- 2:10The Beef Forever Cool podcast. My name is Rex 45 and we try to
- 2:15be here every week with this Moto GP talk, Rd.
- 2:19Super Bike talk, Rd. America talk, motorcycle racing
- 2:23in general talk and you know, it's something that we enjoy
- 2:26doing on the show. I was fortunate enough to go
- 2:29racing this weekend. Shout out to Pan American Super
- 2:33Bike Series for, you know, having around 'cause going
- 2:37motorcycle racing, it's an awesome thing.
- 2:40But if there's not people like, you know, Pan American or Azra
- 2:43or any of these clubs around the world.
- 2:45If somebody or of a group of people that don't, don't come
- 2:48together and say hey, we're going to put this thing on so
- 2:51folks can come and you know, race and have some fun and, and
- 2:55be as safe as possible. It wouldn't be possible.
- 2:58So, you know, it was exciting for me to get back on the KTM
- 3:00and race. You know, we got Moto GP that
- 3:04happened down in Brazil. We got to talk about that with
- 3:07the gang cause a lot of chaos, a lot of a lot of controversy.
- 3:11I think I want to see if we can submit Jamaica to be a Moto GP
- 3:15spot because I think we got a viable case on our hand for
- 3:20that. But enough of my rambling.
- 3:22Let's get the gang in and and get this thing on the road.
- 3:24This to be forever cool podcast. What's going on, TJ?
- 3:27Man, how you doing tonight? Just hanging in there, we had a
- 3:32great weekend of motorcycle racing and looking forward to
- 3:35another week back-to-back. We're on Super bike and Moto GP.
- 3:39The weather's getting a little better up here in New England,
- 3:43but still a little cold. So just just we're getting there
- 3:47and I'm decided to, you know, watch some librations.
- 3:51So that's all. It seems like every time I talk
- 3:54to you, I'm saying I'm coming to Boston and it's cold when I get
- 3:57up there. So we'll be up there this week
- 3:59again. And man, I'm not looking for
- 4:01that. Can we get, can we get some Ray
- 4:02sunshine? What's going on, man?
- 4:04Hey, bring some up with you, man.
- 4:06You, you got the, you got the, the heat and the sunshine down
- 4:09there. Listen, man, we're hoarding heat
- 4:11down here 'cause it's not enough.
- 4:12So some people might be hoarding oil.
- 4:15We're hoarding heat cause not enough to go around right now.
- 4:19So if the sun is shining over here where I'm at on the Gulf
- 4:23side, I'll take it. We'll keep it moving man 'cause
- 4:28it's, it's a lot to unpack tonight for sure.
- 4:32What's going on, Reese, man, How you doing, man?
- 4:34Welcome to this show. I think I would have gotten this
- 4:37right by now, but somehow, but you know, says your name.
- 4:45What's good, man? How you doing man?
- 4:48You know, another day of work, another day of life, man.
- 4:51Just enjoying the weather and getting ready to fly out and
- 4:55head Dakota. Nice, nice man, fun times and
- 4:59Coda. I can't wait to hear all about
- 5:02it. It's going to be crazy after
- 5:03this past weekend as well. You paying attention to, you
- 5:07paying attention to any basketball, March Madness, any
- 5:10of that stuff, you got any nephews or anybody that's that's
- 5:13coming up in the ranks? I mean, I have a I have a cousin
- 5:17might be coming up. You know, he's coming, getting
- 5:18ready to start heading to college.
- 5:21He's got a couple of D1 offers. He hasn't made a decision yet.
- 5:24He's a junior, so we'll see what happens, see if you can follow
- 5:27in my footsteps. OK, OK.
- 5:29You know, listen, that's why we stepped first, right, To make it
- 5:33happen. Speaking of steps, I mean, for
- 5:37those folks that went to Brazil, I mean, you know, I've seen a
- 5:40lot of, I mean, I think the craziest condition I was at was
- 5:45asking 2017 to watch Moto GP and it was just cold and drizzling.
- 5:49So it wasn't that crazy for me. I think 2019 CODA was a little
- 5:54bit chilly too. But it has to be the craziest
- 5:56rain that we've seen at a Moto GP track in a while, right?
- 6:00Usually there's wars that's stopping racing going on.
- 6:03What are your thoughts on the rain and condition?
- 6:05We're not going to talk about the track yet, but just the
- 6:07amount of rain that happened the Thursday into Friday.
- 6:09Ah, yeah. You want to go TJ?
- 6:16I mean you can start it off all. Right, Reese, That's what's up.
- 6:19I mean, I started off, I mean it was that was some crazy rain to,
- 6:24you know, to come in like that and then go out, you know,
- 6:27during what was that the practice, free practice.
- 6:32They kind of came in like a, you know, like a storm and then went
- 6:36out and almost looked like a Florida rain, like come out of
- 6:38nowhere and then go out there almost like that.
- 6:42So that was kind of unique, kind of different.
- 6:46I mean, they were the teams are always were prepared for it.
- 6:50They knew it was something was coming.
- 6:53It just was sad. Just didn't see a lot of guys go
- 6:55back out, I mean or get out there before the rain come to
- 6:59put their fat lap down and they get stuck.
- 7:02So that was kind of just unfortunate, but it all worked
- 7:06out. Right.
- 7:07It's kind of like a, a, a, you know, from a behind, you know,
- 7:11from a guy that works in the paddock, you know it, this is
- 7:14data you kind of just throw away, right?
- 7:16Because it's like we can't really use it because you can't.
- 7:19This is not something you can you want, you wouldn't want to
- 7:21use hopefully because the conditions won't happen like
- 7:23that again. But for the first time at a
- 7:25track to you, you really can't collect, collect any great data.
- 7:30I mean, maybe race day because race day wasn't bad, but as far
- 7:33as Friday, there's no data that you can really collect because
- 7:36just the way the weather was. I mean, you can collect a little
- 7:40bit of data. You can't collect too much.
- 7:42I mean, just because you really didn't get out there, don't know
- 7:46what you kind of just everybody kind of just set up.
- 7:49That's kind of it, but you, you can't collect some of it because
- 7:53you want to collect from a new track, you want to collect as
- 7:55much data as you can to prepare for next year, you know, or to
- 8:00if they do go back. So there is certain things that
- 8:03they do want to collect from that because if you see, you
- 8:06know, it seemed like everybody was going down and turn 4 so.
- 8:09Right, right, right. Yeah, no doubt.
- 8:11That was a crazy part. Crazy.
- 8:12We don't get to that. TJ, what are your thoughts on
- 8:14the rain? I mean, you know, I, you know, I
- 8:17always joke and say that I'm going to get a little inflatable
- 8:20rafts. So just in case there's a flood
- 8:25and go because you know, that's that's a couple of spots where
- 8:30they were underwater and they got like for it too, which is
- 8:34also tough as a new, you know, coming back to Brazil, it's not
- 8:39a new track because it's been around for well over 30 years.
- 8:43But for the Moto GP to go back to it.
- 8:45So what are your thoughts? When you saw the weather, did
- 8:47you think Moto GP was going to be cancelled?
- 8:50Well, going into the weekend for sure, I thought there was going
- 8:53to be some type of delay because of the weather.
- 8:56I mean, for the pictures that we saw before leading up to the
- 8:59weekend, you saw the floods. So it's kind of like interesting
- 9:03to see what what the layout was going to be.
- 9:05And it actually turned out to be pretty decent.
- 9:08I mean, the rain kind of was off and on, you know, after, you
- 9:12know, it's pretty much flooded and the riders actually was able
- 9:16to chase some fast times as best they can.
- 9:20Why it was dry enough and then the rain picked up again.
- 9:23And it's just, you know, and then basically, yeah, you got to
- 9:27have your surf board on the side just to make sure you don't get
- 9:30flooded so you can get a way out.
- 9:32But that laid up LED up to more track conditions where it caused
- 9:37delays, where they had to do some track work.
- 9:40And I'm sure this is a a big test where, you know, you don't
- 9:44know what to expect when, you know, big Grand Prix comes to
- 9:47your, you know, race track. So I'm sure they they can
- 9:51correct any mistake that they made in the future if they go to
- 9:55the next round. But their response time to all
- 9:58this was really well. So every delay that happened
- 10:03because of the weather and the rain, the marshals stepped up
- 10:07and took care of it to actually make sure the Grand Prix went on
- 10:11and it turned out good. Right, so let me ask this guy
- 10:15before we actually talk about the race, let's get all the the
- 10:18the dry stuff out the way. In hindsight, should they have
- 10:25rescheduled this race? I mean, I say that because the,
- 10:31the, the, they cut the, the GP by like 6 laps or 8 laps or
- 10:36whatever the case may be. A lot of riders complain about
- 10:38the asphalt kicking up the whole time.
- 10:41I mean, it's like, you know, going to a paintball place and
- 10:46everybody's just shooting at you, you know what I'm saying?
