- 1:25Speaker 5: It's a podcast called twenty five Whist Wine Wine.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Welcome to the show. Bite, everybody's here. We got a
- 1:35Speaker 2: lot to talk about.
- 1:36Speaker 1: We're gonna talk to Brandon Marcelo coming up, who is
- 1:38Speaker 1: my favorite college football analyst commentators. Now gonna be working
- 1:42Speaker 1: the sidelines on camera.
- 1:44Speaker 2: He's killing it. Let's hit the whistle. Thank you.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Now, there is no Eddie for this part. We recorded
- 1:50Speaker 1: a part earlier, but Eddie.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Had to leave.
- 1:53Speaker 1: We record this out of order sometimes, especially when we
- 1:55Speaker 1: have an interview. Eddie got sick, so you'll hear Eddie later.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But then after we recorded this, Eddie got sick going home.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I will start and I'm I'm sad edd He's not here.
- 2:04Speaker 1: But Rampage Jackson's son, Mike, did you watch this? Yeah?
- 2:08Speaker 1: So let me give everybody the the what happened? So,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Rampage Jackson is a UFC fighter way famous ten years ago,
- 2:18Speaker 1: still famous, but like Way fighter famous ten years ago.
- 2:21Speaker 1: His son is now twenty two, twenty three around that age,
- 2:26Speaker 1: and his son is a streamer. I think his name's
- 2:28Speaker 1: like Raja Raja, right, Raja r Ajh.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Rajah Jackson.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So he went to like a local wrestling promotion and
- 2:41Speaker 1: he's out there talking to the wrestlers beforehand. One of
- 2:43Speaker 1: the guys, who's obviously a wrestler and there are cameras everywhere,
- 2:46Speaker 1: thinks that he's one of the he looks like one
- 2:48Speaker 1: of the wrestlers. He's a big dude, and he takes
- 2:51Speaker 1: a can the can is empty, and does a wrestler
- 2:55Speaker 1: move on him and hits him in the hit with
- 2:56Speaker 1: the can, except there was nothing in the can, and
- 2:58Speaker 1: he did the thing where he like over it and
- 3:01Speaker 1: took the most of the blow within his hand to
- 3:04Speaker 1: look like it.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Am I making sense there? Yeah? It was a fake can.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Hit well, so Rajah Jackson is like, all right, let's fight.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Then like really wants to fight the dude, so they're
- 3:17Speaker 1: trying to split them up. Then you see the clip
- 3:21Speaker 1: of them talking about it and the wrestler we'll call
- 3:24Speaker 1: him the wrestler in Raja. The wrestler is like, my bad, dude.
- 3:27Speaker 1: All these cameras were around. I thought this was like
- 3:29Speaker 1: part of the show. Sorry about that, and they shake hands.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Do you see that?
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're like all good, all good. So it
- 3:37Speaker 1: went from being a misunderstanding and the misunderstanding I could
- 3:42Speaker 1: have understood Rajah Jackson getting upset, although he is.
- 3:46Speaker 2: He's a big streamer, so he's got cameras all around.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I get why both had a misunderstanding, but I got
- 3:51Speaker 1: it he didn't he's gonna hit in the head with the can.
- 3:52Speaker 1: But he also didn't really get hit in the head
- 3:54Speaker 1: with the can. It was a fake empty can. They
- 3:57Speaker 1: were doing a work. Then there's a big apology, sorry, sorry,
- 4:02Speaker 1: all good.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Hugged it out.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Then in the ring they had it set up a
- 4:06Speaker 1: roja was gonna come in and attack the wrestler. The
- 4:10Speaker 1: wrestler I didn't know him. His name is Psycho Stu.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I think it was like just a regional thing, right, Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I think kind of kind of fat guy and like
- 4:16Speaker 1: not like John Cena.
- 4:17Speaker 6: Normal big dude.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but Roja Jackson runs in the ring, jumps on
- 4:21Speaker 1: him and just starts to He picks him up first
- 4:23Speaker 1: of all, and slams him like UFC fighter hard and
- 4:26Speaker 1: starts to punch him in the face over and over
- 4:27Speaker 1: again with all of his might, like and so even
- 4:31Speaker 1: the people in the ring don't know it's fake at first.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Somebody runs in, It's like, I don't know what's supposed
- 4:35Speaker 1: to do here, And then finally they realized it and
- 4:38Speaker 1: they piled him off.
- 4:39Speaker 2: But the dude, apparently the wrestler was unresponsive.
- 4:42Speaker 7: I mean he wasn't moving in the ring, he was
- 4:43Speaker 7: just laying there.
- 4:44Speaker 1: He got punched so many times as hard as this
- 4:46Speaker 1: kid could punch him in the face. So then you
- 4:50Speaker 1: see the footage of him like people calling him like
- 4:53Speaker 1: you can't do that.
- 4:53Speaker 2: He's like, no, you can't. Just it looked to me
- 4:56Speaker 2: like Rajah Jackson.
- 4:58Speaker 1: People were talking crapped him in his chain and he
- 5:00Speaker 1: had to go prove to a streamers that he's about that.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I think his chat talked him into being rage filled
- 5:07Speaker 1: because they apologized.
- 5:09Speaker 2: They had the whole hug it out moment. I haven't
- 5:12Speaker 2: even gone to the story because I know you hit
- 5:14Speaker 2: me an official story on it.
- 5:15Speaker 7: Yeah, and then you just hear everybody in the crowd
- 5:17Speaker 7: like realize that it's not a bit, and everybody just
- 5:19Speaker 7: starts screaming yep. And then it take us like five
- 5:21Speaker 7: or six people to like a pin him down.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You watched the punching, Yeah, it was hard to look at.
- 5:28Speaker 7: I mean, you were hitting like a lifeless body.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Yep.
- 5:30Speaker 1: That's exactly what it was, his punching a lifeless body.
- 5:33Speaker 1: It started outside of the building before the event. I'm
- 5:35Speaker 1: gonna read the news story now because I just gave
- 5:37Speaker 1: you my interpretation of it all.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Raja got into a confrontation with Psycho Stu.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Stu hit him in the head with aluminum can Stu
- 5:43Speaker 1: thought Roja was a wrestler and since there was a
- 5:45Speaker 1: camera on him, he figured they should put on a show.
- 5:47Speaker 2: But Raja didn't take it that way. He was pissed.
- 5:49Speaker 1: The other wrestlers explained to Roger that Stu was just
- 5:51Speaker 1: doing wrestling stuff and not really trying to start anything.
- 5:53Speaker 2: They shook hands.
- 5:54Speaker 1: They decided to turn it into a work by having
- 5:57Speaker 1: Raja attack him in the ring.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Later, things got interesting.
- 5:59Speaker 1: One the wrestlers took Raja's side and said, hey, Stu
- 6:03Speaker 1: is an idiot for hitting you with a can. He
- 6:05Speaker 1: told Raja he should give Stu a receipt, which is
- 6:08Speaker 1: a code. And this happens in wrestling where you actually
- 6:10Speaker 1: like hit somebody once to go, hey, don't do things
- 6:15Speaker 1: that are kind of against the integrity of wrestling. You
- 6:18Speaker 1: hear a lot of the eighties and nineties guys talk
- 6:19Speaker 1: about giving receipts. And you see him on his phone
- 6:24Speaker 1: reading the chat and he's like, no, I'm going to
- 6:26Speaker 1: go in and beat the crap out of him. I'm
- 6:27Speaker 1: gonna like the chow was firing him up. And then
- 6:31Speaker 1: someone also filled him on the streets after the attack,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and he said he was tired of people playing with them.
- 6:36Speaker 7: Yeah, he's running down the street screaming.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Oh goly LAPD's investigating if he doesn't get charged. He
- 6:43Speaker 1: was beating a lifeless body and Psycho Stu, it's crazy
- 6:47Speaker 1: to call somebody that just psycho Stu thought it was
- 6:50Speaker 1: going to happen, but he thought it was gonna happen
- 6:52Speaker 1: in a different way, so it made himself vulnerable to
- 6:54Speaker 1: be picked up and slammed. He had no way to
- 6:57Speaker 1: defend himself because he was allowing that to happen to him,
- 7:00Speaker 1: to which he thought it was fake. He slams them
- 7:03Speaker 1: so hard as head hits and.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Then it's just punch punch. Oh my god, it's awful.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It is awful.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Speaking of wrestling, John Cenas retirement date is happening. It's
- 7:13Speaker 1: gonna be on Saturday Night's main event in December, his
- 7:16Speaker 1: final match December thirteenth.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Is this gonna be like cowboy rides away or no, like.
- 7:20Speaker 1: He's not gonna go Well, it's not that he doesn't
- 7:22Speaker 1: go away. He goes away, but every once in a
- 7:24Speaker 1: while he comes back.
- 7:25Speaker 7: I mean, it's wrestling. The Rock still comes back from
- 7:27Speaker 7: time to time. So I think it's him retiring from
- 7:30Speaker 7: being in the ring as far as like in a match,
- 7:32Speaker 7: but I think he'll come back.
- 7:33Speaker 1: The other fight, and we talk about this with Brandon Marcelo,
- 7:36Speaker 1: was the fight after the Kansas State football game and
- 7:38Speaker 1: you see Avery Johnson's dad fighting somebody. Avery Johnson's the
- 7:43Speaker 1: Kansas State quarterback. Kansas State got beat. It was a
- 7:45Speaker 1: close game, two good teams in Ireland. I watched the
- 7:48Speaker 1: whole game. It was Kansas State and Iowa State all
- 7:51Speaker 1: rooting for Kansas State because I bet Kansas State and
- 7:54Speaker 1: you see they're like, Avery Johnson's dad's in a fight.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Turns out he was beating up his son. The other brother.
