- 0:19Speaker 1: to Remember, which originally premiered on the Hallmark channel on Saturday,
- 0:22Speaker 1: October 3rd, 2026, and is now streaming on Hallmark +.

- 1:05Speaker 1: Phone wallpapers that just dropped over there. We have fall.
- 1:09Speaker 1: We have Christmas. I'm looking at Megan. I have no
- 1:12Speaker 1: idea what she's talking about. She's just been working away. Well,
- 1:15Speaker 1: it's not live yet, but when this episode comes out,
- 1:17Speaker 1: they'll be live. Very cute. Take a look at those.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We have a printable count on a Christmas schedule. And
- 1:23Speaker 1: the last thing here I want to do is sign

- 1:32Speaker 1: To get weekly emails from us about what's new on
- 1:34Speaker 1: the podcast and in the world of Hallmark. Wow. Um,
- 1:40Speaker 1: I have a, I have a, maybe a hot take. Okay. I'm,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'm curious where you're at. I think I have fall fatigue. Really?
- 1:50Speaker 1: I think six weeks is too long for this fall slate.
- 1:53Speaker 1: This movie's hardly fall. I know. And I'm going to
- 1:56Speaker 1: talk about it. Okay. I, I think I've gotten to
- 1:59Speaker 1: that part of the season. I'm like, all right, let's just,
- 2:01Speaker 1: let's just get into countdown to Christmas. Wow. But then
- 2:05Speaker 1: that means you're going to be so over Christmas by Thanksgiving.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I know I will. Yeah. I mean, I am who
- 2:10Speaker 1: I am, but I, yeah, I think I have fall fatigue. Wow.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But let's talk about a night to remember. Cause I have,
- 2:20Speaker 1: I have quite a few things to say. Well, let's
- 2:24Speaker 1: start with the synopsis. A statue of an English knight
- 2:28Speaker 1: arrives in Chicago for an art exhibit. While cleaning the statue,
- 2:33Speaker 1: museum conservator Emily impulsively kisses the statue, bringing him to life.
- 2:40Speaker 1: A Knight to Remember was directed by Kevin Fair. This
- 2:42Speaker 1: movie marks his 55th directing credit, and he is best
- 2:45Speaker 1: known for directing many of the signed, sealed, delivered movies,
- 2:48Speaker 1: as well as Caught by Love and The Love Heist,
- 2:50Speaker 1: both from earlier this year. You remember Caught by Love?
- 2:53Speaker 1: That was earlier this year. Is Caught by Love the Rachel,
- 2:57Speaker 1: Luke McFarlane, Rachel Lee Cook movie? Yep. Wow. Yeah. It's
- 3:02Speaker 1: been a long year. It's been a long year. The
- 3:05Speaker 1: screenplay was written by Michelle Ricci, who adapted the story
- 3:09Speaker 1: from the novel Her Night at the Museum by Bryn Donovan.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Michelle's previous work includes several episodes of Mistletoe Murders, Curious Caterer,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and the Haley Dean mystery franchise. Julie Gonzalo stars as Emily.
- 3:22Speaker 1: This is Julie's 52nd acting credit, and we last saw
- 3:25Speaker 1: her in the 2025 movie Her Argentine Heart. New-ish newcomer
- 3:30Speaker 1: James Trevina stars as Griffin. He previously appeared as one
- 3:34Speaker 1: of the pilots in the Lacey Chabert-Ian Harding movie Lost
- 3:38Speaker 1: in Paradise, also earlier this year. He will appear in
- 3:42Speaker 1: the forthcoming A Grand Biltmore Christmas. Britt Irvin plays friend
- 3:46Speaker 1: slash co-worker Ivy. Britt has appeared in a few Hallmark projects,
- 3:49Speaker 1: including Garage Sale Mystery, Aurora Teagarden, and 22 episodes of
- 3:53Speaker 1: Chesapeake Shores as Danielle. William C. Vaughn plays Emily's ex-husband
- 3:58Speaker 1: and FBI agent Tom. He might not be a household name,
- 4:01Speaker 1: but he has appeared in a ton of Hallmark movies
- 4:03Speaker 1: like The Love Heist, All's Fair in Love and Mahjong,
- 4:06Speaker 1: and Three Bed, Two Bath, One Ghost. So much crossover there. Yeah, totally.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Maddie Finocchio appears as museum boss Jason. We last saw
- 4:14Speaker 1: Maddie in the miniseries Providence Falls where he played Chief
- 4:17Speaker 1: Boyd Thompson. Chris McNally has a cameo appearance as Fred
- 4:21Speaker 1: the Archer. I did not realize that was his name.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Chris starred in Love Finds You earlier in the fall
- 4:28Speaker 1: into love season. And this will likely be the last
- 4:30Speaker 1: time we see him this year until When Calls the
- 4:33Speaker 1: Heart returns in 2027 because he is not in a
- 4:36Speaker 1: Christmas movie. Boo. Boo. Before we move on, I think
- 4:42Speaker 1: we should mention that Girls Gone Hallmark read the book
- 4:46Speaker 1: that this movie is based on. Yes. And the book
- 4:48Speaker 1: and the movie Worlds Apart. Worlds Apart. Yes. Yes. Worlds apart.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Were you disappointed? No. Did you like the book or
- 4:57Speaker 1: the movie better? Or you can't even compare the two
- 4:59Speaker 1: because they were so different. I like the movie better. Really?
