- 0:26Speaker 1: Welcome to opposition territory here at the Philadelphia sports table
- 0:28Speaker 1: podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show
- 0:31Speaker 1: in the world over 13 and a half years strong.
- 0:35Speaker 1: As always, we've got a great show coming your way
- 0:37Speaker 1: here on opposition territory. As we preview this week five matchup,
- 0:42Speaker 1: the upcoming matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars
- 0:46Speaker 1: over in England. My gosh, we're going to have to
- 0:49Speaker 1: watch this at 9 30 AM Eastern time on this
- 0:53Speaker 1: coming Sunday and joining us this week. We've had him
- 0:57Speaker 1: on the show before. Absolutely love him. Great content. We
- 1:02Speaker 1: love our SB nation sites. You can find him over
- 1:05Speaker 1: at a big cat country.com. And also I believe he
- 1:10Speaker 1: does the Duval dive podcast, a former university of central
- 1:15Speaker 1: Florida cornerback, our friend, Travis Holmes. How you doing buddy?
- 1:20Speaker 2: I mean, Jaguars are three and one, so I'm doing
- 1:23Speaker 2: really well.
- 1:25Speaker 1: 3-1. Yes, great. Things started here. Look, I'm viewing the
- 1:30Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars as a team here in the NFL that
- 1:32Speaker 1: is basically on a roll when I look at the
- 1:36Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles and what they have done. So yes, Jacksonville Jaguars,
- 1:40Speaker 1: like you said, 3-1 this season. One of the top
- 1:44Speaker 1: teams in the AFC trying to get to that next echelon.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And as we talked about earlier this year when we
- 1:51Speaker 1: had John, trying to get back to not only the playoffs,
- 1:54Speaker 1: but to take that next step perhaps Super Bowl bound
- 1:58Speaker 1: we don't know yet we're heading into week five but
- 2:00Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles two and two on the season they
- 2:04Speaker 1: seem absolutely lost on offense they have no offensive identity
- 2:09Speaker 1: and as of us recording this two of the starting
- 2:13Speaker 1: offensive linemen on this team to start the season are
- 2:16Speaker 1: no longer here Cam Juergens being traded to the Baltimore
- 2:19Speaker 1: Ravens Lane Johnson retiring. There's just a ton of questions
- 2:23Speaker 1: heading into week five with regard to the Philadelphia Eagles,
- 2:27Speaker 1: all the injuries that they have sustained the past couple
- 2:30Speaker 1: of weeks on offense and defense. It's exhausting. It's exhausting here. Travis,
- 2:36Speaker 1: how do you see the Jaguars really trying to take
- 2:38Speaker 1: advantage of an Eagles team that is quite frankly floundering
- 2:42Speaker 1: at the moment?
- 2:43Speaker 3: This is fun because you feel like you feel like
- 2:47Speaker 3: the team's floundering and you're not wrong to have that
- 2:49Speaker 3: thought process. Obviously, with the midseason, midweek retirement, that's not common.
- 2:57Speaker 3: And then in that same week, they end up trading
- 2:59Speaker 3: a multiple time Pro Bowl.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I believe it was two time Pro Bowl.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Yes, two time Pro Bowl.
- 3:04Speaker 2: And I'm like, all right, that's that's big.
- 3:07Speaker 3: That's, again, not generally normal combined with both of those
- 3:11Speaker 3: things happening at the same time. And you're looking at
- 3:13Speaker 3: the fact that you have to have three of your
- 3:15Speaker 3: week one starting offensive linemen not being there overall.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah. All right.
- 3:21Speaker 3: The Jaguars obviously should hopefully be able to dominate in
- 3:24Speaker 3: some ways in the trenches.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:27Speaker 3: But at the same time, you can look at this
- 3:30Speaker 3: two different ways. And that's the part that I'm kind
- 3:32Speaker 3: of just split on this. There's two ways to say one.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I think Philadelphia Eagles fans. And again, I'm not the
- 3:39Speaker 3: Philadelphia Eagles local person. But from my perspective, have known
- 3:44Speaker 3: for a while this offense has not been what it
- 3:46Speaker 3: should be.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I think that will be a reasonable starting point to
- 3:49Speaker 3: the conversation of saying even last season when this Philadelphia
- 3:53Speaker 3: Eagles team won, I believe it was 11 games. many
- 3:56Speaker 3: Philadelphia Eagles fans and media that I spoke with told
- 3:59Speaker 3: me it's just not right.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Exactly. Because they don't have that identity. That identity is
- 4:04Speaker 1: not there.