- 8:03Speaker 8: Is everybody okay exactly.
- 8:05Speaker 2: They've all They've released the joint statement since then. But
- 8:08Speaker 2: it is.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Crazy because you just go, somebody must have talked crap
- 8:11Speaker 1: to Avery Johnson's dad and he's like, I've got a
- 8:14Speaker 1: couple of.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Beers, let's go.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But turns out it was the dad and the sun
- 8:18Speaker 1: his other Avery Johnson's brother.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Crazy. Uh so, yeah, that's what's up. Football was interesting.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I lost like seven hundred dollars in the first game
- 8:28Speaker 1: because I bet Kansas State minus three and then I
- 8:32Speaker 1: bet them plus two and a half.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Once they went down.
- 8:34Speaker 1: They ended up losing by three, so I lost both
- 8:36Speaker 1: both of those bets. Then I was like, all right,
- 8:38Speaker 1: screw this, I'm going all on in Kansas because I
- 8:40Speaker 1: know coach Leipold's little bet and so I.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Bet Kansas heavy and they ran. It was awesome.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Kurt Warner's son is the present State quarterback. Though lost
- 8:50Speaker 1: the game they were supposed to lose. I think the
- 8:51Speaker 1: spread was like thirteen. I bet Kansas minus thirteen. They
- 8:55Speaker 1: easily covered, but I made all my money back plus.
- 8:57Speaker 1: But I was about to go heavy in the whole
- 8:58Speaker 1: Week one, heavy in the begins already, Yes, heavy in
- 9:02Speaker 1: the whole.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Do we want to go to Brandon? Now?
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, let's go over my chat with I'm not
- 9:07Speaker 1: calling the best in the business when it comes to
- 9:09Speaker 1: reporting and talking college football, Brandon Marcelo. Brandon is one
- 9:12Speaker 1: of the guys who never says, hey, what do you
- 9:13Speaker 1: what are you going to talk about?
- 9:14Speaker 2: So I can be ready.
- 9:15Speaker 1: He's just like, let's go, Brandon will be joining us
- 9:19Speaker 1: a bunch. You can follow Brandon at Brandon Marslo on Instagram,
- 9:22Speaker 1: at b Marcelo on Twitter, and then read his articles
- 9:25Speaker 1: at cbssports dot com. Here he is, Brandon Marcello. Before
- 9:29Speaker 1: we get to a bit of week zero in Week one,
- 9:32Speaker 1: what is the what's the what's the new job you
- 9:34Speaker 1: have here?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Brandon? You on the sideline you're gonna be doing for
- 9:37Speaker 2: reporting or what?
- 9:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna be doing a little bit of everything.
- 9:39Speaker 5: This year, I'm going to be on the sideline doing
- 9:42Speaker 5: some reporting for CBS Sports Network during this season. I've
- 9:46Speaker 5: got one game on the book so far, and in
- 9:49Speaker 5: addition to my other duties for CBS Sports dot Com
- 9:52Speaker 5: writing and then also on TV for CBS Sports HQ
- 9:56Speaker 5: and our new podcast we launch College College Football Insiders.
- 9:59Speaker 5: So very very busy times, but exciting because it's football season.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I saw your jacket. That's gonna be pretty cool. We
- 10:05Speaker 1: got the old CBS jacket, the logo.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I mean, that's official.
- 10:09Speaker 5: I was not expecting that. I totally like flipped my mind, like,
- 10:12Speaker 5: oh yeah, we still do that. And they asked for
- 10:15Speaker 5: my address, and when I got it, I my heart
- 10:18Speaker 5: was just it's an absolute dream. I don't even know
- 10:20Speaker 5: how to describe it. It was just it's insane. It's incredible.
- 10:23Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And I was so happy for you when I saw that,
- 10:25Speaker 1: because that's like a thing like when they send you,
- 10:28Speaker 1: they send you the actual jacket with their own mind.
- 10:30Speaker 1: They're paying for that, And anytime anybody pays for anything,
- 10:32Speaker 1: it means they're investing in you. They've promoted you into
- 10:35Speaker 1: this position, they think you're good, Like.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I felt proud for it. Not proud of you, but
- 10:38Speaker 2: proud for you because I think you're the best.
- 10:40Speaker 6: Thanks.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Thanks, Bobby. I appreciate it, man, and listen, I've been
- 10:43Speaker 5: doing this soul for a while and just you just
- 10:46Speaker 5: got to keep working hard. At some point, you know,
- 10:47Speaker 5: you'll start getting opportunities. So I really appreciate it.
- 10:50Speaker 6: Bobby.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Let's talk a little bit a week zero.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I saw the article you wrote about Abrad Johnson at
- 10:55Speaker 1: Kansas State. Did you happen to know that his dad
- 10:57Speaker 1: and brother were also beefing with each other?
- 10:59Speaker 5: I had no idea until I saw the video and
- 11:01Speaker 5: then the statement they released after the game. You know,
- 11:05Speaker 5: tippers flair among families, I guess, especially competitive families, and
- 11:09Speaker 5: I was but I was shocked. I mean it was
- 11:11Speaker 5: a legit street fight, like in the in the water,
- 11:14Speaker 5: in the rain street. Hey, that's the day and age
- 11:18Speaker 5: we live in. You better be aware that everybody's got
- 11:21Speaker 5: a camera, obviously, and if you're gonna do something publicly,
- 11:23Speaker 5: it's gonna be caught on film.
- 11:24Speaker 2: And it did not.
- 11:26Speaker 5: I mean it was out within like an hour like
- 11:28Speaker 5: after the game, that it was out there already. You
- 11:31Speaker 5: just gotta keep yourself I mean, save that for the
- 11:34Speaker 5: hotel room. Go back to the hotel room and do
- 11:36Speaker 5: your fight if you have to.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I saw the clip at first, and it said Avery
- 11:40Speaker 1: Johnson's dad gets into fight and it looked like he
- 11:42Speaker 1: was pounding somebody over a mud puddle or like a
- 11:45Speaker 1: concrete puddle.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Right, it was one of those. And then later it.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Came out that that was Avery Johnson's brother, so also
- 11:51Speaker 1: his son, right, so all that, like, do we have
- 11:53Speaker 1: any idea why they fought?
- 11:55Speaker 5: No clue, no idea. I mean, obviously it was a drama,
- 12:00Speaker 5: had a game and heartbreaking loss the way they lost
- 12:02Speaker 5: it because Kansas State, you know, went four on fourth
- 12:04Speaker 5: down late, didn't get it. Iowa State got the ball
- 12:07Speaker 5: back and was able to go score to win the game.
- 12:11Speaker 5: I'm sure there was Listen, there's always sibling rivalries too,
- 12:15Speaker 5: you know. You know, I would love to have been
- 12:19Speaker 5: a fly in the stands to hear what they were
- 12:21Speaker 5: saying while everything was happening there at the end of
- 12:24Speaker 5: the game.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I thought there were a couple of pretty fun Week
- 12:27Speaker 1: zero games. I thought that was a pretty good game
- 12:29Speaker 1: because I watched I watched two full games. I watched
- 12:31Speaker 1: the Iowa State Kansas State game, which I'll say I don't.
- 12:36Speaker 6: I don't.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I don't mind the.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Games overseas, like I feel like they could be annoying
- 12:39Speaker 1: for the players. And why are colleges going over? I
- 12:42Speaker 1: get NFL going over, you're trying to stretch the brand,
- 12:44Speaker 1: but college is a little weird. But in Ireland, where
- 12:46Speaker 1: it rains a lot playing in it's not even a dome,
- 12:50Speaker 1: Like everything just fell off about that.
- 12:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't understand why they do either. And in fact,
- 12:56Speaker 5: there's a lot of coaches out there that have told me, like,
- 12:59Speaker 5: we will go overseas, Like if they tell me it's
- 13:02Speaker 5: up to me, I will say, no, absolutely not. And
- 13:05Speaker 5: you saw it on display Saturday. I mean the yard
- 13:08Speaker 5: markers were barely even visible on the field. Even repainted
- 13:11Speaker 5: them at halftime and they're still not visible. The field
- 13:14Speaker 5: was just an absolute mess. And plus just the travel
- 13:18Speaker 5: for it. You know, Kansas State didn't actually lead to
- 13:20Speaker 5: a little bit later for game week than you usually do.
- 13:24Speaker 5: A lot of NFL teams have started doing that a
- 13:26Speaker 5: little bit because they just want to get there, get
- 13:29Speaker 5: one day rest and then get in and get out.
- 13:32Speaker 5: And I don't know what the best way to do
- 13:35Speaker 5: that is, but to go six time zones away to
- 13:37Speaker 5: go play one game, especially season opener, I don't know,
- 13:40Speaker 5: unless there's a lot of money into that. In the future,
- 13:43Speaker 5: I think we're gonna see less games like that. And Bobby,
- 13:45Speaker 5: I mean you've seen this, like there's been less and
- 13:47Speaker 5: less neutral site games early in the year. We're gonna
- 13:50Speaker 5: have a few this year, but we're moving further and
- 13:53Speaker 5: further away from that too. And the reason why is
- 13:55Speaker 5: because these athletic directors want to bring games on campus
- 13:59Speaker 5: so they can sell tickets, sell concessions, and then also
- 14:03Speaker 5: get some better revenue from that, because as we've seen nowadays,
- 14:06Speaker 5: is the revenue sharing you with the players. You've got
- 14:09Speaker 5: to get every every ounce you can out of those
- 14:11Speaker 5: fans with their tickets.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'll go one more game from this past weekend and
- 14:15Speaker 1: I watched the Kansas p Fresno State game. It feels
- 14:18Speaker 1: like both Kansas programs, and I know Kansas State lost,
- 14:20Speaker 1: but definitely that program is in an upward trajectory. Same
- 14:25Speaker 1: with Kansas. They have a new stadium. They looked fast.
