- 2:05Speaker 1: get from me. But the YouTube channel is quickly approaching
- 2:12Speaker 1: twenty four thousand, so once we get past that hump,
- 2:15Speaker 1: it'll only be a g to go, and I think
- 2:18Speaker 1: we can do that. So again, if you enjoy the content,
- 2:23Speaker 1: engage with the content, share the content with other hip
- 2:27Speaker 1: hop heads, because I'm really about the music. Fifty cents p.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Diddy documentary just dropped in. Yes I'm gonna watch it,
- 2:38Speaker 1: but I'm not here to talk about it unless y'all
- 2:42Speaker 1: want me to.
- 2:42Speaker 2: So there you have it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But what we're here to talk about today is a
- 2:48Speaker 1: feature that I plan to do at the top of
- 2:51Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, and then kind of got distracted and
- 2:54Speaker 1: got into some other things. But then I made up
- 2:58Speaker 1: that ground by first dropping an episode that Kate gave
- 3:02Speaker 1: you month to month releases that I thought were great,
- 3:07Speaker 1: and then last month, obviously I gave you the best
- 3:10Speaker 1: of October. Now that we're in December, we're in December.
- 3:15Speaker 1: If you're from the future making your ass out of here, man,
- 3:18Speaker 1: you already know, man, you already got nas in Primo.
- 3:22Speaker 1: You know what it sounds like. But as of this recording,
- 3:26Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about November. We had a couple of
- 3:28Speaker 1: releases from November that were pretty dope and some that
- 3:32Speaker 1: have impacted my Best of the Year episode, which is
- 3:37Speaker 1: right around the corner. First up, Shae Nowah and Loved
- 3:43Speaker 1: the Genius dropped an album together called Desired Crowns This
- 3:50Speaker 1: but well, first of all, both fencies, that's what we
- 3:54Speaker 1: say with the MC's that are the ladies are known
- 3:58Speaker 1: on the underground Shaye Noir for her production as well
- 4:04Speaker 1: as some very dope albums and EPs. Across the years,
- 4:08Speaker 1: she's appeared in one or two of my Best of
- 4:11Speaker 1: the Year list.
- 4:13Speaker 2: She may appear again.
- 4:14Speaker 1: She's dropped a number of projects, some which were cool,
- 4:18Speaker 1: one I really like, but now she has one with
- 4:20Speaker 1: Love the Genius, who is also coming off of an
- 4:23Speaker 1: album she dropped this year that I'm not gonna lie.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I didn't necessarily care for that much, and I don't
- 4:31Speaker 1: know why. I just I wanted her to flex a
- 4:35Speaker 1: little bit more on the bars. But on this project
- 4:39Speaker 1: that we're here to talk about today, Shane Noir loved
- 4:43Speaker 1: the genius, desired crowns. The ladies came. They pulled up
- 4:48Speaker 1: exactly what I was expecting from love to genius on
- 4:51Speaker 1: her album is here. And not to say that her
- 4:54Speaker 1: album is the worst, you know, I just think it's
- 4:57Speaker 1: more personal stories and it just was than what I
- 5:00Speaker 1: was expecting, and I wound up just being like, oh,
- 5:02Speaker 1: it's cool, but this this is different. If you've heard
- 5:07Speaker 1: the I guess you could call it lead single or
- 5:11Speaker 1: the song to me that got me a little excited
- 5:16Speaker 1: for this album called Black Girl. This album has eleven songs.
- 5:22Speaker 1: It's only thirty three minutes. But when I say, they
- 5:26Speaker 1: make it count with the majority of the tracks here,
- 5:31Speaker 1: if not all, they absolutely do. It's a very dope
- 5:36Speaker 1: album for anybody saying, yo, I'm tired of the Cardi
- 5:40Speaker 1: B's and the Megan THEE Stallions and you know, the
- 5:43Speaker 1: glow Rillas or whoever and what happened to the ladies
- 5:46Speaker 1: that spit his tool.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Them press play it's it next up? While a everything
- 5:57Speaker 2: is a lot. Now.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I have a complicated history with Wila as a fan
- 6:02Speaker 1: of hip hop and as a fan of his. I
- 6:06Speaker 1: always felt like, wile A is nicer than you think.
- 6:11Speaker 1: That's some some know, but Wila is nicer than you think.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And when I say that is those who know have
- 6:19Speaker 1: had the mixtapes from the past, who know to Wila,
- 6:23Speaker 1: who is not only a dope poet, right and spoken
- 6:26Speaker 1: word or whatever, but also when he combines that with
- 6:31Speaker 1: music that says something beyond I'm trying to make a
- 6:35Speaker 1: radio hit. So a lot of times he could have
- 6:38Speaker 1: a good radio hit, and I always felt some kind
- 6:40Speaker 1: of way like it's cool, but your strength is something else.