- 4:05Speaker 3: You were looking for the answer and it just wasn't,
- 4:07Speaker 3: it didn't identify, it didn't present itself. So in making
- 4:10Speaker 3: these moves, when they're making these moves, one could argue
- 4:14Speaker 3: that you're simply the first person to turn back, which,
- 4:16Speaker 3: and if you're going in the wrong direction, the first
- 4:18Speaker 3: person to turn back is actually ahead.
- 4:20Speaker 2: It's just going to be a little bit of a
- 4:21Speaker 2: painful process before realizing that. Yeah.
- 4:24Speaker 3: That's kind of what I'm wondering if this is for Philadelphia,
- 4:27Speaker 3: just to be honest.
- 4:29Speaker 2: You have a younger line.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Obviously, you're starting over a little bit, but a lot
- 4:32Speaker 3: of teams in the NFL don't have dominant lines.
- 4:35Speaker 2: With multiple pro bowlers, multiple all pros on it. And
- 4:38Speaker 2: they're doing just fine. Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 3: That's just me taking a step back from the ledge,
- 4:41Speaker 3: not having emotions attached to this, everything that's going on
- 4:44Speaker 3: in Philadelphia.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 3: So I say all that to say, as much as
- 4:48Speaker 3: folks may be down on Philly, I am still of
- 4:51Speaker 3: the mindset that the Jacksonville Jaguars probably have seven ways
- 4:54Speaker 3: out of 10 to win this football game. But in
- 4:57Speaker 3: my mind, that still means that there are three opportunities
- 4:59Speaker 3: for the Philadelphia Eagles to walk into Sunday and upset
- 5:02Speaker 3: this Jacksonville Jaguars team if they're not prepared.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I think that's very fair. I really do. I think
- 5:06Speaker 1: that's a very fair assessment because I know at the
- 5:08Speaker 1: end of the day, and we talk about it on
- 5:10Speaker 1: the Opposition Territory podcast almost every week, is that no
- 5:13Speaker 1: NFL team is perfect. There are strengths. There are weaknesses.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So let's get into those strengths and weaknesses with this
- 5:21Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars team as we're looking at this matchup against
- 5:24Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles. Let's start off with the biggest strength on
- 5:27Speaker 1: the Jaguars at this point. Travis, what is that biggest
- 5:30Speaker 1: strength and why?
- 5:31Speaker 3: Biggest strength is easily, clearly the fact that the Jacksonville
- 5:34Speaker 3: Jaguars were number one in the league and stopping the
- 5:36Speaker 3: run last year. And I believe if at the time
- 5:38Speaker 3: I'm talking to you, I believe they're number two.
- 5:40Speaker 1: They're top three for sure.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Right now.
- 5:43Speaker 3: So the fact that they're able to erase the run
- 5:47Speaker 3: game from basically since Liam Coleman has been hired, they
- 5:49Speaker 3: haven't given up 75 yards on the ground to any
- 5:51Speaker 3: individual running back.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah. The conversation there. So yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 3: That's what Jonathan Taylor Thomas, sorry, Jonathan Taylor, uh, in our,
- 5:59Speaker 3: in our division and everything. And that's just not, and
- 6:02Speaker 3: it's not happening.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I think the fact, the ability to erase a game, uh,
- 6:07Speaker 3: an entire part of a game for an opposing offense.
- 6:11Speaker 2: And then.
- 6:14Speaker 3: With that, still be able to tell you, we're not
- 6:17Speaker 3: just going to make sure you can't run the ball.
- 6:18Speaker 3: We're also going to tell you when you do pass
- 6:21Speaker 3: the ball, this is how you're going to have passed
- 6:22Speaker 3: it against us. because of how we play our coverages.