- 10:50So in hindsight, you know, I, I know they made the best of it
- 10:53and it went on, but you know, a lot of riders went down and they
- 11:01had to. Do a lot I.
- 11:02Mean they cut half the track, not half the track, but they
- 11:05they cut out the section to rebuild it to go racing, yeah.
- 11:11I mean, that's I, I, I, I mean, if they didn't reschedule it and
- 11:16then it happened at another time, like I think the same
- 11:19results probably would have happened, you know, similar.
- 11:25So I think you had to do a, a run whenever.
- 11:29I think that was probably the best time.
- 11:31Just the rain was just the bad part.
- 11:33Can't. Can't.
- 11:36I don't know. We can't do that about Mother
- 11:37Nature. Well, I mean, you know, listen,
- 11:38I mean, I, I, you know, I, I used to work for the, the water
- 11:43department in Boston and we, and I didn't dig, but I was part of
- 11:46dig cruise and, and, you know, we'd have to go back, you know,
- 11:51some a few days later because the things will settle.
- 11:54So it's not like you, you just, you know, patch, you know, you
- 11:59know, tamper down and all that and you're good to go.
- 12:02Mother Nature still has to happen.
- 12:05And, and, and so like when I, when I saw that, I thought, wow,
- 12:09like these guys are still going to go out there and go 110% and
- 12:14again, like the debris and all that stuff kicking up.
- 12:17I mean, Reese, you know, you've been at the racetrack for years.
- 12:20I mean is this like the the craziest track repair that you
- 12:24have seen? I've never seen no damn track
- 12:27repair like that. I've never seen, I mean, here's
- 12:30my intake on that. I mean, to actually have the
- 12:33equipment ready to go, that should have told you something's
- 12:37wrong with this track because I've never seen the equipment on
- 12:41standby. Like to cut a square, pat a hole
- 12:46that deep and patch it and then flatten it back down and let it
- 12:49cure. What are we doing here?
- 12:52Like while we erased it, this would have been at that point,
- 12:56race cancel. We come back at another time and
- 12:59let's redo this. Like that's crazy.
- 13:01That's, you know, and, and it sounds like, I mean from what
- 13:05Alex Marquez has publicly said and maybe another rider is like
- 13:09the whole child's, like the whole track needs to be
- 13:11resurfaced. So the question is how much do
- 13:15they pay for the track to get fixed and the whole the complex
- 13:19to get built? Because it sounded like they
- 13:21literally knocked everything down and build it up.
- 13:23So I, you know, Lewis is not here at the moment, but this is
- 13:26where we start looking at receipts, right?
- 13:29Right. You got to start looking at
- 13:30receipts and how much they paid for this track to get surfaced.
- 13:34Did they ask them to lay it down right?
- 13:37No. Did they have the correct stuff
- 13:40under the tracks? So because they actually show
- 13:44pictures of the track and you can actually see like different
- 13:47chunks of it missing. I don't know why are you still
- 13:50riding on this? Like this isn't safe.
- 13:53This isn't fun no more. And like I said before, it was I
- 13:56don't know how many guys went down in turn 4 or does it seem
- 13:58like turn 4:00 and after that was just a slide fest.
- 14:01It was like going down. Yeah, it was.
- 14:03It was so I. Mean almost.
- 14:05It was after like Marquez, but it was like those guys went
- 14:09down. It was a qualifying too, right?
- 14:11That's when they pushed it back fine too, because all those
- 14:13crashes. Yeah, man, it it, it's, it's
- 14:18pretty crazy to see. And it wasn't just one location
- 14:21and that the track was bad, like you said.
- 14:23And also you can see the I mean, what was shown.
- 14:27You can see the guys next where they that was all beat up from
- 14:31being hit with with with with loose asphalt, you know, which
- 14:37is crazy. So how how I mean, thankfully no
- 14:40screens were broken and because of it.
- 14:42But like, how can you concentrate?
- 14:44I mean, I know I'm wrong. You get rubber kicked up in your
- 14:46face on a track. You know, you hit a bug on the
- 14:48track or whatever the case may be, you know, or maybe sometimes
- 14:51it's it's a it's a bolt or a screw, right, You know what I'm
- 14:54saying, from the bike in front of you and stuff like that.
- 14:56But how, you know, like how, how can you be that locked in just
- 15:00getting peppered with asphalt? Honestly, yeah, go TJ.
- 15:07You got that one. I mean you stay, stay below the
- 15:12windscreen. I mean, when you lock in like
- 15:15you, you, just you, you don't feel anything really unless you
- 15:20go down. I mean, I mean you.
- 15:22You do feel those. You do feel those?
- 15:24Pebbles that be hitting you, but like, I mean, you got to be
- 15:28locked in and I said I don't know, it's just dude, it's like
- 15:32like you try to win. One or two hitting you in the
- 15:35mechas are one thing, but it sounds like it was just like.
- 15:38It's just like if there's bikes in front of you, you're getting
- 15:42hit with something. Yeah, I mean, they ain't going
- 15:44to stop, you know they ain't going to stop like, hey, hey,
- 15:47coach I there's too many rusts out there.
- 15:49I mean, the the summer parts of the pavement really look bad.
- 15:53It looked like up here up north after the snowstorm, it's like
- 15:56it looks like a little rough Rd. potholes a little bit.
- 16:00And yeah, I'm sure that's not fun to ride on and to get hit
- 16:06with pebbles. Yeah, that definitely that's
- 16:08good. They definitely can't quit and
- 16:10got to go all in. So it's hard to find the line
- 16:14where in where in most of the pebbles are in and I don't
- 16:16that's that's tough, tough to tough to go through.
- 16:18Yeah, OK. So.
- 16:20It sounds like Reese would reschedule, would have
- 16:22rescheduled and you said the show must go on is that is that?
- 16:27I mean, I get it. The show has got to go on.
- 16:29It does it has to go on, but at the point of there's a point of
- 16:32safety, you know what I mean? There was a lot of riders saying
- 16:36that it felt like the ground was moving from under them.
- 16:38Like it felt like the ground was just moving.
- 16:41So and then the way you the way I saw the pictures, it was like,
- 16:47what are we riding on? There was like not even a smooth
- 16:49surface, nothing. And I'm like, this is, this is
- 16:52madness, you know? And then to sit here in the
- 16:56middle of the race or the middle of the, you know, sessions, hey,
- 17:01there's a sinkhole forming right there and then a sinkhole like,
- 17:05OK, what's going on? Let's get this fixed.
- 17:08So somebody's engineering got screwed up.
- 17:09Something got screwed up, but something's wrong, right?
- 17:12No. Definitely that's, that's the
- 17:16dry part of the show folks, but we have to talk about it.
- 17:22It was, it was crazy to see. And just even just the, you
- 17:25know, I, I'll say this, right, I prefer races and I'll ask you
- 17:29guys. I prefer races that on different
- 17:31time zones than where I'm at because then I can usually watch
- 17:34it wake up and it's odd. It's like waiting for a race at
- 17:413:00 PM my time and come on. I fear you on that.
- 17:48I was just like, I had it on the liver room and I was just like,
- 17:51what's going on? All right?
- 17:52So had to pace around, do something.
- 17:55I just wasn't used. To it.
- 17:57You know, being on our schedule, but next week, is this week's
- 18:01going to do the same thing? Yeah, I.
- 18:02Know that's what I'm saying. Do we want more Moto GP in
- 18:05America? Don't get me wrong you.
- 18:07Know. Just just earn it at a different
- 18:10time. All right, guys, let's let's
- 18:14talk about qualifying. Qualifying 2.
- 18:18You know, I guess we can talk about B1 a little bit.
- 18:21New track for everyone, I guess. Well, let's go to, you know,
- 18:25free practice 1 and practice and practice 2.
- 18:29New track for one, you know, the first practice we saw you know,
- 18:33people who would not be normally upfront was upfront and we saw
- 18:37that through I mean until it got really to Q2, we kind of saw
- 18:41that, right. Guys, what are your thoughts?
- 18:42Like, you know, is it that just, you know, some people can just
- 18:45adapt to a new track or the really fast guys just take a
- 18:48little bit longer to go fast or or maybe it was the track
- 18:51condition? I mean, I say it was like a
- 18:56little bit of both. It was 1.
- 18:57The track condition was crappy, but then each track has a
- 19:04different layout for a certain different bikes.
- 19:06This may be a bike for a shorter, you know, for a shorter
- 19:10wheelbase instead of a longer wheelbase.
- 19:12Or maybe something that plays out where one bike has more
- 19:15corner speed such as the Yamaha or such as you know, the Aprilia
- 19:19was really well in this. So it goes all based off a
- 19:23riding style and what they like and how you can feel and what
- 19:26you can do. So I mean, it was nice to see
- 19:30Johann Zarco up there. It was nice to see some of the
- 19:32other hitters up there. It was nice to see Quattro go
- 19:35straight through the Q2 with top rack.
