- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food. Freshly
- 0:05Speaker 1: made with Reburger.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Welcome to the Hodaki Big Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike
- 0:14Speaker 2: Minogue and Keezy. Oh, g'day, you mad bastards.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Great to have your company on this glorious Wednesday afternoon.
- 0:23Speaker 2: It is the 28th of October, 2026.
- 0:25Speaker 3: And you, my friends, as always, listening to the big
- 0:28Speaker 3: show brought to you by Reburger.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 0:32Speaker 4: away Reburger today.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Mmm, yummy. Certainly is. G'day, Mogi, you stallion. How's life?
- 0:41Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty grassy, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:45Speaker 4: a bee, yeah. Yeah, you know what, Jase? I'd have
- 0:47Speaker 4: to say that the warmer weather, it agrees with.
- 0:50Speaker 3: You, man.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks, man.
- 0:51Speaker 4: You seem more relaxed.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, totes.
- 0:53Speaker 4: More chill.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 0:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm chill-ass.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Absolutely loving it. How about you, Keezy? How are you going? Yeah, good, fellas.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Certainly a beautiful day here today.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Great day to be alive.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Can I just say, and I've been really impressed the
- 1:07Speaker 3: last couple of days.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Just how white your T-shirts are.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Thank you. I just washed them.
- 1:14Speaker 2: They are immaculate.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Mogi's got a tidy whitey on, but it's nowhere near
- 1:20Speaker 3: the glistening, sparkling sort of thing that yours has.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Thanks, Jase.
- 1:25Speaker 4: This is a relatively new T-shirt.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I'd also say it's of a higher quality than Mogi's
- 1:30Speaker 4: by the looks of it.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Right, okay, yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Well, that is an absolute kick in the gut.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:35Speaker 4: To start the show.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Jeez.
- 1:38Speaker 4: What a kick in the gut.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I forgot he gets a bit touchy about T-shirt quality. Jase, though,
- 1:46Speaker 4: how are you going, man?
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, good, thanks, man. Can't complain.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I think spring has sprung. It's been a beautiful day.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Beautiful day in the city and.
- 1:54Speaker 2: City of sales. The city of sales.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Went down to the harbour today, got myself a coffee,
- 1:58Speaker 3: had a little wander around, finished off my hot pot
- 2:02Speaker 3: from the night before.
- 2:02Speaker 4: It's been a good day.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It's been a good day.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Hey, speaking of good, jeez, you're going to be excited
- 2:09Speaker 3: about what's coming up.
- 2:11Speaker 2: What's happening on The Big Show?
- 2:17Speaker 5: Have you heard the phrase, black cap, Jase?
- 2:21Speaker 2: Sure have, man.
- 2:22Speaker 5: We're going to have a couple of them joining us
- 2:24Speaker 5: later on in the show. After five, as a matter
- 2:26Speaker 5: of fact, Adam Milne and Jacob Duffy, a couple of
- 2:28Speaker 5: legends that both got smashed around the park last night
- 2:31Speaker 5: down in Wellington against India.
- 2:32Speaker 2: It was carnage.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Looking forward to having a chat to them about that.
- 2:35Speaker 4: It's going to be a little bit awkward, I think.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Also over double pass to give away to this Friday's game.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Sold out in Auckland.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Sold out.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Forget about it. If you haven't got your tickets, forget
- 2:43Speaker 5: about it. Unless you want this double pass, in which case,
- 2:45Speaker 5: stay tuned.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 5: ITM trade-off is happening again. Stay tuned for.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Can I apologise to you guys? What? Stay listening for
- 2:55Speaker 4: the cue to call. When you hear that, give us
- 2:57Speaker 4: a call.
- 2:57Speaker 5: On 0800 Hauraki and you might be able to trade
- 3:00Speaker 5: one of your shitter tools for an absolute backbone tool.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Last night, the guy's tool was worth $ 2, 700. Crazy. $ 2, 699
- 3:06Speaker 4: plus GST.
- 3:07Speaker 6: Yes.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Can I put it to you that way? Fellas, I've
- 3:11Speaker 5: caught a bug.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I've caught a real bad bug.
- 3:15Speaker 5: And we're going to get into that. I don't know
- 3:16Speaker 5: if it's next. We haven't really talked about the run
- 3:17Speaker 5: of the show. That's not how we do it around here.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:19Speaker 4: But it's going to be on the show at some point. Sure, man.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Sounds good, Mogi. God, I'm fired up.
- 3:25Speaker 4: It's going to be a ripper, man. It's going to
- 3:29Speaker 4: be huge.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Anything else about it, Keezy?
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yeah, okay.
- 3:32Speaker 2: He's queen to the Stone Age.
- 3:34Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Radiohead there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Wednesday afternoon.
- 3:43Speaker 3: The time is 14 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Fellas, I've got a bone to pick. I've got a
- 3:49Speaker 4: bone to pick.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Fellas there, I've got a little trip coming up this weekend.
- 3:57Speaker 5: I'm going away to celebrate my 50th birthday. I don't
- 4:00Speaker 5: know if you know that I've turned 50.
- 4:01Speaker 6: Wow.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah, I'm still trying to get my head around it.
- 4:05Speaker 3: It just seems so old.
- 4:09Speaker 5: And so I'm going away with some mates there, and
- 4:11Speaker 5: we're staying at a place. It's right on the beach.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Nice place.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Treat yourself. You know, that's what I say sometimes.
- 4:17Speaker 2: You deserve it. Thanks, man.
- 4:18Speaker 4: And so I paid a pretty penny for it. You know,
- 4:21Speaker 4: it's not free. I'll tell you that.
- 4:23Speaker 6: No.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Anyway, you pay the money. All good.
- 4:26Speaker 5: And then about a week or so before you arrive
- 4:29Speaker 5: at the property, before the booking, they send you an
- 4:31Speaker 5: email and they say, this is where the key is.
- 4:35Speaker 5: In this case, they said, don't turn the fireplace on
- 4:38Speaker 5: inside the house.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Sweet. Why not?
- 4:42Speaker 5: Well, because it's broken. Even though you can still turn
- 4:46Speaker 5: it on. To me, it just sounds like they're being a-holes.
- 4:48Speaker 4: They don't want you to use the gas. That's right.
- 4:50Speaker 4: So this place is on the beach. So all of
- 4:52Speaker 4: those sorts of things.
- 4:53Speaker 5: And another thing that was in there, outside of you
- 4:56Speaker 5: have to pay a $ 2, 000 bond, which is bullshit.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Is this for Airbnb?
- 5:01Speaker 6: Yes.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Never heard of that.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Never heard of it either.
- 5:04Speaker 5: They've said, also, we don't supply towels for the beach.
- 5:09Speaker 5: If you want a beach towel for this house that's
- 5:11Speaker 5: on the beach, you have to pay $ 10 each for
- 5:16Speaker 5: the luxury.
- 5:17Speaker 4: And I'm fuming.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 4: I'm fuming. Did that bug you?
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yes.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Because if it's a beach house and it's on the
- 5:28Speaker 5: beach and there's a beach right there and it's swimming time,
- 5:31Speaker 5: isn't it, pretty much?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:32Speaker 4: You'd expect that they would just throw that in. And
- 5:35Speaker 4: you're paying a billion dollars.
- 5:37Speaker 2: And you're paying a lot of money. And you're paying
- 5:38Speaker 2: a pretty penny, as you said. That's right.