- 6:24Speaker 3: That's a different part of Anthony Campanella's defense. Most people
- 6:28Speaker 3: don't notice. You're probably not going to beat this Jacksonville
- 6:31Speaker 3: Jaguars team going deep balls down the sideline. It's just
- 6:35Speaker 3: the way that they play coverage with the umbrella over
- 6:37Speaker 3: the top, and they're not going to allow that to be.
- 6:41Speaker 3: They're going to play zone defense, play these guys back
- 6:44Speaker 3: from 30-yard line all the way down to the red zone,
- 6:47Speaker 3: and then they'll start playing man coverage only when you
- 6:49Speaker 3: get into the red zone. You get down there, which
- 6:51Speaker 3: is why they're 29th in the league um and yards
- 6:55Speaker 3: allowed per drive while also being second in the league
- 6:58Speaker 3: in points per drive because they just don't they get
- 7:01Speaker 3: into the they allow you to get to the red
- 7:03Speaker 3: zone they don't care and they're just like all right
- 7:05Speaker 3: no more and they shut the door yeah it's incredible
- 7:08Speaker 3: so that's their strength is not just their scheme and
- 7:11Speaker 3: coaching knowing who they are knowing what guys they have
- 7:13Speaker 3: but also they're going to dictate to you how the
- 7:16Speaker 3: game goes as a defense and tell you you're not
- 7:18Speaker 3: going to run the ball one And when you pass
- 7:20Speaker 3: the ball, it won't be explosive down the sidelines. Your
- 7:23Speaker 3: best opportunity may be like post routes, crosses across the
- 7:26Speaker 3: field and trying to beat guys in a foot race
- 7:28Speaker 3: in that way.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 2: They're telling you how you're going to pass it also.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Man, I'd love a poster out every now and then.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I'd love some mesh concepts every now and then. That'd
- 7:35Speaker 1: be fantastic for this Philadelphia Eagles offense. But we're talking
- 7:39Speaker 1: about the Jaguars and let's flip the coin here. Travis,
- 7:42Speaker 1: biggest weakness on this team. What do you think that
- 7:44Speaker 1: is and why?
- 7:46Speaker 2: We're probably still looking at the well, this is fun because.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I would have originally told you I would have probably
- 7:53Speaker 3: said it was going to be the defensive line, the
- 7:55Speaker 3: pass rush. And as far as that's concerned, interior defensive line,
- 7:58Speaker 3: to be clear, you got Josh Hines, Alan, you got
- 8:00Speaker 3: Trayvon Walker on the outside. Those guys have been dominant
- 8:02Speaker 3: for multiple years now. It's just a it's the Rick Armstead.
- 8:06Speaker 3: It's the Devon Hamilton kind of conversation on the interior
- 8:09Speaker 3: D line. I'm going to probably put that as my
- 8:12Speaker 3: one B. It would have been my one A at
- 8:14Speaker 3: the start of the year, but I'm putting it as
- 8:16Speaker 3: one B only because the interior Jacksonville.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Jaguars offensive line. Yeah.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Has slowly started to become an issue, especially since that
- 8:27Speaker 3: Denver Broncos game.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Bit of a liability.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I didn't think it was going to be one. You
- 8:33Speaker 3: had Robert Hainsey, who was a really good center. You
- 8:35Speaker 3: have Ezra Cleveland, who was a dominant left guard. I mean,
- 8:38Speaker 3: I would have, going into the season, said he was
- 8:40Speaker 3: the best Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman. And now, with him
- 8:44Speaker 3: switching from left guard to right guard this season, he
- 8:46Speaker 3: has been a... top two, if not top one liabilities
- 8:50Speaker 3: as far as the office of line play is concerned.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And we don't know what, is it just switching sides?
- 8:55Speaker 2: But because of that.
- 8:56Speaker 3: And knowing who we're going up against, knowing that you
- 8:59Speaker 3: guys have two monstrosities on that defensive line, that becomes
- 9:04Speaker 3: a concern, I would say, at least. So I would
- 9:06Speaker 3: say that's probably one of the bigger weaknesses and one
- 9:09Speaker 3: of the biggest opportunities, maybe even for this Philadelphia Eagles
- 9:12Speaker 3: defensive front to control this game.