- 14:28Speaker 1: The quarterback that we saw play Arkansas real close a
- 14:30Speaker 1: couple of years ago, he looked awesome.
- 14:33Speaker 2: He was healthy.
- 14:34Speaker 1: He's his sixty year playing, So like Kansas really looked
- 14:37Speaker 1: fast yesterday.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Any thoughts on Kansas.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Yeah, they're gonna be really good this year. They're going
- 14:42Speaker 5: to be right in the thick of things, especially if
- 14:43Speaker 5: Jayaln Daniels, the quarterback, as you mentioned in stay healthy
- 14:46Speaker 5: because his issue the reason why he's playing in six years,
- 14:48Speaker 5: because he's had injuries over and over and over again.
- 14:50Speaker 5: They've mostly had to deal with his back. And if
- 14:52Speaker 5: you have a back injury, even back spasms, I mean,
- 14:55Speaker 5: that is so difficult to get rid of and even
- 14:57Speaker 5: be able to play one hundred percent even when you
- 14:59Speaker 5: are able to on the field. That's going to be
- 15:01Speaker 5: key for them. Can Jalen Daniels stay healthy. And at
- 15:04Speaker 5: your point about Kansas and Kansas State, but both being
- 15:06Speaker 5: good at the same time. That's kind of been the
- 15:08Speaker 5: case off and off of better part of the last
- 15:10Speaker 5: four years. A little bit down year obviously with Kansas
- 15:13Speaker 5: last year because of the injury of Jalen Daniels, but
- 15:16Speaker 5: both programs led by former FCS head coaches who won
- 15:21Speaker 5: championships on the FCS level, and again it just shows
- 15:24Speaker 5: you that if you're a championship type coach. That translates
- 15:28Speaker 5: to no matter what level, really and Kansas and Kansas
- 15:31Speaker 5: State did a smart thing and just said, hey, these
- 15:33Speaker 5: guys win titles, they know how to build rosters. Bring
- 15:36Speaker 5: them over here, and let's do that here. And the
- 15:38Speaker 5: more remarkable job of rebuilding has been done by Lancelipold
- 15:42Speaker 5: at Kansas, because that place was absolutely in the dumps
- 15:44Speaker 5: in the Big Twelve. Then all of a sudden a
- 15:46Speaker 5: few years back, they beat Texas on the road in
- 15:49Speaker 5: a high scoring, really exciting game. And now they're on
- 15:52Speaker 5: the rise, and they've got a three hundred and fifty
- 15:54Speaker 5: million dollars stadium to boot. They've got things really rolling
- 15:57Speaker 5: there in Lawrence.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I think coach, I wouldn't say a friend, but almost friend.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Where we text, I like coach like paul a lot,
- 16:04Speaker 1: and so I text him yesterday. I waited till way
- 16:07Speaker 1: after the game, and I said, this is typical coach
- 16:10Speaker 1: to speak back, but I said, hey, you guys look
- 16:12Speaker 1: really fast, because I thought they did. They looked really fast.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I said, solid week one, stadium looks great. Hope you're good,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and he sent the text back, Thanks, Bobby, appreciate the text.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Proud of the team, but plenty to clean up, so
- 16:22Speaker 1: you know, classic coach speak, the stadium turned out.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Great, come up here for a game.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I really like him and I like that he's been
- 16:28Speaker 1: able to go because he turned Buffalo around two, right,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and those are terrible blue colors, and it's harder to
- 16:34Speaker 1: turn around a blue team than any other team. I
- 16:36Speaker 1: have a theory, and so you know I'm rooting for
- 16:38Speaker 1: both those Kansas teams. It's the Fresno State coach. Also
- 16:41Speaker 1: a coach that came from the same pedigree and then
- 16:44Speaker 1: went to USC for a year and now it's coaching
- 16:47Speaker 1: for Fresno State. And I think you're seeing those guys
- 16:50Speaker 1: that come from those building those winning programs. If you'll
- 16:53Speaker 1: give them some time, they also can build at the
- 16:55Speaker 1: Division one level as well, right.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Oh absolutely, I mean look at Kaylin de Bort Alabama.
- 17:00Speaker 5: I mean he came from like the Naia level and
- 17:03Speaker 5: then moved his way up Division III level, actually moved
- 17:05Speaker 5: his way up and then landed at Washington and took
- 17:09Speaker 5: them to the National Championship Game. Then obviously now coaching Alabama,
- 17:14Speaker 5: which some would argue is the top job in America.
- 17:16Speaker 5: But he's never really been in a job where he's
- 17:18Speaker 5: facing the Mets pressure, and last year was their first
- 17:20Speaker 5: non ten win season and since two thousand and seven,
- 17:24Speaker 5: so like now all the pressure's like, well, you better
- 17:26Speaker 5: win ten, eleven, twelve games getting the playoff this year,
- 17:28Speaker 5: or you're the worst coach ever. But you know, the
- 17:30Speaker 5: guy just simply wins. He wins like ninety percent of
- 17:32Speaker 5: his games, which is almost unheard of these days.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Texas and Ohio State we're starting off.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I mean, you couldn't You couldn't bang bigger to start
- 17:40Speaker 1: off the season.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Which team is more loaded with stars?
- 17:44Speaker 5: That's a great question. I think Ohio State by the
- 17:47Speaker 5: end of the year will be. You know, when you
- 17:49Speaker 5: think Ohio State, all you think of is Jeremiah Smith
- 17:53Speaker 5: Caleb downs there on the back end at safety. But
- 17:56Speaker 5: they've got other players on that ross that aren't quite
- 17:59Speaker 5: proven yet that I think are going to end up
- 18:00Speaker 5: being superstars, like maybe a James Peoples at running back.
- 18:04Speaker 5: The thing with Ohio State though, like a lot of
- 18:06Speaker 5: teams these days, but the thing with Ohio State is
- 18:08Speaker 5: they lose practically everybody on defense, and they lose a
- 18:11Speaker 5: lot of guys on offense as well, including the quarterback
- 18:14Speaker 5: Will Howard. But you got Jeremiah Smith, so everybody just
- 18:18Speaker 5: kind of says, well, Ohio State's a top three, top
- 18:20Speaker 5: four team this year. I think early in the year here,
- 18:23Speaker 5: Ohio State might struggle a little bit because they're gonna
- 18:26Speaker 5: be trying to find their identity with all these new pieces,
- 18:28Speaker 5: even though they're very talented and they've been backups most
- 18:31Speaker 5: of their careers there, Whereas with Texas, I think you'll
- 18:35Speaker 5: notice more names you like. Of course Arch Maining, we
- 18:37Speaker 5: know him. But with Texas, the thing for them is
- 18:40Speaker 5: that they're really talent along the defensive front, and they've
- 18:43Speaker 5: got some really great players there. It's just that no
- 18:45Speaker 5: one considers alignment a household name. So guys like Colin
- 18:49Speaker 5: Simmons and those got type of guys. They're phenomenal, some
- 18:51Speaker 5: of the best players you'll see on a football field
- 18:53Speaker 5: in week one, but no one goes out and puts
- 18:55Speaker 5: posters on their walls of defensive linemen. But Ohio State.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Ohio State's gonna have the bigger names, I think by
- 19:01Speaker 5: the end of the year. But Texas might right now
- 19:04Speaker 5: just simply have the most proven superstar types that are
- 19:08Speaker 5: maybe not flashy at the skill positions. Other than Arch maining, you're.
- 19:12Speaker 2: A well connected guy.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Do you think they actually just figured out who their
- 19:17Speaker 1: starting quarterback is at Ohio State or they've known and
- 19:19Speaker 1: just didn't want to say it.
- 19:21Speaker 5: They've had an inkling since the spring. But the thing
- 19:24Speaker 5: with coaches is is they legitimately pretty much try to
- 19:27Speaker 5: do a bank slate blank slate when they go into
- 19:28Speaker 5: preseason camp and they try to make sure it's an
- 19:31Speaker 5: even competition, to give them every opportunity to prove themselves
- 19:35Speaker 5: or for that matter, kind of crumble under the pressure.
- 19:38Speaker 5: And there was a moment there in preseason camp where
- 19:40Speaker 5: leacoln Keynolts was able to show something. But it was
- 19:44Speaker 5: very clear from the teammates and some of the assistant
- 19:46Speaker 5: coaches there that Julian Sane was the more talented guy
- 19:49Speaker 5: higher upside ready to take over. Lincoln was more of
- 19:52Speaker 5: that veteran type, someone you knew probably wouldn't make a mistake,
- 19:56Speaker 5: but it's not going to be as flashy with his arm,
- 19:58Speaker 5: and you know, they just needed to push Julian through
- 20:01Speaker 5: these few weeks of preseason camp and see that he
- 20:04Speaker 5: can handle all the pressure and everything, and he proved himself.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Let's talk about Clemson for a second, because I wonder
- 20:09Speaker 1: if the pendulum is swinging back in a positive way
- 20:11Speaker 1: with with Zabo, because it's he doesn't want to go
- 20:14Speaker 1: and take his out of the portal. He doesn't want
- 20:16Speaker 1: to do all these new a we'll call him new age,
- 20:18Speaker 1: but everybody's doing him now. But then you see last
- 20:21Speaker 1: year he had basically the least amount of kids leave.