- 5:40Speaker 5: And, you know, wouldn't you just say, okay, we can
- 5:42Speaker 5: just eat that, and if they don't use the towels,
- 5:44Speaker 5: and it costs us nothing for laundry, but we'll have
- 5:46Speaker 5: them sitting there because we're not scumbags. Yes. I find
- 5:50Speaker 5: it absolutely bewildering, and I can't wait to give them
- 5:53Speaker 5: a zero rating.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Yeah. When I leave.
- 5:56Speaker 5: But what is that all about? What's happened to the
- 5:58Speaker 5: hospitality in this country, Keezy? I ask of you, man.
- 6:01Speaker 2: What I.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys know this, but I
- 6:04Speaker 3: recently did a road trip in Australia.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:07Speaker 3: And it was a surprise to me. And you guys
- 6:11Speaker 3: really must go over there.
- 6:12Speaker 2: It's beautiful. Yeah, yeah. We were all there together. It's extraordinary.
- 6:16Speaker 2: It's an extraordinary place.
- 6:19Speaker 3: And it was a surprise to me because we got
- 6:21Speaker 3: caught out on that same front, Mogi.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:24Speaker 3: But it was for an Airbnb. But there were no towels,
- 6:27Speaker 3: not even bath towels. And it's like, who has a
- 6:30Speaker 3: B & B and doesn't have towels in it?
- 6:33Speaker 4: So they expect you to fly from New Zealand.
- 6:35Speaker 3: All the way from New Zealand and just bring your
- 6:37Speaker 3: own towels. And we didn't realise that.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It was a hell of a hurr.
- 6:41Speaker 3: You know, here I am drying myself with my undies.
- 6:46Speaker 2: The MeUndies.
- 6:49Speaker 4: So they didn't have, like, hand towels?
- 6:51Speaker 3: Oh, they had little hand towels, but I mean, I'm
- 6:54Speaker 3: not in Japan. I'm not going to some spa with
- 6:57Speaker 3: a little hand towel to dry myself.
- 6:59Speaker 2: You're sitting on an 8-incher.
- 7:01Speaker 4: For anyone who has no idea what that reference is,
- 7:03Speaker 4: it's going to sound terrible. Surely a tea towel would
- 7:06Speaker 4: be enough to do the job on you, though, James.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I don't want to do the tea towel
- 7:09Speaker 3: and then use it to dry dishes.
- 7:11Speaker 4: That's true. There'd be two tea towels, one for you
- 7:13Speaker 4: to use as a beach towel that would cover you
- 7:16Speaker 4: with ample space to spare and one to dry the
- 7:19Speaker 4: dishes with.
- 7:21Speaker 2: So I take your point, Mogi.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Well, I've got to email them back because they're waiting
- 7:24Speaker 5: for me to email back with the credit card details,
- 7:26Speaker 5: and I'm just going to say to them, you know,
- 7:28Speaker 5: I don't know how passive-aggressive to go with it. So
- 7:30Speaker 5: you're saying, sorry, this beach house that's on the beach,
- 7:32Speaker 5: it doesn't come with the towels there.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 7:35Speaker 5: I've got to get to the bottom of it, but
- 7:36Speaker 5: I'm sure that there are people out there that have
- 7:39Speaker 5: had similarly infuriating experience. It's just so minor.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:43Speaker 4: You're talking about the difference of $ 60 or $ 80.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 4: In the scheme of thousands of dollars. Why are you
- 7:50Speaker 4: such an a-hole?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Obviously a loaded person too because the house would be
- 7:55Speaker 4: worth a lot of money on the beach there.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Yeah, it's very, very odd. And I'm going to find
- 7:59Speaker 5: a way to get that squeeze. I'm going to squeeze
- 8:01Speaker 5: that money out of them somewhere, I'm telling you. I
- 8:02Speaker 5: reckon you should make that the whole purpose of all
- 8:05Speaker 5: of your energy of the whole weekend.
- 8:07Speaker 4: It's going to be my sole focus. I promise you that.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Spend the entire weekend thinking about it.
- 8:14Speaker 6: Fuming.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yeah, fuming.
- 8:16Speaker 4: I'm going to give everybody on that trip the silent treatment.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Here's Oasis.
- 8:24Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:27Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Yes, indeed, Arctic Monkeys there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show.
- 8:34Speaker 3: This Wednesday afternoon, the time is 4.26 and we're talking Airbnbs.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Yeah, Mogi's in a hoover of a mood.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I am.
- 8:42Speaker 4: He's going to Waiheke Island this weekend for his 50th
- 8:45Speaker 4: and you've paid a pretty penny for a lovely batch
- 8:48Speaker 4: over there on the beach and it doesn't include towels,
- 8:51Speaker 4: beach towels.
- 8:52Speaker 5: It's absolutely insane, isn't it? When you get in these places,
- 8:56Speaker 5: don't you need all of the things that you as
- 8:58Speaker 5: a human being would normally have at your own home?
- 9:01Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:01Speaker 5: To take the things out of the house and then
- 9:08Speaker 5: charge per item to put them back in seems a bit.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Mercenary.
- 9:13Speaker 4: Thank you. Infuriating. It's interesting because I'm also at an
- 9:18Speaker 4: Airbnb this weekend. We're moving out of our house on
- 9:21Speaker 4: Friday there, our West Auckland granny flat. And we're moving
- 9:25Speaker 4: into another house, but not till Sunday night.
- 9:28Speaker 2: A Devonport granny flat.
- 9:29Speaker 4: That's right. A Devonport granny flat on the North Shore there,
- 9:31Speaker 4: thanks to a friend of ours whose parents have a
- 9:33Speaker 4: granny flat situation, renting it to us. Very nice. In
- 9:36Speaker 4: the meantime, I have to spend two nights in an
- 9:38Speaker 4: Airbnb in Auckland. And my wife seriously just said cheapest
- 9:42Speaker 4: available in Auckland. And the best option is an apartment
- 9:46Speaker 4: next door to Jase's apartment.
- 9:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 9:49Speaker 4: The cheapest part of town. It's cheap. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 6: Wow.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Well, if that's the case, it won't be next.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Door to my pad.
- 9:55Speaker 2: No, it is.
- 9:56Speaker 4: It's looking down on your pad.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Oh, is it?
- 9:58Speaker 4: Really?
- 9:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Garden view looking straight at Hoity J's building.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Into my lounge.
- 10:04Speaker 4: It looks into your lounge.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 4: And I guess, yeah, just trying to figure out why
- 10:08Speaker 4: is it so cheap there?
- 10:11Speaker 2: That area? Yeah, that area.
- 10:12Speaker 4: What is it? What is it exactly? Like where you live.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Where I live.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Yeah, why is it so cheap?
- 10:17Speaker 2: She ain't cheap.
- 10:18Speaker 3: As Mogi would say, paying a pretty penny, Keezy.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Oh, yes, sirree, Bob.
- 10:28Speaker 4: It's just that it was by far and away the
- 10:30Speaker 4: cheapest option on Airbnb.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Well, I'd be very tentative then.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Because people fall for this trap of going, oh, that's
- 10:38Speaker 3: very reasonable.