- 9:14Speaker 1: All right. Well, we're talking about the defense, but I
- 9:16Speaker 1: want to shift over to the offense. And one gentleman
- 9:19Speaker 1: in particular, somebody who got a lot of scrutiny coming
- 9:22Speaker 1: out of college, his first five, couple seasons, not great.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And that is at the quarterback position. One of the
- 9:29Speaker 1: most important positions in sports, as we all know. And
- 9:32Speaker 1: the last time that you were on the show back
- 9:34Speaker 1: in May, Travis, and we talked about Trevor Lawrence taking
- 9:38Speaker 1: those next steps with his development. I'm wondering, yes, after
- 9:42Speaker 1: four weeks, it's only been four weeks, but how have
- 9:44Speaker 1: you seen his development manifest itself as we're heading into
- 9:49Speaker 1: week five here?
- 9:51Speaker 2: You're going to tell me.
- 9:54Speaker 3: There's been a lot of conversation in the media this
- 9:57Speaker 3: past week about how Joe Burrows had such a great
- 9:59Speaker 3: game and maybe even a better game than Trevor Lawrence
- 10:01Speaker 3: this past week against the Jaguars because he threw for like.
- 10:05Speaker 2: 415 yards and right. Right. For, you know, under 200.
- 10:09Speaker 3: And when I look at Trevor Lawrence development, I see
- 10:13Speaker 3: that materializing when I see that he's thrown for just
- 10:16Speaker 3: 200 yards and a touchdown, but no interceptions, no turnovers.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I see, not looking at the bot scores, but see
- 10:23Speaker 3: looking at the film, the fact that they gave up
- 10:26Speaker 3: four sacks. But I'm looking at this game and this
- 10:30Speaker 3: materially looks no different than week six last season against
- 10:35Speaker 3: the Seattle Seahawks when they gave up eight sacks. The
- 10:38Speaker 3: only difference in this game, literally the only difference in
- 10:41Speaker 3: this game, is Trevor Lawrence. Not putting the ball in
- 10:44Speaker 3: harm's way, not running around back here taking sacks. His
- 10:49Speaker 3: third step hits the ground. He's giving up the check
- 10:51Speaker 3: down to Brenton Strange. He's giving up the check down
- 10:53Speaker 3: to the running backs. And that's what actually changed this
- 10:57Speaker 3: past game for me. I said it in the postgame.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I'm like, the difference in this game was Trevor Lawrence.
- 11:02Speaker 3: And that's the offensive line. I still have concerns.
- 11:05Speaker 2: He.
- 11:05Speaker 3: It's taking those guys on their shoulders and game managing
- 11:08Speaker 3: this thing like an NFL veteran. Like he doesn't need
- 11:11Speaker 3: to be a superhero and he's OK just saying allowing
- 11:15Speaker 3: the game to come to him. That is development. That
- 11:17Speaker 3: is the growth that I was talking about.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Most importantly.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's man. It's going to be interesting to
- 11:22Speaker 1: see what he does in terms of any pass rush
- 11:25Speaker 1: that can actually get to him from the Philadelphia Eagles
- 11:27Speaker 1: because the Philadelphia Eagles pass rush has not been great either. Yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 1: we love look, I love you.
- 11:33Speaker 2: That's like 30th in the league in pressures.