- 19:39So it was nice. You know, the guy that actually
- 19:43did surprise me a lot was Fabio Digitonio, you know, Digi and
- 19:48Jorge, Jorge Martin. That was actually 2 surprises
- 19:51for me. Yeah, I know.
- 19:53We didn't. I didn't.
- 19:54I didn't pick Martine. I mean, I know he did fairly
- 19:56well in the first round and I wish I had picked them instead
- 19:59of my boy Mobideli, but we'll talk about that too.
- 20:03They. Talk about your boy Pekka too.
- 20:05Your boy Pekka over there. On the, on the, on the chart,
- 20:11the sheet. So we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll
- 20:14talk about him as we come along. What's your thoughts TJ man on
- 20:18on qualifying and how these guys did and and who surprised you?
- 20:24I mean, yeah, the the first session, everyone's getting
- 20:27their feet wet just to see what the track layout is looking
- 20:30like, and especially with the rain on and off and on.
- 20:34And the practice was pretty interesting because like, it was
- 20:39pretty cool to see Top Rank up there knowing that it was mixed
- 20:42conditions. But it kind of gave him some
- 20:45confidence, you know, just to show that he can hang with these
- 20:50guys in a way. And I agree with Reese.
- 20:53It was good to see Horry Martini back up there doing pretty well
- 20:58and practicing qualifying and especially Digi because we
- 21:02haven't heard his name in a while.
- 21:05The Yamahas looked OK, much better than the KTMS.
- 21:10They just could not find their way at all.
- 21:13Besides Pedro. Costco did OK getting up into
- 21:17Q2, but as far as that, I thought the surprise was just,
- 21:23you know, Zarko obviously because the the wet conditions
- 21:27that was kind of expected to see him up there because you know,
- 21:29he likes that stuff. But I thought, I thought it was
- 21:32overall good to see, you know, Martine and Mark and and Digi up
- 21:42there. Got you.
- 21:45What are your thoughts, guy guys on Ferman, Alligator, Iagura,
- 21:51you know, these are guys that were are very being very
- 21:53competitive as rookies right now in in the GP.
- 21:59You mentioned Zarko. I mean, you know, Bagni as well,
- 22:02even though you know, he, you know, he, he made it.
- 22:06He qualified 11th on the grid, crashed out.
- 22:11You know, what do you, what do you what, what are your thoughts
- 22:13on? Let's talk about the rookies
- 22:14before we get into Ducati. What are your thoughts on Iagura
- 22:18and Furman? Because they they qualify 6th
- 22:20and 7th on the grid. I mean it for what they did Al
- 22:27Daguerre Algora and what's the kid?
- 22:31I can't think of the can't say the name now from Brazil.
- 22:34Oh DA. Yeah, DA did really well too.
- 22:36Right. They all did very well.
- 22:38They did. They did extremely well.
- 22:41I mean, Altiger did very well for still not 100% being very
- 22:45still being hurt. You know, I it's just they're
- 22:51coming along on their bikes very, very rapidly.
- 22:56You know better than any other guys that came in there except
- 23:00for like Acosta and all those. But they're coming there, man.
- 23:05I can't Agora. I mean, he was, he was very
- 23:09impressive. Agora was very impressive.
- 23:10Yeah, he finished fifth with Sprint.
- 23:12I think he finished. Let me check the GP.
- 23:15Definitely. He finished fifth with the
- 23:16Sprint and GP 5th as well. I mean, he's a rookie, you know
- 23:21what I mean, right? I mean, so it just suits them.
- 23:26I mean it it's they, they can, you can see that they've been
- 23:30working on their craft and they come along very well and you
- 23:33know, they have what it takes to be in there for a little bit
- 23:37all. Right, no doubt.
- 23:41Well, let's, let's get into the nuts and bolts of it.
- 23:44Let's talk about Ducati. Marquez won the Sprint, but he
- 23:49won the Sprint because Digi made a mistake.
- 23:51Is that is that fair to say? Oh.
- 23:56Yeah, DJ, Yeah. You know, the pressure was on
- 24:00Digi the whole time. He knew it so he could not make
- 24:03a mistake and it sucks that he made his stake pretty much at
- 24:07the last moment. But yeah, Mark definitely took
- 24:11advantage of that. But I think he had a one if he
- 24:13didn't make a mistake. So that's all in him.
- 24:16But then again, we didn't expect to see Digi up at the top, you
- 24:21know, especially in the spring race.
- 24:23So I I call it a win for him anyway, even though he got
- 24:27second and he came out strong also in in the actual Grand
- 24:31Prix. So yeah, I gave it to Digi for
- 24:34that. OK, OK.
- 24:36What are your thoughts there, Reese, on Marquez and Digi?
- 24:41You know, you agree with what TJ is saying.
- 24:44And also let's just talk about Martine.
- 24:46This is his first podium since clinching his world title over a
- 24:51year ago. You know what, What are your
- 24:54thoughts on the Sprint race and and how these three guys did?
- 24:58I mean on the Sprint race, I mean, if Javio, the pressure
- 25:00that was on him, he knew it. I mean, it's it's a lot of
- 25:04pressure on you. You're going to pass that board
- 25:06and you see 93 point, I mean 0.00 so that that right there
- 25:13was send anybody's heart to their throat.
- 25:14So you're like, oh God, here he comes, you know, so but for what
- 25:19he did was very impressive. And, you know, as as a, you
- 25:25know, a racer or a guy that plays sports himself, I'm going
- 25:28to say the same thing. A win is a win.
- 25:30You know, I'll take the win by anybody, hook or crook, you
- 25:33know. So for Mark, I mean, it was
- 25:35there. I mean, hey, my job is to put
- 25:37all the pressure on you and make, you know, get you to make
- 25:40a mistake. And if you make a mistake, I'll
- 25:43take the I'll pounce on it. You know, Mark did what he had
- 25:46to do. He made, you know, Fabio made a
- 25:49simple mistake, ran wide and Mark went inside and, you know,
- 25:53Fabio couldn't recover from that in time.
- 25:55So I mean, that was there and for, you know, Jorge Martin, I
- 25:59mean, that was impressive to come back from the injury that
- 26:03he sustained and from him. 3 injuries.
- 26:08Well, yeah, there you go three, you know, try effect the injury,
- 26:13but it was impressive to see what he did.
- 26:15You know, I still think he needed to stop crying and stop
- 26:18being a whiner, but it just riot.
- 26:21And I give the I give them respect for a rider, but I don't
- 26:26get respect as a person because you just cry too much.
- 26:28Stop crying. Just ride.
- 26:30I mean, you get paid to do this. I mean, if he was put all his
- 26:33effort in the riding and doing what he's supposed to do and not
- 26:37have. I mean, I know a lot of
- 26:38Spaniards talk a lot of trash. I mean, I do as well, but just
- 26:41ride the bike and just do what you got to do and I think you'll
- 26:44go along. I think you can go a long way.
- 26:46I know this is is last year on Aprilia.
- 26:49I know they from what I hear he is definitely not returning so.
- 26:55He does no, no doubt which is which is which is definitely
- 27:00unfortunate. Let's talk about Bez.
- 27:03Bez finished fourth in fourth in the Sprint.
- 27:05He was a finishing for the Martine.
- 27:07I mean, if you're bad, you're a little bit worried because
- 27:12Martine finished in front of you.
- 27:14Obviously we know what happened in the GP, but at the end of the
- 27:17Sprint, because I was kind of like, man, what happened to Bez,
- 27:20how he let, how, how, how he let my team finish in front of them.
- 27:24But some people are really fast in, in 15 laps and some people
- 27:27are not as fast in, you know, 23 laps.
- 27:31But you know, we got, what are your thoughts on, you know, Bez
- 27:33finishing fourth? I mean, he stayed on the bike,
- 27:35which is great because he crashed out of the first round.
- 27:38Magura again finished fifth. We got 3 Aprilias in the top
- 27:43five. You know, I'm going to segue
- 27:46into, like I've been saying since last year, Ducati's in
- 27:49trouble. So that's what I'm going to be
- 27:50going to. What are your thoughts on, you
- 27:52know best where he finished? Is it a situation?
- 27:56Obviously he collected the points, but what are your
- 27:58thoughts? I thought, I thought him
- 28:03finishing fourth, yeah, we probably want to see him on a
- 28:06podium for most of the season, but fourth is not bad at all.
- 28:11As you see he struggled coming into this, the Sprint.
- 28:16So like it was a little harder for him to find the setup.
- 28:19And I was just thinking like how they were approached this
- 28:22weekend. If they have no data, I mean if
- 28:23you have 4 bites, I'm sure they would have a setup for all of
- 28:27them and see who would have the best setup and possibly go with
- 28:31that one. Maybe just didn't have the right
- 28:32setup at the time. But pulling off 4 plays, you
- 28:36know, you still top five South, you know, he didn't lose too
- 28:40much points. He got 6 points out of the Max
- 28:4312, so didn't really fall too behind on that.
- 28:48And obviously he did well in the GP race.