- 10:39Speaker 2: As have I. And then you get in there and
- 10:42Speaker 2: it's an absolute abomination. No towels. No towels. No cutlery,
- 10:47Speaker 2: no plates, no bed. No delis.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Well, no, it has all of those things.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Oh, right.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Because we checked. It also has a washer and a dryer.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Which is cool. Rich guy.
- 10:59Speaker 3: My wife was actually really concerned about that because we've
- 11:02Speaker 3: got a washer and dryer in the apartment, obviously, because
- 11:04Speaker 3: we don't have a facility in terms of hanging your
- 11:07Speaker 3: washing out, which she used to like doing. And she
- 11:10Speaker 3: was like, oh, I don't know how I feel about
- 11:11Speaker 3: just using machines the whole time.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Now she loves it.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Yeah, it destroys your clothes. Well, it does. But with yours,
- 11:18Speaker 4: if it's straight out of the op shop then. Or
- 11:21Speaker 4: it's stolen from work. I know what you mean, though, because,
- 11:25Speaker 4: you know, we like to do a half-and-half situation where
- 11:28Speaker 4: it's like, oh, this, you know, we've been using the
- 11:30Speaker 4: dryer a lot lately. Let's put it out on the
- 11:32Speaker 4: clothes horse. Yeah. Or a washing line.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Well, look, I'm really excited that you're going to be
- 11:41Speaker 3: my neighbour, Keezy. The concern that I have that you're
- 11:45Speaker 3: going to be pestering me for, like, do you have
- 11:48Speaker 3: any spare sugar?
- 11:49Speaker 2: We don't have any sugar.
- 11:50Speaker 4: We're there for two nights.
- 11:52Speaker 2: It's just down the road, Kesey. There's a supermarket. Come on, mate.
- 11:54Speaker 4: I'm not going to be making a pavlova or something.
- 11:56Speaker 3: But what I'm really looking forward to is taking you
- 12:00Speaker 3: under my heavy bosom and just walking you through the city,
- 12:04Speaker 3: the places to be, the places not to be.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Because she's pretty dangerous in the big CBD there.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I'll tell you that much for tuppence.
- 12:13Speaker 6: 100%.
- 12:13Speaker 4: I am actually a bit worried. Genuinely, that area where
- 12:16Speaker 4: you live, It's a hellscape. It is a hellscape. There's
- 12:20Speaker 4: a lot going on there.
- 12:21Speaker 3: There has been a lot going on, particularly in the
- 12:24Speaker 3: last five days. It's been absolutely full on.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Yeah, there was like a really terrible thing happened over
- 12:29Speaker 4: the weekend, and I was like, cool, that's right outside
- 12:31Speaker 4: my Airbnb there.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 5: So it's all G though, right? And they'll see you
- 12:35Speaker 5: from a mile away as well, Keezy. This is the problem.
- 12:38Speaker 5: Any ne'er-do-wells, they can smell a soft on.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Yes, yes. And once they get a load of you,
- 12:48Speaker 4: I fear.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:49Speaker 4: I fear for your safety.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Same, man. I mean, they all go, look how green
- 12:54Speaker 2: this kid is. Exactly. You know what I mean?
- 12:56Speaker 3: With his bright, clean, white T-shirts and backwards cap.
- 13:01Speaker 5: It's like somebody stepping off a bus from, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 5: from Alabama or something, getting off the bus there in
- 13:07Speaker 5: Los Angeles with a hay sticking out of there, you know,
- 13:10Speaker 5: sucking on a stick of hay there. Just a little bit.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Wide-eyed Keezy would be my concern. So we're going to
- 13:18Speaker 5: have to dress you up. You're going to have to
- 13:20Speaker 5: dress tough. That's why you notice Jase only wears black now.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Because he's tough.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Right, okay.
- 13:26Speaker 5: So that's what we're going to have to do, and
- 13:27Speaker 5: I think a makeover for Keezy for the two days
- 13:29Speaker 5: that he's living in the CBD.
- 13:31Speaker 2: They call me Johnny Cash on the streets.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Do they?
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, just because of how I dress.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Because he's got no money.
- 13:37Speaker 2: And I've got no money.
- 13:39Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Yeah, bloody good stuff, this competition. It is the season
- 13:56Speaker 3: for gigs. The weather's perfect. The days are longer. Go
- 14:00Speaker 3: out and see some tunes, why don't you? Let's go
- 14:03Speaker 3: to the phone lines.
- 14:05Speaker 2: G'day, Nika. How's life? Oh, I'm doing very well.
- 14:09Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 14:09Speaker 2: How are you? Yeah, very good, thank you. Tell me, Nika,
- 14:12Speaker 2: what do you do for a crust?
- 14:14Speaker 1: I'm a hand therapist.
- 14:17Speaker 4: What does that entail, you sicko?
- 14:20Speaker 3: Well, it's rehab of people's hands.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Really?
- 14:26Speaker 6: Yeah, in hospitals.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Oh, nice. I've been to a hand therapist. Remember with
- 14:34Speaker 2: my mallet? Have you heard of mallet finger, Nika?
- 14:38Speaker 4: I see mallet fingers all the time.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Jase, didn't you have another experience where the guy released
- 14:44Speaker 5: something in your hand and you just burst into tears
- 14:46Speaker 5: or something along those lines?
- 14:47Speaker 4: There's some guy.
- 14:48Speaker 2: You went and saw. Oh, no, he gave me a
- 14:49Speaker 2: hand massage and I threw up. I spewed. I got
- 14:54Speaker 2: home and just spewed everywhere. What the hell?
- 14:58Speaker 4: It was so weird. Hey, Mika, we've got $ 250 cash
- 15:00Speaker 4: here for you from Super Liquor. Oh, my God, that's amazing.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Before we give it to you, what gig would you
- 15:07Speaker 4: like to go and see?
- 15:08Speaker 6: Well, I'd love to go see Chasing Status in Hamilton.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Chasing Status. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Chasing Status. Yeah, nice. Nice, I like it.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Do you like Chasing Status, Jase?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Chasing Status.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Totally, I do.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Nika, that $ 250 cash is all yours, mate.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Thank you so much.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Oh, you're welcome. Enjoy it.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Of course, Jase, they're behind the number one hit, Backbone.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Which you'll be familiar with, which has Stormzy singing away there. Oh, yeah. Stormzy.
- 15:41Speaker 2: God, he's a character, isn't he?
- 15:42Speaker 4: Stormzy?
- 15:43Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Yeah, he's the man. Don't forget, Super Liquor are keen
- 15:47Speaker 4: to get you a gig in. $ 250 cash to win
- 15:50Speaker 4: whenever you hear the roar of the encore. All you've
- 15:51Speaker 4: got to do is the same thing that Nika just
- 15:54Speaker 4: did and call us an 0800-HODUCKY when you hear it.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yeah, great stuff.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Now, just on that story, by the way, that you
- 16:00Speaker 3: were referring to there, Mogi, I'd just been filming with Peel.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Oh, that's right. And I was in the studio.
- 16:08Speaker 3: I was pretty stressed and my car wouldn't start. And
- 16:11Speaker 3: one of the guys was an extra on this particular
- 16:15Speaker 3: shoot we were doing. And I was on the phone
- 16:17Speaker 3: and effing and jeffing to my wife going, God.
- 16:19Speaker 2: This bloody car.
- 16:21Speaker 3: And this guy was just whispering to him and he said,
- 16:27Speaker 3: And I was like, what the– this is weird. And
- 16:30Speaker 3: he massaged my hand for about five minutes. Just one hand?