- 11:35Speaker 1: If I'm not, it's crazy. It's crazy what's happening with
- 11:38Speaker 1: this team. It really is. But again, folks, we are
- 11:41Speaker 1: talking to our buddy Travis Holmes from Big Cat Country
- 11:45Speaker 1: dot com over at SB Nation Duval Dive podcast. as
- 11:49Speaker 1: well you can follow him on the twitter slash x
- 11:52Speaker 1: at travis d homes and buddy where else can folks
- 11:55Speaker 1: find you on the interwebs uh if they want to
- 11:57Speaker 1: connect with you as well if i haven't mentioned it
- 11:59Speaker 1: already i.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Mean yeah you mentioned that travis d homes on x
- 12:01Speaker 3: on blue sky on all the different socials there you
- 12:03Speaker 3: go but also the duval dive on tiktok um i'm
- 12:07Speaker 3: very active on that um from from the official you
- 12:10Speaker 3: know the duval podcast account and And I mean, yeah, Instagram,
- 12:14Speaker 3: all the places, you know, I mean, I think in
- 12:17Speaker 3: my MySpace, it might even still be out there somewhere.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Yes. I love it. We got to bring MySpace back, man.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Got to do it.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely. All right, folks, we're going to take a break.
- 12:26Speaker 1: When we get back, we're going to be continuing this
- 12:28Speaker 1: preview of the Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars matchup week five.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Stick with us. We'll be right back. All right. We
- 12:37Speaker 1: are back. Oh, sorry, buddy. You're taking a sip there.
- 12:41Speaker 1: We are back diving into this week five matchup, Philadelphia Eagles,
- 12:46Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguars over in England. Let's get into some matchups here, Travis,
- 12:51Speaker 1: because first up, look, the Eagles rushing attack and third
- 12:56Speaker 1: string running back will Shipley going up against this Jaguars
- 13:00Speaker 1: defensive front. One of the best One of the best stories,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I think, in the NFL that not too many folks
- 13:06Speaker 1: are actually talking about the dominance of this defensive line.
- 13:09Speaker 1: You'd mentioned earlier in our discussion, the Jags rank, like
- 13:14Speaker 1: you mentioned, second in the NFL rushing yards allowed 74.3
- 13:17Speaker 1: yards per game.
- 13:18Speaker 2: It's incredible.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Talk about your thoughts when it comes to this particular matchup.
- 13:27Speaker 1: We're talking trenches. And then what this Eagles rushing attack
- 13:31Speaker 1: is going to look like. And I'm thinking it's probably
- 13:33Speaker 1: going to be like 1.7 yards per carry on maybe
- 13:37Speaker 1: 20 carries here. I'm not sure, but what are your
- 13:40Speaker 1: thoughts here? That's really the one, though.
- 13:42Speaker 3: That's really the real big question because it's not to
- 13:46Speaker 3: say that because the Philadelphia Eagles have given up multiple
- 13:51Speaker 3: pro bowl and all pro level offensive linemen that they
- 13:54Speaker 3: won't still be able to run the ball. I'm not
- 13:57Speaker 3: so naive to say this because I fell into this
- 13:59Speaker 3: trap last year against that Seattle Seahawks team when that
- 14:02Speaker 3: had injuries up and down the roster in that week
- 14:05Speaker 3: six game. And they came out and did exactly what
- 14:07Speaker 3: they wanted to do in that game. So I'm just
- 14:10Speaker 3: not ready to go to the level of saying, no,
- 14:12Speaker 3: this is going to be, they'll be, they'll be fine.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Like, no, no.
- 14:16Speaker 3: I think with that, with the, Philadelphia Eagles, again, as
- 14:21Speaker 3: I said earlier, I don't know that they necessarily made
- 14:23Speaker 3: bad moves because you're talking about the Cam trade, but
- 14:29Speaker 3: If you were to ask many people in Philadelphia, they
- 14:30Speaker 3: will say that his play has been down since he's
- 14:32Speaker 3: been moved to guard ever since the offseason injury and
- 14:36Speaker 3: surgery and everything else. Like there's some there's some nuance
- 14:39Speaker 3: to say there is no there's an opportunity to say
- 14:42Speaker 3: that maybe it may be level. Like maybe it may
- 14:44Speaker 3: not be a huge step down or something along those lines.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Maybe a guy who's better at run blocking, but worse
- 14:48Speaker 3: at pass blocking or vice versa. So there can be
- 14:51Speaker 3: an opportunity for the Eagles to at least stay balanced,
- 14:54Speaker 3: stay neutral as far as that's concerned in the run game.