- 5:02Speaker 1: You like the book better? I didn't like either. Okay.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I like the movie. Okay. Do you want my first impression?
- 5:10Speaker 1: Indeed I do. Apparently I'm just a girl standing outside
- 5:14Speaker 1: a Renaissance fair saying, you guys go have fun. I'll
- 5:16Speaker 1: meet you for dinner. Renaissance fair, not my idea of
- 5:25Speaker 1: a good time. Bridge too far. Too far, too far. Yeah,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'm no fun. You want me to put on a costume?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Absolutely not. Absolutely not. Last time my husband goes, hey,
- 5:34Speaker 1: you want to be Bert and Ernie for Halloween? And
- 5:35Speaker 1: I was like, oh. No, you're not going to be
- 5:39Speaker 1: Bert and Ernie for Halloween. I mean, of all the costumes,
- 5:42Speaker 1: it's just a shirt. No. Why? Why are you dressing
- 5:46Speaker 1: up for Halloween? Well, that's what I said. Why are
- 5:47Speaker 1: we dressing up for Halloween? Like, we don't do anything.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I'm not even giving out candy this year. I know.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Wendy's such a hater. She's turning off the lights and
- 5:54Speaker 1: going home. No, I'll put it. Going out. I think
- 5:57Speaker 1: I'm going to. I might leave a bowl of candy out. Yeah,
- 5:59Speaker 1: that'll be gone by the third. I don't care. But still. Anyway,
- 6:03Speaker 1: my first impression is I'm pretty sure encore presentations of
- 6:06Speaker 1: this movie need a shirtless or partially clothed counter on
- 6:10Speaker 1: screen pop up video style. Oh, that would be so fun.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I don't think there was enough shirtless to save this one. Sorry.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I think. You know what? You're going to see my
- 6:22Speaker 1: rating at the end and you're going to be like, Wendy,
- 6:23Speaker 1: why are you dogging so hard? Because my rating is
- 6:25Speaker 1: not bad. Well, let's talk what we liked. Okay. I
- 6:28Speaker 1: like Julie Gonzalo. Julie Gonzalo, in my opinion, deserves a medal.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Go ahead. Tell the listeners why. Because she was very
- 6:39Speaker 1: newly postpartum on this movie. Let me tell you the
- 6:42Speaker 1: odds of me filming a movie four, six, eight weeks
- 6:46Speaker 1: after having a baby. I was There's absolutely no way.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I'm surprised why she took the job. Well, I'm sure
- 6:53Speaker 1: she likes to work. Fair. That's fair. But also, I'd
- 6:58Speaker 1: be like, my body is still in healing from... She
- 7:02Speaker 1: had to run at one point. I know. And I
- 7:04Speaker 1: was like, absolutely not. I had... Remember in Jingle Bell
- 7:08Speaker 1: Run when Ashley Williams rings the bell and your response
- 7:11Speaker 1: was like, Women can do anything. It still makes me
- 7:15Speaker 1: like choke up when I think about that scene. I
- 7:17Speaker 1: got to watch that movie. When Julie Gonzalo ran, I'm like,
- 7:20Speaker 1: women are incredible. Yeah. We're freaking superheroes. Totally. I just
- 7:24Speaker 1: thought I was barely leaving the house. I know. Full
- 7:28Speaker 1: hair and makeup and acting and falling in love with statues.