- 16:35Speaker 2: Just one hand.
- 16:36Speaker 3: And I felt these two vessels in my arm just
- 16:40Speaker 3: open up. Like my arm just felt really weird. And
- 16:43Speaker 3: he said, you've got a lot going on. You've got
- 16:46Speaker 3: a lot going on, mate.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And I went, oh, thanks.
- 16:48Speaker 3: I didn't think anything of it. Finally got my car home,
- 16:52Speaker 3: got home and was sitting on the couch.
- 16:53Speaker 2: And went, oh, jeez, I don't feel very good.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Went outside into the back lawn and threw up the
- 16:59Speaker 3: most black, horrendous vom I've ever done in my life.
- 17:05Speaker 3: And I vomited for about all day after that and
- 17:09Speaker 3: all night. Woke up the next day feeling a million bucks.
- 17:12Speaker 4: You'd been on the heroin though, hadn't you?
- 17:14Speaker 2: True.
- 17:15Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 17:19Speaker 3: The Hives there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 17:22Speaker 3: Wednesday afternoon.
- 17:24Speaker 2: The time is 4.50. Fellas, let's talk TV.
- 17:29Speaker 3: What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Yeah! That's right.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Hey, fellas there. Last night I watched the Whiteley Art Scandals.
- 17:46Speaker 5: This documentary series follows the two men accused of selling
- 17:49Speaker 5: forged Brett Whiteley paintings in one of Australia's most controversial
- 17:54Speaker 5: art fraud cases. So a few of these turned up,
- 17:59Speaker 5: these pieces of art, by a well-known Australian artist and
- 18:04Speaker 5: got sold as being the real deal.
- 18:07Speaker 4: And one of them was sold for $ 5 million.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Wow.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's good stuff. It's good stuff.
- 18:13Speaker 6: Yes.
- 18:13Speaker 5: And what you do is, the trick is, you see,
- 18:15Speaker 5: what you do there is you do a painting that
- 18:17Speaker 5: sort of looks like it would sit in between a
- 18:20Speaker 5: couple of eras of the artist, right? So you go,
- 18:23Speaker 5: look at this one here. These are the colours he's using.
- 18:25Speaker 5: This is the sort of thing. And then look at
- 18:27Speaker 5: this one a couple of years later, and then you
- 18:28Speaker 5: try and make something up in between.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Clever.
- 18:30Speaker 5: And there's this fellow there who's an art dealer called Gant,
- 18:33Speaker 5: which is a great name. And he gets busted with
- 18:37Speaker 5: a whole bunch of fraudulent paintings over the years. that
- 18:42Speaker 5: he's got an art gallery and then somehow he just
- 18:45Speaker 5: ends up with having all these fraudulent ones that end
- 18:46Speaker 5: up going off to auction. So he's got a history
- 18:48Speaker 5: of doing it. But what they have to have is providence,
- 18:51Speaker 5: and providence is where you can prove where it came from.
- 18:54Speaker 5: So you have to be able to say, oh, well,
- 18:55Speaker 5: I met with this artist and I went around to
- 18:57Speaker 5: his house and I bought them off him directly and
- 19:00Speaker 5: signed this away. But you have to be able to
- 19:02Speaker 5: track them all for this very reason. But this guy,
- 19:05Speaker 5: his attitude is, and he hasn't been explicit about it,
- 19:10Speaker 5: is that art is an insanely overpriced load of bullshit.
- 19:15Speaker 5: And so if idiots are out there that want to
- 19:17Speaker 5: spend millions and millions of dollars on it, then why
- 19:19Speaker 5: not just do one that he's done himself or he's
- 19:22Speaker 5: got his mate to do it because it's just as
- 19:24Speaker 5: good in his mind as the real thing.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:27Speaker 4: And to be honest with you, I've got to admire
- 19:28Speaker 4: his thinking.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:30Speaker 5: He's had a lot of, I think he's had a
- 19:31Speaker 5: few wins there. I haven't got to the end of
- 19:32Speaker 5: this yet, but I am enjoying it. It's two episodes.
- 19:35Speaker 5: It could probably be one.
- 19:37Speaker 2: It's on Netflix.
- 19:37Speaker 4: It's on Netflix.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:39Speaker 5: But it's entertaining. Some real characters in there. The artist
- 19:43Speaker 5: himself died at about 35 years of age from, I think,
- 19:46Speaker 5: a heroin overdose. A tortured artist. but it's good eating.
- 19:51Speaker 5: We'll give it four buzzies out of a possible five.
- 19:54Speaker 5: I do think, you know, there's this guy, he buys
- 19:57Speaker 5: this piece of art, sight unseen, $ 4 million, one of
- 20:02Speaker 5: these pieces of art, $ 4 million, sees a photo of it.
- 20:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 5: Just thinks that he should have something decent in his collection.
- 20:09Speaker 5: He's got no right owning that.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Scumbag. You don't appreciate that. You've just got too much money.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Crazy stuff.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Give it a watch.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounds really good, man. And actually, it's quite phenomenal.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Throughout history, there's been some very, very clever artists that.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Can absolutely imitate. And you go, well, actually.
- 20:29Speaker 4: What's the difference?
- 20:30Speaker 2: What's the difference?
- 20:31Speaker 1: Really?
- 20:32Speaker 4: Because I've watched a few things on this. Like, for example,
- 20:34Speaker 4: Da Vinci's one that's been ripped off heaps, right? And
- 20:37Speaker 4: a recent one, within the last decade, a painting of,
- 20:40Speaker 4: I think it was Jesus. that was allegedly painted by
- 20:43Speaker 4: da vinci sold for millions it was the lost da
- 20:46Speaker 4: vinci yeah and then they like dated it and it
- 20:49Speaker 4: has a really sketchy trail but thing if it is
- 20:52Speaker 4: fraudulent which i guess it isn't because it hasn't been
- 20:54Speaker 4: proven to be fraudulent that the uh i can't remember
- 20:58Speaker 4: what the word is but the paints that they're using
- 21:00Speaker 4: and the shades of colors and things yeah are from
- 21:04Speaker 4: the right era and the canvas is from the right era.
- 21:07Speaker 2: That's right.
- 21:08Speaker 5: And that's one of the first things you have to
- 21:09Speaker 5: do is go out and buy the canvases from the
- 21:11Speaker 5: right era.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Exactly. Because it all gets carbon dated and all this
- 21:14Speaker 4: sort of stuff. It's absolutely gold. So how do you
- 21:16Speaker 4: get a blank canvas from like hundreds of years ago?
- 21:18Speaker 2: It's like crazy. Fantastic.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Look, I don't have much to report. I finished off
- 21:24Speaker 3: the drama under Saltmarsh.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Very good.
- 21:28Speaker 3: It's a very good, solid drama. Very moody. Very good performances.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I picked it.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I picked it, fellas. Yeah, you get it, man.
- 21:37Speaker 3: But other than that, look, I very much enjoyed it.
- 21:39Speaker 3: It was a good, solid watch. 3.5 buzzies on TVNZ Plus, Keezy.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Right, and Mogi, what was your one called again?
- 21:47Speaker 2: It was called something.
- 21:49Speaker 4: About the Whiteley Project.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Yes.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Whiteley Art Scandal, that makes sense. Whiteley Art Scandal, that's
- 21:55Speaker 4: on Netflix. There you go.
