SPEAKER_01: Like this was something that Jesus practiced, okay, for 18 years.

SPEAKER_01: We have a little bit of what he did over that 18-year period.

SPEAKER_01: And this is something that if you do not understand, it can it can make your prayers seem as though they're not powerful enough because there's some things that are missing.

SPEAKER_01: Now, this is something that I have studied, and I am telling you, I have used this to change every aspect of my life.

SPEAKER_01: I am going to, we're going to take a look at it and we are going to meditate together in real time.

SPEAKER_01: Now, the many of you read four chapters of your Bible a day.

SPEAKER_01: So this is not a scripture you've never seen, but you know how we are.

SPEAKER_01: We come with hearts that are hungry, hearts that want to learn.

SPEAKER_01: We know that even though we know it, we can quote it, we've memorized it, we may have even taught from it.

SPEAKER_01: If God was to give us a verse and say, study this verse every single day till Jesus comes back, we will still be learning new things from it.

SPEAKER_01: Let me read, let me read the verse, and then we're gonna we're gonna work on this together.

SPEAKER_01: We're gonna look at four things, and this is very interesting because this talked about Jesus when he was 12.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, many of us didn't do this when we were 12, we didn't do it when we're teenagers, we didn't do it when we're young adults.

SPEAKER_01: Like whenever we start, that's our start date.

SPEAKER_01: And Jesus increased in wisdom, in stature, in excuse me, in favor with God and favor with men.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so he grew in wisdom, in stature, in favor with God, in favor with men.

SPEAKER_01: Now, I almost want to start doing cartwheels to start unpacking this, but I'm gonna restrain myself from for a second.

SPEAKER_01: But you see, these are four things that were the curriculum of Jesus, and if it worked for him, it will work for us.

SPEAKER_01: So let me walk you through.

SPEAKER_01: Let me walk you through what we do when we meditate.

SPEAKER_01: Now, so as Christians, we have been called to meditate.

SPEAKER_01: It's all over the scripture, the invitation to meditate.

SPEAKER_01: But when God tells you to come meditate, he also tells you how he wants you to meditate.

SPEAKER_01: So meditating is not about emptying your mind, meditation is about filling your mind with the word of God, it's about saying the word of God out of your mouth, it's about painting pictures with the word of God, it's about immersing yourself with the word of God till your mind is changed.

SPEAKER_01: Now, you've heard me say this many times that a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian, right?

SPEAKER_01: But a Christian who will not meditate is a defeated Christian, even if that Christian prays.

SPEAKER_01: In fact, you will find that a lot of times when you pray, God will send you back to his word.

SPEAKER_01: When you're reading his word, he'll send you back to prayer.

SPEAKER_01: Because we need to hold both of them.

SPEAKER_01: Remember, we are those people who are mature enough to hold the and.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, we know it's not just prayer and it's not just the word.

SPEAKER_01: It's those two things and many more things.

SPEAKER_01: So when we pray, when we meditate, what are the things we do in our time of meditation?

SPEAKER_01: We pray for understanding of the word.

SPEAKER_01: We write it out, we write the scripture out that we're we're meditating on so we can slow our minds enough, focus our minds on what the word of God is saying.

SPEAKER_01: We read the word of God, right?

SPEAKER_01: So we read whatever it is we need to meditate on.

SPEAKER_01: And this is reading to understand.

SPEAKER_01: This is reading to unpack so we can understand.

SPEAKER_01: And so, in the process of doing that, we can read it from many translations, we can read it and look up all the definitions of the words that are in the verse.

SPEAKER_01: So we can pray, we pray for understanding for God to unlock the scriptures, we pray, we we write it out, we can read it, we can declare it out of our mouths, we can visualize it, right?

SPEAKER_01: So let's um gonna open this up in let's see what translation we pull it up because I want to use one that uses the word grow.

SPEAKER_01: The new living translation says Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and favor with all the people.

SPEAKER_01: Father, we pray that you unpack your word.

SPEAKER_01: There's so much wisdom, revelation, understanding in your word, and who can understand your word except by your spirit?

SPEAKER_01: We want to know you better, we want to know who we are in you better, we want to know your way of doing things so we can do it like that and create results that are signs and wonders.

SPEAKER_01: Spirit of the living God, the Bible calls you our teacher.

SPEAKER_01: So now we've done the first part, which is pray.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature, in favor with God and all the people, right?

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so now this is very interesting because there are many parts to this scripture.

SPEAKER_01: So let's take a look at it.

SPEAKER_01: There's Jesus, there's grew, there's wisdom, stature, favorite God, favorite people.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Jesus grew, wisdom, stature, favorite God, favorite people.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, now without going into the six areas, let's go into the six areas.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so the starting theme is Jesus.

SPEAKER_01: So this scripture wasn't talking about a prophet, this scripture was not talking about just some character in the Bible.