- 28:50But as far as being worried about Jorge finishing in front
- 28:54of him, kind of probably he's like in a way happy that he's
- 28:58actually, you know, up there with him.
- 29:02But I don't think he's right about that right now.
- 29:04I'll say maybe a couple of races down the line if they, you know,
- 29:07rubbing paint and they'd probably be like, right, like
- 29:10get out of the way, but. Right.
- 29:11And, and what do you think about the, you know, three-year per
- 29:14year's top five? I mean, it's kind of impressive
- 29:19right now to see this like just because you know, some some
- 29:23teams or some vice don't really find their way until a couple of
- 29:26rounds in and I feel like a Prairie it just has it already
- 29:30figured out, you know, and still improving.
- 29:35So I think it's pretty impressive to have them all
- 29:39those appraised up there. And Ducati I'm sure is just
- 29:43worried a little bit. A.
- 29:45Little bit a little bit, but your thoughts just?
- 29:47A little bit. A little bit we have thoughts
- 29:50based on Bez Sprint. I agree with Aprilia where
- 29:54they're at. It was impressive what Mark and
- 29:57and Didja did. I mean, I think the Aprilia bike
- 30:05was very solid for, for where they started to where they're at
- 30:09now, you know, going back with Ilasa Espargo, I mean, I think
- 30:14they're very solid. You know, you, they're, they're,
- 30:17they are the ones to beat Ducati.
- 30:20They are the ones that everyone's going against and
- 30:22looking at. I don't think Ducati's going to
- 30:24run away with it like they'd normally been doing.
- 30:27I think they are the next big thing to come along.
- 30:29So I mean, for where they were, that for all four of them, I
- 30:35mean, or all three because, you know, Fernandez wasn't there
- 30:38that much, but I think they're the next big thing, man.
- 30:44I agree. What are your thoughts on
- 30:47Ducati? As far as you know, we see put
- 30:51it Alex. Alex finished 7th.
- 30:53Bagnaya he stayed on the bike, he finished eighth.
- 30:57Mobodeli finished 16th. Am I missing a Ducati?
- 31:01Nope, that's it. You know, they they kind of
- 31:04struggled this weekend as well, even though mark one and this
- 31:07year finished second and finished third in in the GP
- 31:11race. I mean this this is I mean they
- 31:14back on the podium. But is this a like, can Ducati
- 31:17look at this and like feel good about where they're at?
- 31:19I mean, if you're the Celtics or you know, you're the bulls and
- 31:23you know, these teams that got a lot of rings, it's like a couple
- 31:26of a couple of wins is not that's not where we're trying to
- 31:28get to. We're trying to get to that
- 31:29world title every year. I mean, what are your thoughts
- 31:32DJ? I'm sure Gigi and all they're
- 31:37not happy. You can't just rely on Mark to
- 31:40pull the way, you know, like Petco needs to step up.
- 31:43I mean, yeah, he got 8th in the Sprint.
- 31:47He never really like sprints from day one anyway.
- 31:49So like in the GP is his his way of the ride and he's not doing
- 31:53well. I'm sure MO Videli could have
- 31:55done better, but if he listened to his team and not run out of
- 31:58gas leading up to qualifying to not be in Q1 and and start in
- 32:03the back, probably could have a better situation.
- 32:06So it's like things ain't working out right now.
- 32:08Like, you know, Digi definitely saved it, you know, a little
- 32:13bit, but you can't just rely on Mark and Petco is going to step
- 32:18up. And I, I just think that, you
- 32:21know, Gigi should might have something up his sleeve, but
- 32:25this is not where they want to be.
- 32:26They want to be more competitive, especially being so
- 32:29dominant. They just want to fall off the
- 32:31Cliff like that. Not saying that they are, but
- 32:34they got to figure something out.
- 32:35Yeah, I mean it, it is, it is a struggle.
- 32:38I'll talk to Reese MO about that.
- 32:40I'll ask this about Mobodeli. And I said this before, is he
- 32:43going to be a Moto GP next year? Because his antics, because his
- 32:47antics is, is just, I mean, I'll say this if you, if you guys, I
- 32:50know you guys know who Tony Yayo is.
- 32:52And I'll, but I don't know if you guys in the clip of 50
- 32:55talking about, you know, Tony Yayo is the type of friend that
- 32:59you know, he'll, he he knows he did something wrong.
- 33:02He'll apologize for it, but he's not really apologizing.
- 33:05He's just saying, you know, I'm going to do it next time, right?
- 33:07It's like more, but it's just shooting himself in the court,
- 33:14you know what I'm saying? And he's probably a loyal dude.
- 33:15Like, yeah, yo, but like, come on, man.
- 33:18Like, you know, what are you? What are you thoughts PJ?
- 33:23I mean, yeah, he just don't listen.
- 33:26I mean, I don't think, I think this might be his last season if
- 33:29he, I mean they're going to the new bike.
- 33:31So the contracts are he might be one of the last ones if
- 33:34anything. But yeah, he's just don't.
- 33:38He has to, he has to bring some results.
- 33:40So if he doesn't, I don't see him.
- 33:44I agree, unless he got photos, unless he got photos of people
- 33:47or something of people, it's going to be hard for you to
- 33:49think emoji. And this is on doing, which is
- 33:50quite sad because there's a lot of other people that's left from
- 33:53the Moto GP and it's not their own doing.
- 33:56I mean, you know, I've been saying this since last year,
- 33:59Reese. I mean, Ducati, they've been
- 34:01messing up that people might have thought I was Dennis
- 34:04Pedrozo and Pedrozo was saying the Honda was messing up, but
- 34:07yet Marcus still winning. I mean the the Ducati look kind
- 34:11of they're they're looking more suspicious.
- 34:13I'm I'm not I'm not looking like a conspiracy theorist right now.
- 34:16I'm I'm looking, you know what I'm saying?
- 34:20I mean, you got one guy that can ride the bike really well and
- 34:23thank God for did you, because he he was able to get out in
- 34:25front of Mark, But everybody else seems to be struggling on
- 34:29these bikes. I mean, you know, you're on the
- 34:30inside. I mean, this is where we do we
- 34:33start looking at the boss at this point.
- 34:35No, you're not starting to get the balls because you got to
- 34:37look at the, you got to look at the results.
- 34:39I mean, if two guys are doing very well, why are they doing
- 34:42very well and why are the other guys not?
- 34:44It's not the bosses. I mean, it's sometimes down to a
- 34:48point where the bike is well, they just got to ride around it.
- 34:50And that's sometimes where it comes down to riders got to ride
- 34:53around the issues and got to ride around a little, certain
- 34:56little things. There's nothing's ever going to
- 34:57be 100%, but in this case is 2 guys is up top top five and the
- 35:05other guys disappeared. So you know, you got to look at
- 35:08it like the bike is OK, we're there.
- 35:12Where do we need to get you guys at?
- 35:13What do we need to do to make you guys a little bit more
- 35:15comfortable? But then it's again, you can't
- 35:19take away so much or do so much because here's comes the issue.
- 35:22If I do this, you're going to lose this on this side, you're
- 35:24going to lose this, you know, or you'll gain here, but you lose
- 35:27here, you know, So it's just sometimes, you know, you have to
- 35:31as a writer, got to change up certain things and got to put it
- 35:33in perspective and say, OK, I got to be able to do this.
- 35:37And that's where Pekka, Alex Marquez, they're all there and
- 35:42they need to figure out what they need to do.
- 35:43And hey, let's let's just get it and and more fidelity.
- 35:46And you know, that's just another topic with him.
- 35:49Right. But I mean, you know, it's only
- 35:52the second round. So I'm, I'm not, you know, I'm,
- 35:55I'm, I'm, I'm not losing my mind or anything like that.
- 35:59It's possible. I mean, two things could be both
- 36:01possible. But I mean, when you look at the
- 36:06GP race and you look at for Marquez and you look at the
- 36:10Sprint race where he won, but he won because somebody made a
- 36:12mistake. I mean, he, he can't be it, it,
- 36:16it not just that he can't be the reference, but like, you know,
- 36:20now you got three guys looking at him like, oh, I can take you.
- 36:25Yeah, but then you got to look at it like this, too, with
- 36:26Marquez. Marquez is still coming off of
- 36:28an injury, you know, so certain little movements or tweaks may,
- 36:34you know, kind of send that injury into a little spiral and
- 36:37he's like, all right, this doesn't feel too great.
- 36:39So, you know, that could be the case, you know, so we're also
- 36:42looking at that. So, you know, you got to take,
- 36:44you got to take that into consideration that his injury
- 36:47could be playing an effector on him.
- 36:49And that track wasn't the greatest.
- 36:51A lot of things are moving around and like sliding.
- 36:53He's like, yeah, I don't want to.
- 36:54And he's at that point of stage of his life, like, I'm not
- 36:59trying to go down again and get seriously hurt.
- 37:01You listen, I mean, I, you know, I should have been a lawyer
- 37:04because, you know, I'm not leading the witness.
