's going to
- 44:08Speaker 2: be around until the end. You know, you and I
- 44:09Speaker 2: both think that, I think.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Okay, so tell me about Jackson and Emma.
- 44:24Speaker 2: So they're playing a pair of jokers. So he has
- 44:28Speaker 2: like the crazy like smile, like the kind of weird
- 44:32Speaker 2: smile they both do. And they're both playing off each
- 44:34Speaker 2: other as these scary, weird, you know, they need to
- 44:37Speaker 2: be weird. And he's not weird. He's just jolly and
- 44:40Speaker 2: joyful and happy all the time. He has the biggest
- 44:42Speaker 2: smile of anybody on the stage. And, like, it's just
- 44:45Speaker 2: so against, like, who he is. He's just not creepy.
- 44:48Speaker 2: So he said he had to really get into kind
- 44:50Speaker 2: of character. And that was the way he was going
- 44:51Speaker 2: to do it. Like, he just had to play this
- 44:53Speaker 2: character and he had to, like, almost live like he
- 44:56Speaker 2: was this character. And I thought he did a really
- 44:59Speaker 2: good job. I mean, I thought they... I mean, he
- 45:04Speaker 2: did all the lifts. He did all the things that
- 45:05Speaker 2: he had to do. And he stayed in character. He
- 45:07Speaker 2: looked creepy. Like I thought he was really, really, really good.
- 45:11Speaker 2: And the judges talked about that. Derek said, I hate clowns,
- 45:15Speaker 2: but I loved this performance and that he was so
- 45:18Speaker 2: committed to being this way. And the way he danced,
- 45:22Speaker 2: like he had this clownish way of dancing and Derek
- 45:26Speaker 2: called it topsy-turvy. So it wasn't like concise. It was
- 45:29Speaker 2: like weird. And It just so worked when you think about, like,
- 45:34Speaker 2: the Joker, like, the Joker in the movies and how, like,
- 45:37Speaker 2: wicked and strange he is.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:39Speaker 2: And, like, how, like, I don't know, the way he
- 45:42Speaker 2: moves is not normal. So, and then Bruno kind of
- 45:46Speaker 2: said the same thing. He said that the Joker is
- 45:48Speaker 2: your trump card. So he thought... Jackson did a great
- 45:51Speaker 2: job and he said he thrived in the chaos and
- 45:54Speaker 2: the Looney Tunes sense of humor and that he, like
- 45:57Speaker 2: I said, he was this, he was a weirdo. Like
- 45:59Speaker 2: he played a weirdo and he did really, really good.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Okay. Let me ask you, because it tells me the
- 46:06Speaker 1: scores that Carrie Ann gave Ezra an eight and she
- 46:09Speaker 1: gave Jackson a nine. Do you feel like that was
- 46:12Speaker 1: just like Ezra usually, you know, I feel like his
- 46:16Speaker 1: performances are, He gets really high scores and well-deserved high scores.
- 46:22Speaker 1: I'm shocked that Carrie-Anne gave Jackson a nine and gave
- 46:25Speaker 1: Ezra an eight. How do you feel about that?
- 46:27Speaker 2: So the only difference I see in the two of theirs' performance,
- 46:33Speaker 2: I thought Jackson did a really good job. He's also
- 46:35Speaker 2: one of my kind of most improved in my head
- 46:38Speaker 2: right now. I thought he did a really good job
- 46:41Speaker 2: of telling the story, the Joker story. I thought Ezra's dance,
- 46:47Speaker 2: he was not a good actor.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 46:49Speaker 2: You have to play a part. Like this whole week
- 46:51Speaker 2: is about playing a part. And I feel like he
- 46:55Speaker 2: didn't play the part. And that's what I think Carrie
- 46:57Speaker 2: Ann said about him. Like she didn't see what the
- 46:59Speaker 2: story was. Although she wasn't convinced. Shirley Ballas said, oh no,
- 47:02Speaker 2: I totally disagree with you on that one. Yeah. But
- 47:05Speaker 2: I did kind of agree with Carrie Ann on that.