- 20:24Speaker 1: So the culture that he's been building at times, which
- 20:28Speaker 1: was zagging while everybody else zigged, it's either going to
- 20:31Speaker 1: pay off big time this season, right, or he's going
- 20:35Speaker 1: to have to change. I don't know how he manages
- 20:38Speaker 1: and builds a team. Would you say that's accurate?
- 20:40Speaker 5: Possibly? I will say, like, I think he's evolving a
- 20:43Speaker 5: little bit, like this past year was the first time
- 20:45Speaker 5: he took multiple kids out of the transfer portal. But
- 20:47Speaker 5: you're right, absolutely correct in saying that he has not
- 20:50Speaker 5: been a guy who's leaned onto the portal. In fact,
- 20:53Speaker 5: the only portal guys they were end up getting a
- 20:55Speaker 5: few the last few years were former walk ons, you know,
- 20:58Speaker 5: guys that even had played it previously he was bringing back.
- 21:01Speaker 5: But the difference with Clemson is that he's brought in
- 21:04Speaker 5: four and five star kids and they've stayed, they're not leaving,
- 21:08Speaker 5: they're not transferring out where. That's happening everywhere else in America,
- 21:11Speaker 5: and as you mentioned, that's straight up culture. And in
- 21:14Speaker 5: this era where I mean most rosters are turning over
- 21:18Speaker 5: at least thirty thirty five guys at the very least,
- 21:20Speaker 5: it's not happening at Clemson. So I think a lot
- 21:23Speaker 5: of us assume, based off of the way they finished
- 21:26Speaker 5: last year and everybody returning back, that they've got an
- 21:28Speaker 5: edge on everybody else on the schedule, and for that matter,
- 21:31Speaker 5: everybody else in college football because they all know each other,
- 21:34Speaker 5: they've been in the same system for several years. You
- 21:37Speaker 5: don't get that in college football anymore. And they should
- 21:40Speaker 5: be one of the top three or four teams in
- 21:42Speaker 5: the country this season. And the reason why a lot
- 21:45Speaker 5: of pick people picked them to win the national championship.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Penn State at two. How much of that is Drewler.
- 21:50Speaker 5: I think a lot of that is not necessarily him.
- 21:52Speaker 5: I think a lot of it is just everybody else
- 21:54Speaker 5: that returns around him. And I think the upgrades they've
- 21:57Speaker 5: made a receiver through the transfer portal. They've got a
- 21:59Speaker 5: guy like Trevor Pinn from Syracuse, who is like eleven
- 22:02Speaker 5: hundred twelve hundred yard guy. Remember Penn State, And one
- 22:05Speaker 5: thing that's probably been holding them back is just the
- 22:06Speaker 5: passing game. They can't throw the ball down the field consistently,
- 22:10Speaker 5: and Drew Aller has not been very consistent, especially on
- 22:13Speaker 5: intermedia and short throws, which is amazing. He'll hit deep throws,
- 22:16Speaker 5: but like the intermediate stuff, the stuff you need those
- 22:18Speaker 5: little chunk plays to keep the ball moving. He has
- 22:21Speaker 5: struggled a little bit. But I think the reason why
- 22:23Speaker 5: Penn State is ranked as high as they are, and
- 22:24Speaker 5: I put him number two in my rankings too, is
- 22:27Speaker 5: that it's because they returned so much much like Ohio
- 22:30Speaker 5: State last year, where they went all in and went
- 22:33Speaker 5: to the transfer portal, got the top players they could,
- 22:35Speaker 5: and then kept everybody that could have once the NFL
- 22:37Speaker 5: on campus, guys like Nick Dawkins at center, who's incredibly underrated.
- 22:42Speaker 5: They are stacked at Penn State this year, and not
- 22:45Speaker 5: just on the field, but also on the sideline. I
- 22:47Speaker 5: mean they would hire Jim Knowles, the defensive coordinator fresh
- 22:50Speaker 5: off winning a national championship at Ohio State, made him
- 22:53Speaker 5: the highest paid coordinator in the country. So Penn State
- 22:57Speaker 5: is I mean, if they don't have to tell you,
- 22:59Speaker 5: they're showing you they're all in on this year. They're
- 23:01Speaker 5: pushing in the middle of the table that this is
- 23:02Speaker 5: the year they've got to win the championship.
- 23:04Speaker 1: We saw the SEC say we're going to play nine
- 23:06Speaker 1: conference games, plus you have to play a game against
- 23:10Speaker 1: a powerful school, and which is some teams are gonna
- 23:13Speaker 1: hapen to do some some restructuring now because you know,
- 23:15Speaker 1: looking at twenty six twenty seven, maybe there aren't enough
- 23:18Speaker 1: P four games outside of the conference, especially when you
- 23:21Speaker 1: have to substitute another conference games.
- 23:23Speaker 2: So the SEC like they're in.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I'm a homer, but shouldn't there be four guaranteed spots
- 23:29Speaker 1: to the SEC now that we're going nine plus one
- 23:32Speaker 1: P four game.
- 23:33Speaker 5: That's what the Big ten's arguing. But I think because
- 23:36Speaker 5: of the SEC now deciding to do this nine game schedule,
- 23:39Speaker 5: it's actually going to put more pressure on the Big
- 23:41Speaker 5: Ten to get on board with the other conferences by
- 23:45Speaker 5: not doing the four aqs and the CFP doing a
- 23:48Speaker 5: sixteen team format, but doing so with the five highest
- 23:50Speaker 5: ranked conference champions and eleven at larges. What's been so
- 23:55Speaker 5: fascinating about this whole playoff debate is that the Big
- 23:58Speaker 5: Ten and SEC at the like director were on the
- 24:00Speaker 5: same page with the four AQ idea for months because
- 24:03Speaker 5: they were a meeting together. Remember they had two big,
- 24:05Speaker 5: kind of hushhot secret of meetings in Nashville and then
- 24:08Speaker 5: also in New Orleans, and they're all on the same page.
- 24:11Speaker 5: But then the moment they got away from each other.
- 24:13Speaker 5: The SEC coaches are like, we like the more at
- 24:16Speaker 5: largest because we believe if there's more at large spots,
- 24:19Speaker 5: the SEC can get six to seven, maybe even eight
- 24:22Speaker 5: teams into the playoff, Whereas with the Big Ten, it's
- 24:26Speaker 5: a very strong conference at the top. It might be
- 24:28Speaker 5: better than anybody else, but they don't have the one
- 24:31Speaker 5: through sixteen and one through eighteen depth that the SEC has.
- 24:36Speaker 5: So if you go back and look at the averages
- 24:38Speaker 5: and everything, and I've tried to crunch the math on this,
- 24:40Speaker 5: the SEC is practically going to be ahead of them
- 24:43Speaker 5: every step of the way if it's a five plus eleven,
- 24:45Speaker 5: which means more money for the SEC and less money
- 24:49Speaker 5: for the Big Ten and the Big Ten a lot
- 24:52Speaker 5: of ways they want to do this four AQ thing
- 24:53Speaker 5: because one, of course, you get four teams in every year,
- 24:55Speaker 5: even if you probably don't have a fourth team that
- 24:58Speaker 5: deserves to be in. So that's money. But also it
- 25:00Speaker 5: allows them to create playoff play in games on their
- 25:03Speaker 5: conference championship weekend, which is an additional two games in
- 25:07Speaker 5: addition to the conference championship game that they can sell
- 25:09Speaker 5: to their TV partners. In addition to giving hope to
- 25:13Speaker 5: other Big Ten teams that are ranked lower, say as
- 25:16Speaker 5: low as number eight, that hey, all we got to
- 25:18Speaker 5: do now is win one game and we get a
- 25:20Speaker 5: playoff spot. That's exciting. That's exciting for fans, it certainly is.
- 25:24Speaker 5: But in the end, the more important thing is is
- 25:27Speaker 5: that they get the money. And the SEC is kind
- 25:31Speaker 5: of fine with how way everything is right now, and
- 25:34Speaker 5: the other conferences don't want to see the Big Ten
- 25:36Speaker 5: and SEC have committed spots. Because I do this comparison
- 25:42Speaker 5: whenever I hear this, you know, it would be like
- 25:44Speaker 5: ten years ago the ACC right after they broke the
- 25:48Speaker 5: record for most teams in the NLA Men's Basketball Tournament, saying, hey,
- 25:52Speaker 5: with the new contract with the men's tournament, we want
- 25:56Speaker 5: eight automatic bids every year. The SEC you get three
- 26:00Speaker 5: because based off this rolling average, the last five years,
- 26:03Speaker 5: the SEC has been by far the worst conference in basketball.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Well fast forward ten years later, if we were under
- 26:09Speaker 5: that format, guess what, The SEC just broke the record
- 26:13Speaker 5: for most teams ever in the Insult Men's Basketball Tournament.
- 26:17Speaker 5: No one thought that was possible ten years ago. So
- 26:19Speaker 5: if they decided to do a contract much like the
- 26:21Speaker 5: college football playoff this year, can you imagine with the
- 26:24Speaker 5: outroar we'd be having right now? Football basketball are different.
- 26:27Speaker 5: I understand that, But if you were to do this
- 26:30Speaker 5: AQ scenario, you're going to have conferences go absolutely down
- 26:36Speaker 5: the tubes at times year year, three, year seven, something
- 26:40Speaker 5: like that, and you're going to go this league deserves
- 26:43Speaker 5: maybe one or two teams in. They definitely don't deserve four,
- 26:47Speaker 5: and their number eight team definitely doesn't deserve a chance
- 26:50Speaker 5: by just winning one game in a play in game
- 26:52Speaker 5: to get in. So I very much understand that argument
- 26:55Speaker 5: that we're hearing across college football right now.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Do you think that conference championship games are short lived
- 27:01Speaker 1: now because they need that spot that weekend?