- 14:57Speaker 3: And I don't expect you guys to have much success
- 15:00Speaker 3: because I don't expect any NFL team to have much
- 15:02Speaker 3: success against Devon Hamilton on the inside.
- 15:04Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 15:05Speaker 3: But if you can stay just reasonably balanced when you
- 15:08Speaker 3: have to respect that play action pass from that run
- 15:12Speaker 3: game or the run fake. you have an opportunity because
- 15:15Speaker 3: I think your receiver core actually does have an opportunity
- 15:18Speaker 3: against this Jacksonville Jaguars secondary between the.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Thirties, between the thirties.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Or maybe if you're getting this close up here and there,
- 15:26Speaker 3: that can change the ball game. But overall, I don't
- 15:28Speaker 3: see much success because I don't see much success for anyone,
- 15:30Speaker 3: but maybe that, you know, Damian Pierce can be, you
- 15:33Speaker 3: guys is a, I don't know, Jake Browning for us.
- 15:35Speaker 2: We have bad, bad issues with backups just in general.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I, Look, no backups are perfect. Of course, you know,
- 15:41Speaker 1: every NFL team has their challenges in terms of backups.
- 15:45Speaker 2: But no, we have challenges playing against backups where they have.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Oh, OK.
- 15:48Speaker 2: It's actually a really long multi. Let's go with eight
- 15:54Speaker 2: year issue.
- 15:55Speaker 3: OK, Jacksonville Jaguars got random backups just come out and.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Just like, what is what is this? How do we
- 16:00Speaker 2: keep loosening against? fill in the blank backup.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 1: It's just a long, it could be Will Shipley or
- 16:06Speaker 1: Damian Pierce.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Who knows? Yeah. Yeah. Legitimate another Florida boy.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly. Well, as we're moving along with the conversation here, I,
- 16:15Speaker 1: when we look at this Eagle secondary going up against
- 16:18Speaker 1: these Jaguars receivers, I mean, it's, I, I'm, I was
- 16:22Speaker 1: shocked this past week that Parker Washington didn't produce it
- 16:26Speaker 1: really at all in week four, because he is a
- 16:29Speaker 1: damn good player. He is a damn good receiver. It's
- 16:32Speaker 1: fantastic going up to the catch point as well. Well,
- 16:36Speaker 1: the Eagles secondary played pretty well last week. It was
- 16:39Speaker 1: basically their first time this season kind of really playing well.
- 16:43Speaker 1: How do you see this matchup really manifesting itself? Jaguars
- 16:46Speaker 1: receivers against the Eagles secondary. What are your thoughts here?
- 16:50Speaker 3: I didn't see last week's game as a game where
- 16:54Speaker 3: Parker Washington didn't.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I didn't see it as a game where he struggled.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I see it as a game where he wasn't targeted.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Like he just wasn't the primary focus in the game.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I think that they knew, especially how the game was
- 17:07Speaker 3: going early on, that he just it was a Brenton
- 17:10Speaker 3: Strange game against the Bengals defense that had multiple injuries
- 17:13Speaker 3: in the secondary and already struggled dramatically against tight ends.
- 17:18Speaker 2: You knew it was going to be a Brenton strange game.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Like even, uh, even Nate Brokercher had two targets in
- 17:23Speaker 3: the game. Washington had three, like that tells you everything
- 17:27Speaker 3: you need to know as far as how this game
- 17:29Speaker 3: was going. Like Brenton strange with that. Basically the tight
- 17:31Speaker 3: ends had 10 targets in the game. Parker Washington had three.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 3: They didn't need Parker Washington as far as that's concerned.
- 17:38Speaker 3: And then even with all that said and done, he
- 17:40Speaker 3: still dropped the touchdown pass.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Theoretically he had two drops because one of them should
- 17:45Speaker 3: have been passing the parents and, they didn't call it
- 17:47Speaker 3: because the rest called 24 freaking penalties in the game,
- 17:49Speaker 3: but somehow missed that.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:52Speaker 3: He's getting mauled at the goal line and then drops the,
- 17:55Speaker 3: the long ball that, you know, at the one yard line,
- 17:58Speaker 3: that would have been a touchdown basically. So even with
- 18:01Speaker 3: his quote unquote, lack of production, I didn't think that
- 18:03Speaker 3: Cincinnati did anything significant or drastic to take him out
- 18:06Speaker 3: of the game. I just think it truly looked like
- 18:09Speaker 3: they've showed on tape. It doesn't have to be Parker Washington.