- 21:56Speaker 2: It's Nirvana.
- 22:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:03Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, welcome back, you massive bag bones.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Hope you're surviving this glorious Wednesday afternoon. You're listening to
- 22:13Speaker 3: The Big Show, by the way, brought to you by Reburger.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options available. Reburger are redefining
- 22:20Speaker 4: the norm.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Holy f * * * ing s * * *,
- 22:23Speaker 2: you gotta try this. That one tells a story. Yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 2: nice work, Pugs. Nice work. Very good. I enjoyed that.
- 22:35Speaker 4: I'm not sure if it's his best work or he's
- 22:37Speaker 4: just sort of given up. What is that?
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's interesting because, well, I mean, it's like this
- 22:43Speaker 3: for all human beings.
- 22:44Speaker 2: You know, you start a project off all enthusiasm and then,
- 22:48Speaker 2: you know, over time, you know, you... It's like any relationship. Yep, indeed.
- 22:53Speaker 4: I don't think every relationship. No, not every, but... You know.
- 22:57Speaker 3: And then you just, you know, you have to work
- 22:59Speaker 3: a little bit harder just to get the same sort
- 23:01Speaker 3: of joie de vivre.
- 23:02Speaker 5: The things that used to be what attracted you are
- 23:04Speaker 5: now the things that repulse you.
- 23:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 2: No, I mean, I don't think he's got to that
- 23:10Speaker 2: point yet, but, you know. Really? Teetering. Can I say teetering?
- 23:15Speaker 4: Yeah, totally. Rehberg is still good, though.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. You don't need to tell me that, Keezy.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Genuinely, last night in my house tomorrow night, Final night.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Last night at my house tomorrow night.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you. It's my last night.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Tomorrow night.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Going to be emotional.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I will be emotional, and we're going to get rebuked.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Will you do a hucker in the house? I'm not
- 23:37Speaker 4: going to do a hucker in my house. Just to
- 23:40Speaker 4: thank him for the good times. That's not what a
- 23:42Speaker 4: hucker's for. I suppose it is. Do you think you'll
- 23:44Speaker 4: probably make love? Oh, now that's a good point.
- 23:48Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 4: What do you mean, ooh?
- 23:56Speaker 2: What's wrong with that? It's all good, man. It's all good. Hey,
- 23:59Speaker 2: now listen.
- 24:01Speaker 4: What? A lot coming up.
- 24:02Speaker 2: It's all good. It's a massive amount coming up.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Well, how about you?
- 24:05Speaker 2: Did you do that?
- 24:06Speaker 4: You moved out of your house earlier this year.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Let me think.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Let me think. Just forget it.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Don't worry about it. Here's the white stripes. Good stuff.
- 24:20Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 24:24Speaker 3: The cult there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 24:27Speaker 3: Wednesday evening. The time is 5.13.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Fellas, I mentioned on the show yesterday that I had
- 24:33Speaker 4: a bit of a mission to accomplish today. Oh, yes.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Moving out of my house in West Auckland there, moving
- 24:39Speaker 4: into a granny flat in Devonport, which for those out
- 24:43Speaker 4: of Auckland is on the North Shore. So you have
- 24:45Speaker 4: to go over the Harbour Bridge. You then... Go off
- 24:47Speaker 4: the highway for about 15 minutes. Very beautiful part of
- 24:51Speaker 4: the country.
- 24:51Speaker 2: It's lovely. It is a pretty spot.
- 24:53Speaker 4: It is a pretty spot, and every day I'll be
- 24:56Speaker 4: ferrying into work, which is quite exciting.
- 24:58Speaker 2: How good?
- 24:59Speaker 4: One of the issues I faced, though, was I had
- 25:01Speaker 4: to get my 1971 Honda motorbike recently been put back
- 25:08Speaker 4: on the road for the first time in 30-plus years.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Still all original. All I've done is make it go
- 25:14Speaker 4: and make it work and make it get a warrant.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I had to ride that 35 minutes across town, including
- 25:21Speaker 4: on motorways and over the Harbour Bridge to park in
- 25:25Speaker 4: the garage at this granny flat.
- 25:27Speaker 6: Yes.
- 25:28Speaker 4: And I was terrified about it because I have not
- 25:30Speaker 4: done a lot of road testing on this bike because
- 25:32Speaker 4: I got it on the road in winter and you
- 25:34Speaker 4: don't want to be riding an old bike in the rain. Oh, God, no.
- 25:37Speaker 6: No.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Just riding bikes in the rain in general.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Well, it's already got enough rust. Jase?
- 25:43Speaker 4: You are not wrong. You are 100% not wrong. So
- 25:47Speaker 4: I set off at 1 p.m. today, or 10 to 1,
- 25:50Speaker 4: and my goal was to get there by 1.30, where
- 25:53Speaker 4: my mate was waiting there on the stairs with a
- 25:55Speaker 4: key to the garage.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Nice.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Half an hour Google Maps said it would take. I
- 26:00Speaker 4: gave myself an extra 10 minutes.
- 26:02Speaker 2: Nice.
- 26:03Speaker 4: I'm glad I did. I broke down on the Western Motorway,
- 26:08Speaker 4: was going along there, hooting along, and I was thinking,
- 26:11Speaker 4: I was like, maybe I should go off the motorway
- 26:12Speaker 4: and go through the 50K areas of the residential area
- 26:16Speaker 4: and then back on over the Harbour Bridge just in
- 26:17Speaker 4: case I break down. And I was like, you know what? Nah,
- 26:20Speaker 4: this is running sweet. So I went over a lane,
- 26:22Speaker 4: carried on. As soon as I carried on past the off-ramp,
- 26:24Speaker 4: it started to run a bit rough. And I was like, oh, God,
- 26:27Speaker 4: then it just died on me and I had to
- 26:29Speaker 4: pull over to the side of the road.
- 26:30Speaker 2: You never told us that, Keezy.
- 26:32Speaker 6: What?
- 26:34Speaker 4: And what was the issue? It was an electrical fault. Fortunately,
- 26:38Speaker 4: I managed to, I was like, oh no, because I
- 26:40Speaker 4: don't have my truck anymore. I've got rid of it,
- 26:42Speaker 4: which I'd usually use to rescue. And I'd call my
- 26:45Speaker 4: wife to come with my truck and pick me up.
- 26:48Speaker 4: So I started fiddling around with stuff on the side
- 26:50Speaker 4: of the road there, figured out what the issue was,
- 26:52Speaker 4: started it up again, hooned off. It was running mint,
- 26:55Speaker 4: and I was like, oh, yeah, maybe I can make it.
- 26:57Speaker 4: And then it started to do it again, and I
- 26:59Speaker 4: was like, crap. So I actually pulled off the motorway
- 27:01Speaker 4: and came down to work here, and I was like,
- 27:03Speaker 4: I might just have to put it in the car
- 27:04Speaker 4: park at work, worry about it at a later date.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Started fiddling with it, fixed it, better this time. It
- 27:09Speaker 4: was running mint, and I was like, stuff it. I'm
- 27:12Speaker 4: going to do this thing. And rode it over the
- 27:16Speaker 4: Harbour Bridge and to the destination. Well done. Got there
- 27:19Speaker 4: in one piece.
- 27:20Speaker 2: That's great stuff, Casey.
- 27:21Speaker 4: It was the most stressful ride of my life.