- 47:06Speaker 2: And I did feel like Jackson really did like put
- 47:10Speaker 2: himself in character. Like he was in character the whole time.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Like the way he moved was weird. His facial expressions
- 47:15Speaker 2: were weird. I thought he did a really good job
- 47:17Speaker 2: of that. So maybe that was the reason Carrie Ann,
- 47:20Speaker 2: you know, gave him an eight and that one a nine.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I mean, and I feel like that's the beauty of
- 47:24Speaker 1: dance is that you can have the dances that are
- 47:27Speaker 1: spooky and scary and topsy-turvy and you have dances that
- 47:30Speaker 1: are elegant and graceful and you have dances that are
- 47:32Speaker 1: hard-hitting and precise and you know, like all of these
- 47:36Speaker 1: different genres and all of these different types of styles
- 47:39Speaker 1: and however, the choreography is decided by the choreographer. Like,
- 47:43Speaker 1: you know, like it's, it's a great way to showcase
- 47:46Speaker 1: different genres. Um, I feel like Ezra did get a
- 47:51Speaker 1: 72 out of 80 combined and combined with last week
- 47:55Speaker 1: and Jackson got a 67 out of 80. So that
- 47:57Speaker 1: does put Ezra still above Jackson. Um, which I feel
- 48:03Speaker 1: like makes sense. But yeah, I was so bummed. I
- 48:06Speaker 1: was so mad that I.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Was like, wait, what?
- 48:09Speaker 1: I will. I'm going to go back and watch.
- 48:10Speaker 2: You missed two really good dances. I have them on
- 48:15Speaker 2: my DVR. I could call you later and play them
- 48:17Speaker 2: for you. Oh, it's fine.
- 48:18Speaker 1: I'm sure I'll be able to find them on YouTube. Otherwise,
- 48:22Speaker 1: call me on FaceTime. You don't have to worry. Okay,
- 48:25Speaker 1: so Tyler and Sharna were up. And I do have
- 48:28Speaker 1: to say... His dance last week, you know, we were
- 48:33Speaker 1: on such a high with him.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Such a high.
- 48:36Speaker 1: It was so sentimental and special and like once in
- 48:41Speaker 1: a lifetime with him doing a gender reveal on Dancing
- 48:44Speaker 1: with the Stars and telling the world that they were
- 48:47Speaker 1: pregnant and just so happy.
- 48:49Speaker 2: How he lifted his wife up. Cloud nine.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Yes. But they were just so happy. happy.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And it was like the highest high, the pinnacle, right?
- 49:03Speaker 1: So when someone's at a pinnacle, which is kind of
- 49:05Speaker 1: how I feel about Harry Shum, like getting the perfect score,
- 49:08Speaker 1: I wonder what's going to happen next week. But with Tyler,
- 49:12Speaker 1: he's on this high of high, high of all highs
- 49:15Speaker 1: on this show, right? Yep. And I was so worried.
- 49:18Speaker 1: I was like, what's going to happen? Because the bottom
- 49:22Speaker 1: is going to get knocked out. And because the theme
- 49:30Speaker 1: of this show, like the Halloween Horror Nights, is something
- 49:33Speaker 1: that you kind of have to show your acting skills
- 49:36Speaker 1: and he is reality and you know, whatever. Yeah.
- 49:39Speaker 2: I was worried.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I do love his hair on this. Like his look, it.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Completely transformed him. I know. He was unrecognizable. He really was.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Unrecognizable. I, you know, his frame, he's such a big
- 49:57Speaker 1: guy and it's, I'm sure it's so hard to stay
- 50:01Speaker 1: in that frame. Like after not Like these guys, the
- 50:05Speaker 1: pros on the show have been doing it for years
- 50:07Speaker 1: and years and years and years. And they've got the strength,
- 50:09Speaker 1: you know, in all.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Of the muscles that are required.
- 50:13Speaker 1: I just feel like, you know, he has some work
- 50:15Speaker 1: to do in terms of his frame and the judges
- 50:18Speaker 1: called him out on it. They called him out. Go ahead.