- 7:33Speaker 1: And long days on set, I'm sure, with... I think
- 7:37Speaker 1: her and Chris have two children. Yes, so they're newborn
- 7:41Speaker 1: and they're older daughter. And, I mean, hats off to
- 7:44Speaker 1: Julie Gonzalo. I agree. Now, I like her a lot,
- 7:50Speaker 1: but this is going to sound like a wish. I
- 7:52Speaker 1: do think some projects she takes on are very run-of-the-hallmark mill, mill, mill,
- 7:59Speaker 1: not meal, mill, except three beds. Two Bath, One Ghost. Like,
- 8:04Speaker 1: that was such a unique movie. Yeah. But then I
- 8:07Speaker 1: think of, like, last year's movie where she's, like, in
- 8:10Speaker 1: Argentina and, like, it's a farm or whatever. Yeah, I
- 8:12Speaker 1: didn't love that movie. Like, farm, I don't know, horse ranch.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I can't remember the details. But, you know, it was
- 8:17Speaker 1: like summer hit or miss. And I think she's great.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You know, I think she's great, too. And I actually
- 8:24Speaker 1: enjoyed this movie for her. But, like, I'm thinking she's
- 8:28Speaker 1: like a Lindsay Fonseca for me. Like, could she have
- 8:32Speaker 1: been in The Love Heist? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You know,
- 8:35Speaker 1: I'd like to see her in this. I was going
- 8:39Speaker 1: to say I'd like to see her in something that's
- 8:40Speaker 1: more fun. Mm hmm. And I think this movie had
- 8:44Speaker 1: the chance to be fun. Mm hmm. I don't think
- 8:47Speaker 1: it is there. I don't think it gets there. Yeah. Agree.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But like I'd like to see her in like a
- 8:52Speaker 1: little bit more of like a fast talking comedic role.
- 8:56Speaker 1: You know she's in one of my least favorite movies
- 8:57Speaker 1: of all times, right? What is that movie? Christmas with
- 9:00Speaker 1: the Cranks. Oh, that's funny. We did talk about that.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's not a Julie Gonzalo. I just, that was like
- 9:06Speaker 1: when I decided I hated Christmas movies because I hated,
- 9:08Speaker 1: it was, it's all hijinx-y. I just can't stand it.
- 9:12Speaker 1: We talked about that in a review that we just re-aired.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Is Julie Gonzalo in Moonlight in Vermont or Vermont in
- 9:19Speaker 1: the Fall or Falling for Vermont with Benjamin Ayers? Yes.
- 9:23Speaker 1: That's a great Julie Gonzalo movie, actually. It's a great
- 9:25Speaker 1: Julie Gonzalo movie. Yep. But she's done like big movies,
- 9:28Speaker 1: like big outside of Hallmark, has had like a career
- 9:32Speaker 1: for many, many years. Yeah. A Cinderella story. A Cinderella story.
- 9:36Speaker 1: That's one of my favorite movies. I've never Hilary Duff.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It's great. What's her name is in it? You know,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I liked a novel, Noelle. Is Brendan Penny in that?
- 9:48Speaker 1: He is. They were cute in that. From a couple
- 9:50Speaker 1: years ago. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You know what would be awesome?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Flip that freaking romance. Yes. Great one. With Tyler Hines.
- 9:57Speaker 1: What would be awesome? I would love. some sort of
- 10:01Speaker 1: franchise with Julie and Chris as the leads. With Julie
- 10:05Speaker 1: and Chris. I think I like it. I think I
- 10:09Speaker 1: like it. What about them as like a divorced couple
- 10:13Speaker 1: who has to... Must love dogs. She was in Must
- 10:17Speaker 1: Love Dogs. I don't remember that movie. But what about
- 10:20Speaker 1: them as a divorced couple? I like it. Because that
- 10:22Speaker 1: could be fun for them to play with because they're
- 10:24Speaker 1: a real life couple. You know what I mean? Oh,
- 10:28Speaker 1: you're talking about her husband. Yeah. What Chris am I
- 10:30Speaker 1: talking about? Usually when you say Chris, you're talking about Palaha. No, no, no, no.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Best friend, Chris Paloha. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. When you're talking
- 10:41Speaker 1: about Chris, you're usually talking about Paloha. It's the truth.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Too much. It's the truth. You have to make it
- 10:48Speaker 1: real of that. But couldn't you see her and her
- 10:54Speaker 1: real life partner, Chris McNally in some sort of like,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I would love, I would love that. I mean, they
- 11:00Speaker 1: did make a movie together, but let's, let's do a franchise.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Let's do it. Yeah. I like it. Mystery. As long
- 11:07Speaker 1: as Chris has long hair. Oh my God. I love
- 11:11Speaker 1: Chris McNally with long hair. I loved it in this. Oh,
- 11:14Speaker 1: so did I. In between stage here. So did I. Okay,
- 11:17Speaker 1: let's move on. I can absolutely see the audience for
- 11:21Speaker 1: this movie. I'm going to confidently say that this movie
- 11:25Speaker 1: wasn't for me, but I also didn't think it was terrible.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I just didn't love it. But I know there is
- 11:32Speaker 1: a hallmark viewer out there who loves this movie because
- 11:36Speaker 1: it's pure escapism. You got knights, fairy tales, this sort
- 11:39Speaker 1: of like romantic declarations. Magical realism. Yeah, all that stuff.