SPEAKER_01: This scripture was talking about Jesus.

SPEAKER_01: It's important so we understand this, okay?

SPEAKER_01: Now, who is Jesus?

SPEAKER_01: Well, Jesus is the sinless son of God, Jesus was the express image of God.

SPEAKER_01: Jesus lived is someone who came to the earth and lived as our example, okay?

SPEAKER_01: Because he left divinity aside and took on the you know the like likeness of a man.

SPEAKER_01: He came to be our example.

SPEAKER_01: Like, oh, you've done the Adam life, but let me show you the God kind of life you were called to live.

SPEAKER_01: Um, and you know, the Bible says he had the spirit without measure, he was somebody who had a great assignment.

SPEAKER_01: His assignment was to um to set humanity free.

SPEAKER_01: Humanity had been in bondage this whole time under the jurisdiction of Satan.

SPEAKER_01: He came to set us free.

SPEAKER_01: This is the this is the person, all the other things we're going to read about is about.

SPEAKER_01: And Jesus rocked his destiny so well, so well, that when he was done in John chapter 17, verse 4, the Bible says that he said, Father, I glorified you on the earth by completing down to the last detail what you assigned me to do.

SPEAKER_01: Jesus is the one who the father spoke over him and said, This is my beloved son in whom I'm well pleased.

SPEAKER_01: This is this Jesus.

SPEAKER_01: So when you think about this, right?

SPEAKER_01: It says, so all the things we're reading about are about this Jesus.

SPEAKER_01: So if I want to be a person who fulfills my destiny, I should probably follow what he did.

SPEAKER_01: If I want to be a person who lives a life that is a sign of wonder, I probably should follow what he did.

SPEAKER_01: In fact, Jesus was about to pray a prayer, he said, I thank you, Lord, because you answer me always.

SPEAKER_01: Jesus didn't have prayer failures.

SPEAKER_01: And so if I want to have don't I don't want to have prayer failures, I should probably do what Jesus did.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I'm gonna be like Jesus.

SPEAKER_01: You want to be like I want to be like Jesus.

SPEAKER_01: So this is what the Bible says.

SPEAKER_01: Jesus, this Jesus we just talked about, grew.

SPEAKER_01: What Jesus grew, like he was a sinless son of God, he had a great assignment.

SPEAKER_01: There were angels who were following him from when he was born, there's prophecy over him, there's all these things, and he had to grow.

SPEAKER_01: And if he had to grow, you and I will not escape growing.

SPEAKER_01: If Jesus had to grow, we will not escape it.

SPEAKER_01: So the thing of I want to read a book because I'm not really like when I was younger, that's when I did all these things.

SPEAKER_01: Listen, Jesus had to grow.

SPEAKER_01: Jesus had to grow.

SPEAKER_01: If we're gonna be people who complete our assignment, we grow.

SPEAKER_01: If we're going to be people who can look at God and say, Father, I glorified you on the earth by completing down to the last detail what you assigned me to do, we need to grow.

SPEAKER_01: We don't get to say, I used to read, I used to burn.

SPEAKER_01: No, you listen, there was there was a day, there was there was a day.

SPEAKER_01: This was at a women's conference.

SPEAKER_01: I was teaching, okay?

SPEAKER_01: And I was trying to talk about personal development, okay?

SPEAKER_01: So I put a picture of Bill Gates, I put a picture of Max Zuckerberg, and I put a picture of Mark Cuban, and I'm like, okay, so this one reads three hours a day, that one reads, you know, X number of books a month, this one and all that stuff.

SPEAKER_01: And I was like, you know, and and I read 52 books a year, right?

SPEAKER_01: A book a week.

SPEAKER_01: And the following year, I got to November and I was 12 books short.

SPEAKER_01: And I was like, that's okay.

SPEAKER_01: I mean, like, I read all these books, I read 36 books, I'd be all right.

SPEAKER_01: This is what God asked me.

SPEAKER_01: He said, When you were in medical school, you had books this big, and if you needed to stay all night reading, you would stay up all night reading.

SPEAKER_01: But now it's your destiny that you're reading for, and now you're full of excuses.

SPEAKER_01: I was like, What?

SPEAKER_01: He's like, medical school was important enough for you to read as much as was required.

SPEAKER_01: You didn't stop when you were tired, you stopped when you were done.

SPEAKER_01: But now that's your destiny, you pick and choose when you read.

SPEAKER_01: Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to give anybody a formula to say thou shalt read one book a week.

SPEAKER_01: This was my own deal with you know, okay.

SPEAKER_01: So Jesus had to grow.

SPEAKER_01: It is deception that we people of destiny will be the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath, and all this stuff, and we won't grow.

SPEAKER_01: If the sinless son of God cannot escape it, we will not escape it.