- 27:23Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 4: You should sell it. Yeah, I'm thinking about it.
- 27:26Speaker 2: It sucks.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Well, they do say, actually, that once a vehicle of whatever,
- 27:31Speaker 3: whether it be a motorbike or a car, once it
- 27:34Speaker 3: goes on you once or twice, you just kind of
- 27:36Speaker 3: lose confidence in it.
- 27:37Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 27:38Speaker 3: There's always that trepidation that you go, oh, hang on now.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Lack of trust.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Lack of trust, yes.
- 27:43Speaker 4: You can't have that. It's back paddock time there, Keezy. Well,
- 27:46Speaker 4: it's an old bike, right? It's part of the fun.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Is that the fun part, though? Yeah.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Breaking down on the road all the time.
- 27:52Speaker 5: Do you want to have something that you're immediately scared
- 27:54Speaker 5: that you're not going to make it somewhere? Because it's
- 27:56Speaker 5: one thing to be scared that you're not going to
- 27:59Speaker 5: make it somewhere because you're worried about the state of
- 28:01Speaker 5: the vehicle you've got. And then it's something else altogether
- 28:04Speaker 5: to be 100% correct every single time because it always
- 28:08Speaker 5: breaks down.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Well, that's why your wife rang me in tears the
- 28:11Speaker 3: night before because she was just like, A, she wasn't
- 28:15Speaker 3: confident about your riding skills, but also she said, you know,
- 28:20Speaker 3: Pointy J, it's just an absolute shit of this bike.
- 28:23Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, I know, I know. I'll
- 28:25Speaker 2: have a word with him. Well, you didn't.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Because I did it and it made it. Honestly, it
- 28:30Speaker 4: was so stressful. But what I found was once I
- 28:33Speaker 4: made it over the crest of the harbour bridge, because
- 28:37Speaker 4: what I was worried about was trying to get up
- 28:39Speaker 4: to the top. The peak of the bridge. Once I
- 28:42Speaker 4: was starting to come down again, I was able to
- 28:44Speaker 4: sigh and then look out at the beautiful view and go,
- 28:46Speaker 4: isn't this nice? And it ran mint the whole way.
- 28:49Speaker 4: And to be honest, I figured out the issue was
- 28:51Speaker 4: actually something that I had caused myself. Yeah, that sounds right.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd be right.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Did you have petrol in it? Do you know what's funny?
- 28:59Speaker 4: Because it doesn't have a fuel gauge. It's old. Just
- 29:01Speaker 4: opened the flap and had a look in. I was like,
- 29:03Speaker 4: there's heaps of fuel in there. Closed it. As I
- 29:05Speaker 4: was starting to go up over the harbour bridge, it
- 29:08Speaker 4: started to miss a bit. And I was like, oh.
- 29:10Speaker 4: And I was like, hang on. And then you've got
- 29:12Speaker 4: this tap on the side that you turn where it's
- 29:14Speaker 4: called reserve. Yeah. And it basically lets. Yes. Yeah. It's
- 29:18Speaker 4: an old style motorbike. Yeah. Put it on the reserve.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Stopped doing it straight away. I was like, oh, my God.
- 29:22Speaker 4: I almost ran out of gas. So three times pretty much.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Oh, good stuff.
- 29:28Speaker 4: Stressful.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Back panic, man.
- 29:29Speaker 6: 100%.
- 29:29Speaker 4: If anyone wants to buy it, 3483. I recommend you don't. Yeah. Don't.
- 29:38Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 29:42Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki. Let's see who's
- 29:49Speaker 1: winning an ITM Toolbox trade-off from The Big Show on
- 29:52Speaker 1: Radio Hodaki.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yes, indeed.
- 29:55Speaker 3: It's a competition that's taking the world by storm, fellas.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Old ITM have really come to the party, haven't they?
- 30:02Speaker 4: Certainly have, Jase. It's to celebrate ITM's Toolbox top-up sale,
- 30:06Speaker 4: which is on right now. Goes right through to the
- 30:08Speaker 4: end of November there. Big sales on huge brands across
- 30:12Speaker 4: the board.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Go and top up your toolbox.
- 30:16Speaker 5: You know, I've got to get a toolbox. I had
- 30:19Speaker 5: one at work, but the wife wanted it back, so
- 30:22Speaker 5: I've had to give.
- 30:22Speaker 2: It back to her.
- 30:23Speaker 4: It's actually her toolbox. How big was it? Just the
- 30:26Speaker 4: right size. A handyman size, you know what I'm saying?
- 30:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Single handler, but yeah, it had all the goodies in there.
- 30:34Speaker 6: Yes.
- 30:35Speaker 4: I do need to get into ITM and start again, sadly.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Actually, I probably need to. upgrade a few of my
- 30:41Speaker 2: tools as well.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Do you have a toolbox in the apartment?
- 30:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's massive. Is it? Takes up an entire shelf, Keezy.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Yeah, sure it does. Wow.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Because I was a bit of a tinkerer in my time,
- 30:51Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 30:52Speaker 4: A tinkler?
- 30:53Speaker 2: No, a tinkerer.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Ah, okay.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Liked to tinkle with things.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Bit of a fiddler.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Bit of a fiddler, yeah. Hey, let's go to the
- 30:59Speaker 3: phone lines. G'day, Luke, you mad bastard.
- 31:01Speaker 2: How's life?
- 31:02Speaker 1: Hey.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Bloody brilliant fellas, how are we?
- 31:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good. Tell me, Luke, what do
- 31:07Speaker 2: you do for a crust? I'm a builder. Backbone.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Just standy old backbone shit.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it's good stuff, Luke. How's business? Yeah, it's good.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Yeah, busy as.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Do you work for.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Yourself, man, or do you work for some other bastard?
- 31:23Speaker 2: No, I work for some other bastard. Yeah, good.
- 31:26Speaker 4: What's their name?
- 31:28Speaker 2: Hayden.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Hayden.
- 31:30Speaker 5: You sort of drag your ass around the site there
- 31:32Speaker 5: and not sort of put on your full hundy every day?
- 31:35Speaker 3: Well, I hope Hayden's not listening because, yeah.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you, man. Yeah, nice.
- 31:40Speaker 3: So tell me, Luke, what tool are you looking to
- 31:44Speaker 3: trade with us?
- 31:46Speaker 2: My skill saw. Oh, skill saw. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Okay, so how long have you had the skill saw, Luke?
- 31:55Speaker 4: About four years.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Wow. Okay, would you use it daily?
- 31:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I've dropped it off many a roof, and it
- 32:01Speaker 4: can't cut straight, but I'm not sure if that's a
- 32:03Speaker 4: skill source fault. Yeah, right.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear you.
- 32:06Speaker 4: A skill source, skill source, skill source.
- 32:10Speaker 2: You know what?
- 32:11Speaker 4: I'll trade you that skill source, Luke, but I'm going
- 32:13Speaker 4: to trade it for a DeWalt 12-volt cordless 360 green
- 32:18Speaker 4: beam laser line level kit with $ 714 plus.
- 32:20Speaker 6: GST, all right?
- 32:23Speaker 2: Oh, get in.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Yeah. How good, son.
- 32:27Speaker 4: It includes a green beam laser level plus a bonus
- 32:29Speaker 4: mini tripod and laser distance measurer via redemption.
- 32:33Speaker 6: So good.