- 50:22Speaker 2: I feel like all tall dancers or the majority of
- 50:26Speaker 2: the tall dancers that we've seen on this show, the athletes,
- 50:29Speaker 2: the basketball players, the taller guys all have this problem.
- 50:32Speaker 2: I think they're so used to like leaning down when
- 50:34Speaker 2: they're like women, especially like to meet them where they are.
- 50:38Speaker 2: And it's really hard for them to like ignore that
- 50:41Speaker 2: their head is hitting them right here. And they're looking
- 50:43Speaker 2: at their head.
- 50:44Speaker 1: I mean, can you imagine that? Like, like going through
- 50:47Speaker 1: life and being like, You would look like super egotistical
- 50:52Speaker 1: if you're walking around like with like really good posture.
- 50:54Speaker 2: You're looking over everybody's head.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 50:57Speaker 2: So I think like it's not natural to be looking
- 51:00Speaker 2: over the person's head that you're dancing with. That's exactly
- 51:02Speaker 2: what he would be doing if he didn't come down
- 51:03Speaker 2: a little bit. So he's hunched over a little bit.
- 51:05Speaker 1: I don't blame him.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I feel like he spent his whole life doing that.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Totally agree. But yes, he did get the bottom knocked
- 51:12Speaker 1: out from the wind of the highs of last week.
- 51:16Speaker 2: And he showed his feelings, boy oh boy.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I felt so bad for him. Sharna handled it really well.
- 51:24Speaker 1: He got all sevens except a five from Shirley Ballas.
- 51:28Speaker 1: And I feel like the scores made sense to me.
- 51:33Speaker 1: It just broke my heart for him because I know
- 51:36Speaker 1: how much he wants this also for Sharna, you know,
- 51:40Speaker 1: that he's been having such a great time with Sharna
- 51:43Speaker 1: and he just thoroughly seems to be enjoying the show.
- 51:46Speaker 1: When I talked to him backstage, um, when we were there,
- 51:49Speaker 1: you can just see, you sense the joy of being
- 51:53Speaker 1: surrounded by all these people and being part of it.
- 51:56Speaker 2: So, and I just think like their critiques were not
- 52:00Speaker 2: very harsh at all. They kind of, they all just
- 52:02Speaker 2: kind of said the same thing. You need not to
- 52:04Speaker 2: be leaning over so much. And nobody was, particularly effusive
- 52:08Speaker 2: about things he needed to do better or things he
- 52:11Speaker 2: did badly. So I was a little surprised with the scores.
- 52:14Speaker 2: I thought he was going to get some eights in
- 52:16Speaker 2: there because no one said anything very harsh about what
- 52:20Speaker 2: he was doing.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Except Shirley. She broke out the shoes and did the
- 52:25Speaker 1: little thing with the shoes. But I felt like it
- 52:27Speaker 1: was very constructive criticism. These are the things that you
- 52:32Speaker 1: could work on. It wasn't Like, it wasn't cruel. They
- 52:35Speaker 1: weren't being cruel. They were just like, you know, this
- 52:39Speaker 1: is what you need to work on. And at this
- 52:41Speaker 1: stage in the game, you do probably need to start,
- 52:44Speaker 1: you know, coming up to the, you know, the... whatever
- 52:49Speaker 1: the line is that these other people who are professional, unfortunately,
- 52:55Speaker 1: you have to just step up. And I feel like
- 52:57Speaker 1: he was just, it's.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Just hard for him.
- 52:59Speaker 1: He's not, you know, he's not a dancer. He's a
- 53:01Speaker 1: football player.
- 53:02Speaker 2: And a construction worker, you know, like, and he's an
- 53:06Speaker 2: athlete and he's like, he's programmed to win. Like, like
- 53:09Speaker 2: this is a competition. He wants to win this. So
- 53:11Speaker 2: when he got bad scores, like that felt like losing
- 53:14Speaker 2: a game.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:15Speaker 2: And, like, he was the reason they lost. Did you
- 53:16Speaker 2: see Sharna?