- 37:06But I mean, did he get shook this weekend because of the
- 37:10injuries? I mean, he could have got a
- 37:12little bit shook. I mean, but like I said, at the
- 37:15same time, do you really want to get hurt again?
- 37:17That's. What I'm saying, because I'm
- 37:20like is is like, is this a thing that's like, you know, because I
- 37:24think when Hond when the Honda jacked up Lorenzo's back, that
- 37:28was the writing on the wall. You know, like I'm not getting
- 37:31another Moto G bike again. OK, how many titles?
- 37:34And when you start saying things like when he, when Marcus starts
- 37:37saying things like I'll sign on the dotted line if I don't get
- 37:40get injured again, you know what I'm saying?
- 37:43Like that's what I want to sign up for.
- 37:44You know what I'm saying? When he's publicly saying that,
- 37:47you already know he's, that's where he's at.
- 37:49I'm not trying to get hurt again.
- 37:52Right. I mean, he doesn't want to get
- 37:53hurt. I mean, he's like, I'll sign up
- 37:55on the dotted line and, and call it a day if I don't get hurt,
- 37:58you know, if something doesn't want to kill him, you know, and
- 38:02that's where he's at. And I, I feel the same way.
- 38:04Like, I don't want to get killed.
- 38:05You know, he promises his grandfather certain things.
- 38:08And he's like, yo, man, I'm not trying to get destroyed.
- 38:11I got the money and you know, I got all the money.
- 38:14Right. Right.
- 38:15So, so, OK, so, so again, it sounds like what we're hearing
- 38:19guys is that Ducati's in trouble, could be in trouble
- 38:23this year. Go ahead, T you got that.
- 38:30Just a yes or no, that's it. I think it's a yes because if
- 38:34Echo doesn't step up, I mean, are we going to rely on Digi
- 38:40and, you know, are we going to lie on Mobideli?
- 38:43I I when. I rely on Digi.
- 38:47I rely on Digi and Marquez. Those are the two riders I think
- 38:50I will rely on at this point on the on right.
- 38:52On that I agree with. I agree with you on that, Rex.
- 38:57I mean, yeah, I mean. I.
- 38:59I think they still have to worry because.
- 39:02You all. For someone who's on top, they
- 39:04always want to stay there, you know, You know, you don't want
- 39:07to go through the struggles like Honda's going through.
- 39:10You don't want to get set back like that.
- 39:12You know you want to still, if you get set back, still have be
- 39:16in the playing field where you can just jump back on top again.
- 39:20And Pekko is, I think, the dark horse where he's going to have
- 39:25to get back to his own ways. He's a two times, he's a
- 39:30champion. So he needs to not be afraid of
- 39:33what March doing or, you know, last year he was crying about
- 39:37the setup. Hopefully, you know, he came, he
- 39:40came into the season very happy and open, very ready, set to go
- 39:45and it just hasn't been as well as the start hasn't been that
- 39:49good so. Yeah, well, I, I, I agree that
- 39:52the start hasn't been good as far as this round, you know,
- 39:57track conditions and stuff like that.
- 39:59So, you know, but it's not just it's all those guys now.
- 40:04I mean you, we see Alex is struggling as well.
- 40:07He's on a 26 bike. So, you know, care for what you
- 40:09wish for, right, 'cause we see him struggling and.
- 40:14You know, we, like I said, Digia pulled one out of the hat and
- 40:17he, I mean, he probably should have been in front of Mark in
- 40:19both races and they figured it out in the Sprint race.
- 40:23But like it's only the IT was only the second round and coded
- 40:28this this weekend. I mean, if you're Ducati, are
- 40:31you worrying? Are you, are you, are you, you
- 40:34know, is it just business as usual?
- 40:36We'll take the L at this track and and move on.
- 40:39Or you know, you'll feel weakness because there's some
- 40:42bikes that didn't crash that much this weekend.
- 40:45Can't do it. I mean there.
- 40:46Is some bikes. No, I was just jumping in
- 40:49Gary's. I was just saying you can't do
- 40:51that. You got to every round.
- 40:54Can't let no rounds go. We can't let no points slip.
- 40:57You got to go 100% every time. I mean, I agree with TJ.
- 41:02You got to, you got to grab as maximum points you can because
- 41:06you never know, the last round could come down to five points.
- 41:10It can come down to two points. You never know what it's going
- 41:13to come down to. I mean, racing is racing and
- 41:16anything can happen in racing. You know, the leader can go down
- 41:19and crash out one whole race and 0 points right there, you know,
- 41:23now we got a whole new, you know, swing of points.
- 41:28Is Zuccotti in trouble? I mean, it's still a little
- 41:32early. I mean, you do have Gigi over
- 41:34there, the mastermind, and that's that's like a smoke, an
- 41:38ace in the smoking gun with him, you know, once he's figured out
- 41:42what's going on. Belichick at As you know, at
- 41:45some point you know if aids, right?
- 41:48Right, so I mean with him over there, I mean, I don't think
- 41:52you're in trouble. Now here we come to CODA.
- 41:58You know where you know, it's this is like they said, even
- 42:01Pekka and Mark said that this is one of the most technical tracks
- 42:04in their in the circuit coming up.
- 42:07It's technical and you know you got the weather condition with
- 42:10the extreme heat, so it does play a factor.
- 42:14So we'll see how they do here and then hopefully they do well
- 42:17here and hopefully they do well maybe the next two rounds after
- 42:20this. If they do, then no, I don't say
- 42:23they're in trouble. But if they start sliding after
- 42:26the 4th and 5th round then then we got a problem.
- 42:30OK. So by the time they get to
- 42:32Europe, if if they're not being more consistent.
- 42:36Is a problem, correct? I mean because it's only the
- 42:39first two rounds. You can make your mistakes here
- 42:42and come back solid. I mean, you see, I've seen
- 42:46people come back solid in the second-half of the season and
- 42:48turn the whole season around so. Right.
- 42:50I mean, it's, it's one thing when you're a writer.
- 42:52So I think when you're a manufacturer and been on, you
- 42:55know, the podium 88 times and then and then and then miss it
- 42:58and then, you know, I mean, you're back on.
- 43:00So you thought you restart the clock, you got 2 podiums now.
- 43:04But let's let's talk about Honda.
- 43:06I mean, you know, Honda, they struggled at this track overall,
- 43:10even though Zaco had, you know, a fast day and mayor was looking
- 43:15good. You know, what are your thoughts
- 43:19on Honda overall and what they did?
- 43:21Because I was expecting more out of Honda this past round.
- 43:29I mean, I definitely was expecting more out of out of
- 43:32Honda this round just for the pace that they've been on
- 43:35lately. It sucks to see Zarko, you know,
- 43:39start the way he did and and didn't finish the Sprint as well
- 43:42as Joanne Meer and just to see Joanne Meer go down again and
- 43:49it's just like, come on. Like bro, you have to stay up
- 43:52this whole year. That is supposed to be a goal.
- 43:54I mean, I know it's hard, but you know, Honda's on to
- 43:58something and they need the points for him and you know, he
- 44:01didn't, He had an incomplete weekend, so.
- 44:05If I'm Honda, I'm keeping Luca and getting rid of me just
- 44:10because of the crash factor. Yeah, I would.
- 44:12I would. It would have to come down to
- 44:14that. It would have to come down to
- 44:16that. I mean, in the spring where
- 44:17Luther finished eleven, like didn't get any points, but he
- 44:21finished, you know, yeah, I just, I guess as re said, these
- 44:28first two rounds you get you you have a chance to make a mistake
- 44:31even though you shouldn't leave anything on the table.
- 44:33But hopefully since no one had data at this track that they can
- 44:37just bounce back at the next round at Coda, even though
- 44:41that's going to be another difficult 1 so.
- 44:44Right, right, right. Reese with your thoughts, man,
- 44:46on Honda, do you feel the same way as TJ and myself?
- 44:50Like they, they should have done better.
- 44:52They, they, they show glimpses of it.
- 44:56And is it just, you know, the weather juju that just jacked
- 44:59them up? I mean, they should have done
- 45:01better. I mean they should have done a
- 45:03whole lot better. I wish Luka Malini was up there.
- 45:06And man, I just wish Juwan Mirror can stay the hell on a
- 45:09bike some days. Like I, I don't even know what
- 45:11the crash bill looks like with him.
- 45:12I don't even know what that crash bill look like.
- 45:18I've seen crash bills man, and they're not pretty, but man, I
- 45:25wish they'd, I wish the Japanese bikes themselves were just
- 45:28better. You know, all the Jack brands
- 45:30were up there. I mean, we got all the, the
- 45:32European ones, we got the, we got them all up there.
- 45:35I just wish the Jack boys were back and come up there and
- 45:38figure this out. And I mean from what I know, I
- 45:41mean a lot of bikes are going back to Europe now.
- 45:45So hopefully with that being said, like a lot of bikes are
- 45:48getting past that euro spec bullshit 5.