- 11:46Speaker 1: my lady, you know, when some people really beat that
- 11:50Speaker 1: stuff up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, speaking of the my
- 11:52Speaker 1: lady of it all, James Trevena had the opportunity to
- 11:54Speaker 1: come off so cheesy. Like, as mentioned, we read the book.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I did the audio. I was not a fan of
- 12:00Speaker 1: the audio of the book. I'm a human. That's what
- 12:05Speaker 1: I remember. I tapped out. I tapped out. I don't
- 12:08Speaker 1: always love when an audiobook narrator tries to change their voice. Like,
- 12:13Speaker 1: in this case, it's a female narrator who's trying to
- 12:15Speaker 1: do the male voice. And it took me out of
- 12:17Speaker 1: it every time in this case. And that night, the
- 12:21Speaker 1: book night of the audiobook, is real cheesy. Real. It's
- 12:26Speaker 1: a whole thing. I did not find James Trevena cheesy
- 12:29Speaker 1: at all. Now, perhaps it's the fact that he looks
- 12:31Speaker 1: like James Trevena. It helps. It helps, definitely. When he's
- 12:35Speaker 1: saying those things. But look, he sold it to me
- 12:38Speaker 1: that he was this knight from another time making his
- 12:42Speaker 1: way in the new world. Hmm. I'm going to get
- 12:45Speaker 1: there in my wishes. I have some thoughts about that. Okay.
- 12:50Speaker 1: The knight in 2026 of it all. Well, in our
- 12:54Speaker 1: first impression, I said that this was giving me Encino
- 12:56Speaker 1: Man vibes because... Did you? I did. Because... In the sense...
- 13:02Speaker 1: What was your first impression again? Not in our first
- 13:05Speaker 1: impression episode. Oh, okay. Because you have this like fish
- 13:10Speaker 1: out of water person from another time situation. And I
- 13:14Speaker 1: think it delivered on that. He is very much like
- 13:17Speaker 1: a fish out of water with lines like, oh, indoor rain.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And what is that noisy flying beast? Yeah. But he's
- 13:22Speaker 1: not like Brendan... I almost said Brendan Penny. What's that
- 13:27Speaker 1: man's name? Brendan Fraser. Brendan Fraser. Yeah. Eating the frog
- 13:33Speaker 1: that they're dissecting in science class. Like he's like a
- 13:35Speaker 1: knight with manners in class. I liked it. Well, speaking
- 13:39Speaker 1: of that, I did enjoy Griffin's courtly devotion to Emily.
- 13:43Speaker 1: This is one element that I think kind of goes
- 13:48Speaker 1: from book to movie. The way that Griffin like speaks
- 13:51Speaker 1: to Emily and treats her like a, There is like a,
- 13:57Speaker 1: there's a romantic angle to it at all. Absolutely. Women
- 14:01Speaker 1: want to be like treated, well, I don't know if
- 14:03Speaker 1: all of them, but want to be like, you know,
- 14:05Speaker 1: courted in a sense, like in this sort of manner.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Even more than that, like he's just a gentleman. And
- 14:14Speaker 1: I think people want to be treated kindly and they
- 14:17Speaker 1: want someone who shows up for them and is on
- 14:20Speaker 1: their side and takes up for them against her ex-husband
- 14:23Speaker 1: and all of these things. Who is such a tool.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Such a tool. One of my other likes. Well, OK,
- 14:30Speaker 1: speaking of the ex-husband, I do like that the ex-husband
- 14:32Speaker 1: is part of the FBI investigation. Like it gives it
- 14:35Speaker 1: like a little bit of stakes. Like, oh, Emily is
- 14:38Speaker 1: going to be found out. But also it like doesn't
- 14:41Speaker 1: work for me. Just the FBI ex-husband is such a jerk.
- 14:45Speaker 1: But so it is like when you look at the
- 14:47Speaker 1: difference between like the terrible ex-husband. Yeah, Griffin shines bright. Exactly.
- 14:53Speaker 1: A literal knight in shining armor. Indeed. Okay. My final
- 14:58Speaker 1: like is I was so happy to see Maddie Finocchio
- 15:01Speaker 1: in this. Yes. However, Maddie is... I love Maddie. The
- 15:06Speaker 1: characters he plays are always so entertaining for me. But I'm, like,
- 15:11Speaker 1: annoyed that this is all they give him. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:14Speaker 1: You get to come in and be funny and, like, whatever,
- 15:16Speaker 1: and then you bounce, right? They're very one-dimensional to me. Like,
- 15:20Speaker 1: I loved him in Providence Falls because we got, like,
- 15:23Speaker 1: more meat from him. He was, like, this bad detective.