- 53:17Speaker 1: She was like, oh, you know, like, she felt so
- 53:20Speaker 1: bad for him. I just, I do feel like she
- 53:22Speaker 1: handled it really well.
- 53:22Speaker 2: He kind of, like, walked away and then kind of
- 53:24Speaker 2: came back. Yes. He was like, he just had to, like,
- 53:26Speaker 2: take a moment. I could see, like, I got to
- 53:28Speaker 2: take a moment here.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Totally understand. And then, we'll talk about this later. But anyway,
- 53:32Speaker 1: he got 26 out of 40 with 58 out of
- 53:35Speaker 1: 50 combined. And he was at the bottom of the leaderboard. Yeah.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:50Speaker 1: Amber has not been at the bottom of the leaderboard
- 53:53Speaker 1: with Pasha. And this week was no different. She crushed
- 53:58Speaker 1: it again. I mean, the black swan with the red eyes.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Oh my Lord. Good.
- 54:06Speaker 2: Like the story of the black swan.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Oh yes. I love it.
- 54:10Speaker 2: It's so her, like this was the perfect, whoever decide
- 54:14Speaker 2: on this, on this selection. Yeah. like hit the nail
- 54:19Speaker 2: on the head. I mean, it was perfect for her.
- 54:22Speaker 2: And she even said that, that she really related to
- 54:24Speaker 2: the character. Like she felt that, you know, like that
- 54:28Speaker 2: it's the pursuit of perfection is impossible and it can
- 54:31Speaker 2: destroy you. And she's felt that pressure before. That was amazing.
- 54:35Speaker 2: You know what I loved about her package though? I loved,
- 54:37Speaker 2: I feel like we really do know her so well.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Like you've talked about not knowing some people. I felt like, gosh,
- 54:42Speaker 2: I know her so well. And I wasn't like the
- 54:45Speaker 2: biggest fan in the beginning because I feel like ice
- 54:47Speaker 2: skaters have an advantage. And like, I don't want somebody
- 54:49Speaker 2: coming in with that big of an advantage. And like,
- 54:51Speaker 2: I also don't know her. She seemed kind of cold.
- 54:54Speaker 2: I am in love with her now. I love every
- 54:56Speaker 2: story that they tell about her. I like, I want
- 54:59Speaker 2: to give her a hug. Like, gosh, you know, you
- 55:01Speaker 2: are amazing, but boy, you've, you know, you've worked for
- 55:04Speaker 2: it and you've worked through a lot to get to
- 55:06Speaker 2: where you are. But they showed her having her hair
- 55:08Speaker 2: and makeup done. I loved that because I love the
- 55:11Speaker 2: behind the scenes. I wish one time they would show
- 55:14Speaker 2: us the costume makers and show us what that room
- 55:17Speaker 2: looks like or like the fittings or something. And I
- 55:19Speaker 2: also would love them to show like the behind the
- 55:21Speaker 2: scenes of getting the staging ready. I think all of
- 55:24Speaker 2: this behind the scenes and stuff that we all know
- 55:26Speaker 2: is happening back there and it's like an amazing production.
- 55:29Speaker 2: And we just got to see a glimpse of that
- 55:30Speaker 2: last night with the hair and makeup, which I loved.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I, all of it. I love the hair
- 55:35Speaker 1: and makeup, the costumes, the set design, like all of it.
- 55:38Speaker 1: It is, it is, A well-oiled machine. They do such
- 55:42Speaker 1: a good job with it.
- 55:43Speaker 2: And how cute it was, was it that she had
- 55:45Speaker 2: won her first big regional championship competition to this exact
- 55:51Speaker 2: same song. I know. So like she knew it so well,
- 55:53Speaker 2: which I think that really helped her because she had this,
- 55:56Speaker 2: she had movements in her head that she had performed before.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Yeah. I will say I was shocked that she didn't
- 56:02Speaker 1: get a perfect score from someone. Like at least 110.
- 56:04Speaker 2: I agree.