- 18:13Speaker 3: It just happens to be a Brenton strange week.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I think this probably will be a Parker Washington week person.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a big time Parker
- 18:20Speaker 1: Washington week. I think it's going to be big time, Travis.
- 18:23Speaker 3: So seeing how this matchup manifests, it's going to be
- 18:26Speaker 3: interesting because I think you guys actually do have a
- 18:28Speaker 3: really good secondary.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Like we will.
- 18:30Speaker 3: And like you from Seattle, like Andrew McCool, but everyone
- 18:33Speaker 3: in Jacksonville loves him. Like they love them since draft time.
- 18:36Speaker 3: That was kind of the thing. The one that got away,
- 18:39Speaker 3: I guess we'll say. Same thing, honestly, for Quinn and Mitchell,
- 18:42Speaker 3: but I don't think there was a real opportunity for
- 18:44Speaker 3: Jacksonville from the truly in the land of Jacksonville in
- 18:47Speaker 3: that way.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Overall, you have a good secondary.
- 18:51Speaker 3: And you seem to have a good defensive line as
- 18:54Speaker 3: far as, you know, the persons who are there. They
- 18:57Speaker 3: just haven't been producing for fill in the blank reason.
- 19:00Speaker 3: They haven't been getting home. They haven't been getting home.
- 19:02Speaker 2: That's it.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 3: And with the umbrella defense that loves to play, he
- 19:06Speaker 3: doesn't really want to bring extra guys. So then that's
- 19:09Speaker 3: kind of where you are at the end of the day.
- 19:10Speaker 3: But I think they're going to have those opportunities because
- 19:14Speaker 3: you are generally going to play those two high safety looks,
- 19:17Speaker 3: those four, those cover quarters and cover two and all
- 19:20Speaker 3: of that. Well, Trevor's going to try to eat in
- 19:22Speaker 3: the middle of the field. So you're going to be
- 19:23Speaker 3: flooding the zone. He's going to want to throw it
- 19:25Speaker 3: to that flooded zone. It's going to be, in a
- 19:28Speaker 3: lot of ways, strength versus strength, though.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I mean, he's going to eat up Jihad Campbell. I mean,
- 19:34Speaker 1: Jihad Campbell has been so rough in coverage this year.
- 19:39Speaker 1: It's just been rough. He's needing to develop so much.
- 19:42Speaker 3: He didn't even practice on Wednesday now for some reason
- 19:45Speaker 3: yeah some uh injury i forgot what it was it's just.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It's just been a challenge on both sides of the
- 19:50Speaker 1: ball for this eagles team but as we conclude our
- 19:53Speaker 1: discussion my friend on our opposition territory shows every week
- 19:58Speaker 1: we talk about sneaky players that the eagles fans need
- 20:02Speaker 1: to look out for both on the offensive side of
- 20:04Speaker 1: the ball defensive side of the ball from the opposing
- 20:06Speaker 1: team so Who's your sneaky player for us to look
- 20:09Speaker 1: out for on the Jaguars offense this coming week?
- 20:13Speaker 2: Man, I hate these trick questions, man.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Because I mean, I can't name Travis Hunter. Everybody knows
- 20:21Speaker 3: who that kid is. I can't name Brian Thomas Jr.
- 20:23Speaker 3: Because everybody knows who he is from his rookie season.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Even though if you were to ask him over the
- 20:26Speaker 3: last two years, he hasn't been producing at all.
- 20:29Speaker 2: So whatever. Can't name Bashaw Tootin because fantasy football exists.
- 20:33Speaker 2: And there you go.
- 20:35Speaker 3: So I'm going to go with Josh Cameron, Jacksonville Jaguars
- 20:38Speaker 3: third-round receiver, the one that basically made most of his
- 20:40Speaker 3: waves because he's the person who took half of Brian
- 20:43Speaker 3: Thomas Jr.