- 15:27Speaker 1: He was, like, a bad guy. Can we get more
- 15:29Speaker 1: Maddie Finocchio? Like, can we get more of than just this, like,
- 15:34Speaker 1: boss that says quirky things yeah give me some depth
- 15:37Speaker 1: yeah exactly i can't that was a like guys i
- 15:41Speaker 1: promise i hear you i have a couple more likes
- 15:43Speaker 1: all right i'm here when griffin rescues the kite from
- 15:45Speaker 1: the tree and the woman says you're practically a superhero
- 15:48Speaker 1: as he's standing there smiling like the lost hemsworth brother
- 15:51Speaker 1: yeah i was like that's good he does look like
- 15:54Speaker 1: hemsworth he really does yeah he really does the pink
- 15:57Speaker 1: robe i die die yeah that was funny And finally,
- 16:01Speaker 1: Chris McNally is a knight. Yes, please. His hair is
- 16:03Speaker 1: doing the absolute most in this scene. He's so cute.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And I'm so disappointed that he was in such a
- 16:10Speaker 1: crappy movie this year. Actually, he's not a knight, right?
- 16:12Speaker 1: He's just like an archer. He's an archer. Yeah. He's
- 16:15Speaker 1: just competing. He's like a regular old dude competing against
- 16:19Speaker 1: a professional, basically. Let's take a quick break and come
- 16:22Speaker 1: back to talk. Our wishes. By the way, I absolutely
- 16:26Speaker 1: knew that Griffin was going to split his arrow right
- 16:29Speaker 1: down the middle. Did you? Yeah. I knew that's what
- 16:31Speaker 1: was going to happen. I didn't. Is that like actually realistic?
- 16:35Speaker 1: I don't, I don't know. In cartoons. You know I
- 16:41Speaker 1: hate cartoons too, right? I did know that, yes. I'm not,
- 16:44Speaker 1: this isn't my first day in this friendship. all right
- 16:56Speaker 1: you want to talk wishes because i have a few
- 17:00Speaker 1: okay i needed more story about emily before we get
- 17:05Speaker 1: the night yes this is probably my biggest problem with
- 17:10Speaker 1: the movie like we know emily is divorced but Being
- 17:14Speaker 1: divorced is just information. It's not, like, character development. Yes.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And so is she heartbroken? Is she cynical? Like, is
- 17:22Speaker 1: she sad that she was divorced? Like, we know nothing.
- 17:26Speaker 1: We know nothing about her. In the book, we get, like,
- 17:29Speaker 1: a lot more set up. Right. And then, like we
- 17:33Speaker 1: said again, the book and the movie are worlds apart.
- 17:36Speaker 1: So we can't even, like, compare the two. Agree. But...
- 17:41Speaker 1: I needed to know more about Emily. And by the way,
- 17:44Speaker 1: just as an aside for anybody who's like, maybe I'll
- 17:46Speaker 1: read the book to see how it's different. Just as
- 17:49Speaker 1: a content warning, it's very spicy. So again, that is
- 17:52Speaker 1: not a thing that offends the two of us, but
- 17:54Speaker 1: you should be aware of that before reading it. It's beyond. Yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 1: I agree. Beyond spicy. I mean, it's like moment one. Yeah.
- 18:04Speaker 1: They're talking about tingling in places. Well, can I just
- 18:08Speaker 1: piggyback on that really quickly to your point about Emily?
- 18:11Speaker 1: She goes from, I can't do this right now with Griffin.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Like they're having a moment and she's like, I just,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I just can't, I can't go there with you. And
- 18:20Speaker 1: then the next day she's like, no, wait, I am
- 18:24Speaker 1: your one true love and I'm going to save you
- 18:25Speaker 1: from turning into stone forever. And I needed to see
- 18:28Speaker 1: how she got from one place to the other. You
- 18:31Speaker 1: needed to see why she was in the place of, well,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I can't do this right now. And I needed to see, okay, but,
- 18:37Speaker 1: It's a sharp left turn. Totally. But then on the
- 18:40Speaker 1: other side of that, tell me why Griffin is falling
- 18:44Speaker 1: in love with Emily. Other than, like, she saved him. Mm-hmm. Like... Soulmates. Really?