- 27:04Speaker 5: It depends on who you talk to. The SEC doesn't
- 27:07Speaker 5: want the championship game to go away. The SEC championship game,
- 27:11Speaker 5: I think the other conferences would maybe be okay with
- 27:14Speaker 5: it going away and just going by the regular season
- 27:16Speaker 5: standings and say, you know, Clemson finished No. One in
- 27:18Speaker 5: the ACC, so you're your champion, and then the number
- 27:21Speaker 5: one and number two teams in the standings sit at home,
- 27:23Speaker 5: and then you do two play in games. I don't
- 27:26Speaker 5: really know what the answer is going to be there,
- 27:29Speaker 5: I pers but personally, I don't want to see conference
- 27:32Speaker 5: championship games go away. I just don't. I think they're exciting.
- 27:36Speaker 5: You don't quite ever know what's going to happen. It
- 27:38Speaker 5: has changed the playoff field. In fact, on championship weekend,
- 27:43Speaker 5: I can remember Michigan State pullowing an upset in the
- 27:45Speaker 5: Big Ten championship to pave the way for Auburn and
- 27:48Speaker 5: the SEC to get in and back in twenty fourteen.
- 27:52Speaker 5: We just can't. I don't think you can get rid
- 27:54Speaker 5: of those championship games.
- 27:55Speaker 1: One other question that you're not going to have the
- 27:57Speaker 1: answer to because nobody does. But I've seen you tweet
- 28:00Speaker 1: about it, and I have had thoughts as well as
- 28:01Speaker 1: the SEC says, hey, we're gonna have nine games in conference,
- 28:07Speaker 1: but every team's going to play three specific same teams
- 28:11Speaker 1: every year, and they said they laid out what they
- 28:13Speaker 1: were basing it on, like geography, I think was a
- 28:16Speaker 1: bit rivalries, and then also they wanted it to be fair,
- 28:20Speaker 1: like balance, and who knows what balance means? The same
- 28:22Speaker 1: thing you just talked about with putting teams into a tournament.
- 28:25Speaker 1: That's what balance is, because you don't know who's going
- 28:27Speaker 1: to be great in five years or who's not.
- 28:29Speaker 2: But when do we know? And then I don't know.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I'm just so selfish and thinking about Arkansas that we're
- 28:35Speaker 1: going to get every absolute worst team we could possibly get.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Somehow We're going to play teams Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State not.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Even in the SEC. Like when are we going to know?
- 28:44Speaker 2: And then what do you I don't know, who do
- 28:46Speaker 2: you think Arkansas plays?
- 28:47Speaker 5: I think that by November, I'm just guesstimating based off
- 28:53Speaker 5: things I've heard. Probably even build mid season, they're gonna
- 28:56Speaker 5: have a good idea of what the three permanent rivals
- 28:58Speaker 5: are going to be. I don't know if the see
- 29:00Speaker 5: we'll just go ahead announce that, but it will be
- 29:02Speaker 5: based off some formula rolling winning average, whether it's for
- 29:06Speaker 5: the past five years, the past ten years previously when
- 29:08Speaker 5: they're discussing going to nine games. A few years back,
- 29:11Speaker 5: it was gonna be a ten year rolling average. Who
- 29:14Speaker 5: should Arkansas play? I mean, obviously Texas you got to
- 29:17Speaker 5: put on there. You've got to probably keep one of
- 29:19Speaker 5: the quote unquote trophy games, which is Missouri and LSU.
- 29:23Speaker 5: I would be inclined to believe that it'll end up
- 29:25Speaker 5: being Miszou because LSU is going to want to have
- 29:28Speaker 5: a more of a permanent rivalry game against obviously Old
- 29:31Speaker 5: miss with a Magnolia ball, and then also Texas A
- 29:33Speaker 5: and M, which has been a big ratings grab for
- 29:35Speaker 5: the SEC here of late. And who that third opponent
- 29:39Speaker 5: would be for Arkansas depends on who you kind of
- 29:41Speaker 5: really talk to, but it probably might end up being
- 29:44Speaker 5: Old miss You know, we'll see. But what they try
- 29:47Speaker 5: to do is if you have a big rivalry game
- 29:49Speaker 5: and they're a top tier team, they try to give
- 29:52Speaker 5: you a team in the middle and then team near
- 29:53Speaker 5: the bottom. They try to make it all average out
- 29:55Speaker 5: to where your average schedule strength judged by those sixteen
- 30:00Speaker 5: team ranking is about number eight. Right some programs, I'm
- 30:04Speaker 5: not gonna be able to have that satisfaction because like Texas,
- 30:07Speaker 5: I mean their three rivals are Arkansas, Texas and Texas,
- 30:11Speaker 5: A and M and you know, excuse me, and Texas
- 30:14Speaker 5: is oh you excuse me? You know O you and
- 30:17Speaker 5: A and M is always probably gonna be in the
- 30:18Speaker 5: top half of the conference. So that makes it difficult
- 30:20Speaker 5: for them. Alabama for that matter, heck, Georgia, Georgia's permanent
- 30:25Speaker 5: rivals being Florida and Auburn. I've had some of Auburn
- 30:29Speaker 5: fans going, we want their three permanent rivals to be
- 30:32Speaker 5: what it used to be back in the early nineties,
- 30:33Speaker 5: which was Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. But goodness gracious, that's
- 30:38Speaker 5: supremely difficult, just based off of what you are accustomed
- 30:41Speaker 5: to seeing with them. But the good news is, I
- 30:45Speaker 5: don't think the three permanent rivalry thing is a big
- 30:48Speaker 5: deal because you're gonna have six other teams on the
- 30:51Speaker 5: schedule every year, and you're gonna play every team in
- 30:53Speaker 5: the in the conference. Based off of that, like every
- 30:57Speaker 5: every two four years in a four year old in average,
- 31:00Speaker 5: you're gonna play every team in the SEC. So you're
- 31:04Speaker 5: just gonna have some seasons they're gonna be more difficult
- 31:06Speaker 5: than others, and you're gonna have some that are that
- 31:07Speaker 5: are easier, and it's not necessarily because of those three
- 31:09Speaker 5: permanent rivals. It can depend on how those teams rotate
- 31:12Speaker 5: on the six and six.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I have a worst case scenario that Tennessee gets Kentucky
- 31:16Speaker 1: and Vanderbilt, both, which they probably should.
- 31:19Speaker 2: That sucks. They shouldn't get those two teams. Nobody should
- 31:22Speaker 2: get those two teams together.
- 31:23Speaker 5: I don't think they'll get Kentucky. I think they'll get
- 31:25Speaker 5: Vandy just because of the quote unquote in state stuff.
- 31:29Speaker 5: But I don't think they'll get Kentucky. I think Kentucky's
- 31:31Speaker 5: gonna get matched up a lot potentially with the three
- 31:35Speaker 5: just base offers. Also on previous scheduling things South Carolina
- 31:39Speaker 5: Mississippi State, for example, because Kentucky does not have a
- 31:42Speaker 5: rival in the SEC, their only rival out of the
- 31:45Speaker 5: courses in the ACC and Louisville. I don't think there's
- 31:48Speaker 5: going to be a schedule where you look at and go,
- 31:50Speaker 5: oh my gosh, their three rivals are so easy. I
- 31:53Speaker 5: think it's gona the opposite. You're gonna look at two
- 31:54Speaker 5: or three teams go wow, those are supremely difficult, whereas
- 31:58Speaker 5: everybody else is going to be pretty comparable.
- 32:00Speaker 1: All right, final question, my assumption is, and you may
- 32:03Speaker 1: not have, but my assumption is you watched any given
- 32:05Speaker 1: Saturday or on Netflix the SEC show.
- 32:09Speaker 6: No, you did it.
- 32:11Speaker 2: So here's what I thought.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I thought, Either you're like me where I avoid all
- 32:16Speaker 1: music when I'm not working in music, like I avoid
- 32:18Speaker 1: all music. And I didn't watch it at all for
- 32:20Speaker 1: weeks because I didn't want to like teams I.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Don't like like mine was all.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I don't want to watch a coach or a team
- 32:26Speaker 1: or a fan base I can't stand and find myself
- 32:29Speaker 1: pulling for them. And I decided I wasn't gonna watch it,
- 32:32Speaker 1: didn't want to be involved in it. My father in law,
- 32:33Speaker 1: massive ou fan, was over and we would get one
- 32:36Speaker 1: on a vacation to like East Tennessee, and we're like, well,
- 32:38Speaker 1: what do we do?
- 32:40Speaker 2: And we turned it on.
- 32:41Speaker 6: It was great.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I didn't plan to watch it. Yeah, I loved it.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I didn't want to love it. I wanted to not
- 32:47Speaker 1: like it and not watch it. After the first episode,
- 32:50Speaker 1: I came away, since you this is not your opinion.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I came on liking Brian Kelly way less than I
- 32:54Speaker 1: already liked him, and I didn't like him much to
- 32:56Speaker 1: begin with. Have you spend any time around him?
- 32:58Speaker 2: And is he just cold?
- 33:00Speaker 5: He's cold. He is a cold guy. It is what
- 33:03Speaker 5: it is. Everybody's different, but he's definitely a cold guy.