- 6:46Speaker 1: And I would have loved to hear an album where
- 6:49Speaker 1: he balances both. But I think for Wila, he's doing
- 6:54Speaker 1: what he's success been successful at. And with every album
- 6:58Speaker 1: he always always has a radio hit. But every time
- 7:01Speaker 1: I try to go listen to a new album, the
- 7:05Speaker 1: radio hit is the thing I like, and then the
- 7:07Speaker 1: majority of it I don't, but not not this one.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Everything is a lot, It's not going to give you
- 7:14Speaker 1: boom back. It's not going to give you open mic
- 7:17Speaker 1: poetry night, none of that stuff that's rond bars. But
- 7:22Speaker 1: what it is, it is it's hard to describe because
- 7:30Speaker 1: it's perfect for what its purpose is.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Right there is what that title say.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Everything is a lot So there's a lot of reflection, right,
- 7:41Speaker 1: mostly as it relates to relationships, but not necessarily just
- 7:44Speaker 1: relationships with women, but just people life, the job, you know.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But the production relies heavy on familiar samples. But I'm
- 8:00Speaker 1: not talking about shiny suit era, you know, loop that
- 8:03Speaker 1: joint and put it on.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I mean like recreating joints.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Like My favorite was the first song that dropped, which
- 8:11Speaker 1: is called Where to Start, where it's you know, SWV singing.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I'm not on the song, I mean it's their song.
- 8:23Speaker 1: It's from a song, you know, it's from a hook
- 8:27Speaker 1: of an SWV song, you know, but someone else is
- 8:30Speaker 1: singing it, but he's singing it, so it basically sounds
- 8:35Speaker 1: like Coco and them are singing it. And I know
- 8:37Speaker 1: some people say, well just get them, but there's something
- 8:40Speaker 1: about that that works because it still feels like it right,
- 8:44Speaker 1: And I don't know all the details. Somebody might say, oh,
- 8:47Speaker 1: Coco is singing and there too. I don't know, man,
- 8:49Speaker 1: I don't know. Song sounds dope. There are a lot
- 8:51Speaker 1: of records like that, like the Joint, Belly, especially the Joint.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And I mean, I just this is something I like
- 9:00Speaker 2: a lot, The.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Joint with Leon Thomas, Like, while they perfected the radio
- 9:09Speaker 1: play singles, he can eat off this album if you're
- 9:12Speaker 1: paying attention. So if you like those types of records
- 9:16Speaker 1: that kind of talk about relationships and blend a little
- 9:20Speaker 1: R and B, but there's still a little skill level
- 9:24Speaker 1: in wordplay in which is being presented, this might be
- 9:28Speaker 1: for you.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Now.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'm not saying there are no skips, because there are
- 9:31Speaker 1: absolutely some songs I'm like, nope, not that one, not
- 9:35Speaker 1: that one either, But the majority the songs I like,
- 9:40Speaker 1: I damn they love them. And I'm again between Shay
- 9:45Speaker 1: Nowir and Love the Geniuses album that released in November
- 9:51Speaker 1: and this album also they really got me looking at
- 9:56Speaker 1: my best of the year, like.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Is it recent?
- 10:00Speaker 1: And see bias because both of these joints might have
- 10:04Speaker 1: to bump two other albums, But we'll see what happens
- 10:07Speaker 1: at the end. We'll see next up, Cabin in the
- 10:15Speaker 1: Water Day Last Soul Day La Soul has returned as
- 10:20Speaker 1: a part of the mass Appeal rollout of seven Icons
- 10:26Speaker 1: seven Legends. Legend has its series, and right here on
- 10:30Speaker 1: this channel, I'll be reviewing the series, but we're just
- 10:34Speaker 1: waiting for that NAS and Primo to drop before I
- 10:37Speaker 1: go in and just review the entire series. But Daylat
- 10:41Speaker 1: Soul put up a stellar album. I remember, like after
- 10:46Speaker 1: listening to it and reviewing it right here on this channel.
- 10:49Speaker 1: You can watch your actual review of it right here
- 10:52Speaker 1: on this channel. But I just remember like loving it.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And what I tend to do is I don't go
- 11:00Speaker 1: to social media before I hear an album I'm anticipating.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I do the reverse.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I listened to it, I form my own opinion about it,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and then I go see what the public thinks of it.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And everybody was saying the same things I was saying,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and some people were even saying, you know, they were
- 11:20Speaker 1: tear it up because of.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Dave and how they honored Dave.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I mentioned in my review, the intro is very important,
- 11:31Speaker 1: especially if it's on your first listen, because of how
- 11:35Speaker 1: it ends, and the last song is very important also
- 11:41Speaker 1: because of how it ends, and the whole time when
- 11:46Speaker 1: I was listening to the album, I had to see
- 11:48Speaker 1: somebody on social media say I wish I had a
- 11:51Speaker 1: little bit more Dave, And then I was like, I
- 11:54Speaker 1: didn't even notice, and I don't even mean that in
- 11:57Speaker 1: a bad way. I was literally just enjoy as a
- 12:00Speaker 1: daylight soul album that included all members. So to me,
- 12:05Speaker 1: it didn't matter if Poz was on every song and
- 12:08Speaker 1: Dave was on four or five or whatever.