- 18:52Speaker 1: I don't know. Like, what are we... Like, that... I mean,
- 18:55Speaker 1: she's beautiful. But, like, there was never a reason why
- 18:58Speaker 1: I was like, oh, these two should be together. Mm. Like,
- 19:01Speaker 1: there was... none of that for me. Was it for you?
- 19:04Speaker 1: Are you thinking about it? Yeah. Well, I'm just trying
- 19:07Speaker 1: to think like how often in movies do we just,
- 19:10Speaker 1: do we get that explanation or is it just, yeah, no,
- 19:13Speaker 1: I hear you. I hear you. I do. What else
- 19:15Speaker 1: did you wish for? I kind of wish Griffin had
- 19:18Speaker 1: more charisma. You needed some Riz for our night. I did.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Like the fish out of water stuff doesn't like land
- 19:26Speaker 1: for me. Totally. Like, is that supposed to make him charming? Yeah.
- 19:31Speaker 1: When he says, it no rain. What is that? Noisy
- 19:34Speaker 1: flying beast. I laughed out loud at noisy flying beast.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I don't think that makes him charming. No. No, but
- 19:40Speaker 1: I think it makes it charming to Emily. Like Emily. Okay.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Let me explain this part. Let me just explain this part. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I do think the fish out of water material could
- 19:52Speaker 1: have been funnier because we reference it a lot. Last
- 19:55Speaker 1: year's a Newport Christmas. Look at me and my pants. Great.
- 19:58Speaker 1: That's such a freaking great line. That's a great fish
- 20:02Speaker 1: out of water moment. Like that's, I'm not, I mean,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you might talk about the noisy beast forever and ever
- 20:08Speaker 1: and No, probably not. But like there wasn't, you know,
- 20:11Speaker 1: like he couldn't get into the car because he had
- 20:14Speaker 1: his big sword on it. I'm like, no. He was
- 20:18Speaker 1: like looking in the trunk. What is this? Like what?
- 20:21Speaker 1: I'm getting a pumpkin spice latte. I just, I don't know.
- 20:25Speaker 1: You also hate old-timey stuff. Especially in this sort of
- 20:29Speaker 1: time frame. The medieval part of it. Yeah, like you're
- 20:33Speaker 1: not going to go to a renaissance fair. That's not
- 20:35Speaker 1: going to do it for you. I told you. Have fun, guys.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I'll meet you for dinner. Yeah, no, I have no
- 20:39Speaker 1: interest in going to a renaissance fair either. You won't
- 20:41Speaker 1: find me at medieval times either. When's the last time
- 20:43Speaker 1: you've been to medieval times? I don't know. Probably I
- 20:45Speaker 1: went for a child's birthday party many, many years ago.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I don't really enjoy it. I'm not like, go, green light, go. Yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 1: me neither. No, I... The, the role playing makes me uncomfortable.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Like if I was, if, if I was at a
- 21:00Speaker 1: Renaissance fair and people are like, Oh, hark, milady. No, no.
- 21:08Speaker 1: That would make me so uncomfortable. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like
- 21:12Speaker 1: TJ and Liz, you know, and when Luke goes, yes, yes. Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I don't like it then either. And Gilmore girls is
- 21:18Speaker 1: one of my favorite all time shows. Like I think
- 21:21Speaker 1: it's funny when Luke refuses to participate. I'm Luke Danes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 100%.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I think I am Luke Danes. I think I am
- 21:30Speaker 1: more ways than one. Guess who's going to dress up
- 21:34Speaker 1: as Luke Danes for Halloween, for Christmas, for Halloween. That's hilarious.
- 21:40Speaker 1: So funny. What else did you wish for? Just a
- 21:44Speaker 1: couple little things. I didn't think the stakes were very high.
- 21:49Speaker 1: For this big missing piece, like the FBI is involved,
- 21:53Speaker 1: like Emily doesn't really seem that concerned. They're like, huh,
- 21:56Speaker 1: guess we're never going to find it. Oh, well. That's
- 21:58Speaker 1: how they leave it. That's how they wrap it. And
- 22:01Speaker 1: I literally thought this while watching. I was like, it's
- 22:03Speaker 1: like when the Louvre was recently stolen from. You know
- 22:07Speaker 1: what I mean? Yeah, same stakes. Pretty much. Yeah. Well, okay,
- 22:11Speaker 1: here's what I want to talk about. It's actually in
- 22:12Speaker 1: my Digi-See-Thats, but since we're talking about it, remember when
- 22:15Speaker 1: we did our first impression episode and we're like, what's
- 22:17Speaker 1: the FBI investigating? Why did it not occur to us
- 22:20Speaker 1: that they were investigating that the statue would no longer
- 22:22Speaker 1: exist once it comes to life? I don't know. I
- 22:25Speaker 1: was like, oh, yeah. Duh. There's no statue anymore. And
- 22:30Speaker 1: I was really hoping Chris McNally was going to be
- 22:32Speaker 1: the FBI guy. I think we thought he was. I
- 22:34Speaker 1: thought he was going to be the ex-husband. And then
- 22:36Speaker 1: I thought, oh, no, he's going to be the brother
- 22:38Speaker 1: of Ivy, the lawyer. And then, no, he wasn't that either.