- 56:05Speaker 1: I feel like she should have gotten at least one 10.
- 56:08Speaker 1: She got all nines. And one of the nines was
- 56:12Speaker 1: from Shirley. So that's really good. But I just felt like,
- 56:16Speaker 1: I don't know. I wanted her to get at least
- 56:18Speaker 1: one 10 and she didn't.
- 56:19Speaker 2: I know. I thought Bruno was going to give her
- 56:22Speaker 2: a 10. But Bruno usually follows what Derek and Carrie Ann.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Do in general.
- 56:28Speaker 2: But I really thought like his commentary about how following
- 56:33Speaker 2: the musicality of the song is really difficult. And it
- 56:35Speaker 2: does have like a lot of bangs and like moments
- 56:37Speaker 2: that you need to really hit. And he said they
- 56:39Speaker 2: did it beautifully or perfectly. And I thought that maybe
- 56:43Speaker 2: would have earned them the 10.
- 56:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you're right. She got a score of 36
- 56:48Speaker 1: out of 40 with 74 out of 80 combined. She's
- 56:52Speaker 1: at the top, toward the top of the leaderboard, not
- 56:54Speaker 1: the top, but right below it. I think very, very
- 56:58Speaker 1: well deserved. She did amazing. Um, Laura and Mark are
- 57:02Speaker 1: next and she is so freaking scary. I love when she,
- 57:06Speaker 1: I think she was up in the, in the skybox afterwards.
- 57:09Speaker 1: She was like, I was in character all day long.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Like just be like, people go high and she go staring.
- 57:14Speaker 1: Those contacts. Oh my goodness. She's so scary. I love that.
- 57:25Speaker 1: She's like, Yeah, Halloween, I usually dress sexy. But she
- 57:29Speaker 1: made it look sexy.
- 57:31Speaker 2: She can't not be sexy. She can't not be gorgeous
- 57:35Speaker 2: and sexy.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Yeah, she has blood all over her hands and blood
- 57:38Speaker 1: all over her face and her chest and wherever. And
- 57:40Speaker 1: she still looks so sexy. Glowing red eyes and kind
- 57:42Speaker 1: of icky hair.
- 57:44Speaker 2: She's beautiful.
- 57:46Speaker 1: And... This is not considered a horror movie for me,
- 57:50Speaker 1: The Lost Boys. I love this movie. I kind of
- 57:54Speaker 1: want my kids to watch it because it was one
- 57:56Speaker 1: of my favorite movies when I was younger. All of
- 58:00Speaker 1: the people in this movie, it is such a good movie.
- 58:03Speaker 1: And I love that they did this song. For me,
- 58:06Speaker 1: it was very nostalgic. Just hearing the song took me back.
- 58:12Speaker 1: So I love that they did an old school.
- 58:16Speaker 1: With something nostalgic for us in our 50s. Anyway, so...
- 58:22Speaker 1: She did a contemporary, and I will say, I am
- 58:27Speaker 1: very picky about, like, I'm a couch judge, obviously, and
- 58:33Speaker 1: very picky about feet, and Derek was right on. Like,
- 58:36Speaker 1: in contemporary, unless it's like you have a very flexed foot,
- 58:41Speaker 1: and it's obvious that it's flexed, you need to be
- 58:43Speaker 1: pointing your toes, and there were so many moments when
- 58:46Speaker 1: I was like, oh gosh, her feet, oh gosh, her feet,
- 58:49Speaker 1: you know? So, and you don't really think about those
- 58:54Speaker 1: like little details. Like if you're just watching the dance, it's,
- 58:58Speaker 1: I mean, it was an amazing dance, but I do,
- 59:01Speaker 1: I get caught up in those details a little bit. Yes,
- 59:05Speaker 1: for sure. Like her feet needed to be pointed.