SPEAKER_01: So multidimensional, he grew in wisdom, he grew in stature, he grew in favor with God, he grew in favor with people.

SPEAKER_01: Now, this happened to me three days ago.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so this is hot off the press.

SPEAKER_01: So I'm sitting and I'm listening to a teaching about favor, okay?

SPEAKER_01: And it's something I've never really taken seriously.

SPEAKER_01: Like I've never really taken favor seriously.

SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I know about it, I expect it some kind of way, but I've never said I'm going to gain mastery of this concept.

SPEAKER_01: Like I, you know, I just never did.

SPEAKER_01: It wasn't just something that was top of mind for me in that way.

SPEAKER_01: And so as this person was talking, God then asked me a question.

SPEAKER_01: That's kind of what made me go back to the scriptures, keep going at it.

SPEAKER_01: He said, You treat favor so lightly.

SPEAKER_01: Meanwhile, it was 25% of Jesus' curriculum.

SPEAKER_01: I was like, whoo, we what I'm just trying to chill and listen to a message.

SPEAKER_01: I'm not I'm not here for all this.

SPEAKER_01: He's like, it was 25% of Jesus' curriculum, and you treat it lightly.

SPEAKER_01: Jesus had this as 25% of and that's favor with men.

SPEAKER_01: There's also favor with God, like favor as a concept was 50%, but favor with men, 25% of his curriculum, a fourth of his curriculum.

SPEAKER_01: So what do you think I came up with?

SPEAKER_01: I gotta grow.

SPEAKER_01: I have to grow in this area.

SPEAKER_01: I have to, because listen, if Jesus had to grow in it and we don't grow in it, it will cost us for every if every one of these things we refuse to learn.

SPEAKER_01: There's an opportunity cost.

SPEAKER_01: There are things in the word of God that are promises that you might be quoting and you will never see because you have but you don't have the growth to handle it, you don't have the growth to attract it, you don't have the growth, you don't have the expectation, you don't have you don't have any of that stuff.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Jesus grew.

SPEAKER_01: And the funny thing is, this was written when he was about 12, and then he didn't surface again till he was 30.

SPEAKER_01: So we don't really know a whole lot about what happened, but this we know he grew, and this we know he grew in these four areas.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so so here's the deal.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so Jesus grew in wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: Like if you will be a person who will pray, if you will be a person who will give, if you will be a person who will tithe, if you will do all of those things, you owe it to yourself to grow in wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: And because you can see that the growth is multidimensional, you can see that if I grow excessively in one area, it doesn't make up for the lack of growth in another.

SPEAKER_01: If I grow in my prayer life, but I refuse to go after the acquisition of wisdom, I won't have wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: And whatever is the opportunity cost of not having wisdom now becomes an issue I have to deal with.

SPEAKER_01: Multi-dimensional growth.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay, so it says Jesus grew in wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: Is there a place for prayer to acquire wisdom?

SPEAKER_01: Yes, because the Bible is a closed book, the Bible is written like your Bible, anyway, is in English, right?

SPEAKER_01: And we can memorize it and we can read it and we can do all of these things, but it is by the spirits we can pull divine knowledge, understanding, and revelation from this book.

SPEAKER_01: So prayer is needed, right?

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so so there's prayer for wisdom, then there is the raw material of wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: What is the raw material of wisdom?

SPEAKER_01: It is the word of God.

SPEAKER_01: If you like to pray, like to read the word of God.

SPEAKER_01: If you want to fulfill destiny, fall in love with reading the word of God.

SPEAKER_01: If you are going to be a person who will be a sign and wonder, you need to love reading the word of God.

SPEAKER_01: You need to love speaking it out of your mouth, you need to love meditating on it, you need to love expecting it to happen.

SPEAKER_01: The word of God is the raw material for wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: So there's prayer for wisdom, there's reading the word and meditating in the word and studying the word for wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: There is hanging out with wise people for wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: The Bible says in Proverbs 13, 20, walk with the wise and become wise.

SPEAKER_01: So I curate my relationships, I find where the people who do for fun what I'm trying to spend all my energy doing, and I put myself there.

SPEAKER_01: Because the law of relationship is a law of wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: If I put myself among wise people, I become wise.

SPEAKER_01: Do you see that?

SPEAKER_01: So I pray for wisdom, I give wisdom the raw material, I put myself in the right places with wise people.

SPEAKER_01: By extension, I remove myself from the presence of fools, according to the words definition of fools.

SPEAKER_01: And then I practice my wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: Because what you use grows.

SPEAKER_01: I practice making wise decisions, decisions based on the word of God.

SPEAKER_01: I practice making plans, plans based on the word of God.

SPEAKER_01: I practice acting like the word of God, right?

SPEAKER_01: I'm practicing wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: So I pray, I engage with the word, I put myself among wise people, I put in the reps.