- 12:10Speaker 2: It was. What mattered was when you heard Dave. It
- 12:15Speaker 2: was with purpose.
- 12:17Speaker 1: It was set up in a way where Dave kuld shine,
- 12:21Speaker 1: his vocals kuld shine. This album is fantastic. This album
- 12:26Speaker 1: will absolutely, spoiler alert, be in my best.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Of the year.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Where will it land, I don't know yet, but right now,
- 12:37Speaker 1: Recency Biace is in there.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Okay, it's in there.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And the last album in November that I have on
- 12:48Speaker 1: my best of lists of this month of November, I mean,
- 12:52Speaker 1: is The Uncomfortable Truth Ransom and Conductor Williams. I'm not
- 12:57Speaker 1: gonna hold you this Ransom best project this year, and
- 13:00Speaker 1: I'm including Final Call, and I'm with Davies and I'm
- 13:04Speaker 1: including the project he put out with DJ Premier. Why
- 13:11Speaker 1: because this is where Ransom's lyrics, his delivery, his monotone voice.
- 13:21Speaker 1: This is the type of production and presentation that matches
- 13:25Speaker 1: his style best. Some styles, like with the Premo joint,
- 13:32Speaker 1: there's some songs that are crazy, but after a while
- 13:37Speaker 1: you feel it feels repetitive because Premier's production sometimes can
- 13:42Speaker 1: be repetitive. So if that's repetitive, the production is repetitive,
- 13:47Speaker 1: and then Ransom is repetitive. It don't matter what's different
- 13:51Speaker 1: about the song, what the title is, what he say,
- 13:54Speaker 1: what beats was used, what's sampled, It don't matter if
- 13:57Speaker 1: it sounds repetitive. It's all going to become barring to
- 14:01Speaker 1: some some but this feels way better. This feels way better.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Ransom still dumb, nice, he ain't never whack repetitive or not.
- 14:14Speaker 2: He's never whack, but it almost.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Makes it almost makes the sound energized or more into it.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Not just I'm rhyming over this beat by Premier or
- 14:27Speaker 1: I'm rhyming over this beat and again just because I
- 14:30Speaker 1: mentioned final call with Davi's davies can sound repetitive if
- 14:35Speaker 1: in this case not matched with someone that compliments it style.
- 14:39Speaker 1: You can't have two monotone repetitive rappers who are both nice.
- 14:44Speaker 1: It's you're gonna get lost somewhere in there unless you
- 14:48Speaker 1: just love boom BAP so much that you don't care.
- 14:52Speaker 2: You just need a head nod and then I get it. Whatever.
- 14:56Speaker 1: But this album with Conductor Williams, it's dope and it's
- 15:02Speaker 1: not overwhelmed.
- 15:04Speaker 2: With Conductor Conductor, we have it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You're not overwhelmed. We know who it is, it says
- 15:09Speaker 1: Conductor Williams on here. We don't need that to drop
- 15:11Speaker 1: all the time. You know what I'm saying, And it doesn't.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So there you have it. Those are the projects that
- 15:19Speaker 1: I feel are some of the best of November. Hear
- 15:24Speaker 1: anything you were interested in, go check it out, no
- 15:28Speaker 1: matter what platform you're on. Just go look it up
- 15:31Speaker 1: and listen for yourself. Leave your review in the comment
- 15:34Speaker 1: section of this video. Also, if there's an album that dropped,
- 15:40Speaker 1: put it in a comment section. Maybe I heard it,
- 15:42Speaker 1: maybe I didn't, you know, Maybe I heard it thought
- 15:44Speaker 1: it was a WAT that's why I was not here,
- 15:47Speaker 1: or maybe I didn't even know it dropped.
- 15:49Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 15:50Speaker 1: But I do appreciate people commenting and engaging because that
- 15:55Speaker 1: grows the channel. Because We're on the road to twenty
- 15:57Speaker 1: five k by the end of this year, and we
- 16:00Speaker 1: are extremely closed. We're closing in on twenty four thousand,
- 16:05Speaker 1: so we gotta keep going. More content is on the way, obviously.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Best of the year followed me on social media at
- 16:13Speaker 1: Vegas World.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I NC regardless of.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Platform and please no, I'm not a critic, I'm a fan.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Please