- 59:07Speaker 2: And I don't notice any of that. And when I
- 59:09Speaker 2: get thinking the entire time was how she talked about
- 59:12Speaker 2: in her package that she gets really dizzy and that
- 59:16Speaker 2: spinning around makes her really dizzy and she doesn't feel
- 59:18Speaker 2: like maybe she can do the next move when she's
- 59:20Speaker 2: put down because she's so dizzy. And then all I
- 59:23Speaker 2: could see the entire time was Mark spinning her around
- 59:26Speaker 2: like multiple times and putting her down. I'm like, there
- 59:28Speaker 2: she goes. She's going to die. She's going to fall.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Oh, and yes, you're so right.
- 59:33Speaker 2: I was like, you're so right.
- 59:35Speaker 1: And I went back to my season.
- 59:37Speaker 2: So many spins.
- 59:38Speaker 1: So many. They were really good. But you're right. Like
- 59:42Speaker 1: I was a dancer, but I wasn't a trained like
- 59:44Speaker 1: ballerina and wasn't like I did not. I was not
- 59:48Speaker 1: trained in that. And so when I danced, like when
- 59:51Speaker 1: Louie would spin me, I'm like, I get so dizzy.
- 59:53Speaker 1: And to come out of it and like. go into
- 59:56Speaker 1: another part of the dance and make it look like
- 59:58Speaker 1: you're not dizzy.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: Where are you?
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Well, especially the one where Mark is like holding her
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: by the waist. Like she's like hanging down like a,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: like a rag doll.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: And she's going around.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: It was like, she was on one of those, like
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: a roller, like a ride that you go to at
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: the fair or whatever. And yeah, Oh my gosh.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: I was like, but I was also thinking that like
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Shirley Ballas, Mark's mother is the judge. Like he wants
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: to be perfect because he's going to hear about it
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: like after the show. So he, he did a routine
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: that was really, really hard and like really like dramatic.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: And she played the part perfectly. So did he, of course.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: And I think like he had to do that stuff
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: to that. He had to torture her a little bit
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: because he had to get a good score. Yeah.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I mean, she did do great. I feel like there
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: were definitely moments where, you know, there were some details
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: that were missed out on. I have to say, here
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: we are. The fact that she was like, oh, I
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: just lost my thought. That happens to me all the time.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Me too.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: I'm like, who are we talking about? I mean, the fact.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: That she admitted to that, which she's never done, I
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: don't feel like. She admitted to it and she's like,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: and it's gone. Okay, I have to find it in
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: my notes.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Somebody else talk. I know. Start talking, Derek.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I was like, I feel seen. I feel so seen. Oh, gosh.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: That was hilarious.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: She also was talking about how she's not an actress
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: and she was nervous about this week because Not only
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: does she have to act, she has to do a
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: new kind of dance. She has to do a new
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: dance with lots of spins where she gets dizzy. And
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Mark's mom is there. So like, holy cow, so much
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: pressure and stress. But she always has a smile on
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: her face. She always looks like so joyful and grateful
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: to be there. And I just, I love it. Again,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: I feel like she will be in the final. I
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: feel like she is.