SPEAKER_01: Growing in wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: What is the opposite?

SPEAKER_01: The opposite is I don't pray.

SPEAKER_01: And if I pray, maybe I only pray for my needs and stuff.

SPEAKER_01: I never pray for wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: I never pray to understand the word.

SPEAKER_01: I never pray to know God and His ways.

SPEAKER_01: It's just like, Lord, give me my shoe, give me new shoe, give me husband, give me this, give me that, I'm done in Jesus' name.

SPEAKER_01: So if I don't pray, then I'm giving up wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: If I choose to hang out with people who are not wise, people who are foolish by the word of God, then I'm giving up wisdom, right?

SPEAKER_01: If I don't practice my wisdom, I'm not growing in wisdom.

SPEAKER_01: And when I do that, I have removed 25% of my curriculum.

SPEAKER_01: And it's not that, oh, if I don't get wisdom, then I just won't be a sign and a wonder.

SPEAKER_01: There's no in the world, there's no neutrality.

SPEAKER_01: You're either in the kingdom of God or the kingdom of Satan.

SPEAKER_01: You're either moving forward or you're moving backwards.

SPEAKER_01: If Jesus didn't, if Jesus required growing in favor with people to fulfill his destiny, how in the world do we think we can fulfill our own destinies without people?

SPEAKER_01: Because who's helping us accomplish our destiny?

SPEAKER_01: Okay, but here's the deal the first revelation here to me when I meditate on this is Jesus needed people, the sinless Son of God needed people.

SPEAKER_01: The same Jesus who could heal the sick, raise the dead, had a solid prayer life, and all that stuff, couldn't get away with not growing in favor of people.

SPEAKER_01: So let's talk about two things with favor with people.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, and and the first thing here is you know well, maybe I'll keep the first thing as a last thing, but let me show you a good starting point.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, there are a certain kind you're you need to be a certain kind of person to have favor with people, okay?

SPEAKER_01: And we can find your curriculum for favor with people in Galatians chapter 5, verse 22.

SPEAKER_01: So the Bible says that the fruit of the spirit is love.

SPEAKER_01: So I want you to imagine a person who has love, joy, peace, long suffering-that's another word for patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, integrity, gentleness, and self-control.

SPEAKER_01: How many of you, if you met this person, this person will find favor in your sights?

SPEAKER_01: If you met this person and you had the opportunity to do something for them, you would.

SPEAKER_01: In fact, if you met this person, you will start looking for how to help them.

SPEAKER_01: This person walks in love, they're full of joy, they have peace, they are patient, they are kind, they are good, they are faithful, they are gentle, and they have self-control.

SPEAKER_01: So if you want to be a person who finds favor, your growth curriculum for finding favor with people is Galatians 5.22.

SPEAKER_01: You practice loving people, you practice being patient with people, you practice having joy in the midst of chaos, you practice being kind, you practice being good, you practice self-control.

SPEAKER_01: Like my pastor says, take your bed, put it against the wall, and the only place left is the right side.

SPEAKER_01: This is why, for instance, on the rise and shine, when we come, we set ourselves up for joy.

SPEAKER_01: We show up in the morning, the first thing we do is gratitude.

SPEAKER_01: Proverbs 4:18, the path of the just shines brighter and brighter.

SPEAKER_01: So it does, it may look like there are obstacles and all, but my portion is brighter.

SPEAKER_01: Why do we spend an extraordinary amount of time meditating on that scripture?

SPEAKER_01: Because it puts us in a state where we can have joy, and when you have joy, you are a magnet for people, for opportunities, for all of these things.

SPEAKER_01: Okay, so if I'm gonna walk in favor, what is one of the things that I must do?

SPEAKER_01: And it's the fruit of the spirit.

SPEAKER_01: The Holy Spirit lives on the inside of you, and he keeps nudging you to do those things.

SPEAKER_01: In fact, yesterday, um, I got an alert.

SPEAKER_01: We had um uh someone in my family had a procedure done, and I got an alert that something that was supposed to be covered by insurance was like$1,800 or something.

SPEAKER_01: They're like, Oh, your new bill is$1,800.

SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, what is this?

SPEAKER_01: And God in that moment was like, you have two choices.

SPEAKER_01: You can let this this thing distract you and you go off on a tangent, or you can focus and just have fun in my presence and address it, it'll still be there later.

SPEAKER_01: God was like, you can have joy and keep your peace and all of that, or you can go get or you can go start trying to figure this out and getting annoyed and all of those kinds of things.

SPEAKER_01: So God is always that you want to say something, and God's like, don't say it.

SPEAKER_01: Every time you've said something told me, you have to start learning to recognize when God is talking to you because he talks to everybody.

SPEAKER_01: So if I want to be this person who grows in favor, what is one of the things I must do?