- 45:50So hopefully we can actually see some Japanese people start
- 45:54making progress away. Right, right, right.
- 45:56Why are we making anyway? That's a different show, but
- 46:00Honda is a brand that you know, it looks better than than than
- 46:04the Yamaha. I think they got the best chance
- 46:09to be if if Aprilia's won, because Aprilia's looking like
- 46:12they won when you got a guy named Bazecki win 4 races in a
- 46:17row and there's only Lorenzo, Rossi, Bagnaya.
- 46:23Am I missing anybody that's done that?
- 46:25There might be one person I'm missing that's done.
- 46:27I said Marquez. Marquez as well, obviously.
- 46:30Yeah, Marquez. So, you know, he's won four in a
- 46:33row and he's doing it almost like, you know, like laughing in
- 46:40this way, Like, like nobody's taking them serious, You know
- 46:43what I'm saying? Like, no, like people look at
- 46:44Martine. They take Martine serious.
- 46:46They look at Acosta. Oh, he's a real racer, Bez.
- 46:50They just like, you know, I want to say he's Sideshow Bob, but
- 46:53he's just like, he's just smiling away like I got another
- 46:56win. I mean, you got to take the guy
- 47:00serious. You got to take him serious.
- 47:02There's no shot. I mean, the what was the seconds
- 47:05he won by how many seconds he won by this race?
- 47:08Yeah. That's impressive.
- 47:09Yeah, yeah. 3.2. Yeah, he had a, he had a, he had
- 47:16a major gap. At one point.
- 47:17I was like, Jesus Christ, dude. Yeah, I mean, he had, yeah,
- 47:20exactly. The only person that was able to
- 47:22catch him was Martine. I'll get close enough to him
- 47:25because like and and at that type of point, Martine was in
- 47:28trouble as well. So yeah, so I mean, you know, a
- 47:32Honda looks like the the brand to catch these guys, right?
- 47:35No. No.
- 47:41I. Can't give you that one, no.
- 47:46We had no data. Do you want me to keep crashing?
- 47:49Right. I mean, you got one that crashes
- 47:51and one that shows up once in a blue moon, I mean.
- 47:55So so is it? Is it I?
- 47:57I heard the guys on Moto GP comment commentary saying April
- 48:01is the new reference. You guys agree with that?
- 48:05I agree. I can agree with that.
- 48:08I mean they are the new reference one.
- 48:13Who else is? Who else is there beside Ducati?
- 48:16And, and they just had, like I said last year, man, they're
- 48:19messing up, but they ain't want to see it.
- 48:20But we've seen it. Now let's talk about, you know,
- 48:29I feel worse for KTM than I do Yamaha because I think we knew
- 48:33what Yamaha was going through. But when you got a guy like
- 48:35Acosta doing what he's doing, and even though he's giving the
- 48:38bike, like he's giving the bike the finger, he's still the
- 48:41fastest KTM guy by by a mile. I mean, that's that like that's
- 48:46a problem, right? I mean, do you do this is do you
- 48:49fire all your riders and get new riders?
- 48:52I mean, I don't know why you have vanyalis.
- 48:55Yeah, I don't know why you have Vanyalis is Yeah, that's how.
- 49:00Yeah, that's him. Bassinini.
- 49:03I don't know what the hell he disappeared to.
- 49:05And and Brad Bender. Brad Bender just needs to be,
- 49:09you know, on on the crew. That's it.
- 49:12Like he's been holding that seat too long.
- 49:15Right. But is this is in the case of
- 49:18Vinyalas and Bassinini? Is that a new ownership issue or
- 49:24is it Lorenzo in whispering in in Vinyalis's ear?
- 49:29It's a Lorenzo and a KTM being broke issue.
- 49:40I mean, I expected so much out of Maverick to start this year.
- 49:45Me too. I know it's only a race 2, but
- 49:48he's been garbled like terrible, like both both grand prixs and,
- 49:54and stuff like that. But Kate, Pedro Costa is
- 49:57definitely holding it down. He's showing that even if he
- 50:01went to another team, he probably, you know, be up there
- 50:04because he has that drive. He has that.
- 50:06Will it doesn't matter what he's on.
- 50:08Yeah, he's mad at the bike but he doesn't have no support.
- 50:12Really. Seems like they show bring one
- 50:13like Bastionini. Like when is he show up?
- 50:16The last three rounds and then calls himself the Beast.
- 50:20Mavericks not showing up right now and then Brad Benders, like
- 50:24they said, been there forever. It's like he's just winging it
- 50:27like like Rinz right now, you know, on Yamaha, he's just just
- 50:31happy to have a contract. Rinz is like don't do.
- 50:35That Rinz. Rinz is doing all right.
- 50:37I listen. I'll keep Rinz before I keep Mia
- 50:39because his crash building. I would too.
- 50:42I would too. It's just.
- 50:43It's just. I was just comparing.
- 50:45Like out of the four Yamaha riders, range is like the the
- 50:48most content with everything or Fabio's like, ah, this ain't
- 50:52working. Range is like, yeah it's a great
- 50:53bike but but. Yeah, I, I.
- 51:00Think it's time for a shake up in KTM.
- 51:02Like a major one. Like just get rid of all four
- 51:07like. I'm sure.
- 51:09Kate Thompson doesn't want to be there, so might as well just
- 51:14just make the move. We we're getting, we're getting
- 51:17rid of. All all full riders.
- 51:20You got to, man. Yeah.
- 51:23Yeah, you need you. Need a shake up?
- 51:24New season. It's a new.
- 51:26Season coming, so there's. Got to be a big shake up.
- 51:31Yeah, he'll probably keep Brian Bender.
- 51:33No, yeah. No, I mean.
- 51:35Well, you know, let's talk about Yamaha and we'll talk about, you
- 51:39know, contracts and all that because, you know, I don't know
- 51:43what happened in the last few years.
- 51:45Moto GP was pretty good at keeping secrets, but apparently,
- 51:49you know, what's on the Internet is true.
- 51:51But let's talk about Yamaha and their struggles.
- 51:57You know, you mentioned Renz Quatarara was able to put that
- 52:00bike on 4th on the grid in fourth place.
- 52:02That kind of said to you, Quatarara might be able to do
- 52:05it. It was a small track and he
- 52:07tried to defend. I mean, he did try to defend.
- 52:10I mean he ended up dropping down the field in both in both races,
- 52:15but nonetheless, you know, top speed looking.
- 52:20This is not the best tracks to judge top speed.
- 52:22I think Coda would be a better job at top speed of that Yamaha,
- 52:27but the Ducati wasn't jumping out in front of that Yamaha like
- 52:31that or these other bikes. I mean, they, they, you know, it
- 52:33didn't look that bad. As far as power.
- 52:36I mean, is it matter just these guys getting more comfortable
- 52:38with the engine and maybe set up at this point 'cause I mean, I
- 52:43mean it, it was more noticeable, I think in the first round.
- 52:46But in this round, it didn't look like, you know, the bikes
- 52:50that were close to Quattrara was jumping out.
- 52:52And again, like I said, the dude was able to put the bike forth
- 52:56on the grid in qualifying. What are your thoughts, TJ?
- 53:01I think. I think the Yamaha just.
- 53:03Lost the step just at the end of the straightaway and no it
- 53:06wasn't long enough but this has to be set up because I feel like
- 53:10the Ducatis and the Prairie is able to attack the turn one a
- 53:14little harder or break harder. I would say also the Yamaha, but
- 53:21Fabio did a great job holding off Iron Gore for a couple laps
- 53:26defending, but it just it just didn't have enough.
- 53:29I think it just came down to that little straightaway where
- 53:32they just had just enough to get by just at the end to do a block
- 53:35pass into the corner. So this is still got a little.
- 53:41A lot of work to do on the Yamaha.
- 53:42But this was probably one of the tracks that will probably be
- 53:46best suited for them. So I think they're probably
- 53:49really be in trouble if they can't figure it out because this
- 53:51was their chance to to to get up there.
- 53:54I mean, they did fairly, I mean, let's see.
- 53:57I mean in the Sprint. You know Fabio did.
- 54:01OK. But other than that, I mean the
- 54:05Yamahas were 14, 1617, you know, they did mention if anybody
- 54:11broke any later. Than Quatararo, they're in the
- 54:12car park, so I mean and then and then and then Jack, Jack.
- 54:19Miller, Jack Miller couldn't even do like 2 laps before he
- 54:23and let it go. So like 203, it's right, you
- 54:30know, it's it's. It, it's tough, but we'll talk,
- 54:32we'll talk about crashing and all that because obviously
- 54:35nobody wants to crash. But what are your thoughts, man?
- 54:37Reese on Yamaha and you know, is, is our our even though it
- 54:44may not seem like it, are they making progress?
- 54:49The struggle is real, man. The struggle is real.
- 54:58Hopefully they're making. Progress.
- 54:59I mean, from what I hear, they. Won't even have the new, the new
- 55:02or the more powerful platform until mid season.
- 55:06And even that is still kind of skeptical.