- 32:35Speaker 4: That is bloody good, mate. I don't know what any
- 32:37Speaker 4: of that means.
- 32:38Speaker 5: Can I ask you there, Luke, is it the worst
- 32:41Speaker 5: thing in the world when you're a tradie and you
- 32:42Speaker 5: have to go out and spend your hard-earned money on
- 32:44Speaker 5: goddamn tools?
- 32:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:47Speaker 2: We get a bit of an allowance, though.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's true. But you don't want that to go
- 32:52Speaker 4: on tools.
- 32:53Speaker 2: No, you don't. Yeah, yeah, yeah. V's. And pies. And pies.
- 32:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 2: All that good stuff.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Hey, good on you, Luke. So that prize is all yours, mate.
- 33:04Speaker 4: And you're also in the draw to win $ 500 cash.
- 33:06Speaker 4: We're going to be calling one of the winners this
- 33:09Speaker 4: week on Friday, all right? So leave your phone on. Cheers, fellas.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Good on you, mate. Enjoy, enjoy. Hey, good stuff, fellas.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Do you reckon he'll be the coolest guy at the
- 33:19Speaker 4: building site? I think so, yeah.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 33:20Speaker 4: With that new laser level system. Strap him around like
- 33:23Speaker 4: a peacock. I think he'll probably get wedgied.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Oh, yeah?
- 33:26Speaker 5: He's going to get bullied for having a real fancy
- 33:30Speaker 5: level laser sort of a setup.
- 33:32Speaker 4: It's like, oh, all the gear, no idea. That's right.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Because what's that last little bit it says there? A
- 33:38Speaker 4: green beam laser level plus bonus mini tripod and laser
- 33:41Speaker 4: distance measurer via redemption. She's pretty flash.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yeah, very flash.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Have you ever measured something via redemption?
- 33:49Speaker 2: Not that I'm aware of. Hey, coming up next, black caps.

- 35:26Speaker 2: No, that's okay, man.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Your big sausage fingers sort of stumbling their way around.
- 35:31Speaker 4: Is that a new thing now? Is it that I've
- 35:32Speaker 4: got sausage fingers? To go with my meat patty nibs.
- 35:35Speaker 2: He's a one-man walking barbecue.
- 35:39Speaker 4: They call him the Weber.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Sausage fingers. What's for dinner at your place tonight, Mogi?
- 35:43Speaker 2: Have you any idea?
- 35:45Speaker 4: No, no idea.
- 35:46Speaker 5: But last night I had a dahl, and you would
- 35:48Speaker 5: have seen me today. I was eating a little something,
- 35:49Speaker 5: and I had more of the dahl today. My wife
- 35:52Speaker 5: made it last night.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Yeah, dahl. Did you go, thanks, dahl? Cheers, my love.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Damn, I missed an opportunity there, didn't I? Yeah, you did.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 5: But it was delicious. It was really, really good. Tonight
- 36:02Speaker 5: I would like something else.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm hearing you. I don't know about you,
- 36:07Speaker 2: I'm starving.
- 36:08Speaker 4: I'm starving. I'm absolutely starving and I've got to walk home.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Yes, same.
- 36:12Speaker 4: And it looks like it's getting cold out there and
- 36:14Speaker 4: I'm not happy about that.
- 36:14Speaker 6: No.
- 36:14Speaker 4: And I haven't got a jersey. Oh. Poor Mogi.
- 36:18Speaker 2: What's on at the Kesey household?
- 36:20Speaker 4: Well, last night, fellas, you'll remember I was having stuffed capsicum. Oh, God.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yes, how was that, Travis?
- 36:25Speaker 4: Absolute abomination. Look, to be fair, it was way yummier
- 36:29Speaker 4: than I was anticipating. Still not, like, setting the world
- 36:31Speaker 4: on fire.
- 36:32Speaker 2: No.
- 36:32Speaker 4: And the great news is my wife made heaps of it,
- 36:35Speaker 4: so we're having it again tonight.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Oh, yum. Like squirt. Chili sauce and stuff all over it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:47Speaker 4: A little bit of sour cream and some sriracha. And
- 36:52Speaker 4: she did grill some nice cheese on top of them
- 36:55Speaker 4: as well.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 36:56Speaker 4: It was like eating a Mexican dish, you know, with
- 36:58Speaker 4: some rice on the side and some other salads. But
- 37:01Speaker 4: way better. So what are you having, Jase?
- 37:05Speaker 2: Dunno, actually.
- 37:07Speaker 3: My wife and I were undecided as of my leaving today.
- 37:11Speaker 3: So she's going to go to the supermarket.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Makes me anxious. Makes me anxious, fellas.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Maybe you'll get another one of those tiny pies.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Yeah, tiny.
- 37:21Speaker 3: A one-person fish pie while she buys three different meals
- 37:25Speaker 3: for my daughter who's elsewhere.
- 37:27Speaker 4: Far out. You really don't like your wife, do you?
- 37:29Speaker 5: No, it's more that he doesn't like his daughter, their offspring,
- 37:33Speaker 5: being prioritised over him.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Thank you, Maggie.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Isn't that what happens, though?
- 37:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:37Speaker 2: And it shouldn't.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yes.
- 37:39Speaker 2: For 2020.
- 37:40Speaker 4: 30.
- 37:42Speaker 2: 30 years, Keezy.
- 37:45Speaker 4: Since I was nine, it's been happening.
- 37:47Speaker 3: 30 years.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Since you were nine.

- 39:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 4: All right, guys. G'day there, fellas. Daryl here, pretty keen
- 39:11Speaker 4: to head along this Saturday. It's just opened up.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Daryl Halligan.
- 39:15Speaker 4: After a mate cancelled his flight to Auckland.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Oh, how about that? All right. Well, that's perfect. Does
- 39:20Speaker 2: Daryl say who he might bring with him? Because we
- 39:22Speaker 2: ask people to sort of tell us.
- 39:24Speaker 4: We're quite clear about that. He just said I'd take
- 39:25Speaker 4: my wife.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Oh, his wife. Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 6: Nice.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Well, you know, there's something very... romantic about going to
- 39:31Speaker 2: gigs with your wife, isn't there?
- 39:33Speaker 4: Is there with free tickets?
- 39:35Speaker 2: Oh, that's still romantic.
- 39:36Speaker 3: You don't say they're free.
- 39:38Speaker 2: You say, I bought some tickets and I thought we
- 39:40Speaker 2: could go to this gig. Yeah, you lie to her.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Now you're lying. Totally you do.
- 39:43Speaker 4: Yeah, through your teeth. That's what she gets. That's what
- 39:45Speaker 4: she gets. Couldn't you say, hey, babe, you know how
- 39:47Speaker 4: Daryl was supposed to be coming? Oh, no, I think
- 39:49Speaker 4: he's Daryl. No, he's Daryl. You know how my mate
- 39:51Speaker 4: was supposed to be coming? He's no longer coming.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Oh, Pete. Pistol.
- 39:56Speaker 4: Pistol Pete was supposed to be coming. Now he's not.
- 39:58Speaker 4: That sucks, but I've managed to get us tickets to
- 40:00Speaker 4: this gig on set. Remind me what happened to his flights?
- 40:03Speaker 4: He just said he pulled out. Oh, okay. Oh, Pete, man.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Good stuff.
- 40:09Speaker 4: So, yeah. Okay. There's nothing more romantic than you and
- 40:12Speaker 4: your missus listening to Bag Raiders together.