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: People love her.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: She is just showing just everyone that you can come
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: in without a lick of dancing experience and become, like,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: make it look like you know exactly what you're doing.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: And I actually thought she was a really good actress.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: I thought she did an amazing job. I think that
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: she has, you know, Joey... from Bachelor, just had a
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: little acting gig. I think that could be her next thing.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: I think she's really good.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I agree.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: Other than her accent being extremely heavy and sometimes hard
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: to understand.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe not that. She'd have to play an Irish person.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: There's no question about that.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: I don't think she needs an acting degree or an
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: acting gig because I think her modeling, if you saw
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: her last post, oh my God, like every single picture
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: in her last carousel I was like, wow. And they're
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: all different looks. You have to look at it.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I have to look at it again.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: She is stunning. She will not need for any kind
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: of work in the future, wherever it is. Anyway, she
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: got two eights, a nine and a seven. And that
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: put her at 32 out of 40 with a 67
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: out of 80 combined. So it was kind of higher
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: on the leaderboard. So I always take a picture of
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Of the leaderboard.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Oh, I'm so glad you did. I did not.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Every time I watch the show, I want to be
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: able to look back on it. So the leaderboard was
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Harry was at the top. He was number one. Amber second.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Jenna Dewan and Val. Ezra, Connor, Jackson, Maura. Actually, she was.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: I mean, she was tied for, I don't know, whatever.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Sixth or something. And then Julia and Tatiana and Tyler and... Unfortunately,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: the final three on stage were Tatiana, Tyler, and Jackson.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: I had said last week that I thought maybe it
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: was going to be the last week for Jackson and Connor.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: And unfortunately, it was Jackson and Tyler. And, you know,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: as Bachelor Nation, obviously, all of us were rooting for you, Tyler.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: And voting. I did my 10 votes every single night.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: I know. He did. such a great job. Like again,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: sorry again. Um, anyway, he did such a great job.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I'm so proud of him for just getting out of
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: his comfort zone for, you know, being so lighthearted and
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: fun to watch. Like even though he, he truly, you
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: could tell loves the show and loved being a part
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: of it. So it was really sad. Um, to see
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: him go like at the end there, they asked Jackson, like,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: what has this show meant to you? And, you know,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: he went on and on and, and then they got
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: to Tyler and he's like, yeah, you know, whatever. It
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: was like one word responses. He was heartbroken.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: He was really having a hard time processing it. You
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: could tell when he got the not great scores. And
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: then I just feel like he is devastated. He loved
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: being there. And I think his fiance loved him being
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: there because she's a dancer.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Oh, totally.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: Like they were doing this together. I felt like they
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: were doing this together. Like I never felt like he
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: was alone. Like he had her. She was there every
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: single week smiling in the front row. She was part
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: of it last week. This was a big letdown after
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: last week. It was a big fall. Huge.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: That's what I was worried about. I was like, oh,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I hate it when they are up so high. You
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: know that something's going to happen to knock them down.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: And it did. It just breaks my.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Heart for him.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I know. I know he'll be on the cruise, so
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: we'll both get to see him on the cruise.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: Which is nice that we get to see him on
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: the cruise. There was a chance he wasn't going to
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: make it to that. So that's the icing on the
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: cake for us. Probably not for him, but for us
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: it is.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know. I feel bad. I think it
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: was probably time for him to go. You know, I
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: wish he could have stayed one or two more weeks longer.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: But we're getting down to the nitty gritty. And I
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: feel like this is when they're going to be making
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: some hard cuts, if I had to guess. Maybe Tatiana
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: or Julia next week.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Yep. Connor could go sometime.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Yeah. And Connor, Disney week is next week, which is
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: always a favorite.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: And with Cynthia Erivo, like, come on, she's going to
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: bring so much to the show.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: I know. I know.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: I am so like, okay. So like, like the Disney
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: week is always so joyful. And so that might be
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: why I love it. And they always have like the,
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: I call them the solid gold dancers, like the troupe.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: Always just something really cool.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Solid goal dancers.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Oh, my God. That takes me back. I'm totally dating myself,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: aren't I? Because nobody knows what that is other than
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: you and I, I think.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: I do. Oh, my God. I love it.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Not leaving me out there all by myself. No, that's funny.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: So I feel like just the theatrics of Disney week
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: just makes me happy.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: I love it. Same.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: And it just, I mean, a Disney movie, it just
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: makes you feel good. We're both big fans of Disney.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: And I was on Broadway for one whole night, by
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: the way. I was on Aladdin.
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: Amazing. I know that. I know that's so cool.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: So I feel like a kinship to this. For sure.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Three minutes on stage.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: Yes. I love Disney. So next week, remember everyone that
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars will be airing on Monday night.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: So make sure that you tune in. And then, of course,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: visit us the very next day on Tuesday next week.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: for our most dramatic dance floor ever podcast. I don't,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I'm assuming Gianna will be back. It's been lovely to
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: have you, Joan. Nice seeing you.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: And have a great birthday. Have so much fun.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: And tell my friend Ryan I said hi.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: I will. But thank you for joining us, everyone. Thanks