- 55:11So I mean, hopefully they'll make a good thing and go ahead,
- 55:22you know? We'll see.
- 55:26Yeah, no, the the the. The struggle's real for Yamaha
- 55:29and and and indeed let's let's talk about these contracts
- 55:34because, you know, all these folks were it sounds like back.
- 55:40Nice. Signed already.
- 55:41If you listen to the commentators, it sounds like
- 55:43Acosta signed already. Sounds like Martina signed
- 55:47already. If you're listening to it sounds
- 55:49like a cop. Yeah.
- 55:52Did I say Costa already? Acosta signed.
- 55:55So what are your thoughts on that?
- 55:59Man, because if, if, if it's. True.
- 56:01And Martine goes to Yamaha. Why would you go to a brand
- 56:05that's not as quick as the brand you were leaving?
- 56:07I mean, I know why, because it's all politics.
- 56:09It's not his skill set. But Martine can't feel good
- 56:13about going to Yamaha. I mean, he set himself up for.
- 56:21This. I mean, you got to be, I mean,
- 56:26what, what do you want to say? I'm I'm not even mad if that if
- 56:29that's the case, because like all he did last year trying.
- 56:33To get out of his contract. And not to say that he, you
- 56:37know, Yamaha will turn out to be bad on the the new bikes, but,
- 56:41you know, I'm sure that's not where he wanted to go, but where
- 56:45I was skinny go. I mean, he's burned his bridges
- 56:48pretty much. And I was saying for this year
- 56:50and all he has to do is just shut up and ride and win and not
- 56:54complain. And I thought that yeah, that's
- 56:58the only. Way I feel like he can he can
- 57:01like get back on the playing field with with the crew, but I
- 57:04know we talked about like recent and the numbers guy was just
- 57:08like no he's done yeah no it it it's not I I hope he wins and.
- 57:12Stays with Yamaha but I mean Yamaha Aprilia but it sounds
- 57:15like Petco is with Aprilia which I think it's a win for Petco.
- 57:20I think it is AL for Ducati. It may not seem like it, but to
- 57:25them maybe. But like I think that that, you
- 57:28know, they should have kept Bagnaya.
- 57:30But if Bagnaya goes to Aprilia, is it a one for one trade?
- 57:36I mean, he has two world titles, Martine has one, but is it a one
- 57:39for one trade like, you know, Reese?
- 57:45Oh, Lost Reese, we'll go with TJ.
- 57:48Is that a one for one trade? You know with Bagnaya going to
- 57:53Aprilia and and losing Martine? Or, you know, Aprilia should
- 58:00find a way to keep Martine. I mean, it's tough like I, I.
- 58:06Think Aprilia should find a way to keep Martine just because he
- 58:09is a champion and you got a great package in the team right
- 58:13now. When you shake up a team, you
- 58:16got to build that chemistry all over again.
- 58:19Petco, I mean, obviously they can go to a different
- 58:22manufacturing ride like Mark went from Honda to Ducati.
- 58:26And but for Petco, I don't even has he ran rid anything other
- 58:31than Ducati. So for him to go to Aprilia,
- 58:33it's going to be obviously a learning curve, new bike and
- 58:37everything's going to be different.
- 58:38So it's going to be like, it's going to be like Bezecki leaving
- 58:41Ducati. And Martini leaving Ducati, I
- 58:45guess, yeah. I mean, it's going to take him a
- 58:48while to adapt, but you know, is it a one for one trade maybe?
- 58:57Dagnay got world title so. Which side are you?
- 58:59Leaning, I mean, I'll take, I'll take back.
- 59:05Out because he doesn't. I know he ain't going to
- 59:07complain, you know. I mean, he does complain, but
- 59:09not like bringing it down to the contract.
- 59:13He might, you know, upset with some things.
- 59:17He. Ain't using bots to sell
- 59:19records? What are you?
- 59:22Man, I mean, you know, is it a one for one trade?
- 59:24You know, I mean, I do think Martine loses if he goes to
- 59:28Honda or Yamaha if if Aprilia is a reference, which is
- 59:32unfortunate, but if Bagnaya is with Aprilia next season, like
- 59:39is it a win for Bagnaya? Could be, I mean for back now I
- 59:55had to leave and go to another manufacturer.
- 59:58It might be good for him, might do him some justice, you know,
- 1:00:01build the confidence back up. You know, it's sometimes, you
- 1:00:03know, you once you get that bad taste in your mouth with
- 1:00:05another, with one one it just it's like a snowball effect.
- 1:00:09It just keeps happening. It happened.
- 1:00:10It happened. So, you know, once he gets on
- 1:00:12something different and something new, IT might be good
- 1:00:15for him and and. Martine we.
- 1:00:20We can all say it's not a win for him going to Honda or or
- 1:00:24Yamaha, but it sounds like it's Yamaha.
- 1:00:26It sounds like it's Yamaha. But again.
- 1:00:30Here we go again, which which I was talking about again earlier.
- 1:00:33I mean, we're going to another whole era of, you know, we.
- 1:00:38Don't know what somebody's bringing.
- 1:00:40We don't. I mean, you're slowing the bikes
- 1:00:42down a little bit. I mean, you can see that Yamaha,
- 1:00:45like you were saying in the beginning with the tracks, you
- 1:00:48know, they don't have a lot. This track didn't have a lot of
- 1:00:51straightaway. So you know, it may not affected
- 1:00:54them as much. I mean, so, you know, going
- 1:00:56slowing the bike down. Yamaha may, you know, turn
- 1:00:59around, have a different have a different output looked on this.
- 1:01:02So you never know. We don't know what they're going
- 1:01:04to do next year. All right, so it's it's 0. 0 is
- 1:01:07what you're saying. Love love love.
- 1:01:09That's what I say. I, I say it's a 0.
- 1:01:11It's a. Even platform at this point.
- 1:01:16We talked about KTM, let's talk about the rookies, Top Rock and
- 1:01:20Diego. Diego overall is he is the
- 1:01:24rookie of the year 2 rounds in if you ask me.
- 1:01:29But Tap Rock wasn't, you know, the last man standing.
- 1:01:32What are your thoughts? Is it more the platform than the
- 1:01:35riders at this point? I would say it's more of a.
- 1:01:43It's kind of like both. I mean, the riders have to get
- 1:01:45used to certain things and the platform has to get a little
- 1:01:48better. I mean, Yamaha's platform
- 1:01:51definitely had to get better. So it it.
- 1:01:54Could be a little bit of both, and it could.
- 1:01:56Be just even even Steven right now, it's like, you know, top
- 1:02:02rack. I mean, top rack can ride.
- 1:02:04He's a he's a hell of a rider, but the platform that he's on is
- 1:02:08just not it's just not it, you know, so and then the guys that
- 1:02:12do have the platform, they just have to catch up to that
- 1:02:14platform, right. But I mean, even still, he
- 1:02:17should he, you know, he. He, I don't know what that his
- 1:02:19standard is, but he should be at least one or two on that bike
- 1:02:23though, even though it's not the best bike, right?
- 1:02:26But then again, here we go. I mean.
- 1:02:27He's coming from a production bike now you're going into, you
- 1:02:30know, so let's give him time. Yeah, give him.
- 1:02:33Time he's got to change up. You know, he had a certain
- 1:02:36riding style. He's coming from the stunt world
- 1:02:38that was down racing, which is very great.
- 1:02:41So you know, he's got to, he's got to do a lot of, he's got to
- 1:02:44change up a whole lot of riding style to get to that that bike
- 1:02:47and that bike has got to get well in form.
- 1:02:52Got to remember press that right hand.
- 1:02:53Device going down the street. Imagine going down but damn I
- 1:02:58forgot. To press it.
- 1:02:59I got to press it, you know? Yeah, he.
- 1:03:02Used to a lot of a lot of things.
- 1:03:04And different body position, like Reese said.
- 1:03:07And it's just just a whole lot of, of learning to do.
- 1:03:12I mean, Diego's doing the same thing.
- 1:03:16I mean. Diego's doing the same thing,
- 1:03:18but I think like. Reese's saying he has a better
- 1:03:20package overall, and I feel like he's also a good rider, so when
- 1:03:24he wants to latch 1 to somebody to see their lines, his package
- 1:03:29can keep up better than with top racks on.
- 1:03:32So it's a little harder to figure out for him and I'm sure
- 1:03:37he'll get it. But Diego's definitely the
- 1:03:39rookie of the year so far. I I I completely agree.
- 1:03:44All right, let's talk about, I mean, you know, Lewis isn't
- 1:03:46here, but let's, let's, let's talk about where we're at now,
- 1:03:50guys. And, and, and we can see the
- 1:03:53scores overall, which is, you know, somewhat unfortunate.
- 1:03:58Unfortunate, but, you know, we got Lewis with a total of 79
- 1:04:02points. Reese in second place is 67
- 1:04:05points. I'm not quite sure how I'm down
- 1:04:08with just 45 points, but I think it's because I picked more of a
- 1:04:11deli. Holy crap.