- 33:06Speaker 5: I don't watched the documentary, but he's just he tries
- 33:09Speaker 5: to turn it on and even then it's like trying
- 33:11Speaker 5: to start a start an old car in the winter,
- 33:14Speaker 5: cold in the morning. It's just this chuck. You're like, dude,
- 33:18Speaker 5: that's not you. But that's good to hear. It's good.
- 33:21Speaker 5: I just I've been one. I'm so busy, I say,
- 33:24Speaker 5: I'm so abu I can't watch it. I'm actually watching
- 33:26Speaker 5: the Dallas Cowboys one right now on Netflix. I'm really
- 33:29Speaker 5: enjoying that. And I just I didn't want to do
- 33:32Speaker 5: the SEC one because I thought I wasn't it produced
- 33:34Speaker 5: by the SEC. So like whenever I see someone that
- 33:36Speaker 5: like they have a big stake in it and they're
- 33:39Speaker 5: like they can edit things in and are out or whatever,
- 33:41Speaker 5: So I'm always hesitant to look into that stuff, especially
- 33:44Speaker 5: like because all these schools have these amazing like in
- 33:47Speaker 5: house video productions. Now they do their own documentaries, and
- 33:50Speaker 5: I don't watch them all because they're they're gonna cut
- 33:53Speaker 5: stuff out that might be controversial, but I guess the
- 33:57Speaker 5: sec one they leave some stuff in they do.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you who I would like to play for.
- 34:01Speaker 2: By the way, I wish I could just play, like
- 34:02Speaker 2: I alwish I was good enough to play.
- 34:04Speaker 1: But by watching this, who I want to play for.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Number one is freaking Clark Lee at Vanderbilt. Like if
- 34:09Speaker 1: you put a wall up and he goes go, I'm
- 34:11Speaker 1: running through it. And I already felt like I really
- 34:13Speaker 1: liked him anyway, because I got a chance to know
- 34:15Speaker 1: him when I was touring. He came out and did
- 34:17Speaker 1: a show with me, Like I like him as a person,
- 34:18Speaker 1: but watching him and his interactions and how he works
- 34:22Speaker 1: with that team, his vein pops out in his head
- 34:24Speaker 1: like that dude is intense.
- 34:26Speaker 5: Yeah. I remember I was at a coaches convention. He
- 34:28Speaker 5: was giving a big speech in front of all the coaches,
- 34:30Speaker 5: and he had a slide show up and he was
- 34:32Speaker 5: showing pictures of a certain NFL team that used their
- 34:36Speaker 5: facilities at Vanderbilt during the playoffs to practice, and they
- 34:42Speaker 5: pretty much wrecked Vanderbilt's locker room. Didn't clean up after
- 34:46Speaker 5: themselves or whatever, and he showed the pictures of it
- 34:49Speaker 5: and what the way Clark Lee reacted to it and
- 34:52Speaker 5: telling the players about how he goes see this, they
- 34:54Speaker 5: don't even respect you, and no one respects you. No
- 34:56Speaker 5: one respects Vanderbilt. You know what we you going to
- 34:58Speaker 5: do about it? And obviously I'm surmising and putting everything
- 35:03Speaker 5: together there, but the way he put it across showing
- 35:05Speaker 5: that picture is phenomenal. I mean, this guy is the
- 35:08Speaker 5: ultimate I want to say motivated. He's also the ultimate
- 35:10Speaker 5: like tactician and building things. He's a type of guy
- 35:13Speaker 5: like if I had a new company and he met
- 35:16Speaker 5: handling millions of dollars and everything. He's someone that I
- 35:19Speaker 5: would not be reluctant to hire to lead that.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he was awesome.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I think my favorite coach, just like as a person
- 35:26Speaker 1: is probably Shane Beemer because he's aught again. Have been
- 35:31Speaker 1: able to spend some time with him, been very fortunate.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I love him as a dude and then watch him him.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Your thoughts on Shane Biemer.
- 35:36Speaker 5: Yeah, he's authentic. I'm exactly exactly the same way. I've
- 35:39Speaker 5: spent a couple of days around him. I went down
- 35:42Speaker 5: and over there in Colombia and then spent an entire
- 35:44Speaker 5: day with him, followed him everywhere. I was standing outside
- 35:47Speaker 5: the bathroom even I was following him waiting for him
- 35:50Speaker 5: to come out. I mean, he's fantastic. And then you
- 35:53Speaker 5: know the stories you hear from him about growing up
- 35:55Speaker 5: around his dad and wanting to be a coach because
- 35:58Speaker 5: his father. And then you see him on the field
- 36:00Speaker 5: during games he's got his son with him just so
- 36:02Speaker 5: he makes sure his son can enjoy the big moments
- 36:04Speaker 5: with him, just like he did with his dad. I mean,
- 36:06Speaker 5: it's all genuine. He's not like trying to get on
- 36:08Speaker 5: camera or anything. The guy when the camera's off, he'll
- 36:11Speaker 5: sit there and talk to you forever. It doesn't matter
- 36:13Speaker 5: who you are. I saw him doing it at a
- 36:15Speaker 5: practice once, talking to someone that was just they're visiting
- 36:18Speaker 5: with some family member, asking about on what they do.
- 36:21Speaker 5: I mean, there are a lot of people like that
- 36:23Speaker 5: in this world, but not a lot of them that
- 36:25Speaker 5: are you know, head coaches or people that have fifty
- 36:27Speaker 5: thousand people tugging them different ways every day.
- 36:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:30Speaker 1: And then the last one that I have interest in
- 36:33Speaker 1: now and then we can wrap this is Jeff Leby
- 36:35Speaker 1: Atsissippi State, which I didn't know much about him other
- 36:38Speaker 1: than my family's from Oklahoma. He went to Oklahoma, came
- 36:40Speaker 1: back to Oklahoma and was a coordinator before also has
- 36:44Speaker 1: bounced around a bit and his growth, but went to
- 36:47Speaker 1: Mississippi State. Like, I like the dude from watching this,
- 36:49Speaker 1: but I don't know enough about him. What are your
- 36:51Speaker 1: thoughts on him?
- 36:51Speaker 5: I don't know anything about him either, Yeah, I don't.
- 36:54Speaker 5: I haven't spent any time around him. He was at
- 36:57Speaker 5: Ou for not very long. Actually, he's more or less
- 37:01Speaker 5: and he's from that Art Brill's tree with Kendall Briles
- 37:05Speaker 5: is where at Baylor. The first I ever heard his
- 37:08Speaker 5: name come up was actually with some type of actually
- 37:12Speaker 5: some sideline scandal. He was at someone else's game on
- 37:14Speaker 5: the sideline and they're like, you can't be here, are
- 37:17Speaker 5: you scouting? It's the rules. It was almost like a
- 37:20Speaker 5: mini Michigan thing or whatever. And he got a little
- 37:23Speaker 5: hot water over that. You know, that Brill Circle, especially
- 37:28Speaker 5: just with coaching, just coaching, like their offense and the
- 37:31Speaker 5: raid they do things like no one like there's like
- 37:33Speaker 5: maybe eight people on earth who actually know what that
- 37:36Speaker 5: playbook looks like because it keeps such a tight circle,
- 37:39Speaker 5: Like you don't see them at coaching clinics, going here's
- 37:41Speaker 5: my playbook, guys, here's some good things that we're on.
- 37:43Speaker 5: Here's some ideas. They don't do that. They're very secretive
- 37:46Speaker 5: about that stuff, and I don't know. Maybe that's why
- 37:48Speaker 5: I haven't really got to know him. But he's only
- 37:49Speaker 5: been there for a year and a half.
- 37:50Speaker 1: So we'll see, all right, Brandon Marcelo follow him on
- 37:52Speaker 1: Instagram at Brandon Marcelo killing it right now. Just feel
- 37:57Speaker 1: fortunate when we get you on now that you're growing,

- 38:03Speaker 1: in we knew you in Brandon.

- 39:47Speaker 1: Have this list of the top ten hardest positions in sports. Okay,
- 39:52Speaker 1: so they factor in all sports major sports, football, baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, golf.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I guess golf doesn't have positions.
- 40:04Speaker 6: No, you're just a player.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Yeah, So what I have here is the top ten
- 40:07Speaker 1: hardest positions in sports. Kevin and Eddie, we'll take turns,
- 40:15Speaker 1: and the higher up the list, and more points you get. Okay, Kevin,
- 40:19Speaker 1: quarterback quarterback comes in. So here's what we'll do. The
- 40:22Speaker 1: person with the least amount of points wins. It'll be
- 40:25Speaker 1: like golf.
- 40:26Speaker 8: Because number one gets the lowest money points.
- 40:28Speaker 6: Right, I got it.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Okay, what do you say?
- 40:30Speaker 8: Quarterback?
- 40:31Speaker 1: Quarterback comes in at number six, So Kevin with six points?
- 40:36Speaker 6: Okay, I'm gonna go goalie.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Goalie in soccer at number three, good one, Eddie with
- 40:47Speaker 1: three points, okay, Kevin, corner.
- 40:51Speaker 6: Back tough position, Yes, it is.
- 40:55Speaker 1: It is tough. Hard's the hardest I know, because you're
- 40:57Speaker 1: having a judge and guess what another supreme athletes.
- 41:01Speaker 6: Doing in front of you, and you're kind of running backwards.
- 41:03Speaker 6: He's got the advantage.
- 41:05Speaker 8: It's especially these days and the rules and stuff.
- 41:07Speaker 1: And also when people are like, oh, you play cornerback
- 41:09Speaker 1: and somebody else here's it and thinks you're a quarterback
- 41:10Speaker 1: and to be like, no corner it's also like a
- 41:15Speaker 1: slight Yeah, cornerback at number five, tough list. So we
- 41:22Speaker 1: have goalkeeper, socker quarterback in cornerback five and six. Aie.