- 20:43Speaker 2: 's snaps. Okay. Yeah. In the three game week four.
- 20:47Speaker 3: And he's kind of been slowly eating into those that
- 20:49Speaker 3: snap share because he's a dominant blocker. He's a 225 pounds,
- 20:54Speaker 3: six foot one, basically Parker Washington reimagined molded receiver. That's
- 21:00Speaker 3: kind of who he is. It's like almost like a
- 21:02Speaker 3: running back in the open field. So he had a,
- 21:04Speaker 3: what was that? 33 yard reception last week off a
- 21:06Speaker 3: boot action. He's just one of one of those dogs,
- 21:09Speaker 3: as far as that's concerned, one of those true team
- 21:11Speaker 3: player kind of guys. That guy is also a good
- 21:15Speaker 3: punt returner and kick returner. I'm looking at him as
- 21:18Speaker 3: far as a very sneaky guy who I think he
- 21:22Speaker 3: can get one to two red zone targets this week.
- 21:26Speaker 3: And the fact that he already has two touchdowns on
- 21:28Speaker 3: the season, Brian Thomas Jr. has just the one. Yeah. I, they,
- 21:33Speaker 3: they really trust his contested catch skills. He is something
- 21:36Speaker 3: that one of his strengths coming out of college. And
- 21:38Speaker 3: now they kind of proved it in joint practices where
- 21:41Speaker 3: he had like five touchdowns in the two first two
- 21:43Speaker 3: joint practices. And now just showing it in the season
- 21:46Speaker 3: where this is a red zone guy. So if you
- 21:48Speaker 3: get into the red zone and this, if it's not
- 21:49Speaker 3: Britain strange in one of those tidings, I could absolutely
- 21:51Speaker 3: see someone like a Josh Cameron in that way. Sneaky,
- 21:54Speaker 3: not because you don't see him from the stat side,
- 21:56Speaker 3: but you see him on the touchdown side. So in
- 21:58Speaker 3: that way, he's kind of noticeable.
- 22:00Speaker 1: All right. Very good. Well, on the opposite side of
- 22:02Speaker 1: the ball defense, who is that sneaky player on the
- 22:05Speaker 1: defense that us Eagles fans are going to be needing
- 22:08Speaker 1: to watch out for?
- 22:09Speaker 3: My favorite sneaky player on the Jacksonville Jaguars defense is
- 22:13Speaker 3: Dennis Gardick. He's the Jaguars starting Sam linebacker. And because
- 22:18Speaker 3: the B.J. Green was starting the season as their third
- 22:22Speaker 3: rotational edge is on IR for at least another week.
- 22:26Speaker 2: They've been using him a lot more frequently.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Like last season, it was like he would get 40%
- 22:30Speaker 3: to 50% snap share. This year, it's closer to that
- 22:32Speaker 3: 60% to 70% because they're using him more of that
- 22:35Speaker 3: rotational edge kind of role. When they put Trayvon Walker
- 22:39Speaker 3: in as their three technique or defensive tackle spot, they
- 22:43Speaker 3: kick him inside. They use Dennis Gardeck instead as their
- 22:47Speaker 3: third edge. He's been pretty dang good in– he's been
- 22:54Speaker 3: given he's the reason jordan lewis's interception just happened last
- 22:57Speaker 3: week uh josh hines allen impacted the quarterback most people
- 23:01Speaker 3: probably didn't notice that dennis gardick actually tipped the ball
- 23:03Speaker 3: yeah and i'm like all right that's three weeks in
- 23:06Speaker 3: a row that this dude has made an impactful play
- 23:08Speaker 3: as far as rushing the passer and he just kind
- 23:10Speaker 3: of does it under the radar it's like two sacks
- 23:13Speaker 3: here or three pressures here or a tip ball here
- 23:15Speaker 3: he's just kind of that guy who just gets it
- 23:17Speaker 3: done kind of quietly i think that's that's the dude
- 23:19Speaker 3: for this week for me All right.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Very good. I'm going to let you go, buddy. Thanks