- 1:04:17Man, I'm trying to get into front place.
- 1:04:22This is This is where. We are right now after 2 rounds,
- 1:04:27pretty, pretty wild to see. Pretty cool to see too.
- 1:04:31But you know the number of guys in here give, give, give.
- 1:04:34He'll have some bragging rights on the field next week when he
- 1:04:37comes on. But it's only around 2:00 so I
- 1:04:39guess we got to pick some people for this round coming up.
- 1:04:43I'll get I'll get Luis is off here, so at least we'll we'll
- 1:04:47have his. What are you looking to see, TJ?
- 1:04:53Man like. Choose wisely, Choose wisely.
- 1:04:58I mean I can only go like. With with you know how, how it's
- 1:05:03going. So Prairie is definitely going
- 1:05:05to be up there, but gotta go with, you know.
- 1:05:09Bez is going. To be for sure up there, what's
- 1:05:12going on with Sprint first, right?
- 1:05:13So I'll say Bez, I'll say Marc Marquez is definitely trying to
- 1:05:21win another championship. So he's going to be up there and
- 1:05:27I'm going to have to say, I'm going to have to say Pedro
- 1:05:33Acosta for the spread. OK, so.
- 1:05:38And yeah. And then?
- 1:05:41For my GP. I'll say, say.
- 1:05:47Mark, Alex and I'll. Say Bezeki.
- 1:05:51OK. All right.
- 1:05:54What are you going with, Harry? I mean, of course.
- 1:05:58I mean, we're going. To Koda, you know, I'm on my way
- 1:06:00there now, so I got to go with the King of Koda, which is Mark,
- 1:06:04you know, he that is this track. He's been looking forward to
- 1:06:06what he said. You know, we'll see how his
- 1:06:08injury holds up. I mean, and we know the track
- 1:06:11surface is prepped and ready to go.
- 1:06:13You know, so I got to go with King of Koda.
- 1:06:15Both Sprint and GPI got to go with Bazecki, and then I got to
- 1:06:23go, you know, unfortunately, I'm going to change it up and I'm
- 1:06:25going with Jorge Martin. OK, All right, all right.
- 1:06:29That's all three all. Right.
- 1:06:31I like it. I mean, that's pretty much how
- 1:06:34I'm going to go. I think I'm going with my team
- 1:06:36for both. I'm going with Bezeqi for both
- 1:06:40and tough I would say. Biliyalis because he was nice.
- 1:06:53Last year, but he got, he got disqualified because of tire
- 1:06:56pressure, right? Or something like that, you
- 1:07:01know? What I'm going to go I'm.
- 1:07:03Going to Iagura, I'm doing all I'm doing all Aprilia 123 who
- 1:07:10that's still a. Good though.
- 1:07:12Yeah, I know. Agora.
- 1:07:18Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's.
- 1:07:19He's 'cause he was not I, I. Know, I think it was Raul that
- 1:07:22was nice last year. I don't remember if it was him
- 1:07:23or or whatever, but I think he had a good outing and and I
- 1:07:26agree, I agree was looking nice. He did 2 fifth places.
- 1:07:29So I'll take that. I mean, did you has a chance
- 1:07:32too, right? So I mean, obviously all these
- 1:07:34riders do. We're only picking 3 and it is
- 1:07:37what it is. And you know, I mean, did you is
- 1:07:39showing some light, but we need consistency with him.
- 1:07:44You know, I think I agree with pre was more consistent last
- 1:07:47year until his injury and he's showing that he got something
- 1:07:51already this year. So and obviously Bez and Martine
- 1:07:54are showing something. So, you know, and you know,
- 1:07:58Marquez didn't get on the podium for the GP.
- 1:08:01So I. Got to go with the King Dakota
- 1:08:05man I. I I can't leave him out and this
- 1:08:08is his track. He's been undefeated ever since
- 1:08:11we came. He's been there.
- 1:08:12So he didn't get it last year. Hey.
- 1:08:15He's still there. He.
- 1:08:17Didn't get it? Yeah, when rings won it.
- 1:08:19On a Honda we know, but who's got the most?
- 1:08:23Well, yeah, listen, I mean, Bill Russell got the most rings, I
- 1:08:28mean. But you know what I'm saying?
- 1:08:30We working on it, right? Hey, well, you got to go with
- 1:08:32the odds though. You got to go with.
- 1:08:33The odds but but looking at this past round at mark.
- 1:08:38You know, it's it's still hard. Yeah, it's still hard.
- 1:08:42But the. Track surface sucks and the man.
- 1:08:47Is old and don't want to. Hurt anymore.
- 1:08:49He likes to wake up and feel all every every bone and body part
- 1:08:54he has. I mean, hey, listen, I.
- 1:08:57Don't blame him on that. I.
- 1:08:59Want to walk? Well, no, I I agree.
- 1:09:01That's the whole. Thing I, I, I, I do feel, I
- 1:09:04mean, obviously we all do after at some point in our 30s, you
- 1:09:09know, we, we, we stop, you know, we, we, we start to care more
- 1:09:12about our body and our health, right?
- 1:09:17That's exactly what it is. We're like, yeah, now we going
- 1:09:20to. I'm not doing that no more.
- 1:09:23Sorry. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:09:24I'm not I'm. Not racing with these 20 year
- 1:09:26olds no more on these hard sixes.
- 1:09:27They give you a small bite as Lewis would say.
- 1:09:31Man, we don't bounce like that, no.
- 1:09:32More man, we just go dud. Which is I mean for.
- 1:09:39Marquez, it's not. Unfortunate because he's had an
- 1:09:42illustrious career and you think of people like Penny Hardaway or
- 1:09:45Grand Hill and some of these or even you know, some of the guys
- 1:09:48in in you know, speeds or some of these guys that got hurt and
- 1:09:51they get a chance, right. He's he he has titles and he
- 1:09:54didn't have to bow out because the injuries to get the before
- 1:09:57getting those titles. So honestly, when you look at it
- 1:10:00and look at him, it's like, listen, right now I'm tied with
- 1:10:03with one of the best. SO it's like, you know, it's
- 1:10:06like 1 in worst case it's three people.
- 1:10:08Me, Rossi and Agostini. Come on, man, I'm good.
- 1:10:12Exactly. At this point I'm good.
- 1:10:14I. Mean I'm up there in the top
- 1:10:15three and I'm, I'm in the goat. You know, I'm, I'm in the goat
- 1:10:19category. I'm, I'm in one of the goats.
- 1:10:21So I'm good. My legacy is sealed.
- 1:10:24Yeah, definitely. So it it you know.
- 1:10:28So we'll see what happens throughout the year.
- 1:10:29I don't I don't see Marquez. It doesn't seem like Marquez is
- 1:10:32willing. He's he's not the Marquez of
- 1:10:35years before where he's he was willing to send it.
- 1:10:38Do you do you think that? No, he.
- 1:10:41He's more, he's more surgical. Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:10:45You think? That, as I say, you think that
- 1:10:47his. Reason to wait to sign a
- 1:10:49contract is because he needs to know if he can win a
- 1:10:53championship. If you don't think he has a shot
- 1:10:55in winning, you don't think he or Did he already sign I?
- 1:10:59Didn't see that yet. He didn't.
- 1:11:01Sign yet and and I'm and he's the one.
- 1:11:03That wanted to hold off because I think Ducati wanted to sign
- 1:11:05them. And, and that's very, it's, it's
- 1:11:07very strange because, you know, I know Lewis said he was doing
- 1:11:11it for leverage, but, you know, if he, if he can't perform at
- 1:11:18the same level he performed last year, he's going to lose that
- 1:11:21leverage, you know? So you know, I don't.
- 1:11:26Know if he's trying to do like a Czarco with KTM and just saying
- 1:11:30you know what I'm saying, I'm all set, I'm good.
- 1:11:32You know what I mean? I don't I don't have to I'm not
- 1:11:34I don't want to take your money because I can't ride this bike
- 1:11:37or if he was looking to get more money.
- 1:11:40But if Aprugia keeps winning and and he's not on the podium.
- 1:11:45At all, it's going to be. Hard to get that money.
- 1:11:49I just I. Just wonder if that's why he's
- 1:11:51just like. Yeah, just give me a second
- 1:11:52because like, let me sneak a couple more rounds in.
- 1:11:55Like he'd probably just say if I can get Koda, then yeah, I can
- 1:11:59probably resign because I could probably win the rest a lot of
- 1:12:02races and possibly contempt for another championship.
- 1:12:06Because if he can't get it, then you know, that that that puts
- 1:12:10you put you on like Rossi, where, you know, he couldn't win
- 1:12:13anymore. You know, just like I've done
- 1:12:17enough. I don't want to get hurt again.
- 1:12:19Yeah, yeah, I mean it. It is.
- 1:12:21It is a. Thing I think that's it guys.
- 1:12:26I want to you know, thank you guys for coming on.