- 41:29Speaker 6: I'm gonna go with the picture in baseball.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Picture makes the list. Picture comes in at number eight,
- 41:39Speaker 1: so it's even right now. Eleven to Eleven's go.
- 41:42Speaker 8: Hey, now I'm gonna say goalie in hockey number two.
- 41:46Speaker 6: Wow, the job big one.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Five still up on the board, Eddie.
- 41:53Speaker 6: I'm gonna go with the big man position in basketball,
- 41:55Speaker 6: the center. It's a lot to cover that paint. Man,
- 41:59Speaker 6: It's tough.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Bobby's you know, you look left.
- 42:04Speaker 6: You look right. Oh no, I I get the rebound.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Didn't make the didn't make the list. So that's one strike.
- 42:12Speaker 1: H three xes though you lose, Kevin over to you.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna go catcher baseball, catcher number one. Maybe that's so.
- 42:21Speaker 6: Hard about catcher, Dude, you got to call the game.
- 42:26Speaker 1: You gotta always be.
- 42:27Speaker 6: They got it down, they got little ear things. Now, little.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Kevin, I don't know that you can be beat ye
- 42:36Speaker 1: at this point, maybe anybody you have. So we have
- 42:38Speaker 1: catcher at one the hardest positions in sports, the hockey
- 42:42Speaker 1: goalie at two, the goalkeeper in soccer at three, cornerback
- 42:47Speaker 1: at five, quarterback at six, pitcher at eight, first baseman.
- 42:54Speaker 1: That's the easiest position in the end, coming at the
- 42:58Speaker 1: best hitter who can't really play in film. Okay, correct,
- 43:01Speaker 1: two strikes, Kevin. I'm gonna go point guard number nine.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Point right, there you go. It's the easiest, Eddie. One more, Oh,
- 43:14Speaker 1: I got it. Go ahead.
- 43:16Speaker 6: When I said center, I meant the center in football.
- 43:19Speaker 6: God's brutal, dude. You start looking down and then you
- 43:21Speaker 6: gotta look up.
- 43:21Speaker 9: Bro.
- 43:22Speaker 1: It's a good one, actually, though incorrect, Eddie, you've been eliminated.
- 43:28Speaker 1: There are one, two, three things left. Kevin, you've already
- 43:34Speaker 1: won the game. But let's se how when you can
- 43:35Speaker 1: get into the three left? You haven't missed anything. So catcher, goalie, goalie,
- 43:39Speaker 1: corner of quarterback, pitcher, point guard. I don't really know
- 43:43Speaker 1: any somebody said picture.
- 43:44Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, I said picture, Yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Easy, buddy, one of the two you got?
- 43:49Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna take a shot here in soccer
- 43:52Speaker 8: and just say.
- 43:53Speaker 6: Midfielder, what's so hard about that?
- 43:55Speaker 8: I don't even know. I just know it's position.
- 43:57Speaker 6: They do not run NonStop, NonStop.
- 44:01Speaker 1: No, it didn't make it okay. You should have two
- 44:03Speaker 1: strikes to play with.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Centerfielder.
- 44:10Speaker 1: No, I think I know it. If you're out, if
- 44:13Speaker 1: he's not out, he's got one. More so the Brandon,
- 44:16Speaker 1: The hardest one is four. There's four, seven and ten left.
- 44:25Speaker 8: Let's keep baseball here. Let's say third baseman.
- 44:27Speaker 6: No, it's gonna go around the diamond.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Yeah no, didn't you did win though graduation?
- 44:33Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 44:34Speaker 8: I think I lost.
- 44:38Speaker 1: It felt like a win.
- 44:39Speaker 6: You only get two, That's what I'm saying. Like it
- 44:40Speaker 6: wasn't really much of a match, Brandon, What.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Do you think I was gonna say? Third baseman? No, shortstop, okay,
- 44:46Speaker 1: short stop, short stopper, third basement, No, you can't do
- 44:49Speaker 1: or or.
- 44:51Speaker 8: No, the same position basically somewhere in the middlefield or something.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Okay, you have two left, you have seven and ten?
- 44:58Speaker 1: Uh ten is probably not something I would have ever
- 45:00Speaker 1: guessed in a million years. It is from hockey, though,
- 45:03Speaker 1: oh the enforcer, the defender, and I don't know that
- 45:06Speaker 1: I would have ever even guessed that was a position,
- 45:08Speaker 1: because I know we have skaters, we have stickers, golders,
- 45:12Speaker 1: that's it, and fighters.
- 45:14Speaker 6: Four positions pretty much.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Yeah, not a big hockey guy. There's one position left.
- 45:18Speaker 1: It's number seven one one position in sports. It's a
- 45:21Speaker 1: football position.
- 45:24Speaker 8: Anybody guess safety, kicker.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Anything, mister Brandon, defensive end all wrong, or even the
- 45:36Speaker 1: kickers all wrong, even the kicker, you can't believe it.
- 45:42Speaker 6: High pressure position, running back mm hmmy the punter.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Now, you can all take turns till somebody gets it.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Left tackle correct, That's that's what I meant.
- 45:54Speaker 6: Why Why is that harder than the right tackle?
- 45:56Speaker 1: You gotta protect the quarterbacks blind side.
- 45:58Speaker 6: Maybe he's a if he's a lefty, no, what if if?
- 46:03Speaker 8: It's okay, right tackle, But generally speaking, you got Dylan
- 46:07Speaker 8: Gabriel back there.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, that's why that position is so important.
- 46:13Speaker 6: I learned something today. What did you learn that that
- 46:16Speaker 6: the right tackle is very important.
- 46:17Speaker 1: There's this whole article about what happens to your body
- 46:20Speaker 1: if you don't go to sleep, which I find fascinating
- 46:23Speaker 1: because I have this unhealthy relationship with sleep. And so
- 46:27Speaker 1: here we go. This doctor, doctor Michael Gardner, has laid
- 46:31Speaker 1: out what can happen to your body after a prolong
- 46:33Speaker 1: lack of sleep twenty four hours. I think we've probably
- 46:35Speaker 1: all done that. Yeah, as a kid and even occasionally
- 46:38Speaker 1: as an adult, either you party or you work, and
- 46:41Speaker 1: it's like, well, I can't go to sleep, might as
- 46:42Speaker 1: well stay awake twenty four hours. Cognitive impairment and reduced
- 46:46Speaker 1: reaction time can set in, similar to having a blood
- 46:49Speaker 1: alcohol level of point zero one. So point zero eight
- 46:53Speaker 1: is what you get busted for the UIDWI. But a
- 46:57Speaker 1: question for you guys. If you go to Vegas and
- 46:59Speaker 1: let's say you stay out till two or three four
- 47:01Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning and you have a six o'clock flight,
- 47:03Speaker 1: do you try to get a couple of hours sleep
- 47:04Speaker 1: or do you just roll it and Stay up.
- 47:05Speaker 8: Kevin, Stay up, especially in Vegas, because because what's the
- 47:12Speaker 8: point at that point, Like you have stuff to do?
- 47:14Speaker 8: If you're in like some random city somewhere else and
- 47:16Speaker 8: you're like, well do I just sit here in the
- 47:18Speaker 8: hotel room? I have nothing to do? But in Vegas
- 47:20Speaker 8: you can sell the tables, you can go to a club,
- 47:21Speaker 8: you can do all kinds of stuff in Vegas to
- 47:23Speaker 8: keep you up.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Okay, Eddie, what would you do?
- 47:26Speaker 6: Stay up? I've been burned too many times where like
- 47:29Speaker 6: I'm like, I'm just gonna take a two hour nap
- 47:30Speaker 6: and I and I missed my flight.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yep, Oh, I don't think I don't want drink myself.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I've never missed a flight, dude.
- 47:35Speaker 6: It's it's the worst feeling of like just two hours.
- 47:39Speaker 6: It's never. You're never. If you are drinking all night
- 47:42Speaker 6: and you go to bed at three, you're not just
- 47:43Speaker 6: gonna get two hours of sleep. You're gonna get ten.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I think it's no surprise. Then I get a couple
- 47:49Speaker 1: of hours.
- 47:49Speaker 6: Sleep because you weren't drinking.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Yeah, And I'm just like I got a couple hours.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I'm as well get a couple and then I can sleep.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Also on the plane. M hm, So I would always
- 47:57Speaker 1: get that couple of hours. If I can get it,
- 48:00Speaker 1: what do you do? I'd probably stay up. But I
- 48:03Speaker 1: haven't been to Vegas in a while, so I usually
- 48:06Speaker 1: i'd be in bed by nine. Not part of the equation.
- 48:09Speaker 6: Yeah, stay up.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 8: I did this in Toronto once, where I went to
- 48:15Speaker 8: bed at three in the morning, had to get up
- 48:16Speaker 8: a finer National traveler.
- 48:17Speaker 1: No, I believe, You'll never believe what I do.
- 48:23Speaker 8: Go ahead, And I woke up still like wasted, felt
- 48:26Speaker 8: like I didn't even drink or sleep in a minute.
- 48:29Speaker 8: And I threw up five times on the plane rightt home.
- 48:31Speaker 8: It was the worst flight of my life. So that's
- 48:33Speaker 8: also why I probably would stay up.
- 48:35Speaker 1: You threw up five five times? Is that common? If
- 48:37Speaker 1: you're throwing up, it's a lot. I thought it was
- 48:39Speaker 1: just once if you like throw it.
- 48:39Speaker 8: Because I mean, if you're that hungover and you're that sick.