- 22:41Speaker 1: He was just some archer dude. Yeah, it was just
- 22:44Speaker 1: like he was on set, so they found a way
- 22:46Speaker 1: to use him. Yeah. I also didn't care about the
- 22:51Speaker 1: story about how Griffin became a statue. It was written
- 22:56Speaker 1: in the stars, that whole nonsense. Nope. John of Kent.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Didn't like any of that stuff. Got it. Too woo-woo
- 23:02Speaker 1: for me. And I like me some... I was gonna say,
- 23:05Speaker 1: that's a stretch. Yeah, I just was not... Nope. Nope.
- 23:09Speaker 1: And then my final... No, two. I have two more wishes.
- 23:12Speaker 1: What happens to Griffin now, now that he's human? She
- 23:15Speaker 1: says to him, we gotta get your own apartment. How?
- 23:17Speaker 1: How are you gonna pay for that? What's he gonna do?
- 23:19Speaker 1: What skills does he have? How is he gonna get
- 23:21Speaker 1: a real ID? For real. Oh, and she gets the
- 23:27Speaker 1: job at the inn where she's gonna travel the world
- 23:29Speaker 1: or whatever, like be the I don't know what she is. Oh,
- 23:33Speaker 1: of this night exhibit? Well, maybe he'll go with her
- 23:35Speaker 1: and he'll be like... With what ID? Yeah. How's he
- 23:38Speaker 1: going to get on an airplane? Tell me that. Tell
- 23:40Speaker 1: me that. Finally, my last wish. Even though I said
- 23:42Speaker 1: I have fall fatigue, I wish this was a fall movie.
- 23:45Speaker 1: We got pumpkin spice latte and a terrible orange tree
- 23:48Speaker 1: in the background at one point and they called it fall. Yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I was watching this movie and I was like, is
- 23:54Speaker 1: it because it's like there's something about the night of
- 23:56Speaker 1: it all, like that makes it feel like fall? I
- 24:00Speaker 1: can't really articulate that. But I was, it's only fall
- 24:04Speaker 1: in essence, right? Like it has a whiff of pumpkin
- 24:06Speaker 1: spice to it. A lot of faux foliage, like, over
- 24:10Speaker 1: the door of the museum. Totally. In the hallway, there
- 24:14Speaker 1: were some, like, Halloween decorations I saw. And, you know, the, oh,
- 24:18Speaker 1: the spiced pumpkin. I have gone to get you spiced pumpkin. Yeah. Also,
- 24:22Speaker 1: he can write quite well in a time that I'm
- 24:24Speaker 1: not sure a knight would have been able to write. Yeah.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Now that I think about it, we're Knights educated. Dunno.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Don't know. What are your wishes? We've gone through them.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Let's talk. Did you see that? My biggest one. This
- 24:36Speaker 1: is just more of a complaint corner as it has
- 24:39Speaker 1: become for me. This woman is at work. What makes
- 24:43Speaker 1: her think, I'm going to kiss the statue? I'm going
- 24:46Speaker 1: to put my mouth on the statue. Yeah, it was odd, right?
- 24:51Speaker 1: Like she read that inscription and she was like, oh,
- 24:54Speaker 1: why don't I kiss it? People have touched that thing.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Other people's mouths have probably been on that thing. Right,
- 24:59Speaker 1: because she even said, like, oh, I can tell it was, like, well-worn. Like,
- 25:03Speaker 1: obvious this— I' m not the first person to do it. So
- 25:07Speaker 1: she went ahead and did it? This is a professional environment. Well,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and I also think you're restoring an art piece. Like,
- 25:14Speaker 1: there's got to be stuff on your lips that is
- 25:16Speaker 1: not good for that stone. I know. It just was weird. Yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 1: I don't understand— I don't understand the choice to kiss
- 25:24Speaker 1: the statue. No, I remember when we did the first impression,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I wonder how she's just start
- 25:29Speaker 1: talking to this statue. Like, how does it, like, come
- 25:33Speaker 1: to life? Well, she kisses it like it's a toad,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and then it comes to life. Like, what? Indeed. My
- 25:43Speaker 1: did you see that's like she found that John of Kent.