- 40:16Speaker 2: It's pretty romantic.
- 40:17Speaker 4: You're right there, Keyes. You've got to take it back.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Hook up while Bag Raiders is on.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 40:22Speaker 6: All right.
- 40:22Speaker 4: G'day, guys. Would love to attend the music festival. I'd
- 40:25Speaker 4: bring my mate PJ because he doesn't get out much.
- 40:27Speaker 5: Lol.
- 40:28Speaker 6: Lol. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 4: I wonder if that's Peter Jackson.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe.
- 40:32Speaker 4: He doesn't get out much.
- 40:33Speaker 2: He's a bit of an introvert, isn't he, old PJ?
- 40:35Speaker 5: Yeah, he's watching his movies and making his movies as well.
- 40:39Speaker 4: So it might be Peter Jackson going to see Bag Raiders.
- 40:42Speaker 4: You think someone's texting saying they'd like to bring their
- 40:45Speaker 4: mate Sir Peter Jackson?
- 40:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Sorry, I always forget this, sir.
- 40:48Speaker 5: Yes.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. To Centre Court Sounds there.
- 40:51Speaker 2: And he loves a freebie too.
- 40:52Speaker 4: Peter Jackson?
- 40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:56Speaker 4: Okay, well, who are we going to give it to?
- 40:57Speaker 4: I've picked those two. Out of those two. Do you
- 40:59Speaker 4: want Daryl taking his wife there, or do you want
- 41:02Speaker 4: this guy taking Sir Peter Jackson?
- 41:03Speaker 5: I feel like Sir Peter could get his own tickets.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
- 41:09Speaker 4: I agree. So maybe we give it to Daryl. The
- 41:11Speaker 4: first person, Daryl. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:14Speaker 6: Okay.
- 41:14Speaker 2: We'll look around.
- 41:15Speaker 4: We might have two doubles, actually. We might be able
- 41:16Speaker 4: to give one to both of them.
- 41:17Speaker 2: Yeah, nice, nice.
- 41:18Speaker 4: Don't forget, if you would like to go along, see
- 41:20Speaker 4: Shapeys and Bag Raiders this Saturday at Manuka Doctor Arena

- 41:53Speaker 2: Go, you mad bastards. That's a big show done and
- 41:55Speaker 2: dusted for you Wednesday night. Hope you enjoyed it.
- 41:57Speaker 3: The disclaimer podcast today, which is bonus material. We record, actually,
- 42:05Speaker 3: before the actual live radio show. What clip have you
- 42:07Speaker 3: got for us today, Keezy?
- 42:09Speaker 4: And we were cutting it fine, too.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Yeah, we were today.
- 42:10Speaker 4: It was a bit of a rush show, wasn't it?
- 42:12Speaker 4: We were 30 seconds out from the show going away,
- 42:14Speaker 4: but we still got it all done, fellas. Today, we
- 42:17Speaker 4: spent a brief moment in time trying to fix Hoity
- 42:20Speaker 4: J's Apple Plus subscription. Here's a little clip of that.
- 42:24Speaker 4: It comes out at 7.30 tonight. Have you put your
- 42:27Speaker 4: email address and then hit forgot password?
- 42:29Speaker 3: No.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Well, then that'll be that. Yeah, I think I could
- 42:32Speaker 4: fix it in under 10 minutes.
- 42:34Speaker 2: I'm exhausted.
- 42:38Speaker 4: You could be watching Slow Horses.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I was having such a good afternoon and you've just... Jason's.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Got an Apple TV subscription that he's getting billed for
- 42:51Speaker 4: but can't log in. Old Apple is doing them.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. Well, it's actually Prime, to be accurate. Oh,
- 42:57Speaker 2: that's right. I don't like that. But Apple is part
- 43:01Speaker 2: of it. But anyway, I don't want to go into it.
- 43:05Speaker 6: Sorry.
- 43:06Speaker 4: So two streaming services are billing you.
- 43:09Speaker 3: No, it just comes through as Prime, but with my
- 43:13Speaker 3: Prime subscription, I can get Apple TV.
- 43:16Speaker 4: But you must be paying extra for Apple TV.
- 43:18Speaker 6: Yes.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Yeah, probably.
- 43:19Speaker 4: So you are getting billed by two subscription services and
- 43:21Speaker 4: you can't access either of them.
- 43:23Speaker 5: No.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Can you not get into Prime either?
- 43:25Speaker 3: No, this is what I'm talking about.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Shit. Anyway. Moby, your plans for the night, please.
- 43:35Speaker 4: I'm walking home in what looks like cold.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's suddenly got a bit... I don't know.
- 43:40Speaker 5: And it might be balmy out there, but it just
- 43:42Speaker 5: doesn't look it. It's got to look about it. Then
- 43:44Speaker 5: I'll go home. I'm reading a book to the daughter
- 43:48Speaker 5: at the moment, which I'll get into on the show,
- 43:50Speaker 5: The Little Prince.
- 43:51Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 43:51Speaker 2: It's a good book. Oscar Wilde?
- 43:53Speaker 4: No, no, no. It's some French bugger there.
- 43:56Speaker 5: Right.
- 43:57Speaker 4: You know, he lives on the tiny planet.
- 43:59Speaker 6: Oh, yes.
- 43:59Speaker 5: It's very, very small. He saw the sunset 43 times
- 44:03Speaker 5: in one day. He just moves his chair around. He
- 44:05Speaker 5: can just watch it.
- 44:05Speaker 4: Again and again.
- 44:06Speaker 2: It's a good book.
- 44:07Speaker 4: Yeah. I'm getting more out of it than my daughter.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Yes.
- 44:10Speaker 4: Actually, but yeah, bloody good. So a bit of that
- 44:12Speaker 4: and then a bit of TV or something. I don't know.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Easy, you mad dog.
- 44:15Speaker 4: What do you say? My wife and I are going
- 44:17Speaker 4: to have leftover stuffed capsicum and then we're going to
- 44:20Speaker 4: probably have a trip to the storage unit and just
- 44:24Speaker 4: drop off some more stuff, clear out our house a
- 44:25Speaker 4: bit more. Have you ever made love in a storage unit?
- 44:28Speaker 2: No.
- 44:28Speaker 4: You simply must. Okay, I will. Hey, Jase, what are
- 44:33Speaker 4: you up to, man?
- 44:34Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's... Not watching Amazon.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Not watching Apple TV.
- 44:40Speaker 2: I'm going to go home. Actually, I said this the
- 44:42Speaker 2: other night.
- 44:43Speaker 3: True story. I said, let's sort this bloody thing out.
- 44:46Speaker 3: What the hell's going on? I can't believe you haven't
- 44:50Speaker 3: tried typing in.
- 44:50Speaker 2: 20 minutes later, we were effing and jeffing and frustrated.
- 44:54Speaker 4: You haven't tried putting your email address in and then clicking,
- 44:57Speaker 4: I forgot my password.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Messaging our daughters.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Oh, it's just an absolute debacle.
- 45:05Speaker 3: But then I think, you know, but there's plenty of
- 45:07Speaker 3: other things I could watch if I wanted to. I mean,
- 45:09Speaker 3: it's not like, you know, I'm sort of starved for
- 45:11Speaker 3: choice or like that.
- 45:12Speaker 4: See you tomorrow. Bye.