- 48:42Speaker 8: It was like my fourth day of drinking straight.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Too, so it all factor that'll do. But you are
- 48:46Speaker 1: you okay?
- 48:48Speaker 5: No?
- 48:49Speaker 6: You ever heard of Hair of the Dog?
- 48:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so like in many ways, yeah, so.
- 48:53Speaker 6: Hair of the Dog drinking is just like you know
- 48:55Speaker 6: what I feel like terrible, But I'm just gonna keep
- 48:57Speaker 6: drinking so I don't have a hangover. Yeah, and you
- 48:58Speaker 6: keep doing that, like I been saying four days in
- 49:00Speaker 6: a row, dude, that you do that, it bites you
- 49:03Speaker 6: in the butt.
- 49:03Speaker 8: And then your body just detoss it detoxes itself like
- 49:07Speaker 8: it wants to get everything out of you. So just
- 49:08Speaker 8: throws it all up for you.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Hmm. Hair of the dog can be used in a
- 49:12Speaker 1: bunch of ways, but I feel.
- 49:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I've only used in that drinking. Hey boy, screw it,
- 49:16Speaker 6: ha ha.
- 49:16Speaker 8: Yeah, what's another way?
- 49:17Speaker 6: Actually, I don't know.
- 49:18Speaker 1: Really, it's if anything's happening. Uh, let's see. Let me
- 49:23Speaker 1: that's my sister. Oh see what she says, because I've
- 49:26Speaker 1: often said use that, which mean just do more of it.
- 49:29Speaker 1: If you're hurting from not doing it anymore, just do
- 49:32Speaker 1: more of it to kind of raise your back, get
- 49:33Speaker 1: you back in.
- 49:34Speaker 6: Okay, you can do that working out then, I guess right.
- 49:37Speaker 1: So for so well, now for soreness, it's like I'm
- 49:40Speaker 1: super sore. Let me get a little hair of the dog,
- 49:42Speaker 1: get back in and do it. Do some squats, kind
- 49:43Speaker 1: of get into a little bit. That's a good example.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I couldn't really think of one after I said, I
- 49:48Speaker 1: so that screwed. I would do this secon story anyway.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Thirty six to forty eight hours of no sleep? Anyone
- 49:53Speaker 1: ever been that long without sleep? Have you ever done
- 49:56Speaker 1: two full days?
- 49:58Speaker 6: No?
- 49:59Speaker 1: I don't think I have either. No, never two full days.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Physical and cognitive performance continues to slump. You might even
- 50:05Speaker 1: experience micro sleeps, which means you don't mean to fall asleep,
- 50:10Speaker 1: and you're not physically falling asleep, except there are these
- 50:12Speaker 1: brief periods where you don't even realize you're asleep. I
- 50:14Speaker 1: think Casey has that right now. Whoa seventy two hours
- 50:23Speaker 1: Hallucinizations can escalate to extreme paranoia, and long term complications
- 50:27Speaker 1: could be on the horizon. Whoa horizon three days of
- 50:31Speaker 1: not sleeping you It would be fun to hallucinate if
- 50:35Speaker 1: you could somehow snap out of them, meaning, okay, I
- 50:40Speaker 1: will do this to myself. I'll hallucinate LSD like something
- 50:42Speaker 1: like a drug like that which I don't know. Do
- 50:44Speaker 1: you ever do that while youre in Toronto?
- 50:46Speaker 8: N in Toronto?
- 50:47Speaker 1: Okay? Where it's like that would be interesting. It's fun
- 50:50Speaker 1: to try if for some reason you can just like
- 50:52Speaker 1: shock yourself and get out of it immediately once to
- 50:54Speaker 1: start it did not feel safe, but it feels like
- 50:56Speaker 1: those when you hallucinate. You really have no control when
- 50:59Speaker 1: you're gonna.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Get back no way. Yeah, in that like when sailors
- 51:03Speaker 6: say they saw mermaids.
- 51:05Speaker 1: That's just because they've been out.
- 51:06Speaker 6: Yeah, sure, never they were lost at sea, Yeah, freaking
- 51:09Speaker 6: out or in the desert.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Yeah, like the mirage. No, no, ninety six hours or more.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Your memory could start resembling that if someone who has
- 51:20Speaker 1: Alzheimer's and your perception reality could be distorted into something
- 51:23Speaker 1: resembling psychosis. And then I think you just.
- 51:26Speaker 6: Die if you were if you were lost in like
- 51:28Speaker 6: in the desert. Do you think you would sleep?
- 51:31Speaker 1: Ever lost?
- 51:33Speaker 6: You may not ever get found. You think you're gonna die?
- 51:36Speaker 6: Would you sleep?
- 51:37Speaker 1: Probably? Because because I think, are you asking would my
- 51:40Speaker 1: body allow me to or what I want to know?
- 51:42Speaker 6: Would you want to Yes?
- 51:43Speaker 1: Because I would need to recharge in order to keep going.
- 51:47Speaker 1: You have a limited time of being able to go
- 51:49Speaker 1: until your body needs sleep. And sure I may never
- 51:52Speaker 1: but I'm gonna need that recharge in order to keep trying.
- 51:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd be like it's the best part, Like I'm
- 51:58Speaker 6: just gonna sleep, man, They're not gonna find me anyway.
- 52:00Speaker 1: It's the best part.
- 52:01Speaker 6: I'm just gonna fall asleep.
- 52:02Speaker 3: Is there any other good favorite part about being lost
- 52:05Speaker 3: in the desert.
- 52:05Speaker 6: I love sleep so much. They would be like, I'm
- 52:07Speaker 6: just gonna sleep, like they're not gonna find me anyway.
- 52:09Speaker 6: And if I die, I die.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I don't think that would be the case. They it'd
- 52:12Speaker 1: be hard to sleep if you think you might die. Also,
- 52:14Speaker 1: in the desert, what may come and get you. There's
- 52:17Speaker 1: not a lot of like organic matter out there. You know,
- 52:19Speaker 1: we'll wear wolves.
- 52:21Speaker 6: Those are real side sidewinder snakes well.
- 52:23Speaker 1: And also if I'm having looten to hallucinations, hallucinations, yeah,
- 52:29Speaker 1: the were wolves. Now, yes, Mike. What was the story
- 52:36Speaker 1: about the guy who live streamed and he died? Do
- 52:38Speaker 1: you ever see that?
- 52:39Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 52:39Speaker 1: It was like I can ask my assistant, but he
- 52:42Speaker 1: like live streamed so long just stay awake and ended
- 52:45Speaker 1: up dying on the live stream. I'm pretty sure unless
- 52:47Speaker 1: that's urban legend. Sometimes I've been caught up urban legend.
- 52:50Speaker 6: Sure, people talk.
- 52:51Speaker 7: I think if the urban legend was correc because Heartlet
- 52:54Speaker 7: gave out.
- 52:54Speaker 1: What's the story of the person who stayed up a
- 52:57Speaker 1: long time, as in didn't sleep and he was on
- 52:59Speaker 1: a live stream and died.
- 53:01Speaker 9: Yeah, so that story actually kind of a cautionary tale
- 53:05Speaker 9: that's been teared around a lot. The person you might
- 53:08Speaker 9: be thinking of is tied to a sort of internet legend.
- 53:10Speaker 9: There have been a few different stories, but probably the
- 53:13Speaker 9: most known one is about a guy who tried to
- 53:14Speaker 9: break a record for staying awake and was live streaming
- 53:17Speaker 9: it and then he ended up passing away from what
- 53:20Speaker 9: was essentially sleep deprivation and strain it put on his
- 53:23Speaker 9: heart and body. It's a bit of an urban myth
- 53:25Speaker 9: in some wheres because there are a few versions of
- 53:27Speaker 9: the story floating around, but the core idea is going
- 53:30Speaker 9: with how it's sleep for extreme lengths of time, it
- 53:32Speaker 9: is really dangerous, and it's one of those stories that
- 53:34Speaker 9: kind of circulates as a warning. So it's definitely a
- 53:37Speaker 9: bit of a dark tail.
- 53:38Speaker 1: What do you think or what has been the urban
- 53:41Speaker 1: legend on the amount of hours he stayed awake?
- 53:43Speaker 9: Yeah, so the legend usually goes that he stayed awake
- 53:46Speaker 9: for something like eleven days straight, so around two hundred
- 53:50Speaker 9: and sixty to two hundred and seventy hours, which is
- 53:52Speaker 9: kind of the classic number that floats around.
- 53:54Speaker 2: It's actually a.
- 53:54Speaker 9: Number that's kind of based on a real record attempt
- 53:56Speaker 9: by someone named Randy Gardner back in the nineteen sixties
- 54:00Speaker 9: who actually did a wood for a love is as
- 54:01Speaker 9: part of a science experiment. But in the urban legend
- 54:04Speaker 9: version it's more dramatic and it ends tragically because he
- 54:07Speaker 9: was live streaming and never select and then passed away.
- 54:10Speaker 9: But yeah, the number that usually gets thrown around is
- 54:12Speaker 9: about eleveed A's what you do is.
- 54:16Speaker 1: You have a twin nice switching out. You switch them.
- 54:20Speaker 6: Out how on the live stream, like I'm gonna go
- 54:22Speaker 6: to the restroom real quick.
- 54:23Speaker 1: You fall down, and then all of a sudden they
- 54:25Speaker 1: come out. They come out of the floor.
- 54:27Speaker 6: Sorry I swiped.
- 54:28Speaker 8: I got twins.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we do it.
- 54:32Speaker 6: One's a boy and one's a girl.
- 54:33Speaker 8: We'll never know.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Dress them the same. Keep those babies up for days.