- 25:45Speaker 1: She's like, Oh, John of Kent, my friend's doing an exhibit.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Here it is. Oh, you found that awfully fast. Takes
- 25:51Speaker 1: me longer to Google what my high school friends are
- 25:54Speaker 1: up to these days. The other is in Griffin's time
- 25:59Speaker 1: in the beginning when he's like, And, you know, he
- 26:02Speaker 1: rides out and overlooks his kingdom. It's awfully bright in
- 26:05Speaker 1: that kingdom for a time without electricity. Oh. Like, the
- 26:08Speaker 1: windows are all glowing bright. Candles? Very bright. I mean... LEDs? Like,
- 26:16Speaker 1: the interior of these homes would have been candlelit, and
- 26:19Speaker 1: I don't think they would have been glowing like that. Yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 1: That's all I'm saying. Here's another did you see that? So, like,
- 26:27Speaker 1: when Griffin... Sheds his marble. I know we're dealing with
- 26:31Speaker 1: Hallmark visual effects here. There's not a big budget. No.
- 26:35Speaker 1: It made me secondhand embarrassed. It was kind of cheesy. Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 1: It was like, have you seen the video of Olivia
- 26:42Speaker 1: Rodrigo's dress? Oh my gosh, have I ever. Melting off.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I have. Which is kind of cool. That's a cool
- 26:49Speaker 1: visual element, I think, in a live concert. It's a
- 26:52Speaker 1: very cool visual element. But did you also see... She
- 26:56Speaker 1: had to kind of like peel parts of it away. Yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Didn't quite totally work, but. Yeah. Very cool. Very cool though.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I was like, she's getting her hair wet. She's getting
- 27:04Speaker 1: her face wet. Totally. And then she's going to, is
- 27:07Speaker 1: that the end? I don't know. I'm like, she's going
- 27:09Speaker 1: to do the rest of the concert with wet hair.
- 27:10Speaker 1: She's got good hair enough to just let it air dry.
- 27:13Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking. I do not have hair good
- 27:15Speaker 1: enough to let it air dry. Anyway. Back to that scene,
- 27:18Speaker 1: I just was like, oh, I just, maybe a little nuance. Like,
- 27:22Speaker 1: they didn't need to show this whole, like, it felt, like, cartoony. Yeah. Like,
- 27:26Speaker 1: there's a scene, if you've seen the Santa Claus 3,
- 27:28Speaker 1: where they unfreeze Jack Frost. I know. And he, like,
- 27:34Speaker 1: bursts out of the ice, basically. And it is as
- 27:36Speaker 1: cheesy as this was. Also, when Griffin's fingers were kind
- 27:39Speaker 1: of like turning back to stone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's up,
- 27:42Speaker 1: Marty McFly? I was going to say the same thing.
- 27:45Speaker 1: A Back to the Future vibe to it. Absolutely. My
- 27:49Speaker 1: joke here is all they needed was Earth Angel laying
- 27:52Speaker 1: behind it. It was totally Back to the Future. It
- 27:56Speaker 1: really was. Marty McFly. It really was. I mean. I agree.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I mean, that's a wink and a nod to a
- 28:01Speaker 1: great movie, but. Come on. Us Gen Xers know the
- 28:04Speaker 1: real thing. We know a thing or two. Yeah. Do
- 28:06Speaker 1: not quote the ancient texts to me, which, yes. Yes.
- 28:11Speaker 1: That's all I got. Okay, well, I'm a little bit scared.
- 28:14Speaker 1: What'd you rate A Night to Remember? I gave it
- 28:16Speaker 1: three stars. Hey, I gave it 3.25 stars. Okay. I
- 28:21Speaker 1: actually did think it was cute, though. And I would
- 28:23Speaker 1: like more James Trebetna in my life. Well, he's coming
- 28:26Speaker 1: for you. A grand Biltmore Christmas. Yeah, I think he
- 28:29Speaker 1: has a small role in it, but... Maybe he's Holland Rodin's, like, current...
- 28:35Speaker 1: Holland Rodin? What? She's the female star? You're right. In
- 28:40Speaker 1: my head, you said Holland... Oh, you said Holland Rodin,
- 28:43Speaker 1: but in my head, I was thinking... Hunter King. Yes! Yes!
- 28:47Speaker 1: in my brain. They're similar in my brain. No, I'm
- 28:51Speaker 1: thinking maybe he's her present day love interest. Oh. Or
- 28:55Speaker 1: past day love interest. I don't really actually know. I
- 28:57Speaker 1: don't have the synopsis solidified in my brain. We'll find
- 29:00Speaker 1: out soon enough. Hey, thanks for listening to this episode
